The waitress was nice and attentive which is the only reason I gave two stars. The food was bland as all get out and the bread served was not fresh but sliced. Pasta dishes with tomato sauce should have garlic, oregano, rosemary and other seasonings. The wait was ridiculously long for what we ordered and the food was overpriced for the effort put into it.
I do not like to leave negative reviews on social media, but there was no way to contact the restaurant via email (just phone, which interrupts business), and when I went in person, there was only one staff member present (busy behind the bar) and that person didnt even acknowledge my presence as I stood waiting. A simple Ill be right with you would have sufficed, but that didnt happen. After that, I decided there IS a problem with their level of service, so I am posting this: We made reservations weeks in advance for a 430 seating on Mothers Day. It was early as one of our group of 6 had to leave no later than 615. Our drink and appetizer order was taken immediately, then I watched as the tables around us, who arrived after us, were all served. Just about the time I was sure we had been been forgotten, our drinks arrived. As we waited for the meal, I watched again as everyone else was served theirs. Our meal was finally brought...at 615...just in time for the one in our group to put it in a box and leave. Our meal order wasnt special, we asked for nothing out of the ordinary. There were other groups the same size as ours. We have no idea what the problem was, but it put a damper on our day. No complaints about the food. Just the service. And we didnt say anything at the time because by then we were pressed for time as we had another engagement.
Excellent food, I would say best Italian in town. Lunch specials fairly priced and dinner dining atmosphere upstairs is nice. The Girl (Jess) Bartender/ Waitress down stairs when I go for lunch is excellent! Shes very friendly always has a smile and asks how is everything and do you need anything else, every time I go. Decent Proportions and I get the Spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic bread, which is excellent. I would highly recommend Arnies and do to everyone who ask.
I havent been to Arnies since the 80s. I was so happy to see that it was still in business. My friends and I would visit Arnies every Thursday for 3 years, at lunchtime. I think we tried every item on the lunch menu. I loved it; and I am thrilled to see others still do, also! Cant wait to visit again someday!
This used to be a staple as a kid and it was great. however, the food here now is appalling. possibly the worst italian food Ive ever had. everything is bland and tastes like reheated microwave meals. absolutely terrible. service is also terrible. its sad to see what this place has become. will never return.
I have only been here to eat one time but I was very disappointed with my meal. The sauce tasted exactly like a tin can and the garlic bread was literally a slice of American cheese on white bread with no butter or garlic. I know many people that love this place and have been going here for years, for me, it just didnt do it. There are so many things that could have made it better. The service and the employees were amazing and very nice, unfortunately the food ruins what would otherwise be an enjoyable time
Our whole family has been coming here for our entire lives and we absolutely LOVE it! We get take out sometimes too and its the most consistent, delicious food. Added bonus, the staff is friendly and welcoming and always goes the extra mile. We love Arnie and his restaurant! Authentic Italian cuisine that is delicious every time.
This place has been my familys go to for food, celebrations, and get togethers. They always know everyone and the FOOD IS AWESOME!. From pizza to clam linguine. It will take your tastes buds for a ride they will never forget. The sauce, the portions, i promise you will love every bite. Put it to the test. Come one, come all
Its in the heart of downtown Plattsburgh, we had a great meal here, our waitress was fun and entertaining and made sure we were taken care of. I hope I remember her name right I believe it was Liz. She was the younger of the two waitresses and very kind and good-humored. I got The Seafood pasta plate it was awesome there was lots of seafood lots of pasta it was a well-proportioned for the price. The atmosphere was cozy and kind of at home atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant as a great dining experience.
Have previously had the food here and it was amazing. Was looking forward to having it again. Unfortunately it was a disaster right from the beginning. Once we were seated and our order was taken we received our appetizers before we even received our drinks. The appetizers were awful. The garlic bread was literally 2 pieces of toast with little to no flavor. One of the meals in our party was wrong and was sent back. After waiting 20 minutes a new one was still not out. The lasagna was horrible, the noodles were mushy and pasty. Unfortunately we will not be back.
I LOVE ARNIES!!! We have been coming here since we where young!! The food here is AMAZING and the wait staff is friendly! When you sit down the staff takes your order and brings out water and bread to start you off! The food is AMAZING! And the atmosphere is VERY friendly!
I have never been to a more disappointing restaurant, and I don’t make such claims lightly. As a former server, I am as understanding as possible in a restaurant setting. Half of my order was lost in the shuffle. When I asked for the missing food, it took 25 minutes for them to bring out burnt-to-a-crisp garlic bread, at which point my noodles were cold. I asked if they’d be able to warm up my pasta. The waitress mumbled something under her breath and chuckled as she walked away, bringing back my pasta microwaved to a dry gummy mush, followed by the owner. The owner proceeded to yell at our entire table, expressing that we were making his life difficult and being disrespectful because I wasn’t eating the food as is, before stomping off when I tried to explain my empathy regarding the situation. As a business of service, I am appalled at the experience I had.
