The food was okay, not special. The restaurant is really small. The menu is limited. We ordered chicken tikka malasa (decent), the lamb vindaloo (too spicy), and paneer tikka (not recommended). The somosa and the tandoori chicken tikka was good though. Look at the pictures attached.Would i recommend? Probably notAlso if you need parking, there a paid parking garage across the system
Arrogant service, maybe it’s due to a bit too many favorable reviews. Below average food. The vegetarian fare was terrible. I went with high expectations after reading some stellar reviews. Came back massively disappointed. Can’t recommend this one. Oh yea. I remember the samosas were awesome. That’s me trying to find something good.
Great food, we found this place on Yelp and it was highly reviewed so we wanted to visit. Their lunch special is the best meal you can get in $15. Quantity is more than you can ask for one person. We ordered naan as an additional item (not included in the lunch special). Highly recommend this place.
The best indian restaurant in NYC. The food is a symphony, a painting, an art! The one that makes you feel happy, delighted and eager with the flavors and taste. The crowd is wonderful and everything lovable in New York City. Central location, small venue! Just a perfection of a restaurant. The staff is so warm, caring and professional its just wonderful 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯A 10/10. I cant wait to be back there as much as possibleIts a BYOB. So please take your wine. Sancerre would be a perfection.
I read several good reviews about their Saag Paneer, however, I didnt like it at all(I love saag paneer, itsmy togo dish). I didnt like the malai kofta either, it had a coconutty taste. Also, the portion size of rice that they provide with the curry is ridiculously small(smallest Ive ever seen in the States).
Probably one of the best indian restaurant in the city. I love their limited menu! It makes it so easy to order. Their keema samosa is the best samosa in town! They use better quality meat compare to most indian restaurants. I have been there multiple timee and they never disappoint!
Though limited options, the food was amazing. Both veg and non-veg were equally good in taste. Malai kofta, Dal tadka, chicken homestyle, chicken Tandoori, Mano lassi etc. Spice level is a bit higher. its a small place with nice ambience. Getting a place may be a challenge. No prior reservation. Its a north Indian food joint, so the name is a misnomer. The cost is also pocket friendly. There are many garages for parking nearby.
Hands down the best Indian food we ate on our trip to NY. Chicken tikka masala was perfectly spiced and the flavors were amazing! So was the samosa. The gulab jamun could be softer - it had a little bite to it. Otherwise, everything was on point! Small little place with limited seating. But the food is perfect. Almost went back there to have another meal before leaving town, but the line was super duper long at noon-ish. So if you can, try to go at an off peak lunch hour to avoid the wait during office lunch break hours.
Surprisingly disappointing. Based on the reviews I thought this would be much better. Came for lunch and they were quite busy. The food was ok, not the best Indian food by a mile. The food was also quite spicy. My aloo gobi matar came with only one small piece of potato. They brought me out some extra potato. The naan tasted more fried than tandoori baked. And they forgot to bring me my dessert. Overall not impressed.
Hidden jewel in midtown! The food is really good, not expensive at all and the quality is amazing, very tasty. The place is really small, be prepared to wait for a table because you cant make reservations but you can order for takeout or pick up.Beware of the spicy ratings, ask the people there before trying to be brave because youll be surprised.
Food tastes great and is prepared well. Unfortunately I could not finish the food because I am having a reaction to the cashews not clearly labeled as an ingredient in the Chicken Tikka Masala. Grubhub has no mention of cashews as an ingredient, and the website menu only has a footnote saying that “our products have nuts” … but of course not all products (I.e. bread) have nuts here. So there is a need for clear indication of nut products to prevent a more severe reaction in someone else more allergic than myself
My favorite place to eat anytime I’m visiting NYC and by far the best Indian food I’ve had …probably in my life this far lol! Always very kind, welcoming, home-y environment and they play great cultural jams too ✨💖 my favorites include Keema Samosa, chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, and of course garlic naan!I pray that they keep their recipes for generations to come because the dishes are inspired, borderline healing, and so delectable that they inevitably conjure up a happy dance (y’all know the one! 💃🏽 🕺🏻 🤤). Makes me wish that I didn’t live alllllll the way in Massachusetts lol ✨✨✨✨ 13 stars out of 10!!!
