Arte Cafe in other cities:
WARNING: Their full price pizzas are actually HALF SIZE.We ordered a $24 locale pizza to feed our 4 volunteers. 2 slices each, right?Wrong. Instead of a standard 18” pizza, they delivered a tiny 13” pizza cut into 6 slices. It was barely enough for two people to eat, let alone 4 - and there was NO indication their pizza was anything other than “regular size”. We called them to contrarily they didn’t accidentally send us a medium, and their only response was, “Well, that’s how we’ve always done it.”The taste was “fine” - nothing special, but the fact they delivered essentially a half pie left a really bad taste in our mouths. Definitely not worth the $ and a really awful business practice.
First time here and I really wanted to sit in the patio but sadly they had a private event. I ordered three eggs sunny side up but they brought me scrambled eggs. If you sit outside there’s no salt, pepper or other condiments so you have to ask. My girlfriend had to send her coffee back twice since it was wrong the first time and too cold the second time. The food tasted pretty bland, and my toast was hardly toasted. At least the waitress was very good and did her best.
My boyfriend brought me to this restaurant to celebrate my graduation. We previously visited in a large private event and I had their lobster pasta. It is for this reason the rating I’m giving a three. But, as we’re having dinner we both saw a mouse come out of a hole. The mouse wandered for about five minutes before returning to its hole. Additionally, our server asked me if I was splitting the bill. Upon being seated my boyfriend and I never indicated splitting the bill.
Ordered the grilled octopus (Polipo alla Griglia) and fried calamari (Calamari Fritti) for appetizers, both are not as flavorful as expected but have good texture. Portion are alright, not generous but definitely enough. For entrees we got the lobster spaghetti (Spaghetti all Aragosta) and the truffle pesto pizza (Tartufo) to share, pasta is good but nothing stands out unlike the pizza, which is really impressive, the mushroom and speck balanced each other, with a hint of black truffle that enhance the flavor, will definitely come back again for it. Overall decent experience, nice ambience in a dim setting thats good for small groups, waiter is friendly and attentive, reasonable priced (~$40 per person), would recommend!
The brunch is simply not good. Theres a reason for its 3-star rating on yelp, possibly the lowest for any restaurant in the immediate area.Bottomless mimosas are a scam - you get a 6 to 1 ratio of OJ to champs. Better off getting a real cocktail.Beware - they have dish(es) on the menu - specifically the penne alla vodka - that have meat on them, but fail to mention this on the menu. They clearly just dont respect vegetarian guests.Skip it. There are so many good places nearby. Just throw a rock and youll hit someplace better.
Terrible. This would have to be the worst fine dining Italian restaurant Ive ever been to. I told them I was waiting for my friend to show up so there was 2 of us. They put a menu and napkin in front of the empty seat across from me but not mine! I asked for sparkling water with lemons and limes. I just got flat water - no lemons, no limes. I pointed out their mistake and got me sparkling water but only limes. I ordered an appetizer while I waited for my friend. When my friend showed up and asked for lemons, he got them right away. And when the waiter asked if we were ready to order he took my friends order but I had to stop him from walking away so I could order something else. I wasnt finished yet! They took my fork away when I finished my appetizer so I said I needed a new one. When they brought my Caesar salad they didnt bring a new fork. I had to ask again. And the salad was soggy! And the worst part was flies swarming all over the place!
Really nice outdoor seating but I have to say I was disappointed in the portion size of the Bronzino they literally brought it out in the smallest appetizer plate I’ve ever seen. Also the service was slow but friendly. I would stick to the pasta I don’t order any meat or fish because the portions are just the smallest I’ve ever seen.
This place is cute, I really wanted to like it.Our main server was grumpy and they charge $3 for olives with a dirty martini. He didnt even ask if I wanted them. Tbh I would be okay with paying for olives if the server wasnt so rude. The server we were assigned took a long time to take our order, or maybe he assumed we were only getting drinks.Unless its super crowded, the stools should be further away from the short tables to avoid having butts in the short table peoples eyeline. I tried to avoid this seating area but the server said it was too far. He was a bit grumpy or maybe tired. The host, the cheese guy, and the female server who took over for our first server were all really nice, and professional.
