Adopted our Lou from Best Friends back in march! Best decision we’ve ever made. Lou was a very traumatized and scared cat but they could tell that he was a sweetheart who just needed time, and they were completely right. During the adoption process, they were so on top of things despite operating during the pandemic, and the entire process was seamless and stress-free. They made sure we were well-informed and provided care guides, and they obviously care so much about animals and finding them caring, loving homes (shoutout to Kristen!!)

I scheduled a viewing appointment online and it was quick and easy. When I got there I was the only visitor and the place was nice and clean and inviting and the staff were so friendly. After going through the two rooms I fell in love with a sweet orange boy who had just arrived there the night before and I got to take him home right away. Adoption was sweet and simple and straight forward and I couldnt be happier with my decision to adopt from them. Ive had this little guy for two months now and I absolutely adore him. I plan to return soon to get him a companion

I adopted my kitten from best friends last week and it was an amazing process. Their center is clean and easy to see all the cats. The staff was so kind and helpful with finding the right animal for me. Once I decided on the kitten the process was completed in minutes and I got to take my new pal home. They’ve checked in and answered all my questions. I highly recommend going to best friends in person!

On Dec 9th, my beloved Jigglypuff passed away after her battle with illness, she was only 8 years old. I was devastated and the grief was overwhelming. Everyday I wake up to an endless loop of nightmare and guilty, you always question what if when something like this happens. 6 weeks later, I decided to adopt another cat because grief is just love with nowhere to give.I have been looking at Petfinder and Bestfriend NYC for a good 3 weeks, originally I decided to adopt this cat named Link, but unfortunately he has some health issue and was not able to meet and greet human. This is when I laid my eyes on Ruby, a gorgeous 5 year old calico who looked so sad being in her cage, you can see in her eyes that all she needs is someone to give her love and a forever home. I picked her up the same day with no hassle at all from the shelter. I am so glad I did because she turns out to be so loving and affectionate, she always want to be petted and be around me. Even though I saved her from living in a shelter, she actually saved me from my further descend into sorrow and depression. It has been a week now and I am so happy that I adopted her, the amount of love Ive shown her, she returned 10 fold.Thank you BestFriends NYC for caring and giving these helpless animals another chance for a loving home. The staffs here are exceptionally knowledgeable about every single cats there and their needs, and theyre so kind and patient in answering all my questions. The place is extremely tidy and clean too, which is always a great first impression when you enter a new place.TLDR: Please adopt, do not buy from a breeder, you are saving an animals life by giving them a second chance, and they will forever be grateful to you.

I can’t say enough how wonderful of an experience I had with Best Friends! They care deeply for the animals and do a thorough adoption process, which I think is so important. I rescued a wonderful cat who I couldn’t imagine my life without. I was really impressed with her former fosters, all of the medical history the agency was able to compile for me on her, and just how supportive and kind everyone was through this process. I urge everyone to please try to support No Kill agencies like this!

Let me first off by saying, they are not a good adoption/donation business. The cat we got, he is so loving 24/7. They don’t know anything about the cats there at all. They literally interrogate you and talk down on you as if you’ve never owned/took care of a cat before.I, regrettably, remember both of their names who gave REALLY bad customer service. First one is Diane. She talked down on my significant other as if she was below her and didn’t know anything about cats. She has the most nastiest attitude you could ever hear/see. Maybe they need to do a better job at the hiring process/orientation. These cats deserve WAY better than what they have there. The only good thing that came out of giving them business is that we got the most loving cat. If we wouldn’t have took him, he wouldn’t have been saved at all. Poor thing 😢The last volunteer who was rude, her name is Kay. She talked like she didn’t know anything about cats, she talked down on me as if I’ve never had a cat before. I grew up with cats I know how they are & how to take care of them.Somebody needs to shut them down and have the cats go to a different animal shelter or get a better volunteer program. If you want to adopt an animal, make sure you don’t have interaction with Diane or Kay. The rest of the people are AMAZING!

Proud new foster parent. My dog Jamal is the perfect companion and family pet. Its an honor to have this opportunity, to save lives and end no-kill. Ill continue my help in any way I can.

Phenomenal establishment. They are all extremely friendly and truly care about the pets going to a spectacular home. Diane was AMAZING, for a first time having a cat she broke everything down perfectly. Everyone is amazing but Diane is the one you want to look for, hands down.

I was considering adopting two cats this summer, and I began my in-person search here. The location is very easy to get to; just a short walk from the NQR line. I brought my children along, and the staff were warm, friendly, and welcoming. They were knowledgeable about all the cats up for adoption and were patient and generous with the play and petting time my kids could have with the cats. The facility itself is well lit, nicely decorated, and very clean. The cats appear to be reasonably happy (they would be much happier in forever homes, of course!), and well taken care of.The adoption process, as I understand it, is a little less invasive than some of the other rescue agencies Ive connected with, and the volunteers and coordinators are very upbeat and non-judgmental. I think this is a wonderful place to look if you are in search of a furry friend, as they offer a pleasant, low-stress way of connecting with your new BFF. If youre not looking for a pet right now, do consider donating supplies or money here; from what Ive seen, it will likely go to good use.

We got an amazing boy from here. We were told he is a very shy cat and can take a while to come out but funny thing is he started coming out to explore our room on the 2nd night. Purring and affectionately asking for pets as well. He loves rubbing scratching everywhere anywhere. Only been two weeks he has sneaked around everywhere in the house. Hes very nosy for a shy cat 😆We think he is meant to be with us. He was the only one who showed interest in us when we visited. I think he picked us out too. Now we cannot stop spoiling him with toys.Thank you Randi (curly hair lady with bright shining eyes) for bringing him to our attention and letting us know he can be a sweet baby. She know and cares about the kitties they have.If you visit here, definitely give the shy ones a chance. They are full of surprises!
