My son had private lessons with Mr. Tice. Bells auto would call me the day before every lesson and send reminder emails. They were very professional. Mr. Tice was always on time and made my son feel at ease. He taught him the rules of the road and gave him the confidence he needed to pass his road test. The day of his road test my son had one hour practice, then took his test and passed. I think it was well worth the money, and would highly recommend them.
This driving school is the best! They work with you until you are extremely comfortable with maneuvering a car. I failed my road test two times because of bad anxiety, and my hearing loss. I am happy to announce that today I had passed. Special thank yous to Mr. Price (David) for taking his time with me, and for giving me tips on how to pass it the third time. And of course speaking loud enough so I could hear him. Driving instructors will be tough on you (not too tough), but thats because they want you to pass. I highly recommend Bells.
Very happy with Bells Driving School. My son needed lessons and we signed up at Bells. The staff and drivers were all very nice. They did their best to accommodate our schedules. They prepared my son well for his drivers test. He passed his road test and is now a very good driver. I would highly recommend them.
Bells was great!! The office staff very accommodating and helpful when problems arise. Teachers were great. My daughter wasnt interested in learning how to drive but I insisted. She had a great Drivers Ed teacher who had her overcome whatever fears she might have had about driving. Now she laughs when I remind her that she didnt want to learn how to drive. I would highly recommend Bells
I recently moved to the capital region from NYC and never needed my license there. I had my permit but no real need to go ahead and get the license nor the desire. Of course living upstate it became a necessity! used Bell’s for a couple of lessons and the five hour pre licensing course. Jaimz was my instructor and I definitely lucked out by getting him! He was super knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable immediately. He explained things in a way that just made sense and showed where old instructors came short. I can now comfortably park and even drive on the highway! I passed my road test with flying colors and it’s all thanks to Jaimz! I can’t speak for other instructors but if you go with bells, ask for Jaimz!!
So far, two of my children have learned to drive through Bells . One teen opted for just the 5 hours mandatory course, while the other wanted the lessons which met every day in the summer. While they are both successful drivers , the one who opted for the full lessons , benefited greatly from the lessons she learned on the road and in the classroom. The office staff was always polite as, we were to them and I feel the money was well spent.Thank you , Bells well be seeing you again for the next two.
I just called them for three lessons after i tell them my schedule. And they email me a confirmation. Okay. And now i thought i have a lesson tomorrow, said an email saying that schedule revised. Not only conflicting with my schedule, but also get three different instructors for three lessons. I have no idea why would i get contacted only via email. Confusingly high price. Caution if choose this driving school.Okay, at least they fix it.
Great experience. Mr. Larsen was wonderful. They helped my sdad n learn to drive safely and to be a responsible driver. They also helped him pass his road test the first time. For the time and training you get, the money is well worth it. Very cal able experience. Thank you!
NEGATIVE 125 STARS But Id rather get my $125 back!!! The instructors themselves are ok, but its the overall company ethic or lack of ethics period thats SERIOUSLY LACKING!!!! Im not a prima donna, but if I spend $400 dollars on lessons then I expect a certain level of customer appreciation and to be made a satisfied customer. After having one appointment go wrong, because I knew Id be running late and wanted to request that the instructor come 15 minutes later than the original agreed upon time, and in order to keep the apt within the same 45 minute window Id rather do a 30 minute lesson rather than a 45 minute one - to make up for the additional time. Seems simple right? After all its my money and my lesson, so if I want to short-change myself and cut my lesson down by 15 minutes, then whats the problem?! So I called the office, and as I tried to explain this very uncomplicated situation I got into an argument with one of the schedulers named Cindy. As I tried to explain to her that I WASNT requesting an additional 15 minutes she became incredibly rude and insisted that she could not give me an additional 15 minutes. WTF, okay...I dont need an extra 15, but what Id like to do is a 30 minute lesson instead of the 45 minute lesson that I already paid for and yall can keep the money! But this ol old nasty raggedy stank customer service person, refused to hear or understand a word of what I was actually saying. She argued me down and then told me that days lesson will be cancelled! The next run in with the woman scheduling the appts named Cindy, came only a few days later. My road test was scheduled for 2/9/2015; I made that apt on 1/7/2015. On 2/9 there was another snow storm and I called Bells to see what was going on. Cindy proceeds to tell me that although the DMV isnt cancelling road tests, Bells isnt taking anyone out for their tests today. So I said WTH...then what do you expect me to do... I made my apt a month ago?! Cindy said, well, you can still go if you want to, but none of our drivers are doing tests today, because of the weather...so if I want to go find someone else! Someone else,__itch are you crazy!!! I then proceeded to curse her out and demanded a refund; 6 hours later I get an email stating that the refund has been processed. I then reply to that email by letting them know that they are a disgusting business and Cindy is a POS!!! A day later and I still do not have my $125. I called my credit card company and according to them they do not see that a refund was initiated. So Cindy or someone was lying about that!!! I then get a ph call from a State Trooper Named Burgos, who leaves me a vm informing me that Bells have charged me with aggravated harassment and Im to have no further contact with them; that all future contact will have to be via lawyers. Burgos who doesnt know _hit is under the impression (because Cindy Lied) that my money has been refunded - but it hasnt! I rarely bother to give negative reviews because meh, if you dont like what youve eaten or how someone did your hair, or something like that then eff-it, just dont go there any more and tell your friends dont bother either! But when or if you encounter dirt-bag thieves who run a crappy business, dont deliver on services and refuse to refund your money, I think as a society there is a requirement to let it be known!!!!!!! Dont spend you money here!!! Youve been warned!!!!!!********UPDATE*********** (2/11/2015)I got my refund - although it took a day longer then it should have to get my money back!!!
One of the worst experiences Ive ever had with an individual. The Instructor was real handsy in his teaching and if i wanted to i could sue this guy for sexual harassment. In this day and age you dont put your hands on anyone, especially if youre a forty year old man teaching a kid how to drive (Not to say everyone there is like this, just one individual in particular). Take your five hour with these people but never take a driving lesson because its just not something you want to go through. Just drive and get practice, Hope this helps someone
I took the driving lessons and classroom instruction through Bells driving school back in 1996-1997. I had fond memories of that, Mr. Bell was an awesome teacher, Im glad to see hes still teaching :)Every time I parallel park, I always think of Mr. Bell. Because of him, I can parallel park like a champ!
Very disappointed with our experience. The appointment was on Tuesday. The school call on Monday to confirm, then cancelled it on Tuesday morning. I wasnt given a specific reason for cancelling our appointment either at the last minute. We requested for a refund which did not get process for 3 weeks. My opinion is that Company should respect others time as well.
Very rude... Schedule lessons and driving test months from when you like to. Staff will give you attitude and when you have prove that they were wrong they will still say they are correct. Horrible communication with the staff that works there and they are not helpful and they had my information wrong in the computer and they continue to say it was my fault. I wouldn’t even give them one star but you have to rate them with a star. I wouldn’t go here if you don’t have.

