Cocktails and tapas with beautiful city views. Get there when it opens on a nice day or you’ll have to wait in line on the sidewalk. Small rooftop patio has two sides but not nearly big enough to accommodate the crowd on a summer day. Seating is limited and whatever seating is available seems to be frequently “reserved” in advance for larger groups.
Interesting stop for a rooftop. Didn’t think that west village had many rooftop options. Overall great ambiance; the place was buzzing, a lot of young people were having fun and the view of Jersey was decent. Maybe the service could have been better and a bit on the pricey side
Visited this place this past weekend while vacationing in NYC. I’m from Miami so I’m used to overpriced expensive drinks. The prices here for drinks are some of the most expensive I’ve seen ever. Views are awesome. The vibe is nice and chic. But remember drinks and service super expensive.
Im a big fan of the variety of views at this rooftop bar. The upper patio which is pretty spacious has a beautiful view of lower Manhattan. The indoor level below has a lot of cozy, upscale furniture with a nice view of FiDi and jersey city- def recommend going during sunset hours. The drinks were great and came out way faster than I expected. Kinda annoyed that they ran out of all the drafts, but the servers and bartenders were super friendly. Will definitely be a regular here.
Lovely views, but that’s about it. They use single-use plastic disposables for basically everything: water, drinks, utensils, etc., so it’s super wasteful. Tacos are two for $14 and are the worst tacos I can remember eating (tried the tuna and steak - they only have 4 kinds). Guacamole needed way more lime juice. Go for the views, take a quick picture, but then definitely eat elsewhere - you’re in NYC, don’t waste time on mediocre food!
Cocktails are some of the most expensive Ive seen in the city, but the view and space are worth it! Go to the rooftop level on the elevator and then take the side stairwell to the outdoor rooftop for Azul. First come, first serve for seating, so get there early (they open at 5pm on weekdays) and grab some space.
We went for my friend’s bday, she did a reservation for 10 people but the security guy didn’t left the half of us to go up the rooftop “cause they had a private party” but they never said that before we make a reservation so, they were treated to us very rude and they practically ran us out of the place. Horrible staff and very rude. I never gonna back.
So on June 5th my friends and I (we were in total a group of 12) went to the Azul to celebrate my birthday. Upon our arrival I encounter with the bouncer, who I explained that 2 or my friends weren’t here yet but they will come eventually. He proceeded to tell me for 10+ groups I had to make a reservation which I tried 3 weeks in advance but the only thing I received was an email so I proceed to call them and when I spoke to one of the employees they said it was first come, first served I asked him 3 times just in case and every time he said groups of 10+ are allowed as first come and first served that it would be okay. The bouncer told us everyone must be here to be seated and to wait outside so we did. At some point while we were waiting he comes screaming Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey Quiet Quiet Quieeeeet to mind you we weren’t screaming we were just waiting outside we let that slide right. Next thing you know he’s checking our ID’s and i try to explaining to him that 2 of our friends are not here yet so how can they come up. Next thing you know he’s screaming at me saying I don’t have a table for 12 people that for 10+ groups a reservation should’ve been made and because he was screaming at me I raised my voice too and told him I have proof of the emails I sent and the call I made. At the end he said to us Just leave while screaming and he continue to talk while we were exiting the building. I’ve never encounter such an unorganized system where to make a reservation you gotta send an email and they do not get back to you and when you call they tell you something different?? I get they have the right to not want us to sit down but the least the bouncer could’ve done is be nice and offer a solution instead of disrespecting me and my friends. If you are planning to go with a big group make sure that whoever you speak to you get a name and their position because that’s the only way you could complain if something like this happens. Worst costumer service I have experience.
We had originally asked for a table for 7. We didnt get the table we requested and we got a smaller table. We were not comfortable as we were sitting on top of each other. We requested another table which apparently was not available. But the manager hooked us up. She stepped up to the plate and made our experience memorable by moving us to the original table we requested! Thank you!
Worst experience of my life! DISASTER! We waited for 40 min outside the hotel and then they let us in. However, when we went upstairs the manager said that there was a mistake and that he didn’t have a table for two ready for us. He asked us to wait 30 more min to be seated so we went down again. BS! We ended up wasting our time. We waited for another 50 minutes and then he asked us to leave because they didn’t have availability. Why didn’t he said so at the beginning?!?!? So disrespectful! He lied and didn’t even apologize! So rude! Avoid this place!
On Friday, September 18th around 10PM a friend and I arrived at the door and were informed that the rooftop was full. There was no line and we asked how long the wait would be for 2 people. The security officer said he was not sure, we asked if we could find out how long the wait would be, he did not follow up. This was annoying and displayed poor customer service but we heard great things about the rooftop and decided to wait. While waiting I asked to use the bathroom, the security guard stated there was no bathroom. I understand that the lobby is under construction but your rooftop has bathrooms and he could have easily directed us to the bathroom.I went on to ask your front desk staff on duty (a white gentleman) we explained we are waiting for a table upstairs and would like to use the bathroom. He was rude and unpleasant and seemed as if we were a burden to him and he instructed us to go use the bathroom across the street. Please note I have worked in the hospitality industry for over 10 years and I have never been treated in this manner. You would think especially in this climate that your staff would make a conscious effort to make sure they are accommodating to patrons of color. There is absolutely no excuse (covid, wait time for table etc) for the way that we were treated, and we know for a fact that if it were a white couple they would have been escorted to the bathroom. I am so disappointed that in 2020 in a progressive city such as NYC that people of color can be discriminated against. After speaking with your front desk agent for a few minutes security finally escorted us to use the bathroom, which is what should have happened in the first place.
The view is incredible, but at the time of our visit they had a gross smell from a bathroom at the rooftop so it was hard to enjoy the evening. After waiting for a waitress for 10 mins we went to order drinks at the bar. At the end of the night the bartender refused with helping out to charge the phone even though he did it for another person at the roof. Getting people drunk is fine but charging the phone in emergency, so the customer could get the uber, is not fine and allowing it only for specials guests is not appropriate approach. At the end when security or manager was asking customers to leave he had a beer in his hand. Staff is not professional and only because of that I won’t recommend that place to anyone.
Great views, however, some of the views no longer exist because of adjacent construction. Also, all the cups were chipped at the rim due to being scooped into the ice wells instead of using a separate scooper. And where do those chipped pieces go? Cocktails were made well otherwise.
I visited this wacky venue on Friday only to be faced with one of the most rude and nasty bouncers. He asked me for id and while i did hear him the first time, for him to NASTILY put me on display while others were around and say maam i did ask you for id. I responded to this dude i am getting it. All the while he was mouthing i dont understand why people dont come out with id. I would not recommend anyone going to this bar if they have to encounter this short, rude, nasty bouncer. First impressions always pays off. Hell he have gotten a tip for holding the elevator. If i am right his name is Derrek. That is what they told me when i got upstairs. What an a-hole. Then the bar is so small and the venue is not to brag about. The drinks are pricey and guess and you cant wear shorts. Hell its summer! But honestly speaking, this bar is not one of my favorites afterwork dig anymore. Maybe your bouncer is to dam old to be dealing with millennial.
If you do not have a reservation, do not go, it is very poorly organized and the building guard is very rude.. They should change for reservation only, its not true first come first served, thats playing with peoples time. We should learn to be more kind to each other .
Bouncer here made a scene because my wife had her leg resting on a table when we sat. Rather then ask politely to stop he was abrasive and rude, I thought it was a joke at first. Then he abruptly threw us out!!! The place wasn’t even busy on a Friday night. This was a shocking uncalled for experience.
Any POC beware! Manager was very adversarial with one of my friends of color and called security on them. Security was literally confused when they arrived and no one was exhibiting erratic behavior. Was sad to see behavior exhibited towards non white/non-white LATINX customers
Incredible place with beautiful 360 ° views of Manhatham Island. Excellent service. Arrive just before sunset, and enjoy it disappearing from among the buildings. The place is cool and has a revolutionary look (it even has the che guevara face painted on the wall). But just look at it.

