Drove an hour just to find out they airated the course and only had 9 holes open. No notification on website. Its a really nice layout, but the greens are in rough shape with no chance to hit a straight putt. I would give it a one but they let me play the back with all dirt clumps left in the fairway.
The course was In horrible shape. Tee boxes and greens had little grass. For $55, I expect better. The course was a challenging design. I will note that there was heavy rain and there were places that were muddy. Tee boxes and greens are typically elevated so the clearly is an issue with grounds keeping.
Played on Sunday, 6/13. The 9th hole was in the middle of the fairway which caught our group by surprise since there were no signs or warning ahead of time. Basically had to assume a 1 or 2 putt. For that reason alone, we shouldnt have had to pay $55. The course design has always been interesting and makes for a good round of golf but the condition of rough, tee boxes, and greens were sub par.
Absolutely one of my favorite tracks around. Have been playing there since it opened. Unfortunately for the last few years course has been is horrible state of disrepair. This year have noticed a significant recovery in greens, fairways, all around general maintenance. Whomever is new greens keeper, he obviously has a good idea of what hes doing. Would like to see new tee box 40 yards back towards 8th green to make hole 9 a true par 5 again. 10th is already a short enough par 5. Keep up the good work, in the right direction.
Typically when the course is Cart-Path only, it’s meant to preserve the condition of the course. On this course there is absolutely nothing to preserve. This was the most expensive round I’ve played this Summer $55.00, and it was ironically the worst conditioned course. Putting on most greens is impossible as the ball just bounces over the patchy brown spots. Teeing ground needs some work.Wouldn’t play this course again unless someone paid for my round.Ivy ridge just around the corner is immaculate and cheaper. Go there instead.
For $55 a round I expect alot more. The electronic, GPS carts are nice, the design is decent but the condition of the course is inexcusable. It appears that they gave up weeding the tee boxes. Some of the fairways were alright but others there were clearly lines where the sod didnt line up. And the greens were the worst. From the infinite number of ball marks to the scorched surfaces, putting was atrocious. On one of the holes i literally had to put in between several ant hills and through a patch that looked like the surface of Mars. The course has alot of potential, but it needs repairing and some love, starting with the greens.
So my buddies and I were reading prior reviews before playing here and saw several one star. We assumed we’d give the course the benefit of the doubt and played anyways. Take note, this was a poor decision. Undoubtedly the worse greens and tee boxes I’ve ever seen for a course that charges $50+ a round. Also couldn’t even play the 9th because a wedding was going on. Literally robbing people with this pricing and the “quality” of the course. Great layout that clearly has awful or perhaps inept maintenance. Play a county course instead. You’ll at least get your money’s worth.
Used to be one of my favorite golf courses in the area, they absolutely ruined it. I would take my money to ivy ridge or dande farms over this god awful course. I would like to say, I used to LOVE this course would always play with my dad early in the morning on the weekends. Will never give this establishment my money ever again.
We went there for a wedding. It took place on a small island area that they have there. Other than the fact that it was completely out in the open on a hot sunny day it was bearable because the ceremony was short and very sweet. The ground were beautiful, with a lake and gorgeous flowers. The reception was held inside and there were many servers with many different kinds of Hors Doeuvres. The menu was buffet style and was set outside. The bar featured wine, beer, mixed drinks, and different seltzer drinks. There were a few games like corn hole and ladder ball which helped entertain a few children. It was a very comfortable and laid back atmosphere but yet, very classy. After dinner there was a band and dance floor outside. By this time it has cooled down a bit and was very pleasant. At the end of the night, they brought out pizza and chicken wings.
The greens are in biblically terrible shape right now. In some spots they are entirely unplayable which is a shame because the course layout is very cool and has several holes that are fun and aesthetically pleasing. Also, I’ll only ever play here during a mid-week round because weekend rounds can take up to 6 hours.
Course is a dog track. Unfortunately they have given up on the course, and obviouslyonly care about the events. Greens are unplayable, brown bumpy and or dead. Tee boxes are full of weeds and bumpy/uneven. For the price $55 it was atrocious and unbelievable thats what theybare charging for the product they are putting out. There are way better options close by. Not to mention the staff is far from helpful. 8 am tee time and cart dies on the 4th hole. U have one job to do plug the damn carts in at night! No one answers the phone at the clubhouse when you call to inform them your cart dies.. So the other 2 some drive back to get new cart. The so called manager could care less and simply says there are a lot of problems when you have 300 golfers. Ya bud you are one of the problems to add to the many other. The 4 in my group will not be going back anytime soonunless drastic changes are made. Sad sad and wish I would of read all the reviews prior, it would of been an easy decision not to go.
