Having grown up downstate and living the area, I must be spoiled by what I experience at my local bagel shops. I ordered a Ham Egg and Cheese with Tomato on a poppy, and while the sandwich overall was tasty enough, the prep was very off. After slicing the bagel, before anything went on, the counter person cut the bagel in half (usually the last step), then he assembled the ham, cheese and tomato, and placing it under a broiler while he microwaved an egg to scramble it. (very Einsteins Bagels of them). All the local bagel places by me hand cook their eggs. After building and wrapping, I got to my office and discovered that I have to cut the sandwich in order to cut the ham that he placed on the sandwich...this is why cutting in half is the last step. In the words of Spinal Taps Nigel Tufnel, an utter catastrophe. While looking at the cream cheeses and other offerings in the window while he prepped, the tuna looked OK, the cream cheese had dry areas, and the egg salad appeared watery. Going forward, will seek out other bagel places to try.
I really enjoyed this place and will likely return. Got an everything bagel with nova lox, which was exactly what I was hoping they had. All the toppings were fresh and they even had my favorite, capers. The staff was friendly and attentive, and put our orders together with care. Highly recommend if you like bagels!
I had to stop in for a quick bite, because I was running late to work. I purchased a coffee and a breakfast sandwich bagel. The cashier was not very friendly. It seemed like they didnt want to be there. They were so caught up in their misery they did not give me a receipt. The order line seemed to be in disarray. The coffee is effectively rocket fuel you can get at any gas station for less money. The bagel was fairly good, just a little spendy for what you get.I am conflicted. I wanted to like this place, but I doubt I will ever return. There simply is no reason to.
Bagel Jay’s on main in Snyder needs some serious managing! I don’t know what has happened but the line is slow, people are not motivated to get your food out quickly and orders are rarely correct. Not to mention the people on the line are rolling their eyes. They need an overhaul in managing this place and they need it now.
The best place for bagels in WNY. Always a clean store with friendly staff, whether its a slow day or a busy weekend morning. Yes, they are a bit pricey, but when it comes to bagels, and bagels sandwiches, with cost comes quality and satisfaction. I recommend their bagel breakfast sandwiches & their lunchtime bagel sandwiches.
I really do love the bagels but the customer service has interfered with me being able to even order from there before work.Let me explain, due to the poor behaviors of the staff and how rude they were to me I decided I would just call and order my food over the phone for pick up, I started doing this a couple weeks ago. I’ve tried to give them countless countless chances as I go to this location every single morning before work. But the male manager is very rude.Which led to me only placing over the phone orders. But half of the time when they answer the phone, they put you on hold and they do not answer again making you wait 15+ minutes for nothing even if you call again. Sometimes completely unplugging the phone.Today when I went in and decided to pick up my order I placed over the phone, The lady manager was swearing about some type of wound she acquired on the job, and the store was in disarray, no check out line and new orders line. People within 6 feet of each other. It was just overwhelming and I won’t go there again. $15 a day on food adds up anyway.
Overall management and training sorely lacking. A crowd of customers standing around waiting in line to order, waiting to pay, waiting for your order. No system whatsoever; a cluster of confusion and disorganization. The nice enough employee that took my order asked what I wanted on my bagel and lox. You’re an alleged NYC bagel establishment, you should know this. Oh well, I just dictated the “recipe” and backed up into the crowd of waiting customers. Decided to pay while waiting. Cashier possesses no customer service skills. No good morning, no please, no thank you. Gave him my card for payment, he swiped it handed it back, asked if I wanted a receipt, gave it to me ... “have a nice day??? Come again??” Smile ... NOTHING! Just handed my card back. His demeanor was neither nervous or overwhelmed, more of “I’m bored and don’t care”My bagel ... had a THICK slice of lox, a tough chew. It should be very thin, as this is something of a delicacy. Please take a trip to NYC someday and see how it’s really done before you claim the NYC bagel experience in your commercials. In the interim, ll go back to Wegmans.
Are used to go to Bagel Jay is every day. But the one on Main in Harlem, takes too long. I call the Male manager, Leaves me on hold for 15 minutes or better. Then when you get your food sometimes it’s not right. I feel like if you are too busy to take calls don’t pick up the dam phone. I’m probably gonna start going to Paulas donuts.
We have been going to bagel jays for like 4 years but heaven forbid every time we order the GREEK SALAD nobody seems to know to make it. When I say every time I mean it’s every time. Just like today my husband waited for the girl who is I guess trying to make it didn’t shake the dressing so it’s a plain oil dressing cut the onion so small that you can even see it anymore. Maybe the GREEK SALAD is not the main food item bagel jays is known for but the salad it self is very good specially if made/ prepared properly. Please I’m calling out for the owners and managers please train your crew.
