I ordered 3 lunch specials.. one jerk chicken with collard greens and cheese and Mac and I say cheese and Mac because the cheese to noodle ratio was about 80/20 (ridiculous) the food was horribly salty!!!! The fried chicken was pink on the inside! Yuck and the fish was bland. I dont know whos in there cooking Now, but they need to fire them and bring the old cook back from before they closed down. I wont be going back!
I frequently ordered from this location when they first opened some time back. As of lately there quality of food has decreased tremendously. I ordered the fried catfish with Mac&cheese and yams to go. When I got home and took a piece of my catfish to eat. I noticed it was pinkish with a slimey texture. I tossed that piece and tried to continue to the rest of the fish. As I went on certain sections of each piece of fish were either slimey to uncooked, pinkish or both. The Mac&Cheese had way too much cheese to the point it was mushy and hard to go down with no taste at all; very bland. The tarter sauce taste like they mixed mayonnaise with nothing else but mayonnaise. There hot sauce taste like dish detergent. The yams were half way decent, but paired with the rest of my meal. Everything had to go in the trash. I felt if I kept eating I would get sick.SN: The two stars are because of the half way decent yams.
This place was not so good yesterday as far as their employees Behavior. The sister that was in there was very sarcastic and rude. I dont know if she had a bad day but she was very rude. And I dont know if they are trying to be an ideal soul food restaurant or a fish fry because I seen mostly Fried Chicken in there a lot of pork and beef Meats. Someone needs to tell these people that soul food is not consist of fried food soul food is consist of food that is to Electrify the whole body not make you look like your 9 months pregnant and overweight. This is slavery food. This is the kind of food that our enslaved ancestors were push to eat for survival. And made them sick.
I could not believe how disgusting the service is. It humors me how employees can look at you in a way that you are disturbing their day. The cooks have a way better attitude, but in all the times i visited this restaurant it seems as though they have hired new women to treat to make you never want to return again. Food was great, but service will cancel that place very soon
If I could give no stars I would! Worst Bedstuy Fish Fry ever!!! Just ordered through UberEats and they messed up my order. I asked for whiting with Mac and cheese and candy yams, but instead I got collard greens and tuna casserole salad. So I called and tried to rectify the situation, however a female employee answered the phone and was being nasty and acted as if she did not care about the issue. She refused to let me speak to a manager and stated that I could call back the next day. Customer service is straight trash!! She refused to fix the issue, which further pissed me off bc I had spent 19 dollars for a meal that I did not receive. She then lied stating only she and another female was present in the store after previously stating that other employees were present. I then hung up on her and called Ubereats. Luckily they were able to refund me my money within seconds. I will never again order anything from here!!!
There is very good rich soul food. I love their food personally. Mac in cheese ya dig some bake chicken any of their veggies. No problem eat it all up. The workers are always nice , friendly and helpful. But if you go to late late in the day they might not have what you want. So....but dont be discouraged you can order online or whatever you like. Just know do it earlier than later, so you too can enjoyyy.
When ordering from seamless/grub hub this place will not contact you if they arent offering a menu item... they send the order minus whatever they dont have (delivery usually takes over an hour) and then you have to call the ordering service to get the refund.Also, this is how the mussels looked when I finally did receive my order.Ive given them 2 chances and was disappointed both times.Save your time & your money & go elsewhere.
Come here only if you have patience.Food is good but customer service is terrible, you get an attitude at the register, overcharged and I had to wait an hour and a half for my food, if I wasnt distracted by the terrible wish-washy service and actually liked the food I wouldve took my money back.
Went here about 2 weeks ago and this location I enjoyed better than the one in bedstuy on Halsey. I had the salmon salad and the yams and the mac ans cheese. Mac and cheese was okay, nothing special. The yams was good and the honey garlic salmon was good. Would go back again. The strawberry lemonade or peach lemonade, I cannot remember the name but it was good. Balanced perfectly. Not too sweet and not too tart.
I ordered Mac n cheese, broccoli and fried whitings. And it was horrible. The broccoli was mixed up with fresh cooked broccoli and old broccoli. The Mac n cheese was dry and burnt, and the fish wasnt fried hard enough, so when I opened it, it was just wet. I usually dont go to the one on Nostrand no more now I remember why.
Food at this place is exceptional and its super popular not just with the locals but also for delivery as well. When you come into this place you smell and see the delicious food. The setup and presentation is amazing and youll definitely feel like youre eating some great soul food to say the least. You can order on Uber eats and might even find me being your delivery guy.
One of my favorite places to get good food. My favorite dish is the Hot and Honey Salmon I usually get it with their creamy whipped potatoes and collard green. or I order a veggie plate and get green bean broccoli and colliflower and collard green along with the Hot and Honey Salmon with sweet potato and Mac and cheese. There are other dishes such as jerk chicken and bar b que chicken but the salmon is my favorite.
