Very friendly staff. The food is amazing. They are very accommodating. We got there early and the staff was able to make an early accommodating for us while we were waiting for the rest of the party to arrive. Definitely he order their pancakes. Its very decadent. There omelette was very good and came with wheat toast and you can add a side order of the marinated salmon. Overall, this is a very comfortable place for a family gathering
Came for a friends 60th birthday overall the service was good and the food was good. Steak was nice and juicy and wasnt super expensive. The biggest disappointment was the cookie dough egg roll. The shell was def too hot for the cookie dough to be piped in and made it melt. The cookie dough wasnt very good either.
During Restaurant Week (7/22/2019) I came to enjoy a 3 course dinner at Benchmark and it was DEEELLLLIIICCCCIIIIOOOOUUUUSSSSS!!!!From my appetizer (steak and tomato salad), my entree (Mahi mahi), and cookie dough egg roll, I enjoyed every bite.An added bonus, I went on a Monday and it was half price on bottled wine!Enjoyed a bottle of Petite Sirah.Definitely recommend this restaurant to friends, family, or a solo outing like I had.
First want to say the food was pretty delicious but the drinks were sub par snd the customer service was awful! We called to say we were a few minutes late for our reservation but were right around the corner and they said it was no issue. When we arrived we were asked to wait for a minute so we waited by the door which was right next to an open table. After about 5 minutes a waitress came up and said oh, you can just sit at that table (the same one that had been open since we walked in) The waitress ended up being helpful with wine choices but was very passive aggressive at every interaction. Do not recommend wasting your time or money here when there are so many other houses that have the same or better quality food along with acceptable service.
Took my mother here for her birthday and both of us were bowled over by the food, the service, the ambience, all of it. Thanks to our waitress spot-on recommendations, we started with the Diver Scallops and the Mushroom Fricasse, both of which were lick-the-plate-clean good. My Seared Duck Breast entree was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. The only weak spot was dessert, which seemed like an afterthought. Our choices were molten chocolate cake with gelato.... or just the gelato. But since the cake was rather good, Ill still give it 5 stars.
Went here on a Saturday night. The hostess had a problem seating us inside although I specifically reserved for indoor dining. The we had to share a menu because they were very busy right now. I was upset but kept my cool thinking she would love to throw us out. Other than that the food was great.
Words cannot describe how amazing this meal was. Went here for restaurant week and I have 0 complaints. Nice, quiet place, with a small garden to take photos in. Our server was so happy and attentive. He recommended a wonderful sparkling red for dinner and then we enjoyed drink at the bar that was as interesting as it was tasty.
This restaurant was a very nice little place in Brooklyn. It was a cold night in November, but cozy in the outdoor seating area.My waiter couldn’t have been any better. He was put in a very awkward position and I am sad to say the manager/owner? Didn’t come to his rescue.I visited the restaurant for my first time, anxious to try their salmon and brussel sprouts (they were both pretty good)My complaint is with the “half price bottle of wine” deal on Monday evenings. I selected (from their menu), the Sinister Hand Yakima Valley Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault blend. The menu stated 2016 vintage at $63.00 and market price (according to Vivino app - ~ $46.00 avg price)I received a 2018 bottle of the same blend which was listed on Vivino app at ~ $27.00 avg priceIt was very good - I enjoyed the wine. I totally understand that a restaurant needs to up the price to stay afloat, especially in today’s tough times, but I did not think this was cool. They should have taken $20.00 off my tab - or even $10.00 - just to acknowledge the fact that they gave me a 2018 bottle of wine and not a 2016.I repeat, the waiter was great (unless he really didn’t report this issue back to the manager/owner; I have to trust he did)You have a nice little restaurant - you blew it this time.
We had brunch there. I had the chicken sandwich, others had biscuits and gravy, pancakes, etc. All of us thoroughly enjoyed whatever we had. Nice selection of drinks. Attractive outdoor area for dining. Excellent service. I rarely give 5’s but honestly no negatives that I can think of. Highly recommend.
Third time to Benchmark and each time the food and experience gets better. Had the swordfish special that came with an unexpectedly perfect pesto and vegetable medley. Also, our waitress recommended a seriously bold Syrah that went perfect with my meal and my friends rib eye (which I have also eaten. Its a sizable cut thats cooked and seasoned like a big named steakhouse). Highly recommended!
