I am struggling to understand how all of these reviews are so positive and have so many individuals that had completed this detox prospering, when the admissions director doesnt tell the truth to potential clients, how much better could it be inside the facility?About 6 months ago I reached out to Joshua in regards a of scholarship, he told me that there was one available and i was to enter the facility the next day. Unfortunately, I had someg child care issues, being a single mom that is common, but I worked it all out 2 days later, he told me that the scholarship was not available anymore. I was heart broken I wanted to get better for myself and be the best mom, something about this facility had me persistent to try again, discouraged I’ve used the next 6 months but every month inquiring on a scholarship. Today Joshua finally answers me, that they are a private facility with no scholarships, so I remind him who I am and about the scholarship that fell through and his response was merely I remember, us addicts struggle the most with trust and if we are lied to before we get in the door I can only imagine the games and tricks once admitted.Goodluck!
Absolutely dreadful place. The staff are indifferent to patients welfare eg: I left Asc with a serious case of ketosis brought on by inadequate care. The nurse was unable to draw blood - twice pushed needle right thru target vein causing extensive subdermal bleeding then gave up. During a period of extreme depression I stayed in my room for 36 hrs straight. NOT ONCE did a nurse, or anyone, poke their heads in to see if I was OK (ie not hanging from a belt over a closet door). Terrible staffing, terrible practices. Note: I wrote a much more detailed review here a couple of days ago. That review has now been removed - at Ascs insistence, I guess. The reviews here consist of dozens of 2 or 3 line 5 star reviews that offer fulsome praise and no detail plus a small number of much longer, detailed 1 star reviews with plenty of detailed criticism. Clear indications that the 5 star reviews are bogus (staff generated).
Im so thankful that this place exists. My wife has been struggling with alcoholism for a while and it was always a nightmare during her past treatment experiences. Shes been to numerous facilities and it always felt as if we dropped her off and that was that, with little to no communication beyond the initial phone calls that took place prior to her arrival. This was NOT the case at Ascendant. From the moment we spoke with their admissions director, Josh we felt safe and comfortable that this was the right place for her. We received daily updates from their clinical team on how she was progressing and felt very much a part of her treatment process without her feeling smothered by our involvement. Alex responded to all of my questions promptly and eased so much of my anxiety, hes the best!I recommend this place to anyone and cannot express how grateful I am for the compassionate and thorough care they provide. My wife was a different person when she returned home and we have Ascendant to thank!
Ascendant truly is a special place to work at. I have worked here as a counselor and case manager for nearly a year now and I am grateful to be a part of a compassionate team that helps so many unique individuals in their recovery journey. As someone who has gone through the recovery process myself, I would never work at a facility I would not want to personally get treatment from. I WISH I was fortunate enough to have come here 4.5 years ago. The Ascendant team really goes above and beyond in providing comfort, support, and motivation for our clients. I truly believe our alumni network speaks volumes to the special work we do here as dozens of alumni come back each week for an alumni meeting to stay connected. I am blessed to call the Ascendant team family and help people like I was once helped for a living.
Ascendant was an incredible experience. I don’t think I would be alive without the incredible staff and services. Please, if you need services consider Ascendant, you will not find better. I have unfortunately been to a number of programs, and nothing truly compares. Thank you a million times over!
I have to say, I didn’t know what to expect when I first came into Ascendant. I was scared and did not think there was much hope for me. The staff changed the way I looked at life and now I have more than I could ever imagine. I hate to see some of the feedback here, it should not deter anyone from getting the life changing services that are offered at this phenomenal program.
The staff at Ascendant were knowledgeable, patient and caring. The facilities were immaculate, safe and very comfortable. I came in a mess and their medical staff brought me back to health. In addition, the groups were very therapeutic psychologically and I met very nice comrades. I would recommend this place to anybody who has a substance-abuse problem. They also offered excellent after care, and I trust their recommendations implicitly. Thank you, Ascendant.
The staff at Ascendant Detox NYC are professional, courteous and committed to helping their clients succeed. From top to bottom, I have had nothing but pleasant interactions with every member of the organization. The facility itself is modern, clean and well maintained. I would not and have not hesitated to send a loved one to Ascendant to get the help they desperately needed.
Excellent place. It exceeded our expetactions. Nice facilities, professional team. The team is reliable, flexible, and really warm and caring. They were good to keep the family informed and were available also after the discharge. We are happy we chose Ascendant New York. We loved Prakash and the gentleman at the admission. I think Jeff is his name.
Luxurious, and beautiful accommodations right in midtown Manhattan which is rare uncommon!Staff care to every need for current and post detox care.Private and group Therapy was in a super comfortable setting as it should be. Food was fantastic and delicious.Ascendant is there for you with anything you’ll need to better your recovery in any way shape or form. I would recommend Ascendant to anyone and I wish this fantastic program much success in the future.
I have been working in the NY addiction treatment field since 2013 and have worked with a lot of facilities that I would never want to work with again. Ive had the opportunity to refer 3 clients to Ascendant over the last 9 months and my experience has been fantastic. Their communication and professionalism has been as good as I could have asked for. They have treated the clients ethically and with a level of compassion that is often neglected in this field. Theyre as good as it gets
The staff at Ascendant New York detox was phenomenal. They really cared.Ascendant NY helped a family member of mine. It’s been a long road and he responded well to the treatment, therapy, and constant support he found in the great staff, clients, and constant support at the facility. If you or a family member is in a bad situation, take them to treatment at NY Ascendant and watch how their life changes. My soul is finally at peace.
This place is amazing! The staff is very knowledgeable in all phases of addiction. The rooms are spotless and the personal care that is given to each patient is so condusive to healing. They welcome you as part of a family. It is not your ordinary detox facility, they offer access to psychologists, psychiatrists as well as outpatient after care.
NYC Detox that far exceeds expectations. Upscale private detox in Midtown Manhattan, and providing drug and alcohol detox and drug rehab in New York City, The Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island and the surrounding areas. I highly recommend Ascendant NY they really care about patient success and it a great step towards permanent recovery.
This place is absolutely wonderful. I just went to a rehab facility in Kentucky and I wasnt impressed at all - almost felt like a military barracks or something. This place feels like an upscale hotel combined with a hospital and every single staff member and counselor is extremely caring and provides exceptional therapy for everyones recovery, no matter how bad of shape you are in.
I will forever be grateful to Ascendant Detox for taking such amazing care of my loved one. He has been to treatment a few times before and has never received the care the this place provided.Thank you to all the staff including, Tzvi, Charlotte, Harold, Kriupa, Jeff and Debbie. You all were amazing!Yes, they aren’t cheap but it was well worth it!!!
This place is exceptional. Just so you know this review isn’t BS: the rooms could be warmer, mine was @60 degrees and the heat is in the hallway. They should also tell you to leave all electronics at home as they will be confiscated. Other than: Louis, Tisha, Prakash, and especially Kelly, made my stay here as serene and fulfilling as possible. The cleaning staff constantly sanitized everything . Food was great (too much!!!), group was super helpful and run professionally. They could use an exercise bike and/or treadmill. I would not hesitate to recommend this 5 star detox center- exceeded my expectations in nearly every way
