This place is very cool and extremely historic. We stayed in a building just behind the main hotel and it required a walk outside. Unfortunately it was a cold rainy day and umbrellas would have been a nice thing to have which they did not supply unfortunately. Thats my only negative comment. Everything else was fantastic. We ate two meals one dinner and one breakfast brunch and both were absolutely delicious. We highly recommend this place.
I love this place so much, we booked our intimate wedding at the historic Inn. The Townsend and Courtyard accommodations are spacious and have gas fireplaces. The Tavern is charming and the restaurant areas are historically decorated. The food keeps folks returning so make reservations. The town of Rhinebeck is full of charm, shops and restaurants. You are not far from the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, Hyde Park and Red Hook. You will love this so stay at least 2 nights! Laurie Kane
Formerly a classic but now just a classic dump. We brought a pet but didn’t realize that meant being relegated to a ground floor room with a linoleum floor. The mattress was as hard as a box spring , and required stilts to climb into (I’m 6’1” and still had trouble climbing into bed, the room phone didn’t work, and the bathroom stuff (soap, shampoo, etc.) were doled out like war rations. Poor quality linens, paper-thin walls, nasty, cheap furnishings, a grand total of four hangers in the closet… at luxe prices.
I always love the atmosphere of the Beekman Arms. We had a table of 8 experiencing the dinner theatre, for A Xmas Carol performance. The performance was truly entertaining and the food was very good. However, 3 people at our table never received their desserts, and there was no waiters to be found in order to request. Also, our waiter seemed to be very stressed, by the way he answered some of us. This however, will not stop us from coming back to the Beekman Arms.
We stayed for one night in September 2021 at Beekman Arms, Americas oldest inn! The building itself is beautiful, historical, and convenient in the heart of Rhinebeck. There are many shops, restaurants, and cafés in the area. Our room was comfortable and even had a bath we really enjoyed. And dinner at the restaurant was delicious! The only thing we missed was breakfast! And the lobby/counter efficiency could be better, but in general, we loved it here.
Maybe a historic place but needs more care. Accommodations were poor. Rooms need updating. Checked in and they never told us we would be on second level with no elevator. Bed squeaks curtains need repair. No complimentary breakfast. They could have provide credit towards local coffee shop. Would not recommend staying here.
We Love the Beekman Arms so much! Been there many times. Its so historic & beautifully kept. Have stayed in the main inn & the Delamatter House, Both are beautiful, clean, comfortable, quaint & historic . The Tavern restaurant in the main inn (downstairs) is fantastic! Unique, historic tavern with awesome food. The atrium room is so nice for breakfast or lunch with cocktails.
Very disappointing experience. The cost for two nights was just under $700. What dont you get for that? The wifi exists but doesnt work properly (which, when I told them about it, they said they already know). There is no one to assist in bringing your luggage to the room, Basically youre on your own. For the almost $700 we were not in the main house, there was no lobby or anyone at the house to help you - you basically let yourself in and out. For $150 per night Id give it four stars. I would give it only one star but it was clean and the staff was nice.
I grew up just across the river from the Beekman Arms and moved away right after high school. It is always been a dream of mine to come to this beautiful historic place if for nothing else then to just eat a meal.Coming here has been one of the highlights of my trip. I cant believe Im actually here. The food is delicious and expertly prepared. The staff here is incredibly warm and accommodating. And what can I say about the interior? This place is rife with American history. I look around the room and in my minds eye I can imagine colonial diners and travelers frequenting this place.I plan to walk around and look at more of the interior before I leave. Ive already finished my meal and I cant bring myself to get up from the table because I really dont want to leave. This is such a wonderful place. The next time Im in the area Im going to treat myself to a stay in one of their rooms.
I was just there in August of this year 2021, stayed at the cheeper rooms down the road. Parking lot was rutted, rooms are very plain, stain on desk, but bathrooms were very clean. Rugs were clean also except my sister found a bottle cap under her bed. My sister said at least theres that good breakfast but through no fault of the Inn there was no breakfast because they cant get people to work. Ive stayed in the more expensive rooms there and they are beautiful, if you have the extra I would stay at the inn or their other buildings. Even after tax the room came to well over $100 and I feel they need a little tlc, people that worked there were very nice and friendly.
