The people at Astor Wines & Spirits are exceptionally nice. I had a gift delivery and they patiently and kindly switched it from my office to my home due to Covid. I will shop here directly given the kindness of the people who called me and the patient delivery person. Thank you!
This specific experience was brief but I hope to come over here again.Went inside and, upon asking a staff member for the location of an item I was looking for, she led me directly to the location of the item I was looking for. Cashier was also very efficient and courteous when ringing me up. Very spacious place that looks well stocked. Would love to come again to browse around.
Great selections of everything really. Prices are fair. Great location. Excellent for pick up. Excellent shipping as well. The associates are excellent and have great domain knowledge on everything. The staff pick labels are a great touch. Their website is well done. Its a really well run store on location and online. Zero negatives about this place.
Enormous liquor store (for Manhattan) with very reasonable prices and free delivery in the city if you purchase enough. About half the store is wine but the rum selection and prices are still impressive. There was also a near full lineup of the Indian scotch Amrut, which doesnt exactly have huge distribution around the world. Lots of liquor and wine tastings ongoing on any given day and the staff is helpful, enthusiastic, and know their spirits!
Great selection of wines and spirits you wont see anywhere else. Inventory are often 15-20% off Tuesdays through Thursdays. Check their website to see what they are offering during their free tastings. However in the midst of the COVID19 pandemic tastings are suspended. There are still sales typically on Monday through Wednesday. Check on their website or on the premises.
Delightful place to shop for liquor and wines. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The selections are pretty vast. I was able to find every single thing that I was looking for and at good prices. I dont think anybody would argue that this may be the best liquor store in Manhattan. If you like bourbons, this is your place lol!
Theyll get it for you if you cant find it here. A wonderful wine shop with a wide selection. In addition, the location has a pleasant atmosphere. Aside from wine, they had beers that you were trying to try. The room was also very clean and spacious. Im looking forward to returning to this place.
I know nothing about wine and had to order wine for an art show and Alex made the whole process so easy! Like seriously, I have never had anyone explain things that I didnt understand so clearly ever before.... I know nothing about wine and dont even drink, but Alex gave me a really comprehensive idea of what wines would be good for our purposes and what kinds of people would like them!! Unfortunately we had to downgrade our order a bit last minute because of the gallery but I will remember this place as being super informative and helpful!
Excellent degustation of wine! You have very friendly employees who have spoken with us about Argentine wines. Even if the bottle had not yet opened, we could order glasses of different wines. Outstanding service. Here we were the better able to find Chardonnay and White Zinfandel. If youre looking for good wine, we highly recommend this place!
Unbelievably rude staff. Arrived 3 minutes to closing. Politey asked for the store telephone number. Which I’ll need to come back tomorrow for. I asked again to clarify. Person in the photo turned his back on me. I’ll try and update tomorrow after I’ve spoken with a more helpful member of staff. Shame as they’ve been recommended and I’ve travelled from London England.
It is great to have small specialty stores, but Astor is what I wish all wine/spirits shops were like. Such a dependable selection of really quality options. Their wines run the gamut in price points and styles, and the range of liqueurs and spirits is fantastic. Also, is this the best place for Scotch in the city? From my cursory browsing over five years, I believe it may be. Would love to see some more ciders. I can reliably get Aaron Burr here, which is something I do not take for granted, but there are a ton of great things coming out of the Northeast, and it be nice to find them here.
The best place in Manhattan for buying wine and spirits. The selection and range is incredible. They have everything you could possibly want with the exception of certain types of bitters, which, due to the bizarre laws governing the state of New York, cannot not be sold in a liquor store.
Great selection, reasonable prices for location, helpful staff, and well organized. Cant speak to the wine selection but can always find a tasty bottle of bourbon, mezcal, gin or whatever I want for sipping or mixing. Do appreciate the in store recommendations with added descriptions/tasting notes. A library of booze?
I love going to your shop to drink wine! The choices are unbelievable and the owners are awesome. Your staff was also very responsive every time I asked questions. I love this place so much! They carry every bottle you could want, and the staves are so nice. I totally recommend this spot for wine purchases!
The best wine store in town! Any time Im here for company, I try to visit it. If you need a venue for special events, company or private, thats the place. I love how this wine is handled and how it tastes much better. Im sure Im going to come back and recommend the wine shop to all my mates for their excellent service and decent wine!
