Azteca Mexican Grill in other cities:
This is one of our favorite local restaurants. Our favorite appetizer is the queso fundido. It has a little heat and is delicious with chips. For an entree, try the carnitas plate. The pork is slow-cooked to render the fat and then beautifully seasoned. The dish comes with a generous portion of pork, three tortillas, pico de gallo, one jalapeno, rice, and refried beans. A feast for a very reasonable price. As shown by the photo attached, I request shredded lettuce, sour cream, and an extra jalapeno in place of the rice and beans. The service is friendly and efficient even when theyre busy. UPDATE: They are currently closed on Sundays.
If I could give this restaurant a 10 out of 5 I would. Prices are extremely reasonable and the food is amazing even on the 3rd visit. The chimichangas and fajitas as so delicious then there is the dessert OMG I have had 3 of their desserts and every one was outstanding. My personal favorite is the Churros, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, the churros are served hot with ice cream and strawberry sauce 🔥(the combination of crunchy and soft then hot and cold dessert is breathtaking)
Delicious Mexican food! They have the best chimchongas in the area. The consistency of their kitchen is something to be applauded. The prices are fair and the service is great. Of youre in the mood for Mexican food youll be hard pressed to find a better restaurant in the area.
Azteca was amazing and delicious! I went for my first time for a Bachelorette party and though they dont take reservations, we were able to get space for our large group and the Servers were awesome at keeping up with all 14 of us, everyone had a great time :) All the food was delicious, the Mango frozen Margaritas were on point and all of the staff was friendly and helpful. Will surely return!
All the waiters wear really tight shirts, which really shows off their muscles when theyre showing off carrying 20 plates of food out of the kitchen. One of the waiters keeps saying I gotta go put some fires out in the kitchen which is a little weird. Do they have alot of fires back there or something? Foods good though but Im bad at math. 12 out of 10 recommend.
Food was bland compared to other restaurants (carnitas tacos and chimichanga). Stay away from the appetizer sampler plate -- simple out of the box chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks, and those had been toasted a little much. Good horchata and service, though. Too bad food wasnt up to snuff.
We went Friday for dinner. Food was really good and my margarita was perfect. Our server was Jen, she made the experience awesome! She was genuinely friendly and had great timing. We didnt need to ask for anything. Thank you for a great Friday night out. We will be back.
My family and I have been coming to Azteca for many since it opened. We have always enjoyed the fast friendly service and delicious meals. They have great prices and many options. My personal favorites are the Pina Fajita, Chipotle Chicken, Pollo Loco Special, and the Burritos. Their Queso Fundido is a great appetizer. You will not be disappointed!
Not ranting here, just stating the facts. Restaurant advertises (on Google) that it’s staff wears masks, however that is not true, at least not during my visit on 11/27/21 at 3 pm. The California burrito tasted like the chicken was pre-cooked a long time ago and then reheated before it was served. It was very hard and dry and colder than the rest of the food. Bar tender waiting the table took my order. Someone else brought the food out. No one ever returned to check on me. Maybe it was just a bad day for the restaurant, but that was my honest experience.
Amazing food, amazing!! I had a pineapple chicken dish that may sound odd, but was delicious! The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars was because it was so loud we couldnt carry on a conversation.. Couldnt hear anyone in our party.. Not to worry though, we were too busy eating! Service was very attentive, food amazing and the atmosphere is a giant party!
We love going to this restaurant every time we are in the Syracuse vicinity. As a matter of fact, we stopped there on our way back home from NYC to Rochester because we love it so much. I am not a fan of Mexican food, but this place has definitely made me a fan. The food is delicious, the service is friendly and the drinks are huge, yet inexpensive. Check them out, you wont regret it.
First time eating here. Stopped in for lunch with my brother and by his suggestion. Service was quick and courteous. Ordered the Pollo chicken which was all fresh made. Table was served tortillas and a fresh homemade salsa. Food was excellent, and plentiful. Took some home.
Not a long wait to sit on a Friday. Place is short staffed like everywhere else, but they are up front about it. Service good, 20 min for kitchen, not bad. Food excellent. Even the salsa with the table was wonderful. We got Las Paisas and Enchiladas Ranchero. Our favorite place.
