BCD Tofu House in other cities:
Soft tofu was good, however, kimchi pork with tofu and spicy raw crab were not so good. Especially, I would not recommend crab because it’s really bad. When I was young, I used to eat my mom’s or neighbor’s raw crab dishes and I do know the taste. Their spicy raw crab is a joke. Please do not waste your money. Rice was not served in stone ware as advertised, so it was disappointing. Side dishes were not good quality. (There is another store in Bayside and their food and service are much better, though I have never tried raw crab there.)They need to improve the bathrooms too as it was very smelly like urine near the stairs.Overall, I will not visit this location in the future. I’m willing to drive to Bayside and have a better experience at there.
I love me a good, hot korean style soup/stew and rice meal set! BCD tofu house is a great option if you like soondubu jjiggae. They have a good spread of banchans also. I really like the fried fish LOL 😂Obviously, they’re known for their soondubu hence the name, but they have a few non soup options too. For the soondubu, if you decide to go for it, they have many iterations of it from seafood, to pork, kimchi, etc. It’s super packed full of flavor and so good with rice. You can also customize the spiciness level. Medium is usually enough for me, just enough spice to know it is there. I would say medium is maybe less spicy than a shin ramen? It comes out in a ddukbaegi and continue to bubble for a few minutes. They will also give you a raw egg for your stew so you’re into a soft poached egg in your stew, make sure you crack yours in right away before you loose all the heat. The soup is also served with rice. It’s such a great option for a cold winter day, or sometimes even a super late night when you need some comfort food when they used to be open 24hours (they still open until pretty late though). Highly recommend.
Yood tofu place in NYC, but my favorite tofu place is in. BCD is a famous franchise in the US across different states. However, I only give this place a four star due to subpar service my friend and I received. Lady came in for our order after like 1 minute we sat down. CHILL LADYY WE JUST WASHED OUR HANDS MAN
Stopped by here with my sister at her recommendation. A really good one at that, lots of banchan, all very good! Staff is nice, I loved their spicy soft tofu stews, and I learned for the first time that the egg they gave you in the beginning is to be cracked into the bubbling stew as soon as you get it haha. But overall very good, very filling, and no fuss no frills.
Good to visit when you want to try Korean Tofu place. Not very spicy but decent taste. Cold noodle was also yummy 🍜 . My family enjoyed the plates. Service was fine. As same as in the BCD in Korea. A bit crowded but acceptable regarding the place right behind ESB. Easy to approach.
Good food!Their danger hot sauce for soups is no joke…I ordered from other korean places before, rarely do you get one that is actually spicy spicy.. but this one is spicy and i love it!! Altho i may tone it down and see what the regular hot is about hahahbibimbap was one of the better ones i had in ny
Delicious Korean food, especially for their tofu soup. Really enjoy the variety of sides and how they give you refills when ask. If you can come during lunch time, before 3, prices and combos are cheaper. Would recommend if you are looking for a great spot to hang in k-town.Ordered oyster soondubu and the pork with pepper combo
BCD Tofu House has the best soondubu I’ve ever had. It’s flavorful, has enough heat, and is just so good. We had the beef where the pieces were tender and the tofu silky smooth. Must grab a soondubu if you’re here! The Oh Jing Uh Bok Eum was a surprise! I didn’t know what to expect when it came out but once it came out, we couldn’t stop eating. The udon is chewy and the squid was well seasoned. Definitely a good pick. Not pictured was To Pok Ki (rice cakes). It was good but not worth ordering. Very basic and can make at home. Don’t waste stomach space when you can grab all the other delicious entrees! 🤤🤤100% will come again when I visit New York.
Great food. The line outside is a little ridiculous but it does move at a decent pace. The bugolgi was really tasty and the sides were decent. The kimchi was great it was spicy but flavorful first. Very forgiving kimchi that added lots of flavor. They were out of Korean beers but had some Asani. Would def make it back again to Ty the other dishes they had. But overall no different from other Japanese BBQ I’ve had
Food is great, but service is brusk. I went with a friend right before the lunch rush at around 11:45. There is outdoor dining available and they are now checking if youve received your vaccines, which is a big plus for me. We ordered the cold noodle combo lunch special which included grilled short ribs and the bulgogi tofu soup lunch combo. It was around $22 to $24 an order. The included sides had seaweed, preserved daikon, kimchi, fried fish and marinated broccoli. Overall, a great lunch place!
Average. I know its really famous but honestly its more american-korean food. Didnt really have all the flavors of korean bibimbap. The seafood pancake was amazing but even the kimchi and the side plates were really lacking of a lot of taste. The staff is really nice, attentive and kind. But the food, very over-rated
BCD has always been a favorite of mine! This location is pretty similar to the one in Queens. I usually get one of their combos, like LA galbi with spicy tofu stew. The prices are pretty fair and the food is always great. I do have to note that the banchan quality isn’t quite as good as some other restaurants in the area, but they’re decent. This is still comfort food for me and I’m always happy to come back.