Where to begin....the Inn itself is an incredible living tribute to American History. The first floor is a tasteful preservation to its historical foundation. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful...The issue I found most disappointing was the second floor, specifically our room which was featured as one of the rooms on their web site as one of their best rooms. Oh my...I would hate to see the lesser rooms. It was large. That was nice. One would think with the Historical significance of the Inn as their focal point, the rooms themselves would actually reflect that.It did not, at all! Horrible. In fact, the room was quite puzzling with mismatched and dated furniture that seemed to be from the 1980s. There is a strange Angel Garden craft item designed for an actual garden, screwed to the wall! The wallpaper is dated, not in a historical way, trust me...the carpeting even worse. There was actually a Day Bed in the room instead of a couch which just did not belong. If their selling point is additional sleeping accommodations, get a pull-out sofa for Gods sake.I am still trying to figure out the kitchen table and chairs in front of the fireplace. Why is this in this room at all?The pictures on the wall were about as bad as can be and nothing reflective of history. I can not even begin to describe how bad these were. More closely associated with what you would see at a Craft Fair than Americas oldest operating Inn.Oh, and No breakfast! Not even Continental with a Danish or juice. Get yourself coffee on a small table.. thats it!Just a couple of thoughts to the Inn:Adding a Continental Breakfast in the rear area near the bar would be a pleasant and expected service for your paying Guests. For the rooms..install some crown molding, paint the walls, wooden historical floors with an appropriate area rug, period furniture and historical art work with some actual window treatments instead of vinyl blinds would turn this from an 80s craft nightmare to an interesting and historical pleasing room that Guests would appreciate and return to again and again. For the money they charge, I had much higher expectations.I would recommend a visit to the First Floor of the Inn as part of your walking tour of the Town. Maybe a drink at the bar, lunch or dinner as part of your visit. Definitely find another place for your overnight stay.Obviously the most recent owner has no interest in the Historical Community and ambiance of this beautiful Historical town. It is a real shame...The Inn is the focul point of the Town and the owner either does not understand or does not care...
Second time eating here recently , second time being thoroughly disappointed.. last time I ordered a rueben and they said they didn’t have spicy brown mustard, for a rueben. Today we ordered the Belgian waffle and the ham omelette , which was literally a big flat scrambled egg with a slice of ham inside it. I asked for maple syrup, the server first said, ‘that is maple syrup’ I responded , ‘not a chance’. Then he came back and said sorry that’s the only kind we have ( pancake syrup), my 7 yr old niece said ‘ they could’ve at least said they ran out’ , also the use frozen ‘ just add water’ orange juice from concentrate while charging the same price for it that I would expect to pay for fresh squeezed orange juice at any restaurant.
The place exudes the beauty of history and it’s verily endearing, the environs are beautiful as is the town. The restaurant was charming and there is a nice hall in the restaurant that is very dark and completely made of wood which I found marvelous. The food was exquisite and service was very attentive and kind. Thank you for keeping up such a picturesque living reminder of the glorious beginnings of this nation
Its a tale of two hotel rooms here on this two night visit, firstly I want to thank Beekman arms for accommodating my change of rooms without charging extra even though the room I moved into was probably more expensive than the first room I was in. I started my visit in the building out back of the main hotel, room was nice! king size bed, big TV, AC, decanter of sherry waiting in the room. All awesome stuff. Unfortunately there were several house flys enjoying the accommodation with me, whenever I turned a light on, they came to say hello, sat in bed with laptop on. Same story. Just really difficult to get to sleep and enjoy the room. The following morning I came to the front desk to explaned the situation. They were great. The front desk really turned a negative into a positive! Got me a room in the main building that was excellent. Night two was a different story, sherry was waiting in the decanter, no flies or any other unwanted visitors. In the end would I recommend? Yes as long as its not the building out back. Thanks to Beekman arms for turning my experience into a positive one.
Had a lovely evening. The service and food was fantastic. Steelhead trout with potatoes, red peppers and artichokes was a meal on the special menu. Cooked to perfection and not dry nor fishy, indicating freshness. Looking forward to the next time here. It was also great taking in all the history of a location thats older than the nation.
I stayed here a few years ago and it was a great place to spend the night because he was the oldest in in America. Kind of cool to stay in the oldest in America but you could tell it’s really old inside which is kind of cool but on the other hand a little spooky. The place has now gotten food as well which I haven’t tried but looks really good.
Our reservation here was a Christmas present to my wife made mid-December. She wanted to stay at the oldest continually operated Inn in the country. With Covid, I expected the usual inconvenience the new normal has brought. We were caught by surprise when we arrived at 6pm to find the Tavern was closed until further notice. Hindsight 20-20, I checked and it is now noted on the website but it wasnt the beginning of last week. The desk clerk was mildly friendly but didnt really offer any dining options. She sent us up the street in the cold to a resturant that had locked doors and a buzzer saying buzz to pick-up orders placed online. Long story short we drove 20 minutes to a great place in Kingston (the Hoffman House) recommended by another guest. A quick email in advance of our stay notifying us the Tavern was closed with dining options would have been nice. The room was quaint, but needs some sprucing up. The furniture looks like it came from a yard sale and if you call 1960s colonial antique youll be happy. Then the breakfast. We filled out a form when we checked in to pick-up a bagged breakfast to eat in the room. Rather than have it ready, they had one very nice sweet lady trying to take care of each order as well as check people out. Nothing pre-packed (with the exception of coffee it was all cold, easy to pre-bag). There was one person that already had her bag, waiting for her coffee when I went down, I waited 20 minutes. The building is old, quaint and historical. The list of names of the people who have stayed here is impressive. For the price I paid for a Saturday night in January, it was not worth the money. All hype, do yourself a favor stay at a Hampton Inn, the room will be cleaner, breakfast better, service way better, and youll pay 1/3 the price. If you want to experience the Beekman Arms like we did, walk through the lobby and downstairs parlor room and tavern. Its beautiful, but skip the overnight stay.
