NEPAL 🇳🇵Eat the World NYC review:After spending the last 40 years expanding throughout Kathmandu and the country of Nepal, beloved chain Bajeko Sekuwa has launched their first international location in Sunnyside, Queens. What used to be an illegal grill near the airport where passengers would grab meat on a stick before getting on a flight is now a sleek restaurant with excellent food.°The first visit here was alone and did not get to cover much, but the preliminary report is extremely positive. The namesake dish is outstanding, something New York City does not have a lot of, and other Himalayan classics are taken care of very nicely. The man who brought out the chicken jhol momos claimed they were the best in the country, and really I had no argument after enjoying them.
I am really disappointed with new management. It used to be one of my favorite place to have my lunch and dinner with my friends and family but due to recent changes in the management I stopped going there and be a part of it. The new management is bit rude and tell lies about the food ingredients which taste different then what he actually said. No more recommendations about this place for my friends and families.
My experience this time is super disappointing, the place was not clean, the utensils were not clean: and the worse, food was not good. We were there two years back and we were super excited this time but came back with regrets. I can’t imagine going back there again!! I feel sad to write this but seems it’s just a truth.
Quite possibly my top 3 fave restaurants. Stumbled across it by surprise and we were immediately impressed with the authentic flavour. You can tell each dish is made fresh and is packed with balanced ingredients, both Nepalese and Indian. This place blitzs any local Indian place for its food flavour, e.g. Saffron Garden which was a complete disappointment.Weve been back here many times already!
You all! Stop what you’re doing and go. I was visiting a ton before the pandemic and hadn’t had a chance since. Was so nice to be back. I think a lot of people pass this place on the street because the windows aren’t very big to easy to miss. It’s actually huge inside. Massive bar menu and great space for large groups. Oh, and the server remembered my most often ordered drink and food order. Am I that predictable?! In all seriousness I have ordered many things fr there because it’s all gooood.
The food we ate was really great! We ordered the chicken lollipops, garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, and chana masala. The only annoyance was that they sat a group next to us when the whole restaurant was empty. It just didnt make sense when we are still in a pandemic.
Never ever had such an amazing and delicious food before🥰 Id been waiting to go there since long to have authentic nepali dishes, finally we checked in, all the surrounding and the decorations reminded me to our typical cuisine, amazing and friendly staffs. I highly recommend this restaurant to visit, Im sure your first visit will the your life time experience.we ordered lots of things like nepali khaja set, jhol momos, sadheko goat, goat chhoila, thukpa, bhuteko pangra and so on 🥰🥰 my gosh every single things we ordered was lucious we really enjoyed and will definitely go there next time as well🙏🙏
This is my first time trying this restaurant. I was quite hesitant because all Nepalese restaurants seem to have similarity with middle to low grade standard both food, service, and cleanliness. After my experience here, I cannot wait to share that Bajeko Sekuwa has indeed topped the list in every aspect. Food was great! Clean and service was great too. I cannot wait for my second visit there.
Good service but understaffed - I will give them a benefit of doubt for the covid must have made the situation worse, but food were not as top notched as I remember. Kudos to 2 server who were ruling the floor by themselves.I wish the drinks were better - it was bland!
Service was excellent. The manager explained to our group exactly what everything was since Himalayan was an unfamiliar cuisine to us. Loved the rice puff and pounded rice that came along with most of the dishes and their dumplings were by far the best. It was meaty, fully stuffed inside with a nice thin yet al-dent skin. Also it was beautiful wrapped.
I have been to Bajeko Sekuwa multiple times and they always excel in delivering high quality and authentic Nepali food. Everything here is worth eating - Biryani, Dal bhaat, momos. My absolute favorite is dal bhaaat. Real authentic flavors straight from the Himalayas. Service is equally excellent and they are very attentive towards their customers. Their outdoor dining service during this pandemic is excellent and they follow all safety precautions.
The customer service was AMAZING. The food was SCRUMPTIOUS. The prices were AFFORDABLE. We been here few times. Yesterday We had chicken Sekuwa, Lamb Chops, Goat Biryani, Garlic Naan and few drinks. We love eating out, We been Many places, Nepalese and Indian Restaurant even in Manhattan but food here is the Best. Always fresh and good quality from rice to bread. I don’t mind to pay for this kind of Food and service we will go back again and highly recommended...
The food here was phenomenal. I could really taste all the complex spices and the meat was so tender. The service was also exceptional; we felt incredibly valued as the waitstaff were highly attentive. Being unfamiliar with the cuisine, they offered genuine suggestions for what we should try. I was really impressed with the attention to detail and presentation of the food and drinks.I was disappointed that this restaurant ticked so many boxes, yet had TVs running in the background. That really cheapened the experience of quality and diminished the ambiance.
