Stuck overnight due to a flight cancellation. This was the best place to spend that night. Great music, drinks, and atmosphere. Ill be back anytime Im in the city. Highly recommend if anyone wants a personal and low key kind of night. Reminded me of some of the small jazz bars around New Orleans
One of NYCs best-kept secrets. Wonderful atmosphere: dim lighting, dark wood and low ceilings. They have jazz nightly, usually guitar trios. The music has been excellent every time Ive been here. You can get food from La Lanterna, a high-end Italian restaurant next door. Theres no cover for the opening act; after that theres a $12 cover and 1-drink minimum - pretty reasonable.
One of the best little bars in the village, with jazz most nights, Wednesdays is often Jonathan kreisberg. Good bartender mixing perfect Manhattans, and you get the food from la lanterna next door: pizza, lasagna, etc. I love this place. Very small, very intimate setting for music and food. Usually a cover when theres music

2021-02-10A gem in West Village! We discovered La Lanterna last year in December and have gone there 6 times already:-)From the host Vittorio to other staff members like Tamer everyone is super welcoming. The food at La Lanterna is beyond special; from their bruschetta to lasagna to the best tiramisu in the world, every single dish is exquisite!!Their lasagna bolognese, roasted pepper bruschetta, and tiramisu are a must have!!! If someone ends up going on a super cold day do not forget to order a cup of hot chocolate . It was so good that we had back-to-back three cups of itIt is truly a hidden gem!!!!

2019-08-30It is a really nice place. It was a great experience for us visiting NYC for a few days. We were lucky to find this restaurant in the basement of a busy corner. Small, but good to hear good jazz in a intimate manner. Good acoustic. Very efficient and friendly service. Two sets of good jazz for a very convenient cover. Clean and confortable. Would love to go again.

2014-03-11Showed up here on a Sunday night without reservations. Was sat quickly and food was excellent. The guy who was scheduled for the 10:00 set couldnt be there so a trio filled in. Im glad they did, music was superb! Luca, our waiter, was one of the friendliest people we met during our trip and gave us plenty of inside tips about things to see and do. Forget the more famous jazz places in the area, this is the spot to be.

2020-01-09Excellent atmosphere and live music. The mulled wine was particularly enjoyable on a cold winter day! There’s no cover for the local artists, so if you get there before the first set you can still listen to wonderful jazz without paying extra.

2018-07-26Amazing place for jazz in the city. It is small - so make sure you make a reservation before you go. The food is reasonable (the pizzas are quite delicious), the service is friendly and the jazz is always good here. It is what jazz bars in NYC are known for.

2018-12-22Great place to enjoy jazz. Quiet, small and intimate affording wonderful experience of being close to the music. The staff is excellent, very non intrusive. The menu is actually pretty good for a jazz venue and not too overpriced. All in all, one of the best places to enjoy jazz in NYC
