I wish I could give them a 4.5 because there bagels are absolutely delicious but the service is slow. The drive through normally takes longer than I have for a quick bite during lunch. But, Id highly recommend if you have some extra time grab a bagel or a dozen. I also really enjoy that they have chicken sausage for their sausage, egg and cheeses!
Great food BUT the drive thru service person is rude.. she seemed annoyed at my order of three sandwiches, bakers dozen and coffee. Was told to come into store to order next time and when I asked why I was ignored. At window when I implied again the gentleman wasn’t sure why the girl on intercom would say that and apologized. If there’s some “rule” to order from drive through then it should be stated, I will not return to establishment where they seem “bothered” to take or make my order. Pity because My family and I love their bagels.
The food is good, prices are bit high for a low income city looking for a quick bit to eat. Staff is a bit obnoxious if you sit inside. The “anything else” phrases 9 times when you order is annoying and pushy. Communicate with the customers inside better. Each customer is worth a certain level of capital. Returning customers have a high capital imprint on the company.
Update: Drive-thru is still an issue during busy hours, but thats something that is common everywhere else in the AM. Bagels are still wonderful. Menu hasnt changed since the pandemic, like so many other restaurants who have downsized. Some staff could be a little friendlier, but again, its something I try to have patience with, since so many people have become so rude since the beginning of the pandemic. All in all, this is still a great place to go to for bagels, a good schmear, and a nice to go breakfast. They really do have the best bagels here in Buffalo. I like their different cream cheeses, especially their veg. They make excellent breakfast sandwiches. Lunch sandwiches arent bad but not my first choice. Their salads arent spectacular. Theyve got a good bottled/canned beverage section inside and they serve pepsi products. The drive-thru at this location is a nightmare though. During the busy times cars will be backed up all the way into another parking lot, and its very hard to turn into. Much faster to go inside.
I understand this place is WAS a staple of Buffalo, and I used to go here all the time. The food is so mediocre now. The quality and quantity of even my bacon egg and cheese has drastically reduced. I was in the drive-thru line for about 30 minutes, no exaggeration, for just one sandwich. Not to mention paying $5 for a breakfast sandwich! Never again will I eat here. going to spot coffee or tim hortons from now on.
There are a array of bagels to choose from. There was even a bagel in the flavor of cranberry orange! Too cool. Bagel Jays is about the best real bagels that you can get around our area. So yum and run and get yourself some bagels. Oh the cream cheese you can purchase is just ok. Not bad but Philadelphia cream cheese is creamier, but thats just a personal opinion. The staff at this location were all very friendly.
The bagels are amazing. Been coming here for years and this is really the only place to get a real bagel! Try the chicken salad its my go to. Flavored coffee is always great here too. The reason for 4 stars is because it seems the everything bagels are less everything these days... still delicious though!
Based on the other reviews, I dont know if this is an issue exclusively with the drive-thru, but my order was both incorrect and poorly done. My wife ordered a regular cappuccino and the server repeated the order back, but received a french vanilla cappuccino. I ordered a bagel toasted with butter - it was not toasted but was overloaded with butter. Both had to be thrown out unfortunately. I always seek out locally-owned restaurants, but unfortunately consistency can sometimes be a problem, as is the case here. Very disappointed with my experience and will not be returning.
Amazing! The Hubby and I both got bagel sandwiches, and the bagels were as fresh as could be. The staff was wonderful and kind. They also took care of an older gentleman while we were there, and you can tell he was a regular. The staff was so kind and full of smiles (even though they were wearing masks I can tell when someone is giving a genuine smile 😁) and it warmed my heart to see that. I will definitely be coming back. You can go in or use the convenience of the drive thru. Thanks Bagel Jays! ❤
I have been in their long drive through lines and instore as well, but last Thursday really was my last time. I parked my car and went insided. There was no one online waiting to order and no one waiting at the register for orders. There were 4 people working behind the counter. One young man told me that someone would help me shortly. I watched as orders were processed for 8 cars outside online and then my order was taken for 2 bagels with nothing on them to go. I felt like I was in that store forever and feel there was no reason to continue to wait again like I did at the register. This whole process took 17 minutes just to get 2 bagels.
The best bagel Bagels in Western New York a few years ago an arrogant outfit from New York City what the bagel Brothers chain and decided. Their own Bagels were so much better than the bagel brothers that they change the formula to their Manhattan Bagel formula today there are no longer any Manhattan Bagels in Buffalo this is happened some other several other times with other businesses being bought out
Will never return to this business. Thrown out of restaurant because I entered by permission of employees putting outside seating in place. 3 minutes before opening time. Used to stop when I was in town, after being treated like that, I will never go back. I waited outside for over a half hour to enter. As far as Im concerned, Ill go elsewhere w my money, If sales mean nothing to this business. There is a Tim Hortons a couple blocks up the street and they were happy to have my business w a smile.
Customer service was not great. I’m fine if it’s busy and I have to wait, but at least you can make up for it by having friendly service and accurate order taking. (Neither of which, I experienced.) The bagel was the only good part about the bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. Only received one of the two coffees I ordered, but wasn’t charged for it so I left without it. And the person taking the orders just kept repeating “Anything else?” After everything anyone said.