This is the best liquor store Ive ever been to. It has the feeling of a really high end wine shop but the prices are much more reasonable. If you want to spend hundreds on a bottle they also have ample options for that. The best thing about Astor wines is the staff. They are so nice and helpful and will work with your budget to pick delicious wines every time you go in.
I ordered a particular liquor that isnt easily found anywhere in my area and decided to give this place a shot not only because they carried and could ship what I was looking for, but also because of the positive reviews. I have to say Im extremely satisfied with the service I received from Astor Wines & Spirits. They processed my order very quickly, sent it to their shipping partner who got it to me within days of my order (I live closer to NY which is why it was faster). Being able to do all of this so well while Im sure they are very busy at this time really stood out to me. Great packaging which kept the bottles more than secure, and the price was definitely within reason. Ill be ordering again and would recommend them to anyone looking!
Will not take back corked wine. I was not a first time shopper and not looking for a handout. Was told if its open they cant take it back. Not true for any other wine store. I returned the bottle, minus the one glass that had been poured, with the original cork. Standard procedure. And their recommendations are rarely good. This is a wine I am very familiar with and it was bad. Not going back.
This is an amazing place! They obviously have been around for quite some time as the shelves are really well stocked and it there is just about a seamless variety of any sort of alcoholic product that you want to buy.The staff is super helpful and super friendly.I was looking for a specific type of rum that I have not been able to locate anywhere in the US and Canada for years, Astor wines and spirits carried they rum I was looking for, But this was only after the sales associate had spent considerable time searching the product on their PC and actually found it in the store!I will return to the store again and again and again, it is now my favorite
This is one of the best wine and spirits store (maybe the best all around?) in NYC. The selection is way above average with competitive pricing (cheaper than your dime a dozen Manhattan liquor store). Check out the rare spirits cabinets! They keep the store very clean, have an attentive staff and also offer delivery.
One of the best liquor stores in the city. Better prices than the suburbs, free shipping on $100 online purchases, amazing selection, and excellent free tastings. The main reason that I shop here, though, is the amazing staff. Extremely knowledgeable, perfect recommendations for any situation, and extremely value-conscious. You can always trust their picks and they are never pushy or dismissive. Stay fantastic, guys and gals!
Massive selection of wines and spirits from various countries and regions around the world. This is the place to go when instead of 3 different Chiantis at your local liquor store to choose from, you want a selection of 40. Interesting selection of imported stuff too from dozens of countries. Looking for a specific bottle? Search on their website first. Generally, if the website has it, it means they have it in stock in the store too. Minus one star from minimal gift wrapping capabilities (they dont have boxes like some other stores for individual bottles).
An excellent wine and liquor storeand a very pleasant shopping experience. They carry a very large selection of wines and liquors. The space is large and beautiful, and you can find many rare items. The customer service is excellent here, and they will special order items for you Id you specifically want something that they dont currently carry. They also have free tastings several times a week, conducted by the vintners or distillers or their representatives, offering the opportunity to learn about some drink and also to purchase the item offered for tasting at a discount. They will also deliver for free in many parts of New York City, which makes bulk orders easier if you dont want to lug a case or two of liquor around the city.
I try to visit it every time I am here for business. If you need a place for special occasions, business or private, this is the place. I love how the wine is presented and how it tastes even better. I will surely come back and recommend the wine shop to all of my friends for their wonderful service and good wine!
The store has a terrific selection and very good prices for a Manhattan store. The aisles are wide and easy for you to browse. The selection of wines, liquors, and whiskeys is excellent allowing almost all but the pickiest people to find a favorite or new item to try. Excellent staff too. I highly recommend this store
This is my favorite place to buy wine. I love their selections, the space is large and uncluttered, and the prices are better than the other places I have been. I would give it ten stars if I could. They also have a great selection of sake and ume shu (please add more!).
I am so glad because this wine shop really has everything that I needed, and Im thankful because their staff was able to provide me the best service ever. I really enjoyed my stop here, and I will consider this wine shop to be my number one option from now on. Remarkable work, everyone! Thank you so much!
