Ive been here multiple times. The food was always extremely flavorfull and tasty. Most times the services are quite large and I would have to take it home. Drinks always sounded unique and tasty-- if I ever had one though it was not memorable. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for mexican in the area. Especially great during the summer as they are able to completely open the front and get fresh air.
Lively but not overly loud. Shapely hostess. Friendly younger waiters. EVERY tequila manufactured is available, I believe, from blancos, reposados, añejos and mixtos. Food came fast and was delicious with good presentation. Tacos in soft or hard shell. Clean bathrooms. Nice Mexicanized décor and several beers on tap.
Popped in on a Wednesday evening. We had intended to go for restaurant week, but decided on the regular menu instead. To start, we did the cheese fundido, and let me tell you friends, this was straight up cheese heaven. It was essentially a queso, but in the way that a Cadillac is just a car. It was incredibly creamy, with a silky texture. The chips were a little thicker than a regular tortilla chip, allowing you to scoop lakes of the fundido on to your chip and waterfall it into your mouth. I even started hunting for chips with air bubbles to allow me to fill that beautiful bubble with cheese. It was a straight up cheese waterpark at our table, and i know everyone else staring was just jealous. After that, i had chosen 3 tacos - buffalo calamari, shrimp, and something else that I dont remember because a cheese coma had started to kick it. My friend got a sampler platter of some kind that i vaguley remember him saying was really good as i slipped away into a cheesy dream.
Food was EXCELLENT! and service was great! Everyone that walked by helped. Questions were answered by friendly hosts. Ambiance and decor was awesome. Very open air, good vibes. Over 150 different Tequilas if thats your thing but plenty of other very well made drinks if its not. Wasnt too hard to find on street parking but there was parking behind I believe. We ordered buffalo calamari quesadillas (so unique), street corn, maduros, yuca fries and tacos! All soooo tasty! Highly recommend!
Moved to the neighborhood not so long ago so thought of trying out this place, food was alright, had to flag the server down a few times for service, unattentive, wasnt as busy or popping. Decor is kinda dated for the prices. Expensive for a mexican/taco place. I would recommend some other bar/eating joint, money better spent somewhere else.
Located Right on amazing Main St in Beacon. Love the wide open entrance! Just walk Right in. Every where in the world is short staffed right now and this place is no exception but what little staff they had was a phenomenal team. Atmosphere is exciting. The bar is a solid wall of tequilas! Food very tasty with interesting new twists on old favorites. Will definitely be back!
Our server was NIck. Nick was very attentive and professional. Everyone that we interacted with was pleasant and courteous. The service alone was highly above par. The food was very fresh and tasteful. The portions were extremely generous for the prices charged. Even the atmosphere of the restaurant was very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for southwestern food while in Beacon. Cant say enough about how good it was!!!!!!
Bruh. This food was so bland, it’s insane. I got the Baja combo and the tacos were flavorless, the quesadilla barely had shrimp and taste like something made in a microwave.I also got the wings that had noooooo seasoning whatsoever. Honestly, I know the look of the place is nice and all but we’re here for good food and this is not it.
Tasty food, excellent portion sizes, fantastic service. We had a party of 10 show up right when they opened, they got us seated and served very quickly, it was no issues with any of our orders, and we were quite satisfied with the meals we received. I went here once before on a work trip and I was satisfied with them then as well. I did not have any of their drinks as I am not a big drinker, and I was there at 11:00 in the morning so even if I did have something, I wouldnt be drinking that early in the day, but Ive had friends tell me that their drinks are excellent as well. Its very easy to recommend them for a nice place to go out
Great place for casual meals and especially drinks. A variety of Mexican dishes reasonably priced for a sit down meal. Our group was full from ordering several appetizers and sharing. Just wished there was a little ambient music to set the mood. Nachos with shrimp...yum Also fried plantains, calamari and wings with the hot sauce rocked!
Very nice service but the food is definitely not t he best Mexican food as someone here wrote. The chips are old, the guac is tasteless, the burrito just not how you serve a real Mexican burrito. Overpriced, too. But the tequila selection is superb. We will not return for dinner but can stop by for drinks.
