As always the experience here is amazing. The food is simply the best. Run dont walk to eat here.
It was a beautiful, delicious and family dinner moment. The chef came out to greet us and I forgot to tell him how amazing the seafood pasta was and all the dishes were. My family enjoy everything. You need to take family to this place. They were attentive and made sure to take care of us.
A couple friends and I were traveling from out of the area for our sons wrestling tournament, we prefer to find local establishments as opposed to chain restaurants.After asking for a suggestion from the front desk clerk at our hotel we ended up at Bella Michaels.The three of us entered the restaurant in the middle of dinner hours and were greeted by friendly faces. We were asked if we had reservations which we unfortunately did not, luckily the friendly hostess said not a problem and found us a table right away!!!We were greeted almost immediately by our waitress Sherry. She was cordial, very attentive and offered great suggestions for us first timers. Initially, we werent in any rush because we assumed the tournament would go fairly late. Dinner service seemed to be timely spaced out. We ended up needed leave earlier than planned since wrestling ended early. We approached Ryan and asked him to let Sherry know we needed to take off and hopefully they could pack our dinners to go. Ryan and Sherry both went above and beyond to get us packaged up to go pick up the wrestlers and take them to the hotel. Ryan was even sweet enough to get us some plastic silverware and bread to go! We were able to eat our dinners a little later and they were still delicious!!! Also, the bruschetta bread was one of best I have ever had!!!
This restaurant is a gem for sure. It was like walking into an elegant home, so cozy. The menu has so many options to choose from. The Italian food here is seriously delightful. The staff here is kind, caring, and efficient. Ive gone back a few times now, and each time gets better.
Food was great and done to accommodate my preferences. Had a terrific rather private table. Presented a small problem in getting servers attention and was by front door. People would enter, stand with door open and couple times door stuck on mat and I had to get up and close it.
I went for my second time. Food was great both times. Im actually eating my leftovers as i type this. The atmosphere is nice. The service was great. Definitely a must try.
Specifically asked if there were freerefills on soda and I was told yes so I ordered a soda for that reason alone. When I asked for a refill the waitress told me there are no free refills. So I spoke to manager about what happened and she said dont worry we will give you a free refill. They never gave me a refill. Really rubbed me the wrong way.
Always my go to when we want REAL good food ! Staff is always very attentive, accommodating and friendly..so far every time weve been there everything has been top notch and my favorite dish of the Fettuccine carbonara with chicken added is awesome !! Definitely hit them up for dinner when in Oneonta as we always do when visiting or dropping off our kid to college..
Its a little hole in the wall restaurant that has some amazing dishes. I just wished they had more to choose from.
Beautiful place to bring family or close friends, delicious and mouthwatering food, the Bella chicken is so good I could eat it everyday, loving and caring service, Will be repeating my business and excited they do takeout!!
If you have not tried Bella Michaels seafood chowder than you havent had the best soup in Oneonta. Missing here is the little neck clams...ate them already. It is full of vegetables and seafood and just delicious. Their red pasta sauce is good too.

