Barnes & Noble in other cities:
Barnes and Noble had all of the books I have wanted to read and give for Christmas presents. American Happiness and Discontent, George Willsto name 1 of my 4 selections. You really need to be a member to get discounts. Oh what fun I and my family will have reading and conversing.
This Barnes and Noble is a very nice store with a Starbucks café. There is a nice sized childrens section and a graphic novel and Manga section. They offer vinyl records, DVD, and CDs. There is also a section for games and cards. I love this Barnes and Noble so much. The staff is also very nice and helpful.
The atmosphere was very laid back & relaxing. The interior is modern & spacious. The organization of the book shelves flow so you dont have to break your neck trying to find a topic. The staff are pleasant, helpful,& respectful. I didnt go to the coffee shop located in the back of the store but overall this was a pleasant experience. Highly recommended if you want to get out of the house instead of using Amazon.
One of the few brick and mortar bookstores left, and its nice to see so many bound books in one place in the 21st century. Roomy, clean, and tastefully decorated. It would be nice if the shelving signs were a little bigger so you dont have to wander everywhere to find what youre looking for, but you can always order in-store pickup if you dont have 20 minutes to browse past books that you have no interest in.
Great experience. Bought online for same day pickup. Pickup was barely 3 minutes start to finish. Customer service was super nice no matter which location I visit. Took some time to browse for old titles I wanted as well. I was also assisted by Rachel who was super polite, helpful, and smart. She did the legwork and successfully found several of the books I wanted . I highly recommend a visit here if in the neighborhood!
Its Barnes & Noble. If you are a book person, this needs no description, lol. This particular location is a bit smaller than other locations Ive been to. However, courteous & helpful staff. Should have the more popular releases available, but they will search & order what you are looking for if not in stock. Store was clean and orderly. Wish the magazine section was kept up more. I know this type of media is fading, but people still do buy magazines. They have magazines on the racks that are months old and current issues seem to take forever to be stocked. Otherwise, not a bad store.
I want to applaud the Newburgh Barnes & Noble for its diverse, well-stocked horror and YA sections, featuring award-winning and ambitious titles by local (Hudson Valley-based) authors alongside the buzzworthy books and titans of the genre. The store is clean and spacious as ever with polite staff. My own preference is to support indie booksellers, but B&Ns like the one in Newburgh make me very glad the company is still in business. May it always remain so!
I love B&N, been coming here since I was a kid.The manager there today was really rude for some reasonMy sister and I put away $100 worth of books we were gonna buy.Weve never had a problem there before. We have literally been here hundreds of times before and have spent thousands of dollars through the years.Oh well.
Great place, large, clean, nice cafe, good employees. Seating areas are okay. Good selection and stock is accurate when checking online before visiting. Additional note: the membership is worth it for the 10% off all purchases, and free coupons for the cafe (if you buy books or other items frequently like physical music, or fan merchandise)
Love coming here to see what cool, new merch they have. The store is always clean, well organized. Employees are helpful and friendly. The Starbucks has a really nice seating area where I go to get a coffee, lunch, and/or study. The food is good, a little pricey, but its Starbucks. They used to have some nice comfy chairs against the walls of the seating area, which I miss, but there is plenty of seating. Prices are a little high throughout the store but theres usually a nice selection of deeply discounted sale items to look through. Ive found a few great items over the years. Overall, great atmosphere and love that I can grab a drink and a book to enjoy.
Visited today Tuesday April 20 at about 5:50 pm. Ordered 2 coffees. The person was very rude. Never said thank you or anything. She asked fir my BN phone number for rewards and when I started to give it she snapped I’m not on that screen yet! I say sorry and she says both. Gives us our coffee and no thank you. Nothing. Very rude.
The last time I came in, I had asked about a book on alchemy. Not only did the girl behind the counter not know how to spell alchemy, but when the book turned out to simply not be what I was looking for and I left, she and her coworker stared daggers at me as I left and it made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. Every other experience Ive had in the store was great, the other cashiers and workers have always had great customer service, just not this instance.
