As Is NYC in other cities:
One of the best beer menus I’ve come across in NYC. I’ve been here a couple of times and the taps moves quickly (also a good variety of cans/bottles), which makes it all very fresh, but also allows for a new variety of brews every time you go. The menu is also very diverse—IPAs, stouts, sours, etc.Food is good—just what you need at a beer bar...small menu, nothing too fancy, but good quality.Bartenders know what they’re talking about—they are beer fans, not just pouring beer. They now how to pour the different types and they have a great glass selection. It’s easy to make a decent list of beers, but the service here takes it to the next level!
Got a few drinks at As Is prior to a show at Carnagie hall. What an excellent choice! The beer list is top notch, if you like truly excellent beer from a variety of local producers, this is the right spot.Atmosphere and service just add to the experience, as the space is very attractive, and the service is excellent. The staff are amiable and unquestionably know their stuff. One of the best beer drinking experiences Ive had. I highly recommend As Is if you have discerning taste, youll be sure to enjoy!Oh, and I had some chicken with my beer which was also delicious and well made, paired perfectly with the high ABV offerings...its not recommended to split a bottle on an empty stomach!
A really wonderful bar with great selection and a wonderful vibe. However, the dismissive bartender served me a beer when I ordered a cider, after asking if another beverage was gluten-free. Before I could check if it was a cider, the bartender was gone. I took some sips, realized it had to be a beer, and the other bartender had me try the cider, which was a totally different drink than what I was given. A half hearted sorry was more hurtful than helpful. As someone with celiac, I cannot have gluten or a beer, the bartender was aware, and did not take the proper precautions to ensure I would be given the correct drink.
As Is is one of the most underrated bars in NYC. I’ve checked out a my fair share of bars all over the city but none hit the spot quite like this one.The #1 thing I love about As Is is the ambience and welcoming atmosphere inside. It gives you dive bar vibes at first glance but it’s actually very classy. There’s a good amount of tables and seating so it’s perfect for a date night or a group hangout with friends.I also love the eclectic menu of drinks they offer from beers to wine to fancy cocktails, all at a very reasonable price. I’d recommend the last word if you like gin based cocktails or the arlo if you like a good sour.
I was killing time one day, so I stopped in on a Friday afternoon for a beer. Im really into craft beer so I was very excited when I found this place. Their selection was amazing and they really had stuff that you cant get anywhere else. I also like that they have smaller pours. I didnt get the food, but it looked good. Would go back.
Small craft beer bar with good eats and service. I appreciated them making the nachos vegan and they were delicious! Had taps from places like Hill Farmstead, Carton, and Finback. Seemed to serve localish beer and offered some unusual styles. You can get pours of almost all the beers in different sizes to suit your preference.
Best bar in midtown west that I can think of. Perfect beer selection, but snap up the most interesting ones, since they may run out! Nice casual yet classy atmosphere and service. Good blend of local and international craft beer. Can buy smaller sizes if you want to test different brews, but they are not included in the dollar off happy hour. If i lived in the neighborhood I would be there too often. A little far west, in Hells Kitchen.
We had an amazing experience here. The bartender, John shared our excitement of IPA’s. He was so friendly, knowledgeable about beers and breweries and provide a great atmosphere for all guests. The beer selection was a variety of styles to appease all taste buds and were new and fresh options. If we lived in NYC, we would be regulars here.
I love this place and have been coming here for years now. I love the food and the always impressive beer list. The bartender today was so incredibly cold (out of character for their staff), so much as to taint the great food and great beer. It’s never pleasant when the majority of your time spent with friends is commenting on how unwelcoming the bartender is, I hope I don’t run into this guy again.
THE BEST CRAFT BEER IN THE CITY! Hands down the best experience that I’ve had at a bar in NYC. Great, fast, friendly customer service. Very nice ambiance, great for groups or just an intimate time with one other person. Very clean and we certainly felt safe here as they do adhere to COVID standards. It does get busy but the beer is certainly worth the wait. They have double IPA’s that have the perfect amount of hops and no weird aftertaste. It provided the perfect environment for an amazing night of drinking and enjoyment. I highly recommend coming here.
One of my favorite bars in Hell’s Kitchen. They have a gigantic range of local beers (I think 20?) as well as fantastic cocktails on tap. Plus, there’s tons of seating and areas to congregate, which is the main reason I love it. It’s perfect for a group gathering or an intimate date. I’ve never tried the food, but it looks/smells delicious.
One of the top five beer bars in NYC. Great list of around 20 taps that constantly rotate and a great selection of cellared bottles.I had a bottle of eek from off color which isnt easy to find. The beer was stored correctly and served at the perfect temperature. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.Great experience. Cant wait to try the food.