Had a funeral reception here. They closed the location for us for a few hours so we had it to ourselves. The staff was great and the food was excellent.
My husband ordered the scallops,he enjoyed the dinner. We were both irritated by the small salad plates. Hate when you cant even cut your salad up with half of it on the table! Easy fix! Change the plating. Great portions of both meals. Service not so great. Forgetful waitress,but friendly I know she was working hard though. Busy night at the restaurant.
Food was excellent...my husband is Italian and very particular about his Italian food....he enjoyed his dinner and said he would go back again...YAY!!!! Atmosphere was nice and the staff was very friendly and service was great!! The only thing we didnt care for was the music choice...we are both music lovers and in the hour or so we were there, we heard the same song 3 time....Little River Bands Reminiscing and although we do like that music, hearing it 3 times was not a great idea....thesis was the same 6 songs looped...however, the volume was perfect so u can still hear your conversation.Great place and looking forward to going back!
Paid 50$ for 2 plates of fettuccine Alfredo both were the most bland thing I’ve ever had a bite out of .... they didn’t season the chicken either . For nearly 25$ a plate you would think that they would actually season their food ... disrespectful what they did to the Alfredo . Mama Mia !
Good salads and pasta. Pork chop special had delicious pan sauce that complemented the asparagus and spinach. Pork chop had good flavor but more done than I prefer
Food was awesome. Was in town visiting kids. Kids (young adults) lived the crab nachos. Staff friendly and food was pretty quick though we were early dinner hour. Make reservation or you might not get a table. Will definitely be back when I visit again
Staff was nice. Needed reservations. Took an hour and a half to get the main course. Chicken Francaise was not good. Too much lemon was used. Waitress did not charge for that entrée which was appreciated. The seafood marinara was excellent. Will return when back in the area.
Probably the best Manhattan Ive tasted. Veal was very good, service also. Need to come back
I am giving them a 2 star rating for service only..... The food was great!!Had a 530 reservation waited to be sat 20 minutes... Bartender finally asked if we had reservations and found our seats.( She was very good and friendly) finally met out waitress .... Nice but lost in space somewhere..... Placed our food and drink order waited 10 for drinks. Received our app. 10-15 min. after that finished app and went to bar for our own drinks..... 15 min. later got salads for dinners (2) salads!! One of the dinners was a salad!!! Another 20-30 minutes later got dinners ...... In all 2 1/2 hrs for dinner..... The main one was a special!! There was a couple there when we arrived loved the food !! That couple left and another arrived...... Got served quickly drinks apps and dinner before we finished our dinner!!! Not happy .... But food was great !!! Most likely will not return!!! Shame because it is so close to us 10min drive and the food really was great but not almost 3 hrs great.
Great atmosphere, very nice looking bar/restaurant... the employees were very kind, mannerly, & eager to please...MY only gripe about the place is that it was a little pricey for the quality of the food... dont get me wrong, the food was good & I would definitely tell people to go there...I cant speak for all the food: just what I got which was fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp/ scallops... pretty good, but not great... and like I said concerning the quality:::a little pricey,,, but not too bad that I wouldnt return...I did love the atmosphere & WOULD RECOMMEND !!!
Had an excellent meal. The Caesar Salad was great and they even offer Anchovies to garnish it. The Carbonara was filled with mushrooms, bacon, onions and peas in a perfectly flavored cream sauce. Very reasonable pricing as well.

We arrived form out of town last night and did not have reservations, and we were seated within 15 minutes of walking in. Probably the best mushrooms Ive ever had on a pasta. Reasonably priced for the quality of food, it took a little while to make but I understood why when I tasted it.
If you are thinking about stopping here, just DO IT :) EVERYTHING is SO fresh & delicious, drinks are mixed to perfection 👌ask for Gabby, BEST service Ive ever had..ever. Enjoy! 😉
Our server Anthony was good. The food was not (all). One entree was decent at best, and one appetizer was good. The other app was undercooked and the other entree was not nearly what was expected (and overcooked). When we complained about the app/entree, only the app was removed from the bill. The service regarding this issue was not nearly as expected for the price of the food overall. Would probably not return.
Absolutely the best Italian food in the area ,my veal was prepared to perfection.
Poor customer service. I felt like the least important person in the world. Togo orders dont typically generate tips so... I get it, but hire someone to handle the take out business or dont offer take out. I seriously thought I was bothering them. Food was ok. Not great. I still gave 5 stars because I am also in foodservice and right now staff, good or bad, are hard to find. But if I go back, it wont be for take out.
People were rude and nasty. I called for reservation. Only could seat me at bar. Got there. Place not so busy but nothing available for hours! Chubby hostess was the nastiest person ever. Restaurant had a strange odor. Left and noticed a kitchen worker with a dish towel over his shoulder being used to blow his nose. The kitchen was filthy. Looks like I got lucky.
Visiting Oneonta from Massachusetts for the first time and are so glad that we chose Bella Michaels for dinner!! The food was PERFECT and the staff wonderful. I dont normally write reviews but just couldnt pass up the opportunity to praise this restaurant.
Intended to have dinner here on a Monday evening. Wait staff told us it would be almost 90 minutes to be seated. Place looked nice, but not filled - maybe many reservations? We will try again.
An amazing Italian restaurant!!!!! With impeccable service!!! The pear and elderflower martini was to die for as well as the hot fresh bread with the seasoned olive oil dipping sauce to the main meal!!!! Not to mention the lemon cake dessert!!! My only regret is that this place is 3 1/2 hours away from home!!!! Can’t wait to come back. My new and favorite far away from home restaurant.
Absolutely the worst steak Ive ever encountered. One large piece of gristle! No exaggeration. Had it as take out it i would have sent it back immediately. At 7:30pm we waited 1 hour for spaghetti and a steak to be ready. The spaghetti and meatballs were delicious. My steak, inedible!
OMG. I travel a lot and look for great restaurants. This place was the bomb. The food was absolutely amazing. Chicken parm and mussels to die for.Meatballs!!! well if your vegan this will bring you back to eating meat. LolDefinitely go here again. Wish they had a couple of tv monitors to attract business people as well as locals. I would of definitely stayed and drank more.