This was a great find. Attended an event at this venue and was impressed by the high ceilings. great chandeliers, amazing lighting and scenic views visible on all sides. It has a combination of country and contemporary style. Elaborate and delicious dinner service and ample parking all add up to making this an ideal venue for Weddings and Corporate events.
Have been playing the course for 10 years. Fine course. Not what review is about. Assuming it has new ownership and this is really meant as feedback for them to improve upon. You are a business. Telephones are necessary.1) I called to make my tee time while I was driving on a Tuesday. I was scolded for not using the online system, and after begging, the women finally took my tee time. She informed me that they aren’t doing tee times anymore that way.2) morning of I called 5 times and left messages as to whether or not the practice range was open (it wasn’t earlier in the season when I played). No one picks up any extension or calls people back. We stopped at another range on way to round. We found out when we arrived the range was in fact open3) we are on the course with a cart that is dying. Won’t move at all unless downhill. No way to contact anyone to get a new cart out to us, so we’re in a fun spot.Meanwhile the women who’s answering machine the messages are on is sitting in her office inside the pro shop. All makes little sense
I played today expecting this course to be in shambles and unplayable based on the reviews recently. I will have to say its not as bad as people have made it out to be unless youre playing very nice country clubs all day. There are definitely some areas that need some repair (tees, greens, fairways) but its playable and $54 for a weekend morning was fair. The bunkers are in rough shape but again, you can play through it. Its target golf, long hitters will rarely hit driver on most holes but its a nice layout. When this course is in great shape its worth $65-70 on weekend mornings. The issue we had is the organization at the first tee and its probably due to booking tee times too close to each other. We teed off about 30 minutes past our tee time. Overall, its worth playing and the pictures people are posting make it look worse than it really is because the majority of the course was in decent condition and you just have to move your ball on the fairway sometimes to get a fair lie due to the dryness.
I get the feeling current management no longer seems to care about golfers. Instead it has seemed to focus only on weddings, which admittedly is probably the way they make money. The greens are filled with crab grass and were burnt out last year. Prices have been raised over the past couple years with no improvement on course maintenance. There is also no walking rate and have no recollection of a ranger to enforce pace of play. The final staw that has provocted this post is the tearing up and relocation of the 9th green because of the safety hazard of with the new banquet venue. This new location is not well conceived based on the existing layout, with odd bunkering and poor runoffs around the green. The new green itself is a boring, flat green that you find on the cheapest of courses and shows the lack of care and or interest in the course, golf, and golfers from the current ownership. What hurts is this place is one of the course that I learned how to play golf. The layout of the course, in my opinion and if properly maintained, is the most fun layouts in wny. Unfortunately I can no longer see myself patronizing this course until I feel welcome as a golfer agian.
Husband and three friends played on Sunday morning , the tee boxes were in horrible condition, weeds and crab grass, the fairways were dry, weeds, crab grass and burnt grass, the greens were burnt, dry and bare. On the 9th hole, the par 5 green was under repair and they had the hole in the middle off the fairway, without any notice of the issue., literally could not putt on the fairway. For $55.00, this was a horrible experience. There should be no excuse for this course to be in this bad condition and if can’t be maintained properly, they should not charge $55.00 a round.
Beautiful course, the greens are really pitted and need attention though, and for such a fancy looking place youd figure you could get breakfast here but the caf doesnt open till 11. Again nice place but needs to change a couple things and definitely try to cull the mosquito population here they were eating us alive.
We have a regular foursome and its always a lot of fun. The greens beat harvest hill this year for sure. Bunkers are good, except after a hard rain. Fairways go dry mid summer and a couple spots on the greens but still rolled true and their fairways can run! My favorite course to play in the area hands down.
This course is in terrible condition. So many dry spots and bald patches. For the prices they’re charging the course should look beautiful. There was no starter, we had to wait 10+ minutes to tee off on every hole because golfers were so poorly spaced. The person working the concessions stand/check in’s told us “it was impossible to find tees in Buffalo, when we asked to buy some. Yesterday was my first, and will be my last time golfing there. I would not recommend this course to anyone
Used to golf here pretty regularly prior to moving away a few years ago. Just moved back and played there today and its extremely dissappointing to see how terrible the course has become. No starter or organization what so ever on the first tee; showed up a couple minutes early for tee time and didnt tee off for over 20 minutes. The tee boxes are riddled with crab grass, some almost exclusively, and dirt. Bunkers unmaintained which would be easy to overlook if it werent for how poor the greens are; dead grass, dirt patches, no consistency. Cart died and they have no phone number to reach anyone to ask for help. They have a number to text but no one ever responded. Price far too high for what has become a low grade course. Sounds like new owners more concerned with weddings than doing any sort of work towards properly maintaining a golf course which is a shame because its a great links course layout and could be a beautiful course again. Will not be returning.