Been here many times and it’s always consistent. Locals come here on their own to eat, so you know it’s the real deal. Curry soondubu (one level down from their spiciest choice) is the most flavorful of the soondubu’s! My friend ordered the Meat Soondubu and was underwhelmed.Came around 7/8pm on a Tuesday night (2 people), walked in with no reservation and was seated immediately. They do get busy though on other days so expect a wait.
Tofu stew is the typical dish and the seafood pancakes are great with or without the dipping sauce. The lunch specials are pretty reasonably priced and offered as a combo of tofu and one more dish. It is popular and the waiting line can be quite long. So be planned before going. The side dishes are delicious as well. If you like those, feel free to ask for more. They come without further charges.
Solid soondubu place! i ordered their kimchi soon tofu (“soft” tofu with broth) with meat, and it came bubbling hot and extremely tasty. i ordered it “spicy” and it was definitely the right choice. their broth has a robust flavor and their tofu has the perfect consistency and texture. it may be one of the best soondubu places in the city. their sides were also decent. all around if you’re a korean food lover, this place is a must.
Came here with my friends. Before ordering the crab, I asked if I had to peel it myself, and the waitress confirmed twice that I didnt. Presumably she didnt understand my question, as it came loaded with shell and no meat. I would like to add that the waitress came as soon as we sat down and rushed us to order. Two of the three things I wanted werent available that day, which added to the stress. At the end of our meal, the waitress said that their machine didnt work. No problem, the meal was $92, we had an $100 bill. Admittedly, I usually tip at least 15%, double the tip for this meal, but I wasnt going to run to an ATM as a Canadian, pay $4 on top of a 5% foreign exchange rate to get $20 to pay a tip, especially since Im losing out on the convenience of paying by card, and reaping my credit card rewards, on an already tight schedule. We asked the waitress for a picture, she counted the tip first, murmured at it, and then took the worst picture I have ever seen in my life. With no service throughout the meal, no card payment, no water refills, not understanding my order, the fact that the tip was almost 10% is probably standard anyways. I would avoid this place if you value your dignity. Its not like I didnt have money to spare for them, I flew there and back from Toronto within 24 hours, and just wanted a quick meal. Entitled establishment.
Vegetarian Dumplings are great, and the jaapche noodles are good too! A little bit disappointed as they accidentally put the fish on the table that looked like tofu slices and I ate it, so I’d suggest reassure your plate before grabbing anything to eat! But the service was really quick.
The food here was great with good quality, service, and pricing! Went with my friends and they all said it worth recommending. I love Korean food myself and this is a great place. I would definitely come back and bring my family to try next time. Definitely should try this place if your looking for a Korean restaurant.
Food: Galbi was tender. Tofu stew was flavourful. I think the rice portion with the Tofu was a bit small. The side dishes were pretty good. Minus 1 point for personal preference, I think the variety of side dishes served wasnt as varied as Im used to. Their kimchi is fresh and very good. 4 or 5 / 5. Price was reasonable.Service: Excellent. Waitress kept my glass full of cold water. She was attentive and polite. The food arrived promptly, and she ran my credit card quickly.Atmosphere: its what you would expect from a normal Korean restaurant. Loud due to patrons, but any popular restaurant would be. Restaurant was clean, and AC was strong (it was a hot day).4.5 / 5, I would recommend, and I would come again!
Its ok... The service is super fast and prices are actually pretty good for Manhattan. The portions were a good size especially the kalbi. The beer selection is very limited but they did have a decent selection of sho-ju (spelling?)Make sure you put your order in clearly as our waitress tried to impose on us 2 dishes we did not order. For a quick NY minute I thought wed be stuck with them as she was so insistentAll in all...no wait time, relatively inexpensive, and good food.
Top notch. Was craving Kimchi and was very satisfied. The spicy pork is lovely I’m very sensitive to see or eat some grizzle it turns me off a little. But it was very tasty. I wish they would take a little more time when cutting pork to look and feel the fatty hardest parts and then give even less if need be. Quality over quantity. I don’t like to have to look at the pork before I put it in my mouth. Cut all hard fat grizzle / bone off before cooking. If wasn’t for that would be 5* very tasty.
Dont even try to order to go here. The staff here is super rude. They will ignore you. They ask you how many people, but as soon as you say you want to order to go they ignore you. You ask for the menu and they ignore you. I wonder if they even speak English. Went next door to the food gallery and had Korean House instead. Cheaper price, better food and much better service. Save yourself the headache and dont give them any business if theyre not going to respect you as a patron.