If you dont know about Benchmark Restaurant, you might miss it walking by it. A beautifully, tucked away old carriage house with amazing food and drinks. My wife and I dropped by for NYC restaurant week options and were very happy with the options they offered. We sat outside because it was an exceptional night. The hostess immediately sat us and we were greeted by Jason who made our first visit to Benchmark extraordinary. Menu is superb, food delicious and drinks worth coming back for. A+ restaurant.
My friend and I were initially looking for a low key place to get a couple of drinks and food off of 5th Avenue as they close the street off on Saturday. Found Benchmark Restaurant and checked to see if we could be seated. No wait time and the service was impeccable. Our server, Jason, was very cordial and friendly and allowed us to have a relaxing and enjoyable experience. He always checked in on us to make sure we had enough to drink and eat. Highly recommend the Alpine KALE Salad and the scallops. We will define back again.
It was hard to find a place to eat that offered outdoor dining tonight. My friends and I came into Benchmark for a quick eat and some wine. We got to sit on their outdoor patio area which was away from the tent they had but was still safe and adherent to covid protocols. We had appetizers and drinks and our server Jason was very courteous and friendly. Nice atmosphere and the food was delicious! Thank you Benchmark for the excellent experience! We will be back!
After ordering five different items including dinners and openings from the menu, each item was prepared perfectly deliciously and then artistically plated. Special shout-out to the duck salad and stuffed squash items. Make sure to check your receipt as the bill presented was off by $900.00 lol. A $9 beverage was overcharged but when pointed out, the drink was given free and the bill was changed to reflect the correct amount. All in all we were very happy with the service we received and all our food choices.
Went there around 12.30 for brunch. It was easy to find meter parking around. Was a bit nervous about how outdoor seating would be, to our surprise it was relatively cozy while it was 30F. We ordered chicken wings for apps and it was delicious! The benchmark burger was decent, I think the blue cheese was a bit over powering, however, the fries were amazing. The staff was extremely attentive and super friendly, I will definitely be coming back!
Dont blink or youll miss this gem! Benchmark is a treasure! My friends and I walked by and noticed the tucked away patio and the glamorous setup of their patio. Such a great setup for outdoor dining. Thank you Jason for the great service and conversation! The scallops are absolutely amazing, the boneless ribeye, potato puree and brussel sprouts are the best! Wine and cocktails are top notch! Check them out! :)
Weve eaten here many times and had good meals but tonight i ordered the duck breast and was shocked to get two slices of duck. What! When I spoke to the waitress about it she said thats how they serve it. For $30? I dont what to think. But Im angry and disappointed. Wont be coming back anytime soon.
A bit disappointed because there isnt a lot to chose from, food wise. The beer was good and had a lot of alcohol to chose from. Also kind of pricey. Definitely dont eat outside during the summer, or at least dont sit near the garden area because there are mosquitoes. Would recommend using bug spray if you are going to sit under the tent.
Got 2 drinks with bugs in them, no one came to check on us throughout the entire meal. We flagged down a different waiter because ours never came to check on us, showed him one of the bugs, he went behind the bar and brought us a new drink in under 30s, which was clearly the same drink poured over fresh ice.My main course was supposed to come with fries, but instead came with nothing. Horrible experience, when I tried to talk to the manager I was told hes to busy.
Worst dinner experience in a long time. Worse than eating at Fast food joint. Lobster and dumplings were horrible and stuffed Sole was disgusting. Waiter hated working there and when we returned our dish , if didn’t even bother the waiter. Almost like this probably happens regularly. We ate here a few years ago and loved it. I don’t know what happened but every dish was one disappointment after another. Stay away. Don’t waste your time and money!
Horrable service, owner didnt want to comout and appologize or even talk to us. Instead sent his girl who gave a hole speech of how he is busy at the kitchen, they have sprcific alcohol rules, if your bottle is 10 times more expensive then whst they have on shelve they will give you a while speech about licensing and etc (which doesnt exist). But loom at the picture, since they are so much into law, they have no problem underage kid sitting at the bar table. Highly do not recomend
Fantastic ambiance sitting outside under the tent, friendly and timely service, and delicious food and drinks. I recommend the filet minion and the brussel sprouts. Also, the cookie dough egg roll was sinfully good. Gabriel was very welcoming and attentive - I never had an empty glass of water. We will be back!