Im a pescatarian. They offer a limited option lunch deal, that did not include vegetarian Tikka masala. I was going to order the dinner portion, but they were very accommodating to allow me to still get the lunch promotion with vegetarian Tikka masala. Delicious food and reasonably priced!
My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Bengal Tiger in Manhattan recently. Lovely place, but more important: such amazing AUTHENTIC Indian food! Papadum, mango chutney, keema samosa, mulligatawny soup, chicken vindaloo (SPICY), chicken korma, gulab jamun, kheer.... My goodness, I thought theyd have to roll us outta there! Outstanding prix fix, too!The service was professional and so friendly. Patience with descriptions of every dish, anticipating every need, serving with a smile. Theres not a single negative comment I could make about this place. If youre in the City, this spot gets high marks from us... check it out! ✅
The best place to have Indian food!! Most authentic flavors, they have a limited menu but everything is selective and amazing. Not very pricey, approx $50 for 2 people. Do try the malai kofta. They have great curries. The seating space is a little tight but rest everything is great. The staff is really friendly. They don’t take reservations and are closed for a few hours in the afternoon, because who not that’s the Bengali style of working!!I would 100% recommend the place, it’s one of my favorite places!!
Went to dinner here with my daughter before seeing a play and it was fabulous. The ambiance was perfect and the food outstanding!!! We both got the 3 course meal and wow did they give you alot of food!! Highly recommended! Reserve your spot ahead of time on Yelp for quicker seating
This is the best Indian Restaurant in NYC. The Staff is very friendly and the dishes are very tasty and full of spices. I will come definitely again to this brillant restaurant. :DTry the chicken curry and the wheat bread.EDIT: We were back yesterday and the waiter even remembered us. As an appetizer, the Pakora is highly recommended and everything was delicious as always :D
Really good Indian food for a good price. Big portions of curry which come with rice. Spicy is pretty spicy. Paneer makhni was really good and so was the garlic naan. Slightly sketchy entrance where you have to go up a flight of stairs but then the inside is pretty nice. Would recommend.
Have been meaning to leave Bengal Tiger a review for awhile. Visited here back in February. Have never been able to eat out at Indian restaurants due to my severe peanut and tree nut allergy. Decided to give Bengal Tiger a try given their outstanding reviews especially when it comes to allergies. I was not disappointed. I have never felt more comfortable dining out with my allergy. Staff is so accommodating to allergies and offered great recommendations. I had the chicken tikka masala and vegetable samosas. Both were phenomenal. Place was a little hard to locate (its on the second floor) and decently busy for a random weeknight but definitely would make another trip for this food. Dont pass up on ordering takeout from here during COVID!
One of my favorite places in a whole city. Prices are low, while quality is great. Service is quick and friendly. Atmosphere is like you are in a movie. Music, candles, darkness, smell of spices - magical. I just love it. Come and try the best Indian food. Bring your own bottle of beer or wine. Cork fee is 2/5$.Enjoooooy.Namaste 🙏🏻
We were near Columbus circle and decided to give this a place since it was nearby. We put our name on the yelp waiting list and waited forty minutes before checking in at the restaurant. Since this place was very small, many people were standing inside the restaurant waiting. We checked in and joined the line for an additional 20-30 minutes before being seated. The service was good and the food came out rather quickly. I ordered the makhani and enjoyed it.
Really a hidden gem not far from Central Park. The service was outstanding; very friendly and attentive! I got the Chicken Vindaloo and was warned two separate times that it was spicier than other Indian restaurants in the area. It was fantastic! It was spicy but not so spicy that you lost the flavor and authentic taste! I paired it with a garlic naan that was quite fantastic as well. The naan was thin and not overloaded with garlic. Overall, this was an amazing spot to grab a delicious lunch!! I will be back every time I’m in town!I have now returned on a business layover in NYC. It has been over a year since my last visit and I have truly missed Bengal Tiger! I am beyond pleased they have weathered the COVID storm and survived the end of civilization! I got the Aloo Gobi Matar and it was beyond fantastic. Spice level 7/10 was just right! Enough to hit the sinuses but not to the point the meal was unenjoyable! Table spacing and all health protocols were perfect!Go get some Bengal Tiger! You will be hooked!
