Since the pandemic started Baisley Pond park is my go to park for running and walking. Always clean. There is a restroom and kids play area. Tennis, basketball and handball courts. Cricket field and baseball field. People are respectful and keep their distance on the paths. Lots of benches to sit on around the pond. Great for walking, biking, running, picining, bbq and fishing. If u want company/motivation to run/walk NYRR (New York Road Runners) has a meet up on Saturday mornings for run/walks whether a beginner walker or long time runner. The longer outer loop of the park is about 1.75 miles and a shorter inner loop of maybe 1.25 miles
Has a very nice view of the pond .and a nice bike trail for bike riding, or walking or jogging. And and a baseball ball field, also a large cricket field. With a nice area to barbecue, plus it has such a Beautiful scenery in the summer, and fall with the Beautiful leaf colors .The winter time alike, with a really nice snow view. The pond looks Beautiful in the summer and winter. Remember never try to ice skate on the pond in the winter time with the pond frozen.
How I have grown to enjoy this park. ⚘🌴🌹🌳🌹🌺 Its quite, peaceful, and a beautiful sight to behold. The people who live in this oasis👨👩👧 hopefully enjoy it as much as I love coming by to give my mind a breather. Love the greenery and view!! 😃😊😀 The greenery is everywhere and the trees look strong and stunning. The water always looks as if at peace but is never quite still. Maybe its the lighting that gives one the majestic sense that we are far away from the daily duties imposed upon us 😅😆. Its a picture promising more from nature. I took as many pics of its beauty since I am quite sure that most of the pictures available for this site are taken during the day time. There are no trains here and the distance seems to be just out of reach of the sounds of airplanes and heavy traffic. Great place to pause.😎
I was coordinating a headshot/promo shoot and decided on here since it seemed peaceful enough and stated that there was a garden. The garden was only that in name, but if cared for, it would be a beautiful little oasis. It was much larger than I thought from passing it a couple of times, and had a nice walk around the perimeter. It seemed to be great for jogging, so t made me wish that I lived just a stones throw away. There was also a cricket match going on, various family gatherings, and multiple bridal parties taking pictures by the pond. Its worth checking out, especially on a nice summer day.
This place is quite serene in an otherwise not at all serene setting. The pond is full of lotus or reeds or plants and definitely could use some maintenance because theres barely any open water but its beautiful. Theres lot of space to run and play but you cant help but overhear what sounds like constant gunshots but its really boy racers around the park doing their races and such. Really sucks that you cant enjoy the park without that noise but at least its pretty and the kids dont seem to mind.
A beautiful but not so hidden treasure in Queens. Ducks, turtles, fish, a wedding party & a very diverse group of not just animals but people as well. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because the water had a little bit too much garbage in it so Parks Dept. PLEASE give it a cleaning for those precious animals!!!!!! Otherwise if you havent yet been go experience it for yourself & have a wonderful time.
I was born in South Ozone Park Queens.Baisley park was my familys favorite place to go. You can play baseball and basketball and tennis. When I grew up with my own family I took my children there. There are areas to picnic and barbecue. You need some fun and relaxation check this park. Its big . Youll get a good night sleep after walking around the park.I did.
This Park is absolutely amazing, its a great place to take the family, and friends. There is a beautiful pond, with ducks, and geese. Now who would believe that, well its true. Theres plenty of activities to keep the kids, and adults busy. Basketball courts, Softball, trails for runners and walkers. Bring your own tables and chairs, also the barbecue. I almost forgot theres even a field for Cricket players. Make sure you visit this great Park this summer.
I took my dog there so he could run around off leash. Im not sure if that is allowed, but we did it. He loved it! At 50° he even went into the pond to chase the swans and ducks--never got close, bit he enjoyed it. Other dogs are sometimes skiddish around other dogs so owners may ask you to leash your dog and walk really far around. The only issue was some people are afraid of dogs and will ask you to put the leash back on. I use a remote beeping sound to call him back so he never gets close to anyone else. It has a play area for kids. I dont remember seeing picnic areas. Otherwise its a really nice par to walk your dog.
I love this park I grew up here and to come back and see how beautiful its truly became is wonderful. Id just love to see the vegetation to be trimmed more in the water a lot of empty metal barrels engulfed in vegetation. But all in all great with even more great potential.
Easily one of my favorite parks in Jamaica Queens in the summer time. From the Track, The Lake, The playground, and the football field this place is wonderful. I meditate during they day in the park during my days off while the school kids are inside from the hours of 11am to 12pm in the spring. And I run on the track right after from 1pm to 2pm. The park is always kept clean and tidy and the park staff is always trying to keep the park at its best! Its a wonderful time whenever Im here.
This park is great for picnics as its reasonably quieter than some of the bigger city parks. You can walk, bike, skate, etc around the pond if you want and there are large grassy areas to play catch or whatever youd like. Some picnic tables are available but they go quick on a busy weekend. There are clean public restrooms as well as a playground/splash pad for the kids. The playground is in direct sunlight so if you go on a hot day sometimes its too hot for the kids to play on but they can still run through the water. Its also conveniently located with corner stores, etc within walking distance so you can grab a drink, snack, or anything small you may have forgotten for your picnic. There is a free parking lot too!
