Babylon Bike Shop has been thorough and helpful everytime I have visited. The mechanic work has been great too (yearly tune ups, any repairs, complete bike buildup). I totally recommend the shop to all my family and friends (and anyone in general). Great group of people to work with for your bike needs/wants.
I have not bought a bike for myself in over 40 years. My chiropractor recommend this shop since I was in the market to buy a bike. Spoke to Patti, she was really informative and patient with me in selecting the right bike. I purchased a Specialized Roll...which when she first mentioned it I thought I was ordering Chinese. Bottom line....great contact with Patti, great shop....and the bike is the best ride, worth every dollar. Thank you Patti11/2018 Just want to give an update....My wife bought the exact same bike I have, one year later. We dealt with Mike. Same great service! Thank you all.
I bought my Specialized Stumpjumper from Babylon bicycle shop and the service they give their customers is excellent. I had a loose bolt on my rear cassette, and they actually went out to buy the tool required to fix my issue, and they didnt charge me for the service since my bike is still under warranty. I was hoping that it would have fixed an issue I am having with my 3rd gear sounding as though it is grinding, so I will have to go back, but I am sure they will be just as helpful.
We purchased three Jamis mountain bikes from Babylon Bike shop and couldnt be happier with their service. They took great care in properly setting up the bikes for each of us. The services they performed and the advice they gave were incredibly valuable. We wouldnt ever contemplate bringing our business anywhere else.
Just purchased a Beach Cruiser for my daughter for her birthday. As always, Bike shop has a great selection and great prices. Mike was pleasure to deal with. Been using Babylon Bike for years for all my triathlon bikes, gear, and service . I live almost an hour away and it is always worth the extra ride for the top notch service and expert knowledge. Great Shop.
Patty and Mike were Awesome! Both were very patient and informative. Patty was a pleasure to speak with over the phone when we were calling around for a specific kind of SE Racing bike for my son. She essentially was the reason why we chose Babylon and not another shop to make the purchase. I would highly recommend for all of your cycling needs!
Doug, the owner of Babylon Bike Shop has a very poor sense of customer service. I watched him kick someone out of the store on my first visit (with my sister to purchase a bike for my niece) and gave him the benefit of the doubt that he was entitled to do so. In hindsight it was inappropriate behavior for a business owner no matter how you look at the situation.I recently had an issue with my bike and went to Babylon Bike Shop again. I dealt with Doug on the first visit and Mike on the second to drop my bike off. Mike was very unhelpful and quickly became contentious when asked questions he could not answer. Doug (who was not present that day) supports Mikes behavior and asked me to pick my bike up since they were no longer looking to help me. Overall I wasted my time and worst of all I lost a few summer weeks of riding. I was extremely patient with these guys even though I was treated very poorly. For them to refuse me service after that, is just a slap in the face. I always try to support local business but this place does not deserve it.Stay away from Babylon Bike Shop if you want to keep riding.
In summary - no one else will touch my bike for maintenance and fitting other than Babylon Bike Shop. Yes, there are other good bike shops out there, but these guys get it in terms of what matters not only to riders, but triathletes. They get and understand the sport of triathlon and take extra steps to get everything right in terms of maintenance, fitting, what you can afford, your skill levels, etc. And my experience of how I have been treated has been first rate. Trust me, I dont write reviews too often unless I have something to say one way or the other that is really compelling either thumbs up or thumbs down. Its thumbs up all the way for them. I highly recommend Babylon Bike Shop.
The team at Babylon bike are some of the nicest and honorable business people i have ever had the pleasure of dealing with!!! I highly recommend them for any / all of your biking needs. They went above and beyond to help me out, in a pinch, during some ironman training rides - i cant thank them enough!!!Head to Babylon Bike Shop - you will not regret it!!!
I have been a BB customer for well over 20 years. I had purchased 4 bikes before this year : a Fuji road bike for my wife, later a carbon fiber Specialized Amira, once it was clear she was hooked, another Specialized for my friend (now in his garage on airless tires, no doubt) and my Specialized Festina M4 with a full Campagnolo groupset. Every time, Mike checked every detail and made sure that every component met my needs, size and riding style.I rode the heck out of that Specialized until my wife, God bless her, showed me a beautiful Cervelo on Craigslist and suggested I buy it. She said it was time, and after 18 years, it surely was. I called Cervelo to verify that the bike was legit and not stolen nor counterfeit. It checked out, but the rep advised against buying used a carbon bike.I decided to call Mike, knowing that he would shoot straight and not try to just sell be a new bike for his his own good. He gave me the pros and cons and let me decide. I was willing to spend a good amount of money, but any married guy knows they need to be (somewhat) reasonable. We went back and forth, with Mike checking options, preferences, prices and he came up with a beautiful Cannondale System Six carbon, with an Ultegra groupset at a price that I (and my wife) were very happy with.I should mention that I moved from Long Island 6 years ago, and still use only Babylon Bike because I TRUST them, even if it means renting a car and driving out from our apartment in the city whenever I needed more than some tubes or basic items.Mike is a gentleman, knowledgeable and takes the time to get to know what you need and what will be best for you...not him. Not that he shouldnt make a good living either, but he has done right by me time and again.I am sure I tested his patience hanging around the shop and BS-ing when I was just getting a tube or some gels back in the day, but he never let on. Thanks, Mike for all youve done. Thanks as well to his mechanics, who ensure that our bikes shift flawlessly, and ride like a dream. Top notch. And to his business partner, Doug, who didnt forget my name, even when I walked in and he had not seen me in years. Things like this makes a difference. Great shop.