They offer lunch special for fair price that includes soup and entree with rice. If you dont have time to eat in....call for some take out.It can get crowded during the week at lunch time. Curry and Tikka Masala are great!! I also recommend their Vegetable Samosa with peas and potatoes.
Absolutely brilliant service. We were in and out in 30 minutes. Had the vegetable masala and the lamb curry. It was well done. The vegetable samosa was absolutely great. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Great place for a quick date and for lunch as well. The staff is awesome. It’s a bit tight but what do you expect in NYC. I have eaten there 3 to 4 times since my original visit and it just keeps getting better.
Ambience :4/5Service :5/5Food :4/5Indian restaurants near central park ? We got you .Located just 2 blocks from the central park , found this restaurant on the way from Trump tower , dimly lit the place has a different feel with a dark background and fusion music playing in the restaurant. The menu is quite small and dont have much to offer though they have a 3 course meal for 21$ , we went for lunch so we decided to order :Paneer makhani (recommended) : this sabzi was great infact it had the right sweetness and good amount of paneer cubes in it , but the quantity is good enough for only 2 people.Bread : we ordered onion, plain and garlic Naans , all of them were good and soft and were served in 4 triangle shaped Naans each.Basically if you order sabzi and bread you get basmati rice complimentary so thats one good thing I liked here in NYC
Dont be deceived by the sketchy stairs... Go up them and try this place! I had the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was sooo good. The light cream tomato sauce was the perfect consistency and the chicken basically fell apart. I also had the garlic naan which was really tasty and a great complement to the sauce. YUM! Also, youll never get to the bottom of your cup of water- theyre constantly walking around filling cups and making sure that you are happy. Love this place and would go back!
At first you take a stairs, that seems from a movie of the mafia, to a second floor. Then you enter the dining room. Nothing pretending luxurious. Then a group of excellent people attend you with friendship and courtesy. The plates are just excellent. Go to the Tiger without fear. And I forgot, the offering is not just excellent,. Its unique.
Came here for there lunch special, where you get two curries, rice, and naan for $10. The curries were standard and you could pay an extra $1 for lamb. They let us swap out our rice for more naan. The chicken was more tender than some other places where its really dry.
Up the stairs, I arrived at the counter service restaurant. Lunch special add-ons are easy. I was a bit disappointed by mild spicyness; I enjoy (and can tolerate) a bit more heat in my Indian meals! Can substitute lunch special rice for naan instead, though the portions are smaller. The Curry is a bit bland, but I enjoyed the vindaloo, tikka masala and korma. The lamb and chicken meat pieces were tender rather than overcooked. Naan is thin. I love garlic naan and it wasn’t too flavorful or thick here. Everything comes on disposables for convenience. No table service, no elevator. Lots of seating.
Love this restaurant! Its on the second floor of a building and its kind of fun to make your way up there. The food is super authentic in its quality and presentation. Love this little hidden gem for good Indian food! One of my top spots for Indian in this area. Would definitely come here again next time Im craving curry.
I got the expensive, but appropriately priced for NYC 3 course Prix Fix with Pakora, Lamb Vindaloo & Kheer, and then some garlic Naan, and a Mango Lassi. The Naan was good, the Pakora was good, the Kheer was good, as was the Lassi! The Lamb was not tender and rather tough & chewy which spoilt the otherwise good Vindaloo. Unfortunately despite them giggling and asking twice if i am sure I want the very hot Vindaloo, the Vindaloo was medium spicy. Not at all like a british/kiwi curry. I knew I should have gone to curry row. Ok meal, not recommended.