This is a wonderful bookstore. The help desk is wonderful. They help to locate your book quickly, if not available, they order it immediately. They also suggest other reading material by the author and the subject. They are interested in your opinions on books. They have wonderful book clubs. They have comfortable chairs for you to read and check out if you like the book. There is a Starbucks offer good brunch. They make their own cookies there. You get a deal if you purchase from the store. Its great to go there, especially when the library has limited resources.People are in there to learn from many sources, meet others to discuss and learn from them. It is an exciting intellectual experience. Take your time and enjoy.
A real pleasure to find a book store still open. There is so much pleasure in holding a real book, turning the pages, feeling the paper pages, the whole tactile experience. The staff was delightful and very helpful. A bit disappointed there were so few quilting books but did find an excellent selection of quilting magazines. Something for everyone of every age. A great place to stretch the mind and keep it young.
Will always come here for books! Im a member of BOTM, but nothing compares to getting into a store and spending hours with the shelves choosing the perfect book! My most recent visit I left with 6 new additions and they even had signed copies 😊 If I had more time, I would totally sit down and enjoy a quick read and bite to eat at their cute little cafe! Cozy and quiet space.
If you like books bookstore, do get the $25 membership - it has paid for itself and more for the last 3 years for me, and I use it when my friends but stuff there so they are happy too. I used to like Barnes and Noble as my book spot - now I love it as over time it has improved in ways I couldnt imagine. They have great current books, and what they dont have they can order for you to either be shipped to your doorstep or picked up at the store. They have lots more seating than they used to - including next to outlets where you can recharge your devices. One time I had no place to take my online class, and I went there and no one bothered me. I always but a little book if I do that but its just great to know there is a haven for book lovers right in Newburgh.
Came here 2 days before christmas and was completely shocked and excited to be able to do a one stop shop for my remaining gifts. Ive never realized how much stuff they have that isnt books. The employees were helpful and the lines were short and fast moving. I will definitely be stopping in more often now that Ive seen what a variety of merchandise they carry!
This is a pretty good store. Ive found the younger employees to be really friendly. An older employee (presumably a supervisor) was suspicious and asked me about my experience with one of the younger employees. It came across as strange to me, really. That particular employee was one of the most dedicated and friendly Id ever interacted with at the store — theyd helped me for a long time just to make sure they did everything they could and were a pleasure. Occasionally, theres a book thats a bit worse for wear (Ive noticed this at Barnes & Noble stores elsewhere and its unfortunate). I purchased some ink that had a faulty cap and got everywhere. I couldnt even return it because the return window is so short and that was a busy time for me. Thats one of my biggest complaints about Barnes & Noble, in general. The music can be a bit too loud at times (once I had to actually leave). I find it strange that theyd be blasting the music because who can pick out a book when they cant even hear themselves think? So, thats something to keep in mind when going. Otherwise, its a clean store with pretty nice, helpful employees.
The kids section is great, as are the expansive collection of adult fiction and toys and board games. I don’t explore the other areas often enough to comment. I bring my 1 year old to look at all the books and stuffed animals. They also have great story telling events on weekends. The cafe is nice but needs much more seating, as it gets rather crowded.
I was looking for a particular gift item that I had seen on the website and I was hoping to buy it in the store since it was on my way home and I wouldnt have to wait for it. I couldnt find it, couldnt remember exactly what the name was, and a young employee named Hailey (at the Newburgh, NY site) stuck with me, found the name of the item from my description and THEN found it for me in the store! Great customer service and nice to know the item was in stock and I could go home with it the same day. I love going to this store! Nothing like reading a good book in the cafe with a coffee and a pastry.
There’s nothing like holding a book in your hands and reading it. Looking through the pictures and afterwards keeping it in your collection so others can also experience it.Thank you Barnes and Noble for keeping this alive. There’s a great Starbucks in the store for drinks and amazing food.
Im writing this mostly about their coffee shop but Ive had the same great experience with the bookstore too. About the coffee shop, they have friendly staff, great service, and it is very clean. I highly recommend this location.Ive bought several books and magazines here too and have always experienced friendly and knowledgeable staff. I highly recommend this location.