I’m not into doing reviews but I feel like I should warn the next customer. I order through UbetEats and paid almost 60 bucks for the order. I’m mad because I ordered Seafood Mac n Cheese and Got Regular Mac n Cheese! I ordered half n half tea lemonade and it tastes horrible like when you leave the tea bag in the water too long. I ordered peach cobbler and got some ice cold mush I still yet to see 1 peach in. When this place first opened the food was better quality and taste. Now it’s way too Salty or Just Off what it should be like. After several times ordering to Support a local Business Unfortunately I Am Done....this will be the Last Order I place! That 1 Start is for the fast delivery from UberEats they get all 5 actually
I will never order from them (the nostrand location) again in my life. Just order from the Halsey location. I placed my order 2 hours ago and they refused to pick up the phone after 5 calls made and I STILL DONT HAVE MY FOOD! I have never been so tight. DO NOT ORDER FROM THE NOSTRAND LOCATION they need to be shut down.
I ordered from this restaurant using uber eats. When I received my food was cold because the delivery guy was riding a bike , and made a delivery before mine. I ordered the shrimp and fish combo with French fries. The shrimp and fries were pretty good . I also enjoyed the tartar sauce that was provided with the meal. I plan to visit this restaurant again to try something different. Until then, I give this restaurant 4 stars.
Disgusting! They’re getting to be SO BAD ! Starting off with the food…I got pink chicken TWICE ! The yams were my favorite part, but now they leave so much of the skin on the yams it’s a turn off. Lastly, the professionalism is NOT there. So now you’re rude with dissatisfying/ uncooked food as well?!?! ….I’ll Pass & will not be recommending anymore!
I waited for almost an hour. I understand it was a busy time. After finally receiving my meal, I was very disappointed. I ordered macaroni & cheese, spinach, and salmon. My salmon and spinach were both very salty. I could not eat it at all. Mind you the meal was not cheap. I feel like I wasted my time and money.
Food is delicious. Tastes home made. I’ve even ordered platters of food for dinners at home, even Thanks Giving, when I don’t feel like cooking. The lunch special is affordable and filling and comes with a drink. The Nostrand location seems to be efficient. Normally no long lines. I ate most of my chicken but they do give nice portions.
Purchased some food today. It was a disappointment. We prefer the Utica or Halsey locations. It was my first time here. It has been a while since I’ve ordered at a fish spot. I think many of these restaurants have taken its patrons for granted in the pandemic. The customer service was also curtly professional. There was no warmth. The food was edible - the fish sandwich I ordered. My my mom had fish and chips, and it was hard and dry. She was disappointed. What a pity. I hope as New York opens up, some of these restaurants wake up and add quality back to their foods and flavor profiles. I unfortunately had to write an unsavory review.
I ordered through Seamless and was so excited to try this place, the menu looked great. I was quoted an hour for delivery, and then another 30 minutes was added, which I thought ok, we are in unusual times so I’ll be patient. 2.5 hours later, still no food and the number listed for the restaurant doesn’t work because I tried multiple times as did the Seamless rep that was trying to find out what was going on. I couldn’t contact the delivery person either. Ended up having to cancel the order, too late to order from anywhere else. Never again.
Love the food. Its so good. My fave is salmon , fried fish, fried chicken , mac and cheese, candied yam ( done right), collard greens and a ice tea. They serve all of my favorites.I just wish the wait wasnt longer than 20 minutes to get my order. I literally waited in my car to place a catering order for an hour; ended up not doing it because of the long wait and unorganized set up.
They never have their food ready, like why do I have to wait 2hours for mac n cheese, or 45min for them to fry chicken. Its unacceptable, they need to prep there food for the day in morning in advance. So when u see something is finishing u should be able to put a pan of mac n in the oven, and not tell customers that the noodles need to boil. Level up on ur business management skills!!!
Food was great, however they need to control their lines, everybody was everywhere you had uber pickup, people who ordered online, and people that were there to order. You didnt know where to stand, ppl jumping the line arguments on who is next. Oh and when I finally placed my order I had to wait for my meat to be cooked after waiting 25 minutes went back to pickup food now my sides run out and needed to wait another 20mins, that was unacceptable my sides should have been made and waiting for my meat to be done.
I won’t be back! I ordered a Big order the night before Thanksgiving and it was wrong. Drove all the way home and realized it. I had to drive back to the Fry. A bunch of excuses as to why they got the order wrong is what I got. Not my problem! Do better. Get a system and some organization. Like, come on. You’ve been open long enough. I asked to be accommodated for the inconvenience. I got nothing. That’s the last they will get of my hard earned money! Keep thinking that customer service doesn’t matter. The reviews tell it all.
Ordered from Uber Eats a few months back. The wait time was increased by an hour and when the food came, there were no utensils, or sauces for the fish I ordered. The fish was overcooked and not well seasoned.I tried calling the number listed and it does not work. Not good for a business. Big disappointment as I try to support Black Businesses. I will try one of the other locations and hope for a better outcome.
