My wife and I got our tintype taken last summer, so Ive had several months to get to stare at. And while I liked it from the moment it Orin developed it in front of us, glancing at it over these last several months, I have grown to cherish it. Like, on an emotional level, the fact that this thing will probably outlive my wife and I just moves me. I am so glad we got this done a whim. If youre considering it but arent sure, I for one encourage you to do it. If and when were able to visit Beacon again, we will certainly check in on the shop and say hello to Orin, the proprietor.Speaking of Orin, he was welcoming, gracious and extremely accommodating. He gave us a breakdown on the history and chemistry of the process, and worked with us patiently to compose our tintype shot and gave us a satisfaction guarantee. He also accommodated the shipment of the finalized tintype, and because we gave him the wrong address(we had just moved), he reached out personally and worked with us to make sure it could delivered to us. I cant thank him enough.Bottom line, Im extremely happy with the service this business provides, I do recommend it, and would be a repeat customer given the opportunity.

First, let’s appreciate the rare opportunity to have this style of photography available in our community - some spend years searching for the moment or to run across an artist that makes it available at a reasonable price. Next, I can disclose that my wife and I have been beyond pleased with each outcome - from our one year, toddler, parents gift, or just a drop in session for the heck of it… Each one is timeless and we’re grateful that Oren and his craft, patience are available. Highly recommend exploring the process and getting to know the artist, he’s a blast and loves what he does. You won’t be disappointed!

A beacon must do!!! My girlfriend and I did 2 portraits at beacon tintype. Oren made is such a fun informative and laid back experience. Oren goes through everything and is so fun to chat with. His studio is a sight to see! If you are an art or photography fan I cannot imagine a better souvenir than an amazing tintype portrait of yourselves! Again a must do!

My fiance and I were guests at the Dutchess Inn & Spa right next door and stumbled upon Beacon Tintype on a Saturday afternoon. We got very lucky and were able to do a shoot with Oren right away. He was a pleasure to work with and he took the time to explain the process and chemistry to us in great detail. We loved our tintype so much that we ended taking one more photo to showcase my engagement ring that we ended up loving even more. We purchased both tintypes and had a lovely conversation with Oren during our visit. We received both tintypes in the mail (carefully packaged), as well as a very sweet handwritten note from Oren just a few days later. As long as Beacon Tintype exists, we plan to make it a yearly tradition to go every year from here on out!

I write about music and art and needed a new promo photo, something a bit unique and different, but fitting to what I do. Oren took an amazing photo of me. He is a perfectionist and he went through a few trial and error until it was perfect. I love it! It was a fun experience and the quality is excellent. See for yourself. It was worth every penny.

Oren is the best! We spent a few hours with him getting three portraits done, and we loved all of them! Oren will take the time to explain his process, how the equipment and chemistry works, and it’s just an all-around pleasure to talk to. You won’t be disappointed!

Im so glad this place opened in beacon. the owner is delightful, very skilled and knowledgeable in his craft and the product just fascinating, a real glipse into photographic history. You walk away with something that will last a hundred years and more Its all quite awesome. I highly recommend. ive already got my next appt. booked.