Historic and charming. The rooms were styled with an ode to its history, but were very clean with a modern bathroom. The welcome Sherry was a lovely touch! We ate at the inn for dinner, and the food was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. The fireplace and common areas encouraged gathering with a book or for chatting with friends. Great location to wander the streets of Rhinebeck. The continental breakfast in the morning was not particularly special, but the fare was local and it was nice to have it included. Due to the age and history of the facility, I would not recommend staying in the main inn for any guests with mobility issues, as steps are a must and floors in the hallways and between sections are uneven.
Found parking spots easily, just a block away. Beautiful setting inside a historic landmark.Walked on the grounds and ate at the restaurant. The menu consisted of a total of about 15 mostly American dishes including soups and salads, food tasted OK, prices were reasonable, service was slow to OK, despite having several empty tables.A band of 3 musicians playing at the lawn outside, and a cider stand, created a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.Being a history buff, I enjoyed the overall setting, so I will go back and I would recommend this place to others.
Hadnt been in many years, and its just as i remember. The food is outrageously good, and only surpassed by the service. The photo includes part of the appetizer, avocado toast with smoked salmon, as not to misrepresent the sirloin dish. Fresh greens cooked perfectly with a light citrus dressing, fries with roasted herbs, and perfectly cooked sirloin smothered in sweet onions. Cant wait to return for more long list of specialty drinks and drafts!
My wife and I have gone to the Christmas Day dinner 8 out of the last 10 years. This year was by far the worst. Selection of food was minimal, quality of food and temperature of food was poor. The dessert table which in the past offered many home cooked items looked like the selections were purchased at a local grocery store and the presentation was not done very well. The wait staff was excellent but failed to offer us the soup as an appetizer. Looking for other Christmas Day options after this experience.
For $300 at least we should have a water bottle in the room. The A.C was so noisy like a motor from a plain! I understand the room is antique... but so poorly decorated. Breakfast another disappointment, coffee, muffins and yogurts.Staff...not friendly...Just happy that the town was very cute, and staff from other places they were fantastic.
It’s right in the centre of Rhinebeck and a beautiful historic building. It might be due to COVID but the service was really poor. Staff were unfriendly and seemed stretched. The rooms also need some work - bulbs were out in bathroom and paint flaking on the walls. There was just no attention to detail. Expected more for 230 rate. The breakfast is also not really a breakfast and not worth it.
This is the 3rd or 4th visit Ive made. Every time other than this, everything about our experience was amazing. This time our waiter was very young and inexperienced. Food was good but I will skip the fried calamari next time. It was kinda fishy tasting and unpleasant. Steak frites were very good.
Havent stayed there yet but love going there for dinner and drinks. Oldest working inn in the USA Im told. Food has always been good and the atmosphere in the bar area is very cozy. The fireplace in the lobby adds a special warmth if youre waiting for a table during the cold weather season.
We have stayed at the Beekman Inn six or seven times and have loved everything about it. My husbands brother and his wife joined us this weekend. We made reservations in July and asked for rooms in the Beekman Arms. They were wonderful. Very comfortable, beautifully furnished and very welcoming. We had a fabulous dinner in the Tap Room. The continental breakfasts were great and we loved sitting in the sunroom. It was a fabulous weekend and we plan on visiting every year!!!!!!!
Stayed at the stone house. It was pricey and room was fine, semi-updated. The room faced the parking lot and the very bright outdoor light shined in all night and the blinds were semi-broken, so the light couldnt be blocked. Also, the continental breakfast was sup-par. We did eat at the brunch. The waitress was very kind and fast. Unfortunately, the brunch was sup-par and expensive. The waffles were great! I would stay away from the omelette.
Stopped in for quick drink. Patrons next to us were eating at the bar and their food presentation was beautiful. Great atmosphere for the history buff and the dim lights and dark woods bring you back to 1700s. Hotel was sold out for Saturday night so make reservations. Rhinebeck is a fun town to walk around too.
