Good morning, I read a review that was written about the Housekeeping Manager and its hard to believe. My aunt is at Baypark and I visit often and I have had many interactions with Mr. Hubbard and he was always polite kind. I think he does a wonderful job. The place is 100% cleaner that a year ago. That person cannot be talking about the manager that’s at Baypark now.
Ive been visiting friends at this facility for several years. I have seen vast improvements regarding the staff and I love the continuing upgrades the building has received recently. No nursing facility is perfect. No one enjoys needing such a place for themselves or their loved ones. However, this place is clean, the food is relitively decent and the staff is professional and well supervised.
I am working at this facility over the past few months and my initial impression has not changed. Everybody here is nice and fun to be around. The staff are dedicated and passionate about what they do.You can tell that they put their hearts into their job. The staff here treat Bay Park and the residents as if it was their home and family.
My father is at this nursing home and upon my last visit he was locked in a room by a male employee (Jean) and another female nurse. This is a safety and fire hazard! Imagine coming to see your relative and they are locked in a room. I have photos of his door being locked from the outside and a massive bruise on this arm. The staff attempted to justify their actions. Now that I’ve reported his door being locked, both employees are retracting their statements, saying they don’t know how my dads door was locked from the outside. Moreover, administration is telling me that my father is now being aggressive and they will have to move him out. It’s ironic that these were not issues for years. However, now that they are in a bind they want to point the finger at my father’s behavior...but there are no records for 5+ years about my father being agressive.Be leary of this location. All of a sudden I get calls from the nurses, doctors, and head administrators. I live in MD and cannot make it up. If you send a loved one there be sure to visit frequently or they may abuse your loved one.
My father was abused and locked in his room in this facility. The head administrator, Akiva Shapiro assured me that one of the two employees were going to be fired. Not long after, Mr. Shapiro recommended that I take my father out of the facility and drop him off at a hospital...because the hospital would keep him until I found a placement of my liking. When I told Akiva Shapiro that this was not an ideal option, he proceeded to attempt to move my father to a facility in Massachusetts without my consent. He told me that he didnt need my my approval. Only with the help of a lawyer were we able to appeal and find another location in NYC.This is a sad state of affairs when bottom line and business are more important than engaging with a family to find the best suitable placement...doesnt even deserve the one star its getting by default.
My loved one was here for physical Rehabilitation and that person was abused by a nurse or staff member who name and title wasnt given to me. They were more than happy to take their time regarding their physical rehabilitation, but tried everything they could to make my loved ones last days there as miserable as possible. Not to mention their b/s rules and regulations that are enforced in a way that only protects the facilitys interests, so they could avoid being sued. But all those rules contradict each other and leaves the patients there at their mercy unless you are brave enough to speak up for yourself, despite the fear of their reprisals. Imagine being afraid of your caregivers spiteful actions just because you wanted your medication on time. Thats what it is like there.I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE NOR SOMEONE THEY CARE ABOUT TO EVER STAY THERE.
Not even a one star! Since my grandmother has been there she has caught phenomena, her cell phone was stolen, and now she has fallen out the bed! Mind you my family and I have repeatedly asked for rails so this would not happen! Facts #2, my grandma is in this horrible facility due to the fact that she fell and broke her hip! So she is helpless in this home! No one will call is back and NO ONE WILL HELP MY GRANDMOTHER! They leave the windows open knowing she has cancer and copd! The Director literally just saw my Aunt in the Hall way and turned and went the other way! I AM APPALLED!
Bay Park Center is AMAZING. We spent numerous days searching all over The Bronx for a facility where my mother could go to rehab after her stroke. We stumbled upon Bay Park--the best kept skilled nursing secret in The Bronx. The staff treats my mother as if she were their mother. We could not ask for a group of kinder or more compassionate group of people. I wish I could give it more that 5 stars.
The reviews are all scarily TRUE- this is where you send your recovering/elderly loved ones to die. If there is anything you take away from this, its GET THEM OUT OF HERE!! Talk to the social worker, talk to the administrator, PRESS THEM AND GET YOUR FAMILY OUT!Unfortunately, I learned it the hard way when I found out that Bay Park Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation killed my mother. My mother was forced to come here back in May 2016 after having extremely limited nursing home options that could accommodate her level of needed care - she had a foot amputation, tracheostomy and feeding tube (PEG) -and was extremely high-need and dependent on staff. Imagine, a person who is essentially bed-ridden and cant speak for themselves having to endure nursing staff that would sometimes leave her sitting in her feces for hours, tell her she was lying when she tried advocating that she couldnt breathe properly, and took HOURS to come see her when she rang her bell for help. Unfortunately, she really needed them one night when her trach became dislodged and, based on brain scans, our family