2022-04-22This place is okay, the instructor was impatient with me and didn’t seem to even want to teach me how to drive. He said I wasn’t listening to him, but really I was just acting like a beginner and still unsure of how to drive. I learned how to parallel park pretty good so that’s why there’s a extra star. I’ll go somewhere else to continue my driving lessons.

2021-08-24First of all, it was our fault to NOT trust the many esteemed “1 star” reviews that this prestigious driving school has accumulated over the years. Trust me now, all these people who took time to provide their reviews are 100% RIGHT. My wife had the worst nightmare taking her first lesson with them. The instructor even discouraged her from driving and mentioned that she should NEVER be behind the wheels and this was within the first few minutes of her first driving lesson. She specifically wanted a female instructor when signing up but they sent her a gentlemen who was at his best manners. Upon checking now, the customer service lady said they never promised her a female instructor. Glad we at least got the refund for the rest of the lessons. I would NEVER recommend this place.

2020-08-14We just had our second child go through driving lessons with Bells Auto. I would recommend their services to everyone! Your child gets one-on-one attention during their lessons, they will focus on specific areas if you want (highway, city, etc.) and they are so helpful. Instructors even give pointers for their driving test. They make parallel parking a breeze for kids! Office staff and instructors are professional, friendly, and super helpful. Well worth every penny!

2021-10-05Bought $1000 worth of lessons from them over the course of a year with multiple packages. With that type of consumer confidence, I ended up completely underwhelmed. When you purchase package online, you are given promise that someone will call you to schedule lessons within 24-48 hours. I had to call them more often than not days later, with excuse that they coordinate so many high school group lessons. My driving instructor was competent, but I noticed we didnt always go the full 45min or 60min timeframe. Also didnt help that 3 separate times we stopped for him to take bathroom/coffee breaks during my slotted time. I did not get those minutes added back into my driving time on the road. cumulatively, I counted 25min of lost time that would have meant a lot as I trusted Bells as one of the largest and oldest schools here. Bells rests on their legacy and its popularity, and its students progress means nothing. Besides they have contracts with so many high schools, they really dont take adult customers as priority too. After this, an empty apology and useless offer was made to call them to hear excuses and lies of regret, no doubt! For what? If some of the hard-earned cash paid is not being reimbursed, no go! Forget about it!

2020-02-15My daughter had the best experience from Bells 2 years ago, through the Drivers Education Class at her high school. We were very pleased. Also used their Road Test Service--which is a bargain as far as I am concerned! Well worth the money. Last summer, our car was rear ended on the Northway, with my daughter driving. (Police said she was not at fault. ) During the accident, she remained calm, and was able to safely pull the vehicle over to the side of the road. She said she kept remembering the things she was taught during driver education and this helped her handle the situation safely. Would HIGHLY recommend.

2021-12-11I took the 5 hour online pre-licensing course, and o learned nothing. It was basically just one guy talking with no visuals, super slow, and only told stories about how his past students had weird experiences. He just sat and talked for 5 hours straight, in a more rant-like manner, not to A couple of quotes from him:“Just put your phone in the trunk and lock it”“Take your phone batteries out and put them in the other room”“Do you teens even know what a map is”“I bet no one here knows what a pay phone is”“How many times should you check your mirrors? *spends 10 minutes asking random people* well it’s 5 seconds. Anyways…”Just boring, slow, and confusing. Not to mention the solid hour he spend advertising Bells auto.

2021-08-26I took ten 45 minutes lessons, which cost me over $500 from Bells driving school and still failed my road test.I trusted the reviews and went ahead and book with this school.I am so disappointed and hopeless.I wish I wasn’t in this situation right now, lost my money and failed my road test.