We had Bajeko Sewuka as our caterer for both of our events, wedding and reception a month ago. Even though we had booked our venue that fully catered the food; we decided to have Nepalese food as the main course to be provided by Bajeko Sekuwa and we are so glad that we made that choice. Everything went so well and everyone loved the food. The spice level was exactly how we wanted. We chose this restaurant knowing their quality of services they provide. We are also one of their regular customers who LOVE their food. Not only the food was good, they went above and beyond making sure that the services provided was of top notch. The chef and owner himself visited the venue to make sure of things prior to the wedding. Mr. Manoj, the manager and Binod( our favorite server) from the restaurant were amazing. I kept on making changes in between, but they were very accommodating and did not complain even once. I can not thank them enough for taking care of our guests like their own for both the events. I highly recommend this place!
Bad Customer Service!!! and rude. There customer service was not even qualify for one star. I order food on phone and went to the restaurant to pick up. There was a guy in suite doing something around counter. I waited for a while but he did not give me attention.. then I went to him and ask for food which I order on phone earlier. He din`t offer me to wait and sit, but I waited. Finally I got my order and pay but there was no gratitude. I am a customer and paying money to them so they should do good customer service and gratitude to grow in united State. I do not recommend to go this place because there are many better Nepali food around this area who does good customer service.
Fantastic service AND food! Been to this place half a dozen times and it’s been great every time. We have tried most of the menu.... our favorites are the Bandel Sekuwa, Pangra Fry, momos (go for the goat), and the Bhatmas Sandheko (actually spicy, don’t be fooled). Truthfully, anything from the “signature items” is worth trying. The sets are a good value and let you sample a good mix of the traditional menu items. The curries are good too, but don’t be basic, get the Himalayan food.
Great food and ambience. The service is excellent and the restaurant offers some of the staple foods of Nepal. People compare other Nepali restaurant prices with this but dont pay attention to that. The attentive service and food quality reflect the prices. You get what you pay for.
Some reviewers has misunderstand that restaurant is shut down because of violation.. I am as the manager of the restaurant would like to clarify that the restaurant was get caught massive fire on Aug 12 (Thursday) at 6:00 am and restaurant is fully burnt specially the kitchen .. we tried to update this circumstance on the google but it did not work because of some google errors .. and also we are apologize for this matter .. For now restaurant will probably be shutdown forcouple of months.. we will be updated reconstruction time to timeIn the future..
A strange and disappointing experience. The menu was bizarre: Certain items were apparently randomly assigned to be Thalis or appetizers with no discernable pattern. Service was both condescending and amateurish, and it took forever to get the food. The dishes were terrible: Every gravy dish was watery and had no flavor, the meat was gristly and the vegetables were bland. There was also no flavor: Even the spicy sauce tasted like water. Not recommended.
I stopped by for a take out order chicken Momo. Place is newly renovated and have owners. Momoa were pretty good. With two dipping sauces. A green and brown sauce. The green one is a little spicy. I had a long wait. But the one thing I didn’t like was the wait. Most places take out orders go quicker Because they want to get orders out of the way. I probably wait close to half hour.at least 25 minutes. “Manger” said 5 more minutes probably after I was there for 15 minutes.
We had very bad experience with this restaurant. We went with peoples recommendation. Though the service seemed good initially but we did not like food. We ordered momo and it came up cold and half cooked. We had to return that food. The sekuwas taste did not even came close to the one fourth of nepals bajeko sekuwa. The other thing the manager gave one price for the drinks but charged other amount later when we asked why is the difference in price he threw credit card on the floor. Had there been american customer would he behave same way? He was very disrespectful. He should go and learn customer service. Nepalese customer does not mean we are eating in free of cost. I am still surprise how could he display this behaviour to customer. I would never recommend any one to go there.
“This place is awesome” after long wait we had a really authentic food from Nepal. “Goat Sekuwa” Bandel ko Sekuwa and Jhol MOMO is one of the best dish. The ambience was great. The service is top notch. My waitress and Manager are very very attentive. Thank you for 10% coupon. We definitely recommend this place to visit. Thank you all for great hospitality.
FOOD was average, not so much to hype about. There was so less variety of foods but lot of drink and cocktail so maybe decent place for drink.SERVICE was below average, at least they asked how was the food going on.ENVIRONMENT was good though definitely a place if you are looking for a neat, clean and good place to enjoy your food.PRICE was a bit high comparatively to other restaurants, but not so expensive.
