I stumbled on Beloved on my last day visiting the city! I was feeling low, not ready to leave and needed a bite before leaving town. My breakfast here was so tasty it totally turned my day around! I had the scramble with mushrooms & cheddar and a matcha. It was so flavorful and delicious that I couldn’t be in a bad mood anymore. Thanks beloved! I’ll see you on my next trip! (Oh also, their hot sauce is bomb)
Fantastic vegetarian friendly brunch and tea options in a gorgeous venue with big open windows and vintage furniture. I love the option to sit at the bar which is very welcoming for those grabbing coffee by themselves. The food was really tasty, and I loved the diverse range of options, but my only complaint was the staff didn’t seem very friendly? Maybe it was just me, I’m not sure, but I came to finish reading my book and while I kept ordering more items off of the menu I felt I was being rushed out when repeatedly asked if I wanted things to go and wanted the bill. Neither of the staff members smiled even once, they felt unapproachable and when I wished them a good day at the end they didn’t say anything. I feel bad writing this because overall I really do recommend this place as a nice place to spend the afternoon, I personally know how COVID has burnt out a lot of restaurant servers and customer service people but these things add up and definitely do make a difference in the customer’s experience. That said, I do plan to go back as the food and general vibes were totally worth it.
The food was okay. However we waited over 45 minutes for our meal with no apology for the delay. The restaurant was not busy. There were only 2 other tables. They collected a more than reasonable tip at the time we placed our order. If there had been some way to express our dissatisfaction other than through this review, we certainly would have.
Not a fan. Place was empty, but somehow the server did not “see” us sitting at the table AFTER serving us coffee and handing us menus. I ordered “Persian Shakshuka” for $17 - it was NOT Shakshuka from any nationality (I learned to make Shakshuka from a Persian woman I dated, btw.) No peppers, no tomatoes, no poached eggs - was more like a slap-dash scrambled egg dish with some unappealing feta cubes tossed on top with fresh dill & parsley (the only “nice” touch for a dish that was minuscule and essentially tasteless.) They did load me up on toast, though. I’ll continue making my Shakshuka at home. This place was a disappointment.
The Beloved Cafe & Restaurant located at 198 Allen Street in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, nyc is a nice little joint. Fashioned after a Paris Cafe of sorts, it has an European flare. The seating are quite unique and spacious. Came for breakfast after a night of painting and whatnot, pleasant staff at the breakfast hour. My friend and I was the first patrons of the day, and they were all very friendly and attentive.Prices are a little high, but then so are many other eateries.
Amazing spot with all of the Sunday morning coffee-shop vibes you could want. I had the vegan scramble and it was delightful. The sour dough bread was perfection and I might have had the best latte of my life. Staff was so lovely and took such pride in their place of business. To top it off, there was soft, live jazz being played in the corner. I could have sat there all day, blissed out.
Open-hearted eating. Great place to spend time with friends and meet new community. I love Beloved Cafe & Restaurant. Highly recommended!I am a personal friend with the owners of Beloved NYC and I’m so happy to write the first 5-star review! The owners run two successful restaurants in Vancouver & San Francisco. The vibe is healthy. The food is nutritious and eclectic. Come check it out!
Gave 3 stars because there’s room for improvement. Not the best place to walk in on a Sunday at 11:35 & order take-out (a warm farro bowl) & expect to get out of there quick. It’s a busy, Jazz brunch w/ a 3 piece band (the reason I stopped in) — cozy & comfortable. The staff is very busy & doesn’t focus quickly on those walking through the door. Might need someone as a “host” to check in periodically. Not sure if this is a “hey come in & grab a seat” type place or if you have to wait to be seated. I didn’t notice anyone checking vaccination cards — most of the staff wasn’t wearing their mask (which, ok, I understand but at least wear a mask if you’re handling food). Eventually got my food around 12:15 — not the longest wait but definitely needed to ask for an update. They offered a doughnut for the wait — I declined. But they’re making their money & it’s a cute place so… I would come back for the Jazz brunch & dine in just to see if this review has been read & hopefully there may be some improvements.Haven’t eaten the bowl yet. Writing this on the train. I’m sure the food will be great — I just hope the restaurant becomes a bit more attentive to those coming through the door — and also respect that we’re still in a time where masks should be worn by staff.
Beautiful space, delicious food, but the service needs great improvement. We were there twice; first time, they forgot one of our food orders, second time, they told us one of orders was not available when they brought out the food. Hope they recognize the service issue and fix it.
Nice vibes, great looking place and everything is amazing by the glance. Giving it 4 because there a room for improvement in customer service. I walked in to grab a coffee to go and girl being rly rude probably because they being busy idk but it really spoiled my mood.

