It only took one trip to fall in love with this place. It’s huge and has freakin everything. The guy who helped me was very nice, and had no problem helping me find what I needed. Their acrylic selection is amazing. If I’d brought a backpack I’d have bought more. They had the hard to find wire I needed so I was pretty happy.
When walking in store no one greeted me I went to basement person quickly put mask on. But offered no assistance. When I did get there attention they did a poor job giving me alternative choices or suggestions. went up stairs no one was working near office in back spray paint etc again found a employee to help me they were friendly and cashed me out. Also no restrooms here.
I’m rating it 1 star strictly for customer service. I called the store earlier and to ask at what time they close today, the store worker said at 7pm. I was rushing from work to make it in time and arrived at 6:54pm. The cashier shut the door in my face and showed me to go away, and just stood at the counter looking at his phone for the rest of the time. I needed only one item, which would take me not more than 1 minute to get it and pay for. I find it extremely rude and unprofessional. Very unpleasant experience, since I wanted to support small local business instead of buying from Michael’s or Amazon etc... not returning back...
I went for the first time and had the best experience Ive had in a Brooklyn store ever! Aside from the large selection of items they had to offer I was happy to recieve the excellent customer service that was given to me from the moment I entered to the moment I left. I will definitely be shopping here more often.
Love this art store. As close as it gets to Pearl Paint. Ive both dated myself and those who new Pearl Paint, just had flashbacks. If your looking to create on paper, canvas, walls or clothing, this chain has it.Michaels doesnt come close, Blick almost there, Jerrys Artorama nails it but theres none in NYC. Lees art shop has always been pricy but theyre closing or have closed.Davinci, great prices and discounts but have closed and are getting a second life merging with Print Icon so maybe more locations will open again, and a few other niche spots are gone in NYC.Artist and Craftsman has great prices, lots of variety, very helpful staff and the right atmosphere to browse and get inspired. They have the Pearl Paint vibe for those who know and remember that mega store that was on Canal. Digital media has replaced many conventional tools, but what cant be replaced A&C has it.
This store is great. I came here with a list that my partner provided for a project she was working on, and I have no real knowledge on art supplies. The sales associate (I forgot to get the name, but thank you!) walked me through selecting everything I needed on the list, suggesting the right products and approaches, and was extremely patient when I had to call home several times to double check. Will definitely come here again if I develop any visual artistic ability.
I think thats my first review ever and its only for Sarah. I called to the store asking for guidance as I am a complete newbie and Sarah created a thorough detailed email specially for me and for the project I have in mind. Ive just received the email and Im so impressed. Thank you, Sarah! This 5-star review is for you only!💐💐💐
As a beginner looking to start to learn how to paint we went there to go purchase some basic items since I really did know a lot about what I was buying they were very helpful friendly and definitely a place that will go back to dont know how far this hobby is going to last but if we need more supplies thats where Im going to go
This is an excellent art and crafts supply store for almost any kind of project! They have a huge selection of paints and various art supplies, craft materials and related items on two large floors. The layout makes it easy to find what you are looking for and all the staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.
This is an amazing store. The employees are always so helpful and know their art supplies. I have been coming to this store since it opened in the neighborhood. I’ve seen it go through a lot changes and have seen it get more and more popular with the locals. As much as I love this store I have bad experiences with someone on staff for a while now, I usually try to avoid her when she’s in. But last week when it was busy I had no choice but to go up to her and ask her for help. First of all I know retail isn’t the most exciting job but the way she presents herself just comes of as unapproachable. Every single time I come in, she’s either on her cellphone or on the computer in the back of the store, away from customers. I recently found out she’s the store manager. If you’re going to have a store manager that isn’t hands on and ignore customers then why be physically in the store. Or why not just have an actual office somewhere private where no one can interrupt her work. I never know if we’re allowed to go in that back part of the store. Last Thursday was no different, she answered my question without any genuine interest and went back on the computer. Seeing she wasn’t willing to walk away from the computer I decided to come back another day since I really did need help. I came in during the weekend and had someone else help me, they were extremely helpful, attentive and friendly. I will be coming back to the store because of how convenient it is but hopefully not when the store manager is around.
This store is the lighthouse that draws the artists of Brooklyn together. Inevitably, any artist I meet will exclaim “oh my God I go there too!” when talk turns to favorite supply haunts.Employees are almost always all artists with deep, deep knowledge of products & techniques (often because they’ve tried it themselves). There are sales on spray paint, canvas & pens often enough that it’s worth waiting for one. If you need canvas stretched or cut you may want to check out their other location near Williamsburg!
I didnt expect to find such a clean and well stocked art supply in Bushwick, but lo and behold. I stopped in to get paint pens and they were right there and ready to go. Staff gave me advice and helped me make an informed decision about which to buy. Huge recommendation to any artists in the area.
This art store has lots of products for many different types of artist to enjoy. But not that welcoming need more light, staff are not mean but just arent that friendly or welcoming and in the summer its too hot not too have air conditioning. Limits my desire too spend my money there unless I really need something
Has, pretty much, everything I would need for all of my knitting projects. The staff are friendly. The location is great since the last “craft” store in the neighborhood closed down years ago and I’ve had to do a lot of traveling to get my supplies. I never knew this spot was here before. I’m so glad. The experience has been great every time. 😊👍🏼
I really had a great time here. I had a pretty diverse list of supplies I was hoping they would have in my neighborhood. What impressed me was not only the willingness of the staff to help find the things on my list but they now had things I asked for that they previously didnt carry that are hard to find in person as opposed to online!
A variety of art supplies and materials are available here at reasonable prices which is never the case with most art supply stores in the 5 boroughs. The staff is friendly but not aggressively so in that one can browse for a while and not worry about being asked repeatedly if you need help finding something. My only complaint is that I could easily spend far too much here if Im not mindful of a budget.
Love their Park slope location too. Trust me, anyone can find something they need/want at this store and everythings very affordable. Great place for all things painting/drawing/knitting/misc craft/framing/printmaking, but also a heap of other little things you never knew you needed
You walk in and you are immediately displeased until you walk all the way to back and see what that the outside gives no justice to the inside, at all. Sometimes the outside will be so un-exciting until you go indepth. You see a whole new world of unlimited possiblities that transcend the mindset of bleek to an artistic perspective that awakes your inner Picasso. For whats its worth, this store is a hidden 💎 in the rough!
This A&C way better, bigger than the one in Williamsburg. They have 2 floors. They salespeople are so nice there it didnt feel like I was in Brooklyn! Awesome new favorite art store. And the salespeople are smarter, more efficient and use deodorant as opposed to at the Williamsburg store. :) So nice!!!
The outside of the store is misleading. Small window front but inside UGE!. There is something for everyone with an endless rainbow of art supply. My daughter goes nuts in this place and I love it too.The art supply store that was on canal street was the go to stop, but its no longer there. This is my new canal street.
I love this place. So glad it’s close to home, nothing else like it in the neighborhood. Overall, artsy supplies are expensive, but this place has a larrrggeee selection and always have sales which I feel makes it more approachable to the original inhabitants of the area.
Perfect for the artist who knows what he or she wants. I was followed around though the store (as an amateur artist I felt embarrassed just wanted sometime to see whats around and what I wanted), I think they were being extra paranoid in regards to shoplifting but whatever.
I am really glad this place is here. Its presence in the these grungy hipster wilds of Brooklyn is a time-saving convenience for art/design professionals in the area. I think it is still discovering what it is and there is a definite shift towards school supply mentality so the(still extensive) stock has shifted over time and the expertise of the employees is limited, but everyone is kind and helpful.
So I just literally left this place. I call before I came and asked if they had glue guns and refill sticks I was told yes. I get all the way there just to find out they have no refills and 1 gun. Then when I asked the female cashier when would they be getting more her response was were not getting anymore in. So I asked her so an arts and craft store does not find Glue guns and refills useful that youre never gonna get them back again as she replied by saying Oh no I mean next Friday. I didnt understand why she kept following me but ignoring me when ever I addressed her or responded like I was bothering her and she just wanted me out or something but I will never return back again.
I went to Artist & Craftman Supply today located at 1449 Broadway in Brooklyn, NY. to purchase a crochet needle. I do not recall the name of the associate who assisted me (she appeared to be african american, low hair cut and had a very friendly smile.) She was extremely friendly, approachable, patient, kind and did her best to assist me in my selection.Pro:+They have a great variety and range to options.+To my knowledge they are the only ones in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn.+ Its close to public transportation and parking was extremely convenient.Con:Prices were slightly higher than other arts and craft stores in BrooklynHowever, I was able to use my student discount. Conclusion: I will definitely return to this particular location for all my craft needs because I enjoy supporting the neighborhood shops and I enjoy spending my money in an establishment that values me as a customer.I am also looking forward to attending one of their upcoming workshops in the near future. I give this place 5 stars because they deserve it.
I dont know how long these guys have been in this spot, but we just discovered them. I think a good chunk of my wifes art supply spending has found a new home. Two floors of anything and everything she could have wanted. Lots of ooos and ahhhs. Its bigger than it looks, especially downstairs.
They have what you need here, maybe its in the basement. Down there the ceiling fans spin under the lights causing constant peripheral pulsation its disorienting. The best way to feel the different papers is by crouching near the floor with your eyes closed. All the standing and crouching and the strobes remember to breath and stay hydrated, art is hard.