Great food... love the steak tacos.Very busy Fridays and Saturdays. I really like the tacos Carne asada with green sauce.Update 6/7/22:Only 3 stars this time. I went with my wife. I ordered tacos Carne asada. It was busy so it took sometime to get our meals. That was not the issue, the issue was that only part of my order came with the green sauces and the Pico missing. The issue was it took them another 20 minutes to bring out those items, even with us asking about the status.Obviously, I was unable to make the tacos due to the missing items, so I sat waiting while my wife ate and I left with having to take home a meal that I should have been able to eat as my wife ate her dinner. The excuse that they were busy did not hold water as it should have been only seconds to fill the saucers and we should have had priority as our dinner was given to us.
First time there was tonight. Ordered 3 dinners picked them up and once I get home Im missing my tortillas that is suppose to come with 2 of my meals. Called the store and spoke with the owner personally his name is SAL I explained what was missing and that this was my first time ordering there. He asked did I want to come back, I said no I live a little ways away. Then he said well I can let the guys know in the back to pay more attention, and then proceeds to tell me well the tortillas are only 50 cents. Mind you I spent $52 and tipped my server who got my order together. Lets just say I returned my entire meal and would NEVER be back!!!!
We had a group of 11 ladies meet up here for dinner to catch up. I had called a week prior and asked about group seating, they told me it was no problem and recommended someone check in early so they can get a table for us since they don’t take reservations. We waited over 30min for seating and were very disappointed. They had split our group into three tables that weren’t even all next to each other. We asked about a table next to one of them and they told us they weren’t seating anyone there. Someone was sat there immediately after our party. They also only had nine seats prepared, we explained we had 11 and the male server asked if we had told the host that, we said yes and made a loud comment that “we just weren’t being truthful.” This same waiter continued to give our party dirty looks the entire time we ate to the point that we wanted to ask his name but didn’t bother. We honestly should’ve left at that point but we decided to make the best of it.The food was great but it then took at least 30 minutes for them to figure out who had ordered what despite that we had asked for separate checks at the beginning. Some of us ultimately just Venmo’d each other because we were eager to go outside so we could all talk since we weren’t able to at dinner. It doesn’t seem like Azteca Camillus is made to accommodate groups, and we can’t blame the pandemic because we have since visited other restaurants in the area that have been able to without issue.
The food is really delicious. They have one of the best guacamole in the area . The place was surprisingly crowded at 1 pm on the week day. I guess its a good sign. The only one thing which made me disappointed is that they do not honour the client’s wishes. I ordered tacos and asked the waitress to put 3 tacos instead of two. I was willing to pay extra, of course. She being nuts and told me that they serve two and she can not add the third one even for the extra pay. Very weird service. Another thing they need to work on their interior. It looks old and not welcoming. Also, put some heat in the bathroom, it’s winter time!
We have been going here for a while and have always enjoyed the food. The service was also very good, especially one waiter who we always seemed to get. This changed recently. We were a party of 5. There were no other people waiting when I put our name in. 30 minutes into the wait, the front door person tried to squeeze us into a 4 person booth. It was clear he did not know what he was doing as he had two people siting at a table for 6. We declined the 4 person booth and continued to wait another 20 minutes. During our wait, every other group was seated, including another party of 5. The front door person claimed they were here before us. The manager apologized and we were eventually seated. The waiter we always get came to our table and said he would take our drink orders while the other waiter caught up. He was very grumpy. He basically slammed our drinks onto the table, failed to acknowledge our thank you, and tossed the straws on the table as an afterthought. We decided to leave at that point.I will not be visiting again. I am not sure what the waiters problem was, but he should not be treating customers the way he treated us. Also, management should consider not hiring an incompetent to manage seating.
Been to many, many Mexican restaurants, there have been no winners compared to real Mexican food. Im disappointed, but will say, service was great, portions were great, but its not real full flavor like Mexico. I had the chorizo with papas(not authentic), but they were delicious, thats a win.... Need more spices.
The service was terrible. Waited a good 10 minutes before our waiter acknowledged us. He wasnt friendly. Appeared to be annoyed we were here to eat. Ordered right away, so we didnt linger to long in the Restaurant. Waited over 40 minutes without the waiter even checking in on us. Drinks were empty for quite a while. Poor service leaves a bad taste in your mouth that even good food cant erase. The foods not worth the poor service
My coworker constantly kept telling me to give these guys a try, I didnt feel it appropriate for my first time to be during a pandemic, but oh my goodness am I glad I did!! The service was perfect, the food even better, and the drinks! Oh my. This will be my new date night spot for a LONG time to come!