learned she had been without oxygen for 1 hour! We also learned that staff hadnt checked in on her for 2.5 hours! When we pressed the nursing facility for answers, Nurse BROWN, the 3rd floor nursing administrator responded, I cant answer because I have a license to protect. No apology, no answers for what went down that evening, and she refused to tell us who was on duty supposedly taking care of Mom.When I asked to speak to the buildings Head Nursing Administrator, i was given some random number in which no voicemail was set-up guaranteeing that no one could get back to me. What a terribly understaffed, unprofessional nursing facility that clearly did not follow protocol and was not there for my mother when she needed them most. And absolutely nothing has changed or happened in response to it all. Its all so devastatingly sad that this institution is allowed to operate and can continue to abuse and kill more people. If you can help it, dont let your loved ones stay her and file your complaints wit the department of Health.
Wow. Having visited my friend in this facility, I must say that I am so impressed by the clean environment and efficient, caring staff. The food looks delicious and my friend is thrilled with her rehab there. As a therapist I definitely recommend this highly qualified facility for rehab.
I came into this place because NY only has inpatient rehabilitation in nursing homes. After my initial months of therap; where I was almost able to walk again, they stopped all therapy and never restarted.Social workers here are supposed to help you with issues such as money, setting you up completely, and, when time comes to help you return home or find housing.Ms situation doesnt allow me to go to assisted living or regular housing, so they didnt help at all. I was left to my own to TRY & find housing or ANY type of support. This place is more concerned with bottom line. If you come in here with no insurance, by the next day you have Medicaid. Your laundry pieces WILL be lost & not reimburst! You would be better off finding home assistance
Horrible, awful place that should be shut down immediately! All the reviews are true. We lived in Queens and my brother got placed here once he got real sick due to lung cancer. They were arguing with us about him leaving up until he was at the door, but I wouldnt leave him there another minute. Every person up to the director herself tried to convince us that he could not leave. The care is awful and its dirty. Please dont send anyone you know there.
One the best Rehab facility in the Bronx. The atmosphere is clean friendly and inviting, their rooms are large giving the patients plenty of space . The Nursing staff and Rehab department are top notch professionals and I wouldnt recommend any other place to go to except Bay Park.
Hello.... my mother was living at this facility this past year and I had a few interacting with the house keeping manager name Dwayne Hubbard. He was very rude and nasty to say the least. I wonder how a nice place such place like bay park would have such a horrible representation on their managing staff.
I do not recommend this place to anyone. My grand father was placed here when he was suffering from alzheimer. The times that i visit it seem like every patient was wondering around with no supervision. The patients range from alzheimer patient to mentally disabled intermingling and causing trouble for other patients. This place should have each floor organized according to the patients condition (ie. 2nd floor alzheimer patient only). Its a mad house and dirty. Keep your love ones away from this place.
I worked as the secretary to the Director of Nursing, she has no empathy for her staff or for the residents she represents. I was there when a resident came down to complain about a situation, she shooed him away like trash. I would not even give this facility a one star rating, they are only there to collect their paychecks with no regard to human decency.
The rating speaks for itself! Anyone that has a smigging of love for person that they are placing in this facility should look for someplace else or leave them where they are if at all possible because person will not receive the care which they need. Most people that are there indefinitely have been abandoned by their relatives..(not able to care for thier love ones...one way or another) choosing the easy way out and not doing their research that this place is a peep into hell! For all the workers at this place...YOUR TIME WILL COME WHEN ITS YOUR TURN TO BE TREATED LIKE YOU TREAT THE PEOPLE THAT ARE UNDER YOUR CARE!!!
The care at this facility is HORRIBLE! my brother is a patient at this rehab and to be honest the staff is very rude! They have no respect for the patients or their families. They were only attentive when family my family was present. They roll their eyes if you ask them any questions or simply ignore them
I could not even put less than 1 star. The nurse took my Grandfather out of the bed contrary to Doctors order and left him unattended and he fell. The next person who entered the room found him on the floor face first. Meanwhile there was trash all over his room, which I have pictures of, and they tried to clean it up when I arrived with my Mom. They will be hearing from my lawyer.
If I could give this place anything lower than one star I would a thousand times over, This place is dank and depressing and the elderly here are treated as burdens more so than people all tended to by unprofessional, moody and just outright RUDE staffing. Ones Whom need to highly reconsider their reasonings as to why they entered the healthcare field pertaining to the elderly and disabled.
I agree a HORRIBLE PLACE, should of been shut down years ago...and the staff are the worse...i wish you all plenty sleepness nights. I don’t know why the city did not shut this place down the staff don’t do their jobs some of them are rude and disrespectful and the place is not clean and smell horrible God sees all you will reap what you sow.

