Not a good experience. The car was mostly fine, however, the service was not. I called to ask if they had any cars with CD players (yes, old fashioned) and the guys answer was, I think so, but I dont know. I asked again when I got there if he could try to get me one with that feature, and his reply was a dismissive, some cars have them, some dont. He made literally 0 attempt to help me out on that. Id have preferred if he just lied and said, no, we dont have any.Then the next employee showed just as much initiative. When examining the car for scratches/dents/etc, I pointed out a huge black scuff on the back bumper and he just kind of shrugged, and I asked if he wrote that down and he said, yeah, yeah, I got it. He didnt get it. He didnt write it down, and when I returned the car, they blamed me for it and I had to fill out a damage report. Luckily I had bought the insurance, so it was covered, but the employees here are clearly not concerned with doing anything resembling a good job.Also, on the pickup slip it said full tank of gas, when there was less than 3/4. So when I filled up before returning, I ate the cost of that extra amount.Then, 2 weeks later, I got another charge for $33, apparently for going through tolls. But I paid those tolls in cash. They never mentioned that the car has some sort of ezpass that automatically bills you for those. How to rectify this charge? Submit the toll receipts. Which, of course, Ive saved in my scrapbook of toll receipts, as you do.Lastly, when I reserved the car online, my total (after taxes/fees/etc) was $148. Then they billed me $187, because apparently there are additional taxes and fees they utterly neglect to tell you about on their site, making it seem like their prices are way more competitive than they are.I rented a car from Enterprise in Greenpoint a couple of years ago and the experience was the total opposite. Id suggest going there rather than here 100%. Unless Im in a pinch, I dont think I will ever use Avis again.
Terribly slow service. Even when there’s a line, they don’t try to hustle. Slow at the counter, slow to get cars ready.They claim it’s because of the sanitization process but unlikely given they have been slow for several years and the counter service itself takes 15-20 minutes per person / reservation. Also, if sanitization is slowing down the process, just hire additional folks?
Bottom line - I did get a car...but the person at the front desk delivered truly unforgettable memories. In all the bad sense of the word.Kim (the name on my contract) seems like she mastered all the no-gos of client service: being not helpful, not nice, not smiling, not approachable, no thank-you, no nothing. Basically wrong person for the job.

2022-09-06Seems easy enough since it’s not at the airport but insane wait times, not helpful staff and always a wait to get your keys or have them find the keys for your car. Next time i’ll go to the JFK or LGA location for the better service

2021-12-02I’ve rented with them a couple times. The first experience went off without a hitch. The second experience, we arrived a little after our designated pick up time (after having reserved at least a week in advance). The attendant working the counter informed us that there were no cars available. There was no courtesy call to let us know this ahead of time. The advice we were given was a quick verbal list off of other Avis locations in the Manhattan area we could call to see if they had any cars available. Weeks later, I realized that the charge on my card for the reservation booking was never refunded and had to contact customer service regarding having that removed. Corporate Avis did that with no issue.So all in all, customer service on the second interaction was lacking, but maybe the low inventory was a fluke situation in which we were caught? Either way, we now use other options for our rental car needs and no longer use this location. My advice is to book with caution.

2021-10-27DO NOT RENT FROM THIS AGENCY. I turned in the car 30 minutes before due on Oct 17th 2021 and Avis claims that I never returned the car and have charged me an exorbitant amount because they cannot resolve their own internal inventory discrepancy.

2021-06-12Not sure why there are so many bad reviews here. I was very hesitant to say the least prior to renting a car here, yet pleasantly surprised.I had made a reservation for Saturday instead of Friday by mistake. Lindsay simply said no problem and before we knew it she handed us the keys. She was funny and friendly and we were done in no time.Car was good, no complaints there at all.Returning it was super easy too. She looked over the car, said we would receive an email and we were on our way. Again, read every review prior and still am unsure as to why they’re so bad. Would return

2021-11-21Renting before the long weekend, got a free upgrade. The car was very new and cleanish.Pick up experience was ok, though I spent about 45 minutes being the second person in the line (and it was growing behind me). Very friendly staff, though slow experience due to communication over the radio.Drop off was bad. The signs for parking entrance were misleading as the Avis gate was out of order and no additional signs. The staff was quite rude, teaching what to do instead of focusing on moving forward with completing the drop off. Instead of just driving in and leaving the keys at a box or a counter, had to go back and forth a few times, talk to the person at the counter and the person accepting the car, leading to about 15 minutes drop off experience.Optimizing processes seems to be a low hanging fruit to improve overall experience.