Dana and Melanie were Fabulous and we could tell they Havent been tipped accordingly Ever! They Both deserve a Raise! Work on making proper announcements to keep guests informed. When you spend so much money to have an event your food should be yours to take. Its already paid for!!!
Played on Saturday 8/15/2020 and the course was in terrible shape. While I understand things tend to dry out with all the heat and no rain, I dont understand how the course continues to charge such absurd rates ($59 for 18 w/ cart) when the fairways, tee boxes, and especially the greens are burned out all over. I would pay $60 to play at Audubon before I came back to the course under its current conditions. A real shame to let a nice layout go to waste.
WOW!! I was a wedding guest at The Sterling and it was breathtaking! The staff was so kind and attentive. The food was delicious and the portion size was huge! I cant get over the enchanting modern vibe of the atmosphere. I am booking a tour to check out their second venue The Timberlodge and cant wait!!!!
Conditions were awful and it was overpriced. $59 for tee boxes that were more brown than green, fairways full of standing water (including a blocked cart path). Greens were average given the dry conditions lately. Course has a great layout but too much money is being pumped into events and banquet facilities and it shows. Wouldve been disappointed if I spent $40. I hope they turn it around
Same issues as most of the golfers that posted below. Burnt greens and fairways, sand all over the course, ran into the same hole 9 issue as most lately without any warning from the staff whom seem to care less.( a simple sign on the 9th tee or at the concession stand where you pay for golf would go a long way) $55 is an insane price to pay with all of the issues when any Muni course in Buffalo is in far better shape and not as expensive.
Course is in terrible condition. Fairways are burned out, greens are bumpy, almost every bunker is unplayable, and tee boxes are awful. People see it in this bad of shape and dont bother to fix pitch marks and divots. Cant believe they are still charging over $50. Its a shame because the layout is so nice
Conditions do not warrant $59 price. Carts were filthy and not cleaned between rounds.Tees and fairways have very little grass on them. Some greens are bare and patchy. Pace of play is atrocious. Greens that were decent, rolled true. Shameless money grab. Its on my DNR list. (Do Not Return). I played great so its no sour grapes.
I just missed a call from someone here asking why I only gave three stars, so Ill elaborate.I was pumped to get out golfing in March. $40 seemed high, but whatever. Find out once arriving three holes are closed. Then I am put behind a fivesome. Front 9 was unbearably slow. They started from the first tee so it had to be obvious to the clubhouse. This always seems to be the case here but fivesome makes it worse. That issue aside, $40 is too much for your current conditions.
It is a nice layout. Just 3 problems. First, it is a very slow round with no ranger or any other attempt to speed play. Second, the course is extremely run down. Tee boxes are dirt, fairways are burnt out cement (brown, weedy, hard as a rock), and greens bumpy and slow. And third, it’s unprofessionally run — the “Starter” is a woman in a tank top serving drinks and snacks behind a bar. Very disappointing because this could be such a great place, were it not left in such neglect.
Tee boxes and greens are shot. Waited 30 minutes past our tee time on 1 because they dont space out the tee times enough. Lost their liqour license so you couldnt buy beers. For $59 dollars you can play a lot of nicer courses in the area for less...a lot less. New ownership is running this place into the ground. Rude staff are a bunch of dbags. Save your money and book at Ivy Ridge down the street.
Overall good day. Very slow play ahead of us, didnt help that it was 90 degrees in the sun. Took 5 hrs for 18. Fairways and greens were decent, but teeboxes and bunkers needed work! Carts were a lttle rough and dirty as well...but hey a day on the course is better than a day in the office. People there were pleasant btw.
I dont get it. The course has an excellent layout. James in the pro shop and Curtis the starter are both helpful and friendly. However, the course has deteriorated quickly. Tee boxes are a mess. Website states that aeration was done on 10/4 - 10/5. Yet on 10/ 22 it was quite obvious that the greens WERE NOT top dressed or watered. There was so much sand on the ball on the green that I felt I was in a bunker. Sad.
I really enjoyed playing at Arrowhead and look forward to the next time. Challenging yet exciting and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. You can tell the new owners truly care about the course, the food is phenomenal and I will certainly be back many times in the future! I took a peak in the Timberlodge as well and it is remarkable!
Fantastic greens and fairways! Golfer friendly course as well and its a great course for first time golfers and challenging at same time for more experienced or single handicapped golfers like myself. New Pro there is a fantastic guy as well! Highly recommend it here!
Had a 10:30 tee time this morning. At one point we were told there were three groups that had 10:30 tee times. In talking with the other groups we realized they were making tee times four minutes apart. By 11:05 we were still not on the first tee. I decided to bail. The rest of my group stuck it out. I just got an update from them. They are on hole 7 and according to the GPS they are on a 7 HOUR pace of play!!! They also sent pictures of the worst looking tee boxes you can imagine. To charge $59 for that is a crime. It’s
