I selected this hotel because it was significantly cheaper than other hotels near LaGuardia airport. The staff was super friendly, the room was clean, the bed was so comfortable. Best night sleep in a long time. We didnt have time to stay for breakfast, but it was included! It is also located near several restaurants. I wouldnt say this was a 5 star hotel, but the value for the money is well above 5 stars.
The rooms were clean cozy and provided desks, chairs etc. For all my needs. The complimentary breakfast was of high standards and was open till 9:30 am to suit my late routine. However the hotel is positioned very near a subway station and the noise is somewhat disturbing at night
A wonderful place to stay--very clean, comfortable bed & friendly staff--except for breakfast lady. She was a bit rude when I asked for more coffee (taking 1 star off for that incident.) Subway train next to hotel, but walls insulated well and not a noise problem for us. Manager very helpful with directions to NY attractions.
Conveniently located close to a subway line 7 station which takes you directly to Central Station or Times Square. With that benefit comes the downside of loud train noise especially in rooms in the front along Roosevelt Ave. Staff is nice and tries to accommodate. Breakfast is free, however could benefit from better choices and quality. Especially the scrambled eggs have a strange texture and lack of taste. Overall a very nice hotel with clean rooms. I would stay here again.
Liked the cleanliness and the modern accommodations. The subway was a short 1 block walk, and despite the appearance of the neighborhood, we felt safe. The free breakfast was well stocked and up to standards. Staff was friendly and helpful with maps, neighborhood information and baggage storage after checkout. Close to LaGuardia and free shuttle to the airport. Well be back!
Beautiful hotel. A very comfortable stay before headed to the airport. Bed was awesome and bathroom clean and modern. Very well stocked breakfast. Docked a star because they (an airport hotel) apparently only run their shuttle to LaGuardia on the hour, despite it being 7 minutes away. Otherwise fantastic place, will stay again next time I fly.
Nicely appointed, clean and modern architectural details. Wonderful three level open atrium space.Fine print: One must call the hotel to request the shuttle van to retrieve your party from the airport. The hotel is in a wonderful working class area, full of flavorful Latin family prepared cuisine. The neighboring homes have kids playing about and have little bicycles against the railing steps and lamp posts. The elevated train entrance is just steps away from the hotel. The noise of the train passing by is suppressed by the dual layer building facade.Well done, we will return again.
I have stayed at this hotel the last 3 years while attending the US Open tennis tournament. I love being only a 15 minute walk away from the stadium. We have never had a problem getting a parking space and its free! The staff are always friendly and helpful. The rooms are very accommodating and have a mini fridge and a microwave as well as a coffee maker. They also have a small selection of items by the front desk. We got back late most nights and it was great to be able to grab a snack or a meal to heat up in the room. I highly recommend staying here!
Lobby and rooms looked new or recently remodeled. Clean convenient airport location. Parking spaces limited, but accommodating. Beds comfortable. Definitely would stay again. Check on your shuttle ride times depart on the hour. Airport departing times accurate and a great driver. All staff was nice, offered pastries at checkin, modern decor was welcoming. I was concerned with the rail running so close in front of property, but room seemed quiet. Definitely will stay there again. Already booked!
Just returned home from our visit to NYC June 1st-3rd. We were there for the Scholastics National Award Ceremony and were not willing to pay the $300+ per night rates at the hotels in Manhattan where the event was taking place. We lucked up and found this hotel which is a hidden jewel nestled in the heart of a residential area. Our room and the entire hotel was immaculately clean. Spacious rooms with great amenities including refrigerator and microwave. Courtesy shuttle to and from the airport as well as a delicious complementary breakfast made our trip a success. The hotel is located super close to the subway and although we heard the train while in our room, it didnt bother us much. Being located so closely to the subway worked out very well for us because we had to travel to Carnegie Hall and the Roosevelt Hotel which are both located in Manhattan. The staff were all very accommodating and friendly. We saw the manager a couple of times and he was great! He made us feel welcomed and appreciated. If you can stand a little noise from the subway trains, this hotel is a great choice!
We stayed here in October because the price was so reasonable. The hotel is amazing. The room and all common areas were immaculate with no odors. Bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows, staff was friendly. You barely notice the train noise, it just sounds like thunder off in the distance. The hotel is about 30 to 40 minutes from Manhattan via train. The neighborhood is cool. Not at all scary if youre open to new experiences and cultures. There is a little pizza joint around the corner where you can get a large slice for $2.25. Cash only at most places in the neighborhood. Go ahead, interact with the locals! Theyre just working people trying to earn a living like everyone else.Riding the train to Manhattan was an experience that you shouldnt miss. The 7 takes you to Times Square and Grand Central Station. Buy a metro pass at the machine in the station, but be sure to have cash because the machine doesnt always like credit cards.