I can not be more gratefull to the professional staff at Ascendant Manhattan. A family member of mine has been to multiple treatment centers where they were treated like a number. We had nearly given up hope. Ascendant offered the right care coupled with all the luxuries of a 5 star treatment. I can not recommend this facility enough. Thank you thank you thank you.
If you are looking for a place to be away from your substance it is probably ok. If you want a facility with qualified medical oversee for withdrawal DO NOT CHOOSE THIS FACILITY...at best they will send you to an hospital! That happened to me and they also never contact the emergency contact!!! Staff unqualified with a condescending attitude! Extra surprise charges sent to my insurance even after extensive pre-acceptance insurance check! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! They do have very good and seemingly understanding admission people....I guess that is what they need to lure you in.
BEWARE!!! I agree the 5 star reviews are all written by staff!! This facility runs an illegal, irresponsible, unprofessional, and disorganized operation that deserves to be shut down for medical malpractice and negligence. They DO NOT have a doctor on staff and nearly every single person I was there with had issues with medication. I brought my own, from my heart doctor, among others (no narcotics or controlled substances, but medication for my heart.) It took several days of chest pain and my heart rate being 120 before me figuring out what was going on. I thought I could trust their medical judgement but they do not have actual doctors at this facility. You are not safe here. I was not safe there. It turns out they did not give me, without consultation, explanation or justification, at least four of my medications I am prescribed by my actual doctors. Furthermore I was given the wrong dosage of other medications and got tired of having to dig through and see how many things I had indicated were not being provided as prescribed. Extended release pills were being arbitrarily cut, which turns extended release pills into instant release and can be extremely dangerous. When I confronted them, I was told over the phone (no actual medical professionals with the credentials they may claim actually work there) that I was lying by their COO Charisse Ebro and their CEO Tzvi Herber. They do not have a cardiologist on staff and put my life at risk by taking away medication or trying to override the actual doctors I see. There were multiple instances of this from nearly every patient there. I’ve been to detox facilities that have been nothing but professional and helpful, but this place is the bottom of the barrel by far. They only care about your bank account or insurance money. Not to mention they take away your legal rights. They wanted me to talk to their attorney, Shari Noonan, so I asked to use any phone in the facility to call my attorney to advocate for me and not allow the continued threats and intimidation tactics they were using just for pointing out how they had wronged me and how dangerous it was and how unsafe I felt. I was told for 5-6 hours I was not allowed. I was kind, respectful, cordial, and as patient as I could be. To get me out of their hair, despite me being kind and a concerned patient supposedly under medical care, the CEO, instead of considering the possibility that there were some professional policy changes they could make to improve the facility, threatened to call 911 on me and send me away in an ambulance simply for asking to call my attorney. I decided to call 911 first because the facility would not provide me with my personal items, and the police came and told them that, guess what, I was right and have the right to contact my attorney at any time for any reason. Unfortunately none of the higher ups actually show up to the facility but I have all their cards and now have to go through the headache of going through with my attorney all of the illegal, dangerous and irresponsible actions taken against me from a medical facility with no qualified medical staff on hand that can even administer proper medication. Ascendant has the capacity to do more harm to you than good. It is unsafe at that facility. Don’t let the pictures or any of their used car salesmen, especially Charisse Ebreo, trick you into putting your life at danger. I know you are struggling if you are reading this but there are great facilities with trained medical doctors on site and you deserve to be treated better than anyone will treat you at Ascendant. For your own sake, run from this place and do some more research so you can safely detox or take care of whatever medical needs you have. What an absolute nightmare this place is. Never again, and I wouldn’t wish my worst enemy to deal with any of the monstrous people named here who operate this facility. With the medical malpractice and neglect, it will certainly be shut down soon. The sooner the better, people deserve to get well while being treated with dignity and respect.
I have had the great pleasure of utilizing Ascendant on multiple occasions for detoxification services of my clients before attending residential treatment at our center. The staff is experienced, thoughtful and professional. The facilities are second to none. If you are in the NYC area looking for a NYC detox look no further.
This was my third detox center. It ranks the highest! Excellent care and compassion. The second that you are in the building youre in a completely different world. The whole staff smiles welcomes you, if your not feeling well they try very fast to help. The staff works as a team so you dont have to answer the same question 10x. They make sure you have EVERYTHING you may need to make you comfortable. The staff will smile and joke around just to get a smile out of you. I would recommend this program to anyone!
I was addicted to drugs and alcohol badly. I have visited many detox center in New York but all were useless. Ascendant detox center offered me, the best treatment for giving up the addiction. They lowered my withdrawal symptoms with ease, and I was given medication to help assist in the detox process. After detox, I had to start doing the work to heal and David helped me a lot in this. He spent a lot time introducing me to new tools and pathways. I found him to be extremely efficient at his job. Ascendant New York helped me in one of the darkest times and will never forget this rehab, ever. If you know someone addicted you many suggest this detox center.
It was a great stay. Peaceful detoxing process in luxury settings. ALL staff was amazing to have them by my side as I was kicking heroin. They know exactly what the hell people like myself were going through. Fantastic food and cool environment in the center of Manhattan.
Ascendant Detox is the very best option for medical detox in Manhattan. My experience with them and the patients Ive referred has been nothing short of smooth and professional. Tzvi Heber is always willing and able to answer the phone and assist with difficult cases. He goes above and beyond. I would send a family member to this facility.
They allowed an alcoholic in active use to leave Ascendant detox on day one with a car service/driver they were not familiar with for an inter detox transfer. The driver took the patient to a liquor store and when the patient arrived at the other rehab they had to be taken to a hospital immediately . Ascendant openly admitted their mistake but this was irresponsible behavior for the most impaired and vulnerable of people
I know the staff at this program. Their patience, determination, and knowledge of addiction is an essential recipe needed at the beginning of someones journey. I have worked in the substance abuse field for years now, and I would recommend Ascendant to any of my clients in the New York or Manhattan area.
Ascendant really CARES about taking your money! As long as you have Lots of it! I keep getting ads for this resort for no good reason. I thought I would inquire to see if it is good for referring anyone. Turns out they don’t accept Medicaid or Medicare. Don’t support luxury healthcare. Luxury healthcare should be a crime.
I was promised that I would be comfortable and that the medications are given to help me withdrawal would provide relief. They have a number of amenities to help with the detox process. The nurses and doctors were great, and I really felt seen – they listened to all of my concerns and helped provide a detox method that was right for me. Aaron Metrikin, Charisse Ebreo, David Seitz and Harold Greenberg were very helpful. Thank you.
I’ve been struggling with alcohol for many years, and found Ascendant to be very “Manhattan hip” and that shouldn’t be the reason for choosing Ascendant (in the heart of Manhattan. The staff and support groups are outstanding, and (as unfortunate as I feel to give my input), I’ve been to one too many treatment centers. So as it stands, Wa happening”two thumbs up for Ascendant. I’m so looking for them to be up and running, and hoping to attend their IOP. As I pray this to be beneficial acts.Cordially,NM
All 5 star reviews are written by people that work here. Don’t ever go here please theyll just try to get more money out of you when you get there. They act nice til you’re there and the attitude switches completely when you don’t pay more then what they asked before.