The Beekman Arms had been a special place for my husband and me. We hadnt been back in 15 years and were so looking forward to it. Unfortunately it now is showing its age. On the outside it still looks lovely and charming but there were a variety of disappointments on the inside. The Tavern food was delicious but the bathroom had no hot water. Our rooms (Courtyard) were tired looking. The refrigerator smelled, the curtains needed attention and the ceiling had a cheap patching job. The comforter wasnt anything special and the tissues were like sandpaper. The complimentary sherry was a nice idea (if you like it) but 2 water bottles would have been more appreciated. The is no ventilation in the bathroom and the fireplace goes off too quickly. We missed being able to make a real fire. There was even a stain on the mantel from a coffee cup. We had brought along some friends to share our long awaited return and weresaddened with the conditions we found.
Mother’s Day brunch 5/22/19. Called kind of late (2weeksprior) and got very lovely helpful women named Diane .. more them accommodating when I explained having an elderly mom and my concerns re: that issue. She is the sole reason I gave 2 stars. I grew up in the area and have not been here in years.... but when I was there the restaurant was lovely and the food delicious. This time was sadly very disappointed. The nice women walking around introduced herself as new manager. Here is what I didn’t like about my Mother’s Day experience. The waiters were very sweet but each time I asked for anything it required asking more then once...the food on the buffet was barely warm... I mean barely warm. The only bread I saw were full sized bagels sliced in half dumped on a tray with crumbs all over the table. Everyone loves a good bagel but they should have been cut in neater smaller pieces. Since other food other then breakfast served some dinner rolls would be nice. No butter in sight. Asked for some different bread and butter which was brought after asking more then once as mentioned previously. Also when you have a carving station in is customary to place steak knives onthe table... which we did get after asking more then once. Window leaking rain onto greenhouse floor. The overall selection of food and quality/taste was very far from previous visits . If this is new management you definitely need to step up your game. Most people don’t review but heard several people make similar comments. I’m making suggestions as a consumer as I would love to see the quality improve as it’s a beautiful old landmark.
The room was very large and well done. The inn provided a black hand towel for makeup and make up remover pads which was really thoughtful! The restaurant was charming and it was in perfect walking distance of a couple great places. Only downside was the breakfast provided was cereal and toast. For the quality of the inn they should offer a better breakfast, but not a deal breaker.
We were SO looking forward to staying here. We had a very disappointing and mediocre experience. The front desk staff barely greeted us. We received no information on the inn, the community or things to do. We’ve had better greetings at the Holiday Inn.The room was clean. It was fine. My only complaint is the note from the housekeeping staff asking for a tip. Seriously, we paid $234.00 for the night and we are being asked to supplement the housekeepers salary. So dissatisfying. The complimentary breakfast was fine. Sadly, we were expecting delicious. It was simply ok, what with the sandwich bread for toast and zero service. We couldn’t even get water served to us.Although the Inn was nice, our visit was overall disappointing. We will visit Rhinebeck again, but not The Beekman Arms. 😕
The most historical restaurant in our area. When you walk in it is like experiencing a moment of the past. Food is always stellar. We held our sons and daughter in laws wedding rehearsal dinner here for 24 people, had our own separate dining room, and it could have not been any more perfect. We dine here frequently.
Visited the Beekman arms for dinner this past weekend. We had a reservation and arrived slightly ahead of our reserved time. The hostess uttered not one welcoming comment or smile. We were seated in a smaller dining room which was very nice as it was quieter with ample room between tables. Our drink order and appetizers were delivered promptly HOWEVER, we waited nearly 45 minutes for our entrees to be served. The restaurant was busy but 45 minutes in between courses is ABSURD!!When questioned about the inordinate amount of time we were waiting, the waiter advised us the kitchen had 200 tickets to fill. I am assuming then that the kitchen cannot adequately deliver acceptable service when the restaurant is really busy !We watched as a nearby couple grew tired of waiting for their food and got up to leave. The waiter appeared with their dinners in hand asking them to stay - announcing there would be NO charge for their meal. They declined and left. I was tempted to follow suit but did not want to find another restaurant at that point. When our food finally did arrive, it was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We did not stay for desert, fearing another unacceptable wait. We went to a nearby restaurant for coffee and dessert.I will give this place another shot as I feel the food is well worth a second chance. I am hoping the waiter is right when he told us the food generally does not take that long.PS. The meet and greet person should present herself as somewhat welcoming. Her behavior was awkward.
We had 6:00 PM reservations for dinner on 12/7. We arrived at 5:40 PM and checked in with the hostess. We told her that we would be in the bar area and she said she would come to the bar when our table was ready and seat us. At 6:02 we went back to the hostess and asked for our table and she said they were setting our table up and it would be ready in 5 minutes and again we were told they would come to the bar and seat us. 6:15 back to the hostess asking for our table, again same old line getting table ready, she would come and get us in a few moments.6:30, back to the hostess asking for our table. I said asked her for one of the booths at the bar area but she said they were reserved. the funny thing is we had reservations at 6 PM, why wasnt our table reserved for my party at 6PMI cannot believed this happened to us. I would think that you would have the capabilities to seat a reserved table on time. We will not be returning anytime soon. Maybe you should look at hiring competent staff.