I was so excited to find good Mexican food and the menu looked promising. They even have little icons letting you know which dishes are gluten free and the waiter was very knowledgeable about what was and wasnt gluten free. But once the food came out, I was very disappointed. The rice was white rice made with chicken broth, my enchiladas had almost no sauce and the chicken inside was pretty dry is was difficult to eat at times. The prices arent bad so I guess to get what you pay for. They do have $3.50 margaritas on Thursdays so Ill have to go back and see how good they are but from what I saw they are probably not very good.
Orded chicken quesadillas today and were there worst ive ever had. So dry and the chicken tasted horrible, greasy. Beans and salsa tasted like they were canned. Didnt even eat half of the food. Really wished I didnt pay for it. I have no idea why this place has great reviews. Inside decorum felt very low budget.
I eat here with my family quite often and it is usually pretty good. Last night my family went for my daughters birthday and it was terrible. We had the Worst server that I have ever had. The service was terrible. The girl was so rude. All of our dinners were mediocre at best. This restaurant has really gone down hill. I am going to find a new Mexican restaurant to go to.
Our family of 5 (three kids under 12) had an awesome meal at a pretty reasonable price. The waiter we had was extremely charismatic and great with the kids. The fajitas are excellent and I would highly recommend them. Portions all around could be a little bigger, buy we didnt feel like we were underportioned either. All around, a great experience.
This used to be one of our favorite restaurants, but all of that has changed drastically. The wait should have been the worst part of our trip, but sadly that was the best. The portion size and quality of the food coming out to the tables has dropped drastically, while the cost has become increasingly more. This all being said, that is something we understand and accept.Being in the service industry myself, for over 10 years and working at a restaurant that does 30 grand in sales on any given Saturday, I am more than understanding of situations, bad days humans have, etc.But this seemed to be much more than that. Our waiter exuded arrogance and had absolutely NO reason to as he was not good at his job, AT ALL! He was terrible. He seemed to be judging us from the moment we sat down. It took 5+ minutes for him to come greet us like how dare us sit in his section and want to be treated decently. Another 8 mins to take our drink order. He came back with the drinks 7 minutes after that. At which time he said he needed to go put out fires, a robotic line I heard him use at all 5 of his tables in his section, with no sincerity. He throws down our drinks uses his robotic line and runs off not even giving us the opportunity to put an appetizer in. He obviously judges his guests and treats them according to how he thinks they will tip. Knowing nothing about them he just goes off looks. He focuses on woman and kids like some weird predator. He has worked for your company for awhile now and obviously has some kind of pull/power. He was talking to guests like he was in full control. Using phrases like oh its not busy, this is a cake walk. whilst he was clearly struggling, and the guest even responded with a huge sarcastic oh yeahhh. This guy needs a huge humbling, Sit DOWN BE HUMBLE. He thinks because he is decently good looking and can carry 4 plates on one arm that he is an amazing server and people have to tip simply because they came out. A tip is based of my judgement of your hard work and performance, I dont owe you a tip off of your looks and ability to carry multiple plates nor did you deserve one.The only time he seemed to care is when I had my wallet out with cash, by which he made us feel VERY uncomfortable by hovering over us. This was so unprofessional and was the longest time he spent with us. It set me that much more off. He still received a 15 % tip. But we should have had our entire meal free and he should not be given big sections or any power nor responsibility. They will be lucky to receive our business again. I will talk to every one I can about this experience and the type of arrogant person you have working for you!!! In all of our travels, never have we received such terrible service. Beyond disappointed!
The queso fundido was really good!!!! I ordered the Fajita Azteca I think was the name chicken, shrimp, and steak all good but the shrimp was my favorite. He has the steak fajitas and this is now his favorite Mexican restaurant!!! Staff was friendly and prices were good.. we definitely will be back!!!
Went for a quick bite yesterday after not having been here for about a year. My entree was tasty, a shrimp quesadilla, but a little too salty. My spouse enjoyed his carnitas burrito. Im not a huge fan of their salsa...tastes too much like Italian tomato sauce. My other complaint was my skinny margarita, which was a bit flavorless. Wait staff attentive. Overall, Id rate the experience at 83/100.