If you are in town just visiting or came for a hike, this is the place you need to come to recharge. The vibe on this place plus how diverse the menu is, its the best combination to have a great time. Make sure to ask the waitress about the size of the meal you are interested in because they are BIG even for 2 person, But the are delicious.
So where do I start. So I am big on st. corn and this was hands down the best. So the break down from here. Yuca friea a must, shrimp taco hella great. Taco sald with ground beef was rate great and it is huge. The Barcbara(sorry for spelling) was rate hella great. These orders where very fulling and exceptional flavorful. The one thing we all agreed on was the tacos themselves should be pan warmed a little more for our likings. Overall thumbs up.
I dont get why people enjoy this place, it shouldnt even be called a Mexican restaurant. The enchiladas was just a gloppy mess of cheese and mole sauce. The beans tasted like Bushs honey baked beans from a can, it didnt even taste like they made an effort to make it themselves. The drink were watered down and the garnishing that they placed in the drinks were rotten.
I decided to stop by this place last year and wasn’t sure what to order. I asked the waiter for recommendations and he suggested the tacos. I didn’t think they would be as good as they were nor authentically Mexican. They have classic Mexican meats like barbacoa which is not usually found in American owned business unless you go to NYC. I went back this week with my parents and they were just as good as the first time. We also ordered the churros and they give you ice cream on the side and it’s a sublime combination..
Delicious. I enjoyed my margaritas, the wings with the honey Chipotle sauce (I will tell you to dunk the wings through the sauce on the plate) and my three tacos. The tacos are expensive but big and full of toppings. I would cross the NB bridge any day to eat there again.
Weve been to this place a few times .I ordered the tacos this time and was disappointed. There was very little meat inside them as well as other toppings, they were also so soggy that I needed a spoon to eat them. (Maybe the cook was rushed and didnt realize) the rest of what we ordered was great. We also ordered 3 margaritas for take out and they were fantastic. We will definitely be returning to try other menu items. Also the staff if very organized and friendly.
Excellent wait service!! Our waiter immediately switched tables when he realized the table was unsteady!! My rice bowl entree was well seasoned & flavorful. Drinks were great as well!! The mixed crowd of varying ages include couples; girls night out and guys at bar...good vibes!
This is an ABC place. A for the food. It really was very good and reasonably priced. B for the service. Yes, we went on a busy weekend night but our waitress was slow and seemed lackadaisical about everything. C for the drinks. I know it boasts all these different types of tequila and margaritas BUT I had a basic( and believe me it was basic)margarita and it was $12. You can get better ones and bigger ones almost anywhere. Really not happy about that. That was our one and done trip to this joint.
A really pleasant experience given the other times we were there. The bartender, Adam was a really competent and attentive young man who clearly took pride in his craft. My wife and I split the Empanadas appetizer and they were outstanding. This was by far the best visit we have had here and it seems like they are trending upward. Absolutely worth a visit!
Over this place. If you want soggy food order from here! Seriously, third time I’ve ordered from here on doordash and received food that broke apart. I don’t see why you can’t drain the meat or put the meat on the side with the shells. When I called 5 minutes after ordering I was told it was too late to request this.
I had a bad experience here. The hostess put my daughter and I all the way to the back passed a lot of empty tables and places us where the bathrooms are.I asked someone if we can move they were very rude.on top of all of that the tables started to fill up I was the first one there and received my food last. On top of that the food wasn’t that great. I will not be patronizing this business again.
Its a nice atmosphere. But service was terrible! Im not stupid I know what the server was doing, either they forgot to put our food order in or they were stalling so we ordered more drinks! I wonder if our first drink order was non alcoholic if the food wouldve taken so long.... either way the place was NOT busy and it took nearly an hour to get our food. To top it off they brought my appetizer out with my main dish. Will not be going back... what a joke.
Service was awful. We waited 20 minutes for 2 cokes. And even longer for appetizers, which we had to ask another server about. She was great and acknowledged that George was basically ignoring us and went and brought out our food and appetizer at the same time. Later I had to find another server just to pay the bill. I do not recommend going here and the good definitely wasnt worth all the hassle.