Many thanks to the staff of Astor Wines & Spirits, especially Marc M., who was extremely helpful in selecting a very special bottle to celebrate my wedding anniversary.Prompt, professional and courteous, he guided me through the process of choosing just the right wine to suit my husbands and my taste.I highly recommend Astor for all of your needs. I look forward to working with them again in the future.
I have always loved this store! They have an amazing selection of wines and liquors. They always have a nice selection of rare finds that I dont see at other stores. The staff is knowledgeable and prices of the commonly found bottles can be moderate of slightly more expensive, but worth a visit for the rare finds!
I tried to place an order online and they contacted me asking for a front and back photo of my credit card and drivers license. They assured me that no one would ever have access besides qualified employees. To anyone reading this, dont EVER send a business a photo of your credit card. EVER. You know that 3-digit security code on the back, never ever ever let anyone write that down. Its entire purpose is to be a secret that only you as the physical card holder has written down. I just cant support a store that takes such a cavalier attitude towards identity theft / data security.
I have been buying wine here for a decade and they have never let me down, even after I moved to Boston! This place is the best for having a big selection while being well curated. They have the highest quality cheap wines of anywhere I’ve seen but also have the more high end and hard to find bottles as well.
By far the best wine and liquor store I have ever had the pleasure of shopping at in New York City. Their selection is massive, their space is well lit, clean, and organized, the staff is friendly, and to top it all off, their prices are consistently the best Ive seen in the city. I love this place.
Fantastic selection across the board, especially for their liquor section. While their prices are still New York City prices, theyre generally the most affordable overall if youre planning on getting multiple things. I finally found the rums I was looking for for a price that wasnt massively marked up, and theres liqueurs I cant find anywhere else in the city. Their staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and their frequent tastings are always a nice plus.
The best wine and liquor store in Manhattan. Full stop. Fair prices, amazing selection of spirits - especially whiskey. They have several bottlings of “store pick” spirits where they picked a barrel for their store. Check out the store pick of Elijah Craig. $35 and really tasty.
I take writing reviews seriously and this doesnt come hastily but I feel compelled for others to know about this experience...I bought 6 bottles of Italian reserved red wine that are aged and expensive from Astor Wines & Spirits and several of the bottles opened very oddly. With hardly any pressure when opening, the corks just slipped down into the bottles.Ive never experienced this before and the bottles were from a different wineries so it doesnt seem to be a winery company issue. Also, one of the wines I ordered I have had many other times and it was different this time from Astors. The red wine appeared lighter in color and thinner.Im not sure why the wines are different from here and why the corks arent sealed tightly on several of the bottles I ordered but I cant help wondering if the wines from here are truly authentic. : (
Great place to purchase the wines of the world. This store is very organized and has a wide selection of wines at good prices. Moreover, the staff really knows wines and can explain the offerings and pairings at a high level. Another nice feature is when you purchase wines, you can get the buyers tasting notes to reflect on the wines specifics. Lets here it for a great wine store! They also feature tastings on a regular basis!
Superb selection of wines and spirits from all over the world, extremely well organised and categorised. Little note cards to tell you what youre buying.Staff was very active - helping people or doing work which makes it feel like everyone enjoys being there - something I consider very important and makes me trust their recommendations.Prices were good.
Nice big store with a very nice collection of spirits and wines good choice of bourbons and rums particularly moderate prices . Theres another liquor store on Broadway which is cluttered and over priced . I will definently be adding to my home bar .They also have high end booze ranging in price from 200.00 on up for select limited stuff. Few places garner a 5 star this place comes close !
Not only do they have a great selection and good prices for what you can expect to see in Manhattan, the staff made this a 5 star experience. Very smart about their products they sell, answered a bunch of random questions I had, not pushy, not arrogant, very pleasant. I would recommend this place to anybody in the area, or if you arent in the area. There is a really wide selection and that makes it worth coming here to find some interesting stuff that you dont normally see in the random liquor stores dotted across the city.
An impressive wine store. One of the best. Some amazing and outstanding wine values for anywhere in the U.S., let alone in Manhattan in NYC. I found some very hard-to-find French reds at badass prices and their selection is clearly curated by genuine wine lovers of pure, simple wines that taste great.Im picky as hell about wine selection and pricing. Few can do both really, really well because a store has to attract a high volume of hardcore wine customers to achieve it. But, this is one of the few that sets a standard. I live in Baltimore area and will make a special Saturday trip in the near future just to get at some more of their wines. Thats how good this place is. I cant recommend it highly enough.
