Recently caught a show of Yo La Tengo at Babeville, first time there. Was very impressed with sound and lights. A nice space and very good acoustics being a former church. Drinks were easy to get and bathrooms were accessible. Like the idea of the balcony seating. Would definitely recommend this venue for future concert goers!
Went for my nephews wedding. Very impressed with the facility and the catering outfit. Building us a church renovated into a banquet hall. Great job on the renovation work. Catering crew was top notch. One of the dinner options was steak and the strip steak was a medium well ... still had a little pink. I usually avoid catered steaks since they almost always come well done. Great servers. I highly recommend it.
Amazing venue for concerts, weddings and corporate get togethers. This historic building has been restored and it is an absolute gem of architectural beauty as well as a friendly staff greeting and making you feel welcome! If you ever get the chance attend a concert here and the memories will last forever!
Went to my first concert at Babeville. Saw Robert Earl Keen and was very disappointed with the venue. I had heard so many good things about this old church turned concert hall that I was looking forward to a great night and great acoustics. The first warning should have been the old, wooden seats set up for us to sit in. My back, the backs of those around us pay a horrible price. So uncomfortable and they also tilted you forward at an awkward angle. My advice...stick with the white iplastic seats. So much more comfortable. The next problem was the acoustics. I believe the venue is to small for how the sound is set up. Everything was muffled and garbled for us as we sat 8 rows back from the stage. I wandered to the back of the hall and things sounded much better. That was the place to be. White plastic chairs abound in the back (since there is only about 25 rows, youll still see fine) and acoustics were cleaner. Will I go to Babeville again? Yes, of course. However, Ill be ready for a better show with the knowledge I just shared
I recently saw The Dead South at Babeville This concert took place at The Asbury Hall, the larger part of Babeville. It was my first visit there. This former church is definitely a cool place to see a show. I thought the sound was good. I was on the floor where it was standing only. The wrap around level above had seats. There were several bars. The bartenders were doing a great job taking care of everyone. The 9th Ward in the basement also seemed like a great place to hang out and see a performance. There was no cost check but there were plenty of hanging racks to leave your coat.
Great old church with good acoustics. Wish they had more local beers. Only had three kinds. The bar tender was nice but she got stuck doing double duty. Felt sorry for her. Godspeed! You Black Emperor was a very deep show that was enhanced by a tapestry of video background to open the mind from a political perspective.
Really great venue. We went to see a three act night and were thoroughly impressed with the venue. It is a converted church. Pews were taken out so the main floor is an open area with a stage at one end, bars on either side. The bartenders were fast and friendly. The balcony runs from one side around the far end and down the other. First come-first-seated on getting a spot. The only thing I thought was lacking were the number of spots in the bathrooms. It was a large crowd and the lines were long.
Its a small venue, but its really cool. Id definitely recommend seeing a show here. Clean and nice atmosphere. Nice little bar area, and the stage is right there. If you do go to a show here, there is a parking lot at the property. You can park in the reserved spots, but only after 5pm, just an FYI. Well be back!
First time here for a wedding a reception. Very cool vibe being an old church. The staff was excellent. Friendly and efficient. Food was a little disappointing. But, it was a large group and looked difficult to serve easily. The ambiance made up for a so so fillet. Liked it enough to plan on returning for a concert.
Absolutely beautiful setup. I went to a wedding reception here the atmosphere is gorgeous. There was slight seating issues and missing name tags. And the wait staff was friendly but not as observant as they could be they kept passing our table with the water fill ups and going to certain tables more frequently than others.
Its always a joy to see a show at this great venue, a former church turned into a preforming arts center. It is lovingly maintained and has beautiful stained glass windows. Go see your favorite artist there and show your support. We traveled 85 miles to see Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn and it was a great investment. Keep up the great work at this special place.
Super unique live music venue in Buffalo. The stained glass, church vibe always lends to how special a show here feels. The acts that play here are always super interesting, a great venue for unexpected, indie artists / up and coming acts, as well as true, well renowned classics.
Loved it but after the private meet and greet we were not aloud to go to our car to drop off our autographs record. It was nerve wrecking knowing someone could bump into us or grab it while we werent looking. I would be happier if they had a system to figure something out that could let you leave a moment and comeback. Or dont do autographs till the end of the show.
Having been to three concert events, my experience has been one of discomfort - not being able to get comfortable on the narrow, very hard folding chairs used for seating. Sitting uncomfortable and scrunched between the persons on either side of me didnt allow me to enjoy the otherwise great performances Ive seen.
I went to the 9th Ward which is downstairs below the main venue. Its a small intimate theater perfect for folk music. This evening we had 3 groups - all of them were excellent. The cover charge at the 9th Ward tends to be very low. I paid$10 for a very enjoyable evening. There is a bar serving a limited variety of beer, wine, and mixed drinks. Its a low key friendly place that I recommend trying.
I will give it 3 stars because the food and overall atmosphere was great but the bartenders were awful. They were slow to get drinks out and could only make the bare minimum. They also ID almost anyone young at a wedding which is unheard of. Besides awful bartender it was an awesome venue
Went for womens fair on small business Saturday. It was a pleasant surprise with many local craftsmen set up on the main floor of the former church. There are bathrooms on first floor as well a the lower floor which holds a bar. Theres a small parking lot on side of church.
Went to see Tommy Emmanuel (with opener Suzy Boggus). Both were fantastic. Tommy Emmanuel is a true virtuoso and plays at a level to which the gods aspire. Never heard Suzy Boggus before tonight, awesome voice, great tunes. Im only rating the venue a 3/5 because the seating really is lousy. I spent the first act leaning to my left because the guy on my right was even bigger than me wouldnt budge an inch. Finally at intermission we shifted our uncomfortable wooden folding chairs enough to give us both shoulder room, but by the end of the show my back and butt were screaming in pain. Great acoustics though. Beautifully done up inside too.
Great place to hear new original music. Good accoustics in the main hall and the basement room has a great speakeasy feel. Looking for some up and coming art? Hallwalls shows new artists at their very best. Never been disappointed in any shows Ive seen at babeville, be it music or art!
Visited on Buffalo Open Door tour. Quite an interesting place as it was a church that was destined to be torn down. Now is a music entertainment venue on two different floors. Also carries some history as it is very old (former) church. Would like to see some performance there some day.
One of the best venues in Western New York and my personal favorite. Asbury Hall The Church invites some the best national acts around (while having some of the best acoustics in town) and is a beautiful venue for weddings. The 9th Ward, a floor below Asbury Hall hosts local acts (it also has great sound). The people that run it are all amazing. As a local musician, its a always pleasure and a memorable experience to play at Babeville.