By far and near this is the best service from any resturant weve been to in a long time. Comfortable , Attentive , kind and knowledgeable. The bruchetta is a must. We are already looking up the menu for next time! Seafood was cooked well and so was the pasta. So good
ALWAYS an excellent meal with great service for a decent price. I really enjoyed the drink special tonight, jalapeno margarita. Who knew? So awesome. I had the seafood risotto, could barely eat half of it. So I have an excellent lunch for tomorrow too!

The food was good. The baked French Onion soup was good but it wasnt in the traditional bowl that the soup normally come in so it wasnt crispy but it was still good. I liked the Prime Ribs and the portions were big. I would go back.
Food is good, restaurant in nice. Food flavor is a little mediocre, needs more seasonings and some of the food feels frozen and quick cooked without the care you would expect when looking at the restaurant.

One of the best meals i have had in a long time. Staff was amazing and very helpful. Ordered the bella michaels shrimp and was extremely happy with the quality of the meal. Wife had chicken marsala and again awesome meal. Spicy clams were also very good. Thanks for a great evening. Wish i lived closer. Vt is a long ways but it might be worth it!
First the crabmeat nachos were fantastic loved it, and the fettuccine Alfredo was amazing just enough sauce, definitely would recommend coming here again.

This has been a favorite for years. Alex, the chef, and his kitchen, put out extraordinary food. The stuffed eggplant with cream tomato sauce is the stuff of dreams. My husband adores the shrimp Bella Michael. Just eat your way through the amazing selections, including daily specials. The warmed bread from a local bakery and fresh butter come right away, but do add a salad, too. The bar has an excellent selection of wines and liquor and they have just added a delightful list of summer cocktails. The staff is impeccable, funny, professional. You will love this wonderful restaurant! Oh, forgot, Alex is the maestro when it comes to scallops and shrimp!!!
I first came here for my birthday. It was absolutely delicious. I got the chicken aka toscana. The portions are HUGE. They use basically an entire box of pasta. We sat in the upper level at a nice two top. The second time I came here I got the carbonara, while it was good it wasn’t carbonara. It was much more like an Alfredo. My friend got the chicken Bella Michael, which she really enjoyed. The service has been extremely slow both times and the atmosphere in the lower level is very outdated and needs to be upgraded. Also, some background music would have been nice to add some intimacy to the atmosphere.
We absolutely adore this restaurant. The food is consistently scrumptious! The owners are amazing and caring. Each bite tastes better than the next. As we start eating we are planning when we come back again! Relaxing, friendly and the best place to eat in Oneonta by far!!!!
If there was a possibility for more then 5 stars i’d definetly give it to them. We called last minute for a reservation and they made it possible. Once we got there Anthony was our waiter & if every waiter was as AMAZING & WONDERFUL as he was this world would be a better place. The food was amazing, I had pasta and my boyfriend had the daily special of lobster which was cooked perfectly!! Seriously though 100000 stars for Anthony I cannot express how amazing he made the expierience for us & I hope that we’re able to come back and visit again one day. The food and drinks are definetly worth the price. 1000 percent recommended.
The food was okay, not the stuff of legend like others have claimed, but the service was absolutely horrendous. There were only 4 tables when we got there. But it took over an hour just to get our appetizer. And another 45 minutes for the food. They never checked on us to refill our drinks, we had to ask everytime. The two waitresses just stood near the bar basically ignoring everyone. Worst service of any restaurant Ive been to. I was hoping the food would make up for it, but liked i said, it was just okay.

