Just what Harlem needed. An Italian & Wood Burning Pizza Restaurant! Very nice little spot in the prime 125th location (shopping, restaurant area in Harlem). Staff is typically nice and welcoming. They offer outdoor dining as well.Happy Hour menu is great and offers cocktails, wine and simple food options. It goes until 6:00pm on weekdays currently. I enjoyed the HH cocktail of the day Aperol Spritz and a 12 DOP pizza (not on HH menu). It was super delicious! 2nd time ordering it.Previous visits, Ive also had their short rib lasagna (a personal favorite and must try), brussel sprouts, barrata, Margherita pizza, calamari, mussels, and a few other items and they were all pretty good. They have awsome wines as well.Great restaurant for sharing. I would recommend this spot for a cute little date night, girls night out, for a friendly catch up or a casual neighborhood dinner solo or with a small group. I wouldnt recommend bringing strollers as it is small. Great music and atmosphere. If you are into Italian food and wines, you wont be disappointed.
I ordered eggplant parmigiana and a misto salad with no onions. The salad was covered in onions, the eggplant parmigiana had an unwanted and gross amount of random spaghetti included. After they attempted to scrape the salad of onions, the onion smell plus the onions they failed to remove were still there, I had to throw the salad away, a waste of $11 plus tax. The eggplant parmigiana was once my favorite dish there but this one lacked flavor and usually came with a side of French bread, they gave me 2 pieces of stale bread, it was horrible! If I had the time I wouldve demanded a full refund! Will not order from here anytime soon....
Customer service is everything to me and this restaurant nails it when it comes to high quality hospitality every time here. If youre a vegetarian they have delicious options for us to choose from on their creative menu. Great neighborhood not far from the 2 & 3 train, this is a secret gem to come to if youre in the area looking for flavor and chill ambiance.
Cute Italian spot in Harlem with outdoor seating. Get their Arancini di Carne bc OMG delizioso! We also got the Dear John pizza to share, a margherita with hot soppressata, which was good but maybe had a pinch too much soppressata that was overpowering. Also get their zeppoles bc they add nutella in the middle and OMG delizioso!! Service was attentive and I would come back if ever I am in Harlem craving pizza and zeppoles.
Was disappointed in the food. The Salmon and Chicken Pamesan were both dry. The waiter never came over to find out how we were doing, or to see how the food was. For it to be a Wednesday afternoon, and not crowded at all, they can do a better job with their service. On the check, it had a suggestion of 18& 25% and 30%. Get real! Be glad I gave 15%.
My partner and I have eaten at Babbalucci many times. Literally (at least) 50 times over the past 5 years, including in person and delivery. However, Babbalucci has slowly declined and it’s really sad to lose a trust in a local business. With their wood fire oven, they could be making excellent pizza! However, the care is just not there anymore. The staff always seem unhappy. We ordered tonight in the hopes that we were mistaken and that we’ve just had some fluke experiences. But this soup of balsamic reduction just disappointed. I hope things work out for them because I’d love to see the place thrive! We have so many memories there, but sadly, we won’t be ordering again anytime soon.
Had such a great experience here! I’ve passed by so many times and never knew this gem was right under my nose! We had the mussels, Margherita pizza, garden salad, zippolis and the sweet moscato. Literally everything was delicious. The food was really fresh too. Its a very relaxed atmosphere and the service was great. I can’t wait to go back. I’m going to try the salmon next yum!
I feel like they are trying to be fancy when theyre service and food is not up to par. As we were seated we were asked by our server if we wanted sparkling water or tap. The menu is extremely hard to understand for the average non Italian speaker. This is a casual joint, there were loud patrons and ghetto people inside who probably came from the club on the corner. They do not give complimentary bread with oil or anything. So I ordered garlic foccacia. It was sooo dry. No oil or butter. Tasted like eating a dry piece of pita bread. Since they specialize in woodburn pizzas we decided to go for a 16-inch which is a large pizza. It was cool to see the fire right in back of us where they make the pizzas fresh. For pizza it was half mushrooms and half pepperoni. The pizza is very flavorless along with everything else and barely any sauce and barely had anything it had pieces of fresh mozzarella which were good the mushrooms were like button mushrooms this had no flavor as well I asked for a side of marinated tomatoes and I asked what were they marinated in. The server said some type of vinegar when I got them I need to add salt and pepper to them they were so flavorless. It was almost closing time when we came so the server was rushing us then he asked if we wanted dessert and when I said yeah he said well you got like 5 minutes because the kitchen is about to close. The decor in here is very nice very romantic cute besides the creepy hanging dolls from the ceiling. As far as the drinks my drink was okay I got something with lemon and it tasted like a lemon head so I asked the server if they can add some more simple syrup. The prices are not bad like your typical Italian spot $16 and up. I just feel disappointed with the quality and taste everything its like theyre trying to be something that theyre not and theyre missing the mark. Instead of doing one thing really well they are all over the place.