2022-05-28Very cool store they have a ton of supplies on two separate floors you can explore. Prices are standard and comparable to larger art stores. Plenty of employees for assistance walking around. They have everything from model clay to calligraphy supplies to sketchbooks.

2022-03-29I shop here all the time. The staff is super friendly and kind. They are well stocked most of the times, but if you don’t find what you need they will let you know when to expect it. It’s not cheap, but it’s not pricey. Rather support local businesses than buy online.

2022-04-05A top notch spot. They had about 70% of the specialized leather paints I was looking for, figured due to high customer traffic they sold out fast. They do have a ginormous selection of art supplies for all types of visual artists. “Makes you wanna be a Basquiat on the spot” The employees were friendly and knowledgable as well. Wish they were a little bit closer to my house.

2019-08-06I have gotten many art supplies from A&C Bushwick. They have pretty much everything at a great price and they are very helpful. It is such a large store so I can usually find what I’m looking for and the art supplies are great quality. They have art supplies to meet different budgets which is great but I never feel like the supplies are inferior. Some of the more popular items can sell out when they have their big sales but I am really glad this store is near where I live.

2022-01-12This place is awesome; but temporarily -1 star: Lately theyve been closing early (4, I think?) which is *totally cool*, except I wish theyd update their hours here while theyre doing this, because its a bit confusing (Ive just taken to calling them to ask every time Im going there). If the hours here were updated then Id give a full 5 stars and a proper review.Update: No more -1 star; helpful response from owner pointed out that hours are available on social media, which I didnt know. Works for me! Thanks! Better review coming soon. :D

2019-04-04This is one of the best art supplies stores Ive been too and out of all the Artist and Craftsmans I think is the biggest. There is a top flor and lower level, the staff are very nice but not very knowledgeable about certain craft projects.