It used to be really good years ago. The food was very disappointing this time. Ordered enchiladas and it was essentially boiled chicken in a tortilla and barely cheese that looked sprinkled on. You ask for it spicy and they just add grilled jalapenos for an extra cost. It hardly felt authentic. Again very disappointed. Service was good though.
Well, this place is lovely located. Staff very friendly and helpful. My issue that really bothers me is how fake is the food. All microwaves.Walmart around the corner sell real beans, real tortillas and real guacamole. Not authentic at all.Missing the point about real Mexicans food.My server was very nice and professional. I was eating at the same time I wrote this review. Food got really bad taste and not flavor at all.
Good prices for decent enough Mexican food. Wish they had draft beer most of all and also a dedicated bartender. Portions could be bigger, and the food is a little bland. The chips and salsa are decent and free the first round. Didnt have any complaints. Good for basic tacos and stuff. Its local.
Just stopped in for lunch. Im extremely pleased. I was welcomed and sat right away. Instantly got chips and salsa service was amazing. Ordered a chicken chimichanga and a tamale. They were great. Exactly what was expected and they came out nice and hot. My only criticism is that the salsa was thin and lackluster, I guess its just a personal thing. Also the place was immaculate and clean. Ill be coming again for dinner
Nice variety of standard Mexican fare. Quickly delivered and tasty. Not a fancy place by any means, but the steady flow of patrons allows that its well liked. Minus one star for serving cornflake coated Fried Ice Cream that didnt actually involve frying the ice cream.
Good Mexican food, I would not call it authentic by any means. The tacos are ground beef & chicken. However the food is good and they have good combo deals that let you try a little of everything. Love the drinks they have, especially the Margaritas. Compared to the Mexican restaurants available in the area I would say it is a better place to go but overall compared to the authentic Mexican cuisine I had it could be way better.
I was disappointed. This was my second time there. I ordered three Taco Bowls and got one.I did not realize it until I got home because I was in a hurry. When I opened the bag, there was only one ugly Taco bowl in it. The bowl was over baked. The filling was not put in there carefully.I should have taken a picture. It was messy, with very little sour cream, and it was all jumbled together like a stew. I wasnt going to go back so I picked at it and threw the rest away. What I ate was tasty, but the rest was unappetizing and the beef was like shoe leather. My first experience was such a good one that I was telling my friends and family to try it out. It was exceptional. However, the Taco Bowl I had this week was not worth $15.28. I wasnt going to say anything, but I was angry, and you needed to know. I am not looking for my money back, as I used my credit card. I am also not looking for an apology. I just want to know that the next time i order from you, I will have the same experience that I had, my very first time. I did the ratings for Azteca and they were all good. Everyone is entitled to one mistake.Respectfully, Mary C. George
1st timers the place was nice and clean. It was a very busy place. People where in and out pretty quick. The service was fast and friend. The food was good but the cheese dip was absolutely delicious!! We will definitely return for dinner again and definitely stop in for take out just for the cheese dip. 😋
This was my first visit to Azteca and it was all in all a great experience. I went with three coworkers for lunch right around 12pm on a Thursday. The restaurant was busy, but the service was quick and friendly. If you are in the area and enjoy Mexican food I would highly recommend this place. Do it, you wont be disappointed.
Our first time at Azteca - loved it! One of the best Mexican meals weve ever had. We had the chimichangas and burrito mexicano. Yum! Amazingly fresh tasting, authentic Mexican food, great flavors, good sized portions. Friendly service, very reasonable prices, great variety on menu. Well definitely be back - just love this place!
There arent many Mexican restaurants in Syracuse. So in comparison to everything else, this is a five star place. But due to living in Arizona, my expectations are much higher and the Mexican place in Clarence, NY beats them by a mile.I loved all the food. But the salsa reminded me of marinara sauce.
The place was clean and well decorated. The food was pretty good and the prices were reasonable. I have to admit, the chili rellenos were strange. Typically they are breaded and stuffed with cheese. The chili relleno I received was literally a green pepper laid flat and topped with cheese and a sauce. Weirdest chili relleno I’ve ever had. The server I had was inattentive. When I was ready to pay, I Waited at my table for 15 min before I had to get up and look for her.