We came across this place by chance. Was a busy Monday night and with no reservation we were still seated quickly. The meals were very tasty. If unsure of what to eat, go with the waiters recommendations. They know their food and they know its delicious. The dessert for me took 1st prize. Sugarhill creamery icecream and espresso...cant go wrong!
Best bianchi pizza Ive tasted. We were there during the day on a weekday and had great wine/food but slow/crabby service from someone who obviously wasnt happy to be there and wasnt the usual person doing the bar/serving. Too bad, could have been a five star experience.
First time and wont be my last time...the service and food was memorable from hello all the way to my last bite! The Thai pizza...you know what...Im building a craving just thinking about it and it is only 7:05am...so just go see for your self! They have personal size pizzas as well as pizzas to share...take a trip to Harlem and see what the rave is all about!
Lots of ups and downs here, first off the service was nice so no issues there. The wine wasnt great, we had the Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc but it was really really light and almost flavorless, not sure why they would have it on the menu to be honest. We got the Arancini appetizer and it was amazing! Loved it!! I would go back again to just get this. The food, not as good as I would have liked. The food is authentic but my gnocchi was lacking flavor, and seriously they put almost no mozzarella on my meal! It was one of 3 ingredients so.... I expect some Mozzarella! My husband has the pizza which was good, but he gave it a 7/10. Neither entree was worth having again. So this for me is a tough one. I likely will never go again.
Deserves every star. My go-to place when I’m in Harlem. Dining solo, bartender came right up to welcome me and asked me if wanted something to drink. Ordered risotto fritters and salad with fennel, delicious. Bartender came back over, would I like anything, what a pleasure. Super friendly servers and great food.
Friendly staff, but very disappointing pizza. Since it was the first time I was trying this place I went with a simple Margherita pizza and it was just embarrassing. It was obvious they used cheap yellow colored Polly-O cheese i/o fresh mozzarella, which is more of a white color...and all of the cheese didnt completely melt either. I took a bite of 1 slice and immediately threw it in the garbage, which broke my heart because I hate to waste food. $13 for a 12 pie I couldnt eat was a great lesson to learn b/c I wont be getting anything there again. Attaching pics of what the Margherita pizza looks like on their site compared to what I received. They didnt even bother to throw the basil on there!
We were a party of 6. We were well attended with only one order delayed (there was a mix up), but it was rectified as quickly as they could. They do serve alcoholic drinks. The place seemed clean, but with low lights and candles on the tables. For a Friday night dinner with drinks it was good. The music was a bit loud for me. I like restaurants where I can carry a conversation. I am hard of hearing, so it was a bit challenging to hear my party above the music. The ambiance was good.
Sadly this might be the last time I ordered from them. This is the second time the pizza came ice cold. I don’t like leftovers especially when paying $20 for a 12 inch pie. I only live 2 blocks away. The pizza should of arrived hot or at least warm. Babbalucci should take their delivery service a little more serious.
Good pizza if you are into variety. The main dishes are also good. Its quiet during the day which makes it a good place for a lunch date. The drinks are fancy, definately worth checking out. I love the brick oven in the back and the brick walls. It gives it a cozy feel.
Great food, comfortable environment and amazing staff. Best Italian food in Harlem for sure. Our waiter Devon was awesome and everyone enjoyed their dishes a lot. The salads and the honey pie in particular were phenomenal!! We had a party of 12 plus a babg and they were so accommodating to all of our needs.
Babbalucci is a fun restaurant and bar. I went in November when it was too cold to sit outside. But it seemed like the restaurant has nice outdoor seating options. The food is great. The menu is a primi and secondi format. The pizza choices are great. Theres a good selection of beer and wine. The cocktails looked delicious, and the prices hovered around 15 dollars. My wife and I split a salad, margarita pizza, and beef short rib lasagna. Its more of an Italian entree place than a huge plate of pasta restaurant. The service was excellent and the ambience was perfect for a date night.