Depending on what you intend to buy, Barnes and Noble can be a good place to buy your books. If you have a membership and you buy best sellers or head over to the bargain sections, youre likely to get a deal that rivals Amazon. If, however, you find yourself consistently looking for books that are not on sale, the membership might not be worth it. I happen to have a fairly eclectic taste, so Barnes and Noble is rarely a good deal for me. I rate it highly because it seems like itd be great for the majority of readers.
I personally love Barnes & Noble....But then I like anyplace where you can browse for as long as you want, and not be bothered by a salesperson....Ive always believed this to be true about Barnes & Noble...Whether or not you choose to purchase anything, you still will not be harassed by annoying sales people.....
Great staff; it seemed quiet and I had enjoyable meditation/work/ coffee moment, however, Two cops armed and in uniform pulled up to the door just as I was leaving. Did something happen I didnt notice? Did a hating snowflake hipster false accuse somebody of something behind their backs? Anyway, cops aint what I look for in a bookstore and coffee shop. I doubt I will go back there. Thanks though.
I like coming to this Barnes and Nobles for a good book, coffee and a pastry. Very clean inside and organized. The cafe is good also. Just one thing, Im not sure why they cant put sweeteners in my coffee or tea. If they put whipped cream on it, I have to put my own sweetener in it so that means I have to dump the whipped cream just to get the sweetener inside. Not fun. Kinda stressful.
Its the closest Barnes and Nobles in the Orange County and has a very convenient Starbucks within. Wide selection of music, movies, books, magazines as well as an art and got section. Pretty well maintained and nice staff, just wish there was more good alternatives and a larger area to sit in.
So I went to this Barnes & Noble on 10/21/20 around 12:30pm to see what new Pokémon cards were restocked as I’ve been checking weekly for the new set to come in. I noticed they had Elite trainer boxes priced for $19.99 so I attempted to buy them .i went to checkout and was denied the sale by the manger on duty ??!! He told me they were Mispriced and I wasn’t able to buy them at that price ! I asked why and he couldn’t give me a straight forward answer and couldn’t even sell them to me at a discounted price he refused to sell me any . I calmly walked out and attempted to call corporate left multiple messages and was told I would receive a call back .. it’s been a month and still nothing I’ve written numerous emails and still gotten nothing ! I just want a explanation on why I wasn’t able to prices the products at that price as it clearing said $19.99 !
Its a book store so i just love it no matter. it is hard to see the signs of them adjusting to the new reality of the retail scene. less inventory. more games and odd things. BUT to the credit of our local management, they are very active in the community, so I wish there was a 6th star to give them!
So I read a lot! I watch a lot of movies! I listen to a lot of music! And I drink a lot of coffee! Barns and Noble helps with everyone of those things! The staff is quite knowledable and attentive as well! If they dont know something right off the top of their heads, their always willing to help look for it! So much love for this place! Check it out!!
Just like any other BN. Friendly assistance with look for specific titles and/or editions. Clean and bright and well maintained. Would like to see signage directing us where to find more books similar to those on display at front door; like find more books like this in our ______ section. I think that would really increase foot traffic in areas you wouldnt normally get.
Barnes and Noble is still one of my favorite places to go.I am old school and still love my books.Today I was on the hunt for a graphic novel. With the help of the staff I found out that it was not available in stores, but possibly online. That was alright by me because I still made the best of my trip.Since I dont know when my next visit will be,I purchased three other books and I got their Cinderella Latte to go which was amazing! Since I am a member,I saved 10% on each book.Thank you Barnes and Noble!
I always love Barnes and nobles. This is a relocation that you possibly can find a comfortable seat, drink coffee, and eat their delicious cookies. Unlike most of the Barnes and nobles on the West Coast, they chocolate chip cookies and their Reeses cookies have more chips. I have bought some toys on clearance for my nieces for only 2 bucks each. What a bargain! I purchase a $2 book that had a great chapter that I plan to use to guide my community service.
My wife had purchased books in the Colonie Center mall a week ago, I ended up returning the books to this location as it is the closest one to us.Upon entering the location I spoke with an associate about doing a return and he was very nice and pointed me in the right direction. When I got to the register I explained to the associate why I was returning them and he proceeded to give an attitude for no reason.