About the restaurant only.Love the Waiters, service is great! As a local, I always liked to go there for the bar and the terrace but not anymore. Was much, much better under the old management. Now you got squeezed portions, cold food and everything is higher-priced.Also, dont waste your time trying to talk with the new restaurant manager...My recommendation is to have a drink at the Beekman, enjoy the ambiance of this 1700s Inn, but eat dinner somewhere, maybe anywhere else.
Staff is very unknowledgeable. They dont know what beers they have... On tap! We asked for no starches and extra veggies. My order was completely screwed up. I got my meal (pot roast) on top of massaged potatoes. They took the plate back to fix it. The portions are small the prices seem reasonable until your done eating and still hungry. It used to be much better here.
Beekman Arms is located in the village of Rhinebeck, NY. It is a charming historic restaurant and Inn. Ive never stayed at the Inn but have heard good things about it. I frequent the restaurant about once a month. The atmosphere is casual with four different dining areas to choose from; outdoor seating, Greenhouse, Main restaurant and Bar area. The menu has a large variety to choose from and prices are reasonable. They have soups, salads, lamb, pork, steak, burgers and pasta dishes. My last visit I had the roasted pear salad and New York strip steak it was all delicious as usual.
Went there for my uncles birthday party. Staff were excellent and hysterical. Split the French Onion Soup with my dad, was nice and cheesy. Ordered the Saratoga Club with salad. The sandwich itself was delicious, the salad was arugula heavy, which Im personally not a fan of, but it was very fresh.
Ive never stayed at the hotel but the restaurant is wonderful. I love the old-time atmosphere (i think its oldest inn in the US). The food is really, really good. great dessert menu and every time ive been there, Ive had excellent service. At various times throughout the year they offer apple cider donuts as a dessert option--omg, sooo good. This is one of my go-to places when I have guests visiting and its always a big hit.
I was part of a 10 person dinner reservation on a Saturday night. Our table was waiting for us at 5pm. The entire experience was terrific. The wait staff was superb, the food magnificent, and we never had to wait for anything, despite our party size. Ive been coming to the Beek for years, and will continue to do so.
The dinner menu was boringly standard, with eye opening prices relative to the area. I tried their salmon, lettuce wedge salad, and their burger. The bun in the burger was such a disappointment — I sincerely wonder if it was bordering on stale.Eat and drink here if you want to see something old and historic. Just don’t be surprised if the dishes taste historic too.
They deliberately overbooked, apparently, and we had to wait for ten minutes outside in the freezing blustery air before we could even get inside. The meal was a buffet, and we had about a half hour wait. The food was quite good, to be sure, but while there were two serving lines for the buffet, there was only one meat station at the end, which slowed things down considerably. We will not return, and I heard several others saying the same thing.
George Washington slept here but they have remodeled the bathrooms but not the delightful creaky floors. our reservation was lost but they squeezed us. into the 3 rd floor walk up, no elevator. A nice young woman helped with the bags. There was a window but no view. Window ac was appreciated in the heat wave. Yes we would stay again. The tavern was fun and antique.
Extraordinary!! We went there in the middle of winter, with four feet of snow on the ground and the fireplace was amazing, the glassed in garden for breakfast was warm and cozy, and the food was delicious. It is walking distance from the historic area with lots of antique shops. Dont miss the huge bathrooms in the larger suites. This is a shouldnt miss staying there hotel.
Since 1766 The Beekman Arms Tavern has been the destination for rest & relaxation, a hearty menu and liquid fortifications. The menu is solid with something for everyone. The Tavern Burger, Chicken Pot Pie, Prime Rib Sandwich, Classic Wedge Salad are perfect offerings for lunch and the dinner menu offers again a perfect variation of classic selections: prime rib, trout, braised short ribs etc.Table and bar service is consistently good. The bar is favorite of locals and if youre visiting dont hesitate to ask for their suggestions on where to go and what to see in the area.
Great location and catering. Efficient set-up of seating and satellite bar. Storied venue as the mementos from the colonial era attest. The review was conducted during the Debate on Immigration which the Dutchess County Libertarian Party hosted on November 11th, 2019.
The Tavern is in an Inn that dates back to 1766.We usually come up after Labor Day but this year we decided to wait for the Peak Fall Colors.Eating in the Tavern is an old tradition with us.Home made loaded Kettle Chips with Bacon, Chedder, and Sour Cream was great..The Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail came with a Cocktail Sauce that had something added that gave it a very good but different taste.A Reuben Sandwich was on a Marble Rye / Pumpernickel and the Corned Beef melted in my mouth.Cob Salad with Smoked Chicken came with huge Avacado slices and was deliciously fresh. Many, by the glass, wines are offered and the prices are reasonable. Peak Fall Colors and The Tavern at The Beekman Arms, this is not a bad way to go through life.