Great selection of beer, really delicious food, and the atmosphere and feel of this place are undeniably unique and cool. All of the bartenders are smart, and super nice. They dont do tastings, but that doesnt matter. Just tell them what you like and they WILL pour you something youll enjoy. Whether youre waking up at 3AM to go wait in line for a new beer, or you just drank your first craft beer and want to expand your horizons As Is, is the place the place to be.
The food is mediocre for the price but the ambience was nice. I would have had a great time dining there except one particular bartender was extremely rude. We had to wait 15 minutes to get his attention just to close out our tab as he kept letting other people jump in front of us. When I finally got the bartenders attention, he gives me MAJOR attitude and mocks me. This spot clearly has not taught their staff how to effectively and respectfully communicate with their customers. Would not come again.
They have one of the best selections of craft beer in the city. Always carry a wide selection of beer for all types of palettes through their choice of twenty drafts or their list of dozens of cans. In addition, their cocktail list has a nice balance for individuals that may not want to drink any craft beer. Lastly, their friendly and knowledgeable staff are very courteous and helpful in helping to decide exactly what you want from their extensive list.
I had been wanting to come here for a while, on the recommendation of a friend, and the beer list did not disappoint for both variety and sheet size, but wow was it loud. Like I get it, people will talk in a bar, thats beautiful. Should we have to yell and strain our ears to talk with the person sitting next to us at a beer bar that purports to be more than a rave? Right. 5 stars for beer, 3 stars for making my ears ring.
Amazing beer bar in Hell’s Kitchen - one of the best selections of craft and local beers in the city. Will always find something you love and something you didn’t expect! Great, knowledgeable bar staff. Also home base for the Manhattan Mikkeller Run Club that meets for group runs and beers every Wednesday night.
Awesome beer bar for beer nerds but also anyone who wants to try something more interesting than the typical offerings youd see on tap. They have a lot of taps and a huge variety from big juicy IPAs to stouts to sours and ciders. For those who arent into beer, they also have some tasty cocktails on tap!
Amazing selection of beers on tap. This is a great local spot with chic industrial decor. The big windows in the front open out in the summer and gives the bar an al fresco feel. Be adventurous - try new beers while you are there and you will not be disappointed. My favorite time to go is when they have Suarez Family Brewery available!
A neighborhood bar that I will keep visiting! They have some nice beers on tap! They keep shuffling them which is great! Tried the chicken wings and the chips with sour cream onion dip! I think it was a great accompaniment to our beers! Visit this place is you are looking for a no frills bar!
Quite possibly the greatest, most consistent every day craft beer tap list in the city. The ambiance is great, with a variety of seating options, and it has a bit of an upscale, classy vibe inside.Only down side, if youre a craft beer nerd, is that this place is a bit of a hip location, so it can be loud, crowded, and not as personalized as you may get at some other beer-nerd locales. However, the tap list is worth it every time.
Good food, even better beers. A revolving list of craft beers of every style. Theres an extensive bottle list to choose from if the 20 taps dont have what your looking for. Price is just right and if your not sure you can get quarter or half glasses to give something a try. Having a noon to 7 happy hour Mon through Fri is also nice.
Awesome vibe! Really well done bar. They have a good number of beers on tap. The only issue I have and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that while there were many beers on tap, a very large number were IPA. If youre looking for variety not sure this is your best bet. But the menu does rotate from what I understand so maybe better luck next time! Would go back for sure.
Living in midtown west id have to say Im a little spoiled with the selection of craft beer bars, but none of them stand out like As Is. Unlike most craft beer bars, or yet alone bars in general, this bar is able to pull off a classy date spot with its wood finishes, lettering beer board menu, and perfect assortment of food. However dont let that fool you. If youre wanting to have a beer with friends or coworkers this is also your spot! The music throughout my last visit was on point and the staff absolutely incredible! Whether youre just starting your journey through the beer world or a beer aficionado, they give you insight and suggestions thats better than all others Ive been to in the city. If youre looking for a new fun date spot or a place to grab drinks, As Is is a must!
Cool atmosphere that reminds me of bars in Seattle. 20 rotating taps, ranging from your standard beer types, to sours, to barley wine. Most beers come in small, medium, or large sizes which is great for trying new things.Only problem is the food is priced too high. Therefore I havent ordered anything off the menu.
Great neighborhood bar with constantly rotating selection of beer on tap. Love that they do 5 oz pours if you want to do some sampling. Get there before 7pm to snag a stool because it can get jammed with the after-work crowd. Modern, but warm space and a welcome add to the area.