Beyond outstanding! Our opera weekend was exceptionally memorable because of our dining experiences at Arte Cafe on both Friday and Saturday evening. Our professional, warm, welcoming and friendly host, Jonathan made us feel very special. The ambience of the restaurant, (both indoor and outdoor) is exquisite; stylish, friendly and very popular. The bartenders, Gabriel and Kevin are a great team and the drinks were perfect. Both evenings were quite busy, (Friday & Saturday) but one of the most notable aspects of the service was that all the servers are well presented and work in unison. They all knew what everyone needed. On Friday, our server, Patty recommend the Orecchiette Pugliesi and Tortelli (with pink vodka sauce), both delish! On Saturday, there were 5 of us and we were fortunate to dine outside on the patio with servers Ignacio, Carlos and Mostafa. They made our evening wonderful and memorable. Every dish was perfect, including the organic green salads! And our host Jonathan was a helpful and consistent presence, with a smile. Of all the hundreds of restaurants we have visited in our lives, Arte Cafe was one of the best. Clearly, however, the STAFF ARE THE BEST.GRAZIE MILLE ❤️
I made an appointment at Open Table and asked to sit outside. Upon arrival, I was told that the outdoor seating is on a first come, first served basis. It is not crowded, so we got a table we wanted. There is also a beautiful outdoor space behind. The indoor atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
We were three Kentucky ladies who happened upon one of the sweetest and most special restaurants in New York this weekend. The atmosphere is incredibly intimate, such that you can have a long and quiet conversation even though it was busy. The food is fantastic and delicious, too! But, the greatest treasure of Arte Cafe is the staff, who made these Southern strangers feel like life-long friends and welcomed us into the establishment and we enjoyed great conversations with each of them as we recharged from a long day of exploring NYC. Arte Cafe, you are a true treasure and we cant wait to come back to New York and dine with you again! Thank you, the entire experience was the definition of Serendipity.
I had a amazing time with my daughter and her grandma, my waitress Patricia was very kind and on point with everything, and I believe Anthony is either a manager or owner was very kind to me and my daughter… food is amazing so I 100% recommend this amazing restaurant, I am Dominican and I love Italian food and so far this is part of my top 3 love it.
Great spot. I found it from.all the great Googlr reviewers out there. Not that far from the Beacon theatre either. Prix fixed dinner for 18.95. Cant beat it. Menu has alot of nice alternatives too. Wine was good. Clean resteraunt, friendly, attentive staff. Short rib was amazing
I will never return to this establishment. I came for their Thanksgiving pre-fixe special this year. We arrived, and they sat us outside (heated), even with a reservation. Things started off great, with our wine and soup showing up within minutes..then things went downhill. They clearly allowed way too many reservations, and could not keep up. Our pasta appetizer did not show until an HOUR after the soup. When we asked the manager about this, he joked about it, and did nothing to try and remedy the problem. Waiters had no idea which table was on what course, and were just dropping things off at random. To top things off, my final credit card bill charge was not what I signed off on - they added money to the tip amount. I will be fighting this with AMEX, as I kept the receipt. Simply awful. They dont care about their customers whatsoever.
We only stopped in here at random, with no advance research or planning, because we liked the look of the place. And Im so glad that we did. We ended up having a terrific, modern Italian meal in a pleasant warm atmosphere without the usual overbearing background noise. My husbands eggplant parm was one of the best hes had in a while, and my cacio e pepe was almost too big to finish. Almost. I was slightly disappointed with the beef carpaccio, since it was served dry without any of the usual accompaniments, not even olive oil. But otherwise the meal was flawless.
First year dinning for Thanksgiving with the family at Arte Cafe. The service was Top notch; so accommodating. I do not eat meat and did not want to be annoying and asked for additional of an item on the pre fixed menu. They offered branzino as an alternative option to turkey. SO GOOD! The meal was enough but not too much. I already loved this restaurant but made me love it even more. The manager not sure his name but clearly was just what you want a manager to be. Aware of what is going on around him and ao attentive to the clients needs. Please eat at this restaurant!!! I appreciate these workers for giving me a deliciousMeal and awesome service on this day of thanks.
Sometimes, a great evening at a restaurant means both guest and staff roll with the punches. They couldnt find our reservation. We decided the outdoor area was too loud. They were under staffed (through no fault of their own). We were starving upon arrival. Our food came out cold. They fixed it without complaint. In the end, we had a memorable evening with great food, conversation, tennis (the US Open was on inside where we ended up eating) and company. Sometime you cant ask for more. Very recommended—if you can be as flexible as they are.