Constantly disappointed with this shop.. each time I need a part I try to support local and call or go there. Each time their customer service is some of the worst Ive seen.. today I tried to give them another shot - called and was immediately yelled at on the phone, then was told I would get called back and never got a return call. Constantly disrespected by staff every time I go in there since I was a kid.
You know how people always tell you to support your Local Bike Store? I would if they were nice enough to support the DIY bicycle mechanic looking for some parts. Unless you own a super fancy $1,000+ intermediate race bike owner, they basically treat you with this bike snob elitist mentality. When another customer brought in his Specialized, the employee just stopped helping me to deal with the specialized guy. And after I finished my transaction, I mentioned to the employee I was looking for a new bike. Cut me off by saying come back in a month, because they dont have any bikes that fit your size. Seriously that is a first for me as male and Im not sensitive about my size.
I work with lots of Triathletes and the name of this shop has come up a number of times, however I was extremely disappointed when I went out of my way to visit the shop. Maybe its because I was unfortunate to enter the store at the same time as someone who had a high end bike and I was just browsing, I was basically treated as though I didnt exist. If I ever mention this place to any of the many Triathletes I work with, it will be to let them know how very unhelpful they were .
I have been a customer at babylon bikes for many years. I have since relocated to SoCal but still keep in touch and place several orders there each year. Mike is one of the top fitters on the island. You will not be disappointed in the service or selection at Babylon Bikes.
Purchased a Specialized Sirrus Sport from Mike 1 1/2 years ago and just moved up to a Specialized Roubaix Sport last week. Mike , Nick and everyone were awesome helping me choose the right bike and fitting me properly. I am already in love with this bike , between the comfort, handling and speed Im getting out of it. Thank you for all youre assistance.
I went twice in the past week. Both times, I had my rim and a new inner tube in hand, and all I needed was for them to replace the inner tube. The same young guy did an excellent job both times (he even recognized me the second time), and I was in and out in under 15 minutes. So, why 1 star? Well, the first time, an older man set the price - since I brought my own inner tube, he said $10. No problem. The second time, the older man was not there, and some middle-aged man set the price - $20. Since I was there just days prior for the same exact job, I said, Just out of curiosity, why is it $20? I was here just days ago for the same job and was charged $10.This seemed to set him off, and he immediately went into defensive mode. We just spent 15 minutes sanding down the rim!False. No, your guy took 15 seconds to scuff it - I was there, watching the entire time. He continues, Well, we still had to diagnose it!False. No, I pointed out the imperfections in the rim and asked your guys if that might be the problem. Which it wasnt, BTW, because the hole in the inner tube was not on the inner side. The young guys doing the work pointed this out, but the middle-aged man clearly did not take notice. He then turned to the woman actually charging me and told her, Just charge him $10, and he wont be back.Yep. I just got banned from the local bike shop because management could not explain why I got charged two different amounts for the same work.FWIW, this isnt about the $10; this is about the inconsistency. Had they charged me $20 the first time (which I would have paid, and I would have still went back today), then we wouldnt have had this conversation. Hell, if he had simply said, Sorry, $10 was too low for that job, we do have to charge $20. - or even, Sorry, your rim is heavier than usual, so we do have to charge $20. - or any other believable reason, then I would have gladly paid the $20.So, shoutout to the middle-aged man with the attitude. Youre right, I wont be back - not because you banned me, but because I dont want to deal with your attitude. Youve earned your store a 1 star review.I feel bad for the younger guys doing the actual work. If you guys read this, listen, if I could have just given YOU the $20, I wouldnt have even questioned the price difference, because Id know youre not just pulling a number out of your behind.
I want to support Babylon businesses, but the Babylon Bike Shop is overpriced and their bike repairs are of poor quality. I have tried to utilize their services, but have been disappointed time and time again. They had my 2 year old bicycle (purchased through a big box store because Babylon Bike has a limited selection) dropped it off to have a tune up and fix the gear line (derailleur). Four weeks later, I received a call that the bike was ready. I go and pick it up and while riding it home, I notice the gear line was not repaired. I immediately brought it back. I had to wait and they rushed to make the repair. After bringing the bicycle home I noticed that the rubber grips were torn, but I decided not to bother them with this insignificant detail(90$). Again, brought the bicycle in with a flat (front), one of the workers said my tires were bald and I needed to change them, I agreed and after 2 days I picked up the bike and the front tire was the same and only the rear was changed. The bike looked like a mismatched mess. I complained and the owner, while gripping took my bike, instead of communicating that he only had one mountain bike tire, replaced both tires with cruiser tires (on a mountain bike) (90$). Again, I kept quiet. Had a blow out with the new cruiser tires, reluctantly brought the bike in and asked for both tires to be replaced with mountain bike tires. I pick up the bike, and had to bring it back immediately because the brakes were badly installed and were rubbing against the tire rim (making a loud groaning sound). After they quickly adjusted the brakes, I left. That day I took the bike for a ride and I noticed that they bent the rim and now the front tire wobbles (121$). Will travel and have another bike shop make repairs from now on. Buyer beware….
Just got a new front tire, kid that helped me was very helpful and nice, but the owner i think, wearing above knee jeans up to his waist and his shirt tucked in just doesn’t know how to be a pleasant people person, no hello, no how are you, pretty rude. Just gonna buy my stuff online from now on and do it myself.
Every time Ive visited they were friendly and accommodating. They have a nice retail selection and a sizable repair shop in which more than one tech (one time 4) was working every time Ive stopped by. I wish I lived a little closer as I would make this my regular shop.