This barnes and noble is much like many others you would find out there. They have a wide variety of books in various categories as well as a big selection of magazines, toys and journaling/writing gifts. They have a cafe with coffee, tea and light snack. There is also a big music section and clean bathrooms that accommodate families. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable.
Ah yes. The end of an era. I cleaned up on gifts and knick-knacks for the family around christmas. It has become more of a toy and multimedia store than I ever remember it being. Most of the stuff can be found online for cheaper but it does feel good to cruise through a bookstore every once in a while.
I always enjoy my trip to this Barnes and Noble. Large store with large Starbucks Coffee and Cafe. Nice dedicated childrens area, music area and Asian manga, anime and toy section especially pushteen. Helpful, friendly staff. Section for novelties, journals, candles and other gift type items.
Everything in that store, I can get in high def without leaving my house. Think about that. Think about the resources being used for this one store in upstate NY, then pan back and look at it globally. See the problem? All the people who believe in human caused climate change who frequent or patronize this store are hypocrites of the highest order. In closing, almost everything sold at the Starbucks inside is poison. Get of the carbs and sugars America.
Ordered some items online fot pick up in the store. The items were ready and waiting when I arrived. The store was bustling but the staff didnt lose a beat. They were all friendly and accomodating. Nice to be able to visit a bookstore and not just have to order online. Recommend a visit here if you are in the area.
Amazon may be the king of book retail, but if you want the ambience of a real bookstore with real books that you can browse and touch then B&N may be your thing. Their stores are large and airy and have all the usual gee-gaws besides books and good selection of vinyl records. Sit in a comfortable armchair with a cup of coffee and browse a pile of books. Are you in?
While the stores staff is generally friendly and helpful, I didnt find the cafe staff to be very adept or friendly. Ive found many books at this location to have damage to them, despite still being sold at full price -- bends in the cover, folded pages, occasional tears, etc. The juxtaposition of the overpriced Vera Bradley purses (some $50+) piled on top of each other like a Walmart bargain bin, a few paces from the discount books (some 50%+ off), is strange and incredibly misleading. In addition, the music here is often played so loud that its hard to hear oneself think, let alone read a few pages to get an idea of what book one wants. I rarely get to read much before getting a headache or finding the atmosphere too inhospitable to want to stay. What this means is that I dont get a chance to properly check out books before buying them, and often end up coming back to return the book because it wasnt what I wanted/needed. Overall, this isnt a place Id recommend. If Barnes & Noble is what youre aiming for, Ive found the one at the Palisades Mall to be much better (better selection, better atmosphere, fewer damaged books). Though, in general, Ive been finding myself increasingly unhappy with Barnes & Noble stores, and have preferred either shopping online, or with independent bookstores in person.
5th Avenue and 46th street location is convenient. Good selection of items, but if they dont have what youre looking for, they will order it for you. You can choose to have it delivered to your home or business or pick it up in any Barnes & Noble store. Starbucks with seating on upper level.
This is your typical Barnes and Noble...It has a good selection of magazines and a very good selection of books...It is located at the intersection of Rt. 300 and 17K in the town of Newburgh, NY.The staff is very friendly and, the are more than helpful in helping you find the book or periodical that you are looking for. Also there is the Starbucks cafe, which sells overpriced coffee, ect. They also have a great selection of Latte and coffee stained books for you to choose from.
Barnes and Noble has lost a long time customer. If I could rate it a zero I would.I am absolutely appalled by the site I saw a few days before Christmas. I saw a manager (didnt see her full name badge but her name started with an M) yelling at an off duty employee (I know she was off duty bc she had a name badge on but bags in hand to go out the door, didnt see what her name was though). The employee said she needed the next day off for a family emergency (late notice but it happens to the best of us). Instead of being understanding the manager involved then proceeded to yell in her face for a whole 5 minutes saying it was unacceptable and she would just HAVE to come in. (In front of numerous customers and employees). The employee didnt yell back or raise her voice (I know I would have). Instead she apologized offered to switch shifts with someone on another day and went home.I stood there for a good 5 minutes afterwards just baffled. I put my books down and walked out. Retail sucks, but to see a MANAGER (or any person) treat an employee that way, for something so out of the employees control, was revolting.