I see the other reviews and that was not my experience. The food was vastly overpriced for what you received. There was not much artistry in the dishes....it wasnt gross but plain to say the least. I actually like firm vegetables but not pastas. All the wait staff appeared to be other than Italian and ours simply walked away while we were trying to order and forgot a glass of wine till we were 90% finished eating. However, the atmosphere was as expected. Side note: I asked for Chicken Marsala....what real Italian restaurant cant do that one?
Our families came from Montana and Michigan for our son and long time girlfriends wedding in Central Park. We all went to Arte Cafe for a dinner celebration. Well the people were unbelievable. The waitress was beyond outstanding. The food was great. It was so great a time. Did I mention how outstanding the food was and the waitress and staff were to us. Thank you for all helping make a great memory at Arte Cafe.R K
I recently attended my Annual Council Luncheon which was held at Arte Cafe, as per the recommendation of a Co-chair. I have only good things to say about this location. It is conveniently located by two subways stations. As I approached the location, it felt welcoming and inviting. We dined in the back patio Al Fresco. The menu had a variety of choices. Price point a little high, but it is well worth it. The staff is charming and with warm, attractive personalities. With the warmer weather upon us, eating at Arte Cafe Al Fresco was a special treat.
Octopus was good, lobster great, beef carpaccio very good. Fried zucchini we sent back twice - first they brought us cold and saggy, second time (they put them in a hot oil) - they were burnt and hot. Profiterole - pathetic - actual profiteroles are at least a week old . Service nice.
We went here despite the mix reviews . Mainly because We would like to try neighborhood restaurants instead of going to one well known one. Right now with less customers chefs have best chance to serve best of the best food. Both my husband and I ordered pasta dish, and mine with sausage and my husbands with chicken. chicken and sausage both cold. sauce slightly warm. Lack of staff. And finally when it came to pay the bill ,no one is showing up, we got so tiered that we ended up paying in. cash.Next time I will pay attention to bad reviews first.
On Saturday October 2nd, I decided to go out for a nice dinner after shopping. I sat at the end of the bar, because I was alone and wanted to be left alone. While I was eating, I felt some eyes on me and when I turned over to look, it was an older gentleman probably in his late 50s who I think works there, I guess he was the manager, but he wasnt doing anything other than standing around looking at me and his phone. It felt very awkward and creepy. I ended up just quickly finishing my sub par order and leaving. I felt very uncomfortable. And also, who make orchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage with just one stalk of broccoli rabe?I was actually there a few days prior and I had a nice chat with someone until I found out they were unvaccinated. I thought restaurants were supposed to make sure people were vaccinated before seating them indoors. Regardless, That manager or whoever he is, was super creepy and I would suggest he either be sent to some kind of training or look in the mirror or have someone take a picture of him so they can see how creepy he looks.
The food I received was terrible! Ice cold pizza terrible taste ravioli. Definitely not something you expect from respectful place who charge so much money. Frozen pizza you heat in the oven better than their food. Try to contact them but received no reply. Shame this is the service you receive when you try to help local restaurants in the pandemic. There are much better restaurants in NYC who deserve my money.
This is a very nice place to spend an hour on a coffee break. They have the kinds of coffees that would really satisfy your taste. The crew was really smiley, welcoming, and clearly very proud of the quality of their coffees and service. The place does get crowded as it’s fairly small, but it’s definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended Arte Cafe ❤❤👍👍
Went to brunch here for the first and last time this morning. The service was extremely slow, our food was cold, and my order wasn’t cooked correctly. We were going to let it slide until a “host” came to our table immediately after we had just gotten the check back to very rudely inform us we needed to leave, people were waiting for our table. Three people in our party still had drinks in front of them while we had just signed the check. When confronted as we were leaving, the “host” played dumb, saying very unconvincing “sorry” several times, then said his server had told him we were there a long time. The same server who was absent and slow the entire time.Never going back here again. Terrible service, rude workers, and inadequate food. Not worth your time or money.
I know the restaurant industry is hurting, I do.3 of us went here for dinner last night. Me, my husband and my 76 year old friend. We waited at the bar for a drink for 10 mins, before asking another staff member to send the bartender down to us.Then we were seated and waited 15 mins for anyone to acknowledge us.My 76 year old friend who is totally deaf in one ear saw a staff member and simply raised his voice ( the place is loud) and said excuse me and Marco, (who I later found out is the manager) turned and screamed at him saying dont yell at me!!! You are not going to get anywhere yelling at me!!! Wow. All that for a simple excuse me. service was awful, food was ok. you decide.
