Beijing Garden in other cities:
Hubby and I ordered from here just tonight and although we love their food, the ordering on line system has to change. Once placing the order we got a Thank you SMS message... But then NOTHING! No follow up, no * your order will take __time*, no *Your delivery will be at___* ... nothing! We had to actually call them after 45 min or so to ask if they even got our order and was told *They should be there any min.* It just feels cold, not very assuring esp. When your using your C.C. and in personal. At least with other delivery systems you get time of delivery and updates along the way as well as a message that your food etc. Has been delivered/dropped off etc. This has no communication at all... nothing!!
Ive tried Happy Family on S. Main and Ive tried Family Wok on the southside on Cedar St. Tonight is my first night having Beijing Garden and it beats all the other Chinese places in Elmira at least. Youre going to pay a SLIGHT difference but you definitely get what you pay for and their set up is a little different on the menu and when you get the food but not enough to bother you. Very happy with it. And the meat is real the other Chinese places changed their ingredients and its absolutely horrible but this I can do. Awesome food.
Ordered one entree and egg rolls to share with my husband. The app estimated 50 minutes, which was inaccurate, as it was obvious our food had been sitting at the take-out counter for a while. The food was very good, but the restaurant included no paper plates, napkins, or plastic ware. Luckily, our hotel was able to provide those items. Be sure to ask if you need them!
Still one of the best places to get takeout Chinese food in our area. They dont understand the difference between chow mien noodles and low mien as they always send me some deep-fried whatever it is instead, and their drivers take forever then have the hull to ask for a tip and your food is cold and wrong making the company look bad. Which is sad because when they get it right its good food. If they can 3 orders right in a row and make just one of the previous orders right then Ill change my Rating and update my. Review. Lets see what happens,
Last night my 8 year old slipped on a puddle of water next to our table. He fell hard and fast, landing on his back. He cried for about ten minutes. It was obvious to anyone in that small room that this kid was hurt. There was staff all around when it happened. No one came over and asked if he was ok or offered ice for pain. No one offered any kind of recognition that he even fell. About twenty or more minutes later a worker said jokingly that he did a “somersault”. I am disgusted with how a restaurant we have been going to for at least twenty years could treat us this way. What if it had been an adult that had taken this fall? Would they have said anything when the ambulance arrived? Im done with this place.
Best Chinese we have ever had. It starts with a friendly welcome. Tea is offered as well as a drink. Menu is diverse. I got the pepper steak with onion. We had a large party of ten. Our server was attentive and made sure everyone had refills on drinks and rice. Traditional fortune cookie served at the end of the meal. We felt comfortable to relax and socialize. Owner came over to check on us and thank us for coming in. Best experience we had during our vacation.
They are usually pretty good. I would like them to incorporate some other dishes. There is a competitor in Taste of Asia that have many different dishes and seem to more up with the times as they offer variety. It would hurt them to introduce, Thai and Japanese dishes too!
I am a self proclaimed American Chinese food connoisseur having tried Chinese all over the country, so take my thoughts for what they are.My first experience with Chinese in Elmira and my expectations, quite frankly were low due to the diversity in this area. This was nothing to write home about, Im sure Ive had worse but it wasnt good. Chicken was mush, sauce that the chicken was tossed in was bland, portion size was decent. I will say they piled on the rice which made it feel like you are getting a big helping. Granted the rice is of a low grade and a little too dry for my taste but could have been worse. The egg rolls were pretty good and not very greasy, personally I like grease but I can respect their rolls. For a price of about $12 and over $1.50 for additional egg rolls this is expensive for the quality of food.Speaking to an American answering the phone made ordering easy but did not give me the warm and fuzzy that this was going to be good Chinese food.
Just got back to the hotel after eating dinner at Beijing Garden. There was only one other table of diners at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. Where were all the diners that gave this restaurant such high ratings? We ordered beef chow fun, Shanghai Pan Fried Noodle, Sesame Chicken, and Beijing Garden Special Soup. A bowl of fried rice was complimentary. The service was fine. The soup was good, although the wontons in the soup were a little tasteless and were made with thick wonton skins. The Sesame Chicken and Shanghai Pan Fried Noodle dishes was pretty typical of what might be expected of a Chinese restaurant in the middle of Elmira NY, a Caucasian stronghold. However, the Beef Chow Fun was absolutely terrible! I have eaten Beef Chow Fun at dozens of Chinese Restaurants and the Beef Chow Fun at Beijing Garden was the worst I have ever eaten. The beef and noodles in the dish were extremely bland. I couldnt believe that they served this dish the way it tasted. This dining experience was yet another head-scratcher as to how a restaurant could get such high ratings. My reviews are honest - I cant explain many of the other reviews.
Really enjoyed this restaurant for many years when I lived in the area and my not too distant last visit was a refreshing reminder that the culinary quality hasnt wanted. Friendly and attentive service and a varied selection. Certainly the finest Asian restaurant in Elmira.
I was in Elmira NY over Memorial Day Weekend.Passed by this restaurant and said let me chance it... BEST Decision I MADE👍🏻 The Staff was great!!! Most of all the food was soooo Good! I definitely recommend anyone who is in the Elmira area looking for a place to eat “if in the mood” for Chinese to try them out ;)
The worst sesame chicken Ive had anywhere. Its dry and tastes even worse reheated. All the Chinese Ive had stays hot for so long but I drive fifteen mins home and had to reheat. The eggroll dough was not cooked all the way, ruining the taste. And I ordered a large meal but got a small rice. You have to pay more to get a large rice with a large meal??? Cheaping out on such a cheap commodity? Nice restaurant on the inside but I wont be going back there for palatable meals.
This is the right place to go if you want authentic chinese food in the area; their House Special soup is like the traditional one-wonton pp style that in some places is made with whatever is left over from other good dishes; but here its always terrific and consistent, the same recipe with tasty things in every bite.Weve been going repeatedly whenever we want a pleasant, quiet meal in a classy but not stuffy atmosphere. I still want to taste their Peking duck, but thats just poor planning on my part; you only need a few hours notice to order it, not a whole day or two as ive had to deal with in the past in larger cities. We regularly order out or sit in to eat, and have Very rarely had any problems; when we ordered out recently and there was an issue with one dish, i called and the owner quickly suggested he comp us the same dish on our next visit -which will be soon.Sometimes the servers are newer, since this place has been around for a long time, its just the aging out of the staff, but they are Always!! eager to please!Ask for chopsticks and a rice bowl, if you want to eat in a traditional manner; they serve usually with just the western plates and silverware, so if you dont want chopsticks, you wont be embarrassed either!Go here for very traditional fare, or just when you want Chinese food; you will not be disappointed!ps parties can use the more private small room in the rear; we had a really nice dinner there recently with about 20 friends, and the service was excellent! too.
What was once the only game in town is now irrelevant since Taste of Asia and Thai Asian 119 have opened. Beijing Garden was always pretty awful, but they were able to fool people in a town without compitition for many years. Now that we have restaurants that actually serve GOOD Chinese food (along with Thai, Japanese, Korean) there is no longer any reason to go there. Id highly recommend avoiding it.
Pretty Bad. Although they do leave soy sauce at the table for you, and the steamed rice is okay with that so you wont go completely hungry. I ordered the chow mein. It came prepared without noodles. Noodles are a pretty key ingredient in chow mein. Instead I recieved just some chicken, celery and scallions cooked in a watery greasy sauce, with steamed rice, which was again delicious with some free soy sauce. Dont bother.