Flight out of LGA was cancelled, so I ended up here at 2 in the morning - tired and frustrated. I cannot express how wonderful the front desk service was!! The woman staffing the desk as our shuttle of disgruntled travelers arrived handled it like a pro. She showed empathy, worked quickly to get us all situated, and went above and beyond to make sure we were cared for completely. She was AMAZING. The hotel was clean, cutesy decorated for Halloween, and perfectly comfortable for my brief and unplanned stay. A good first experience with Best Western for me!
Overall great stay, I would stay again. Great service, updated hotel, convenient location with the shuttle. A bit noisy due to the subway rails, which goes by every 10 mins or so. I slept through it but some might be bothered. My window was right next to the rails and I was on one of the top floors.
Loved the hotel. Really close to Citi Field and the 7 train. Airport shuttle was quick and very friendly. Breakfast was decent. Not the best or the worst. The area is a little old but not dangerous. It was nice to stay somewhere with character rather than the santized Times Square. We requested a room in the back since my husband is a light sleeper and were not disturbed by the train at all. Only downside was the extra 30 minutes to commute to Manhattan, but the room was $100 less than anywhere on the island so it was definitely worth it!
The Best Western Plus LaGuardia is very convenient for getting to Manhattan, 25 min by line 7. Hotel has free shuttle to and from La Guardia Airport. Hotel is clean and staff is efficient and helpful. Good breakfast.Good room amenities like tea coffee maker, safe, iron, hair dryer. We were a family of three so had a room with two king beds. The line 7 metro runs right besides the hotel but there was very little noise in the room. We got back at 11 pm by metro and was very safe. It is 15 min walk to Flushing Meadows so would stay here if attending the US Open.
A surprising nice hotel with an innocuous front door. Sits next to the elevated Subway but we never heard a sound. Good warm breakfast, hot shower with good pressure, clean comfortable room. Yet one fatal flaw, exceptionally limited parking. Prepare to find street parking. Real pain the the *as, especially if its near game time. Be prepared.
Was here few days ago visiting NY for the first time. The location is outside of the city but less than 2 minute walk to the train. The shuttle picked us up within 10 minutes, Hotel was clean and up-to-date, staff was extremely helpful and friendly including the manager. Breakfast was great too!!! Limited parking, not a big selection of alcohol beverages :(, walls are a little thin. Would recommend if you are okay with riding the subway and love hispanic community.
Hotel is clean and updated. I was able to park in the back because I got there early. otherwise I think its possible to park on the street . The breakfast was good if you have no special diet. However, if you are plant based/ vegan it will be lacking. Oatmeal but no soy milk. Cereal, bagels and bread. Maybe I could eat those but couldnt because I didnt know if they contained animal products . No ingredients listed. I was able to eat fruits and fruit juice though. I asked for a room facing the back so the train noise didnt bother me. Overall my stay was good. I would return.
I recently stayed here for multiple nights and would 100% recommend this hotel to family and friends. The general manager Anup was friendly and always around and available to assist guests. The front desk staff was kind and knowledgeable and helped me with directions into the city. Free, efficient shuttle transportation to and from LaGuardia, easy train ride into the city, clean, and an overall very pleasant experience.
Really nice hotel. I was a little concerned about the neighborhood when I got off the train but it is very safe. The staff is very friendly. At least the two guys I interacted with were. Very clean. There were some very loud guests but thats just par the course these days, I think!
Parking is a misnomer, the hotel has a scant 10-12 spots behind it . This was not made clear when we called, the clerk at the time who also mentioned we could park on the street. Good in theory, but none were available on a Saturday afternoon at 4/5 pm leading up to a Mets game. We spent 1 1/2 hrs driving through the neighborhood looking for a spot and were about to give up when we tried the hotel lot 1 more time. We would not have felt safe parking in the surrounding neighborhood.Breakfast in the lower lobby is fine with the exception that our door faced that area and a guest decided to blare the tv on Sunday morning at 6:20am. We were already up due to very thin walls and a baby screaming at 6 am. The train rumble can be heard but us muted and not a problem.Room was quite clean, towels were softer than most hotels and the bed was comfortable after a long trip but we wouldnt stay here again. The neighborhood is a little rough and no where to go in terms of places to eat. Wish it had been nicer.