Bagel Jay’s is a great spot to come in and have a quick bite or buy a dozen bagels to take home. They have numerous flavours of bagels and cream cheese. We stopped in and had a bagel with their homemade garlic cream cheese, it was amazing. We are from Ontario, so we took some home to freeze. They were very good.
I love coming here because it’s close to my school and the food is always good. My only complaint is one employee who’s always rude. I was the only person in line, but I waited at least 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged I was there. She had the audacity to roll her eyes right in front of me when someone asked her to take my order.
If this is buffalos standard of a good bagel place, then might as well close the doors, terrible unfriendly service/hostile work place environment, it seems like figuring out how to toast a bagel was the hardest part of their day. The bagels are small and hard and would be a better rock than a bagel, you could build a wall with them, let trump know
Arrived at 2:35 and the door was locked. (Website says they close at 3:00) Several people were outside, wanting to go in, and had tried to call, no answer. There where several employees inside, just ignoring us. The OPEN sign was on. Restaurants are struggling and Bagels Jay’s just closes? One gentleman said he was here for the 1st time. Yikes, Bagel Jays, not a great first impression.
Sure. It was very difficult to hear the employees who werent speaking loud enough behind masks, so I had to ask them to repeat themselves multiple times which became frustrating. Also, I asked for a toasted bagel but it was instead put in the microwave and therefore had a rubbery texture as opposed to a crisp one.
I always enjoy Bagel Jays. This Main Street location isnt my favorite of their locations (the Williamsville one is), but I find it hard not to like any Bagel Jays. They are efficient; and they always have fresh, perfect-sized bagels. (I say perfect-sized because I use them mostly for sandwiches at home.)The one thing Ive noticed has consistently not run easily for the employees: the cash register. Several times at this location have we (the employee and I) had to wait on the register to finish checking out.
Great variety of bagels and cream cheese spread but I have to give this location 5 stars because of the friendly staff! If you’ve never gotten a chance to have the guy with the dreads take your order, you need to go again! He is always so friendly and has a GREAT sense of humor! Definitely the main reason I go there for bagels instead of anywhere else!!
One of my favorite places for breakfast in the morning. The bagels are fresh and delicious. Your food is made right in front of you in a speedy yet friendly conversational manner. People seem to like working there. I cant speak to the coffee flavor because I dont drink it but the ice tea is really good. Great place to meet if you sold something on a social media site which is why I was there.
Terrible experience. We came with a team that was extremely hungry and eager to spend money. The individual who approached our players at the door was extremely rude and inappropriate. There wasn’t a single person within the entire facility and no need for this disgusting experience. DO NOT GIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO THIS PLACE.
Loved this place. Ate here every morning that I was in Buffalo for Queen City Conquest. Great bagel selection with lots of options for what to put on them. Many shmear options as well as breakfast and sandwich toppings. My wife recommends the lox shmear. I loved the garlic and cheddar bagels.
They menu had some great choices. People were friendly. I ordered a Greek salad first there was much confusion over who was going to make it then over the price since a Ceasar with chicken was cheaper, which they quickly rectified. The salad had very little in it, I will go back but not order the same thing.
So rude old guy in the cashier.Probably manager.I am a regular customer.I just forgot my mask upon picking my order so i cover my face with thick layers of paper towel holding it with my left hand. He scolded me and said i wont entertain you without a mask on your face. But then he got my order ,gave it to me and said Dont ever come back here if you dont wear a mask..i said im sorry...other estabñishments will give you a mask if yiu forgot yours..but him..wow so rude..and YES I WILL NEVER EVER COME BACK EVER AGAIN. And will tell my friends to do the same.
We go to the Snyder location weekly. As any place you go there’s “always one” but with this place they get rid of The bad egg and replace them with someone worse. No customer service skills needed to work here. Instead of being greeted you are stared at. It’s like time stands still waiting for your breakfast. Even worse, when there is a line the manager has NO clue how to help and has a worse personality than the rest. We’re really gonna have to call it and start going elsewhere. Can’t keep having my Sunday mornings ruined by bad service. I would like to give a shout out to the guy with dreads though, he’s the only one keeping that place moving!
Just the best bagel shop in all of WNY. I had a tuna salad on onion bagel with Swiss, lettuce, tomato, red onion and mayo and it was delicious. Coffee and cinnamon stick bagel taken home for later. Very friendly service and classic deli atmosphere. Side room is more private and great for conversation or just sit and enjoy your meal and watch the world go by.