I was meeting a few friends for dinner and arrived quite early. While I waited, I sat in a comfortable chair in front of a lovely fire. I was offered a pot of tea that warmed me up and, before I knew it, my friends arrived. We had a wonderful dinner together. Ill definitely be back!
I made a reservation in September of 2018 for a workshop this weekend 5/16/19. When I arrived this weekend I was told my room was in the back, one of 4 detached rooms set aside for people with pets. I mentioned that I didn’t have a pet and preferred the main building and the desk attendant said “the back is part of the hotel too”. There was a lot of noise and unpleasant situation. When I checked out the desk attendant said if she had been aware, she would have changed as there were other rooms. Right. Single woman traveling alone perhaps?
Its not often you find a restaurant and want to really tell everyone about how good the setting, food, service and price was, but I will tell you this. The Beekman Arms checked off on everyone one of these items. First off the setting and the quaint charm of the bedroom community of Rhinebeck, NY, is more that enough to talk about all by itself and kudos to the town for achieving this, but the 18th Century feel of the Beekman was enough to make you feel you were actually back in the time of the Colonials. We came upon the Beekman after a long day at the Country Living Fair and wanted someplace quiet to sit back and relax and enjoy each others company, have drinks and a good meal. After looking around town at the number of great restaurant settings, we came upon the Beekman Arms Hotel and were instantly welcomed as if we had been there before . We chose to sit outside and take in the beautiful Upstate New York night and were immediately received by our waitress Corrine. She was so pleasant and treated us both so well, even at this late hour, and so close to the closing time. She reminded us that we need not rush, because she would not close until we had been served and finished our meal. Our meal consisted of my wife choosing the Stuffed Shrimp and I, the Rack of Lamb. I will honestly tell you, that this was without a doubt one of the BEST meals that either of us have ever had and hats off to the chef. Now, I am no food connoisseur by any means, but we have been to so many restaurants in our lives and this one will definitely stick out as a top 5 forever. So if youre ever in the area and just wanted to go back in time and enjoy the great service, food and setting the Beekman Arms has to offer, then I would highly recommend you stopping by this wonderful hotel. Thanks again to our most gracious waitress, Corrine, for this enjoyable experience. You have definitely perfected your craft and the Beekman should be proud to have someone like you representing them. I would also like to thank you for saving the day by finding my wifes cell phone. That was truly a lifesaver for her and I .Sincerely,Kevin & ReneeCamp Hill, Pa
We are staying at the Delmater Inn, our suite type room cost $259 in mid-November Friday night. The office here at the Delameter is closed, we had to go across and down the street to the Beekman Arms to register. Just the start of things, but sets the tone.1) Despite our reservation the heat was off and the room was about 60 degrees when we entered.2) There are two dead lady bugs on a table in the room.3) Despite the time of year my husband kiiled 3 flies in the room.4) The phone in the room to use for internal calls wasnt connected right and couldnt be used. (I fixed it.)5) I want to take a bath, there is no stopper in the bathroom and no device to use to retain the water for a bath.6) Called to get a stopper using my cell phone, no one picks up, had to leave a message with the hotels answering service. This at 8:30 pm. Guess they are busy serving at the bar, too busy to pick up the phone.7) Someone did return my call, she has to speak to the GM and maintenance about this. She will get back to me. 20 minutes later, she responds with no progress on the stopper issue. I offer that someone could go to another room, take the stopper from there and give it to us, but she doesnt know if other rooms have stroppers. She offers to move us to another room, we say no we are too tired. She agrees we are getting sub-par service and will speak to the GM.I dont know what the deal is here, why the Bechman Arms owns this place across the street, but if they own it they should run it much better than this. Most places are much better at 1/2 this charge. Dont stay here.
I have dined at the Beekman for years and loved every time, but the last time I went we were very disappointed in the French dip sandwich, we have had better at a diner. I have also experience a few friends that live in Rhinebeck express how the menu or food has changed for the worst and they are not happy.Being the fabulous one of a kind establishment that Beekman has been for over 200 years, I would suggest getting a real chef in there otherwise, many of us will be heading across the street to one of the many other places to eat. Please dont fix what was not broken.
Beautiful and filled with American history. In existence since 1760 and as told by the workers is filled with spirits. Was resistance for a time of George Washington and many other notable American heroes.Went on a ghost tour in the basement with a group and was shown underground tunnels where colonist hid from the British and was also used for the Underground Railroad. The interior is timeless, something you would never see in today’s architecture. Huge plank wood floors, fireplaces throughout and a front door so huge, for the purpose of getting the Cannon in and out.Food was great and the neighborhood is just gorgeous.