The evening shuttle bus driver had a very bad attitude and was very, very rude in the way that he spoke as well as his demeanor. The morning shuttle bus driver was a lot nicer. I wish I would have gotten names. If I were to base my impression of the hotel on the actions of the first representative of the hotel (shuttle bus driver) I would not have stayed at the hotel. Once I got to the hotel everyone there was nice and very helpful. The hotel is very nice as well.
Clean and comfortable room! Just what I needed after a 13 hour international flight. I couldnt get my connecting flight home because it was cancelled. I made the right choice although the circumstances were not ideal. Courteous staff and the breakfast was great! Would stay here again. It was a little pricey but worth it. 5 stars easily!
Had we not booked this room through Priceline and been locked into the reservation, we would have left after the first night. We only received wash clothes 1 of the 4 nights we stayed, even after repeatedly asking for them. We had to shower with hand towels the other 3 nights. Not only did we have to listen to the train rolling through all night but also slamming of doors by hotel staff. The AC in the room doesnt go below 73. After a rough night of sleep because of the noise and lack of cold air, we went down for breakfast. It was total chaos with no line or order at all. When we finally got food and took it back to the room (since there was no where to sit downstairs) we found that most of it was stale and flavorless. Good luck finding staff to help you with any issues if you dont speak Spanish.
Husband and I enjoyed staying at this hotel very much. Front desk lady was very helpful with all my questions! They let us check in early too since our flight was an early one. Also was great to enjoy their breakfast every morning before heading out to the city (the subway was close).
I stayed here in October 2015, this hotel is brand new, rooms were nice and comfortable, front desk staff was very friendly, airport shuttle was included, not far from the airport. Even though this hotel is right next to subway. The noise was not bad at all, very convenient. The only thing I didnt really like was the breakfast. I wish that there was more choices. But other than that I would recommend! I have already booked my room again for October 2016.
Three star hotel deserving of four stars if not for the neighborhood location its in. At first driving to the hotel one would think..ohoh..did I just book a hotel in not the most trendiest locations in Queens? But then we made it to the hotel...WOW... This hotel once inside is like stepping into a four star rated hotel in Manhattan. The decor is very modernized and when stepping into the guest room.. Its not that big but very quaint. The bathroom was spotless and the walk-in shower...you have to see for yourself but you wouldnt mind if it was a shower you had at home. The overall guest room and hotel is very clean and management makes sure that youre being taken care of. Staff was pleasant and even after my wife and I checked into our room the guest services manager stopped by to check if our room was clean and if there was anything that we needed to insure our stay will be pleasant while here. We would definitely choose this hotel again if ever in the NY area.P.S. Very limited parking so think other means of transport. We used Lyft and Mass Transit is walking distance from hotel.
Room was ok, Nice bed and great shower.Hotel staff friendly and helpful. No bar or restaurant, hotel is situated 50 mins out of Manhattan by rail which is so close to the hotel you can lean out of the Window and touch it (reminds me of The Blues Brothers)Full continental breakfast consisted of eggs, some sort of sausage and skinny bacon. It was cheap and cheerful for the price. There was a good Mexican diner 50mtrs along the road.
We checked in late at night and the person that checked us in was friendly and helpful. We were unable to control the air conditioning in the room and had to ask the front desk to make an adjustment. They came to our room and adjusted the temperature but it was still hot, stick, and uncomfortable all night. The bathroom and room itself were not the cleanest. We did use the shuttle service and the driver was very friendly.
The staff was professional and attentive! The facility was clean and the decor was chique...had a New York flair! Also, internet was free and the bed was comfortable. The complementary breakfast offered a lot of choices, to include bacon, sausages, and eggs and waffles. The brand of coffee was not the best but the juices and myriad of teas made up for it. Excellent 10-day stay!!
Staff is great hotel is brand new very clean breakfast is really good the airport shuttle made it super easy the train is right there. Just make sure you get help working the heat... I couldnt figure it out. Its a wall thermostat. Also ask for a room in the back (away from the train) idk if the front is noisy but the back room was quiet.
Overall satisfied except the breakfast. Breakfast were gone way before closes. Varieties of food were not too many to choose. But very close to Subway Station, Airport and only two stops to Flushing. Free airport shuttle which is very convenient. Make sure hot water is warm enough before you check in.