The food is always well-made and delicious. The staff has gotten much better since the place opened—much friendlier and less stiff. It’s one of the best Italian spots uptown, for pizza, pasta, and other Italian specialties. It’s definitely my go-to Italian food spot (whether ordering online, to-go, or dining in).
On 3/17/21 after running my errands I stopped in babbalucci to #lol catch my second wind. That afternoon was my first time eating there, & yes the food was on point. Their famous 🐌 snails dish was marvelous, the 🦑 calamari is out of this world. Now Im not talking about your normal calamari. . . .boy this calamari is fun shake up type dish 🤗 . Oh I can not forget how tasteful there drink called harlem chill 🍹 is. Plus the relaxing harlem music playing in the background for an Italian restaurant. S/O to Alexander who took good care of me. #Harlem #foodie #food #foodies #letseat #weh .P.S I do not know if this review will let me post photos, nor how many but will try.
Great experience. Me and my friend spent about 3 hours here. With the exception of my slightly boring, and overly sauced spaghetti and meatballs (chef was very heavy handed with the sauce) everything was very very delicious. My friend had some seafood pasta that rocked my world. We had Appetizers, main course and dessert(zeppolis with nutella) and lots of wine. Would come back here just to try everything on the menu. Cozy welcoming environment with very friendly staff. First time here but not the last
The crust is pretty good but thats about the only thing they got right. If you want a decent pizza here stick with something simple. On their more complex pizzas the balance is all out of whack. Ive never felt like returning a pizza until I ate here. Which is a shame because I think if I had ordered a Margherita pizza it would have been good.
From start to finish, this place knocked it outta the park.Chic but cozy atmosphere and great music. I was seated immediately even though I was waiting for a guest. While waiting, my AWESOME server, Nat, brought me water and fresh charred bread with infused dipping oils.My cocktail [hibiscus gimlet ] was perfect. Deliciously balanced and fresh. We asked a lot of menu questions, and were provided with in-depth answers.I had a swordfish special with roasted tomatoes and olives, and my guest ordered the DOP , a popular wood fired pizza. Both of us were absolutely thrilled with our choices. The service was excellent, food was delicious, drinks hit the spot. 10/10 would go back.
Great family spot for pizza and pasta. Intimate for an afternoon tete a tete. Food was average, pasta al dente. The lentil soup was delicious. Pizzas come in a variety of sizes and ingredients, with perfect oven fired crust. Salads are definitely not a meal but only a side. Prices are moderate. Cappuccinos are good. Good enough, not great wine selection. Service was good and food delivered hot and quickly. Id definitely return for a lunch.
Went to Babbalucci with my very hungry family, six of us, on an early Sunday afternoon. We ordered pizzas and a calzone, all three were absolutely delicious. The two pizzas had a perfectly done, crispy crust, taken out of the oven not a second to soon, or late. If I had been making those pizzas, I couldnt have made them better. The calzone was huge, also perfectly baked. Regardless of how hungry we all were, we could not finish everything. In a nutshell, everything was delicious, portions were large, will definitely return. If you go, be prepared to take some of your did home with you.
Very good Italian pizzas, thin crust and only tasty toppings. The zucchini involtini (appetizer) are also delicious, so is the lemon ricotta cheesecake. Whats more, the staff is always very nice and gives great suggestions. Can be a bit crowded but we have always waited reasonable time for a table for 2. This is my favorite restaurant in this neighborhood!
Horrible experience. Wait staff is snooty and unwelcoming. Ordered a Romana salad as well as an oyster plate and two pizzas. The salad wasn’t a salad at all, rather two romaine hearts with cheese sprinkled on top. Waiter had an attitude when I asked for it to be chopped up and for more dressing because it was very dry. The oyster dish came out and it was prob the worst oysters I’ve ever had. Flavorless and forgettable. By this time my girlfriend started to wonder why the pizza was taking so long. It had been 45min since we put our order in. So I asked the waiter and he said he was waiting until our appetizer were done. I finished eating the salad and oysters 15 min ago at this point. He stated the pizzas would be out shortly. 20 minutes later we had had it and asked to cancel the order. The waiter deems is to be at fault somehow and gets very argumentative with us. I had a few beers while sitting there so I felt the best thing was to pay for what we had ordered up tell then and to never ever come back. Don’t go to this place.
The food was very fresh as were the ingredients. My guests went s second time to order the pizza. Even the 10 year old picky eater ate a hood amount of food. The kitchen was having difficulty and we could only order pizza and baked pasta. Hopefully it has been resolved. Friendly waitstaff and host. Arrive early to eat dinner on the weekend.