Unparalleled course as it relates to its beauty in nature. The new owners have put in a brand-new sit-down Bistro at the turn and it is fantastic. My friends and I have played twice there already and loved every hole. Be prepared to experience a new and exciting course, which promises amazing scenery and great landscaping for an overall pleasing time for the family.
Having heard that the course was not in good shape but was recently under new management, we decided to see for ourselves yesterday (Aug 10, 2018). Some of the tee boxes were a bit ragged, but were being extensively worked on, but the greens and fairways were in good shape. It looks to me as if the new people are committed to getting it back to its former glory, which is great. Ive played there since it opened and lived nearby. I moved away 4 years ago. Its a great layout, suitably challenging and deserves than it currently seems to be getting. I look forward to playing Arrowhead again sooner rather than later.
I have to disagree with those who do not appreciate this golf course. I have played Arrowhead many time during the past three years and find it to be both challenging and fun. The layout is very appropriate for the low handicap, and begining golfers. The conditions of the greens and fairways keep getting better each year. The staff at the pro shop and on the course are very friendly and knowledgeable. Every golf course has its needs, but Arrowhead has consistently provided an excellent experience each time I have played there. I expect 2014 golf year to be better than 2013. Thank you to all the employees at Arrowhead...
I heard this used to be a nice course, I guess its seen better days....its design is nice but the condition is not....large dirt spots all over the fairways and greens, they really need to recondition this course if they plan on continuing to charge what they are charging....if anyone who works there sees this, you guys should consider closing down for a few months in the beginning or end of a season and re-condition your course or perhaps cut your prices.
Course is back. I played when it opened and a few years ago and hated the track. I play a lot at Diamond Hawk in Cheektowaga. The greens are faster at the hawk but fairways and tee boxes plus the overall layout are in favor of arrowhead. Its not a knock against the greens as they are very smooth and roll true. What you see is what you get. The rates are also extremely fair pe. Definitely recommend this to all golfers looking for a great round
Love the course, had a great relationship with the starters. Golfed about twice a month there for the last 4 or 5 years. Drove all the way from near Niagara Falls. The weekday price of 42.00 has ended it for us. We will drive to Terry Hills and take advantage of the 25.00 earlybird special . Sad..
My review is from a different use of their services than the other reviewers - in 2008 I was married at the Timber lodge and had my reception there too. Event planner was excellent - organized and very responsive. Food was excellent and we were thrilled with everything. Sounds like mgmt must have changed, too bad.
Played there on 10/30. Because it was raining, Chelsea from Arrowhead had the good sense to call me to inform that the course was still open and that she would wait for us. We presented Chelsea with our 9 hole rain checks obtained from a previous outing. Because it was raining,we figured to play 9 and come in to pay her if we decided to continue on to the finishing 9.She immediately called her supervisor to inform him of our plans. She suggested to him to just let us play as many as we wanted to with no extra charge. He readily agreed and away we went.We certainly appreciate Chelseys customer service skills and her bright, fun personality. Thanks for a fun time on a gloomy day !
I enjoy this course, very fun and challenging in some parts. The only reason i didnt give a 5 star is because there is absolutely no enforcement of pace of play. Ive seen people hitting 2 balls off the tee and people not letting faster people play through, other than that i look forward to playing this year
Place is a joke, every day is a free for all, tee times, leagues, doesnt matter just show up and hit.Greens are the worst never cut or rolled, they should just put a flag out on the fairway in front of the hole.Im told its been take over by the bank and apparently cant get rid of it, if it wasnt for the clubhouse, they would probably sell it off as raw land.
We would like to take the time from one vendor to another to give the Timberlodge Banquet Facility some recognition. We have worked with Anna the wedding coordinator and her team on many events in the past and are looking forward to working with them on our future events. The Timberlodge is one of our favorite venues to work with. Anna goes above and beyond with everything when it comes time to coordinate with our company for the day of the event. All of the weddings we have worked at the Timberlodge have been absolutely beautiful and perfect! From the staff to the food and to the atmosphere in the facility you couldnt ask for a more perfect place to host your wedding. One of our favorite things about the Timberlodge is the scenery and the beautiful trails to have your photos taken for your special day! As soon as we hear that the wedding is at the Timberlodge we get very excited to be partnered up with such an amazing staff to help make our clients dreams come true!Keep up the amazing job~ we can not wait to come celebrate another beautiful wedding with you!Marie ContaSoundwave DJ and PhotoOwner
Mike Song must be the Manager at this place because its a joke. It was foreclosed on and was suppose to be auctioned in February and the current owner came up with some 11th hour financing. He has $3.5M worth of debt to finance on this place how muchy $ do you think will go into the course? It should have been sold! You are better off at Grover Cleveland! Pete Segers review hit it right on the head!