We had dinner at Arnies tonight and it was very good! The calamari, trout and lobster were all cooked perfectly and flavorful. One of our party enjoyed the lasagna and the mussels were tender and delicious. (they were with a marinara and I would have preferred a white wine garlic and butter sauce, but still very good). The restaurant was very busy when we arrived, but the service was still good and we enjoyed the atmosphere. I liked that they had specialties in Italian, Seafood and American.
Pretty pedestrian for Italian food. Nothing to brag about. My entree was brought to the table when I was halfway through with my salad. I was supposed to get a discount on the salad when I ordered an entree but the waitress didnt know or didnt bother to check. The veal parmigiana tasted like it was warmed over NOT fresh. I ordered a glass of Lambrusco but it came to the table ice cold. I has to wait for it to warm up before I could taste it and drink it. The Italian lemon cake was finally good but the coffee was weak. DONT know if Ill return.
Service was slow. When the place is empty, waitresses are standing there talking and dont move to seat you its not ok. I find it very expensive. No free refills. The food was ok. My son loves the pizza, myself not so much. Spaghetti with meat sauce is good but like I said way over priced.
The food was really underwhelming, but the service was decent. The garlic bread was two slices of bread with garlic butter on them. Some of the food was lightly seasoned, some not seasoned at all. The food was overpriced for what we got. My family and I will not be back.
We went out to have a nice family outing, my grandmother lives her alone, and we were visiting for the holidays and we wanted to get her out of the house. We went into Arnies and asked to be seated for 5, they asked if we had a reservation and we said no, that we didn’t know we needed one. And the very rude lady with a black pixie cut exclaimed “WELL IT IS THE HOLIDAY SEASON, YOU SHOULD KNOW TO MAKE A RESERVATION” as if it were common sense. We said fine we’re sorry we’ll eat some where else. She insisted that we stay but not really by making any effort to seat us. We gladly left and we will gladly never return.
Okay, so we were in town for one day. We didnt know where to eat but the locals recommended this place. Lets go to the review.1. Overall look. The overall look of the restaurant was... okay... The dining room had a old touch to it but it was clean and looked ok. The toilets were also old but also very clean. 6/102. Friendly? The staff was not very friendly in the beginning. After a while they were somewhat more friendly but thats it. 4/103. The food.First I would like to say that the card wasnt very clear to us. But we ordered and got what we wanted. The food was very good and we really liked it! 7/10 for the food.4. Final verdict. The restaurant was ok. and I u derstand why the locals like this place. As a tourist I wouldnt go here again because the overall experience wasnt amazing. 6/10---6/10---
Only one girl (new) waiting tables and tending bar tonight downstairs. Poor service but not her fault. Person at table next to us waited an hour and half for her food. She sat down before us and got her meal as we were checking out . You can tell Arnie isn’t in charge any more. Food was ok.
This place was by far the worse experience I have ever had at an Italian restaurant for the following reasons:1. While waiting we got to experience a manager have a confrontation with an employee2. Our waitress took almost 20 minutes to get our beverages, while we watched another table of hers get them in less than 2.3. The food was terrible. If your Comare is still alive, apologize to her, youve done her a disservice. The Fettuccine Alfredo was so overcooked it was borderline mush and the sauce was gritty and tasteless, the rarest of combinations! My wifes lasagna was also without flavor and somehow had cooked cheese on top of her lasagna but was underneath a layer of sauce. Will not be back. Will let everyone I know to not solicit Arnies.
I stopped going and now dine elsewhere. I had to pay for the salad (did not come with the pasta meal). Bread that comes with the pasta is nothing special, matter of fact I dont care for it. Food is ok but not overly impressed. Maybe it has changed in the last 12 months but not willing to go back to find out.
Always a delicious meal even though we didnt know he had passed such a sad day for everyone who loved him one of the bestest restaurants in Plattsburgh with great spaghetti for the last 25 years that I want been going to Plattsburgh. He will be sadly missed at the till. Im truly sad my condolences to his family and many friends .
Arnies never fails to please. A fine wine or other libation of choice added to a menu which the Pavone family has spent several generations developing is an excellent way to start an evening and somehow make sense of the day. My wife and I drop in at least once a week and have been doing so for years.
In Plattsburgh for the week; the chain restaurants are lame so I looked for a mom n pop place. Arnies $40+ surf n turf features a delicious lobster tail with garlic-free melted butter. The lobster shell can then be used to hide the dismal inedible piece of krep steak if you want to just get out in a hurry. Go to Applebees or get a sandwich at a gas station instead.

