This guy should be reported to the Better Business Bureau! Hes a dishonest crook. I phoned to ask how much he charges to replace boot heels. $20 fair enough. When I picked up my boots he charged $29...ok, I didnt argue. I wore the boots twice, just to work, not out dancing or hiking, and noticed the heels wearing down. 3 months later they fell off. I took my boots to him yesterday, and he said it wasnt his work, he doesnt use that rubber to replace heels (btw, what he put on my boots did not match the original heels, and caused the boots to feel a little strange). He also said he wouldnt charge $29, but only $25 (another lie) t said I wasnt lying and got angrier than Ive been in a long time. He refused to acknowledge that he put those heels on (a total lie!) and said hed replace them for $15. I said maybe small claims court, he said hes not afraid hes been there before (gee, I wonder why). Maybe he does a good job sometimes, but hes a cheat and a liar and I am going to take further action. Also he glued a shoe in the past, and charged me $7. It quickly came unglued, and he charged me $10 to fix it. Said he was in a good mood for the $7 charge. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!
The guy should retire. E V E R Y time i go in he tells me he wont fix it. THEN finally he will after I remind him he is in business repairing shoes? no? Then he charges me over priced. Finally i googled and going to fontanas instead. I have paid him 100s for simple things like installing a zipper, cutting a boot in Half. Replacing stacked heel. NOT worth the hassle.

2022-03-28I brought in several pairs of shoes for repair & cleaning but quickly ended up leaving because of an unexpected and very uncomfortable interaction with the shopkeep at Aurora Shoe Repair. While discussing the prices for repairs, he suddenly became irate, asking me what country I was born in and telling me “how things are done in this country.” Hate to break it to you bud, but I’m a born-and-bred American citizen. I don’t know what country YOU’RE from, but in the America that I’m from, we treat each other with respect. No worries though, I was able to get my repairs done at Fontana down the road for a lower price and great service.

2022-02-13I actually met the older and he seem really friendly. I believe Ed is his name. He did some boots for me before covid and he did an amazing job fixing the heels. Stop by before you throw away your favorite heels...he might make you fall in love with them again.

2021-09-15You can expect excellent work from Aurora. The soles were almost completely peeled off of one of my Thursday brand boots, and I got them back in better shape than when I bought them. He put a high quality Dainite sole on, treated the leather with waterproofing, and even added a tongue pad for one of the boots I mentioned had heel slippage at no extra cost. Good turnaround too.

2020-10-15This is the best leather shop in Ithaca, great service on all your leather goods not just shoe repair. Quality work at a reasonable price. He has saved many of my leather jackets with bad zippers, much cheaper than a new coat. Very friendly and knowledgeable customer service.

2015-01-08A very fair price for excellent work. Have taken in high heeled shoes and low heeled boots to have the heels replaced/repaired and a pair of shoes that needed a complete sole replacement.Great experiences all three times. The most recent repair (on my boot heels) cost around $20 and was done is less than a week (dropped them off on a Monday afternoon, picked up on Thursday morning). They also buffed the boots clean! The two men who work there (I think it may be a father and son duo) are very kind and they seem to do quite a lot of business. Highly recommended!

2014-05-06Did a sloppy repair on my shoes-looked lousy and more importantly wore through fast. The price was quite a lot for the soles and repair. When I took them back he accused me of wearing them a lot. Yup, I had for two weeks! Had the audacity to get lippy when I brought them back again...never repaired correctly. Is he using cheap soles? Does he put the time in to repair things right? Does he care enough about customers to explain his expertise and costs nicely? Three strikes and youre out for me. Cant say I will try him again. I had brought something else to him in the past and it was well done but now I will drive to Cortland to get my shoes done.

2014-01-26They (he) replaced a zipper on my fav. pair of leather boots- did a good job ( though it couldve been a tad neater), had them done in a timely fashion, but the price was almost as much as the pair of boots themselves. That being stated, small local businesses and craftspeople need our continuous support, and Im sure he charged what was appropriate for the work. I did not feel swindled.

2018-01-27Aurora Shoe Repair can transform and seemingly take years off quality footwear. I brought them a pair of boots that was 25 years old and had been worn thousands of times, and it felt like I was getting a new pair of boots when I picked them up... only already broken-in! WIN! They can also sell you the products to upkeep their great work, at a very reasonable price. Thanks Aurora!

2012-10-01Ive been very pleased by the quality of work, rates and timeliness of this gentlemans service. One reviewer scored him a zero, referring to attitude. In my first experience, I did find the owner prickly and off-putting, but I found that with extra effort in communication on my part, we came to an understanding and I have since taken many more shoes to him for repair. Not everyone has A+ communication skills, but communication is a two way street. I find that having good, cheap and fast service, far outweighs having a warm fuzzy feeling about the customer service aspect.