I recently attended my Annual Council Luncheon which was held at Arte Cafe, as per the recommendation of a Co-chair. I have only good things to say about this location. It is conveniently located by two subways stations. As I approached the location, it felt welcoming and inviting.
Lousy lousy service. We were waiting for someone to take our order for 30 minutes.Food is fine, nothing special but inconsistent. They do not close at 11:00!!!! This is a major misrepresentation!!!! They close at 10:00, and even if there are people - they will kick everyone out at 10:00, which is fine, but they should not say that they are open til 11 as they are not!
Truly amazing! Braciole di Maiale alla Milanese - Breaded Pork Chop, Tomatoes, Arugula, Avocado, Bufala MozzarellaThe best pork chop Ive ever tasted in my 83 years. Pounded thin - a plateful! The batter was perfect - just squeezed a fresh lemon - absolutely astounding - and I am a very fussy eater, but this was far beyond my expectations. BRAVO ARTE CAFE!
Been here before, was usually a good experience. This time was not a good meal, will not return. Got two prix fixes, the calamari and meatballs appetizers were both very good. The mains were both so poor that after one bite we packed the rest to go to try and salvage at home. The lemon sauce for the chicken piccata was far too bitter. For the mushroom pasta, I initially thought there was something wrong with the wild mushrooms, trying them at home I understood that they were boiled instead of sauteed.
Excellent local neighborhood Italian restaurants, classy bar scene, great Pizza, pastas, fish. Lamb shank too small for the money. Short ribs or steak smarter deal. Service can be spotty. They love asking how your food is by waiting till your mouth is full. I was going to spit out and say great
It was love at first visit! The restaurant technically isnt wheelchair-accessible but they do have a very sturdy portable ramp. I was impressed! Far too often the portable ramp at restaurants is a scary thin piece of ply wood. Once inside, the restaurant is gorgeous, and spacious. I had no trouble maneuvering my motorized chair at all. The food was amazing! My friend and I both took advantage of the prix-fixe menu and we were not disappointed at all! The mushroom fettuccini and tiramisu were delicious! I recommend this restaurant 100%
I have been there several times, for both brunch and dinner, and Im never disappointed. They have great prices, and amazing meals. My favorites are the Fungi Pizza or any of the pasta dishes, especially the gnocchi! A great spot to visit with friends or family! A hidden gem on the Upper West Side, just walking distance from Central Park!
Ive visited twice before covid and recently on mothers day. I would have given 4 stars for my first two visits (nice brunches) and two for my mothers day visit...Reason being: theyre known for their brunch, we reserved a week plus in advance, when we got there thats when they informed us there was no brunch menu for mothers day.(its mothers day, what else is going on besides brunch and cards?) we left without having placed an order although we were there for 20+ mins trying to determine if wed eat pasta instead or go try our best to find another spot (its mothers day, lines everywhere, where else was their to go?)...sorry Arte Cafe I know covid has been rough but our mothers day was spoiled as a result, its NYC most brunch spots had a long wait.
Our family has eaten here too many times to count - we’ve enjoyed all menus from brunch to dinner to drinks only and even hosted an event in one of their private rooms. I’ve never had bad service. The food is always very good. Bar service is generous as well. I always feel they go above and beyond.
Ive been here a number times and havent been disappointed. Whether you want a great place for a boozy brunch, or somewhere thats child/baby friendly Arte Cafe seems to make it work. The food is decent and the setting is nice. Its definitely one of my top choices for a casual place to meet friends at the weekend.
I am not one to write Yelp reviews, but I had the absolute worst experience here. Earlier today, my friends and I celebrated a birthday here. It was the worst experience of my life. We arrived promptly at 7:30pm, but our food did not come until 9:15pm. I politely asked for napkins five times. FIVE TIMES. I never got my napkins. When the food finally came, it was subpar at best. We brought our own cake and the waiter offered to cut it for us. Although I understand that it is common for restaurants to charge for cake-cutting, they did not inform us at all and it cost us $50. FIFTY DOLLARS! Our cake was cheaper than that. Additionally, the manager was extremely extremely rude during the entire evening. Restaurants are supposed to be welcoming and hospitable. My friends and I left the restaurant completely frustrated and livid. And I know that we shouldnt blame waiters because it is not their fault the food is slow, but the service was terrible. I mean come on how hard is it to grab a couple of napkins. They were also very rude and condescending. They gossiped about us in Spanish (little do they know that half of us Asian people are fluent in Spanish). They do not respect customers in the slightest. Also, if you were wondering whether the food made up for the terrible service, think again. I can make homemade pasta way better, way faster, and way cheaper and Im a terrible cook.Trust me, save your money and your time. Dont go here. I mean, unless you literally want an aneurysm from the stress you will be feeling.