2022-04-21One of the guys at the hotel I stayed at and another of my doctor friends recommended Arnies and Im so glad I took to their recommendation. I thoroughly enjoyed my meals. I ordered the grilled liver and onions and spaghetti with sauce. Omg the grilled liver and onions were everything and more. The guy at the bar was very very friendly, I also met a lot of nice people there. I recommend this restaurant if you are in Plattsburgh dont think twice just go try them out.

2021-09-09The stuffed lasagna was fantastic, as was the spaghetti and meat sauce with Italian sausage. For dessert we had the Italian Lemon Cream Cake, so yummy. It looks just as good as this menu picture (because we ate it too fast to take our own picture 😆)

2019-07-08Came to this restaurant because of Google Reviews, unfortunately the service was awful and lacking hospitality. It started right away when 14 of us showed up and they said right away they couldnt accommodate us... Without even asking How are you or anything. We should have turned away but most of the group wanted pasta and we were hungry. The lasagna and the spaghetti & meatballs were tasty. The Italian Hot Sausage sandwich and the Chicken Alfredo was so-so. We also got charged full adult price for our kids meals...not cool.

2022-04-24This is a traditional italian restaurant. Service is great and theres a homey old fashioned atmosphere. Consider another eatery if you follow a ketogenic or low carb diet; obviosly theres either flour, tomato, starch, or sugar in every menu item.

2022-06-12First time there staff was amazing and food tasted great. Only thing I would say is salad bowls were awkward and fresh warm bread would be nice 👌

2022-01-01I had my first ever experience of dining at Arnies the other day. Growing up in Plattsburgh Region. What a delightful eating experience. The family atmosphere and warm wonderful smells. This time capsule left over from the days of family dining on the weekends. The service was excellent and staff so very friendly. I cant wait to return there and enjoy it all again.

2021-11-14An absolutely amazing dining experience! I grew up in this area and graduated in 89. Through all of my teen years and adult years before moving away, I have heard of Arnies but had never been there. I cant believe what Ive been missing! Not only was the sausage & peppers platter (with a side of spaghetti) that I got the best Italian meal that Ive ever had, it was quite possibly the best MEAL that Ive EVER had! The sausage was delicious. The obviously homemade sauce was delicious. The service was friendly and cheerful. Overall I cannot see how you could not like Arnies! Its an amazing place and I am saddened for the years that I missed coming here. I wish I would have discovered this place 35 years ago. Highly recommended!!

2019-01-30I judge an Italian restaurant on their eggplant parm, and as for Arnies, it was just ok Im afraid. The rest of my experience was pretty good, service was good, flourless chocolate cake is one of my favorite things in the universe and theirs was ❤️💯!