2022-01-26I bought an entry level trail bike online and having built and raced bikes in my youth, I knew assembly wouldnt be an issue. I was wrong. I built BMX bikes in my youth. Adjusting and fine tuning derailers was new to me. While I was able to get the bike together and ride it, I wanted it to be at optimal performance. I also wanted to change out pedals and tires for something a bit more trail worthy than what it came with. I called to see if I needed an appointment to bring it in for a tune-up and the new tires and pedals and to my surprise was told to just bring it in and drop it off and it would be done in a few days. I did. Not even 24 hours later I got a call saying the bike was ready. Now theyre tuning up my fat tire bike also. Great owners. Great staff. Great service. My only regret is that I let my impatience get to me and I ordered a bike on-line instead of from my local shop. Ill never go anywhere else again.

2021-06-21Everyone who works is here is so kind and extremely knowledgable. I always appreciate when places under promise and over deliver. I was told it would be roughly a week and a half turnaround for my tune-up, which is fine considering most other places its minimum 3 weeks and they charge double to triple the price. I got a call this morning my bike was ready and its only been 6 days. When I visited the store it was neat, clean, tune ups were done visibly by the back entrance. Selection is very good, prices are more than reasonable. They were also very patient and kind to my four-year old which always gets respect in my book. Definitely check this shop out before you go online or to a big box store, you will definitely get that neighborhood shop charm and wont be disappointed.

2020-07-27Over the past few years I have purchased several adults bikes, a bike for my daughter and have had numerous bike repairs done by the team at Babylon Bike Shop. I couldn’t be more happy with the service, the professionalism and the friendly atmosphere I’ve experienced each time I am in the shop. The entire crew there is extremely knowledgeable, they treat their customers with respect and are always looking out for the best interests of the customer. I would highly recommend any type of bike service and/or purchase from the shop! You won’t be disappointed!!

2020-07-27Babylon Bike Shop is the only place Ill go to buy a bike. Ive bought 3 different bikes from there (road, mountain, triathlon) over the years and love them all. The owners Mike and Doug are extremely helpful in finding the right bike for you. Their staff is also very knowledgeable and do a wonderful job with service, especially Nick. This is how a local business is supposed to be: warm, friendly, almost like family. 10/10 would recommend!

2020-07-27I’m not one who ever writes reviews but I think given these trying times and the specific impact on local bike shops a review makes sense. I’ve been a loyal customer to Babylon Bike Shop for 20+ years. I travel over 40 minutes from my house and pass many shops along the way. I’ve sent countless friends and family there as well. The shop is equally attentive whether I was buying a top of the line racing bike or a first time bike for one of my children or neighbors.Every time I’m in the shop I see firsthand how attentive the floor staff is to each and every customer whether you’re an experienced rider or just looking for a beach cruiser. They never try to up-sell anyone, always making sure the customer is getting the right bike NOT the most expensive one. There is a reason I travel far just to come to this shop.

2020-07-27I was helping a friend shop for a bicycle, and this shop was recommended. We went in and met MikeAnd Doug. Turns out they are incredibly knowledgeable and extremely helpful. My friend purchased a bike from them, and a few months later I bought one, both great deals.Whatever I need, they have or will get, with kindness and courtesy.Additionally, Mike is a bike fitter extraordinaire. If you haven’t been able to get a good fit, Mike will probably fix it.
