Bare Naked Bakery in other cities:
We have spent so much money here (pretty pricey) and I’ll say half the times the pastries are dry and stale. My toddler used to eat it but tonight spit it out too. We are limited because of allergies & health conditions so we hope to get fresh stuff when we go in. They do Not put anything away as I’ve gotten brownies with other things spackled onto the bottom of it & it tasted so old. We kept giving chances, but it’s sadly not worth it anymore.
I came in this past Sunday and I’m not one to leave reviews, but this place deserved one so I can warn people. Food is overpriced and cookies were beyond stale and rock hard, which sucks for people who have to rely on this place for gluten free food. Also has way too much sugar. The person who bakes the pastries clearly needs to go back to culinary school. This place has no calorie count for any of the items and has no prices stated anywhere on their menu (clearly they know that if people saw the price, they would walk out). Definitely do not recommend.
Hated this place, first off they should label their food better especially for the price your paying. They have a very limited all soy based vegan menu, I shouldn’t be eating soy but order food without from here without knowing, they don’t offer refunds wasted $22 on food I took one bite out of. And the one bite I took was mediocre in taste definitely never coming here again.
All the pastries here are extremely expensive and theyre not very good. Plenty of other nut free / gluten free places that are much better than here. Cant speak to their bagels or other breakfast/lunch items… but when it comes to cookies/breads etc, I dont recommend this place at all.Staff is very friendly though
I live in the neighborhood and have been gluten free for years so I have been to this bakery several times as gluten free options can be limited. Although the selection is vast and some items are delicious, the prices are astronomical but worse than that is one of the girls on staff (maybe the owner) is the rudest person ever! I have looked past it many times but now I’m done. My egg sandwich was $10.00 and mediocre, a regular deli is about $4.00. With my bill I also got a nasty attitude I have never seen this woman smile or say thank you for coming! I think she needs a lesson in retail which I have been in for 30years so I personally understand the importance of being nice to people!
Good bagels but over priced. I get that gluten free is more expensive but i shouldn’t have to pay $10 for a bacon egg and cheese when I’m reality it should be like $5-$6. I love the Plainview location they are very nice. At least if I’m gonna pay $10 for that you show throw in a drink like real delis do. Overall I still like this bakery but prices should be reduced.
Went here for breakfast after surviving a terrible stomach flu. So I would have eaten anything. Being vegan, my bar is low for most places. Even those who advertise vegan options usually only have hummus plates or cold, rubbery tempeh. This place offered desserts and an entire vegan menu. I ordered two self serve coffees and two sandwiches and the charge was over $30. Pretty steep. The soy milk in the fridge for my coffee didnt expire till January but was so thick, it wouldnt pour from the carton. I was increasingly concerned. I waited for my vegan grilled cheese and it came in minute. Great, except that the cheese appeared congealed. The sandwich was cold and the middle of the bread was frozen. I couldnt eat it. Just tossed it right out. I cant risk food poisoning after the flu I just had! Driving to another place 10 miles away. Im hoping their vegan menu items are checked for expiration and stored properly, just like their regular fare. What a bummer. This may be why some people dont want to go vegan. If this was my first experience with vegan food I would have never have made the change. Super disappointing.
Unfortunately if you have to be gluten-free you may have to rely on at this bakery. However, the staff is completely rude and disrespectful. They really need to treat their customers with respect especially people that have to eat gluten free and their baked items are very grainy and not worth the trip.
A lot of nice items on shelves and take home items. Place is clean and has a lot to offer for gluten free, nut free individuals. Only thing I was greeted with was I wasnt allowed to have my beverage inside because supposedly no outside beverages are allowed. Ok no sign was posted that one could see other than an old curled up hand written paper on the door. Wasnt crazy about that one thing. Other than that seemed like a tasty place, expensive at that to shop for certain particular needs.
Great find for the allergen community. We had breakfast sandwiches which were excellent! Gluten free roll is nice with a crunchy crust. Bagel was good too albeit a little big and puffy for a bagel but its hard to be picky when you have a GF dietary restriction. We tried a cannoli as well, which was the best GF version Ive had to date.So I felt the need to update this review, we left with a few pastry snacks as well, and Ive got to say none of them were anything to write home about. Which was surprising since everything else was so good. The donut was a solid piece of Rock, the rainbow cake was stale and unimpressive. We left with a few Bagels as well, which were good enough but theyre not Bagels theyre just rolls with holes and garlic and onion on them. Which is pretty good for bread, but not a bagel