Food is so good! I stopped in on my way home out of curiosity. The kimchi soondubu hit the spot after a long day of studying. It was a good spice level, a lot of tofu and they even left the egg off like I asked! (Some places wont) If youre looking for good Korean comfort food this is the place! (Also they have the good rice punch (비락식혜))
The mixed tofu soup with seafood and meat is always delicious! Loved the spiciness, and how fresh it was. I came in the afternoon with my mom and was seated right away. I’ve tried the Galbi in the past and it was yummy. I would recommend anyone to try this place in ktown. The flushing location is fantastic too.
We went around 11:00am today… and we saw the waitress take some sauce from a another table, and she then proceeded to pass it along to us. To clarify, sauce was not in a dispenser but small uncovered cups. We didn’t touch the sauce. When she cleared our table, she took the cups and covered it with a napkin at her station presumably for the next customers. The food was decent, but it’s hard to feel comfortable about its handling beforehand.
I order take out once in a while from BCD. The food is reasonablely good, but the service has got very poor. I met a really rude front desk server today when picking up my order. As soon as he started to talk to me, he seemed super annoyed and rolled his eyes on me. He yelled and treated me like a 3 year old. Come on!!! The store was almost empty and there was no loud background music! I didn’t expect much good service from a fast food restaurant, but this weird experience really amazed me.
BCD is a ktown staple and this is my go to place for fast-casual style meal. The service is always 10/10 and food never disappoints. My favorite part is the fried mackerel as part of the complimentary appetizers. The tofu soup with pork is usually my go to but I tried the seafood this time and it was also good. My friend for the hot stone bibimbap which you can never go wrong with either.
On point!!! We were 4 adults and ordered 3 dishes and they come with the unlimited side dishes.........so YUMMY! We spent $20 each and we were FULL! Only thing they didnt have was the rice wine, so we got some across the street at H Mart for later. But we ordered the stew, a regular sized pancake that was FULL of seafood and the Bulgogi w/glass noodles. Kimchi was fresh and spicy (not super fermented)...so GOOD! Also huge inside, so we were able to be tucked into a corner upstairs and felt like we could have a semi private dining experience despite feeling like wed get COVID the moment we entered from downstairs (close tables, and tons of ppl).. will definitely RETURN.
I love the food here. The food tastes the same as the 1st BCD on Vermont and 7th in Los Angeles. I have been a regular customer since early 2,000.I wish the BCD adapts the American style service since the restaurants operate in the U.S. and demands customers the equivalent 15% to 20% tips as the servers in TGIF, Dennys, Minis, Olive Garden, etc. The servers in American restaurants hustles (in a good way). I strongly believe that most of the well-trained servers in American restaurants deserve the 15%-20% tip.On the other hand, BCD servers come short in service both in California and in New York but they suggest 15 to 20% tip... The BCD servers take order, bring out food and bill without a proactive SERVICE that one may receive in Olive Gardens for example. If that deserves 15 to 20% tip, then what about those who hustle and bustle in American restaurants? I love it when waitress/waiters come by my table and ask me how I am doing while I am dining with smile. This is the advance service mind that I recommend BCD to adopt. If the ones who hustle and bustle take home 15 to 20%, how much should the one who do the bare minimum take home?
OMG DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT ORDER TOFU SOUP/ Any soup with spicy level “HOT” or “DANGER” I’m so used to western food so I always make spicy level “hot” or extra spicy but if you haven’t tried Asian food before, DO NOT order spicy. Just don’t 😭 please don’t. I almost died here but I give 4-5 stars because the food is good 😂 but when they mean “spicy”, it is spicy. I will come again. Just not order….. spicy 😭
I’ve always wanted to try this restaurant from always buying their soup products at the market, and I finally got to! This place was sooo satisfying after a full music festival day. We were told it would take 30 minutes before we get seated, but it was no more than 10 minutes. We ordered a soup each, kimchee pancake (which I would skip next time), spicy pork, bulgogi, and kalbi. We definitely ordered too much but it was great leftovers for the next day. The banchan was solid, especially that fried fish! The soup I had was mild and with beef, it was delicious and so satisfying that I finished the entire thing. All the meats were solid too. There are levels of spiciness for your soup ranging from nothing to danger. My friend tried danger and it was too spicy for him surprisingly. The bill was about $280 (including tips) for the 4 of us and worth it! Will be back :) or just buying more of your soups in stores! Also they have deals in the restaurant, where they were selling packaged soup products for $1.75! Originally they’re almost $4, but it was sold out when we asked about it, so keep an eye out :)
Flavorful Korea joint in the heart of Korean Town, reasonable prices, all the usual Korean Menu fare ... the day I was there, the air conditioning was subpar and it was quite warm inside ... I suspect once the air conditioning starts in full force, it will be fine ...Update post covid: Nov 2021
Delicious restaurant that serves mainly soft tofu soup! Choice of soondooboo jjigae with meat, seafood, veg, dumplings etc and served with a hot bowl of rice, variety of banchan, and fried fish starter. Per person comes to around $13-15. We had our soups regular spicy and probably could have handled more. Place fills up quite a bit but tables move quickly.