My bestie and I came for dinner on Friday. Restaurant was busy and lively with a wedding party. We were sat promptly and we were served immediately. Food is AMAZING! Cocktails were boozy and our waiter Jason was exceptional. We never had to wait for drinks, appetizers and finally our dinner. Their outdoor dining setup is cozy and inviting. We will definitely be back. Thank you Jason for the great experience!:)
Id eaten at Benchmark before the shutdown and always enjoyed the food, drink and atmosphere. When we walked by and saw it was open, we stopped in for a drink (always delicious) and picked out a couple of appetizers...pretty. much as a second thought. We had nachos and fries with no expectations. What a surprise. The nachos were unusually prepared and very tasty and satisfying (not the gooey mess I had anticipated). The fries were as they should be, hand cut, crispy outside with a tender center. Yum. Plan to go back for a real dinner soon. The other attraction is that they have outdoor seating, with distance spacing, in their front courtyard. The feeling is more like being in a restaurant than eating on the street. Enjoy!
Steak tartar. Burger. Souffle. Listen to me, or read here. According to Google Map I ranked in top 10% of french restaurant reviewer and oh yeah I am the french restaurants person. But their steak tartar and the burger are simply the best that earth can have. Maybe theres better in heaven but not down here on this planet. Which is blowing my own mind because I always believed that Balthazar had the best tartar. The atmosphere is cozy and couldnt be more New York. I have no clue how Mcnally did this but he rules the french connection in all of his places
I dined at Benchmark last night with a friend. When we walked in, we were seated right away. We asked for a bigger table but unfortunately they were unable to accommodate us. A couple of moments after we sat down, a family with young kids were seated next to us. We really wanted a quiet dinner, so we politely asked the manager to seat us an empty table across the room. They were able to do it and menus were brought. The waiter was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was very well versed in the menu and was able to suggest the perfect dishes that would make our night. We ordered the Trio of Short Ribs, Assorted Cheese Plate, Burger and Tuna.We also brought our own wine -- They charge a $30 corking fee.The food was absolutely phenomenal and well priced. They cooked the burger at a perfect medium rare and the tuna at a perfect rare. (Makes me happy because some places just really screw up the temperature).Overall it was a lovely night, great company and great food.
Always excellent food, atmosphere, and service. Just came here during the pandemic and the spacing between tables and safety precautions are amazing and you will feel very safe. Have always loved their brunch food and the steaks are always amazing. Would recommend to anyone.
Best steaks in The Slope! My bestie and I came in for a quick bite to get out of the wind & cold. Benchmark has a nice semi-covered patio with heat! Hard to find off 5th Ave! Their Hottie cocktails are SUPERB! Our server was terrific and the steaks and fries were delicious! The cookie dough egg roll dessert is so tasty. We will be back! :)
Great dinner experience! Excellent food & cocktails. Couldnt get seating at a table inside so we rocked it at the bar. Jason always made sure that we had what we needed and was very attentive. Had some George Harrison playing on the speakers! Nice environment and their wine list is exceptional.
5 star experience. Had Thanksgiving dinner with my parents. Food and menu was delicious. The service is first rate. Our waitress was bubbly. Chef is top tier. Drinks very satisfying. My father had the Up n Smoke and passed it around. Was taken back by the array of flavors and taste. Mezcal was very tasty. Jason, very friendly, walked us through the process of the ingredients and how the drink is made. Great experience and recommend to all passing through Park Slope. Thank you Sofie.
We had a fantastic steak dinner with our daughter while celebrating three days of being 100% NYC tourists for a few days. We are from the Midwest and are accustomed to high-quality beef. We were totally awed by the perfect flavor, preparation, and presentation. Our server was so personable and fun! We hope to visit again. Thanks for a great wrap up for our amazing trip!
Ive been for dinner and loved the steak, but not the sides. Went again for brunch, and had a terrific burger and very good fries. I tasted my friends pancakes which were also tasty. The only miss was the sausage. The decor is peaceful and brunch wasnt overly busy or noisy on a holiday Monday. Service was attentive but not over the top. Will be back.