This is one of our favorite go to places in the neighborhood, but recently discovered Brunch which I highly recommend. There were specialty pizzas as well as the usual brunch type offerings. Get here before 12 because after that the place got packed and it was hard for the staff to keep up. A+ for an awesome jukebox :)
Instead of 5 stars, I give 4 stars only because the food took longer than I wanted to come out or maybe I was just starving and my hunger is making delusional. Anyways, the pizza is very very very very very delicious! My main course which was a fish special was out of this world. I will be back. Thank you, Babbalucci !!!
Babbalucci has a wonderful atmosphere. The service is pleasant, and appears to be clean. I was able to walk in and sit at the bar without waiting! There are people sitting outside enjoying their food and enjoying the great weather. At the bar, there is only one other person. The waiter asked me if Id like another of what I was having, I said yes. I waited what felt like 10 minutes for my next drink. He happen to look up and gave me the look of, oh yeah, youre waiting for a drink.
There was two of us. And one on the large size, and we like to try lots Of different foods. So we needed a bigger table. They refuse to give us a bigger table when there was no one of their. The blackmail hostess actually gave me his back while I was talking. Then a female waitress came. And said we might have a party of 5 coming in. Might reallyyyyy. The service sucks and I will never go back there again.
The pizzas here are great and reasonably priced. A mix of Australian style pizza (gourmet toppings spread across the pizza) and traditional Italian style (traditional toppings often grouped on a pizza). The cocktails are good as well. Only down point was the small selection of white wines - could do with more NZ wines.
This Central Harlem Italian restaurant/bar was a real let down. The decoration is inviting and the interior warm and inviting. And who can argue with a wood oven and outdoor seating. In addition the staff is friendly but, unfortunately the cooking is terrible. My veal Milanese was over cooked and almost black. The promised arugula was indeed spinach! My partners chicken so over cooked it was as tough as shoe leather. Enter this establishment at your own risk!
I been many times but this time was horrible, first my drink never come after 20 min waiting on the bar, I was waiting for a pizza. second they tried to charge again the pizza because the hoss made a confuse whit the receives When her manager coming made a nice comment if Im sure I was paid! noooooo I find the receive. I show. I didnt take my pizza. I request for the refund And tried to leave after the stress. I move to Harlem 7 month ago but I feel super discriminated for the local neighbors.
A little on the pricier side but a solid alternate if the line for Red Rooster is spilling out into the street. Price performance ratio knocks off a star here but the food and service is excellent. We had a sommelier upsell us some tasty wine and splitting a pizza and entree between us was a very good idea. If you could BYOB this place would be perfect, but as it is Im no fan of paying $16 a glass for just above average Cabernet.
A newer addition to the neighborhood. Babbalucci offers great oven pizzas with interesting and delicious toppings as well as great cocktails and good wine and beer selections. You could easily drop this restaurant somewhere downtown and it would fit right in. It is certainly a welcomed addition to Lenox!
My boyfriend and I were so looking forward to coming to this location for Valentines Day! In order to make sure we had a table, we called ahead of time and made a reservation. They said that they dont normally take reservations, but they would be taking them for Valentines day! I gave them my name and phone number and reserved a table for 6:30pm. When I got to the restaurant, they rudely told me that they dont take any reservations and would never have done that. They didnt offer any solutions or any way to solve the problem that their restaurant caused. Ended up having to go elsewhere. Would not recommend.
Hands down one of the best pizzas Ive had here in NY the sauce taste so original and so much flavor comes with every bite its so hard to explain youd have to just try it your self , the service is great my waiter was very attentive and helpful with the menu I cant wait to go back !!
Very disappointed. I ordered a large pizza today, paid by card over the phone 2 hours ago and still waiting for the delivery. I called the place several times and they keep telling me that the delivery guy should be there in less than 20mins. I will never order from this restaurant again. I wish I could give zero star for the poor customer service.
Really good authentic Italian in the heart of Harlem! Its rustic Italian but they keeping modern with a fresh mix of ingredients and new ideas on traditional pasta recipes. They make a mean Negroni and even though we came in late still were very attentive and didnt rush us through our dinner. The tiramisu was divine, I could eat that all day everyday.
So happy to have this delicious address near by. My first introduction with Babbalucci was with seamless and the pizza was so delicious that it picked my curiosity. I was not desappointed at all. Nice decor, nice music, the service is excellent, Ducky is the perfect waiter, present but discreet and respectful. The pizza sooo good:) the salads with perfect dressing. Selection of beers refined. OMG, my husband and I are delighted!!