Came with my wife for dinner, and we both had a wonderful experience. We shared the Veg Sekuwa (grilled paneer & vegetables with puffed rice), Veg Jhol Momo (tasty Momo served in a soup of a spicy flavorful sauce), and Thukpa (mild but flavorful noodle veg soup).I also had the Masala Tea (Chai with milk) and my wife had chamomile tea.At the end of the meal, the host/server brought us gulab jamun on the house just as a nice gesture. All the food and drink were excellent. The host/server was familial and gracious, as well as attentive and knowledgeable. While we were still eating and talking after 10:30pm (they close at 11:00pm and the place was empty at this point but for us), the host asked if it was ok if they began mopping the floor. Given how many places Ive been to where theyll do this without asking it was such a relief to be asked. We said yeah, but he asked in a way that made it clear he was ok either way.Highly recommend. Well be back for sure!
Bajeko Sekuwa is a gem. Very cozy interior with an amazing Nepalese feel. The food is delicious. I have basically tried everything on the menu and nothing disappoints. A cup of Nepalese tea is a must have every time I visit. Authentic milk tea taste with hint of masala spice. They also have space downstairs where they host musicians on weekends. Definitely a party scene on weekends with food, drinks, and live music. All in all a great restaurant and very friendly staff; Vinod, Manoj, and Garima are very attentive and takes good care of customers. One of my go to places in Sunnyside!
By far one of the best restaurants in town. The food is exotic, yet not overwhelming. The service was excellent and overall experience was superb. Definitely try the mutton Momos and Badel. Also has the best Thukpa (better version of an average ramen) that is a MUST TRY!
Service was pretty bad. They werent rude or anything, but simply could not get their act together. As for the food, we ordered goat stew and it had just bones and skin. The appetizers werent that good either and the lemonade was done totally different than what the waiter explained.
I went there today and the place was shotdown completely by city for some violations and they did not even updated anything on google. I wasted my time and money to come to this place all the way from ohio to visit.Very negligent people. I wont come and recommand anyone to visit this place. Their phone line was also down
I was looking for a restaurant where I could find aunthetic nepali taste and Bajeko Sekuwa did not disappoint me. I loved their Khaja set. They are famous for their Sekuwa and it is definitely worth trying. Apart from that, their bone soup is really good. Momos are decent.
I seem to be stumbling across every Nepalese Restaurant in Queens, NY.Bajeko Sekuwa 🇳🇵 is located on Queens Boulevard in the Sunnyside section. The food is genuinely good and authentic. From spicy goat 🐐 stew to the ubiquitous momo, I was fortunate to have been given a broad range of dishes to sample. The owner and the chef were on-site and very helpful and friendly. From shared Indian food 🍲 to unique Nepalese dishes Bajeko Sekuwa is close to Long Island City and Astoria.I found the food, service and atmosphere for a good price will be a lure for me to return. The proximity to my office and Grubhub connection will no doubt be popular for ordering in luncheon.
Maybe I was there on the wrong day!The place was packed, guess they werent expecting that;so the service was kinda slow and not all that great. But Ill give the managers some credit (I guess) for checking up. The food was definitely not that good. Everything kinda tasted bland. And for that food, the money was super expensive. Again, MAYBE I WAS THERE ON THE WRONG DAY! Still give the management some credit for trying but they need to step up... but will kinda think twice about going there again..
Dont recommend this place at all. We had ordered ktm khaja set ,chicken momo, mutton sekuwa and mango lassi. After a few minutes of ordering our food the waitress came back to tell us that there was no mango lassi and asked if I wanted anything else. I said I was was good and wanted nothing and after a while she brought a glass of lassi without even asking if I wanted it or not?? And for the ktm khaja set there was not all the items available as mentioned in the menu. Really disappointed by the service and the food quality! For the same price you could get better service and much better food somewhere else. You could visit once to see what all the hype is about but other than that there is nothing else that this place offers!!
Food is not worth it and service also not good. We took a table ourself but nobody come until 5 minutes so we called to sever for the menu. They served everything as per our order but still we did not get water. This is my fist time with bad experience. I never try to go again.
This place is awesome, Manoj dai and his team is doing fantastic job in terms of hospitality and service. Khasi and badel sekuwa is phenomenonal, local khasi ko masu and alu tama is out of the world. Fantastic place for any Nepali, American, Indian, European and Latino guys to enjoy the Himalayan grill, Mount Everest style. Go and love it !!!
First of this is a hidden gem in NYC.Secondly, there’s a complement on every single menu item. And finally, WOW! The Wild Bore Skewers is so delicious that you forget it’s a wild. We had dumpling bowl, Goat Sekuwa, Bande Sekuwa, Khasi ko Bhutan and some drinks. So much to mention but 5 stars gets it all. Will comw back soon.
I am so disappointed with there service they charge for my food but I didn’t get my food till 1 hour they keep saying getting ready at last I had to leave with out food and the main thing the owner of that restaurant have no manner to talk with girls he is such an idiot i don’t even wanted to give them a single star highly i don’t recommend this restaurant to anyone
Bajeko sekuwa has been one of my fav place to eat these days...mostly awaited restaurant and yet the food is very delicious,,specially sekuwa is outstanding..the staff are very humble and environment inside is very nice...I highly recommend everyone atleast give it a try...

