Worked at Camp Baiting Hollow as a nature counselor in 1968! Extremely happy to hear that the camp is still operating! Feared that the land would have been sold years ago for a quick buck by Suffolk County Council! Glad to see that wiser heads have prevailed! This camp has become a legacy to be passed on for generations! May many more generations of Scouts enjoy this wonderful camp!

2018-06-12This is a really nice place to visit for the scouts theres a lot of things to do, is a lake on one side the Long Island Sound any other. Is an archery range, shooting range and a rock climbing tower seems like a really good place to go camping for the weekend. The ground seem like they are taken care of

2020-06-11My son and I camped at BHSC for a week about 20 years ago now, along with our local troop, Mike the scout master, and myself serving as assistant scout master, alongside a few other dads with the same title. We usually rented 2/ 15 passenger vans and drove 11 hours to the Adirondacks Upstate New York every year. What a treat Baiting Hollow was being 30 mins from home! The Camp has a very unique topography for Long Island too. The elevation of this relatively small area compared to the rest of the Island thats flat, left me awestruck. Its one of the highest points, or THE highest point, on Long Island. Once you turn into the entrance, immediately your overwhelmed by out-of-place scenery that looks like the mountains. Tall, old evergreen trees surround the entrance & parking areas. The hiking trails, some almost too steep to climb, lead to the camp sites. Then by continuing north downhill toward sea level the forest suddenly becomes sand dunes with incredible views of Long Island Sound and Connecticuts coast line.I highly recommend this Boy Scout Camp, but book early theres usually a waiting list.

2020-09-19I worked on the staff at Camp Baiting Hollow in 1965 & 1966. I really enjoyed my experience there. I lived and still live in WV. I never have been back but remember my time and think of the camp experience a lot.

2018-03-26The staff does an excellent job throughout the year making memorable experiences for the scouts and their families. Grounds are very nice and there are many activities to choose from daily. Wish they had shotgun/rifle on site but that may be a permit issue. We will be going back for years to come!