We went for our dinner and had our 7 year old son with us. We were seated right away and the service was excellent. our waiter Nick was outstanding. He immediately catered to our son. Without asking he told us they have chicken fingers and fries or pasta with butter and cheese for him because its not on the menu. Our steak and chicken was delicious and was the perfect portion. My husband ordered the bread pudding. Nick brought the bread pudding and a birthday cookie dough spring roll for our son. The cookie dough spring roll was to die for!! Thanks Nick for making our dinner the best dining experience weve had this weekend
Came in for a steak after visiting my son before he had to return to West Point. Benchmark Restaurant is Park Slope’s hidden gem. Sat at the bar as to not take up a perfectly good table just for myself. Jason was exceptional in his service, conversation and tending to whatever I needed. Cocktails and wines are outstanding. Will definitely be back when I come for another visit. A+ experience.
I had a great time going to benchmark for brunch. We sat at the bar, and were attended by a wonderful bartender. The food was southern style and delicious, I particularly recommend the strawberry shortcake donut holes. Ive never had anything like them, and they were quite tasty.
Had a delicious soup that I wanted to mop up with some of their soft bread but a server cleared my plate before I had a chance. I wouldnt recommend sitting in the heated tent outside. Not sure if one of the heaters shut off during my meal but I was freezing before the end of the main course. The temperature also turned my fries ice cold in an instant. Altogether, didnt expect much and didnt get much
Went for my birthday on a cold night in February and had to keep my jacket on the entire time. It was as if there was no heating. The food went cold kind of quickly because of temperature of the room. That considered, the food was really tasty. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the cocktails were delicious! Is love to see what its like in the summer, Im sure the whole experience would be amazing.
This is my absolute favorite restaurant in the neighborhood! The food is always delicious, the cocktails and the wine selection superb and the service excellent. Whether you are a vegetarian or a meat lover there is plenty of yumminess on the menu. My favorite vegetarian dish is the acorn squash and the side of Brussels sprouts. The steak selection is amazing and the mashed potatoes or the French fries are hard to resist. And the deserts! Crazy good!
A perfect spot for brunch in Brooklyn. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Good service and tasty food. For three people we paid just over $60 (two omelettes, one lobster roll, one side pancake, and coffee). We got there at 11 on Sunday and there were plenty of tables available, but around noon, it got more crowded. BTW, on-street parking only.
This place is a solid brunch spot (probably 3-4 stars for brunch), but severely disappointing for dinner. Especially for a special dinner. Their Valentine’s Day prefixed menu was over priced and severely underwhelming. My partner and I came in with high hopes after positive brunch experiences here, but the food was bland at best and over-cooked at worst. Dry fish, overcooked pork, over frozen ice cream...just to name a few. What a terrible disappointment for $95/person. Don’t waste your money, come here for brunch only.
Went for restaurant week so it was a bit busy and the wait was long but its restaurant week. Thats to be expected. The waiter was courteous and knowledgeable about wine selection and pairing compared to a novice like me. They have a nice selection of scotch, I had the highland park. I had the ribeye which was fantastic. It comes with a selection of sauces but it doesnt even need it. Superb on its own. The foie gras melted in your mouth and dessert was exceptional. Definitely a date night kind of place.
Ive had fairly mixed experiences here. Been here at least 8-10 times, and I wouldnt keep coming back if it werent pretty solid. Its definitely got good steak, good brunch, good brews at the bar and some other things on the menu have been great too. I also really like the location - nice decor and a good sized outdoor space. But there are parts that seem pretty unreliable - e.g. deserts are hit or miss, appetizers are hit or miss, service is hit or miss, wait times are unpredictable, etc. I wouldnt come here for a special occasion where the expectations are high, but if you come for steak or brunch its pretty reliable, and if you dont mind taking a gamble itll surprise you sometimes.
We love Benchmark! Been twice, including once for the Thanksgiving prix fixe, which was amazing. Phenomenal steaks, and the prime rib was like nothing Ive had before! Great wine too, and lovely atmosphere (love the antique building). A gem that deserves to be better-known!
Came here for NYC Restaurant Week. The food was incredible, best steak Ive had in a long while, cooked to perfection. The cookie dough eggrolls were amazing! Extensive wine list... we ended up with a nice Sancerre. Service was great... Very friendly and happy to offer suggestions. Definitely coming back again!