This was an altogether odd experience. A nice lady recommended Arte Cafe, but we later decided she must have meant their sister wine bar around the corner on Columbus that also does tapas. This spot? Was super slow. Prices were on the higher side and the cuisine was fairly standard Italian fare. Nothing stand out. They did accommodate us at the last minute for a large table reservation, which we appreciated. However, when we told them we needed the bill quickly to make a show, they all but pushed us out of the place. One friends food disappeared before theyd sat down their silverware and one friend stood up to find her coat, only to find she shouldnt sit back down because theyd taken her seat! Wont be back to this spot.
The best chicken parmigiana Ive ever had! I brought some friends visiting from Chicago, and we had an incredible dinner. We loved the atmosphere and the staff was so welcoming. Theres something on the menu for everyone. The filet mignon special was outstanding. I find myself dining in at least once a week and ordering delivery two-three nights. Consistently delicious.
Tonight I decided to go to the Upper West Side location on 73rd Street. We were met with a shocking barrage of unprofessional and unpleasant experiences with both the food and service.Upon arrival, we were seated and ordered our dishes. Our orders took over an hour to arrive. Many of our entrees were not properly warm by the time all of the food arrived and one of the dishes even had a noticeable strand of hair in it. When these issues were addressed the manager and staff were rude and dismissive. To top these issues, the members of the wait staff were gossiping in other languages about our party. Although we were mostly of East asian ethnicity, many of us speak other languages fluently-- it was not pleasant listening to the rude and frankly racist remarks regarding our party throughout the nightWhile I was hoping and expecting much better, Arte Cafe failed to provide even the bare minimum in acceptable food quality and service.
The food was bland and the service bad this time. I have eaten here 2x before and this was the worst. What is even more frustrating is that the waiters looked genuinely upset that I was asking for things. I know this is a neighborhood favorite, but I dont live in the neighborhood. Time to move on to some new places.
A true neighborhood gem! Since moving to NYC Ive loved discovering real authentic Italian restaurants, and Arte Cafe is that and so much more! You feel like youre walking into your home. The staff is so inviting and the everything on the menu has been delicious. I find myself going back again and again.
Love this neighborhood gem... great vibe, nice decor, terrific service and wonderful menu! Whether you want to dine at the bar (w/3 tvs), sit at a high-table nearby, or enjoy restaurant seating, youll be well looked-after. From the bread and extra virgin olive oil you know youre in a great spot. The servers are all attentive and friendly, while nice music plays in the background. And the menu selections and wine list offer a wide range of selections. Though we arrived near 9pm when the restaurant was packed, we werent rushed at all even when the restaurant had emptied out. Jennifer took terrific care of us and made us feel completely welcomed. We loved our Super Tuscan wine, side order of meatballs, lasagna and cacio e pepe. Will be back for sure!
This place was nice. We are looking for places for an anniversary party so we had dinner here. I had the lasagna which clearly from the taste comes from an old recipe that should be gaurded with their lives. Lol. It was that good.My husband got the chicken parmesan. It came with a light red sauce which was perfect. Too many times a restaurant will smoother in sauce, sometimes feeling like its trying to cover up something. Also the breading was light and the chicken moist and a huge portion. We recommend this place and there two classic dishes.
Whether you are there for a dinner or a brunch, regardless if your group is solo or 35, thebstaff at Arte Cafe treat you in the best possible manner! And, to make things even better, the food is wonderful! Of course, thats the basic reason why you go to a restaurant in the first place, but still!Ive been to this location (they have another on 7th Avenue and 21st St) several times and have always had a wonderful time! Best time to really go, I think, is for a weekend brunch. The fare is fair, and somewhat predictable, but it will put you in a very comfortable state of mind. The omelettes a large, light, and fluffy; pancakes are just the right size and so delicious! Also, once done, its nice to take a walk eastward and enjoy Central Park, only a block away.
Really disappointing experience. While the senior staff was nice, the service was bad. Some of the food was very good including the crab cakes (although they came out warm) and the chicken parm. The bad- the Octopus came out cold (on a warm plate), wine service took 35 minutes, the meatballs came out 5min after the 3 other apps dropped. Dinner plates came out before apps were done. On 6 occasions the bussers tries to clear plates that weren’t finished. There were other issues. There was a 20% autograt that wasn’t disclosed until after we were filling in the tip. Really disappointing especially because we all spent time in the industry.