2022-02-23I am forever grateful to Ascendant! My boyfriend went there for detox and believe me when I say he did not want to go. After weeks of trying to convince him to finally get the help he needed, he was picked up by their transport seamlessly. His parents and I were kept in the loop from the moment he arrived up until his discharge by his case managers which made us all feel involved, supported, and comfortable. My boyfriend had no complaints and couldn’t stop talking about how caring the staff at Ascendant was to him. He spoke very highly of Prakash, Debbie, Jeff, and Liz. We were all so nervous going into this huge step and Ascendant really exceeded our expectations. I could tell that my boyfriend was actually being treated like a human being just like anyone else with an illness would want to be treated. We did a ton of research prior to reaching out to Ascendant and I really can’t imagine any place doing a better job. If you’re reading this and in a similar position that we were in a couple weeks ago, I urge you to reach out and speak with Josh in Admissions. I hope this helps!

2022-08-18Ascendant detox/rehab. I was a patient here for 35 days. When I arrived there I was broken. Physically, mentally and spiritually. My head so filled with fog I couldnt spell my own name. Hopeless. I was immediately and safely detoxed and my medical needs were attended too. From there I moved on to the rehab section of ascendant. I cannot say enough for what they did for me. I trusted them with my life and they saved it. They gave me all the attention and tools I needed to regain my life and live a clean and sober life. The facilities were modern and clean. The staff from top to bottom was first class. From the techs to the medical staff to the counselors. I was treated with respect and dignity at all times. Business aside these are good people who love their job and care for you and it shows. There are many people there who I consider to be a friend as they do me. They go above and beyond and if I ever needed or need anything they always have time for me. Even now. Four months after I completed inpatient. I am now 5 months into sobriety and have completed all of the outpatient part of my therapy. I still attend the weekly alumni groups because I want all of ascendant to continue to be a part of my journey. I am eternally grateful for ascendant and their great staff of kind and caring people. I would absolutely recommend ascendant to anyone who wants to change their life and is willing to have an open mind. There cannot be anywhere that could possibly be more helpful than ascendant.