2021-07-10The clubhouse is fine. But the golf course is pretty bad. Some of the worst browned out greens Ive seen. Almost every green and a bunch of fairways have problems on them. And they charge you $55 for the weekend! Definitely not worth it at that price. Its sad because the layout is really good and it has the potential to be a great course. But right now its bad. Very bad. And expensive.

2022-06-11This course used to be amazing. Always in tip top shape. Now there are ant hills on numerous greens. We were the first ones out today and they didnt repair the greens from the day before. There was garbage still on the course. One of our carts died and we had to call pro shop 8 times before someone answered to bring out a cart. Sad to see what this course has become!

2022-06-28Arrowhead was our favorite course for many years, but over the past few years we watched it get worse and worse from lack of basic care. Now, after returning for one try this year, it is clear that the course is on its way back to being one of the best in the area! It won’t happen overnight, but it’s obvious that Larry has the guys working very hard to improve the bunkers, greens, and overall look and condition of the course. It’s looking better every week… Keep up the good work!!

2021-08-01It’s very sad to see how far this course has fallen. I was super excited when there was an ownership change a couple years ago. Clearly the priority of the new ownership group is making this a wedding venue and not a golf course. Sad because it is a very nicely designed course. But today, it is nothing more than a cow pasture. The greens are tore up, the sand traps are an embarrassment, and total sections of fairways don’t even have grass.

2022-06-28Arrowhead in much better condition than years past. I always liked the layout but stopped golfing there a few years ago due to poor conditions. Heard it was in better shape so my group golfed there on Sunday and enjoyed it. Will golf there again this year.

2022-06-25Arrowhead is my go-to golf course when i’m in the area. A welcoming course for all, yet most holes will require some strategy for your approach shot. I’ve been playing this course for years and man has it changed for the better. Very impressed overall.

2021-07-16Absolutely terrible. I normally don’t leave reviews but this course is absolute trash. $55 green fee... Save your money. You’re better off going to play Delaware park. Every single green was pretty much unplayable. Too bad because the layout is actually kinda cool.

2022-06-13Course layout is fun. Blind shots and fun hazards to play around but the greens are always in rough shape and it seems like every year theres a hole that has work being done to it and theres a temporary green.

2022-06-29The course was in much better shape than years past. Always loved the track and now that the condition is being addressed, it’s back to being one of my favorite courses in the area.

2022-05-11Several of the greens were in conditions unfit to play on. One green was closed off and the flag was place in the fairway in front of it! Not ideal. I wish I was informed ahead of time.