I placed an order through Doordash on 5/27/21 @ 11:00 AM. Still waiting for the Nostrand Ave Bed Sty Fish Fry to call me back. Used door dash and paid $41.00 for an order. Waited two hours. I called the Nostrand Avenue store they claimed it was not the location. Kept telling me there was no order for me. However, Doordash produced the actual receipt and it was the Nostrand Avenue location. In contact with the store and Doordash. The store finally admits the Doordash Machine was cut off. Everything thats done is a representation of the service of your organization. Each store is now going to voice mail. Thanks, Bed Sty Fish Fry I will keep my money in my pocket. Never again Mr. Anthony Brown will I give your company a dime.
The staff there have no sense, imagine them not having Mac and cheese backup and they clearly have a pan in the table that’s empty. You’d think they would know when it’s half empty to tell them in the back to fire up the Mac. I wasted my time driving there to here after they rang up my order sorry 30 mins. This alone will not make me go back and I spend lots of money in that place
Look I have to be honest. The food here is good. Really good and thats its saving grace. The need a bigger store front. Theres so many call in orders that they need a counter just for the call in and delivery pick ups. Like Applebees or Buffalo wild wings, theres too much traffic in the store which leads to orders being confused or not complete which makes everyone very upset. Also due to the volume of orders, it takes considerably longer to get customers in and out. Next down side is pay limited attention to the menu and its prices, you might think your going to pay $10 for something and get to the register and its $12. Thats just the way it is. Now with all that being said I will continue to eat here. The food is awesome. I use to go to the spot on Fulton but its closed now so I limited options. I usually get a fish dinner but I have tried a few things and have never been disappointed. Oh and you cant go wrong with the seafood Mac, yams or mash potatoes.
So came home tired from double shift at the hospital ordered Grilled Salmon and asparagus, the asparagus is way over cooked and the salmon very salty all the sauce was in the bottom of the bag. Yhis is the first time thia had happened so i am calling recordings kept say wrong number. So disappointing cant even eat any of it. Well the kids shrimp and chicken and fries was good
I just place my order on uber eats, my order number is B0698 however its missing the macaroni salad. I try calling your establishment and was able to connect due to your number not being in services. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE! Ordered a Shrimp dreadlock pasta online that was posted ready for pick up. When I arrived to the restaurant I waited an extra hour and a half to receive my food. When I finally got home to eat the food it’s was plain Deadlock pasta with NO Shrimp! I was charged extra and did not receive the food I paid for. Horrible food management and poor customer service here. Avoid Halsey location when ordering food!
There are no places like this in the area and the food is really good, but Im giving this a 4 star because of the staff , they undermine their customers you need to be a bit aggressive to get your order and they will litteraly stop you in the middle of you ordering to take care of someone else who maybe already ordered. The since of customer service is really low, and i will not go buy there in person.
I went to this restaurant for takeout on saturday 5/11 at 4:30pm.This restaurant is poorly run. There isnt a competent person in charge of managing what food is kept in stock, what food gets cooked and the order that customer orders get processed (UberEATS also adds another degree of chaos to the takeout experience).I waited an hour for my order. When i placed the order and paid they told me it would take 10-15mins. 40 minutes later, when I figured out what was holding my order up (no vegetables for the dinners), i told the manager I couldnt wait any longer for the order.I was one of several people in the restaurant who were upset by the wait time. I asked the manager for my order w/o vegetables and for a partial refund for the missing vegetables (aside: I initially asked for collard greens with my order, they didnt have any collard greens -at 4:30pm on a saturday in a soul food restaurant- i opted for what they had cooked when i placed my order - mixed vegetables).The manager had the authority to issue me a fair partial refund, but not the will to give good customer service. I had the desire to just start yelling, but not the will to return disrespect for disrespect. There are too many options in the neighborhood for me to subject myself to the disrespect and poor service theyre serving up.Also - their jerk chicken is a chicken breast cutlet with jerk sauce poured on top. Go anywhere else on nostrand for jerk chicken. Literally.anywhere.else.Also - after i left with my order at 5:30 an employee walked into the restaurant with several large bags of collard greens.
Horrible Customer Service provided by the workers. Ive waited over 45 minutes for orders that was placed on delivery.Unfortunately, Customer service will not improve due to the influx of business they have already developed. I personally will not do business at this establishment. They clearly accept an overwhelming amount of orders for delivery and as a result can not maintain coordination. Whomever is responsible in management level must intervene and get involved.
I love Bed Stuy Fish Fry but as of late I’ve been really disappointed with their customer service. Yesterday I ordered catfish at the Nostrand location and when I opened my platter at home they placed a piece of catfish and a piece of whiting. If they ran out of catfish they should have just told me so I can change my order.

Would love to continue to patronize your establishment but after tonights experience I am not sure that will happen. The situation that took place there and was escalated by the staff was unacceptable. The staff needs to be trained on customer service and courtesy. Your food is delicious. It is said that the customer experience doesnt match. Re-train...re-staff...re-launch...Such an asset to my Crown Heights community. Lets do better!