This was my childhood park and as an adult, remains a regular spot to work out for me. Its overall, pretty well maintained, for example, the basketball and tennis courts were recently redone and for the lost part, not a great deal of litter is found here. Its large and overall, is a great outdoor space utilized by many.
During the summer time I wish the Parks dept would cut the weeds sooner. They grow really long most times. During winter, its very nice cause the pond is frozen. Geese are always about so bring some bread to feed them. Serene and peaceful. I see some dads with their kids and fishing rods, nice, but you really shouldnt eat the fish, just throw them back in. :)
It is a great place for a picnic, family fun or exercise. The pond is filled with turtles. The only problem is, the pond is filled with trash and wants a proper cleaning. People have thrown their trash, plastic bags, metal containers and so on in it. This needs to stop. Plus people feed the turtles random, unhealthy foods. Save the turtles, save nature!!
Four stars for uncertainty as this was my first visit for a few minutes to this Park. However from what Ive seen and felt it may earn five stars after my second and longer visit, which I plan to do soon. I did not observe police officers nor vehicles in the immediate as read, which may mean security is not needed. That would be a good thing.
This park is pretty big. Bike/ jogging path available. The pond is pretty relaxing. On weekends they have cricket matches further down by the Rockaway Blvd. entrance and places to picnic/ bbq on the opposite end. This is where youll find a kiddie park with a sprinkler.
I grew up playing in Baisley Pond Park. My memories are quiet vivid as I recently watched home video taken as a child. The park has been restored and is very nice to walk in. Many families come out in the evening and bring their children. There are several benches to rest and two small parks for the kids to play. The park is a vital part of the community and I look forward to the many events being sponsored there this summer!
Its a clean environment. Fun to ride bikes with families, have a picnic, use the mini park for kids, sit and watch the sunset near the pond. Its a relaxing and friendly scenery. During the summer theres usually many families here just enjoying themselves. I recommend that you visit.
Are you kidding me?Its a beautiful place to go for meditation even taking aRomantic walk I love the swansDucks and sometimes I see pretty fish and turtles. The frogs statues remind me of the countrysideYou know what I like most isThe beautiful sunsetWho doesnt like scenes like this?I enjoy the guys playing basket ball and cricket and the little ones even me swinging on the swingsAs for me I dont need to watch television I can see every. Scene outHere the schools are also nearby andAnd if you are too hot in your apartments you can get pure oxygen relaxing on the bench
Its a nice little Park for a little jog for walking your dog... around 2 this kids from the schools across the street that come in and they hang out there. But around 6 and after its a peaceful Park... that is a kids park for the little ones to play in... on Saturday mornings and Sunday mornings you can always catch a game of cricket. Which is always nice to sit down and watch a game.
Beautiful gem... They have many things to do in the summer for the kids like movie night under the stars.... The lake is absolutely stunning and a great healthy walk... I would say go to Rockaway Fish House near to there for some great soul food and have a picnic in the park.... Great date night
Very clean park but the maintenance isnt great and the area around the pond is unruly with high weeds and you can barely see the pond or ducks that sometimes come there. The pond is very dirty with garbage in it so I believe the parks department needs to fix up that park better
What a great neighborhood pond. Its a large pond (masquerading as a small lake by its looks) Smile. Enjoyed seeing the variety of ethnicities and cultures enjoying the space. From volleyball to cricket to basketball and baseball and soccer: from Caribbean cultures to Latin American cultures and Middle Eastern cultures and so on. A great mix of cultures using this shared space!
Great for taking a walk around the pond thats there or cycling around it. The staff and faculty from August Martin high school across the street park their vehicles there during school hours so the best time to go would be before or after school is in session. JFK international airport is only three miles away and this park is a welcome oasis in such a busy area.
It is very nice park surrounding by a very big pond. It is in the South Jamaica, Queens. Birds fly on the pond. Very nice breeze weather by the pond. Riding bike is a good option. Some people like to have picnic in the park. Water in the pond seemed to be clean. A very different natural view in the city life.
My neice and I stayed near this park whilst on holiday 5 years ago, I went for a walk one Sunday and happened upon this park by chance, there was people playing basketball, softball, kids playing American football, people on the running track and to my total surprise a game of cricket being played too, albeit rather unorthodox because the bowlers were bowling underarm because of the state of the batting strip, and even though I was the only white person (I never saw anyone else) I never once felt uneasy or threatened, I was even wearing my England t-shirt bearing the flag of Saint George, in the hour or so I strolled through the park all I saw was families enjoying the early afternoon sun and having fun, I must visit there again if Im ever in Queens again
While walking in this park I sat down and noticed a memorial section where names of friends and family are attached onto the benches where people can sit down and enjoy the peace and quiet at this park. There is peace at this place but something is missing...we dont like When friends and family names are just on a bench chair we want a Face and names along with the memories of loved ones so I think we now can give them there own website called Facesbyplaces.com . In memory of those we loved lets keep the legacies alive with a Name ,Face and Place..... Coming soon. ...Mom I love you always...
Its a beautiful place but you have to be careful of men taking a leak because they see you gung to your car. Sone sick men out there. Even if you are in the car some people are fearless. The scenery is awesome fullfilling and energizing.. But be weary of yourself always.