Not sure what is happening with your drive through. I watched a car pull up to the window and I drove to the intercom. I sat there for 8 minutes with no one addressing me via intercom. Worst part is, I was stuck as 3 other vehicles pulled in behind me and the car in front was still waiting. Finally the cars behind me started reversing and leaving and I was able to back out. You lost 4 cars worth of customers. If you dont want to run the drive through please put up a sign or something so I would have just known to come in. Not sure if ill be returning.
I have been going to this Bagel Jays for 8 years on Fridays when I am on my route. For the past 4 weeks the Girl with the triangle tattoo on the back of her neck has had such a bad attitude towards customers. She has been real snippy with me and my partner and is am really think it may be time to look for a new spot for my coffee and breakfast.
Bagels are delicious, pretty much the best youre gonna get around Buffalo. They used to put more cream cheese on though. I feel like theyve gotten stingy with it, and never spread it around evenly. Also they no longer have egg bagels. They have too many other more unusual flavors, but for some reason eliminated a classic like egg.
I remember coming here once or twice back in my day and atleast one good time within the past year or so... My experience was GREAT!!! Came in for a sandwhich but left with an extra item or so.. Thats always a good indication of something going on right. The service was excellent and so was the food. The lady made me feel real at ease and understanding when trying to decide what I wanted. Definitely your go to spot no matter what time of the day whenever you are in the area!!!
Just tried to go through the drive through. The lady kept asking me to speak up because she couldn’t hear me so I pulled up some so she could here me better and she stated again to speak up so again I spoke up and she said rudely, “no said you had to scream”. She was rude from the begging of the interaction to the end. Needless to say I drove off and didn’t order, learn better customer service.
Dont waste your time or money. My first time there and I will never go back. Bought a bagel sandwich, which looked decent, but I was afraid to eat it due to the fact that I bought a yogurt parfait for an afternoon snack, and it was lukewarm at best, with the berries floating in the top of it because it was so warm. The granola was extremely stale too, and chewy. I cant believe they actually served that to someone. Good job.
This is a great place for a quick bite on a fresh bagel. They have a great variety of affordable, locally themed sandwiches, cream cheese spreads and a few wonderful carry- out desserts including chocolate dipped macaroons and iced brownies. Nothing fancy about the place, just consistently good affordable breakfast to late afternoon food. Not open for dinner.
Stopped here for a quick bite for lunch. There was no one in line so I thought it would be quick. I stood where the sign said order here. There were several employees behind the counter making sandwiches and fulfilling orders. I stood there for a few minutes and made eye contact with them, waiting for one of them to take my order. After a few minutes of being ignored I went to the cashier to place my order. Shs took my order and I waited... And waited and waited. Eventually other customers came in and placed and got their orders, and Im just standing there. Finally I said something and a few minutes later I got my order. A sesame seed bagel toasted with cream cheese. It took 20 mins, and there were maybe 3 other customers that came in after me.The food was good but not the customer service.
Excellent food. But however every time I get food here, especially in the drive thru it takes 20-30 minutes for just a bagel with cream cheese. Its better food than Tim Hortons so thats why I keep coming back. But I just wish they would have a more organized system. Theres always 6 people behind the counter and barely any guests in the cafe yet the drive thru always takes so long.
I was here this morning after my semi annual dental cleaning. I took care of muself so now it was time to be good to myself. I picked up a half-dozen bagels, a tub of lox smeared cream cheese and a lox bagel sandwich. All was downright yummies. They have other sandwiches that Im looking forward to trying.
Went this morning. 4 cars ahead of me in line. Waited 16 minutes to get to the window for 1 bagel and a juice. When I told the server that it took 16 minutes he was rude. Said he was busy and close the window as soon as he handed me the bag. I will NEVER go back there again and will let everyone I know about the experience.
Delicious, but OUTRAGEOUSLY disorganized. On average, it takes about 20-30 minutes for a toasted bagel with cream cheese. And thats not with a line out the door. Thats with one person in front of you, 6 employees behind the counter, and an empty shop. They dont even give you a total until AFTER you twiddle your thumbs for 20 minutes, and then they have the audacity to act impatiently if you take 10 seconds to count out change. Thats simply outrageous. Unfortunately... its also the norm. Their low cal veggie spread is the only reason I keep wasting alllll that time in line. They have a fantastic product, but havent figured out how to streamline their productivity or customer service yet. Otherwise, Id visit more often. Its not exactly rocket science. Their management team should take a trip to McDonalds. It could just be aspirational.
A bagel place slash coffee shop with the slowest wifi in the city. If breakfast and studying is ever your goal with coming here i suggest downloading your content before arriving. Honestly my friends dial up in ishua N.Y. is faster than this trash... Quality of food in such an establishment is less than half the battle. Not to mention the location feels like soms middle america strip mall not the city, i want to feel like i am where i am not somewhere off the interstate in Virginia.
I bought a Groupon and the store would not honor it. Apparently the Manager needed to be on duty to use. The strange thing is the manager almost knocked us over leaving while we were entering. He was on his cell phone and oblivious to us. I cannot recommend a store which gets you there under false pretenses.everyone appeared Rude. This was the amherst store. This rating system is strange. The Worst Ratingis Fair to poor. How about an overall of ZERO as the customer below mentioned..