My favorite wine store in the city. This place is enormous. I could happily wile my time away buying things I dont need here. Expansive selection of wines and spirits from every region, carrying lots of mainstream and tougher-to-find labels. Overall, quite well priced, as well.
This place never fails me. Picked up some mixers, 21 single malts, and some party favors at a discount. They always have everything I need, and then some. Fancy plastic glasses for the balcony, and some decoration stuff. Party went well. Very very happy! One of the best stocked Liquor outlets in the City. Very respectful prices. Sales reps know their stuff.Top of my list.
Large selection of wines and spirits where youll be able to find your most obscure drink of choice, versus your local neighborhood liquor store. They also have some of the best prices with promotional discounts while offering online ordering with pickup/delivery. This place can get busy so do yourself a favor and place your order online for pickup to avoid the lines. However, dont forget to read the pickup faq. Your order has to be put in at a certain time for same day pickup.
Terrible customer service! Spencer was not helpful to work with at all. The website asked for a picture of my credit card and drivers license only to end up cancelling my order!! If the bottles you had werent in stock, cancel the order before you verify my personal information for no reason
Huge wine and Spirits Palace with tons 9f different things from all around. Ive here like twice in 2 weeks and have found quite a few international liquors that like but havent tried yet. I think I will try the limited edition Japanese Whiskey that I picked up tonight.
Huge store — the biggest alcohol shop that I know of in NYC. You can probably find anything here. I used their website to order some yuzu sake (a sweet, mild form of the Japanese liquor). They had it ready for pickup in about an hour and when I visited I just went straight to the pickup stand on the left side. Was very impressed they had something of an obscure liquor in stock!
Lots of selection of wines and spirits. My dear friend recommended me this place and it did not disappoint! Everything is neatly organized and staff and the service is great. They also have weekly wines or other liquor tastings, just take a look at their website for their schedules!
I go to Astor whenever I can - not only are they the best prices around (I know it seems backwards - how could a Manhattan store have the lowest prices?!), but they have extraordinarily knowledgeable and attentive staff who actually love their jobs. With the largest selection of sherries (way beyond just sweet ones), antique spirits/amari and just proper wine in general, ya cant help but go! Dont be turned off by any wines that are under $10, because at Astor that means theyve tasted hundreds of other options and decided that these select under $10s are worthy of being sold at Astor. Cheers!
This place is amazing! Order processing and tracking was organized despite COVID-19 woes. Order delivered was accurate and very well protected in shipping. Nowhere near me carries soju so I was excited to get my hands on some. The rum selection is also quite extensive. Found a delicious, smooth rhum from Haiti that reminds me of Bambarra (Turks and Caicos doesnt export.) I will absolutely give them my business again.
Astor is a wine lovers haven in NoHo. There are a most always some tastings happening and the staff are very knowledge and friendly as well. The wine selection is huge and they also stock every other kind of liquor that you could possibly want. The prices are good for Manhattan.
Large selection of wines from various regions and spirits. There are tastings most days of the week with discounts on whats tasting. They do occasional category sales which you can sign up for their mailing list to learn about. Dont forget to take a peek at the clearance shelves to the right of the entrance for some real bargins if they have something you like. I would like to see smaller wine producing regions better represented and a larger sherry selection.
It has a large and diverse inventory. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. If they dont have something in inventory you can ask their staff to help you set up an alert that will send an email when the item is back in stock. If you create a profile online you will receive info on Astor pay/free tasting events, sales on wine/spirit types and you can order online and for orders over $99 you get free shipping to anywhere in Manhattan.
I love the selection of wine and booze...they have many choices and aisles nicely displayed and stocked, the associates are very helpful, but I rarely need any help since I often snatch up a bottle Mellow Corn and Old Granddad (Bottled in Bond) which are super duper awesome!
I went in on a busy Saturday with a friend of mine looking to buy a bottle of congratulatory champagne. I walked in and the place was very busy but still not very loud. There were at least three different tastings going on. I believe two wines and maybe some liquor. The staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable. I walked right up to one of the gentleman that works there, as he was working on something else and asked him about which bottle of champagne I should get. He immediately knew exactly what champagne would suut the occasion and described its qualities and price point. Walked in and out in under 15 minutes for both of us to get everything we needed. Thank you!