This not not my first time at this place but my last. The first time I ordered a cheese cake In advance and was given someone else’s that never came to pick up there order. This cake was hard and disgusting. I came back and they gave me a fresh cake. However I had to make 2 trips. This time I wanted soup. It’s on the menu but none made. No pizza but advertise for 3 varieties. I was told she just got there. I asked if they just opened the door? Don’t you make fresh for the day if it’s on the menu? The lady asked if I would like an egg sandwich or panini. I didn’t come there for eggs. Diners make great eggs and have gluten free bread. Calda. Has excellent gluten free pizza and eggplant.. the pizza they can make with anything on it. This place is for baked goods don’t waste your time there. The counter person said the owner has been in business for nine years she doesn’t have to worry. Guess what. I can get baked goods at shop rite and some bagel stores carry gluten free varieties. I would worry
The sunflower butter with jelly on any bagel is amazing. All the fresh items are great, the staff is helpful and the farmers stand during the weekend has fresh veggies and sweet peaches. The rainbow cookies are delicious and the bagels are huge. This place would get 5 stars but the prepackaged items are decent tasting at best and for a bagel shop the coffee is blah. A cappuccino machine is needed. But overall this is a solid spot
I visited three different times when the bakery first opened and it was descent the first two times. The prices were ridiculous for the descent flavor and texture-I had bought each time cookies, bread and brownies. The third time threw me for a loop. Every single item was awful. The cookies were literally hard as rock, the bread was gummy and tasted under-baked and the brownies were really dry and crumbly with no flavor whatsoever. All three times the girls behind the counter seemed rude and lazy, odd since each time I was spending around $60-$70.I havent been back ever since, but it annoyed me to notice that my original review I posted isnt here. Too bad, they lost a generous customer that was willing to pay an arm and a leg for descent tasting food.
Got some vegan treats for my birthday and was really disappointed. Everything was really expensive so I expected the food to at least be edible. The cupcakes were flavorless, I threw them out after a few bites after I tried to stomach them. Black and white cookie was a little bland and dry but at least somewhat edible. My mom got the crumb cake and said it was hard as a rock. Disappointed as I was left with no sweets for my birthday as all my non-veggie friends enjoyed themselves. Won’t be recommending this to a friend or returning.
Should just be a bakery as they say they are, and Im still not too impressed. I asked about a vegan pizza as it was clearly on the menu board overhead and was told you have to order it two days in adavance! Really? I also asked over the phone for a vegan cake and was told that they had something of that nature, when I arrived they had a pie pan chocolate chip pie which was $28.75, if my dogs could eat chocolate thats where it would have gone. Let get real here, if you are promoting yourself to the lifestyle of a sect of the community at least put in a decent effort to produce a real quality item in a decent time frame. As always a smile and bye bye, never going back.
Although no one in the family has Celiacs, I do find that gluten containing foods (and processed foods in general) do not agree with me. Bare Naked is great. Weve been here several times either to pick up food for guests that do have Celiacs or even to have breakfast/lunch. Great selection of breads/bagels/rolls as well as desserts. Highly recommend.
The only thing I could say is nice people working there. But other then that, there was no vegan cheese so I basically couldnt order anything. On top of that I ordered a vegan roll which I never got and didnt notice till I got home. The vegan cupcakes I ordered I thought would be great.....nope hard as a rock couldnt even sink my teeth in them. And on top of all of that 20 bucks for a cookie, grill cheese, and 3 vegan muffins. All I can say is Im very disappointed in this place.
I’ve seen this place for years and it wasn’t until two weeks ago that I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. My daughter brought me bagels which were totally different in a good way. I really enjoyed them! The Linzer Tart and Rainbow cookies were horrible, really horrible. The sandwiches are ok but the bread is too thin and they stuff them so much they fall apart. In addition too heavy on the sauces, way too much. The brownies are good. I have to go back and try other things. MY CONCERN IS: what are the calories of this stuff and nutritional values? I’m afraid to go back as I don’t know what I’m consuming.
My entire experience in this bakery was painful. From the obnoxiously long time I waited in line behind two people, to the time it took the young woman behind the counter to even acknowledge me after she had helped the patron before me. I then ordered an egg sandwich with no tomato on a roll. Now, had she been paying attention to my order and not chatting with her coworker in the middle of my order, she may have gotten the order correct. Sandwich arrived with tomato all over it. The sandwich was bland and definitely a pass. The coffee was meh. The bigger problem with the coffee station was the lack of a trash can to throw out anything. Instead, leaving me to carry my trash to the other side of the store to toss it.Dont waste your time or money here.