I placed a large order with them the day before my event. The food was ready for pick up at the request time. The staff carried the food to the car for me. The staff was very polite an courteous.The food was excellent. Bed Sty Fish, on Norstrand Ave is the best. I will definitely order the food for my next event from them.
On my most recent visit, I was disturbed by the young cashiers attitude towards paying customers. As I waited for my order she would make insulting remarks after each customer left the establishment. She was very condescending and make the business uninviting. Although the food was great this particular young lady left a nasty taste in my mouth and I will never patronize there again.
Paid $23.50 for my food only to not get my macaroni and cheese. I ordered whitish fish which comes with two sides. They gave me the white rice and left out the macaroni. After being hungry and waiting 50 minutes for my food to be delivered its delivered to me wrong and Im charged for what they didnt give me. The delivery man practically dumped my food in my hand an ran off so quick and now I realize why..my order wasnt fulfilled. Dont waste your time ordering from this place. I normally dont make an issue over food but this isnt right and when you read reviews youll see other ppl go through similar problems too. $3.50 for macaroni that I never got. On top of that they refuse to pick up the phone when you call to inquire ..which makes me wonder how are they keeping business? I ordered my food off uber eats..Im warning you not to order from this business because youll have a problem too
So far my favorite fish place. Everything I had there was good. I live in Harlem but will be commuting here for the delicious Catfish dinner. The prices are great too. You cant go wrong coming here. The peach cobbler wasnt my favorite. Probably wont order that again but it still wasnt bad. Overall, Im hooked!
Workers have nasty attitudes, havent come here for a year because of it. Came back tonight nothing has changed but the big fat B letter grade on the door. Took my order I said thank you, gave me my good I said thank you no one answer me yet. Furthermore had the nerve to be tallking about me not remembering my order number while I was still in the store. Location on Fulton served refrigerator cold mac and cheese while I dined in and over heated rice and peas to the point where all the beans had burst open. Tired of poor service, train your workers.
Took my money and claimed they didnt get my order. How?? Then when I called grub hub they said my order was blocked by the restaurant???? I was so lost. This was my first time. When I called back they said the driver will be here in 15 minutes. That was 1 1/2 hrs ago. Now I just want my money back. When I called back saying Im cancelling it and calling my bank someone walked away from the phone while I was talking to them. Wtf
The service was mediocre. The young lady was discussing personal business at the register and not paying attention to the fact that I was waiting for 20 minutes for my food. It was only after I asked about my food that she realized it wasnt being prepared. The fish and chips were pretty good.
THE BEST MAC & CHEESE & TURKEY MEATLOAF IVE EVER FOUND. Seriously, I’m a picky eaters & I’ve been craving soul food in Brooklyn (which is sooooo hard to find), I’ve really been settling before I found this place.AND THEY DELIVER!!!! They also take cash & card.They are a bit pricey- but it is soo worth it. Food is set up in a buffet style display facing the server, so you can see (most) of the available items (Some dishes need to be prepared fresh I guess). You are allowed to taste the dishes on display, so you don’t have to commit to buying something you won’t like.There is usually a bit of a wait (~4-8 min, never more than 10 if you’re only ordering from the buffet table), even though the food is already made. That’s usually because the register is mostly the server as well. Rarely are there a server and a separate register person. I cannot speak on how long it takes when meals need to be prepared for you. But I don’t imagine it’s that long.Food Review:The meatloaf was so juicy and flavorful that I didn’t even notice it was turkey until my 4th time ordering it. The Mac & Cheese is literally the best I’ve tasted, better than places in the south. It’s creamy with tons of shredded cheese (not the liquid cheese). I also just recently tried their salmon- omg it was like salmon with duck sauce (but like the GOOD duck sauce that you get from the packets). Usually I like my salmon savory, but it was a nice twist. The candy yams are suuuuuper sweet & delicious. The backed chicken was tender and juicy. Honestly I don’t think I’ve had anything from here that I DIDN’T like. (Which is not easy)
I had the most wonderful tasteful experience that I have not experienced in a long while. The food reminds me of my grandmothers cooking and for me to say that about a Southern Belles cooking you know it must be damn good. Yes this place out did itself. I will take another visit here maybe next month. I was told there are approximately four locations if I should happen to stumble upon the next location I will let you guys know. When in Bed-Stuy or Crown Heights make sure you stop by because mouth watering food should always be enjoyed. I so would love to meet the owner one day if its possible please come by my establishment in Crown Heights lets talk.
The food need some help the potato salad is not that good no flavor need me to make it for them I am just saying. The fried Whiting too light and need more seasonings the collards greens are ok the fried shrimp needs to be butterflied and more seasoning the mac and cheese was ok but needs more color on top people eat with there eyes the only thing I liked was the fried chicken wings with seasoned French fries
I ordered a shrimp wrap that apparently took 30 min to make. They burned the actual wrap itself. How do you make a shrimp wrap and leave the shrimp not peeled? Every bite, I had to take the peel out of my mouth. Barely had any sauce to make up for the burned wrap.Positive - seafood mac and cheese was great!!!