I visited Benchmark with my husband on a random Monday afternoon. Our server was amazing from the start. He was very attentive to our needs and didnt wait to be asked for anything. We started with the cobb salad and lobster bisque which were both delicious. I dont know where they got that bacon but YUM. We also ordered the Sweet Tea with St.Germaine. It was refreshing and strong! Our main courses were the meatloaf and the pressed chicken sandwich which were also delicious. Loved the cozy outdoor atmosphere. Will definitely be back!!
Ive had brunch and dinner here and both were fabulous. Most of the seating is outside, but they have a tarp to give shade in the summer and heaters in the winter. Not only is the food great, but they give you enough for leftovers. The staff is courteous and the last time I was there we got a free glass of champagne.
After spending almost a week in Brooklyn for our daughters wedding, my wife and I came across Benchmark while we were out trying to unwind and just take a break from the hustle of the weeks activities. If you ever come to Park Slope, dont blink, you might miss where it is tucked away! The location is great. The outdoor dining area feels so relaxing. There is no music just the sounds of the day. Whether that is by choice or because of the close proximity of houses nearby, it was a nice atmosphere to start. The weather was just a bit to hot for us so we asked if we could move inside which our server was more than happy to do. Once inside the restaurant you automatically feel relaxed. The lighting levels were perfect and they had music playing from my generation so I felt at ease! We did not know that it was restaurant week when we arrived so we had to wait at the bar for a table to clear. My wife and I did not have to wait to be greeted by the bartender who, without asking, brought us chilled glasses of water. The service here is exceptional. Jason (the bartender) was very professional and kind in allowing us the time to preview over their drink menu. I am a Gin aficionado...long story short I had the best (10 stars) Gin martini that I have had in a while. My wife had a glass of wine and we were set. Once seated, Nathan our server treated us like we were the only two in the restaurant. Sea scallops are out of this world delicious; the lobster bisque = amazing and their signature benchmark burgers are the top of the line.Thank you benchmark for helping us relax and enjoy our last dining out in Brooklyn! We will be back.
Went here with my wife. We normally dont do brunch, but because weve heard good things about this place, we gave it a shot.Holy cow.We had the donut holes which were absolutely amazing. Wife had lemon and ricotta pancakes and I had the steak and eggs. Our plates were truly delicious, and the wait time for them was not too bad. Dessert was the cookie dough eggroll, and despite the weird name, it was delicious. Also, their bacon...it may have been some of the best bacon Ive had. When there was one last piece, the wife and I were both eyeing before deciding to be civil and share. This place snuck up on us. We knew were going to get good food, but this was lip smacking, eye rolling, I-may-want-my-last-meal-here-before-i-die good. Our server was awesome too. Calm, cool, collected - he knew when to come to us without making us feel rushed.Oh, and a bit of good natured warning - their Benchmark Bloody Mary was STRONG. I dont mean that in a bad way either - it made for an damn good drink, and you know they werent stingy with the booze. All in all it really was a great experience and pleasure to go there again. This place may not be affordable enough to go there once a week, but youre absolutley, without a doubt, getting every penny you spend there.
Great brunch here. Set.in an old ice House this place is cozy and they have a tent on the patio with heaters in winter to keep you plenty warm if.you choose.I recommend the Short Rib Benedict, Steak and Eggs and thier Bloody Benchmark a Bloody Mary made with bourbon served with a piece of beef jerky.
Visiting from Kansas City and came here for our Anniversary/ my birthday and it was amazing!!! The food and atmosphere and staff were incredible!!!!! We started with a salad which was very yummy. My husband loved the bread! We each had steak and since were feom KC we love steak. This steak was amazing. I loved the carmalized marrow. BEST BIRTHDAY DINNER EVER!!!
Went for a quiet date night and had a great time. The servers were all extremely friendly, going out of their way to make everything convenient for us. For example, I was struggling a bit to find the entrance because it’s set back from the street, and the host jogged after me to show me in. It was raining and I was wet and they offered me towels. The food was also great. I had the restaurant week menu of peach burrata (perfect and fresh), pasta, and the cookie dough egg roll. We also tried the Brussel sprouts and seasonal lettuces. I can’t remember the name of the cocktail I got but it was perfect. I’d say expect to spent about $30-40 a head. I would definitely go again.