2018-05-16My grandmother spent 5 weeks at this facility after a pelvic fracture. The service was outstanding. The PT and OT were extremely professional. The therapists were kind, caring. The nursing care was impeccable!! My grandmother even loves the food. The facility was clean, and did not smell like a nursing facility. I would highly recommend that this is the place to entrust your loved one.

2019-05-17The facility is horrible. Construction is going on around patients. The rooms are unsanitary. The staff including the director John McKay are completely unprofessional. No one knows what the other is doing. They pass the buck, make excuses, and never follow through on anything. My mother has been there for approximately 6 weeks for rehab due to hip surgery. Since there, she has bed assaulted, had her phone stolen, fell 3 times, was basically starved for three days with no one thinking to give her an IV for fluids. She went from 110 lbs to 97 lbs. The nurses station on her floor is always empty. You can hear people calling for help verbally and ringing their bells to no avail. My mother asked for help to walk to the bathroom she was told to urinate in her diaper. She is being treated with a lack of respect and dignity. That facility needs to be investigated and shut down. I vow to pursue the closing of that facility!! Do not allow your loved ones to go there, its not suited for human beings!!

2018-09-21Our Mom has been in your facility for over three months and my family wants to express our thanks and gratitude for all your caring staff who daily attends to her needs. she has been on the third , eleventh, and sixth floor and was treated with dignity and love on each floor. We want to particularly highlight the male nurse Mr. B who works on the third floor. We observed he is very committed to his job. hes calm, but thorough approach to his duty is to be highly commended. Once again, thanks to you and your staff for a wonderful job.

2018-05-25My mother went into Bay Park in late January and she had nothing but the best care you could ask for. The physical therapy staff helped her gain her strength back, the nurses provided her with the care and attention she needed and she made a lot of good friends there. Her 2 months there was nothing less than exceptional. She was very happy with everyone and enjoyed the three meals a day she got. Everyone was so attentive to her needs and helped in more ways than one. She regained most of her strength back and gave me more time with my mom. Thank you to everyone at Bay Park . I will definitely recommend them to anyone who needs it.

2018-02-27I have been to this nursing home many times and I can tell you that they are a bunch of extremely hard working employees. I know for a fact that they do not tolerate disgruntled employees or employees that do not meet the standards of providing exceptional patient care. I had an issue with a staff that was caring for my family and once I reported the issue it was IMMEDIATELY addressed. They have an exceptional wound care team that I highly recommend.Reading these other negative reviews does not represent what my experience were at this facility. The nursing staff go above and beyond, the Nursing department gets high praise for their compassion and dedication to providing good care and advocate for their patients. The review written by AUBREY ROACHE APPEARS TO BE FROM A DISGRUNTLED, recently terminated semi-professional individual that you encounter at many jobs. Every business arent for everyone so find the one that best suits you. Good luck.

2018-05-01What a special caring group of staff you have here! You have showed our loved one immense patience throughout this difficult journey we are all new to.A special thank you to the nurses and CNAs who go above and beyond every day! On a side note the housekeeping staff do a great job at keeping such a big facility clean, It does not smell like a nursing home.

2018-05-10Theyve worked hard to improve both the appearance and the quality of care. There are so many amazing people here, from the CNAs to the nurses to dietary staff to the administration. Every time I come to visit there are activities, musics, and very engaged residents. I was there yesterday and saw how well the staff interacted with the residents.

2018-03-23A little bumpy start but all issues were resolved by a courteous and professional staff. I always find my grandmother clean, and happy. She seems well cared for. I live in another state so staff is always willing to take the time to speak with me and even put my grandmother on the phone. I am very satisfied with the service

2019-09-20Today 9/20/2019 i arrived to this facility to see my dad at approximately 0830am to help my dad speak to administration over some concern he had. So i press the call button to get someone to help me transport my dad downstairs, waited about 10minutes for someone to show up. The wait was to long for a call button my dad has COPD and in need of oxygen. So they bring me a wheel chair with no way to carry the oxygen tank at this time a hour later they tell me to bot push my dad and push the tank myself when i ask for help they smile and walked away. Thats the begining when i got in the elevator it was difficult to position the wheelchair and the oxygen tank at this point a employee from this facility believed that i was a residant and started getting a attituted with me and telling me to move and i told her i cant with the tank and the wheelchair when i ask do you work here she witha attitutr YES and what and we both got into a argument and she refuse to give me a name and i told her im a visitor she got very nasty. When i was on the first floor i told come out the elevator because i was going to report her she left. I was able to talk to administration but felt unsatisfied because i spoke to them before nothing was done. I spoken to the social services nothing was done. I resquested to move my dad to a closer facility nothing been done. My dad is being abuse verbally by residents and employees and no one helps and nothing is done. By what i experienced today these employees or disrespectful and nasty and dont care about they residents because if they could treat and assume i was a resident and act in that matter how do they treat our love ones.