The food is very good but the service is very bad had to wait 30mins in the store just for a sided order of macaroni & cheese in Collard greens because the servers are arguing making the business look bad. I ask 3 times 10min apart plz can someone make my side orders. Yall stand here arguing over personal problems what about your customers do we have to stand here in listen to yall bickering. Do Not Ever Come Here!The service was terrible. The wait was so long for such a simple order. The attitude of the staff is in total very horrible. The place was crowded and people were so frustrated. They don’t operate correctly at all and you will only be served if you constantly remind them to prepare it. They don’t even serve you in order. In total a horrible experience. They take on too much of what they can handle with the Seamless and UberEats Orders.
Staff extremely unprofessional. Went to pick up an order and waited for more then 40 mins women didn’t even want to look for my order and kicked everyone out of the store and then would take people that came in after. I’ve been to other Bed Stuy Fish and they are a little more organized and professional than this location.
I started out giving 4 stars, now they deserve 0 stars. Been eating there 3Xs a week. Last Fri night just B4 closing I stopped by. Ordered 4 fish dinners. They were breaking down for the night. & had emptied out the fryer. Once the server told the cook 2 make 4 fish dinners, he takes a pot & scoops the oil from the big pot on the floor. The problem is about 3 to 4 guys w/big boots, (tims) on, walking back & forth kicking dust & dirt n the pot of oil. Really, am I suppose 2 serve my family that now. Ive been trying 2 contact the manager 2 avoid posting this.
They had no menus. I Didnt know they extended the lunch special till 4 untill after I received my 14.00 shrimp dinner. Which also were already fried without a line of people asking for them. After that meal I was not able to keep anything else down that day or the next. The day prior to that I had some from another Bed-Stuy Fish Fry with no problem. So its not all.I went back for a second time and tried it again. The food was still good and I didnt get sick this time so I went up a star
Today I vist BED - STUY FISH FRY and my food was cold when I got home. Made one sandwhich and had to wait for the other sandwich due to them running out of bread. The first sandwhich the bread was old. We frequent here and at times the service suck. The cashiers has very bad attitudes especially Rochelle she is combative not friendly. Suck her teeth ETC. I decided to write this review because my first vist was not a good experience with the same Cashier. However I decided to go back and give them another try and dam very disappointed.The manager is helpful and friendly. The cashiers needs training and to learn how to work with the public. The customer is always right.😠😠😠
The staff is the worse.very poor customer service skills.they make you feel like they dont want to be @ work.let alone serve you.They give attitudes and the wait is too long.You stand in line for 15 minutes just to order and then wait another 25 minutes for the food to be prepared.
Be prepared to wait and wait a long time. I waited 45 minutes for a small slither of Salmon, I was so disappointed when I looked in the plate. I will not be going to this location anymore and drive to another. Ive been to two other locations, the portions and wait time were decent. The staff needs to get it together at this Nostrand Avenue location.
So, food was really good but picking it up was a complete mess. There was a line for picking up online orders that had five people in it and wasnt budging. Eventually I got in the line that was actually moving in the hopes that I could just be like thats my food there, already paid for. Someone in front of me was dealing with an incorrect order so that line took a while. When I finally got in front of someone I was told to go stand in the other line. In total it took a bit over twenty minutes to pick up food that was bagged and ready to go.
Their service is horrible, they continue to mess up peoples orders and always try to make excuses. The wait time is also horrible, they say 20 minutes but they really mean 40 minutes. You cant place an order over the phone,they only do walk ins and online orders and they still mess up your order.
As restaurants that offer a Fish Fry anymore even exist it was kind of surprising to find this place. It is ironic that I came across it because I was thinking earlier in the day that I havent had a fish sandwich in quite awhile. So when I came upon it I had to stop. Now although it is named Bed-Stuy Fish Fry they do offer other items on the menu. Not priced any higher than any other restaurant as they are reasonably priced.
My third time going for same exact order and each time the fish tastes worse and worse . This time they really burnt it, its half the size I normally get and it has no taste. The side orders are okay but I highly doubt that I go back. For $14 I expected better. Each experience gets worse. Over it.
I went into that restaurant 3 times and each time the supervisor or boss is extremely rude. No people skills at all. If it wasnt for customers she would have no business. Dark skin short lady so everyone will know who I am speaking about. I am not the only customer she has been rude to
Unable to get Sweet potato fries with what I requested. I was willing to pay the difference, however Im unable to call because the number provided to me for the Bed Stuy fish fry on Nostrand is disconnected. I could not request what I wanted on line via the website or on Grub hub.What kind of business are they running if customers cant get what they are requesting on line and by phone.