Large menu, great food. They get busy at times so be prepared for a long, but relaxing dining experience. Chix Bella Michaels is a fave in our group. Nice drink menu, the Mules are excellent! Dinner specials are usually real good as well. I cant speak about dessert, Im always too full to try it!

Lovely quiet restaurant. Food was excellent. I had Veal Picatta. Husband had seafood scampi. Lobster, scallops, mussels, clams over linguini. Both entrees were perfect. Nice wine list. Leah our server was excellent. At the end of the meal when they found out it was our 49th wedding anniversary they insisted we take home a dessert! Special place. If you are in Oneonta you need to have dinner there.
My husband and I were on vacation in Oneonta/Cooperstown area last week and we visited this restaurant not once, but twice in one day! We ate there for lunch and then we went back for dinner. It is absolutely fabulous! It is a quaint, family owned restaurant and the food and the service were outstanding. My husband loves hot wings and he said the wings were the best he has ever had in his life! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area! Oneonta is a beautiful place to visit as well...very pretty in the Fall for sure!
Thank you Bella Michaels for a wonderful experience for our Class of 63 Christmas luncheon. You could have not been nicer to us, one waitress for 30, but did a wonderful job. EVERYONE RAVED OVER THEIR FOOD, I am sure we will be back. Also it was so festive, and beautiful, thank you for giving us the back room, hope we didnt disturb the others, we sure had a wonderful time. Sorry I cant print pictures of our delicious presentations of our food orders.
We live in the area. My mother-in-law is Italian descent, and she likes it. She also tends to find fault when she goes out to eat. The owner/chef, it seems, is always present. It is in a residential area, very quiet and safe. The lower level is just a big open area. If there are just two of you consider the upper level by the bar.
The Chicken Bella Michael and Chicken parmesan was phenomenal. The Staff are friendly! Highly recommend going. Dont just take my word for it.

Honestly one of the better restaurants in Oneonta, NY. The portions are great, service is always wonderful and even when theyre busy there has never been much of a wait for food. Even the simple spaghetti with meat sauce will knock your socks off.
Extremely yummy!! Had the chicken alfredo, though it needed more cheese, it was more like a cream sauce, but still very good!! And the lemon mascarpone cake was to die for!! 🥰
The food was adequate, but kinda expensive since it wasn’t that great. The people were pretty nice, but the service was incredibly slow. After we ordered, it took 20 minutes to get bread, another 20 to get salad, and we waited another 30 minutes for our meal. Also, they charge for drink refills.

Have eaten here before and the food and service was excellent, approx 2 years ago, my most recent visit was somewhat disappointing as the food lacked the passionate flavor that Bella Michaels is know for, from appetizer to entree, I could not offer a kind word for any of our dinning selections, our service was kind, friendly, and prompt, as well as professional. Note to Male bartender working that evening, when a bar patron has become obnoxious and rude to other restaurant patrons, its time for them to go.On a further note I believe anyone can have an off night and would gladly give Bella Michaels another chance
The rare jewel in the hospitality business is consistency. I own a bed-and-breakfast up the road I never have any concerns about recommending this place for any occasion. This place is an asset to our community.

It is one of the best places in oneonta food is fresh made by their chef their is a bar and you can drink this is my second favorite place in upstate with my fathers place restaurant bar. Dinners are great. Prices are ok. Admosfera friendly.

Place is PACKED. Make a reservation. Definitely plan on spending around 2 hrs minimum if you are looking to eat an app, dinner and dessert. Service was great very accommodating and nice.
Food was very good but the service was lacking. I asked for Italian dressing and received balsamic vinegar. Our waitress disappeared for over 20 minutes before we were offered dessert or the check.