This is the GREATEST wine and liquor shop in the city. The staff has yet to fail me on recommendations and they have everything you need and everything you didn’t know you needed. Located in the heart of NoHo and offering delivery throughout the city! Routine tastings and purveyors will show on weekends to engage and educate. The best, always!
I ordered two bottles of rum from these nice people. This is rum that I cannot buy where I live. Their service is excellent. Everything arrived in tip top shape and they were nice enough to include the boxes with the rum. Since these were gifts for work friends, it sure was much appreciated. Thanks for the great service and I will be ordering from you in the future!!
Competitively priced wines in NYC. Helpful staff to find your wine. However shelves are poorly labelled with no ratings info. You will need to get online to find wine ratings. Helpful Chinese cashier but store does not provide free bubble wrapping for travellers unlike competitor on Broadway. Wrapper sold at $2.50.
I love the store set up, wonderful selection of wines and spirits. Amazing customer service and they always have something on sale. Experience: I left my phone there on a Monday, they emailed me that night saying they had it. Went there Tuesday and picked it up with no problem. Thats how you handle a customer situation. Thanks Astor Wines and Spirits.
Good wine and liquor store that is rather spacious and allows you to grab a cart and roll it around during your pre-party shopping. The drink specials are great too and allow you to shop on a budget. They have sales every week so dont forget to check back. And if you have any questions about any of the products, staff will be glad to help. So come here for all your party shopping.
Astor Wines & Spirits has been around for many yrs. Its one of the best places for great variety of wines, and what is so wonderful is that you can go browse around and read the reviews of what the staff think of each wine. They also have a tasting bar to check out the wines.
Lapin and I came here to purchase some wine and tequila for a recipe. The staff was very friendly and helpful in helping us pick out a good dry white wine. The warehouse has a huge selection with price range for every budget. I actually spied a bottle of wine on clearance for $2.99 --- how good it taste is another story. This is the spot to visit if you need to refill your liquor cabinet or have a dinner party to visit.
Great wine store. Helpful staff. I went for a very specific bottle of wine, asked for help at the info desk, and was immediately walked over to it. was even introduced to another wine from the same vineyard/winery. Out of the way for me, so I cant say when Ill be back, but if I lived in the area it would be my go to spot.
This place has a huge selection of whiskey and wine and other alcohol. Theres a lot of rare whiskeys and the best prices Ive seen in all of new york city. They also have things like Sake. Occasionally there are whiskey and wine tasting events which can be found on their website.
Ive shopped at a few liquor stores and this one BLOWS THEM OUT OF THE WATER! The selection, WIDE and diverse. The store is clean and neatly organized which is a nice thing for any business. Lots of room to navigate the aisles without having to accidentally elbowing someone. I was asked a few times if I needed help while I perusing the store without being invasive. The price are some of the best in that area for booze. They do have tastings frequently. *** Dont just go to tastings upon tastings and not buy a damn thing. Dont let that be you.
After standing on line 45min to get in, a guy comes down the line with a notepad taking orders. When we tell him we want two bottles of Vulcan tequila. He then informs us that the line was for online order pick up only and that we could place our order online and come back tomorrow. So I say, I drove in from NJ, I just happened to be in the neighborhood (Katz sandwiches were calling me) can you make an exception, like If youre driving by and see a line outside one would think theyre open for business especially since there was no signage saying otherwise. the guy tells me that I should have checked their website, and there are other liquor stores in the area, turns and walks to the next customer. So I say to him, you should at least put signage up stating that youre only open for online orders. He reiterates the fact that there are other stores to go to. So with that said, I took his advice, and went to Warehouse Wines & Spirits on Bway.Astor Wines has lost a customer for good.
Astor offers a wide variety of wine and spirits at great prices. The staff is great at helping you select the appropriate product based on your tastes, occasion or menu.As a side note, they also offer great tasting events and classes to help everyone from a novice to a professional to expand their knowledge.
Disappointed in the online purchase process. Astor accepts the order, runs the charge (presumably as a pre-charge), then emails you and says they won’t fulfill the order unless you send copies/ photos of the front and back of your credit card and drivers license. Internet sales staff are demanding and rude setting ultimatums and deadlines.