We were there for our yearly family Mothers day brunch so we decide on Arte Cafe on 73/Amsterdam Avenue location this year. Once checked in, We were seated promptly and within few minutes basket of muffins and water was served. The server came back and took everyones order and thats when waiting period starts. 45 mins went by and no signs of our orders... We asked our server to check on our orders and was told that kitchen is very busyand your food is coming!! . Our reservation was at 1pm and we didnt get our first plate of food until 2:10pm.. I spoke to the mngr and never once he came by and give us any updates from the kitchen.. This is unacceptable and I felt quite embarrassed that I had chosen Arte Cafe vs my 2nd choice of restaurant that was near by..I would love to come back again when Arte cafe kitchen are better prepare for such a big day like Mothers day brunch. Fair price on brunch and servers work really hard here!!
Came with a big group for a late Sunday lunch, so we got the entire back of the house to ourselves, where seating was fairly spacious. Tables can be a little tight in the front of the house though. The decor was pretty interesting here - the walls are filled with quirky doodles from whom I assume are celebrities. The service was fairly good, although given our big crowd (20+ people), they couldnt get our food out at the same time. While the food was tasty, my gnocchi came just lukewarm, which was a bit of a let down. Our waiter was kind enough to break down our bills into groups of five, which made splitting the bill a lot easier. Probably wont go out of my way to dine here, but if Im in the area and have a case of late afternoon munchies, I might stop by.
Still a great value after all these years. My only disappointment with my most recent visit is how they severely restricted the pre-fix menu. Previously, they allowed you to upgrade for a few extra dollars, which I thought was great. Allowed people to keep to a price point of they wanted that above all else and allowed those who wanted a little something more to have that without breaking the bank.Food is still good.Latest remodel is a bit cold. They have literally removed (most of) the art from the Arte Cafe.
We waited for more than 1 HOUR and everyone who sat after us got their food already. We asked one of the manager and he said hell checked but he just went back in and never came back. After we asked several time the owner came here and said theyll start making it now. Its so ridiculous and no one even apologize for it.
The service is very poor, waiters were distracted, slow, and inattentive. They brought us something we didnt order because they were out of what we asked for- and didnt even ask or communicate a problem. The food portions are huge, greasy, and unimpressive. The eggs taste like vinegar and most of what we got was cold. Its way over priced for what you get and I left with a stomach ache.
Me and my buds were on the search for some top notch Lasagna and had Arte Cafe recommended to us by a family friend. EXCELLENT Italian restaurant. One of the best, if not THE best Italian restaurant in the Upper West Side. Keep in mind that it tends to get crowded a night, so plan accordingly.
This place has a great ambiance, great seating, great atmosphere. The food is quality with moderate prices. Our server was great, very positive and approachable. We came here around 8:30pm on a Thursday night seated and it was only half full, so we were arrested immediately and were comfortable. The Rigatoni con Pollo was amazing. The only negative comment I have would be about a neighboring table. This place is a nice, quiet trattoria, however there was an obnoxious table of middle aged patrons who were over jovial and shrieking randomly throughout the night. They were disturbing everyone else in the restaurant, and became defensive when approached by other patrons. They were approached by other patrons because the staff was ineffective. Im not being upright when I say any of this, Im 23 and none of my college parties upstate ever got this ridiculous.
Wont eat there again. Pricey for unimpressive food. Mashed Potato tasted powdered or mixed half/half. Wont eat there again. Picata not bad but not that interesting either. Chicken paillard sufficient but also unimpressive. The bread offered was two measly pieces which looked to be left over from someone elses table. Cold too.
Went here for brunch with visiting family and had a great time. The brunch drink special comes with a bottle of champagne, rose, mimosa, or sangria and an entree for $29. Have one or two people in your party order the special, then split the drinks -- we enjoyed mixing the champagne and the sangria.
Beat the crowd and sat at the bar with my partner and enjoyed great, engaging service from our bartender, Nicole. She had a delicious short rib quesadilla and I had the Caci y Pepe pasta with an excellent cab sauv. The wine overmatched the dish, but I relished it nonetheless. A very good time!
I just bought some prosciutto. WOW! Just WOW! I also got their home-made sopressata, amazing. And these pepper pretzel thingys! Im now in love with this place. Go there for all your Italian homemade needs or just to try something new!!! And the service is so great! Very nice people who work there. They gave us samples for everything we were about to order. YUM!