Ive been to many Indian restaurants in the city, but this one is definitely towards the top of my list for a few reasons. They have a very good prefix menu for both lunch and dinner, which include some very good options. Often at Indian restaurants, the prefix choices arent that great. Here, I was impressed and blown away. I specifically had the veggie samosa and the paneer makhani (a good benchmark dish for me in order to compare to other restaurants). Both were very good! My husband had the chicken korma, he wasnt a fan of the korma sauce but said my paneer makhani was amazing. I also really like the fact that it is BYOB. I like some dry red with my Indian food and usually Im not a fan of the wine offerings at most Indian restaurants. It was nice that we could bring our own bottle here! Ill definitely be back here seeing as its close to my office and not far from my apartment.
Their chana saag is great and so far is my favorite from any Indian restaurant in the city. What I liked the most is how much of each spice you can taste. The spinach has a nice simmered flavor to it. The spice here is a little hotter on average where their 4 is prob a 5-6 in other restaurants. Will definitely return, this time with more notches on my belt.
Love the food BUT really annoyed that the server didnt allow us to order our food at the spiciest level, which is what we requested. She insisted that the food was super spicy as is especially compared to what their customers are typically used to at other Indian restaurants. We insisted we could handle the highest spice level possible but again, she was convinced to put in the order how she saw fit. Of course when we get our food, we wished it couldve been spicier. It did have some kick, but not as much as we wouldve liked. Please give customers like us what we ask for going forward.
First visit, enjoyed it very much. The Prix Fixe menu is a wonderful option and your are not limited on choices for appetizer and main. The butternut squash was savory and enjoyable, balanced on the spices. The chicken Vindaloo was excellent and lived up to the heads up that it is spicy, and also well seasoned. The atmosphere is chill and laid-back. The service is attentive but not overbearing. Overall a very pleasant experience.
Food was flavorsome and served nice and hot. Service was fast and staff was friendly. It is a small Indian restaurant in the heart of times square and it has beautiful Indian decor on the inside. From the outside it’s misleading as to what all this place has to offer.
Food was good but chicken was a bit dry and lamb a bit tougher than expected. Heard great things about this place so maybe expectations were set too high. If you dont usually eat spicy definitely get mild. They describe normal spicy as below their medium but it was still pretty spicy. Service was good and friendly with timely water refills.
Holy cow! This place was phenomenal! You have to walk up some shady steps inside the building to get to the restaurant but once you enter it is ever so cute and cozy. The waiter (not sure if he is the owner) was nice and welcoming. And the food, the food was so delicious.Mali kofta 5 starsRoti 5 stars (we ordered this on the side)Samosa 5 starsKheer 5 stars! This was a 3 course meal for just $25I highly recommend!
Okay, let me start off my saying this place is a must try. Absolutely delicious. Small space so get there early cause there will be a wait after 6 ish. Vegetarian, vegan and carnivore options that are all equally tasty and everything is so reasonably priced. Try the 3 course meal its worth it and the deserts are all interesting and mouth watering. Authentic in spice levels, so be cautious. Service is on point. Just do it.
There was nothing special about it, the food was OK but too salty, so if you have issues with salt this place is definitely not good for you, the number of tablets was limited so we had to wait for a long time.. the naan bread was awesome and freshly baked, in general its not likely too come back again.
I had the Chicken Tikka Masala with a side of Garlic Naan and chose a spice level of 7 out of 10. Absolutely fantastic Indian food that is 95% as good as the Indian food I had in the UK. Im from TX, and the Indian food there is abysmal, I can finally say with confidence now though that good Indian food does exist in the U.S.No beer served here which was a bummer, and the rice portion was very small, but the Naan serving size was standard and there was plenty of Chicken and Sauce.
This place is cozy and full of great foods. I had the Mullingatawny Soup, Lamb Curry, and Chicken Curry. Both my girlfriend and I enjoyed the service and the food. I was very pleased. If you skip this place while here in NYC, youre missing out on the best Indian food in town. Thanks for the delicious food!
Yum! Delicious Saag Paneer and Mulligatawny soup. Lunch specials are $12.95 and includes either a butternut squash soup or mulligatawny soup with a curry entree. The mulligatawny soup is a lemony lentil soup that is slightly too salty, but still pretty good. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor, so dont be as confused as I was walking into the Japanese place next door.
