Horrible road side and customer assistanceI rented a car for use on vacation. I drove to the my first destination and when I went to start the car the following morning it only made a ticking sound. I called road side assistance and 45 minutes later finally spoke with someone who told me there were no cars available in the area. ( while waiting for road side to answer I got the car jumped and started). I expressed my concern that the vehicle may not start again and was there any location I could drive to and exchange vehicle. The best advice the agent could offer me was to stay where i was at and maybe on Monday a car would become available. This was on Saturday and I was not at home and had checked out of my hotel. I got to my vacation destination only to have the car not start the next time I went to use it. Called reservations , explained issue, they sent me to nearest location to swap vehicle. The vehicle I got smelled like smoke, had an inspection sticker that was expiring before I returned vehicle and needed an oil change. There were no other cars available. The next day I went to a different location after calling customer service and explaining situation. Sent 45 mins to another location to get a new vehicle only to find that that location did not have a vehicle in the size I needed. I kept what I had, returned the vehicle without issue. Later that day my email receipt shows a $220 charge increase with no explanation. I called the location where I returned the car and asked why I was charged and they could offer no explanation. Again called customer service explained what happened, they couldnt give explanation for charge increase but have assured me that my account will be refunded the money in 3-5 days. After this experience Im sure that there will be another issue. All the Avis employees I dealt with were very nice but the obviously dont have the tools/resources to do their job. I am a preferred member but will look to utilize another rental company next time.
I rented my SUV in OKC and returned it to the Syracuse downtown location. It was so much more convenient than returning to the airport.The manager there helped check me in, and was extremely nice and helpful. The whole process was very quick and efficient. I had prepaid for the rental.No hidden charges or fees.I will rent from this location again, whenever I dont have to fly.
Inspect the vehicle thoroughly. There was a broken trim piece that was not noticed until the door was opened 1 week later. Avis claims that it was fine when it left but it was not. Now we are involved in a he/she said. Not to mention the service people at this location are not friendly. They were rude to my wife and treated her as if she was a liar. Maybe they are too busy for their own good. Either way, look all over the vehicle and renter beware.
The billing was incorrect. We were overcharged. We rented a Kia Soul but given a Forte. Would. NOT recommend AVIS to anyone.
Everything went smoothly. The car ran great and I was able to quickly get help from customer service when I didnt know how to use certain features.
I dont have enough credit on my credit card. If I can pay a portion of my rental by debit card, I will rent more days.
A+ for this location. For all the haters of this location and your negative attitude, it must be that you just are looking for a reason to complain!! Cheri and her staff bend over backwards to accommodate the customer. I have rented from Cheri for years and all the rentals are top notch and clean. They go above and beyond. All the people that have complaints probably have NO credit and are just mad at life!!
My experience was very disturbing; because, I rented the car for less than 3 hours, and they still have not released the $200+ dollars that they charged my card. Furthermore, they charged me $53.53 for the three hours after stating that it would be $37.54 for one day.Next I call to speak to someone; and, immediately, without saying hello, I am put on hold for at least 5 minutes before I hang up and post this note.
I can’t say enough good things about our experience at this Avis! Sherrie went way out of her way to help us in a difficult situation. Plus she gave us a ride to a restaurant nearby to shelter us from an upcoming storm. She was wonderful!!!
This was my first time renting a car. They were helpful and the car they gave me was super nice (it makes me want to get one lol)

The Management Team at the Dewitt, NY AVIS Location consistently goes out of there way to ensure that Im completely satisfied. I have also shared this recognition feedback to the Corporation that I work for and thats one of the specific reasons that AVIS continues to be a Preferred Supplier that were to rent from.
No after hours drop off. I had to cancel my reservation when I learned thus upon arrival, thankfully a short walk to the green place was an option.

2022-06-13I am pretty much in rental vehicles 300 + days a year. This Avis location is by far the best I’ve ever dealt with. The people are super friendly and helpful. Every car I’ve ever rented from them has been clean and ready to go when I get there. There are a couple Avis locations that are closer to me but I always go here because I know my rental will be problem free.

2022-05-28I had a great deal by paying in-front. Additional, avis provides amazon gift cards if you log in or enable your amazon account. The car I received was a one year car with low mileage.

2022-07-07Horrible service . I made a reservation the day before through my company ! I was unable to pick up the car that day and made a new reservation the next day . After confirming the reservation and the type of car I took and Uber to the Avis site on Genesee st , I got there and the agent said that reservation was yesterday. I explained that I just called a hour ago and made a new reservation. She said she “ could not help me from behind the desk “ . I tried calling reservations and was put on hold for for 20 minutes , I gave up and Ubered home because my phone battery was low . 80 dollars of uber and no car . Once I got home I was able to speak to an Avis rep and she informed me that all the Avis rep at genesee st location needed to call and they could have have resolved the situation. I switched to a different Avis location to pick up a car .. I did get a call from the useless rep a genesee st location saying she got my reservation after I made ANOTHER at the Cicero location . I told her I went to another location … I did get a car , smells like smoke( horrible ) 5 hours to rent a car from Avis when enterprise is a mile up the … 120 dollars in Uber charges to get a car that … horrible service smells ..horrible service

2021-09-17I Used the mobile app and renting a car was an easy process; I was in a pinch due to my jeep breaking down and needed a car for work . The staff at Avis on West Genessee street, Syracuse NY were awesome! Very friendly & helpful and provided me with a better car than I expected. I ended up returning the car a day earlier than planned and was actually met in the parking lot by a staff member walking through and all I had to do was hand her the keys. Check out was just as easy. I would highly recommend Avis and this location.

2021-12-08The car was previously smoked in and you could tell on the second day when the smell broke through the chemical scent coverup. Upon picking up the vehicle the employee was the least personable and couldnt have been bothered. Upon dropping off the car at the airport, I received my e-receipt to see a gas charge of 15.99 even though the car was returned full. was overcharged for a gas fee when I returned my vehicle on full.

2022-01-28Customer service was horrible!! Employee and manager had poor attitudes. The van was not in good shape and was not properly cleaned, tires were worn out and not good for snow. I will never rent another vehicle form this location. I felt very uncomfortable with the service., also I wouldn’t recommend!!

2021-09-13I was going to yorkville for rentals and the staff there is rude and tried to make me pay for something on the car that I didnt do after being with them for 13 yrs. So I figured I would give syr a chance and they were very plant to deal with. I got there and everything was ready so there was no wait. Its worth the travel up there for me