This was a huge disappointment. We got the chips and salsa...which was really pico. It was bland, the chips were store bought, unseasoned, not even warm. We had a bus boy take them away for us. They brought us the wrong food then finally corrected it. The waitress made some excuse and asked if we wanted hot sauce. We said yes then waited 10 minutes for her to come back with it. She didn’t. My husband didn’t eat one of the tacos because he said it tasted like dog food. We eat A LOT of Mexican food and this was by far the worst place we’ve ever been too. If you go there, maybe just stick to the booze? We didn’t drink but maybe being inebriated will help ease the awfulness of this culinary experience.
Very friendly staff, good food. Had my 1st watermelon margarita and loved it.Thank you,Im gonna have to fall back in there..wink.lolBack again a week later an my sweet kameal welcomed me like I was her family. Let me remind you she makes an awesome watermelon margarita..... but its really the love you feel from her service that makes you wanna keep coming back..See you next week my love
Very disappointed in my experience. My fiance learned about it from the Hudson valley restaurant month they have in s magazine. The place looked great, but the wait to order, and be served was ridiculous. Ive never had food take so long, and there was maybe two tables when we arrived. The chips and salsa were store bought and not good. Both of our meals were underwhelming, and my shrimp was overcooked. We will not be going back. Plus its pricey.
Was great. Food was , or would have been amazing. Waitress was fake and not good at her job. We had told her we had not been there and not sure of the menu. We ordered nachos and it came with just melted cheese on chips and nothing else. When i asked where everything else is , and its free to add , she said oh you have to tell me. I said I would have not realized it and she said oh walked away and was basically rude the rest if the night.
This place was a blast. Atmosphere was wonderful and the food was spectacular. Service was perfect. Please have the nachos and for the main course my fav were the Ahi tuna taco, calamari taco and the spare ribs. They have a wonderful list of drinks. Must stop if youre in Beacon.
I have visited this place few times already. The food has been very good, drinks relatively reasonable (price vs size vs liquor ratio) and it has a very inviting atmosphere. I was slightly disappointed by the fact that they have tacos in the menu but dont give the option to have lettuce instead of tortilla. So if youre trying to watch your diet, not many choices in the menu for you.
Baja has decent food - some of it is rather sparse (like the tacos) and others you have no hope of finishing (like the enchiladas). They do have an expansive drink menu and youll be able to find something you like, though it is priced ludicrously because its in Beacon ($11 for a small classic margarita). If youre into something Mexican-flavored, then go for it. If youre really craving Mexican food and want a proper meal, probably look elsewhere out of town. The guacamole is absolutely delicious though.
Friendly staff. Fresh ingredients for the drinks. Nice selection of tequilas. (Tequila bar pricing.) Didnt try the food, but other patrons were enjoying it. Only negative would be the amount of bees flying around. An open door for seating means some flies... but they need to do something about the bees. I am sure its not a problem in the winter.
It started with the wings, just not good. My wife got a rice bowl with short ribs, the short ribs tasted like it came out of a crock pot and there werent any vegetables in the vegetable rice bowl. I got 3 tacos, pork belly, shrimp and scallops. The only one that was good was the shrimp taco. I couldnt tastes the pork belly and the scallop was so fishyI thought it would make me sick if I ate it. Never go back there again.
........well the food was good the cocktails were good UNTIL I saw the chef go from the bathroom without taking off his apron and go right back to work in the kitchen . HOW GROSS AND UNSANITARY!!! When I brought it up to another employee she brushed it off like NOTHING. I left. Goodluck
Seriously, this is one of my favorite places to go in Beacon. This place is clean, decor is hip, and above all, the food is great. Im a huge fan of the cucumber jalapeno margarita. They also have great specials which I usually pull the trigger on because whoever is in that kitchen is creative and knows what theyre doing.
Stepped inside and requested a table outside to which the hostess replied: The only table available is the small one curbside. (Their was a larger unoccupied table closer to the building)So we sat and as we were eating we noticed another couple approach as the gentlemen inquired about the table we were denied. A host replied:We just tell certain people its reserved but youre both welcome to sit there.Conclusion..Well never, ever return to this establishment ever again.