The only reason I dont give it 5 stars is because they dont have a variety of dishes for vegetarians. However the quality of the food is high. Their costumer service is excellent. Totally welcoming of children but not sure if they have accomodations with high chairs and changing tables in restroom.
I wasn’t expecting much from the kitchen at this tiny Italian in Harlem. I was at Babbalucci at the tail end of a long and arduous day, flying out from SLC to NYC, fueled by too many over poured cocktails. Tomorrow is another long flight to Paris. The bartender was warm and friendly, and if not for the impending trip to the “city of lights,” I could have spent all night at Babbalucci. My pasta was cooked perfectly, al dente, with just the right amount of sauce. The pizza would be the best in multiple cities around the country. New York just has too much competition. If I lived in the neighborhood, my butt would leave an imprint on one of the bar stools at Babbalucci’s. Bravo!
Im a very Avid and frequent customer of Babbalucci but that has just changed!!! I placed an order an hour and a half a go for delivery and I still havent received my order yet. I called a few times and the person whos picking up the phone keeps hanging up on me. I will NEVER EVER place an order with them again. Ive already lost my appetite!!!
Once a pizzaiolo desert Central / west harlem is now flush with options for real pizza. Making no small contribution to that reality is Babbalucci. With a full menu of wood burn pizza options Babbalucci also offers great pasta options and a solid bottomless brunch. Full bar, quality wines and seasonal cocktails wash down the good fortunes. Buono appetito.

2022-01-29Wow, I love the service here. The people I was with knew the staff here, so we were treated well. The appetizers of calamari and fried Brussels sprouts were exceptional. Possible the best Brussels sprouts dish I’ve ever had. The calamari was super crispy and fresh and not oily unlike other calamari dishes you would have elsewhere. The pizza was awesome. The 331 pizza is a must. Exceptional meats on a fresh pizza. The eggplant pizza is also amazing. Crispy eggplant is the best, and a pro-tip is to substitute the ricotta cheese for burrata!

2022-02-23The best Italian food Ive had in the tri-state and new England area. Hands down amazing pizza, pasta and the friendliest staff ever. I took my Mom here for her birthday after waiting an hour trying to get into Sylvias and dont regret it. Just go! And ask about their wine selection!

2022-07-05Best pies outside of Connecticut. Might even be the best pies in NYC. Certainly my favorite, a lot better than Patsys uptown. Thank you Chef LoPresto - your wood oven is a necessary staple up in Harlem that is unmatched!!!!

2021-11-15Honestly, it was the best pizza I have ever had in my life! I had pizza with fried eggplants and cheese called “Norma pizza” and glass of red wine from Tuscan. It’s my friend’s favorite spot in the city so decided to discover it with her and happy that we made it. I will definitely go back again

2021-10-22Very tasty meals all around. Drinks were well made and food came out quick and hot. Chicken parm was soft and cheesy. The snails were really worth trying and everyone in my party enjoyed their meals. Would come again.

2022-02-16This is a nice Italian place with good atmosphere and a nice menu. I had pizza with Thai basil and cherry peppers which were a nice combination and the crust was good as well. The bar makes good cocktails and their wine selection isnt the largest but is good and certainly covers the bases. Ive had their cocktails in the past but stuck with wine this time going for the Malbec. The service was attentive but not overbearing. Overall Id recommend Babbalucci and look forward to my next visit here. I think this place is good for a quiet night out alone or with someone special.

2021-08-10Wonderful local Italian restaurant. The fettuccine with Harlem mushrooms is my favorite dish. So creamy, so savory! Ive had it a few times and it never disappoints. Others on the table had the lasagna and eggplant parmigiana. Everything was delicious, including the Campari spritz. Will be back again.

2022-02-07Had to come here to make a review of my experience from a couple years ago after I passed it on the street today. I ordered pizza for takeout and when I got home, I ripped off a piece of crust and found a piece of DUCT TAPE BAKED INTO THE CRUST. Like real actual tape, the gray stuff! In the crust!! I called and complained and sent them a photo and they didnt care. They said I had to bring the pizza back and show them in person, like they didnt believe me. Absolutely wild. Steer clear of this place!Edit: I see the owner has responded to me, so Ill post my response here. I understand that mistakes happen, but what galled me was the incredulity of the manager and the absolute rudeness of their reply. Id have appreciated a more gracious apology when I complained of the issue.
