First time patron.Great brunch spot option for fresh and delicious food. Food was 5 stars. I ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap w salad and a coffee, wrap was sizable and quality, just a bit messy. Coffee was great.Friend ordered the quinoa bowl and a latte. Quinoa bowl was flavorful and fresh. Latte was quality. We ended up buying some ground coffee as well.Would’ve given 5 stars if we were greeted more quickly and told it was a mobile ordering restaurant. Other than that, staff was accommodating and friendly.
UPDATE: Like on many other bad reviews here, the owners reply by telling customers they’re liars. Never a proper apology here or when you’re at the restaurant. Waiting a long time for being seated/served is not rare in NY, especially for brunch. But the rudeness from the owners + servers here is what makes it different. I never leave bad reviews because I know how hard to keep up a business is but kindness is FREE.Been here twice. It’s a cute place and they have an extensive menu but the staff is rude and the food is just ok. The first time they gave me my orange juice in a smaller glass because they ran out of the regular one and the waiter told me it was the same amount, which is literally impossible. I had to pay like $8 for two sips of OJ. Then the second time I had to wait an HOUR to get my food after I ordered. When I asked for the status of my food (which, btw, had to wave multiple times to the waiter to get his attention from a very visible table) he said “it’s coming” and didn’t even look at me or apologized for the delay.I always have friendly service in Astoria. This place is the exception. Also, you have to order from your phone and pay on the spot. I thought that would make things easier/faster but it’s the contrary.
Parking around here is ok... not the best but ok. U cannot park in front as the parking regulations dont permit but the streets around are not super hard to find parkingTheir restaurant looked like some sort of retired butcher store, plenty subway tiles and ope concept kitchen.Because of the Pandemic, the inside sitting is limited, however one thing that is interesting and a little annoying at the same time, was the fact that all the orders were o be done by app. I kind of get it, understand why that needed to be done, but it is an extra step to order as if it was to goAll the food came in to go containers.... but that was not he biggest problem, the problem was to get service if we needed extra stuff, once the food came that was kind of it....They are understaffed for a Saturday I felt.CHAI WITH COCONUT MILK- it as pretty delicious, I definitely recommend however, at the moment they are serving all drinks in paper cups so gif you are a person who appreciates a good porcelain mug or a glass, avoid ordering coffee here at the moment.FRENCH ONION SOUP- I must say I am pretty impressed with the soup. It had the right amount of flavour and the perfect amount of salt, it was pretty hot when it came out and the little cast iron bowl keeps the temp pretty nice and hot. this is a good soup for sure.FRIED TRUFFLE MOZZARELLA FRITTER- This was pretty impressive looking for sure, There was plenty of béchamel sauce all around, this one is literally not one that will lack sauce if you are a sauce lover. However even tough I am a cheese lover and a béchamel enthusiast I can safely say that finally I found my match here, this was way too much cheese, so much that I was not even able to realise the flavour of anything else, the truffle flavour was faint and very much masked by all the sauce, the bread was ok but way too fried and the panko it gt pretty hard pretty quick, as it was so cooked. The panko did not need to be there, it does hurt me a lot to say this, but, the béchamel is way too much, they can cut back a little bit so the truffle flavour can shine through..... yes, this dish has plenty of potential is these changes are made for sure. The great part about this dish is that it is listed as a appetiser but the serving is great for a meal.Overall I cannot say f the meal would have been different if proper plates were used, but I will come back eventually to update this review. The food looks good and has potential, if you try it let me know!
Disappointing service. It’s was overcrowded and only two waiters on deck to serve. The service was so bad, we sat for 40 minutes waiting for sunnyside up eggs and bacon, egg and cheese. They serviced everyone else bigger orders first even though we got there way before the table next to us. We got tired of waiting and paid for our coffees which was also bad and left. I would avoid this place just for the bad service alone. The waiters were too busy and too irritated to be nice at all to anyone. My advice is to Staff more workers. Avoid this place.
TLDR: good food, just avoid the chorizo hash for now due to significant pond of oil.Went here for a nice relaxing Sunday brunch and they have about 4 outdoor tables on the sidewalk seating 2-4 people each and with the bigger tables having umbrellas for shade.I had the chorizo hash and eggs and my girlfriend had the eggs Benedict. I recommend the eggs benedict as it comes on a tasty biscuit with home fries but stay away from the chorizo hash if you get thrown off by a lot of oil. The meals are served in aluminum containers and the oil was accumulated all over the bottom; it might be better if served on a plate?