This wine store has huge collections of wines and spirits. I was looking for Japanese sake like Dassai 23, and I walked in this place and found quite a few different sakes including Dassai. The price was also reasonable. Very happy experience, definitely gonna come back for more wines.
Ive ordered from Astor Wines for years but this was the first time I remember going to the store. The prices are usually fair to good, free delivery in Manhattan over a reasonable amount and great customer service at the store which included help carrying my order out to the car.
Read that this was the Wegmans of wine stores in NYC and for those of you who know what that means, its 100% accurate. Huge selection of any sort of wine you can imagine (I was looking for mead and they had a actually had a dozen of options to choose from). They have a large range of prices from wine that wont break the bank and wine for that super special occasion. The staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgable, very willing to offer their opinion. Also loved that the store was incredibly spacious and it looks like they do tastings there as well!
This store is an amazing place. This place has an very wide selection of American whiskey, bourbon, international whiskey, scotch wiskey and of course, wine. Walk around and enjoy the the helpful and attractive staffs recommendations. Hold on to your wallet because they have Mccallen M. Only $4500! I was actually very impressed with the range of whiskey. Laphroaig select is proceed to higher than Laphroaig 10 . . tsk tsk
This business was good to check out. They have a large section of spirits and would be hard not to find what you are looking for. In addition, they ship. I was able to send something to someone I know in Missouri at a low cost and it was there within a desired timeframe.
By far the best wine and spirits store in Manhattan.I dont know how they do it. They are huge, clean, friendly staff, yet their prices are low! In a city where there is almost always a tradeoff on one or more of those factors, Astor Wines is killin it.I havent even mentioned the regular free wine tasting AND spirit tastings they have there.
What an amazing selection and store! So I wanted to get my dad a bottle of Yamazaki 12 Scotch for Xmas. Alas, the supplies were extremely limited in PA (where I reside) and MA (where my dad resides). After some google research I discovered Astor Wine and Spirits. I called and confirmed that they had the bottle and that they worked with shipping companies that would send to MA. I then went online and placed the order.2-4 days later my dad received the package... and the bottle was broken! What a bummer! I called Astor and spoke to Santiago who works in their shipping department. What a nice guy! He felt awful about the situation and I could tell he was a genuinely concerned about my dad not getting his Xmas present on time. He assured me that a new bottle will be sent out on Monday and will be there by Wednesday at the latest. Xmas saved! Thank you, Astor Wines and Spirits, and more specifically, thank you Santiago!
This is perhaps the best liquor store in Manhattan for Scotch whisky and spirits. Talk to Steve about scotch as he is very knowledgeable and friendly. great selection of independent labelings at reasonable prices. Much more approachable accessible then Park Avenue liquors.
Astor Wines & Spirits large selection, low prices and knowledgeable staff makes it an easy recommendation not just for a special occasion but for any occasion requiring alcohol.Pro tip: their weekly specials will let you get away with a few steals or at the very least tempt you to try something new.
The reason people still go to store these days instead of cheaper online shopping is because of the service, and service only. This place used to be alright, today the experience was soo bad.Besides one junior staff whos courteous but doesnt know a lot, everyone from the counter to the staff was so unhelpful amd gave you an attitude. The cashier frowned when I told her their staff just brought the bottle I want to the counter as if its such a huge favor and burden that she had to walk for 5 steps. Asking a staff his opinion and the palate about a specific bottle, he replies you with something so general that applies to every single bottle in this category (his words not mine, basically what he said was all trees are green) also with an attitude that you asked a question too stupid for him to answer.Out of so many other liquor stores in this city and online liqour stores, apparently they dont care I bring my business somewhere else. After reading other reviews on yelp, guess you have to be white so theyd treat you nicely.
Wow. I never had such a bad wine experience. Decided to follow staff picks, spent $200 and Im sorry- that was bad! Staff has no clue about wine! I feel so sad to have such an experience not to mention my money loss. Never again. Please do not follow staff picks and save your money.