Bare Naked Bakery offers a wide assortment of baked goods and is even available for lunch items as well. After going to this bakery a few times, I have found the staff to always be pleasant and helpful. The main attraction at this establishment is its great for people with dietary needs that need to be met in the realms of being gluten free and for vegan fare. Parking is limited in their lot so you may need to find street parking nearby.
I love, love, love Bare Naked Bakery!! Im the only one in my family that is forced to be gluten free but everytime we go there, everyone in my family finds a treat to enjoy. My husband loves their paninis, my daughter loves their black and white cookies and I LOVE their soft pretzels, bagels, cannolis, their baking mixes...I could list their entire menu! If youre gluten free (or not!) I recommend stopping in for lunch and a treat!
Bare Naked Bakery & Cafe is great! I found this place while looking for a place to buy my dad something for his birthday. My dad has Celiacs disease and cannot have food with wheat or gluten. This bakery is 100% gluten free, which is perfect for what i was looking for. They make great cakes, and cookies, and my dad loved what i got him.Bare Naked is not just a bakery but also a cafe, with a weekly changing menu, driven by customers wants. It always sounds delicious in the email i get from them.Give this place a try if you need gluten free food or not, Its delicious!
During both times I’ve gone here, the staff were not friendly or helpful and they seemed annoyed by my simple questions... Their desserts are not well labeled and the two cookies I tried were way too sweet. I’ve heard great things about the other location (which offers a lot more vegan options) but the Bellmore bakery has a lot of room for improvement.
I stopped in on a recent Saturday morning. I have Celiac and am very careful about what I eat. I got a toasted sesame bagel with what I think was margarine on it. I also got a chocolate chip cookie. The bagel was not toasted but heated up on a grill which looked like it had not been cleaned in quite a long time. Several hours later I felt sick and had to stay close to a bathroom for the rest of the day. I was sick and did not start to feel better until the afternoon of the next day. Needless to say I will not return.
I have celiac disease and its great that my mom found this place a couple of years ago! Every thing is gluten free here so there is so much to choose from! I usually get a panini or an everything bagel there and they are both delicious! The paninis have a great meat:cheese ratio as the cheese does not over power the meat. The bread they use for the paninis is amazing. The everything bagels are the best bagels they have, just remember to ask for your butter on the side. The best deserts there are the brownies, which taste like fudge, and the chocolate chip cookies which are just as good as the brownies (sometimes I have trouble choosing which one to get!) the serving size at bare naked is kind of big so you can usually bring home leftovers if you get a brownie or a sandwich. The only things I dontrecommend are the cakes, cupcakes, and muffins because they put way to much of this binder called xanthum gum in them which makes them taste funny and have a weird texture. Secondly, there is this desert that is two chocolate chip cookies/sugar cookies with a ton of royal icing in the middle. They call it a cookie witch. It is delicious but can be very heavy on your stomach.Overall, bare naked is an amazing place for anyone with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity and for people who dont have celiac disease. This is an amazing place and once again I am so happy that it exists. Just dont confuse it with Bare buns another gluten free place by the same people, bare buns is not as good as bare naked.
This place is a gem! I went here to get some gluten-free & nut-free goodies that turned out to be absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this place they have great customer service, looks very clean and they have their own parking on the side. If youre in the neighborhood definitely stop by.
I would give zero stars if I could!! The woman behind the counter had a nasty diposition as if we were bothering her by being there! They advertise lots of vegan options but they dont actually have them!! We had to have our veggie burgers on some nasty pita bread thing b/c they didnt have any rolls. The dessert options were lacking and the cookies that we had were not even good! I will not be visiting ever again!!!