I stopped ordering from Azteca because to go was never as good as when you order in. Well, I really wanted some Mexican food. The presentation was way better than normal. I was super excited to dive in lol I got the chimichonga meal with beans and rice. NO FLAVOR in any part of the meal. Chicken, rice and beans. The beans werent beans but refried slop. DRY chicken. Im so disappointed. $15 down the drain along with my food I cldnt eat. I dont leave reviews but Im so sick of restaurants around here charging an arm and a leg for such poor quality food. Sad because this used to be my favorite restaurant.
The food is AMAZING. I get something different every time I go and am never disappointed. The fajitas are great, Ive eaten the burritos and quesadillas. The queso fundido is so good. My wife gets a veggie fajita that is so good. Only reason Im not giving this 5 stars is because weve had slow service at times. Theres usually a line to get a table.
Not sure if this was an off night or what - 10/30. I hadnt been to Azteca in years due to moving away, but moved back recently and decided to stop in.The salsa had a (small) strip of plastic in it, the bottle of beer I ordered was skunky, and the rice was reminiscent of one of those 90 second microwaveable pouches that you get at the grocery store. The entrees were fine, but just fine. People seem to have lots of good experiences here, even recently, but mine was on the opposite end of the spectrum.
I got food poisoning. Along with 3 out of 5 friends that came along. I actually got sick right after I ate 3 bits. I told the server I had vomitted my food and I believe an ingredient on the food was bad. He continued to tell me he opened it himself and it was fresh. There should be nothing wrong with it. He also did not appoligize that I had a bad expirence. I have heard very good things about this place and I really wanted to give it a try, But that service was uncalled for and honestly Im scared to eat here again. I thought that maybe it was me at first because he had assured me that it was fresh. Until friends came home and informed me they are in fact sick also. Really disappointed.
The lunch menu is a great option here! I’m personally not a fan of many of the food options but I’d recommend the California Buritto. The real great plus is I think the food is cheap. If I go with my wife to chipotle we’d drop like $30 for lunch where at Atezca we’d get two good meals and free chips for about $15. I think the lunch menu ends at 3. Drinks are great as well!
Have been eating here since the restaurant opened. Suddenly their prices have doubled and I found the tacos to be completely dried out ..I had the El Pastor. I came in shortly after 3 and asked if I could do lunch instead of supper. The waiter said, No, Im the three oclock person. The bill came to 27.00 with tip for TACOS and a lava cake! REALLY???
The food is okay at best and extremely overpriced. The service, however, is HORRIBLE.Dont get me wrong, I like mexican food. I really, like mexican food. And Im not the type to give a really bad review based off one experience; but this has happened to me (or Ive witnessed it) on THREE occasions.I went there a little while ago, and had to wait 5 or 6 minutes before my waiter came by to get drink orders and drop off chips and salsa. Thats alright. I order a tea, with sugar please. My sister and her fiance order their drinks. We also order cheese dip and ask for a few minutes in order to decide our meals.Well she comes by 5 or 6 minutes later with our drinks. Okay, so drinks are a little slow. At least Ive got some chips and salsa right? Well, our cheese dip isnt here. Hmm. Well, 10 minutes later I get my cheese dip, yet we dont get our drinks or chips refilled (they were eaten in the span of the past 15 minutes). We finally get our cheese dip 10 minutes later with the rest of our food. Ok. cool. At least we got it. We had a couple kids with us and they were being unruly and what not and tossed some silverware down. Well, we finally get a food a few minutes later and then have to wait MORE for our silverware. We finally get a refill and wait a minute or two more for our silverware so we can actually eat.I got some enchiladas. The four enchilada special. Two of them were pretty good, but the chicken one was very dry, and the bean one was extremely small. Felt like they didnt have all the beans they needed and just put 40% of what they should and wrapped it up tighter, sticking it at the bottom to kind of hide it.Ultimately due to the fact that we spend almost 40 minutes waiting for very simple things my sister (after seeing the bill and the service) goes up to complain. Now, Im not a huge fan of complaining at restaurants. Ive worked my fair share of them and it was painfully obvious our waiter was new at her job. But this isnt the only time Ive experienced this. I went there a month earlier and had a similar wait. I didnt have to pay so I didnt see the HORRENDOUS prices. We had 3 entrees. Mine was 9.50 as per the menu, my sisters was 6.50, and her fiance was 9.00.Now, Im no mathematician, but those three entrees should equal about $25.50, not including drinks. My sister got cheese dip and ordered a margarita, which said 2.50 (and cheese dip was 2.60 I think) thats like, an extra 5 bucks.Thats a total of $30, again, not including drinks. Drinks in most places from my experience range from $1 to $2.99, so $1.99 isnt too bad of an idea to expect from. Thats about $6 give or take. So $36 total. Kinda pricy, but we have three people and an appetizer. So thats fair.My sister told me that the bill came up to a total of $47.00. For 3 people. This should be utterly impossible. She runs up to the register to complain. So, the prices on the menu are incorrect, and drinks only have one refill free (We only had the one but apparently we were charged for several) - even after making the drinks and an entire entree free, they charged us $35 dollars.I have never paid so much money, and been shown so little consideration. I later find out that my sister and her fiance went to the restaurant a couple times before and have ALWAYS had problems with waiters ignoring them or otherwise delaying. One time, they had to wait an hour for their food.So basically, bad service, extremely over priced. Dont go here.Oh, and their salsa SUCKS.