Im not an expert on Bengal cuisine, but comparing the flavors to other Indian restaurants it was different, and good. The portion size is small. Three course meal comes with one piece of samosa (meat dumpling), just 1! Dessert is also one piece of either gulab jamun or ras malai, again just 1! Seeing that its a party of 2, just out of courtesy, they wouldnt throw you an extra piece. Its an additional cost. Main entreé was satisfying, however, if you want bread thats additional cost. Comes with tiny portion of rice, good to satisfy one person. Point being, three course meal is neither good for 1 person nor 2. Hospitality is lacking. In my honest opinion, if I have guests coming over I would be generous. Not stingy and charge extra for bread, or an extra piece of dessert. Mind you, those dessert balls are the size of a roulette ball 😂. Tl;dr not worth 50 bucks for 2 entreé, and a piece of an appetizer and dessert each.
This restaurant used to be very good pre-covid. The service this evening was extremely slow, it took them 30 min after our reservation time to get seated, another 20 minutes to place our order, and another 20 minutes to pay the bill. The food was alright - I ordered the malai kofta and it wasn’t as soft as it should be - overcooked.I really liked the the mango lassi and garlic naan. There are better Indian restaurants in NYC.
Where to even begin?! From the customer service to the quality of food…amazing! We didn’t have a reservation and it was a busy night, but they not only accommodated us and sat us quickly, but they also expedited everything so we could make our show on time. The food was some of the best we’ve ever had and we’d go back in a heartbeat. A must on a top NYC restaurant list! Thanks Bengal Tiger!!
Small upstairs location right close to 5th Ave, pretty busy always with limited seating, prepare to wait a bit. Ordered the Mango lassi, was tasty but maybe missing some kick like cardmom, chicken tikka masala, med spicy, was great with good portions. Rice is served in very small bowl but you can ask for more without paying. Pay extra for breads, very reasonable pricing for Manhattan
The food here was actually pretty good... although we made the mistake of ordering the chicken vindaloo. It is the most insanely spicy thing weve ever eaten! For lovers of spicy food this is what you should try. The place is a little cramped up and th4 menu is very very limited. I wish they add some more appetizers...
Worth it! Next craving for Indian food I will def come again. Note: The place is small and may have to wait against a wall. But it went fairly fast - as is the service. Still thinking about the garlic naan. Vindaloo is spicy as hell but delicious. Two people, two dishes and there was still enough to take home.
Although the entrance looks weird, once you enter the place at the 2nd floor, expect an efficient and tasty experience. We had a reservation, so didn’t have to wait. Mango lassi is a must. Also, lamb curry, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan. I preferred the rasmalai. Highly recommended!
I absolutely love this place - I’ve been here multiple times to grab dinner with friends and the food and service is always amazing. Very affordable prices to top it all off. It’s a on the second floor, so you’ll need to take stairs up to get there, but it’s pretty easy to find from the street.
Excellent north Indian cuisine. The chicken korma was juicy, tender and creamy. The naan was very moist and not overcooked/burnt. The rice pudding was delicious too. Payal was an amazing server, she was very hospitable, kind and efficient. The ambiance of the restaurant was very good as well. Overall a very good place for North Indian food. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for Indian food.
It was a pleasant surprise to see the quaint but very warm atmosphere here considering the overall look of the building. It was a recommendation from another Indian spot in the area believe it or not. We thoroughly enjoyed the food. It was delicious. Staff was really nice and accommodating. Look forward to coming back in the future.
Content with what I got here, will come back to try something else.I tried the Chana Saag for a healthier option, was worried when I saw how much spinach there was but the oils and spices go a long way to balancing it out. Felt like a complete meal with just the $16 entree, you get roughly 2 full plates worth of the entree+rice. As it comes its the perfect amount of spice for me (just enough to clear sinuses) but if you are sensitive ask for less.