Food was ok, we had the enchiladas breakfast and the quinoa bowl (whose poached eggs were not poached). I feel like we would have enjoyed the place and the food better if 1) everything was not served in plastic containers: water juices knives forks everything was plastic (why???) 2) someone was actually there to take your oder. You have to use a platform online - which is ok - that charges you a service fee - which is NOT ok. Again, why bother going out for lunch/brunch if you are having all the disadvantages of a delivery?)
A nice corner street eatery. The flags and huge windows draw you in. I was given room temperature water, no ice, on the hottest day. The food was great. Chicken sausage, scrambled eggs, home fries, toast. Honey sriracha fried chicken, no bun and old fries. Mozzarella fritters that had an alfredo sauce, but not good for the most part. The frozen strawberry margarita was slush but still good and refreshing.
Astoria Provisions pancakes are amongst the best pancakes i’ve ever had. They are huge, i shared the berries pancakes🥞 with 2 friends (i think the sauce should be on a side and not on top).Nutella french toast where good as well very crunchy and delicious.I will need to go back for some savory dishes and more pancakes for sure!!!Get there early, before 10am if you can, it gets a little busy 10am-1/2pm
God forbid it’s a snow day and you wanna order food. I called this lovely place and placed my order. Gave an address for delivery and all which is a few blocks away from the shop. I was told it would take an hour. An hour and 20 minutes pass and I call back. “We DoNt HaVe YoUr aDdReSs” Instead of giving paying customers the run around just say hey it’s a snow day we’re not delivering. Horrible customer service don’t have people waiting for an hour for food you didn’t plan on sending.
Update 5/28The place continues to try, the menu evolves and is pleasant. Unfortunately the lack od staff still eludes this place and holds it back. No fault of who is working there, they are great... But never enough staff leaves coffee unfilled, orders feel like if I dont go now, I might not order.... It is a shame and something I hope can be corrected. Will try again at some point, but not excited to do so tomorrow.Originally posted late 2017Welcome to the neighborhood. For those who remember Astor Bakery, consider this place a modern update with a fresh menu. Things are still new here so Im sure things will change as they settle in. I am a bit disappointed that the prices are a bit higher than I had hoped, not overly crazy but do pay attention as the little things add up.Locals tip: Though they open officially at 8, you can usually sneak in at 730 for a coffee and baked good. Great for morning walks!
Initially when they first opened, I left a review of “love it!”. Now that I had a chance to go in, sit down, interact with the employees...I REALLY LOVE IT! Such a cute, quaint spot! It’s adorable. The employees are so friendly and personable. Also, these were the best set of pancakes I’ve had in months -seriously! So fluffy! Great job!
The perfect brunch spot for our family’s first indoor dining! Great variety of on the menu, mouthwatering dishes (our faves: fried chicken sandwich, burger, and nachos!), and very nice staff. Oh, the open/airy space and the sun shining through definitely made the experience a complete win. Will definitely return to try more of the breakfast dishes. (Nutella French toast!!!)
Had the chorizo breakfast tacos today and they were so very bland. No flavor! The only flavor was the salsa verde sauce I added. My fiancé had the shrimp and grits which he barely even ate and said the shrimp was too fishy. Not to mention the service… was very slow and very minimal. Overall, not a good experience esp since we had been wanting to try it out for the past few months.
Edit 08/03/2021: Response to owner. You are sadly mistaken. You can check your camera footage. No one came outside to instruct us as i said and no one explained anything to my party. To see that you would blatantly come forth and write a reply insinuating that i was a liar says enough about your service skills. Because of your lie of a reply or sheer confusion in who you served i can see my 2 star review was too gracious. The food was 5 stars, the Service was 0 stars. After waiting 5 minutes in a half empty restaurant to be seated they told us we could sit outside. After 30 minutes of sitting outside with no interaction from staff my party realized we could follow a sticker off on the side of the table with instructions on making a mobile order to our table. After creating a mobile order to our table and waiting 10 more minutes (45 minutes total so far) a waiter came outside and asked if we needed help finally. He had no idea what our order was and what we were doing. After reciting our order to him he gets the dishes but keeps having to ask us what we ordered. After the food was delivered to us almost 1 hour after entry we left after a total of 1.5 hours with 2 interactions and no refills offered. They didnt even help us make a mobile order or give us instructions on making a mobile order. The service here was unattentive and terrible and I would not recommend dinning here. Youre better ordering delivery and hoping they get it right.