2022-02-23Ive been to several treatment centers where Ive had good and bad experiences, however Ive never felt as comfortable and understood as I did at ascendant. The staff literally went above and beyond the call of duty to set me up with the best care possible. The clinical staff treated me as though I was a family member and my gratitude isnt able to be expressed in a review. I would recommend ascendant to anyone struggling with alcoholism or addiction. Prakash and Jeff especially have my gratitude for what theyve done for me. As well as the tech Debbie.

2022-08-02This is an amazing place. The entire staff is compassionate and professional. The facility itself is beautiful, located in a luxury townhouse. They helped me tremendously. I have been sober since my discharge. They provide outpatient therapy, alumni meetings. Lots of support to help you stay sober. I feel great - better than I have in a long time. I could not have gotten here without Ascendant. I am very greatful. I highly recommend this facility. You won’t regret it!

2022-06-28The in-house technical and nursing staff of this organization are wonderful; the business side is unethical and scammers when it comes to accepting cash customers. They also take advantage of people in distress because behavioral health coverage is so poor in the U.S.They are not listed with BBB, I find out now. We are in dispute regarding payment. I will do everything I can to claw back the unauthorized transactions. In addition, they bill themselves as a luxury site but those luxuries did not exist. Staff posed as qualified in therapeutic guidance when they are not.Ascendant is at best a funnel into next step rehab centers from whom they collect kickbacks.

2022-08-30It’s true that Ascendant’s facilities are updated and clean, the food is fantastic, and the amenities are many. It’s a very comfortable space – well managed, organized and leaves little to ask for.But those things aren’t what set this place apart for me. I first came to Ascendant’s detox program not knowing what to expect, both foggy and reluctant. I made my choice after a brief search for top detox programs in NYC and couldn’t have been more fortunate -- from the initial intake signatures to the moment I was discharged and beyond, I felt understood and comfortable with the incredible people they have on staff. This isn’t limited to the clinical team -- discussions with whom I still think about daily a year later -- everyone is good at their job, and everyone cares about your wellbeing, from the techs to the nurses and counselors. For detox patients – a week is not a long time. I was very impressed by Ascendant’s investment in this cohort, given our imminent return to the “real” world. It doesn’t end at physical recuperation; there are daily groups, 1:1 sessions, activities – despite the shorter stay. It’s as if someone had actually considered how to best make use of a very limited amount of time to maximize the chances of our success. I took a lot away from these, and they should be taken advantage of.To those unfortunate enough to need it, I couldn’t give Ascendant a higher recommendation.