2022-03-13Wow! It’s all I can say. Unbelievable food and service. So refreshing to have had such great waitress service especially during these times. The food was a 20 on a scale of one to 10! We ate here Friday night 3/11/22 about 4pm. We were lucky to get in. After we were seated the restaurant was all full with reserved seating. The entire experience was unparalleled in my mind. The delicious limoncello Cosmo pictured here with the clam appetizer, And the chicken Marsala was the best I have ever had! My husband had the bolognase and my son had the steak with baked potato. Your restaurant was one of the best restaurants I have been to serving Italian food! We were in town for an off season visit to the Baseball Hall of Fame and I have to THANKYOU so much for being part of our wonderful memories! Thanks for everything do. Your amazing!

2021-10-12We were going to find a good local restaurant on our trip through Oneonta, NY, we struck GOLD. If you are ever driving through and are craving some good Italian food this is the place to go. I had the special for the evening, blackened halibut over rice, my wife had a rigatoni Bolognese, both were delicious.They were extremely busy this evening yet they treated us like we were their only customers.

2021-10-13What a great little Italian restaurant! Relaxing atmosphere, great menu and the food was ridiculously fantastic!! Bruschetta, salad, rigatoni bolognese was delish!! Had cheese cake and lemon cake for dessert... oh my goodness! Dont pass up the chance to eat here. The staff was beyond friendly and drink selection was great as well!

2021-11-23Very basic at best .... Extremely low expectations will be rewarded. Bad drinks , taste nothing like described. Calamari. Was more salad then cali.... Poor quality at best.... Bread is rock hard and second basket was cold. Sad how many people think this good food.Do not waste your time,mo ey and taste buds....

2022-01-26While in the area for business, myself along with my business partner decided to dine in at this particular restaurant.I had linguine with alfredo sauce and it was pretty good no complaints about that or the bread.However the service was beyond horrendous!!My partner specifically asked upon entering the establishment if refills were free on the soft drinks.He was told by the bartender who he asked that yes in fact this particular restaurant had free refills for drinks such as Coke and diet coke .However upon sitting down after consuming the first diet Coke I partner was told by the nasty waitress that no- they are not free!! And theres an additional charge for each one ordered.He left a separate review and rightly so because he was extremely angered.I was upset by the fact that the water glass held approximately 5 oz of water!!Why they chose to use such a tiny glass especially for something like water is beyond me because I have a condition in which I have to drink a lot of water while Im eating..So I had to constantly ask the waitress to refill it and she wasnt very attentive which made the meal very uncomfortable!AND TOTALLY UNNECESSARY ON THEIR PART!! THE WAITRESS WAS RUDE AND TERRIBLE AND THE WOMAN I THINK THAT WAS THE MANAGER, MAYBE THE OWNER IM NOT SURE, TRIED TO DEFEND THE WHOLE SITUATION WHICH MADE IT EVEN WORSE RATHER THAN SIMPLY GIVE US FREE REFILLS!!This place needs to understand they are in the restaurant business and the customer is always right!!!

2022-07-06Only thing better than the food is the wait staff. Outdoor seating during the early evening is available and an excellent change from sitting inside. Full Italian menu with outstanding chef specials that can be split to share as an appetizer but save room for the desserts. If they have it available, ask for the carrot cake with a middle cheese cake layer and frosted with cream cheese frosting. Add a cup of expresso to cap off the meal. Rely upon your wait person for suggestions. Wish I lived closer!

2022-05-25Every time we went to Oneonta we would eat at Bella Michaels. The food is fantastic. The portions are huge and you get enough for two meals. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I have never been disappointed. I.highly recommend this restaurant.

2020-02-21Friendly, prompt service. Nice, quiet atmosphere. The food was exceptional, top notch, the best! The salmon with lemon sauce & vegetables was the absolute best that I have ever eaten. I have been on the road for nearly twenty years in sales and eat a lot of salmon. Incredible dish as well as presentation! Very fair prices.