Ive been here 4 or 5 times and the food was delicious each time. If you come on a Friday night, expect to wait unless you come for an early (6ish) dinner. And expect a gratis rice pudding. : ) update 02.2022 - the prixfixe meal is still the best. Glad to see this place is still as busting as ever!
Great indian food. Im a real fan of indian foods but I especially liked this place because the service here was really quick. (Usually I had to wait not so short amount of time in indian restaurants-im not saying that they are slow but its just because it takes a long time to serve curries with such a great taste)
This place has the best INDIAN FOOD ... my partner is Black and White American and he never likes Indian food but eating from this place he likes Indian food now ... Their service was fast and the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming .... I order take out and I got my food in split second fresh and fast ... Its actually my first time eating from here ... WELL BENGALI TIGER YOU HAVE A NEW CUSTOMER ON BOARD.... EXCELLENT FOOD!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD JOB!!!
Located this place thanks to Google maps A small restaurant on the first floor Very busy Excellent food.unfortuneateky they do not take reservations but you could try reserving online The starters, breads and curries very well made Worth a visit when you in Manhattan. The staff is very friendly and the service excellent
Good restaurant in Midtown! Very small place on 2nd floor but nice ambience. I will definitely say that nice classical indian music was great for background in indian restaurants other than loudy bollywood songs. Very small place and usually crowded if you go around 8pm. Food was real nice. Kind of very small menu compared to other restaurants but they justifies it with amazing taste of all the things. Very good staff. But they do not have messaging facility for waiting people like other restaurants.Just one thing, Mango Lassi should be sweet instead of salty Lassi!
This tiny, upstairs place is amazing. We were overwhelmed with how fabulous this meal was... Seriously the BEST Indian food I’ve had in a long time! The food was absolutely delicious - perfect lamb and chicken korma, chicken makhani, tikka masala, and (oh!) the eggplant! The service was impeccable, even for our group of seven. We were seated super quickly, and our waitress was wonderfully attentive and friendly, offering menu suggestions when needed and keeping everyone totally happy (including the kids in our party). We could not have been more pleased and will DEFINITELY be back when we’re in NYC next.
Its not a hyperbole to say but this is the best Indian restaurant Ive been to in my life. The food was amazing but the standout service was the part I didnt expect but something I received. The server was respectful, humble, attentive, and generous. Not sure if Ill ever be in NY again but I know where to go.
Im a little surprised that this is one of the highest rated Indian restaurants in New York. The dining experience (ambiance + service) was lovely, however, the food was a little bit of a letdown.Chicken Korma (4/5) - first time having this dish before. It was sweet and delicious! It came with a good amount of chicken. I wouldve liked the chicken to be juicier. Also, we got this medium spicy but it wasnt spicy!Chicken Paneer Makhni (4/5) - they told us this was the butter chicken. It was yummy too! Very creamy. For spice level, we chose mild but I didnt taste any spicy.Lamb Curry (3/5) - the lamb itself was great but the curry wasnt that good. We were recommended this dish by our server. We chose medium but this one was significantly more spicy than the Korma. Each dish came with Basmati rice but it tasted uncooked. Each dish was $16-$17, which is definitely more what I find in other cities, but thats to be expected from anywhere in NYC.Oh also, we chose to do the fixe price combo ($22) for one of them. The truth is that it really wasnt really worth it. The appetizer and dessert were both tiny (pictured). But on the bright side, the service was amazing! We were checked on constantly and our waters were refilled almost by the sip.
After all the holiday cooking (and eating), was in the mood for a take out and we just randomly ordered from Bengal Tiger, first time customers...and we were not disappointed! We liked that nothing was swimming in ghee or cream, everything was perfectly seasoned (although be cautioned that they are not shy about their hot-spice!), fresh, and as we ordered enough to feed an army (for just the 2 of us...) its a testament to the food when one looks forward to the leftovers. I wont lie, walking up the shabby steps to their 2nd floor midtown locale sent a few alarms, but the place was clean and the staff were incredibly friendly. Definitely recommended!