Ordered 1doz.and 1/2 since I had coupon told them 10:00 pic up they wanted positive time driving from jmst.Got there exactly 10 and ask girl if I could change my order to 1 fox.she said no and went back and bagged it.Cost was ridiculous with coupon and customer service very poor.
Awful service. We arrived around 11. Walked up to to counter where about 4 people were preparing food etc. Not one person said hello, but made eye contact multiple times while talking amongst themselves. Talk about awkward. A few minutes later someone finally acknowledged us and asked us what we wanted. We told them.About a few minutes later a different employee asked us to cash out. We had said we wanted coffee in addition to our order... to which we were rudely asked in addition to what?. I guess I was supposed to write down my own order? Guy made us feel like jerks and like we did something wrong as he stared at us.We also came with a promotional coupon for free coffee which, mind you, which was the reason we came in the first place. All over the store was another promotional offer for free coffee, so we were going to get two free coffees. Apparently, that wasnt cool with the guy taking our order. Again, made us feel like jerks for taking advantage of the offers IN the store. To top it all off. We forgot one of the items in our order, and when it was placed on the counter, the guy insinuated that we were trying to pull a fast one on him and get free food. Again, I guess come with a pad of paper and write down your own order if you plan on coming here. The most uncomfortable experience Ive ever had getting breakfast. Do not reccomend.
I had a very poor customer service experience at Jay’s this morning.First it was about 9:45 and not busy. I walked ip to the counter and placed an order for an egg and cheese on an onion bagel. After waiting longer than usual, the employee asked me what I I wanted on my “lochs”? I repeated the order. Then a few minutes later she asked me again what bagel type for the third time I gave her the order. I also told her that was the third time I had to tell her what the order was. She said it was because they were busy. I said well not really, very few people in here. No apology from anyone. Received a snarky “have a great day” bu another employee.Employee that waited on me was in ozone land. Also wittnessed a cash register error by different empmoyee while waiting in line tp pay.You guys are usually on the mark and I love coming to Jays. Just not a good ecperience today.
When it comes to breakfast sandwiches, I will always prefer non chain stores. Such as, Breadhive, undergrounds coffee house and Publics. My only complaint about this location is this. They are extremely slow as in service. So come here if you are reading, writing or brainstorming a new novel. You will have all sorts of time on your hands.
Somewhere between 3/4 stars. I cant give 4 but theyre definitely more than ok the bagels are good i just happen to be from long island so im pretty picky when looking for a bagel. Altho i do love that they make their own cream cheese flavors!!! Too many places have removed garden veggie cream cheese from the menu but not bagel jays! Thanks!!
Are you looking for crappy customer service and a nasty attitude from a Rastafarian Dude whose higher than a Kite then this is the place for you! We walked in at 10:15am not sure why I even stayed on the line after he yelled out... We are not making breakfast sandwiches or anything hot anymore today including toasted bagels... but my kids were hungry and my son had to get to work. Forget about me asking if they had any rainbow bagels.. I was scolded to read the menu. Really guy.. the word NO is much easier for your very limited vocabulary. And maybe if you laid off the ganja it wouldnt take you 15 minutes to slice 4 plain bagels with butter. Smdh
Tried to eat here today. The ‘OPEN’ sign was still on and it was a couple minutes after 5:00 and but the doors were locked and I knocked on the window and the employee shook her head no. It’s 5:09 right now and they just now turned their ‘OPEN’ sign off. That’s false advertisement. If the sign is on, you should serve your customers. Bad customer service of those sorry employees. I wouldn’t want them working for me!
So I used a few gift certificates to Bagel Jays, the man who took my order gave me what was probably the worst customer service I’ve ever gotten. I asked for a chicken salad bagel, he made me an egg salad bagel, I clarified that wasn’t what I ordered and he said “We’ll we are out of chicken salad” with an attitude. Then I thought “well I sometimes like egg salad sure why not” so I accepted the fact that he made me the egg salad. As I was using my gift certificate for a larger amount than what the total of my order was I asked him if I would be receiving the remainder of my gift certificate to use in a later date since I come here quite often. He said “no you don’t get change back.” And walked away. I was not given a warning not is it written on the gift certificate that they would take the rest of my money. Bagel Jays if you are making people spend money on gift certificates and then not allowing them to spend the Value of the gift certificate isn’t that...stealing? Also please train your employees to give better customer service, the way your employee spoke to me was not friendly or acceptable.