Ive enjoyed my trips to the Beekman Arms for many years. Unfortunately this most recent visit was certainly not at the same level as past visits. Brought my elderly parents there for lunch. Made a reservation for a table in the Greenhouse, hoping to make it easier for my parents. Was I surprised when we were seated as far from the Greenhouse as possible. Trouble with our drink order twice from the outset. Was caught in a dispute between the waitress and bartender over how to make a gimlet, then it took 15 more minutes to receive my fathers martini. Hope this is an aberration.
We stayed here recently to be near my aunt in Northern Dutchess and wished we slept in our tent instead. The staff was some of the worst Ive seen. One of the desk staff reeked like pot. I turned a corner near the lobby to catch one of the maids happily picking her nose while scrolling through her cell phone. Way to go BA..only hiring the best! The room was old and filthy, probably cleaned by the booger-picking maid. When we pulled the comforter back there was a brown skidmark on the sheet. Either someone was eating a chocolate doughnut in the bed before we got there or the previous customer ran out of toilet paper. There was dust and dead bugs all over the dirty windows.Either way, we switched rooms and got to the new room and discovered the toilet water, for whatever reason smelled like fish tacos. The bathroom floor was sticky and when I was in the shower the water turned a rusty brown color for about 3 seconds.I tried to go to bed early, but the couple in the next room actually yelled to each other instead of talking and their TV was so loud that I could hear every word. I called the front desk twice and actually got no answer. They mustve all been busy out back smoking a joint or doing something more important.I left the hotel the next morning more tired than I came and actually felt dirtier. Its one of the oldest hotels in America and apparently so is their quality. I should have made them pay me to stay there, thats how bad it was. I will never return.
Nice visit. Obviously a little dated because its a very old hotel. Theyve done their best to keep the historic character while making it a bit more comfortable, but bear in mind you are staying in a 250+ year old building with creaky floors, light gaps in the curtains/doorways, etc.
How disappointing! $219 +tax / night to be put in a motel style room in the back of the parking lot (albeit quiet enough) made me realize read the fine print is still very much a thing! The AC worked well but was so loud. The funniest part was the cheap version of a 4 post bed placed so that if you wanted to watch TV, anywhere you were on the bed, the screen was obstructed! The bathroom was the worst. 2 tiny cheap quality soaps, the tiniest btls of shampoo & conditioner & plastic glass convinced me once and for all I was in a very very expensive motel room. And I wont go into the noises akin to a dog howling when someone (our bathroom or the one next door} is taking a shower. I went to the reception & asked for Q tips; was told no we dont have anything like that for our guests. Let me repeat, this was not a cheap motel off the highway, this is the Beekmans, the oldest Inn in the USA. No class whatsoever! Breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 was also a joke. Half & half was the only choice for your morning tea/coffee. The second morning we were there, they ran out of eggs by 8:45! The fruit bowl was 80% pineapple. 1 kind of bread for toast... Need I go on? ...try any other bed and breakfast for the money, I know we will!
Paid over a 1K for two days -extremely overpriced, stayed in the firehouse which is outside the main building one of the employees parked his car in the designated spot. The room was like in a Motel !the breakfast was the worst part kind of a Motel 6 continental !the front desk was indifferent to say the least.overall felt tricked .
You step into a different era of time when you stay in Beekman Arms-Delamater. Yes maybe the floors are creaky and slanted, some rooms can improve the look and feel, but in my honest opinion those add to the character of the place. You can always go to a generic hotel with cookie cutter rooms and no personality and get better amenities, but then you cant be a part of history and have a chance to stay in the oldest Inn of America. Set your expectations accordingly...
Beautiful inn and tavern in continuous operation since 1766 so much happened here and so many famous have slept here including George Washington truly that you just feel the history and entire town is charming and well worth a visit I loved it we had lunch at the Beekman
I dined in this establishment recently and Ive got to say it was the most money Ive ever paid to be disappointedI personally love a nice prime rib and decided to get the king cut rareWhen I received my bowl full of food clearly to distract from how tiny the portions wereI was aggravated by every aspect including the fact that the steak was closer to mediumThe king cut at any other establishment is typically enough to eat for 2 or 3 meals this at best could be described as a petite cut but I was charged top dollarMy fiance and her aunt received what can only be described as a drum stick and a thigh of a Cornish game hen nestled on some piped potatoes and her uncle received a short rib roast that was small and disappointingAs well as the fact that the food took so long to come that the wait staff came over to apologize at least twiceThe only nice thing that can be said was the drinks at dinner were delicious and the bartender was very skilled and socialSo all in all 200$ wasted on a night out and I had to stop at mcdonalds on my way home anywayI remember a time when the beekman arms was a very well run establishmentThe new owners and management are sullying the good name of a piece of local history
Delamater inn is horrible! Room was so hot had to ask for a fan which isnt helping ! Asked as soon as we got here if I could have different room was questioned as to why and was basically told no ! I WILL NOT be coming back ! Beds are like sleeping on a cement brick ! Tv is so small its ridiculous even with my glasses on I couldnt see it ! HORRIBLE!