If you’re Korean, you know you want this the day after a heavy drinking session 😌 My favorite is the seafood soondubu and my friends love the kimchi flavor. Also, their LA galbi is amazing!! I get the soondubu and galbi combo all the time. Also that little whole fried yellow croaker fish they give you at the beginning? Don’t be shy and try it. It’s my favorite thing.
I had really high expectations for this place considering its popularity in the west coast and the number of reviews but I thought that the jjigae wasnt very flavourful - Ive had much better soondubu jjigae in northern virginia/California. the staff members were very sweet and prompt with their service!
Superb place for authentic Korean food that doesnt burn a hole in your wallet. We had lunch here today and it was a pleasant experience. The staff were very nice and thr choices for food was limited but sufficient. The food was served fresh and the server kept on refilling our sides which was pretty good. Recommend it for anyone in the area.
Cold weather calls for Korean Tofu Soup. I have tried all BCD Tofu House places in nearby area NJ & NY. This place has the best amongst all BCD Tofu House places. They are also in the heart of Korea Town which also make them special. Pictures of Menu and food are provided for reference. They also have vegetarian Tofu Soups. Banchans are also little different from place to place. We liked them here too. We also ordered vegetarian Dumplings. Food was delicious.Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Recommend this place if you are in neighborhood.
Their tofu is so soft and delicate and unlike any Ive ever had. They also have a more generous and better selection of ban chan than other places Ive been to. They also offer free refills of the ban chan and service is very quick.Their menu can be small, but everything on there is good. During weekdays at lunch time they feature a lunch set for about 20 bucks that comes with rice, tofu stew, and a sizzling meat plate of your choice, ie bulgogi, etc. Their fried tofu salad appetizer is also one of my favorites! The peanut sauce they use as dressing is very good.
BCD tofu house is known for their tofu and when it comes to that, they definitely don’t disappoint. Most of the other dishes are pretty average tho. Although I have to say that I do appreciate the fact that they serve a fried yellow croaker as part of the banchan.I would recommend their lunch combos as they’re a pretty good bargain as for an average of 20$ per person you get a main dish and a tofu soup. The dubu kimchi is pretty good and flavorful, but I’d recommend you to get a side of regular vegetable tofu soup instead of the mixed one, as it pairs a bit better (at least to me). Be aware that mild spice is still pretty spicy if you’re not used to the heat. The spicy pork is pretty good, although not the best I’ve had - especially as far as meat qualityI would definitely go back for their lunch deals as they also have dolsot bibimbap, la galbi as well as bulgogi, and even grilled fish. Not too shabby, but definitely not the best KTown has to offer.
Great place for delicious Korean cuisine at a really affordable price! The portions are very generous, my friend and I failed to finish our lunch combos.. And we are such big eaters! They would refill all the side dishes for free. Loved both the food and the service. The staff all speak English and Korean btw.
Real Deal Korean!!!...This place is amazing!!!! Loved our experience. Wait staff was great, even wanted to wait on us faster than we were ready for.We were immediately sat down after calling ahead. Had some great Korean beer and sake. We then had the tofu soup, spicy pork bulgogi, bulgogi, short ribs, and spicy octopus. All of it was amazing. Would love to have a place like this at home.
This Korean BBQ place was so good but be warned there is often a wait. They told us 40 minutes when we got there, but called us within 10 minutes and not all of our group was there so they seated another party instead. We were called within 20 minutes of our arrival though, and the food was worth the wait. Only disappointment is you don’t get to cook the bbq yourself at this spot. But the prices, food, service and experience were all great. I’d recommend to friends.
Food: From an Asian perspective, the tofu soups are amazing. The variety and quality of the free banchan (side dishes) are also impressive, featuring authentic kimchi and rare dishes such as fried fish and beef. Having been to Korea, we also feel that the food here is better than many of the restaurants in Korea.Price: A meal here is affordable ($12.99+ for a tofu soup during lunch) and filling. Hyeonmicha (tea) is also served free-of-charge.Service: The efficiency of the staff rivals that in a fastfood restaurant. Banchan was served within a minute after placing our orders. The first dish came after another 3 minutes, and all the tofu soups we ordered were on our table by the 8-minute mark. The lady attending to us was also friendly and polite. Despite the long line at the door, we were never rushed to finish food quickly.Downside: Waiting in line for a table can be long and unpleasant, especially given the small doorway. Waiting time ranges from 10 to 60 minutes depending on the size of your group.
Nice Korean food! They have free small dishes and a fried fish for free. We got a bbq beef and a spicy seafood tofu soup. The portion was pretty good and the flavor is right on point! The beef was not dry and the soup was full of clams and all types of seafood, giving it a nice yummy taste.Would like to try more but the wait can be quite long here for dinner. Recommend coming for lunch. Nice service throughout.