2021-03-15Bajeko Sekuwa came highly recommended by my friend from Pakistan. Ive had a lot of south asian and Pakistani food but this was on another level. The wild boar Sekuwas was seasoned and grilled very nicely. The sauce was excellent. The goat was tender and not overly seasoned. Surpisingly I think the black dahl was my favorite. It had a very nice pleasant flavor that was new to me. The chicken momos also had a very nice taste with some herbals that went very well with the sauces. I was very impressed with the seasonings. Nothing was over or under done. Even the pickles were not overly salted. The service was excellent and very knowledgeable. I will definitely go back.

2020-03-06My friends and I had a fun dinner here. For reference we are all East Asian and this was our first time trying Nepali food. Service was fantastic and the ambiance was clean & well-curated. Our waiter gave great recommendations. We got the chicken Momo, veg Sekuwa, and a few other items. And the final price was very reasons considering we all got drinks.

2018-11-26After the big hype went there for lunch. Everything we ordered was at its best except for the jhol momo. My favorite one was Bhutan and the sekuwa of course. The ktm khaja set was another hit. Little pricy compared to other nepali restaurant but worth it.Definitely going back again for whatever we have missed.Update: Tried steam momo this time, was good to my surprise. Loved the buff chili and Tauko fry. But badel dameko was not to my expectation. All the other items we ordered was good too.Been there many times now. All time favorite is Bhutan, khaja set & hyakula ko sekuwa.

2019-04-05The food could have been so much better. The lamb sekuwa was dripping in oil when it should have been roasted and the jhol momo was served with cold sauce on the side... The Kathmandu mixed plate was good compared to the others and the mango lassi was okay. I dont think this is the best place for Nepali food around this area but I hope that maybe I caught them on a bad day.

2019-09-04Such great food and service. And unbeatable prices! We had a Chicken Chilly, Ktm Khaja Set, veg momo, goat momo, veg chowmein and several servings of dirt cheap Macallan 12! Everything tasted amazing. The Ktm Khaja set came as a pleasant surprise in the sense that its like an assorted set of exotic snacks, and in my opinion its the baap of all chakhnas (father of all bar snacks). We also got complimentary Lal Mohan sweets at the end. Would love to visit again. Highly recommend!

2020-01-05The flavors are amazing, great variety and the staff are all friendly. We ordered three different dishes and they were all delicious. We will definitely be going back. The next time we go the biggest decision will be do we try something new or get what we enjoyed so much the last time. The owner came out to check on us and explain what each dish was. It could not have been a better experience!

2018-12-12I loved the curry. The service was very nice. The guy who took our orders was very welcoming and friendly. We went for late lunch and decided to go back the next day for dinner. At night the place is very alive and fun. I enjoyed the music.

2019-09-29If youre looking to try something new, this place is great! We loved the steamed veg momo in sauce. The veg sekuwa had a ton of flavor, and the puffed rice that came with it was an interesting experience, something along the lines of savory rice crispies? I think the owner or manager was there and walking around helping out with tables too, which is always nice to see!

2018-05-23It was my first visit. Heard alot about this place. Food served was overall was perfect. We tried Khaja set which was one of the best. Goat sekuwa was good too. Meat was grilled/cooked to perfection with typical nepali sekuwa taste.