2022-01-07Went here after brunch for drinks. Beautiful city views and indoor decor. Prepare for pricey drinks, but not going to lie they were very tasty. Views, unique drink menu, and tastey cocktails are enough to give this venue 5 stairs. Plus you get great Manhattan views without crazy traffic. Artwork was beautiful as well. Very chic place

2021-10-04Two stars because our server barb was fantastic. Even though we didn’t see her for 30 minutes at a time she was still friendly and honest. Don’t go here for the food. It’s overpriced and minimal and not worth it at all. Drinks are ok. Everything is in plastic and they still think they can charge almost $20 for a little plastic cup. The view is ok… but the rooftop isn’t that big. The bouncer is incredibly rude. I don’t get where people get off treating customers like that. Plenty of other rooftops that are better. Won’t be going back

2021-09-27I came here with some friends on the 4th of July hoping to see some fireworks from the rooftop and we had a FANTASTIC night. We didnt have a reservation or a table but ended up finding a seat and making friends with a few people which led us to one of the couch booths. The bartender and waitstaff were SUPER friendly, the drinks were AMAZING, and the small bites were DELICIOUS. I forget what the drink was called, but the tequila drink with cucumber and mint - was SO good. We went through a couple pitchers (yikes). The hummus and the fries were my top picks from the small bites menu. The seasoning on the fries is to die for and the crispy pita served with the hummus was scrumptious. & I cant forget about the views - as its a rooftop this was one of the biggest selling points. We made some unforgettable memories up on this rooftop and I would highly recommend you check it out!

2022-05-31Service was lousy, no one came to my couch for 15 minutes when I arrived, went to get the server, git the chicken tacos, they were mediocre and not hot. Nice music but the rest of my experience was sub-par. Disappointing given that Ive heard good things about the rooftop.

2021-04-25Drinks were tasty but pricey and small and they were out of their signature cocktails. Required every person at the table to get a food item, which were also pricey and not wanted

2018-06-24Sitting atop the Hotel Hugo, Azul (one floor above Bar Hugo) may be a little out of the way, but its a great atmosphere for a summer drink in the sun, and boasts some pretty great views of Hudson River, Freedom Tower, and even the Statue of Liberty. And on the east side, some of the more iconic skyscrapers. The music is just loud enough to feel without making conversation hard, and the menu is a little pricey but good - great cocktails, some good snacks, and a pretty solid Cuban sandwich.