I just left the Barnes and noble store in Newburgh . I am so disgusted how the young lady named “Michelle” not sure if she gave me her real name - behind the register acted . She not only made smart remarks but then when she asked for payment , I told her “don’t you need my number ?” She then acted surprised and said “are you a member ?” She appeared like she didn’t want to be at work or was just not in the mood . No reason to treat customers this way . I have a membership with Barnes and Noble and I ended up leaving my items because of this experience.
I called in 4 them to hold something rather late on holiday and they put it on hold and put it behind the counter, everybody there was absolutely awesome they knew were stuff actually was which nowadays is really rare so yes I definitely recommend Barnes & Noble in Newburgh
I remember when B&N opened in Newburgh; it was like the best day of my life (I know Im a huge DORK). The staff are extremely helpful and kind and will not hesitate to help you find what you need. Ive spent countless hours here writing, reading, and editing. One of my favorite spots in Newburgh.
Customer service was not the best. I had a question about a book location and the lady looked right at me, but didnt say anything before going back to what she was doing. She finished up what she was doing on the computer and finally helped me, but with an attitude like I was bothering her.

2022-06-04Weve been to many B&N stores in multiple states over the years. It isnt so much that this particular store has changed, as it is the company as a whole has changed. Theres still a Starbucks. Theres still friendly service. The place is still clean and well organized. Whats lacking is the number of people they have to help you on the floor, and the amount of products they carry. I would love them to expand their selection of authors and create both a locals section, and a new authors section, as well.

2022-07-05I did not go there on 7/3 I walked past there over to TGIF for dinner. I have been at Barnes & Noble not recently. I have purchased books for myself and as gifts at Christmas time. They have an enormous selection of books for Adults, Seniors, & Children. They also have Audio books. They also have an area Music Related CDs, Vinyls, etc. For Children & Adults. They have an inside Cafe with Specialty Coffees, Cakes, Cookies, etcEnjoy you can spend a day looking

2022-04-25Yeah, so I asked the barista at the Starbucks and firstly they had HORRIBLE customer service. And they had a non employee in the back which is very unprofessional. She even told me she doesnt work here!!! But thats not the worse part… i went up to ask for scissors and not only did they deny my scissors immediately but they spoke behind my back making fun of my request. NEVER coming back. DO NOT RECOMMEND… food is also dry…

2020-12-24Great selection on the classics if you’re a collector! I would’ve liked to see a classic Frankenstein in store, but there were other options, like ordering it online. The store, even when at its busiest is spacious, and has plenty of people to help with whatever you’re looking for. There is something for everyone in here if you’re ever looking for a gift for yourself or others. I definitely recommend!

2019-02-19Barnes & Noble, in general, is an awesome experience. However, I personally do not care for some, in particular, mall-based locations. Newburgh is a stand-alone, single-level entity, which is bright, clean, and attractively layed out This is our second favorite B&N location (Paramus, NJ being #1).They do not have a used book section, but thats not a negative, because we can go to the Paramus, NJ location for that. Newburgh does have a good assortment of discounted books and games, and it seems we always purchase something from those. They also have a good selection of audio (including vinyl!) and video items.Newburgh does have a Starbucks concession with the usual, including tasty desserts. B&N Members get a 10% discount.RECOMMENDED 😎

2021-09-07First off, nice vinyl selection! Buy they really need to replenish the anime section. FYE no longer exists in Newburgh, so we only have B&N. That section was kind of disappointing and nothing was on sale. Overall the store was neat and clean, but the cashier didnt take the alarm off my item, making me ring while trying to leave. I only had 3 items, so I dont know why she forgot to do that.

2021-12-21Nice bookstore...It has a Starbucks in it. Very spacious. No issues finding the book I need. If they dont have it, theyll offer to order it for store pick up or delivery to your house

2022-03-12Nice Barnes and Noble to have one floor only.Clean. But they must upgrade their outlets to be USB compatible. Unfortunately things are the same. But I have additional information. Friday appears to be boogie nights. Difficult to read a book a this Barnes & Noble. Music is set at a pronounced level. Nice place for those in search of buying records.