Benchmark is Park Slopes best kept restuarant secret! The moment you walk into the restaurant you feel cozy and relaxed. After running around Manhattan all day, it was nice to walk in and be greeted with a smile and sat quickly. Our waiter Tony was friendly and always made sure we had want we wanted and needed. Their menu is great and their cocktails were amazing! My friends and I had the house Southern Punch which was so delicious! We couldnt have just one! Jason the bartender was friendly and quick in getting our drinks made for us. All in all, it was a great dinner and a great night for my girlfriends and I. We will defintely be back again!
This restaurant is easy to miss from 5th avenue and one of the better places to eat in Park Slope. The wines are really great and the steaks are pretty tasty too. I do wish they would change their menu up a bit every so often, but the service and food are really good for this area.
Awesome spot to kick back and enjoy. Went here on a Wednesday during the day and had a beer and hung out. Felt comfortable and there were some lunchtime folks there for a beer and some quick food. They have a nice outside patio area, too. Great music- 90s grunge and that kinda good stuff. Thumbs up.
Always love the food and drink. Waiter today seemed a little 🙄 Zombie-esque. Maybe Sunday brunch drained him by the time we got there? On the flip side, one of the waitresses has a great Amy Schumer kind of personality and jokes. Never overcrowded, just enough buzz. Good place to go with a group or just one.
Had amazing chilaquiles for brunch a few weekends ago. The restaurant is housed in an old carriage house behind a courtyard and contains retro land surveying equipment found when excavating the property (hence benchmark). The music was great and the server was welcoming and attentive. Definitely will be back.
We discovered this restaurant by chance, wanting to go to the nearby La moutarde which had excellent critics but just disappeared (was sold to a french bakery).Benchmark is an excellent French-style restaurant. The three courses of the menu were all perfect. You should absolutely be placed outside, in the patio, and not inside were the atmosphere is dark, heavy. We met the young chef, not at all a Frenchman but a young american who learned a lot by working with good chefs. Quite sympathetic.Very good place, very good service, good wines at reasonable prices. The service was supervised by a couple of nice women, very attentioned.
Place was very nice and elegant reminded me of over seas restaurant. Great music (Jazz, modern music with a twist.) Reason I gave it a three stars was due to the food. The menu selection was kinda small in my opinion and I eat NOTHING while I was there. But beside that it was fine. I recommend checking menu before going.
Had the ribeye and filet mignon. They were cooked perfectly. We had the cheese platter appetizer which had large pieces of cheese we wouldnt see at other restaurants. We had sides of fries, Mac and cheese, and the brussel sprouts... All of which were to die for. We finished our meal with the strawberry shortcake and there couldnt have been a better way to end the meal. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Valentines dinner was a ripoff.Wrong drink was served, and AFTER we got our appetizer. We had to ask for bread.Chocolate sauce with foie gras ? That was not a pleasant combination. No care in how the plates look whatsoever. They just stack everything in top of each other ( filet mignon on top of asparagus, on top of mashed potatoes.... why!? ).Dessert was a lie. The lava cake was completely over cooked (no lava to be found) and the vol au vent was a joke. Not a single time were we asked if everything was alright.Oh, and it was $87 per person, no drinks included, not even a coffee.Food was ok to good but boring, service was bad, price was ridiculous.Dont get me wrong, we are regulars and when you come for their $18 prix fixe for brunch the value is amazing. But this dinner made both my wife and myself feel we got ripped off, which is not nice for Valentines Day.Shame on you benchmark.
Ate here yesterday. Scallops were past their prime. I ordered the tuna with pickled chantrelles, but it came with soggy portabella mushrooms when it arrived at the table. I dont know if they just forgot the change the menu or if they really thought no one would notice the difference between saffron yellow chantrelles mushrooms and grey/brown portabella mushrooms, but that pissed me off.Service was fine, atmosphere was fine.
Attractive space, excellent service, super good cocktails, yummy appetizers and perfectly cooked steak. We had two appetizers (seared fois gras and a soup) and split a large ribeye steak. Also had the fries and the charred brussels sprouts with the steak which were delicious! What more could we ask for? Since it is winter the space is quite small, but the outside courtyard area is large and I look forward to sitting outside once the weather warms up.
The cuisine is New American and the setting is casual yet nice enough for a nice date night out. In warmer temps, be sure to sit in their front outside area which has a canvas canopy overhead. Dont miss the marinated steak and tomato salad, which featured baby arugula, spiced goat cheese, and a cilantro pesto. The steak was nicely flavored and thin, which worked well with the goat cheese and the cilantro pesto.