I dont know how it is to dine in so Ill relay my experience for ToGoFirst impressions of the facility:-The door handle is too low, & Im short! It Should also be easier to grasp, please change the hardware.-Also it smells like an elderly homeThe guy who waited on us was excellent. The food was outstanding. I got the steak, shrimp, chicken fajita with extra flag (salad with guacamole, rice, beans). It was fantastic, & Im extremely picky on guac!
By far, the BEST Mexican Restaurant in the Syracuse area, its not a chain, maybe that is what people have come to expect, (sort of the familiarity people have with a machine whipped instant cappucino sugary hot mess found at a gas station versus an authentic cappucino )The staff is professional and efficient. We have eaten there many times in the past few years and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend you try it out, and form your own opinion and then post your review.
I do not understand the bad reviews on this page at all! The first time we came to the restaurant in the summer of 2012, the owner greeted us warmly and chatted while our food was prepared for take out-- three young fidgety kids made me not want to risk being seated for lunch. The food was so good, I told my husband we all had to go back soon. The owner had been so gracious and recognized us when we returned. The sever was very prompt and again our food was delicious. We went back at least one other time as a family and then invited friends to meet us there at the end of August. Our favorites include the shrimp super quesadilla platter and the pollo loco platter. I thought the frozen margaritas have been on the strong side there, so each time I limited myself to one, not two! I only wish there was a baby changing table in the mens room as well so my husband can take a turn, lol.
***Food is good***However, the host looks at my girlfriend like hes never seen a woman before. Also, I have been served by the same disrespectful waiter twice. He greets the table hey kiddos and asks do you know what you want buddy boy. He is so wired up and obnoxious that it reminds me of the time I was attacked by a crackhead in Juarez, Mexico.Besides that the place was cool.
My girlfriend and i went to Azteca for lunch because we had heard good food. Upon arrival, the waiter disrespectfully called us HEY KIDS. This dis-courteousness was provided throughout our total dining experience. The waiter continued to show his limited vocabulary and disrespectful tone by responding, SURE THING SWEETHEART and winking at us when we asked for the check. Honestly felt like the jersey shore at a Mexican restaurant. In short, we both felt very uncomfortable and couldnt leave fast enough. i couldnt recommend to any person looking for a good dining experience.
This is my first visit to this location. I have been to the location in Oswego several times. The food here was good, in fact I ordered the same thing I usually order in Oswego, which is fajitas. While my first visit to this location was a good experience, I have to be honest and say yes the food is good here, but the friendliness of the staff is more on a professional level than a personal level. I will put it to you this way, my first visit ever at the Oswego location, I felt like I have been going there for years, the food was absolutely amazing, the friendliness, politeness and all around General Aura of the staff was beyond expected, it was an awesome experience to say the least. Im not saying my experience at this current location was bad because it wasnt, the food was good and the staff did their job I noticed, but if you want an all-around amazing experience, I would suggest the Oswego location and again Im not saying anything bad about this location at all. I just had an all-around better experience in Oswego. The staff there went above and beyond my expectations and obviously made it the extra effort to make their customers feel at home. Both locations are family-owned you can certainly tell that by the authenticity of the food and that is greatly appreciated, I tend to try and stay away from franchise locations because those types of locations are owned by different people and not very consistent. Hope this helps anybody who had any questions. Thank you Azteca Mexican Grill (Both Locations) your food is certainly unquestionable and authentic! Sincerely, Chris Rowland
Loved the margaritas especially the Aztecarita and the food was very good. I got the dinner for two to see how large it actually was and enjoyed to try as much of the entrees in one dish. All were very good and would recommend this to anyone who likes authentic mexican food.