I went to this place like 4 times already. I like the tofu soft as hell, and the soup is enchanting with the smell. In addition, it comes with side dishes (banchan). You can never get tired of it, since you can ask for seconds for the side dishes. The wait time is not that long. It would take you less than 40 minutes to get a table of 1 or 2 if you are planning to go dine in. One of the best korean restaurants for me. Totally worth the price one is paying for.
We went in without any reservations and seated without any wait time. I believe you can’t make online reservations.I ordered a hot stone bibimbap with no spice. It comes with a tofu and seafood soup. You’ll have a vegetarian option: all vegetarian or mixed (vegetarian & seafood). Pricing is about $22.Overall the food is pretty good. The soup was delicious. The only downfall are their appetizer. I didn’t like their appetizer at all. It’s missing the bean sprouts, sweet potato and others compared to other Korean restaurant. Service was ok. Our waitress was quite busy at times and didn’t have the chance to refill our cup.
This BCD is one of my fav out of 10+ locations Ive visited across the States. The service is always great and then the food, of course, was delicious.During covid, the outdoor dining was setup quite nicely and safely, with proper panels separating tables. The take out food were also very well packed!
Nice Korean Restaurant in Korea Street!!!Staffs are friendly and foods are delicious. If you are Korean, you can enjoy Korean foods just like in Korea, but a little of expansive price than in Korea. If you are not Korean, you can enjoy Korean traditional foods in a reasonable price in NYC.
Pretty over priced, but very good Korean food indeed, though it is undoubatably on the sweet side to suite the foreign taste buds. The service was rather rushed though, with the guys cleaning the tables always in your face. They also managed to throw away my lion king playbill which as my only souvenir while I went to the bathroom... very chaotic in there.
Came here for lunch with some friends on a Friday. The place was quite busy but they still had quite alot of seats on their second floor.Got their Doenjang soondubu jjigae (soy bean paste soft tofu stew) in the .... danger spicy level... @w@.... Was dying while eating it but it was still very good 🌶🌶🥵. Their seafood pancake was also very good 👍. The texture of the pancake was nice and crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, with a good amount of seafood pieces here and there.Overall a good experience (but I think I will get just regular hot spicy... instead of the danger 😅).
This place was awesome! For the portions, the prices are beyond reasonable- especially the combos. We had the bibimbap and spicy pork combo and they were so delicious. The banchan offered were all delicious as well and they even serve you the fried croaker fish.Service was really fast and friendly.Highly recommend
Best spicy stir fried squid I’ve ever had—absolutely amazing flavor and perfectly cooked squid that wasn’t too spicy (perhaps they can add some heat for those who’d like a whole plate of fire). The side dishes were wonderful, as well. My wife had the pork tofu soup and really enjoyed it—called it “comfort food.” Will definitely be back.
Being a complete ignorant to Korean food in this place doesnt help. The menu explains the dish ingredients but it does not explain the costumes or the way how dishes are prepared. It is better to have a basic understanding of the culture to enjoy the experience... For instance, it is better if you know how to eat using chopsticks, and enjoy eating fermented food like kimchi. Other than that. Food is beautifully prepared and presented.I specially loved the different options they have for tofu soup.
I placed a pick-up order and the estimated ready time is 17:18. I arrived at there and was told they are preparing. Then I continue waiting for more than an hour. At 18:32, they told me they havent begin preparing my order. Thats so ridiculous. They are super slow and also lying.Thats a pick up order, no one will stand there waiting for more than one hour for pick up some food.
Best tofu soup Ive ever had. I had the beef tofu soup option and my sister had the dumpling tofu soup. Both were great but we both agreed that that the beef option was better. I had the spiciest level and it was delicious. Oh I must not forget the complimentary fried fish you get before you meal, it was delicious. I also recommend for you to try the Korean beer. I had the OB and it was refreshing and paired perfectly with my spicy tofu soup. Highly recommend it is worth the wait in line. Will be coming back every time I visit NYC.
Best japchae and soon dubu i’ve had! the japchae was really surprising because since it is a tofu house, i assumed their other items would not be as good but i was gravelyyyy mistaken. the kimchi soon dubu was so flavorful and great for a cold day. i usually don’t like soon dubu but i would definitely come back for these two dishes. the side dishes and service were also amazing - they kept refilling out side dishes without us asking. highly highly recommend :)[food insta: @strwbrrryboba :)]
I will continue to return here again and again. Hands down the BEST Korean food and service! There is always a wait but they move quickly and it’s always worth the wait! Don’t be alarmed by the crowd waiting, the food is really THAT GOOD! I always order the Beef Soontofu Spicy (no noodles) and rice. Every meal comes with a small fried fish (BEST fish you’ll ever munch on yum!!) and other delicious Korean snacks (kimchi, macaroni & cheese, veggies, etc). We always order the Peach flavored Soju because it’s a perfect accompaniment to this meal! I struggle to order new items from the menu because the Beef Soontofu is THAT DELICIOUS but I definitely will try other items next visit. I’ve brought so many people here to try this food and even wanted to come here for my birthday dinner. I only wish there was a BCD Tofu House uptown closer to home! I can’t wait to go back!