A nice space, quiet on a Monday evening, really superb craft selection with excellent mixture of styles in 20+ taps. No casks. A few hard to find breweries on the list - kudos to the beer curator. The bartender was not so well versed in beer culture , but thats not so bad maybe shell learn with time. Food was ok, the lobster roll was delicious but extremely small, not a meal, the wings were not crispy and hot was not.Overall I came here for some beer and conversation, and there are diminishingly fewer bars where you can actually hear the people youre with. There is music playing, its clearly targeted to my age group, and its not too loud that it forces everyone to talk louder. I really appreciate this aspect and coupled with the good beer this may be my new favorite spot. Not sure all this would be true on a Friday or Saturday (well the beer would still be good).
Stunning, beautiful, immaculate bar, great service, kind of blown away by lower prices compared to similar spots in Chicago (note: if youre from smaller towns, this wont be the case). I asked for bartenders choice of beer and it was right on the mark. Was here at 5:30 and it wasnt crowded. Highly recommended.
This place has got one of the most interesting tap lists in New York City. They bring in limited quantities of niche beers and swap them out with something totally different when they kick. And the styles of beer stretch the full gamut from light pilsners to the heaviest stouts.
Great beers, great atmosphere. Only two downsides: the place gets really crowded at peak times and the beers they have are really pricy. Crowdedness is just a function of being a good bar in nyc, and prices are just because they serve top-notch beers. If youre a young person who loves beer and has some disposable income this is a great place to head after work.
Loved the on tap mixed drinks here. The bar tender was nice and fast, I think it helped that he didnt have to mix the drinks. I didnt have any of the food but the people I was with got nachos and the charcuterie board and everyone agreed they were both amazing! One star taken off due to the crowd here. There was a huge group of bros that wouldnt move when asked politely and actually backed up into my wife, tripping her and causing her to hurt her knee badly. No one helped her up, they just looked at her. Not that you can really kick people out for being loud and inconsiderate, but this place seemed to have a lot of those types.
Solid upscale neighborhood watering hole with a cozy feel. Though undoubtedly focused on beer with ~20 taps of curated craft brews, it has something for everyone (e.g., orange wine for the sommalier-inclined) with a respectable bar menu offering well executed takes on classic pub fare on small plates or in large spreads to share.
Great bar with a large selection of beers. The bites are exquisite but relatively expensive: smashed potatoes with aioli, assorted cheeses, sandwiches.I like to face the window and watch traffic flow by. Its peaceful and cozy. You order at the bar but they bring the food to your table.
Beer bar with nice brews on tap. In particular, I sampled a nice sour beer. Beer flights (great for sampling) are available. Will come back to try more of the food but got to taste a bit of the cheese board. I like that theres a cheese board and charcuterie option. Dimly lit with a lot of standing room, there are moveable stools at the counter and a few group tables by the walls. Both restrooms are gender-inclusive, but one of them was not wheelchair accessible and I didnt assess the other one. Theres also a step in the front, and I didnt ask about the plank. The co-owners are great for chatting!
My go to beer bar in NYC. The rotating taps really make you want to go back every few days to see what new beers they have on the menu. The food is also incredible. Grab a Cuban sandwich or some nachos while you down a few craft beers. They often have beers that are rare to find anywhere else in NYC.

2022-06-11Great beer bar in Hell’s Kitchen. Came across this by accident while visiting a friend and this was after I had searched for best craft beer bars in NYC and this wasn’t on anyone’s list (it should be!) loved the space and selection of beer. Food menu looked great as well but all we had was the pretzel which was outstanding. Highly recommend!

2022-04-09Came here for the first time last weekend for a friends birthday celebration. We took advantage of the happy hour menu, which ended at 6 and the bar was pretty full during this time. It started to clear out a little bit around 7ish but still busy when we left at 830. They have a lot of good beers on top but I never looked at a drink or food menu so cant say much about that. We did have a (large) soft pretzel and nachos for the table - both were delicious. The music was good and the vibe was spot-on. Overall it was a very enjoyable night. This place felt classy, not fancy.

2021-12-18Great ambiance, service, snacks and cocktails! Best Negroni in NYCStrongly recommendedSorry arti-fartie pictures will not do any justiceTrust me, THE only bar that uses Capano-Antico/Antico-formula for Negroni, it is the most delicious Vermouth and it compliments really well with Negroni

2022-05-20Rude and unwelcoming bar with a policy of not giving samples as they offer small sizes. What this means is paying 14 dollars for two thimblefuls of totally average beer. Avoid avoid avoid.