They originally opened up in Oswego when I was attending college there. I was pleased to hear they had opened another one in the Syracuse area a few year back. The food is just as good as I remember it. Authentic Mexican food. Huge portions that deliver on flavor and cost next to nothing. The margaritas, whether frozen or on the rocks, are great. They make some other speciality drinks that are worth going just for the drinks. Great place to eat and drink.
Delicious, authentic mexican food! Do yourself a favor and try this place out! you will NOT be disappointed! Ive had the taco salad, beef and chicken, both delicious. The fajitas Azteca are out of this world! Theres enough to feed two or take home leftovers! I cant say enough about this restaurant! My mouth is watering while typing! Just go!
Very disappointed. Weve been here quite a few times, and its always hit or miss on service and food. This last time though, my daughter ordered a Pina Colada. It was clear from the taste of it that they gave her a non-alcoholic version. When she questioned this, the waitress immediately told her she saw the bartender put in two shots, and she walked away. Within seconds, she could be overheard talking with other servers, making fun of us. It was embarassing and unprofessional. Oh, and the bill said it was the alcoholic version! I think this was our last visit.
I just ate there about 4 hours ago, i have cold chills and feel sick. I was celebrating my landing a new job now i have to force myself to orientation in the morning with what is quite possibly food poisoning. Food tastes good and upon hitting my bloodstream i now know it was rancid. Please order alcohol like the local guide did. It will kill whatever bacteria is in the food as you eat. Im terrified to know what kind of person the manager is. Either new cooks because they cant keep anyone, or cooks who dont care. And that boils down to management. They need to hit their mark with sales. But that doesnt mean cook off the spoiled parts that means tell corporate the product of the truck was spoiled. I am physically sick I ate nothing else today. Please order alcohol with your food. And if possible eat at home. You know how you like it cooked and it will come out how you make it come out. Save yourself physical harm.
Azteca never dissapoints as long as we have a male server. 1 time my kids and I walked out because a blonde waitress was really mean about us needing to be Gluten Free. Its was 8 months before we went back a couple days ago with family in town to celebrate my sons 11th bday. Jaron (server) was Awesome! Thanks Jaron for making a pleasent and fun experience. If we come back soon we will request you. The food was very good. My dad said the nachos were the best he has ever had!!
This place is the worst mexican food Ive ever had. I would not even feed this to my dog. I grew up in Texas and I know what Mexican food tastes like. First I had the chips and salsa and guacamole. I always said you can tell how the foods going to be by there salsa. This salsa tasted like spaghetti sauce. I do have to say the guacamole was the best thing I had because it was flavorless. Next I had the shrimp diablo. It was over cooked shrimp with that same salsa with a little spice added. I also got a.beef enchilada as a side. All I have to say is that dog food tasted better than the beef in there. On that note I think I need to use the restroom now.
I use to go to the one is Oswego as often as i could afford it. Took my mom to the one is Oswego and i noticed there was a branch in Camillus when searching for places. She has a lot of dietary restrictions being a diabetic, and aztecas is one of the few restaurants she can eat at.Family owned, excellent quality food and presentation, and great customer service. Menu prices are reasonable. Frozen Margaritas and Pina Colodas are my personal fav. One of my top fav places in NY state. Highly recommend!
OK this is not Mexico but I left disappointed. This is a well appointed establishment with a friendly staff. I was part of a party of three. It took an hour to get the food for my two friends and then another 20 minutes for my meal. I ordered one beef enchilada, a beef burrito, and a crunchy chicken taco. What I got was a soggy chicken taco and two chicken enchiladas complete with bones! I had also ordered a rum and coke and would be darned if there was more rum in a holiday fruit cake. They apologized profusely and offered to make it right free of charge but I declined because we didnt want to wait another 30 minutes or so. Out of desperation I ordered a small container of pico de gallo to go.After two inquires by my guests and another 20 minutes the waiter appeared with a condiment sized container with less than a tablespoon of some concoction proudly announcing this is on the house. My friends meals looked and tasted great and the sweet potato fries are to die for. So eat the sweet potato fries and just dont be me; I think youll do OK.