2021-12-21Stayed in period room which had a warm and cozy ambiance. Was told that the room across the hall is haunted so it took me a long while to finally fall asleep. The staff is so friendly and helpful. We initially stayed in the firehouse room which was quite large with a large living room area and a large bathroom with a spa-like jacuzzi tub in addition to the shower as well. We felt quite comfortable and at home at the Beekman Arms and look forward to returning again. Its disappointing that they donthave the usual breakfast service in the atrium dining area due to covid etc. Do try having a delicious meal and cocktails in the Inns historic tavern and pub on the premises.

2022-05-07Very underwhelmed with the room given the cost. Maybe the historical rooms are nicer, in the main section, but the room I had was in the building behind the hotel. Honestly been more impressed with the majority of chain hotels, room was dark, outdated and depressing, ugly colors and furniture. No breakfast that I was aware of possibly due to covid. Would not go back. Location is central to town, walk to restaurants, bars and shops. Really that was the only upside.

2022-03-14Very disappointed with our stay but the customer service or lack thereof is infuriating. We had many issues during our stay that we wanted addressed when we checked out but were brushed off. We then wrote a letter two weeks ago which I have attached below and have yet to receive a response. My wife and I were recent guests. Upon checking out on the morning of February 21st, we were asked by the staff at the front desk if everything was to our liking. It wasn’t. Instead of writing you a searing online review, we took the time to write you a note about the issues we had with the room. She took our note and said a manager would be in contact with us but it has now been over a week and we are still waiting for someone to care enough to respond. To reiterate, here are some of the issues we had in our room:1. The heater sounded like a freight train every time it kicked on approximately every 30 minutes.2. The bathroom door didn’t close.3. There was a giant spider on the ceiling above the sink. Since it was February, it was probably a dead spider that had been there for some time.4. The sink was chipped and rusting. There was also no hot water in that tap at night.5. One of the lights in the room didn’t work. But the biggest issues we had with the room weren’t written down. The Delamater Inn should not be associated with the rich and storied history of the Beekman Arms Inn. We had come to celebrate President’s Day with the oldest hotel in America and instead of feeling the inspiring spirit of Washington, Hamilton, and Roosevelt, we felt like we were in a sad motel with cheap blankets, thankful that we hadn’t booked more nights. The building and room were both run down with nothing remotely historic about it. Associating this with the Beekman Arms feels like false advertising. We checked in on the 20th of February, and were in room #64. The full rate was $239 plus taxes and fees.We are expecting a response. This letter is also being sent to the Historic Hotels of America, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

2022-02-15After visiting, I think we got the smallest, less awesome room in the Delamater House- Queen Room. It didnt look anything like any of the pictures provided. Our room was small, outdated and not in the antique, historical way, but just old, cheap, and not well thought out. Not really worth it for the price. They did leave a sample of NY Sherry in the room, which was nice. The Tavern - was not that good for the price either - staff wasnt friendly and food was just okay. I wholly regret not eating somewhere else for our early Valentines Day dinner.

2022-05-24Well, the best thing I can say is that check-in was easy, but it went downhill from there. We were in the Village Inn, a former motel that is part of the property. It is rundown, to say the least. The toilet was cracked, the sink was cracked, everything is worn, the room was never serviced. The breakfast offered extremely stale baked goods and they were out of coffee. I opted to leave the keys at checkout without waiting for a printed receipt with the understanding a receipt would be emailed to me as stated on a notice in the office. After several phone calls in which it was claimed one had been sent, no receipt. Definitely NOT worth the money. Im never going back if I can help it.

2022-07-07The food and service was excellent. The serving size was generous. The atmosphere was pleasant. Just be prepared to pay very high prices. The worse part of our visit was finding parking.

2022-05-08My wife and I came to Beekman for Mothers Day brunch. We learned after we sat down (as did other customers) that brunch was a buffet despite the fact on the website there was a brunch menu that consistedof onion soup, a burger, braised beef, etcThe brunch which had a wonderful assortment of choices lacked scramble eggs to go along with bacon and lox (salmon). Also inclusion of a 20% Gratuity was not appropriate.

2022-02-20Front desk rude. You will not be staying in the historical inn. Parking is hard to find. Rooms are not in the main building and you will need to drag your luggage through the side streets. Any assistance does not exist. We paid a very high price for no service at all. Wait ..I will take that back and say I felt very uncomfortable by attempting to get service from the front desk staff. They made me feel as if I was annoying them just to check in. The Inn is trying to capitalize on the history of the place. I have stayed at chain hotels that have treated me better and 1/4 the price.