2022-04-11The bagels are very fresh (we saw a guy making them in the back) and the sandwiches are very delicious. The veggie cream cheese is very flavorful also. The staff are decent and not overall friendly but not rude either. The prices are a little expensive, a family of four spent $36 on 4 sandwiches and 4 drinks.

2022-05-29Excellent place. Only reason it did not receive five stars was because the prices have been jacked up considerably in the last year. Rendering else was great!Im not blaming them personally (not their fault), but it does take away from the overall experience.

2022-03-26What a letdown. Was up here from NYC and thought maybe this place would have a good bagel. Never got to find out. Waited in line for 20 mins and only 3 people were served. The service was so slow I left. Stay away!

2022-04-16Good location, easy to get in and out of. Service staff was friendly, bagels were delicious, and menu offerings were great too.Tried the JayNormous bagel sandwich. Sandwich tasted great, but tall & cumbersome to weild. Would recommend any of the meats on it (sausage, ham, bacon), but in a more managable size.

2022-06-24Jayden was amazing. Took great care of me. The food was fresh. When it came time to check out, no on was on the register and Izzy gave me an attitude saying someone will be there. But she continued to stand there and pretend to be busy. Customer service was severely lacking from one employee. But Jayden stepped up!

2022-06-27If you have food allergies this is not the place for you. Cross contamination is huge. Sadly - as I was really looking forward to having their bagels.

2021-11-14Ive been going to Bagel Jays for years. Although Ive not been a fan of the new system, where you order your food and immediately have to pay so you cant see how they are preparing it, (because they make you immediately pay and wait) the food is usually decent.A few weeks ago I went in and ordered food for 5 people to go, only to find they screwed up 3/5 of the bagel orders when I got home. It happens I get it.Figured Id try again today. My daughter and I went in there this morning to order 5 bagel sandwiches. We happened to be both drinking Starbucks we had just purchased before going to get our familys bagel sandwiches our Sunday morning treat. Some older guy behind the counter (whom Ive never seen there before), went out of his way to shout at us you cant bring those coffees in here. My response, really? Drinking Starbucks while waiting in line to make an $80 order was somehow going to hurt their business? This is a bagel place not a coffee shop.We left without food and Im never going back. I guess they can afford to throw away loyal customers business.Ive never been treated so rudely.Wish there was another choice for bagel sandwiches in Buffalo, to put Bagel Jays out of business.

2022-05-16Expensive, small portions, took my order weirdly, friendly staff. Maybe I’m too used to nyc delis. Very disappointedAlso they don’t have Hero’s? WeirdEdit (response):Why should it be mandatory to look at portions online? If I show up to a bagel shop and ask for something on hero bread and the response I get is Sorry, this isnt a greek place (confusing heros with gyro) then the place is not up to par. I wish you and your business the best.$14 for a bagel with lettuce tomato and turkey? I pay $5 for that in nyc - we are in Buffalo! Your business is a scam and your customers are sheep. Id rather go to Yings (and thats saying a lot).