Very cute place, weather was perfect for outside seating. It started off very good, excellent appetizers, wine selection is great we got some Rioja, but then a steak took forever to come out at least 45min wait, and it was ok it was not great. Overall it is not a bad place, but probably would not be my first choice for a steak house
I dined here on a Tuesday evening and opted to sit indoors over the outdoor seating area simply because of the humidity. Both spaces are lovely and in slightly cooler temps, Id be outside. We started with the Saxelby cheese plate which delicious, save for the blue cheese Ill never eat, along with the foie gras. Both were delicious and plates were definitely cleaned before moving onto the filet mignon entrees. I ordered my steak medium and it was definitely more on the medium-rare side, which was OK. Wonderfully seasoned and delicious despite my request to be prepared with butter or oil. This is definitely a great place for date night but not too date-sy that you feel uncomfortable if youre not there on a date. The staff was very attentive, helpful and friendly. Ill be returning for the cheeseburger and mac and cheese!
This is an elegant, amazing restaurant! Great service, beautiful decor, lovely food. Definitely recommend going there for brunch. Family friendly as well! Ive been to a lot of places in Park Slope and only here does it truly feel like not everything is being rushed and they actually care about your experience. 5/5 Muy bien.
Not the same when Ryan isnt there. Meat temperatures vary significantly, makes it very uncomfortable for the service staff to argue with the customers and chef releasing the dishes. 3 out 4 Chocolate 3s came out fully melted. Have been coming for year, never had it this bad.
Visited this place for Restaurant Week and want to go again to try more of the full menu. The evening started off with a delicious pea soup with lobster and creme fraiche, very well paired. The halibut in the main course was delicious but the reduction and vegetables accompanying it didnt really make sense. The panna cotta for dessert didnt really have much flavor. The service was great, I could barely put down my water glass after a sip before it was filled again. Some visitors might find this too attentive but as someone who drinks a lot of water it was absolutely perfect. Im sure once I revisit this place again the three star rating will become four.
This place should have a Michelin star...its that good. The dishes are inventive and the chef gives each dish a little native flare...for example their spicy lobster salad with banana guacamole...all I can say is, wow! Their tuna dish is another rockstar in their arsenal of flavor....and can we talk about the desserts? Insanely good, Jo matter what you have! Now, lets talk about the service... extremely attentive and not at all intrusive...the bus boy, was on top of our beverage needs the entire time, and not once did I have to search for our waitress or our bus boy on the floor, they worked like poetry in motion, and it was actually a pleasure to see them work together. Now lets talk about the ambiance - first class...whether youre sitting outside in the garden or dining inside (I recommend inside) only because it feels a little like a naughty speakeasy...its warm, inviting and the seating is oh so comfortable. I can not wait to go back!
5 stars all around.1st: The FoodEverything was cooked EXACTLY as requested , some rare others super well done etc. I had the seared sea scallops as an entree, streak as my main, and the cookies and cream egg roll for desert. Everything was perfection. The steak here was far better than the steak at STK. Without question.2nd: The StaffBartosz was delightful along with the rest of the wait staff. No glasses were ever empty, bread basket always remained full.3rd: The AmbienceBeautiful, simply beautiful. Sit outside if weather allows.4th: Night SpotThe cocktails are reasonably priced and my friends said they were good.
Was there this past Saturday. The food was AMAZING. Lobster salad was not only delish,, but plentiful. The Short ribs three ways were probably the best Ive had to date. The entrees, Filet and bone in ribeye, were perfectly seasoned, cook and were very tender. The sides, mac and cheese, hand cut fries and brussel sprouts , were also tasty, but the brussel sprouts were a little tough, I prefer a small pasta over the shells they used for the mac and cheeses, but overall, I still have to give this experience 5 stars. Would definitely go back when in Brooklyn again.
It is nice that Park Slope finally has a steakhouse, but dont expect the machismo and edge of a Manhattan beef joint (not a male server in sight). Good rib steak and hash browns, though, and a perfectly acceptable, if pedestrian, wine list. Very nice outdoor area if you like dining al fresco. Otherwise, head midtown for Bensons or The Palm.