Service is extremely poor, Cashiers are soooo unprofessional with attitude as if they didnt want to be bothered when i politely asked how long would the wait be ? , The wait is outrageous when most of the food is already cooked and on display, it didnt seem as if anthing was going on at my time of arrival, so i really didnt understand the 15 minute wait when the employees seemed to be standin around talking ! 😠😡😠😧
Horrible. I placed my order at the nostrand ave location at 804. My food arrived to me at 10:01pm. When i got my pink lemonade it was tied up in a bag with the juice spilled all inside the bag leaving me with less than a half cup of juice. Not to mention my food was cold as if it was mad for breakfast and they sent me leftover food. I would never order from this location ever agqin
I ordered Uber eats which I was happy to do instead of going to get it and My delivery came from the Nostrand Avenue location. Baked chicken, Yams & I thought I ordered Collard greens but instead I received a high portion of Collard Stems instead that is my only complaint and hope it does not happen again. I will travel myself to the restaurant and have to get a replacement if I do. Inbeleivable someone would scoop up a portion of just Stems to sell to a customer
The food is good but the wait and customer service is horrible! They gave me the wrong order and when I returned to change it I had to wait over an hour for fried chicken. Totally unacceptable!! I will not reccomend this resturant unless its empty or you don t mind waiting for 30 minutes or more
Food was ok but the service is terrible, the counter girl needs a friendly pill or something and they have a debit card minimum that exceeds the lunch special so you can only get it with cash and honestly my Abi fries better salmon🤷🏽♀️ I wont be back. Id rather eat fish in Paterson and that says A LOT!🤣
I ordered Turkey Meatloaf , Mac and cheese with the cream corn , OmG , food is amazing , I like the nostrand location because its no long wait , your plate is made quick right in front of you , Great customer service , the girls at the front are professional and greet you as soon as you walk in , I asked Camika her name and told her that I would be writing this review because the service was dope , all of my co workers are asking me where did I get that soul food from lol , but I tellem its more like Food for your soul !! Keep it going !!
Uber Eats delivered fast and the food was hot. We ordered the oxtail Rasta pasta. The oxtails were tasty. The Rasta pasta could have been good without all the excess oil. It was like they just poured oil into it. I would not order this again. I have gotten the junior combo fish and shrimp before with markedly better results. The prices here are very reasonable.
Gets the four stars simply bcuz I cannot gauge a fuller assessment off one visit at this particular locale. Denizens of central Brooklyn who love fish know Bed-Stuy Fish Fry based on its original location on Halsey St. It has grown into three more, all outside of its namesake neighborhood. Nonetheless, the brand is known for good tasty food. The Crown Heights venue is much like the others, take out only, no bathroom avail.
The food is good but the service is really really bad. I tried to give it a chance after having issues twice. But after a two hour wait Im not giving their Nostrand ave location another chance. Most likely its the management. Im sure the owner has no idea how horrible their manager is..........Ok ......now I get a call after a two hr wait to tell me that they ran out of spinach. Could this get any worse.
Bed Stuy Fish Fry is way to consistent in bad customer service. Always have an attitude . Dont bring your outside energy over this good food. Worst customer service in New York. The way you treat your people is disgusting, and the worst part about it is the food is good . You seriously need a customer service training class about how to treat PAYING CUSTOMERS.
So disappointed. The service at this location leaves a lot to be desired. The first time I let it go, but when I work hard for my money and I give your business a second chance and the experience is worst than the first I’m disappointed. I wish your business continued success but please work on your customer service.
Shoddy service no menus. The wait staff does not know the prices because again there is nothing posted. No prices nada. This is the Nostrand Avenue location. Really!!!!😡😡😡 I am not saying that they have poor food,but management needs to step up their game. I wish I could have tasted the food, but the wait was so long I was not willing to stay .
Worst Bed Sty Fish Fry Location out of all of them. I ordered grilled BBQ shrimp and they gave me fried shrimp dipped in BBQ sauce. This like the second or third time they messed up my order by not following simple instructions. The macaroni and cheese is hit or miss but more times a miss. The fish was bland and tasted like they just threw it in the flour unseasoned then fried it. This particular location is f ing up the brand. IF IT AINT FROM THE ORIGINAL SPOT ON HALSEY AND HOWARD U CAN KEEP THAT ISH #DEADASS
Service is poor. Very disorganized. Impossible to get the management on phone to complain. We got dinner last night and after multiple confirmations the order was wrong. We did know untill we got home. No answer when we try to call to complain. The food isnt worth the poor service.
Our food was a bit stale, we ordered wings and fries and when the delivery guy arrived( via seamless), our sweet tea was leaning to the side spilling some out and our wings were too crispy and the fries were stale, usually our food is decent when we order in the past but today wasnt it....Ill be fair to give them 3 stars but got to do better, Ill directly let them know about their service....
Went to Bedstuy Fish Fry on a Friday night 9/29/17. Ordered two tilapia dinners w/ 2 sides each... While the sides were pretty tasty, the Tilapia on the other hand was not seasoned, I repeat the tilapia was tasteless! Was looking forward to some fried fish, I think it was grilled... and TASTELESS!
Food was nothing special. The portions was lite and what made it even worst, the wait and customer service was horrible. I spent 50 plus dollars and they acted as if I was there for free scraps. I will not be going here anymore, and I suggest anyone else whos thinking about it, dont even waste your time.