Smart knowledgeable staff. Very helpful in assisting you in selecting the perfect drink for your occasion. They have an extremely diverse selection allowing with an extreme range of prices from low quality rail drinks to the opposite side of the spectrum with top shelf thousand dollars whiskeys
Best wines and spirits store in the E.V. hands down. Big store space with an overwhelming selection of wines from all over the world ranging from a few bucks to hundreds. In the back there is a good selection of the hard stuff such as whisky, vodka, rum, you name it. The even offer free wine tastings and cooking class for a fee.
Terrific retailer with lots of things Id never seen in a store before. Broad and interesting selection of wines (e.g they had a Cab Franc from Pearl Morissette in Niagara, ON that I really enjoy but had never seen in a store before) with helpful tasting notes for most. Impressive scotch selection (e.g. all of the current expressions of Lagavulin, 8yr, 12yr, 16yr, DE, plus a 25yr Id not seen before.) Lots of other fun stuff as well. E.g. Best selection of Fernet Ive seen anywhere and knowledgeable staff who were able to discuss said selection. Wonderful store.
I am not a big alcohol fan or wine lover. Came here with my husband because he likes to have his daily glass.Astor has a whole floor of wine from around the world from red, white to porter and hard liquor. The price range also goes from $3 to $300. It is hardly impossible to find what you need here. They also offer weekly tastings. We got two bottles of red and white. I think that is good enough for 2 weeks :)
Its rare to visit a liquor or wine shop and have knowledgeable staff spaced out through the aisles to help at a moments notice. They have a solid basic selection for each type of wine or liquor and the prices surprisingly arent crazy. Be sure to check their weekly class schedule where you can sign up to learn about scotch, wine or more to your hearts desire.
Aah dont you love a wine store with real wine lovers in it, both staff and clients? Known them for many years, wish theyre closer to me...but then again maybe not, Ill spend more every week haha. Thank you for keeping quality up there Astor! Tip: check out classes and tastings schedule
Walked up to the door at 8:50 on a Friday, knowing exactly what I needed to buy - was turned away by an employee waiting at the door. If a store this size advertises that theyre open until 9, they should adhere to it. No problem - I took my business elsewhere, and will continue to do so.
The most comprehensive selection of spirits and unique, thoughtfully chosen wines in Manhattan. But the staff really makes the difference, always helpful and informative, but many are also enthusiasts who can discuss infusions home brewing or distilling, pairings, and generally operate on a level of expertise hard to consistently find elsewhere.

2022-08-14This single most impressive wine and liquor store I have ever been in. Their selection is frankly ridiculous, with tons of high end, artisan mezcals, gins, tequilas, bourbons and liqueurs. The Astor Batch selections are unbelievable and is a perfect example of how big a deal Astor is… to be able to have companies like Neta, Blantons, Elijah Craig barrel select options available.

2021-10-08I showed up at 7:50 PM (10 minutes before closing) on 10/7/21. Not my first time coming here (they have an excellent selection of pretty much everything). I was in the mood for one of my favorite bourbons but sadly it was not in stock. I asked one of the employees for a recommendation and he recommended a bottle of Medley Bros. Great Scott! Great recommendation and many thanks! Highly recommend coming here for your adult beverage needs

2022-04-19I live in FL and recently ordered from Astor Wines & Spirits because even with shipping, the price was better than anything I could find locally for the particular bottle I was looking for. I usually dont take the time to leave reviews but I felt this was warranted because the communication, shipping, and delivery was all so prompt and could not have gone better. I was ordering for a gift and the potential delivery timeframe (after factoring process time, transfer to third party shipper time, then the actual shipping, etc.) was cutting things close...ended up receiving it SO much sooner than expected. Would definitely order from them again and will be sure to visit whenever we travel to that area!

2022-08-12Perfectly fine. They dont get five stars because theres nothing amazing… But they deliver in a reasonable period of time, their prices are a little bit expensive but not completely outrageous, and there are seldom any issues.

2022-01-30Live love love this store. It’s clean, spacious and has such a wide variety of wines and liquors. Their prices are also very affordable for Manhattan. I come here for some hard to get wines and liquors. They also have specials every now and then - which is a good way to load up.

2018-06-16This was a wonderful stop during our craft cocktails tour with Brian from Urban Adventures. A fantastic selection of local distilled spirits that you’ll only find here. We found the staff to be super kind when sharing their expertise.