Amazing lunch deal. $15 soup/entree and I ordered another entree off the regular menu. Id expect the lunch entree deal to be smaller, but it was a full portion. Phenomenal spicy (but edible) vindaloo; the butternut squash soup is autumn in a bowl; the samosas were the size of baseballs. The saag paneer was a little lackluster by comparison, but still solid.
This place is unquestionably one of the finest place in the region. Always when I come to this place I am very satisfied. They always keep their high level service and the highest level of food they serve. You will be always satisfied with this place. Very recommended.
This was delicious! On a chilly rainy night we had an absolutely wonderful Indian meal! Fresh vegetables in the korma and tikka masala. They were perfectly cooked and the sauce was perfectly seasoned!naan was delicious and light perfect to soak up extra sauce.Sweet waitress helped us pick delicious meal!So glad we walked the 6 blocks in the rain- so worth it!
Simply Amazing. By far the best, sort of hidden, Indian restaurant anywhere close by and in my opinion all of Manhattan. Everything on the Menu is amazing, weather you eat it in or take it out. They package their food very well and it is always hot and fresh when I have taken it out to eat. Must try their Mango Lass, so smooth, a little tangy and perfectly sweet.
We ordered atleast 3-4 times in the last few days. Amazing food.Chicken malai kebab was so creamy and juicy and tasty. Mind blowingLoved the mango lassi tooI ordered the chicken thali with tikka chicken - wasn’t the bestOrdered keema samosa- very goodWe stuck to malai kebab the next few timesMust try.
Very congested, dark suffocating sitting area. I ordered chicken biryani which was so horrible in texture as it was over oiled and as if the steamed rice was mixed with some gravy and few pieces of chicken thrown in it. They dont know how to cook authentic Indian biryani. Also I dont know what cooking medium they use but I had so much heart burn after eating that over boiled spicy ridiculous dish which they call as Chicken Biryani. I am definitely not going there again. In fact I will suggest to go to the Biryani Cart, the road side food truck, the chicken biryani there was so excellent, authentic in taste with very reasonable prices.
We found this to be an excellent restaurant the food was delicious, the portions were plentiful, and the price was right. It is a BYOB restaurant so be sure to bring your own wine or beer if you’re so inclined. Everything we had was a little spicy although we did order it Regulus style. If you prefer you may order extra spicy. Everything we had was delicious the chicken masala was delicious, and eggplant dish was delicious the little fried dumpling things that we had as an appetizer were delicious the garlic Nan was delicious, as were some of the vegetarian things we tried. Definitely one of the better Indian restaurants that I’ve been to and I’ve been To quite a few.
Bengal tiger has been a consistent, high quality, delicious Indian restaurant for as long as I’ve lived in NYC. (Many years). Even throughout the pandemic, when I’ve been ordering delivery, Bengal Tiger has never disappointed with their hot, tasty food delivered on time. I always love their cilantro naan, samosas, and pretty much any dish without meat as I am vegetarian.
Highly recommended. Great food. Really enjoyed the food. The only downside was they had just opened for dinner and they were still cleaning the floor with a mop and the smell from the chemicals of the cleaning product put a damper on the meal. If not for that I would have given 5 stars. Management should be aware that moping the floor while serving food should not be simultaneous.
Fantastic food. Nowhere better for Indian food in all of NYC. It is a must-do for all tourists and locals alike. Service is fantastic; every time I took a drink there was someone to fill my cup back up. The staff are friendly and welcoming which compliments the intimate aroma of the establishment. The space is tight, but adds to the cultural theme and tone of the restaurant itself.
Great food, great prices. Definitely try the Chicken Tikka Masala. I have been eating here for a couple of years now and its been great everytime. Few other dishes worth the mention is their saag chicken and their Dal makhni. Their normal spice level is perfect but you can ask them to turn the heat up and you will not be disappointed if you like spicy.
This place has really good food that is served pretty quickly. Every dish we had was delicious and they are very accurate on their recommendations of scoville scale units. Get there early and get your name on the list as they do not take reservations and it gets filled up quickly. We had a 30 minute wait at 5:30 on a Friday and just went down the street for a cocktail until the sent us a text that our table is ready.