I mistakenly left my cap under my chair at the premises on Sunday night 17/03/19 after paying the bill. I returned within minutes after realizing my error only to discover the cap was removed from where I left it? No other guests had come in and the table was re set. I asked the manager how could this happen and he just said sorry 😐 .He has a thief among his staff and he did nothing about it. This cap belonged to my dear deceased Dad and was of great sentimental value to me and I hope whoever took it will see the error of their way and return it please 🙏After several mails to the manager the staff member did not return the cap? She was bitter because she was not tipped, the lad who waited the table was tipped but left before desert was served because of change of shift. I can still see the venom on her face...hope she is happy!
We re-visited this restaurant to bring back memories from our engagement......well new memories were made...memories of me not leaving a tip for the first time in my life.Lets re-live it here:We walk in...Hostess: HeyMe: 2 for dinnerHostess: OkMe: 5 minutes later...uh yeah can we get a table?Waiter: After waiting 10 minutes..what do you want?Me: we order appetizer and salad...overhear two waiters making fun of tourists coming in the door.Busboy brings food...we dont see waiter again for 15 minutes...Finally we order after about thirty minutes.Busboy brings our entrees and leaves us with our earlier plates as our waiter watches from across the room.We finish our meals and wait...and wait. The waiter shows up to take our plates after I flag him down. He impatiently speaks with us while scratching his face and glancing around like the mob is out to get him.Wait for dinner: 45 minutesCost of an mediocre dinner: $83.00Leaving a $1.30 tip for crappy service...pricelessStay away from this forgettable restaurant.
The good points were that my wife and i sat outside, the bread was quite good, and our server tried real hard. however, the downsides were: our server we believe was actually the hostess on a short-staffed night; the lasagna we ordered was 86-ed but we saw people eating it later; the tiramisu and chocolate mousse were tasteless; and the staff were goofing around outside around customers. wont be returning except under duress.
Ill make this quick, much like my visit here. Made a reservation for 11am on a Sunday for drunken brunch. Arrived, was seated, chose our drinks, and prepared to order. Menu said drinks were available 11am - 3pm. Waitress came back and said they couldnt serve drinks until noon. We left and got drinks elsewhere.
I sure have hadna lot of brunch since moving to the UWS. Arte Cafe is yet another good spot to try. They have a pretty bustling scene for brunch, a large dining room and a nice patio. The brunch menu here was pretty standard, there wasnt anything memorable that stood out. Overall its not a bad spot, Ill be planning to come back when the weather gets nicer.
The food was great, but with so few patrons in the restaurant, there is no excuse for such mediocre service. Too much staff enjoying each others company rather than attending to the guest. I would love to give them another chance, but with so many other options in the area, not sure that I will. Nor would I recommend it to friends.
This is part of the Bocca di Bacco mini chain of Italian restaurants and has the exact same menu. I think this chain presents a good quality, reasonably priced Italian option in different parts of Manhattan. You can find some reasonably-priced white wines by the bottle but for some reason they don’t offer any reasonably-priced red wines.
The pasta dishes are fair, but just not quite to the expectations created by their prices and advertisement, nor (confusingly) the boisterous atmosphere. If you like a louder, family-friendly Italian place, I think the pricing and service is family-friendlier at Patsys up the block. If youre looking for finer dining, youll certainly find finer elsewhere.
Ample portions of basic Italian fare make this a good choice if you are hungry, but dont mind waiting a little until your meal arrives. The servers all seem very unhappy to be there, and perhaps they are all worried that an Immigration Officer might be at their table. But, for the price, its a bargain.
They are not ready for grubhub. It took more than an hour for my food to arrive. Also, please, don’t use the excuse that your restaurant is far from the delivery address.. If you’re not ready for the grubhub responsibility, just don’t go for it.BUT, if you like waiting and being hungry, that’s the right place for you!
On 8/21/13, my family and I visited what I thought was my favorite restaurant; Arte Cafe. We had a party of 6. The hostess took aprox. 30mins to seat us;waitress took 25mins to take our order; the food arrived in 40mins which is already equivalent to 1hr35mins and we still didnt get lunch plates removed, coffee, or dessert. I summoned over the manager and she just brushed off the situation. That is why I am writing this terrible experience and letting others know that this is not the restaurant everyone thinks it is. SHAME ON YOU ARTE CAFE!