2022-02-26This place exceeded my expectations! The lunch/dinner menu had a great range of yummy options. We had the bowl of health soup, vegetable cassoulet, lions mane mushroom taco, fresh hot sourdough donut (with maple sugar which is unrefined!), Cold brew coffee with honey basil syrup. The food options were all amazing, full of flavor, cooked at perfect texture. I was particularly impressed with the bowl of health soup that was packed with fresh vegetables and the broth was nettle! The lions mane mushroom taco was also super delicious (had a good kick). The sourdough donut was not too sweet, tasted fresh and without refined sugar! Definitely coming back to try more things!

2022-05-27As vegetarians we loved this place. We tried the ‘Best Breakfast Sandwich in Lower East Side’, Wholesome Bowl and Paleo Banana Waffle with blueberry compote. Everything was flavourful and delicious and we would like to come back and have it again. The place has a nice chilled out vibe. What made the experience even lovelier was the service. Shout-out to Darius. Made us feel extremely comfortable.

2021-11-08Ive been in search of a cafe where I can bring my laptop and Beloved Cafe has the perfect light and airy atmosphere to hang out in. I am also vegetarian so for a cafe to have so many vegetarian and even vegan options, I feel like I found the perfect little spot. Also highly recommend going on Sunday for all day brunch and great jazz!(Must Haves: Homemade Donuts & their Sourdough Bread!)*

2022-02-14I never rate restaurants, but this place is a gem. I recommend the “best breakfast sandwich.” It literally is, the eggs are sooo fluffy. Also, try the vanilla bean lattes!! U won’t regret.

2021-12-21What a cute and vibrant cafe!I stopped by on my way to work and picked up up a breakfast sandwich, a honey basil latte and a vegan coconut lemon sour dough donut. Id never had these before and none of them disappointed!Clearly Ive had breakfast sandwiches, but theirs had a unique garlic herb mayo that perfectly complimented the tomatoes, eggs, bread and cheddar. And Id never had a sourdough donut but thought Id try something new and was happily surprised 😄.Ill have to return and try the other flavors and the other coffees. I love getting flavored lattes and the basil was a tasty twist on a typical latte. They also had decaf espresso, which I needed!

2021-10-09Beautiful space. Amazing coffee and delicious food. I had one the best lattes I have ever had here. The owners are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Very high standards and quality in everything they do here. This cafe is obviously run with a lot of love and you feel the amazing vibes all around. I think this just became my favorite cafe in NYC.

2022-05-24Nice staff, chill spot, good vibes. Was happy about the juice offerings. I got the tofu scramble which was just ok (needed more flavor) but the potatoes, salad, and mushrooms were better. Was quite pricy for the amount.

2022-08-18Wonderfully flavorful food, great ambiance, kind service. We came to try their fresh sourdough bread in particular, since Beloved sources locally grown and milled grains from a local farm program I work with. Fantastic, real hearty bread. Even the sourdough donuts you really taste the grains - not just sugar. Our favorite were the raspberry glaze. Plenty of cute cafes in the city charge for the ambience and serve ho-hum food, but Beloved seems to really stand behind their food and supports local growers to boot.Bonus, for the nicest smelling bathroom.

2022-03-25Incredibly good breakfast without a wait on the Lower East Side. It’s vegetarian but there are plenty of options. The breads they use for sandwiches and French toast are amazing. Everything is so flavorful! The eggs were done just right.