2022-05-14The weeds are high all over the park. Even around the kids playground and bench seats. Garbage bags are just sitting out. The pond has green plant covering most of it. No reason this place looks so unkept. Alley pond park, Cunningham park, Roy Wilkins Park do not look like this. They need to do a better job at keeping the gras low. Kids were playing in weeds.

2022-06-10Wasnt crowded and their was a DJ for the BBQ that was going on not to far from us. Some of the weeds and grass was a little over grown around the pond. But not to bad. Oh, and bring along plenty of insect repellent. You already know!It was formed in the 18th century, when local farmers dammed three streams to power a grain mill. It was named for David Baisley, a farmer who owned the mill in the early 19th century.

2022-06-09Lovely park. The pond is so serene. I ride my bike, walk or just sit and people watch. NYC Parks Dept. employees have it rough. People are just nasty leaving trash everywhere.

2021-08-16PROS: This park has always been special. There are a few different wildlife species that call this park home. Ducks, turtles, swans, fish frogs... Very nice place to have picnic, barbeque, family gathering, play sports, take photos, exercise or just sit and read.CONS: The water in the pond needs to be cleaned ever so often. Due to some peoples lack of care/love/respect for nature and their environment, they dump their garbage in the water. This garbage affects the wildlife that uses the water. Maybe if the parks department provided more garbage bins and posted signs to educate the people about the animals that share the park with them or possibly cameras, it would deter people from being so selfish and nasty. Also the tennis court, handball court and basketball court needs an upgrade. The bathroom facilities could use some attention too.

2021-09-07My daughters guitar instructor suggested having a lesson at this park. It was a beautiful atmosphere and she enjoyed being able to have her lesson here after having several months of lessons virtually. Plus I was able to take my son just a few steps away to play in the playground while she focused on her lesson.

2021-03-23This is such a beautiful park. Its quite had plenty of places to sit, relax and enjoy the serene environment. The ducks and swans were calm and had no fear when we came close to them which is a good sign. Lets make sure we do our best to keep our parks and the water clean.

2022-05-17It is a good lake to see. There are lots of ducks to see and feed. Theres this big white swan that is beautiful to see. Heres the problem, For kids, there is no barrier from kids FROM FALLING INTO THE LAKE. Also, The lake is way big and wide. Heres the big warning, Someone could slip into the lake. So I wish that the lake had a barrier to protect people from falling in the lake.

2022-07-04Beautiful Clean Park with Night Lights for Sport Events and Cultural Events. Many People from different countries celebrate for example their Independence Day or Fund Raisers for great causes as well. Public Bathrooms are also available. Baisley Bond Park is truly a Treasure in the Borough of Queens, New York.