2021-12-0812/8/2021 | ordered sweet and sour shrimp and it tastes uncooked. called to inform and was argued with on weather it was undercooked. They brought me another batch and this one AS WELL is undercooked and came warm. This place is a hit & miss. Sometimes they’re okay, other times the rice is bad. the chicken is bad. i’ve been ordering here for a year and today is the LAST time. Please be cautious ordering from here

2022-02-16Elmira staple. Great service and usually good food. Disappointed with dinner. Not your typical Szechuan Shrimp --very, very sweet red jelly sauce with ONLY onions; not spicy and no other vegetables. Ive had this dish at many restaurants over the years and have never had it like this.

2022-04-29This place has gone way downhill. It used to be the only place I would order from in Elmira but it has gotten sooo sooo bad. I spent $100 on my last visit to get a little bit of everything and most of the food had noticeably been microwaved. What was worse was that the Sesame chicken and General Tsos chicken was crunchy on the inside and mushy on the outside almost to the point of being inedible(we threw both chicken dishes away). I am so disappointed with everything I tried there that I will never be back. Ive had bad experiences here multiple times and finally learned from this one to stop giving them the chance.

2022-07-07I am impressed! I accidentally clicked pick up instead of delivery when I ordered online. After they couldnt reach me by phone ( my number changed and I forgot to update it) they actually delivered it. Im so glad they went out of their way!

2021-11-15Best Chinese cuisine in the twin tiers. Best shrimp lo mein and pork fried rice I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. The shrimp and scallops in garlic sauce is another fave. Whatever your go-to is you can’t go wrong with this local gem.

2021-06-08Since I moved into the area this is my go to Chinese restaurant. Delivery is quick and the food tastes really fresh. I LOVE their pork lo mein. The pork is so flavorful. I also really like their hot sesame noodles. I eat here for lunch pretty regularly as well. One of the best Chinese restaurants Ive experienced.