First time here. Unbelievable service from the staff and especially Alex , our server, he was so friendly and happy. The food was fantastic. The omelette was delicious but the home fried potatoes were the best I have ever had. My wife’s Classic avocado toast with eggs was so good. Our new favorite breakfast spot.
I think this place has absolutely fantastic food with a pretty decently sized selection of options. I think theyre doing the best that they can to adjust and adapt to these covered restricted times and even though there are some hiccups with the ordering system and moments of confusion with whose order is whose the fact of the matter is I came there to eat and what I got out of it was an absolutely fulfilling delicious and personalized meal that left me wanting to come back again and again. Plus their cornbread muffins and their cinnamon crumble muffins are absolutely out of this world delicious.
Food is great service is good Im kind of old school so the idea od ordering through an app at my table not for me but what made up for that is the mozzarella in truffle sauce, said I wouldnt go back because of ordering system but then that plate of delicious ness came out and damn it Ill have to go back
These guys nailed it! I had the pulled-pork sandwich, perfectly seasoned tangy tender and sweet and the Coconut Creamsicle cocktail it was to die for- ice cold creamy, citrusy, velvety mix of fresh coconut milk, and fresh squeezed o.j. with coconut rum... thats what heaven would taste like if you could drink it from a glass. The upscale decor is warm and inviting, the service was unpretentious but down home friendly and the menu was chock full of artisan twists on my fave comfort foods, and the space was so pleasantly open and airy for a spring brunch! A.P. is my new fave!
The food was really good, I liked my Nutella french toast and my girlfriend liked her huevos rancheros. The coffee was good as well. My biggest complaint was just the wait time for the check. We went for Saturday brunch and it was a bit busy but it shouldnt have taken anywhere near the amount of time we waited to get the check. It took about 20-25 minutes to get our food, and then no one checked on us for the remainder of our time there once our food was dropped off. Which was great until it was time to get the check. We were there for about 80 mins, at least 30-35 mins of that was attempting to get a box for leftovers and the check. We spent 10-15 mins trying to give the waitress the hey we need the check look/sign she walked by us numerous times without looking. After 10-15 mins of trying this my girlfriend walked up to the bar to ask her for the check and a box for leftovers, she said yes just a couple mins. Cool. We literally waited another 10 mins and then all she brought was a box and then walked away.... Its now been 20 minutes, she didnt check on us again for another 10 minutes where we had to ask again for the check and finally got it a few minutes later. They definitely need more help on weekend brunches if this is how long it takes. And we were relatively low maintenance, got our coffee/water/food and we were good till we needed to leave. Good luck if youre at brunch trying to order multiple drinks.Again overall good food/drinks and the employees were nice, they just need more help for weekend brunch it seems.
Awesome all day breakfast place, the best French toast I have ever had. Fluffy, sweet and crunchy French toast madr me go there 6-7 times till now. Home fries and coconut coffees are good. Overall, a good place to spend your weekend morning if you combine it with a trip to Astoria Park.
Astoria provisions is a good brunch spot that has room to grow into a great brunch spot. Service is slow but attentive. However, the food is a star thats worth the wait. In my experience the sweet dishes are superior to the savory. You should make Astoria Provisions a weekly stop because its only going to get better.