2022-09-17***I only attended IOP (intensive outpatient program) at Ascendant, I did not go through their detox or inpatient rehab.***It was decent, pretty average, but definitely nothing average about the price. Its expensive. If youre a cash-pay, I would say its not worth the price. The IOP is 3 nights per week: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, from 6pm to 8.30pm (on the rare occasion group may last until 9pm).There are two group sessions per night, usually 6pm to 7.15pm and then 7.30pm to 8.30pm or so.There are some great counselors leading the group sessions, but the ratio of patients / addicts to counselors is poor. Ive done a couple of other IOPs, and the groups at Ascendant are the largest that Ive witnessed. Sometimes the groups were so large, and the rooms so tiny, that it was physically uncomfortable to be in (Monday nights especially).*Also, one of the group sessions is just an AA/NA meeting.* Breaking down Ascendants fees, each group costs a little over 400$. Thats 400$ for a free AA/NA meeting lol.Aside from the group sessions, you also get a one on one with a counselor every week for 1 hour. I cant say I utilized this very often. I do know that there are some really good counselors (if you can, work with Jason, dude knows his stuff). There werent any bad counselors, but you do have advocate for yourself heavily to get things done. I.e., I needed my counselor to reach out to my PO, and I had to remind dude 3 times to do it. Not really a huge deal because my PO is super chill, but thats not always the case.I asked for my counselor for a referral - still waiting on that one lol. I think maybe some counselors are maybe overworked / overscheduled. But advocate for yourself and youll be straight. There didnt seem to be any organized sort of treatment curriculum or agenda. It just came down to whatever that particular counselor wanted to do in that group - or sometimes the groups decided what we wanted to speak about that day. Thats not always a bad thing, had some great groups, but also had some totally directionless and useless groups. Also, did you read about Ascendant saying they utilized their unique NYC location by doing interactive groups at different places in the city? Yeah that doesnt happen (there was 1 bowling night in the entire two months I was there lol).I did an IOP at Freedom Institute, and the comparison is night and day. At Freedom Institute, you were given basically a curriculum, a binder full of materials, you would send a couple weeks on CBT, then DBT, then Meditation, there was acupuncture groups, art therapy groups, etc. It was honestly much better, much more organized, and significantly cheaper. Groups were smaller, much smaller. These other reviews that are like 1 stars screaming how terrible and unethical it is - I didnt see any of that. But, these 5 star reviews proclaiming Ascendant to be radically life-altering, unbelievably amazing rah rah rah, are equally absurd (also a little weird that most of the 5 star reviewers only have 1 or 2 reviews to their profile - thats usually not a good sign lol).Ascendant wasnt bad by any means, it just wasnt good. When you slap a 5 digit price tag on your program, then you gotta produce. It doesnt.I dont regret my time at Ascendant, I just cant honestly say it was worth the fees. At the end of the day, unless your insurance is cool with paying for the whole ride, youre better off taking that time and investing it into a 12 step program. They have some really good snacks. Order pizza once a week too. Lol.

2022-06-01My father was referred to this program by another NYC detox center. However, It did not work out due to the fact that they dont have bilingual staff on site. Joshua from admissions promised me that everything was going to work out on the phone. Be careful with Joshua he sells you a deal of the year with this facility!!My father was picked up by their driver and was told mid day that he was being referred to another facility in New Jersey!!! He promised everything would work out and it appeared he had contacted this facility before calling me! The driver of the New Jersey Facility dropped off my father in the middle of nowhere in NJ while he was intoxicated! Mind you he is from NY! I contacted Joshua who appeared upset that I was im distress about my fathers situation! Let me tell you Joshua and the staff at this facility do not care about any client!!! Its all about money!! He did not even bother to call me to check on my father the next day! Left a bad taste in my mouth! It starts to show you the true colors of these detox centers who claim they are there to help those in need! Stay away if you want honesty and real treatment for your loved ones!

2022-08-02This is the place to go. I had a great experience here and the staff is outstanding. The counselors, medical, groups, nurses and cleaning staff is top notch. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. Food is outstanding and plentiful. If you need help this is the place to go and please call them.