2022-03-27Just a perfect venue for our needs. School fundraisers can easily fall into the category of tired and boring. Well, with the help of a great band nerds gone wild, an outstanding venue, this fundraiser was a fantastic success. Thank you again, Babeville!

2022-05-20What a creative venue for both a wedding AND reception! The church has been renovated so that it is wide open in the middle. We had folding chairs set up below with an aisle for the bridal party and space on both sides, at least 10 round reception tables already set out under the balconies, an upper dais for the bridal party table, a bar in back, and serving tables on all sides, yet STILL had space for extra seating (not including the balcony seating on both sides). In fact, they could actually could have left the chairs from the ceremony down and still had room for dancing and mingling afterward. The vaulted church ceilings and stained glass windows gives the place the proper gravitas, yet the subtle colors & strings of paper lanterns and lights make it warm and intimate. A TRULY beautiful and versatile space!

2022-06-23Ive seen a handful of shows here and I love this place. From the ease of entry, to the access to the bars, this place checks all of the boxes. Being an old church really leans to not only the décor, but also the acoustics. Every show Ive seen there sounded amazing.Additionally, since it isnt a huge venue, shows have that intimate feeling, so you can really connect with those around you and also with the artists themselves.Cant wait to see more shows here in the future.

2022-04-15This repurposed church makes for a beautiful and unique venue. I love the church pews in the balcony but a little padding would go a long way. Acoustics and site lines were good for the standup show we attended. I can’t speak for live music.

2021-12-07Whoa! What a great venue! The old church is a fun place! Not a bad seat in the house. Clean, with friendly staff. Tons of fun!

2022-06-19Beautiful venue, weve been to great concerts but why host a punk band when security is gonna throw temper tantrums over the moshing and crushed cups on the floor? If the pit is small enough they start throwing people out like, just let a different venue take the band at that point.