This was, without question, the worst dining experience I have ever had. I almost feel like I must have been pranked, because how this restaurant has more than one star is beyond me. Between the terrible service and the even worse food, we will never be returning. You can stop reading now, but full story below.Upon arrival: the restaurant is very crowded and we see two waitresses running around. No one greets us, so we stand awkwardly by the door. Finally were able to flag down the coffee barista who tells us it will be a fifteen minute wait. We see an open table, but assume someone is still using it. 15 minutes later, they realize whoever was at that table was, in fact, gone and slowly bus it. Once they table was bussed, we had to ask if we could sit down because no one told us to.We sit down. Another 15 minutes go by as the waitress runs around us. No water put on the table, nothing. She finally arrives and tells us she is so sorry, they must be the only place open (New Years Day). No, its just a heavy brunch day- we thought this was common knowledge, but apparently this restaurant didnt know. Ah, the slowness starts to make sense. She takes our order: Coffees, Chorizo Baked Eggs, Cheddar Grits, Tortilla Soup, and a CUP of the Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese. A bit all over the place, but it was our first time and we wanted to try things!45 minutes later, burnt/too strong coffee, no food, and no one has checked in. I asked for more water at one point and she forgot about it.Food arrives: The Buffalo Mac and Cheese has unseasoned fried chicken on top, but looked bigger than cup size- exciting we thought...until we tried it. Bland chicken, a weird tobasco flavored cheese sauce and undercooked pasta. The Chorizo eggs were so over done, they seemed to have a plastic film over them- inedible and the whole dish tasted like canned tomatoes. The Tortilla Soup didnt seem to have any flavor- did they use plain water as the broth? And the grits were soupy and had no seasoning whatsoever. Inedible. We didnt eat much of anything and we flagged the waitress down for the check because we just wanted to get out of there. She asked if we wanted boxes and when we said no, she was shocked. We told her we did not like anything and she kept saying that people normally love the food. How?! She was very sweet and comped the Chorizo Eggs. On the check, I was charged for the BOWL of Mac and Cheese, so I had to ask her to change that. (Apparently the large cup was the bowl portion, but how would I know?) It was all very awkward and terrible. Never again.
I really like this place, but would not recommend for takeout or when sitting at the bar. It takes an excruciatingly long time to get your coffee or food that way, and they dont seem to really care (nonapolegtic, almost seems as if the barista is avoiding you). Otherwise, its a cute brunch spot in a neighborhood with few options. Personally, I think they should open earlier during the week and cater to people who want a coffee spot before their commute, and they should make the process of ordering coffee to-go a lot smoother and faster. Also would recommend weekday evening hours. And better training of staff to be more courteous and hospitable.
OPEN FOR DINNER 7 DAYS A WEEK!!!! Google hours here are incorrect, they launched dinner at the end of September! So exciting because the brunch is amazing and the dinner....OMG, icing on the cake! The artichoke dip appetizer, beer can chicken, lobster bisque, Mac and cheese....sooo much to choose from and it’s all so delicious! Ambience is great too and the staff is very attentive and friendly as usual, a staple for us now! Try it for dinner, you WILL NOT be disappointed!!!
Cute corner spot in Astoria serving good quality food at very reasonable prices. I got the lox bagel with cream cheese and thinking about it now makes me want another! The cafe is also very close to Astoria Park so it is ideal if you want to grab a coffee or tea and stroll over.
This was probably the worst restaurant experience I ever had I don’t even know when to begin!!!! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left nothing went right!!!!! From the waiting staff to the food was just from bad to worse .I have been in the restaurant business before and when something is wrong or the kitchen is slow you should go around your tables and let your costumers know maybe offer more caffe or water and keep theme informed our waiter completely ignore us for an hour and when the food came my eggs where raw and cold (how difficult can it be to do 2 poached eggs right?!!!) is Brunch after all and then to add insult to injury when I pay cash for my check The server took it upon himself to auto deduct 18% tip from the change . Thats unheard of and illegal...Please save yourself time and money go next door or somewhere else
I REALLY want to love this place. The atmosphere is great, I enjoy the minor esthetic changes made , the coffee is fabulous and the staff is friendly and attentive. Unfortunately I compare the food to Astor Bake shop and it always pales in comparison and falls a bit short. I used to crave the eggs Benedict at Astor, the amazing cheddar biscuit and perfectly made hollandaise. The Provisions version included a flavorless dry cheddar biscuit with the texture of a hokey puck and a bland hollandaise with zero flavor. But the eggs were poached properly. Everything I ever get there is just ok, but not yummy, including baked goods. It all seems to lack seasoning and soul. Please re adjust recipes because I so WANT to like you!!! Really I do !!
Its got large windows sitting down hill from the Astoria Library abd its located on a bus line that easily connects to the subway. So, if you are from Astoria or notstop in abd enjoy our onsite bakery goods and sandwiches oh! And while you re at it have sone Coffee or Tea wont ya!!!