Bare Naked Bakery is a little slice of GF heaven for me. First of all, its a full and proper eatery, with plenty of seating and nice decor. Most GF bakeries I have been to are just store fronts with cases of baked goods. This was much larger and cozy feeling. There were a lot of offerings. Candies, cookies, rainbow cookies, cake pops, black and white cookies, sugar cookies, linzer tarts, pound cakes, and cupcakes. There were also a large selection of freshly baked loaves of bread and an assortment of different bagels. They also had a selection of frozen breads, pizza dough, rolls, as well as many different dry baking mixes.I purchased a sugar cookie, a linzer tart, an onion bagel, an everything bagel, and a loaf of the mock rye bread. Total cost was just under $20, which I felt was very reasonable for a speciality bakery. On the way home from the bakery, the aroma of the baked goods permeated the car. For someone who has been gluten free for the past 18 months, this was a real treat. I have rheumatoid arthritis, and gluten kills my joints. Even the tracest amount can be felt within hours. The sugar cookie was delicious. Soft, creamy. I wish I had bought a few more. I am tempted to go back again just for thr cookies. I had the linzer tart later with coffee. Again, delicious. I had the bagel the morning after buying it and it was still moist and soft. Seriously worth it. Same with the mock rye. Ate slice plain just to taste it. Did not have any adverse reaction to the food. The guy behind the counter when we visited, Lloyd, was fantastic. He was personable, social, and knowledgeable about the products. He gave me a lot of different suggestions and explained how certain things tasted, and how well they would stay good. I got the mock rye at his suggestion. He made the experience even better for me. As someone who cannot eat gluten, my eating and food shopping experiences have been severely dampened. Its a constant battle to try and ascertain whats in my food, and I encounter restaurant staff regularly who do not understand what gluten is. So being in a space that was safe to eat at, a proper bakery outfitted for am actual meal, with a fellow GF traveller was cathartic. Great food, totally reasonable prices, great staff. I will be making the trip back regularly.
Went on a thursday afternoon. More of a breakfast nook but they have sandwiches and pizza. I had a Bacon Egg and Cheese bagel which was good but the dough they use for the bagel was more like corn bread and too filling. all in all i think they need to specialize instead of trying to do everything i think its taking away from the overall quality.
I accidentally found this Gluten Free Bakery while visiting a boutique in the area. When I walked in I thought I died and went to heaven. I am Gluten Free and my daughter is GF and Nut free. I had coffee and a delicious GF brownie and came home with pizza ( delish) cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, and 2 loaves of bread. I went home and had my first grill cheese in 5 years. Loved t! Everything is awesome. I will take the 45 minute car ride regularly for their bread alone.Thank you for catering to people with allergies!!!!
If I could give less of a review I would. I came here with my friend after a yoga class next door. Whatever chakras I opened were definitely closed right back up by the “food” I was served. After my friend and I waited 11 minutes for each of our sandwiches not only was his laden with the tomatoes he specifically asked to not be present but my pressed sandwich was cold. Maybe if the staff hadn’t literally been pulling pranks on each other they would have realized they were making items barely passable as edible.Namaste, as in nah imma stay home next time.
Do not bother with the cafe food. I got a salad that was made up of yellow romaine while the extra bits tasted like they had been cut days prior. It was a cheap salad you would expect from a bodega or deli. The sandwitches were soggy and cooked on what smelled like an umclean grill. The baggette was the only decent thing. The cookies tasted cheap.
This is that first bad review Ive ever written and for me to do this it has to be really bad. If Im paying $12 for a sandwich I expect it not only to be good, but also made right and at least edible. I was so disappointed to find my sandwich completely fell apart to mush and I couldnt even pick it up. It was also missing the sauce that was supposed to be on it and to top it off, my chips were stale.
Literally just drove an hour and a half from Brooklyn. I pull up to bare naked to get the cookies that i enjoy. I pull up at 659 on the dot so happy made it before they close and the lights were on. I walk up to the door and it’s locked and the lady tells me no. Like are you kidding me. Why is the door even locked at 659. When it says there open till 7. Just drove an hour and half for nothing unbelievable. Can’t believe it. Terrible customer service.
The place was so dirty. From the tables to the floors it was dirty. In addition the walls needed to be cleaned or painted plus a sign on the cooler case was from thanksgiving and it was August. I passed on food as I was going to be sick seeing the back and everything uncovered. My friend bought a brownie which was stale. There was only one teenage girl working there. Shame there is no other place around but I wont eat here
I previously gave this place a not so good review, BUT I gave it another chance and had an AMAZING experience. Store was stocked full of all kinds of goodies this time and the staff was extremely friendly and happy to help. Tried a brownie (was delicious) and got a cookie pie thing to bring to a dinner event and it was a hit. Glad I gave you guys a second chance
Thursday night, I had a cupcake and a cannoli from this place, and I had a BAD allergic reaction to it! The person said it was dairy free. IT WASNT! I had to spend 2 hours in the EMERGENCY ROOM at Good Samaritan Hospital! I had to throw the rest of the desserts in the garbage! I AM NEVER ORDERING OR COMING TO THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN!!!