Dine-in is a quick and pleasant experience. We had Seafood Tofu:/ mild and Pork Tofu/medium hot peppers. The tofu was the silky, melt-in-your mouth organic kind that was pleasantly without any after-taste. The flavors were subtle but delightful. Four-star because they hand out only one paper napkin when requested for extra ones. Remember that Vaccination cards have to be presented in orders to dine-in in NYC.
Really great and authentic korean food in the center of Manhattan. I ordered Jab Chae and the dinner combo Bimbimbab. It was really really good except that the quality of service was poorer than a fast food restaurant. They threw plates of food with us like we are animals. The server do not smile and service us at all. We asked for more kimchi since its a complimentary ie. you can get unlimited refill, but instead they wait for actual food to come because they are probably scared we are gonna eat all their side dishes. What an expensive restaurant but so arrogant and stingy. I really hope they improve the service considering the highest gratuity they wrote on the bill was 25%. What a place.
Authentic Korean restaurant. I had a bibimbap combo with soup. Together with the side dishes that will be served anyway, I could hardly finish everything.Delicious, you may choose hot/mild, and the atmosphere is very friendly. In my view they use too much tofu (but hey, this is no complaint, but somehow in the place’s name) and the gochujang sauce is very mild (I like the more spicier ones better). The Korean beer was good, the kimchi, too.The music was a bit too loud for me, and the a/c made me freezing that day.The place could be in Seoul without changing any detail. Perfect!
Worse service and management. Came and ask if they have special dishes and the answer was yes just ask when you have a table. I waited for one hour for a table. After asking the waiter what can we eat they say nothingI couldnt believe that the only word they said is sorry. This is not the way.
This place is excellent with awesome food and service. The cold appetizers are good and they even offer us two rounds of appetizers. We ordered seafood tofu soup, pork belly barbecue and Jap chae. All three of them taste beyond my expectation. The rice is sticky and of high quality too.
The wait was long despite it being a Monday night. However, the food was worth the wait. It was delicious and I left feeling super full. It was full of flavor and spice. It was perfect and exactly what I was craving. The staff was super helpful. I would definitely come back.
Ive been going to this place for a few years at this point and the food is always delicious. My go to order is the Soft Tofu Stew which hits the spot. On my most recent trip I order the Raw Marinated Crab and OH MY GOD. Ive been missing out!!Side dishes are always great and service goes above and beyond!
All of this lunch set for $13 pre-tax. You have to be super hungry to finish all this. Everything tastes wonderful - fresh yummy tofu, customizable spiciness, the sides are great.Service is also outstanding. The moment you sit, water is served in seconds. Less than five minutes in, you get everything.
This is literally the best Korean food place Ive ever been to for the price. Disclaimer: Im not Korean, so I cant speak on the authenticity of the food, but boy is it delicious. The bon chon is absolutely delicious, and they provide endless refills, (they serve sliced hamburger pickles with ice cubes, kind weird but whatever) and the value you get for you dollar is off the charts. I came in a party of four, and we thought the food was portioned per person, but its not. Each portion is massive and can easily feed 2 very hungry people, and is probably 4 normal sized servings. We finished less than half of what we ordered, but thats our fault, and we would definitely visit here again. The pork/beef with kimchi sauce and tofu is absolutely delicious, and for only 17 dollars, its probably also one of the cheapest for its size in Ktown.
Excellent in all aspects of food, quality, quantity, service and price. $12.99 for lunch beef tofu stew. Its more than enough food for 2 people, but you have to be careful because its so tasty that you are likely going to overeat and finish everything yourself and regret later because you cant sit down for an hour and have to walk around to keep the food down while still thinking about what to order next time.
Went there with my friend for dinner. I got seated and wanted to order this combo from the menu, then I was told that the combos are not available and that I should order them separately. Okay. No biggie. So I looked over to the entrée side. It says all entrées include side dishes, but it’s not made clear on the menu what the side dishes are. So I asked the waiter what it was, she looked at me as if I was a crazy person. Took a few more attempts to get the info that the side dishes are different everyday. Still didn’t answer my question. But fine. When they brought the side dishes in, it had two deep fried fishes.(I’m allergic to fish) I wish it was made more clear before the food was brought to the table. There’s a very small disclaimer at the edge of the menu saying the food preparations may contain (insert common allergens here). The entree itself was not bad and had pretty big portions. So naturally I wanted to box it up when I couldn’t finish it. They just handed me the box to do it ourselves, didn’t even box it up for us or anything.Needless to say I’m not coming back.