We are new to this area from S. California and most recently from Oklahoma city. This restaurant came highly recommended by several people including the local high school Spanish teacher (who claims to have been to South America several times and believes this restaurant to be comparable), Im very sad to say that the so-called Mexican food served here is a joke. It was an absolute travesty and the owners should be ashamed to call this Mexican food. After about a 20 min wait we were seated and so began the worst Mexican food experience my family and I have ever had.Lets start with what was referred to as salsa which is really just some tomato sauce thrown in a bowl with a few spices added, where is the cilantro, onion, jalapeno, and tomato chunks? Where is ANYTHING that could possibly add some flavor!!?? And the tortillas chips that were obviously pre-packaged, but had been refried in an attempt to pass them off as fresh made. Gross. Each member of my family ordered something different and each menu item sucked equally. Our food arrived appearing to be almost identical...even the server had a hard time differentiating between the food. This may have been because everything (whether it was burritos, enchiladas or tacos) was covered in a tomato sauce (I believe it was their attempt at a ranchero sauce) then shredded lettuce and a sliced (unripe) tomato. And please dont expect beans and rice to be served with your meal, cause there are no sides! Just your tomato sauce and salad that covered your food.I dont even care about the semi-poor service, because the food was just shameful.Without a doubt, this restaurant was the worst experience with Mexican food Ive ever had. And for it to come so highly recommended, Im fearful to try any other restaurant that is locally recommended to us.
Idiotic menu for 1 reason-the rice says in the vegetarian section its seasoned with chicken bouillon. Guess what-that isnt vegetarian! Its so hard to boil rice with water? Really?! Its not that much variety to eat a plate of beans with burritos/tacos/etc. honestly its hot food and good but apparently the owner or cooks (not chefs, theyre not on that level) do not understand vegetarian. Simple.
I enjoyed it very much the waitress was very friendly the food was fantastic first time there but not the last stuffed chicken with ham and asiago cheese with chipotle cream sauce steamed broccoli and rice and flan for dessert my taste buds were singing the food was that good I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family
Not a first good impression, drove there last night to try for the first time. Arrived at 7:15 (business hours say until 8) called in to place order several times with a busy line and when I finally got through the guy said they took their last order for the night! Not sure if id even waste my time going there again now.

2021-12-19Fast and friendly service. Really good food. Reasonably clean (including the restrooms). Well worth the prices. The meal wasnt crazy salty. Ive been to a lot of Mexican restaurants and most of the time the food is way too salty. Dont get me wrong - its still not for someone watching salt intake closely but its not over the top. The Margaritas are great! It didnt taste watered down and had good ingredients. That, however, had a lot of salt...exactly as it should :)

2022-05-04Great spot. Ordered the Fajitas Aztecas and the shrimp ceviche for takeout. Was ready in 15 minutes. Excellent portion size and quality;, both were delicious. Generous portion of corn tortilla chips also. Only suggestion would be to add an extra tortilla or two for the fajitas as 3 were provided and had some extra leftover, made a nice little bowl with the extra guac and sour cream. Must try!

2022-06-26Brie(waitstaff and bartender) and Josh (bartender) are excellent at their jobs, and all of the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. There is something to be said for a restaurant that can keep staff for multiple years in a high rate of turnover industry. Wait time is minimal for food, though it can get packed you may wait a bit for a table. Honestly the only reason this is a 4 star review as opposed to 5 is that due to the speed of the restaurant if you have a food allergy, you need to be hyper-vigilant that your meal is correct - there were flour tortillas given to a gluten free order, and a piece of chicken was on a vegetarian plate. The mistakes were immediately rectified.

2021-07-07Good selection of Mexican dishes. Servers are friendly and attentive. When busy it can take a little bit to get your food. While your wait for your dinner you can start with the free chips and salsa. Place is loud when busy.

2022-03-19Average mexican food joint. Wait times are long and service is average. I ordered chimichangas with beef and got tortilla filled with cartilage and fatty beef, was not able to chew it. Sent food back and wont be returning. Liverpool has a better joint.

2022-04-28Ive been going here for years, the food is ALWAYS amazing. The queso fundido appetizer is stellar on its own but I also enjoy it smothering my Burrito Mexicano (no guac). Todays lunch literally made my day.