I order from this place often I am a bit disappointed with them I usually have to wait 2 hrs for my food which is beyond ridiculous but tell me why don’t they have a working phone number every time you call it’s out of service I might have to find another restaurant to order from.
Went to try their food on 6/16/2017 , in the afternoon and it just tasted horrible except their sweet yams . A lady that was serving me food , had a pen in her hand . she was writings on the containers then accidentally dropped the blue pen right into the mash potatoes . she then quickly took it out when I told her it dropped ....... Then the crazy part happens , Instead of changing the mash potatoe pan she takes a rounded long spoon an starts swirling it in the food she had dropped the pen in . Thats disgusting , an if the manager or the boss had seen that , that lady would been in trouble .
Came in placed two orders one 33 the other for 10 the server Ulabi is extremely rude to customers she lacks customer service skills and doesnt know how to interact with customers when there is a problem she needs to be removed from the establishment or else whoever owns this store will lose money off her character alone I never met someone so rude before make me not want my food So disappointed IMG_7788.JPG
First I ordered online and traveled 20 minutes then had to wait 30 minutes while waiting for food I saw bearded men without covering on these beards then some guy removing rice from a pot using his hands although he had on gloves it looked nasty and these scenes caused me to just turn around and leave I just was not hungry anymore 🤢

2022-03-03Worst Experience EVER! Walk-in order at 7:33pm...8:09pm check on order and the chef says he never received said order. Tells me wait 10 mins which turns into another 15 mins. Ordered Pepper Steak, sauteed spinach with rice and peas on the side. The spinach and pepper steak are drowned in gravy like soup and the rice is a pool of what I think is the water from making it. Definitely not the experience I would have expected but they wont be seeing my face again...even though I only live 2 blocks away. The only saving grace was the extra polite and apologetic cashier.

2022-05-23First off it’s 90 degrees in NYC, why wouldn’t your establishment have air conditioning? Secondly there’s no one at the register to take customer orders, customers literally standing on line for 10 minutes or more to order. The Uber / DoorDash workers are standing inside as well making the heat conditions worse than they need to be. & third, the dark skinned woman who serves the food has no manners she’s either ignoring customers or Uber/DoorDash delivery drivers. Management is a must because more than half the menu is prepared already buffet style so why does it take so long to get out of Bed Stuy Fish Fry? Bad business. Won’t recommend. Like if you agree.

2022-05-10Saturday 5/1/22 aproximately 9:30pm- Food was good, BUT the service was HORRIBLE! Upon entering I was greeted nicely by the cashier. I told him I was from CT and this was my Virgin voyage and they were highly recommended. However, after paying and stepping to the side for 25 minutes I watched the server preparing orders. She was flinging the food into the containers sloppily and had very poor customer service skills. I noticed she was preparing my food so I stepped forward. She prepared 2 of my 3 orders then glared at me and said Your orders not ready. I said, That is my order youre preparing. She then raised her voice and said Didnt you order fried jerk salmon? Do you see it? Your orders not ready. I then said, Tone!?! She rolled her eyes took off her apron went to the cashier picked up a soda and started drinking. The cashier whispered something to her then began filling the orders after she said she cant be bothered. When she came back, without washing or sanitizing her hands, the attitude was worse. After 45 minutes I asked what the hold up was and she yelled You ordered jerked salmon and it takes time! She then continued to loudly mumble. I said Are you talking to me? You have dropped 2 baskets of chicken and they are being served to people who ordered after me. Surely salmon cooks faster than chicken. My daughter who was in the car saw her posturing and gesturing and called me. When she heard how the server was talking to me she came inside and asked Who is talking disrespectfully to my mother? The server rambled on saying she couldnt MAKE me understand the salmon takes longer to cook because it is cooked to order. I then said Salmon takes 5 minutes at most to cook. I said, Show me this salmon that takes 45 minutes to cook. They hadnt dropped it yet. She then was disrespectful to the fry cook who said he was not given the order. I said, Then cancel the order and refund the meals. She yells NO REFUNDS! My daughter told her No problem. I will dispute it with my credit card company. The cashier then said the meal would be ready in a few minutes. It was, but the sides were wrong. After all of this the food was good, but the service... have mercy.

2022-03-22I love Bed-Stuy fish fry! They are very nice here. I often order the cat fish fritters. Yummy! Their potato salad tastes like ya favorite Auntie made it… no lie. The mac and cheese is good and the yams… the greens are cooked well not salty.