Ive seen Benchmark before at popups around the city. When I saw their sign, it looked promising. After being turned down by three other Park Slope restaurants, Benchmark will be your savior. Their food is solid and right now they are doing a Restaurant Week promo. Three courses for $38. My favorite was the pork chops and their egg roll cookie dough dessert was unlike anything Ive had before. Nice date place.
The upside: The food was excellent. We had the Filet Mignon and the 26oz Porterhouse for the entrée - it steak was unbelievable. The Fois Gras appetizer was excellent as well. **If you appreciate a good cut of steak, this is the place. If you like to eat steaks at Applebees, dont waster your time or money. The downside: The service was good, not great and definitely needs improvement. I made reservations earlier in the week and they didnt have it when I arrived. I wasnt thrilled (it was our anniversary) but they gave us a table anyway. It took about ten minutes to take our drink orders and another ten for the drinks to arrive. Besides that hiccup, the service was good for the remainder of the evening.Verdict: Definitely worth going to for the food alone. Im sure as the restaurant develops they will fix the minor service issues. Its definitely not appropriate for a restaurant of that caliber.
This is a wonderful brunch spot-fresh ingredients, affordable for the quality and delicious dishes. They offer a two course deal; I always choose the grilled strawberry goat cheese salad followed by the crabcake benedict! When I am interested in something sweet, I love getting the pancakes here! You must also try their vanilla lemonade- best lemonade that Ive ever tried. For the wine lovers, try the pinot noir blanc - it is a white wine from Germany! Benchmark is great for dinner as well.
2 Stars for the decor, the waiter, and the willingness to adjust the bill. This is a steakhouse. Cook temperature is the most important thing in a steakhouse. They missed the mark on a $95 Porter house for 2 (that lacked texture and flavor) and when we sent that steak back, what replaced it was cooked further under. I ordered a fois gras appetizer. Even that got sent back for being under. This isnt going on the Must Go Back List. As a matter of fact. Never again.
The scenery here is so simple, yet so beautiful!🍃 Its basically the driveway to the restaurant turned into an outdoor dining experience!🍴 The overhead white tarp glows brilliantly with the stream of white lights.⚘ The greenery adds to its elegant feel.🍀 But be prepared to be one with nature!🐞🕷 Take it all in with delight, as you sip on fine wine🍷 After all, you are outdoors!

2022-02-16Great restaurant! Brooklyn gem. The steaks were absolutely delicious, the beet salad, and oysters were great! Will definitely be back! Special mention to the maitre d who got us a better situated table without us asking.

2022-06-03We had dinner... boneless ribeye, pear and burrata salad, seared scallops over risotto. Sides were brussels sprouts and goat cheese potatoes. All yummy.

2021-11-26Had the thanksgiving pre fixe lobster tail, prime rib, creamed spinach and mashed potatoes and pumpkin tart. It was pretty yummy but not mind blowingly epic. Service was excellent.

2022-01-15Interesting menu and the food was excellent. They had attentive service and they made a birthday dinner feel special. The outdoor heated tent outside was spacious and warm, and would be great for groups. Highly recommend this neighborhood gem for a nice meal.

2022-04-18Very good variety of tasty appetizers, and all the compulsory cuts of meat. Most meat servings were excellent, grilled to the right degree. The porterhouse was not accepted well. Similarly, the 3% credit card surcharge was not met with cheers.

2022-01-22Service -- the staff were great, no complaints. Dont want to speak down on them at all.Food -- very poor for the money. No hot food arrived hot, the steak was very undercooked then very overcooked when sent back (which they were very kind about) but ultimately the steak was just not good. The sandwiches just lacked the punch of flavor we were hoping for based on the menu description. Fries, Brussel sprouts and carbonara were great.Wine -- got a red, and it was overly chilled by a substantial amount. It was as chilled as a white wine should be. Not ideal.Ambience -- cold but otherwise nice.... but noticeably cold. Also, do not eat outside, there are no heaters, its just a tent.Value -- we wanted it to be better, but it wasnt. Might come back for drinks and trivia, but thats it.

2021-03-21This is nice cozy spot, that I booked at the very last minute without any prior knowledge. The experience wasnt disappointed me at all. Very quiet and nice place with very pleasant stuff. The food was interesting and tasty. I wasnt really hungry, so I wouldnt try too many things, so I will definitely come back for more.