Really friendly staff with generous portions. When we were stuck between ordering an awkward number of appetizers between 5 friends, the servers offered to give us larger portions of everything to make things work out nicer (at a reasonable price increase, of course). The food was delicious and came with a pre-course of fried fish. Would definitely come back.
I am providing a good review based on the food, value and service. All good. But this is NOT a vegan friendly restaurant or cuisine as a warning to customers despite Tofu house in the name. They WILL put multiple, confusing non vegan items that you did not order on your table. And to the staff here: when you have a confused white customer who orders a vegan dish, PLEASE do not assume they will want the yellow croaker, multiple raw eggs, and anchovies. This creates a pretty distressing experience for us. I know it is a traditional cultural side dish, but it cannot hurt to ask. I feel that that isnt too much to ask, especially when vegan entrees are ordered.
Classic Korean tofu house with multiple floors of indoor seating and curbside outdoor seating currently available as of October 2021. Their menu is a highlight reel of Korean classic dishes, but, youre really here for their tofu soup that range in levels of spicy from plain white not spicy to danger levels.Everything was served boiling hot so proceed with caution when the food finally arrives atvyour table.
BCD Tofu House is my favorite restaurant in NYC! They have such a great variety on their menu, their food is always delicious and filling as well as their side dishes, and its just a great place to meet up with friends, family, and dates! I highly recommend everyone to try this place out at least once. I moved out of NYC during the pandemic, but this was my first stop when I flew back into the city to visit.
Great food. Went on my birthday and it was busy. I havent gone out on a Wednesday in a while but it was packed. Once I tasted the food I knew why. Oddly enough though we were the only black couple in there and they came and gave us forks later on. My gf said she was struggling with her chopsticks but that still struck me as weird. Id go back
This is a great spot to stop by for some soon tofu and spicy marinated pork. I also got their sweet and spicy raw crab and it was delicious, there is a good amount of crab but this does get messy. The orders are pretty big and you can take your leftover for lunch the next day.
Food - not as good as it used to be a few years ago. Also not as good as the fort Lee location.Service - there seemed to be some confusion about whether or not they should seat incomplete parties. Somehow we got led to a table for 3 that already had other people! We also got kicked out after 1.5 hrs because they needed the table. They were super busy but always a bummer (and no notice beforehand!)Ambiance - Monday night dinner and it was super loud, really not conducive to conversation. Mostly for this reason I would opt for some of the other korean restaurants in the area. The issue now is where else to go for good soon du bu?
5 stars for me. lightning quick service, tasty ban chans, and delicious food, at a fair price. not cheap, but also not too expensive for K-town in NYC. Highly recommend to anyone looking to go out in K-Town. Very delicious Korean that wont break the bank. Love the service here too. No nonsense at all. You need something, they bring it to you.
One of my favorite restaurant in Korea Town. Their Banchan’s are great. Love their tteokbokki and I tried all other Korean restaurants tteokbokki in Korea Town and hands down this one is the best one I would say. Today I also tried Bibimbap and it was delicious. Highly recommend for good quality Korean food 🎈
Came here for an early lunch on a Saturday after reading the reviews. My husband and I had come straight from the JFK and we were craving some warm soup-style meal. The place looked cozy. We were welcomed right away and taken to a seat. However, it took forever for somebody to come. We didnt know who the server was and we had to track down someone to place an order. She took the order only to come back 10 min. after that bibimbop cant be done at that moment. It was almost noon...seriously? Food tasted ok. I had the dumpling tofu stew. Tofu tasted great and well-made. Stew was overly sweet and spicy. I felt like I just gulped a spoonful of MSG and sugar. The rice tea was served by another server who was running around frantically and she missed seeing a string of hair in my tea. Yuck, no... My husband and I finished maybe 1/5 of our meal before asking for the check. Never again.
Food lives up to the hype. Their soups are so amazing and soothing. I find that a lot of the places I get soondubu from are stingy when it comes to the garnish or meats in the soup but BCD is definitely generous. I always order their mushroom stew and get a LOT of them in my bowl and I love it. Service can be slow at times but this is also a pretty popular spot in Ktown.
There are A LOT of flies flying around my table and dishes. They try to get the bite of the little dishes as well and thank god I don’t like many of the little dishes they offer so I just let the flies go. The beef tofu soup I ordered is nothing special but okay for a quick lunch. One thing worth to point out is the high ceiling which makes sitting inside more comfortable than you think.Edited Aug. 9: I ended up visited them couple of times and now I found their soup is actually addicting…seafood tofu soup is very delicious and now it is my new go-to. There is not so much flies in my second and third visits so I can see there is a improvement. Great!