2022-07-21Quite possibly the worst bagel I have ever had. I had a “tomato pesto” bagel that barely had any flavor. It was also as hard as a rock, as if it was sitting out for days. It wasn’t even toasted. My husband had a plain bagel and asked for sausage and cheese on it. He got sausage and egg, which tasted like it has been sitting under a heat lamp at a gas station. The bagels were tiny and bad quality. Don’t go here.

2022-07-10Bagels are great, cream cheese is kind of eh. The drive through is slow but I always dread going in because the guy who rings you up is just not a happy person. Never pleasant and seems annoyed at everything, even the customer handing him money… The ladies making the food are super friendly! (Delaware location)

2022-03-28If you want sausage, be warned it for some reason comes inside of an egg puck. Said puck gets microwaved and thrown on an overwhelmingly mediocre bagel with two measly strips of bacon, sliced thinner than fine prosciutto. So on a sandwich that was supposed to be sausage, bacon and cheese (notice no egg), after removing the egg which has been glued to the top of the bagel with the cheese, I’m left with a bagel and two pieces of bacon that look like strips of crumpled brown construction paper. I can’t wait to be hungry again in 10 minutes.

2022-06-21If I could give no stars I would. This business does not treat people of color with the same respect that they treat their white counterparts. It’s clear to see that they show favoritism to certain customers.

2022-06-20Bagels are great. Microwaved, rubbery egg is the only reason I cant give 5 stars

2022-06-19Love the cleanliness, organization, atmosphere, and friendly efficient staff! I could literally eat a cream cheese & nova on a cheddar jalapeño bagel everyday and be a happy camper! 😊😋