2021-07-02UPDATE: I never really give an updated review on places I visit however I feel like this one is necessary. I raved to my cousin about Bed-Stuy Fish Fry and since we were in the area on Sunday we decided to visit. By the time we got home we realized our order was incorrect and items were missing. I ordered and paid for a large cabbage and it wasn’t in the bag. My cousin ordered large yams and was given baked macaroni and cheese instead. The whiting fish taste absolutely horrible. I was surprised because the last few times I’d been there the food was absolutely amazing. The cabbage in one of my other orders wasn’t even cooked the cabbage was hard. The yams also taste horrible and werent cooked. The fish and chips we were we received about a ¼ of fries. Mostly importantly the employer who took our order was nasty and seemed as though she had an attitude. What I didn’t appreciate is she waited until we placed our order to tell us they were only accepting cash since the machine was down. There should have been a sign or it should have been mentioned before we ordered. What if I didn’t have cash on me? I was highly disappointed with both the service and food. The little bit of food I did eat upset my stomach to the point I felt like I had to vomit. I was even more upset there wasn’t a number listed so I could contact the restaurant to inform them I was missing an item and my order was incorrect. I’m not sure if I’d visit anytime soon after the experience I just had.WOW, I don’t even know where to start. A friend of mines recommended Bed-Stuy Fish Fry to me years ago. I was finally in the area and decided to give it a try. I almost walked by the restaurant because there is no awning. There are QR codes outside the restaurant so you can view the menu. The restaurant accepts cash and card. However, if you pay with card be prepared to pay a processing fee of 3.5%. It was about a 10–15-minute wait because there was no baked macaroni and cheese ready. There is a. bench outside the restaurant for you to sit on while you wait for your food. The restaurant is very clean, no foul smells, the cashier was very polite and welcoming. I ordered the fried whiting dinner 4 pieces with cabbage and baked macaroni and cheese, and baked chicken 2 pieces a leg and thigh with yams and macaroni and cheese. Let me tell you it was love at first bite. The fish is seasoned well, the yams are soft and sweet and the baked macaroni and was worth the wait it was perfect. I love the fried whiting fish was very fresh and has no bones in it. The baked chicken meal also comes with a drink. The baked chicken was okay. I will definitely be back for more, give them a try I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

2022-03-26I usually go to the one on Fulton and I love it there! The food is amazing!!!!!!! But since I was closer to this one I said let me try it and it was DISGUSTING, definitely two different recipes. Money wasted and I’m so disappointed. Never switch stores again.

2021-08-07Ok EVERYTHING was on and popping even the long stems left on the collard greens....I was popping them in my mouth like they were string beans.....oww wee...my son said he aint mad that the delivery was delayed....I still was, I had to wait longer for the deliciousness....shrimp, catfish, whities, Mac n chz, sweet potatoes, French fries, and corn. I never had corn like that in my 57 years of life.....thank you FINALLY a meal worth purchasing and worth the wait according to my son...Follow up...I originally ordered from crown heights, they are still 🔥 in my eyes.....today my son wanted me to order again so I DID, this time from the Halsey address....I ordered the oxtail dinner with peas n rice rice n collards....the collards was ok...the peas n rice and the oxtail seemed under cooked FOR ME...the oxtail I had to FIGHT to get off the bone and the rice was hard..I know there are a lot of people who enjoy it that way ( the flavor was on point tho) but thats not my preference....I ordered the catfish, shrimp n fries the shrimp never made it to my house THAT IS 1 AND 1/2 DEDUCTION..if nothing else AT LEAST GET THE ORDER RIGHT....we waited longer although the place was closer and the order was missing an item....but back to the taste of the food...THAT CATFISH WAS OH SO DAMN GOOD!!!!I also ordered the rasta pasta and jerk ckn which wasnt bad and I ordered the seafood mac n chz, paired that with fried catfish and I TELL YOU I WAS IN HEAVEN...ok lets wrap it up I will DEFINITELY order from them again 😅🙃 I will ALWAYS ORDER THE FISH ( hence bedstuy fish fry) but steer away from the oxtail n rice...southern dishes YES!!!! Caribbean dishes NO....HALSEY ST need to do better, other issue was not securing the oxtail gravy....they served it in the wrong container whereas the order came in 3 different type of containers they just selected the wrong container ( probably because they didnt have a bigger version of the container they shouldve used). They definitely serve NICE PORTIONS of food

I Ordered The Honey Glaze Salmon It Was Very Salty I Could not Eat It , the Mac And Cheese Was Very Dry. It Was More Like boiled Macaroni with cheese on top , Dry Dry With Seasoning On It . I have Never encounter This before . Not only that Yes The Prices Are Much Higher The Service Is Has Dropped And Then You want To Give People Half The Food. Sorry but this review was So Necessary . 2022-03-28Ordered steamed catfish, string beans & asparagus. I have eaten here before but was disappointed with the high amount of salt in the catfish. I choose steamed as a healthy choice & it was inpalatable. The string beans was great. The asparagus had 2 to 3 tips & mixed stalk which was mainly the bottom large area which was too hard to chew or eat. This was a $22 meal. Dont offer asparagus if over 50% of it is not edible.I waited months for you to reopen. Please do better.

2022-06-16Horrible service. No customer service skills at all. They play around while people wait in line for over 20 mins to support there business. The dark skin cashier is a joke. She should not have a service job. They need a new staff. I just walked out I will not give my money to no black owned business that hires people that gave no respect.