“To go” drinks are deeply overpriced. We paid $80 for two “pitchers” which barely amounted to 6 drinks. That’s more than city prices for to go.Pick up process is a mess - they have 1 person answering the phone, boxing food, and making drinks? How is one person meant to do the job of 3?
Good staff. Mediocre, overpriced food.I ordered 3 tacos for $14, 2 chopped meat, one steak. They came on rack with nothing else, not the usual refried beans and rices that come with that menu item at most Mexican restaurants. They were not significantly better than what one could get at Taco Bell for a buck each.Noone in my party of 6 was impressed by their meal. Aside from me, it got 3 so-sos and a thumbs down. But the waiter was attentive and friendly at least.
Wound up in Beacon by mistake on St. Pattys Day, and stopped by Baja to grab a bite. They had an awesome St. Pattys menu, and EVERYTHING was great: Irish nachos, corned beef and cabbage quesadillas, Shepards pie bowl, and THE BEST Mexican Street corn Ive ever tasted!! Awesome tequila menu, great margaritas, and cool vibe. Would definitely go again.
I came on the debut of their brunch and was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was. I got the loaded home fries which came in a sizzling hot skillet. This beast was loaded with bacon, chorizo, peppers, cheese and onions. Really tasty. My girlfriend got the shrimp and chorizo grits which were equally as tasty. Giving it only 4 stars because I decided to be adventurous and try the bajarita cocktail which was a big mistake - really sweet and honestly pretty gross tasting. Otherwise an overall great spot to eat and drink in Beacon.
Wish I got to taste the food! The hostess never sat us after we put our name in. We waited over an hour before deciding to go elsewhere. Her response when we asked how long was it hasnt changed. She said shed call when ready, its now three hours later and still nothing. Terrible service!!!
Weve been here before and always when it is not busy, intentionally. A lot of the time it is crowded with young drunk guys with backwards baseball caps who like to stare at actual grown women in a creepy bro way. There is at times an air of desperation and cheap cologne hovering around it, which is fine. That being said the food and drinks were also just fine. Passable. Nothing to write home about. The last time however, our inattentive server put all the rusty dried up lettuce and discolored tomato pieces we had exhaustively taken off our plates and put to the side in the to-go styrofoam clamshell we brought home. Kind of missed the point there as we were too polite to point out someone in the BOH saw these fetid items and put them on our plates anyway! Wake up! Hello? Had to ask for napkins and cutlery, refills of water, generally disconcerting for a light night with only a couple tables occupied. Total hit or miss. My firm belief is that our server was out of training for their first job ever other than sitting desk at the junior college student union playing some dumb game on their phone... otherwise fine, just fine.
Great place to eat and drink great food and drink i had the steak and mushroom quesadillas mmmmmmmmand a loaded bloody mary with a piece of bacon and olives sooo good nice place to go after visiting the waterfront in any of the nearby river towns we came from the cold spring river front park quant village with lots of antique stores cafes etc beautiful view of the river and the mts

2021-09-12Great food, drink and atmosphere. staff is on point. Not too crazy about the outdoor seating so close to the road...we managed to get seating closest to the door. The hostess was clearly overwhelmed but she kept it together, greated everyone with a smile. We had steak aside with mash potatoes and veggies. It was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection.

2022-04-24Fun spot if you’re in beacon for the day. It’s southwest style bar food not authentic Mexican so don’t go in with the wrong expectations. Food was flavorful and, not sure what the bad reviews were saying…not spicy more of a chipotle or mesquite flavors. Service was solid for a Sunday spring lunch. I wasn’t a fan of the cocktails but the tequila selection was bar none. The front of the restaurant was open and we got a seat so it was perfect for a sunny spring day in Beacon. Kudos

2021-11-14After a long day of hiking, this place looked interesting and it delivered. Michael was a great server too, gave us a lot of suggestions. Calamari, tacos and even cheese steak was delicious. Drinks were top notch

2022-05-14Nice portions, a little loud. Open air setup. The margheritas looked very specialized, but I was driving. Taco salad needed a dressing...

2022-01-28Pretty good guacamole! But it definitely needs some jalapeñoUnfortunately nothing else we ordered tasted to too good. Al pastor is very dry and bland and tortillas taste and feel like paper towels.