2022-03-31This bakery is such a lovely find! I am so happy that it’s close to our new home. Yes the prices are high but I think that’s what you get when you have excellent quality specialty products! I’ve had so many GF desserts before due to my food intolerances - I gotta say the brownies were one of the best GF ones I’ve ever had, the chocolate chip cookies are absolutely the best GF ones I’ve had, the cupcakes were fantastic. Both my husband + I were shook over how the gluten free breads tasted nearly identical to its gluten-heavy counterpart. Can’t wait to come back!

2022-03-31My fiancée has a super sensitive GI tract and wheat tends to cause her a lot of distress. It’s hard finding desserts and overall bread-y foods that she can enjoy without feeling pain twenty minutes later. This spot was an absolute winner. The desserts taste like and have the texture of regular deserts instead of that grainy feeling some gluten free desserts tend to have. I didn’t even realize the panini I ordered was gluten free too (all products are) cause it just tasted like a regular panini. The prices are a little “higher” than a regular bakery but that’s to be expected with gluten free products. Coming from NYC, they’re cheaper than most prices we have here for a regular bakery anyway.

2022-02-06This is one of the vegan dessert available. Non-vegan options are many. Nice taste.

2022-06-01Hit or miss. reason why i feel a 1 star is fair because 8 cookies should not cost $20.10. Extremely steep price. Can get more for your dollar, even better quality, elsewhere. Kinda feel ripped off.updated: the website prices do NOT match there actual prices. this place is a complete RIP OFF!! you can literally make it yourself for less cost than how much she charges people. honestly should be embarrassed

2022-05-24So. Damn. Good!To have bagels this good is unheard of as a gluten free diner. A must-stop if youre in the area.

2022-06-24I love this place. The cannoli’s are amazing. The staff can be rude at times. I visited this location last week and asked for cannoli and the girl kept huffing and puffing that she had to go in the back to make a cannoli. She comes out with the cannoli and it was half filled.

2019-11-12Everything is gluten free! Its a gluten free facility so you dont have to worry about cross contamination. Fresh bagels made every day. You can even get a pizza made with their own dough or bring their dough home to make yourself.

2021-10-11My go to for allergy free GF or vegan cakes. They have delicious cookies and creative cakes. The staff and owner are very sweet. You can taste the love in every bite. If you happen to sit for lunch or a coffee you will be surrounded by cute decor. 10/10

2022-03-09Very good gf options, but prices are horrendously high. Small round cake for 6 was 40 and change. Yes, gf items cost money, but if things were slightly cheaper would come more often.