Great place! Our waiter was friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and inexpensive 🥰🥰for an appetizer, I ordered the fried dumplings, which taste amazingly great ☺️☺️. I also had the short ribs, they werent too chewy, and they were well seasoned. The soup was good. And I tried the peach 🍑 and apple soju cocktail 🍹 it tasted like fruity vodka 😄. Overall they did a fantastic job with the decor.
Their tofu is so Fresh. The staff is Nice and helpful and the food is delicious. It’s a must try spot for quality Korean food. Appropriately priced. Tried their seafood tofu soup and it was really flavorful. I found the rest of the sides a bit too salty for my taste but overall I enjoyed the food. Would definitely recommend.
Combo is not available on weekends, just so you know. food was okay and expensive. kalbi had no flavor and spicy bulgogi tasted very dry. disappointed that we paid quite a lot for subpar quality and we were unable to finish our meal. the staff were nice and very quick.
K-town staple for good food 24/7 - theres always something comforting about a bubbling bowl of soondubu after a long night out. Great for large-ish parties, dinner for one, and anything in between. Love the rotation of banchan and late-night steamed eggs on the house!

The Kimchi tastes fresh and not too spicy. They complement the main dish.We had tofu soup and seafood pancakes. They are quite tasty. We hope the pancake is less oilyDefinitely will come back to try more dishes.

2022-04-19Nice Korean soft tofu soups of any kind. I would say that this may be one of the best tofu houses in Manhattan. The price is ok but when you go there please expect to wait most of the time because the place is always always crowded.

2022-05-02The place has a great casual and communal sort of vibe. The food is delicious. The fried fish felt so fresh. The Seafood Soon Tofu Soup was pure wholesomeness - silky smooth Soon Tofu with just the right amount of spiciness in the seafood broth.

2022-07-09WOW!! Not only does BCD provide excellent service, but their food was top notch.I got the spicy kimchi tofu stew with beef. The stew itself was extremely flavorful and the tofu absorbed it super well. Everything about the soup was perfect including the spice. My partner got a mild beef dumpling tofu soup and every aspect of it was delicious. The dumplings with the soup brought in their own unique flavor and it tasted scrumptious.Another important aspect about this restaurant is the ambiance and service. While the restaurant is very big, the wait staff does an excellent job of making sure your appetizers (banchan) and water are always full. All in all, this is a great restaurant if you’re super hungry since you’re bound to leave full!

2022-04-27Hands down the best tofu soup I’ve had, ever. It’s the beef flavor in the soup that makes or breaks it and they have the most flavorful beef tofu soup. Spicy level was also on-point. We were seated very quickly being a party of 5, and the servers were prompt with keeping our drinks refilled. Will definitely be back for more tofu!

2022-07-07Wow! This place is such a warm and nice foodie spot. They have a lot of Korean food, and everything tasted homestyle. Grab yourself a soon tofu - it’s absolutely amazing, especially during the winter. Also, the galbi was excellent, and the cold noodles were perfectly balanced! The banchan are great too!The service was great - our waitress was so considerate and attentive to every detail.I don’t see why you shouldn’t come to this place, whether it is a casual date, for hangover, or simply to enjoy some Korean dishes! Totally recommended!

2022-08-13Going to start off by saying that I liked the soon tofu. I got the seafood soon tofu and it was flavourful and delicious. The tofu wasnt spectacularly good, but for the tofu alone, I would still be willing to give 5 stars. Unfortunately, the tofu was the absolute highlight of the meal, and things went downhill from there. We ordered the seafood pancake, and it was ok, but tasted bland and overly oily. We also ordered the bibimbap, and it was possibly the worst bibimbap Ive ever had. While it was doubtlessly very wholesome, what with all the veggies it contained, it was also practically tasteless. The side dishes were decent, but the pickled cucumbers lacked the sharp flavour I like in pickled cucumbers from other Korean restaurants. The two-person tables are too small to eat comfortably. Once the main dishes are brought, those together with all the side dishes and the drinks leave very little room on the table, and its hard to move anything around, for example if you want to bring a far away plate closer to you.I will say that while the service wasnt particularly warm, it was extremely efficient. No complaints there.

2022-06-21I can say one of the best tofu house in Koreantown.Came with a party of six. The price is ok but when you go there please expect to wait most of the time because the place is always always crowded.Food we ordered:1. Tofu kimchi soup- signature soup was well. It comes seasoned with salt, pepper and scallions.2. Fried pork dumpling3. Topokki- rice cakes, fish cake, fried meat dumpling (you can ask for vegetarian option too)4. Peach flavored soju5. They do give complimentary dishes for the table and also provide refills for that, they are all so deliciousService: The service was fine. I had to ask more than three times to order. Also, I couldnt call any waiters in five minutes of trying. We came at 8:30 which is their busiest time.Overall, the food quality is very comparable to the Korean settle restaurants around, and I could recommend it.