2022-06-16Me and my friend were so excited to try this place on the weekend! But we’re disappointed. Everything looked delicious on the plate but food was plane. Fried Truffle Mozzarella Fritter tasted extra rich and had a bad quality to it - to the point both of us didn’t feel good after it. You’d need to order your food through your phone and pay right away.

2022-05-30I love the vibes of this place and was so excited about the variety of the food, but definitely didn’t have a good experience. My granola yogurt was something I could have made myself in home, I barely got any granola and no honey on top of it. My iced latte was warm. My partner ordered eggs benedict and didn’t like it either, the consistency and taste were not good. Also his glass smelled like egg. Place was definitely cute, great vibes. But food really didn’t work for us.

2021-11-06Great brunch spot, come hungry! The chicken biscuit sandwich comes with two pieces and elote fries feel like they are never ending. My favorite dish was the shrimp and grits, so rich and creamy. You’ll want to mop your bowl clean with the biscuit.

2021-12-12Wrote the same on yelp: When a restaurant offers a brunch and breakfast all day menu of dishes that you couldnt even try to make on your own at home, it is is worth revisiting over and over again for the genius to come out of the kitchen. Worth every penny. The flavors the chef creates in these meals is like going to a zagat rated restaurant, fresh, new, and unique. We only tried 3 dishes and we cant wait to go back and try all the others. So many unique flavor options to choose from on that menu. The hot chicken biscuit, better than chicken and waffles and the fried chicken was so flavorful. They had a cheesy grits breakfast skillet with korean bbq flavored bacon and kimchi that is so balanced in flavors its almost impossible to identify the actual seasonings and perfectly salty and sweet and perfect. And they make this mozzarella stuffed corn bread thing smothered in a truffle cream sauce...so decadent. Get it to share, too filling for 2. Seriously award winning. Now if youre ordering a plain run of the mill dish, in my opinion, thats on you. The non-traditional dishes on this menu are begging to be tried. And yes, the flavored coffee/latte options are also delicious, they make perfect peppermint and gingerbread lattes.

2021-09-26First time coming here and I have to say I’m very impressed. Delicious food with fresh ingredients. After searching, and trying, many different breakfast/brunch places in Astoria, this one has taken the cake for me. Best tasting spot for sure. Will definitely be coming back.

2022-05-08Incredible place! Everything ordered was amazing, and the service is great, definitely happy we found it!

2021-10-09Getting seated was a little harrowing due to the aggressiveness of the man who was taking party sizes, but eventually understood when there were so many people trying to cut the line or skip showing their vaccination cards. The service was prompt, the coconut latte is amazing and their qr order and pay before you eat service made leaving quick and easy. Would definitely return!

2022-01-31I was in NY visiting my daughter and really looking forward to a cozy Sunday brunch with she and her friends, so we chose Astoria Provisions. Great location etc. But OUCH! You order on line through your phone, no menus to savor, no wait staff to connect with. As if we arent on our phones enough already! Food arrives hot, and really good but not great. No one came over to ask how things are and when it is time to bundle up leftovers, I am instructed that the containers are at the end of the bar, self-serve style. Ok, enough is enough. And while their food is delicious, it still is just basic fare. I want good old fashion service and friendliness. And someone to bring me a menu and ask me how Im doing.

2022-03-19Love the fresh orange juice 🤩! A place where youd stay for the atmosphere and enjoy the food.