This place was amazing. My last meal in NYC could not have been better. The food is amazing. They have all varieties of spice so everyone can enjoy something. Everyone at my table were licking their bowls clean when we were finishing. The portion sizes were also perfect. I left the restaurant 100% satisfied, just like Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Not too much, not too little, just perfect. And lastly, the service was the best part of the night. Our waiter was the sweetest, kindest, most caring waiter I have had in a very long time. I feel he genuinely cared about us having a wonderful time, and was friendly enough to have a conversation with. He was also extremely productive. It was a challenge to finish all the water in your cup because he gave you a refill every time he saw you take a drink.. All in all this place was great. I highly recommend it to anyone.

2022-06-11Great food, decently priced and excellent service. Some highlights:A. Water served is at perfect temperature. Not as warm as you get in a non-refrigerated bottled water and not as cold as refrigerated water or ice water you generally get in restaurants. Also, the server was diligent about refilling our water glasses timely. Best thing was it was served in a steel glass. Being Indian, it’s a great homely feeling of drinking perfectly cold water in a steel glass.B. The curries had a slightly different flavor than you generally get in typical Indian restaurants in the US. They had more strong flavors, maybe of cinnamon and other rarely used Indian herbs. Definitely different than standard Indian restaurants in US, so a great one to try once in a long while.C. In appetizers, samosa seemed like freshly made and had authentic taste whereas the butternut squash soup had a slightly different after taste than you generally get after having standard soups.D. 5 stars to the service. Excellent and diligent.

2021-11-23One of the best Indian places Ive ever tried. Pretty phenomenal.Despite what others may say, their spicy isnt very spicy at all. Its white people spicy. So, feel free to go wild and get the food with a little bit of spice.

2022-06-04I went to this place because it was near my hotel and of the reviews and boy does this place deserve all these high rated reviews! The three courses for $25 is worth it and with a side order of nann bread, it will fill you up. The samosa, channa masala and the desert were all phenomenal and full of flavor! This place is not far from central park so after a long day of walking around the park, come here if you feel like some delicious Indian food!

2022-04-11Amazing food! I had the chicken makhni and the samosa. It was delicious. The naan was very good too. My friends enjoyed the dishes they had as well. This is THE Indian restaurant to go to in midtown. It is very small. There will be a wait, but it’s worth it.

2022-06-28TLDR: everything from the service to the food was exceptional. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area.I had, what could arguably be, the best seat in the house.I found the entrance and walked up the stairs to the second floor (the west coast in me found this to be odd, but hey, new coast and new city = open to new experiences). I walked in and the place was packed, a sure sign that it was worth the wait. I’d been walking all over the city so the last thing I wanted to do was wait in a ridiculous line. The host greeted me and let me know the estimated wait time. I was close to ordering my food to go, but he insisted I wait and that people were almost leaving. I’m so glad he insisted and that I exercised patience.I sat at the very end of the restaurant with a beautiful view of the street, and watched the sun light cast shadows on the pavement as the sun set.Now for the food! I ordered the chicken korma which came with rice, a side of garlic naan, and a mango lassi. The food did not disappoint. From the texture and thickness of the korma, to the juicy tenderness of the meat, to the aromatic flavors of the garlic naan. They did not skimp on the garlic. The mango lassi was also full of flavor and you can task the mango and the yogurt at the same time.

2022-03-27Small spot not too far from Times Square. Had to wait about 40 mins for a table but service was prompt. We ordered the prix fix meal with veggie samosa, lamb vindaloo and gulab Jaman. Also ordered a side of garlic Naan. Food was quite tasty though I have had better vindaloo. My friends chicken marsala was good too. Overall worth trying it and its BYOB which is great

2021-11-18Conveniently located near the Moma and Central Park, this was our first lunch in NYC. The weekly lunch special gets you a ton of food, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The waiter checked our vaccine card and ID at the door, and we watched them turn away a few people who didnt have one or the other. The food was phenomenal, and I really wish Id had more room to eat it all.