A classic of the UWS, Ive been here many times since I came to the city. Quiet an cozy place, rarely crowdy, you can talk comfortably with friends or clients. The fix price menu is probably one of the best in NY in terms of quality/price. The olive oil and bread are delicious. Check the Rigatoni Siciliana or the Rigatoni Pollo Pazzo.
Octopus was slimey obviously old the fried potatoes were raw they literally cut them and put it in the container fish tacos fish smelled funny and tasted off well I just didnt bother trying the other food but from the food bites I took Im still in the bathroom so Im guessing its a Gordon Ramsey shut down 🙄

2021-10-23First time here and I really enjoyed it. The place is nice and clean and the service is excellent. I had the Classic Benedict with Canadian bacon and it was super well balanced. Nothing missing here in what you expect from a classic Benedict eggs. The Hollandaise sauce extremely well done with no drama nor poorness. The potatoes accompanying the eggs are also with the right amount of flavour, not overstepping on the Benedict. Theres also a small salad as a side and is a food combination. The mimosa was ok. I ran into this place by coincidence and Im glad I did. Id come back and I recommend this place.

2021-11-25We decided to celebrate Thanksgiving close to home and since it didnt make sense to cook a 10lb turkey for just two people, going out to a restaurant for a price fixe meal was the next best thing. We got a reservation at Arte Cafe in the Upper West Side. Was very convenient as it was less than a mile walk from the apartment.Checking in was pretty much the same as every restaurant since they asked for your vaccination card. After that, they showed us to our table.I already had the Thanksgiving meal as a choice. My wife though didnt really like turkey so she opted for the Ala Carte menu of Calamari Fritti (with spicy tomato sauce), Fucilli Norcia (sweet & hot sausage in pink sauce) and a dessert of Profitereoles. My meal consisted of a four course meal ( Chestnut & Butter Squash soup, Pappardelle ( Black Truffle with aged grana padano, Roasted Organic Turkey with chestnut and granny smith apple stuffing, cranberry sauce, giblets gravy and mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie with cinnamon gelato and toasted pecans). My wife really liked her food. For me, everything was good maybe with the exception of the turkey which was a little dry. All in all though, food was delicious. However, the service was awful. We were almost served twice the wrong dish, first with the appetizer and then again with the dessert. Both times we told them they had the wrong dish..but did they apologize, of course not. There was another instance where my wife wanted her main course to go. Instead of following her wishes, the waiter took the plate and put another plate on top of it (as if to throw away). I would think that if he didnt understand initially her instructions, all he had to do was ask. and of course he didnt.I wish that the servers mistakes were a one off thing. Unfortunately, I experienced first hand how disorganized they were. One of the servers brought out a stack of 2nd dishes from the price fixe menu. He left it in the middle of the room only to realize that these orders were not for this side but for the area closer you the entrance. The saving grace was our main waitress who was very attentive, extremely nice and apologetic. The staff could learn a lot from her.I would not recommend eating in the restaurant but as mentioned, the food is good but service totally degrades the experience so recommend taking the food out instead.

2021-10-03Decor is rustic with pseudo-art deco patterns here and there for interest. I came in at 945 on a Saturday and maybe it was 1/5th full.Service was good but my truffle fettuccine was a tad bland and lukewarm. You can tell the pasta was made fresh in house but the underside of my pasta was clumpy when i got down to it. The watermelon martini was delicious, however

2022-02-04Great experience on my first visit during the noreaster last weekend. Nicely appointed space that is both cozy and SPACIOUS. So refreshing not to be crammed into a banquet with neighboring tables practically on top of you! Service was excellent: attentive but not overbearing. Good wine menu. Food was solid but not what I would call exceptional. Mushroom risotto was tasty but seemed a bit pricey at $32. Hard to find good restaurants (or any restaurants ;-) on the UWS. This is one I would definitely recommend to friends.

2021-11-21Been coming here for years! Typically have the brunch, almost always the Classic Eggs Benedict but they only had a Mothers Day Menu on Sunday so I tried the clam pasta & of course had Bloody Marys. The clam pasta was awesome. Light & flavorful. Was craving another helping after I left. Also had the fried calamari. Was delicious! Every table around us seemed to order the calamari as well. Would love to sit in the back courtyard when the weather is a little better! Love this place & so happy it survived the pandemic! Will most definitely be back!

2022-06-10They were so kind and the food was amazing the Caesar salad was to die for. Hands down the nicest people on this planet. Beautiful decor, variety of authentic Italian food but also has basics like hand crafted pizza which is something everyone can enjoy. The amazing food matched the amazing service.