I had a very poor experience. They gave us a room underground, which did help with the subway noise, but there were so many other sources of noise that it didnt matter. Our next door neighbours werent being loud, but the walls were so paper thin that we could hear everything they were saying. The ventilation system and plumbing system were extremely noisy the entire night - way beyond reasonable. To top it all off, there was an insect problem in the bathroom.
My room was facing the street which I was worried that noise from the street and or subway would be a problem but it wasnt at all. The room was clean and nicely furnished. Very comfortable bed and nice bathroom. There was a fridge and microwave also in the room which was nice. The staff was friendly and check in and out was fast and easy.
Best part of hotel is breakfast. I did not like the following: Limited parking, some employees came off as rude/prejudice. Was treated differently than other guests. Noise level was surreal, could not use conference room. Asked for a extra blanket staff never brought it, I asked for face clothes and did not receive. Manger approached me stating Ive been waiting on you as I was trying to take my service animal outside. Held me in lobby speaking very loud and insulted a co-worker by stopping in mid sentence and saying you speak English right, cause I dont want to explain this again. There was no need to ask the question as the person in question should not have been addressed. A few other things were not good: computer barely worked,ATM should let you take out more than$200 for the $4 fee.
We booked several months in advance but when we arrived to check in we were told the hotel was closed due to an issue. We were told we would be staying at the “sister property” across the street. The hotel across the street was disgusting with used condoms on the sidewalk out front, dirty sheets, stains on the carpets in the rooms, urine smell and the list goes on. When we spoke with the front desk person at the Best Western to express our concerns we were told this was the only option and while this hotel didn’t stand up to the Best Western standards there were no other options. This hotel is in a very shady area of New York regardless
Was hesisitant about staying here due to the train complaint reviews. My stay was extremely pleasant. CHECK IN took less than 5 mins. The manager ANUP was beyond friendly and awesome with CUSTOMER SERVICE. He was aware of my concerns about the possible train noise. I have a NEWBORN and wanted a quiet room. Before checking IN my husband, baby and I in he walked us to the room and stayed with us for more than 5 mins to watch and listen as the trains (MULTIPLE AT ONCE) Passed by. Visually with your curtains drawn back YES you can see them. Sound wise we totally forgot the tracks were there. The bed was comfortable, room clean and cute decor. Shuttle service ran on time. We missed it due to my need for an extra 15 mins of sleep. But our LYFT ride came in 5mins of request and we arrived at LGA airport within 7 mins. At 715am a cost of $9. The breakfast area was Clean and had a great selection of food. Appearance of hotel from desk to room 514 SUPER CLEAN. IF I shall fly back into NY and LGA is my airport I will definitely RETURN
I highly recommend this place. Heres why. You can use this as an inexpensive way to come to New York. You will be near Public transportation and the free shuttle to LaGuardia Airport. From here you can also take a cab to visit Manhattan and be near the airport. The management and leadership is excellent. Theres no place to eat in the hotel but the neighborhood eatery s are ALL very good. I ate from PM Pollo. I paid $13.61 for food that could feed four people. Overall I am so happy and proud of this small five floor hotel. The decorations and the art work is very beautiful. The beds and bathrooms are very clean. I will be back! They did an excellent job n caring for me. P..S. Please tip well they deserve it!! Happy holidays!
Hotel room was not properly equipped for the number of guests staying in the room. Reservation was for 4 people and there were only 3 towels and no floor mat for the shower. The seal on the shower was broken causing water to get on the floor and cause someone to almost fall. The A/C did not properly cook our room, it was set to 68 and the room never got below 75. There was also no hand soap to use after using the bathroom. However the beds were comfy and the room was quiet despite the subway running right next to it.
We had a group of 10 people who thanks to American Airlines and bad weather ended up stranded at La Guardia. Hotel staff were helpful in getting us picked up at the airport on the free shuttle and getting us back there on time in the morning. A good choice for an enforced layover. Near subway so not stranded out in the middle of nowhere. Clean, comfortable and safe. Be great for Mets and Open Tennis access too. A satisfyingly and somewhat surprisingly pleasant stay under the circumstances. We were glad we found this place!
Modern decor. Full Breakfast. Very nice room. Close to the MTA. Free transport from/to LGA.The staff was very friendly. The guests, not so much. Amen checked us in with a smile even though it was midnight, and gave us a good room on the 3rd floor. Although the 3rd floor is the same level as the train that passes every 1/2 hour at night (I was VERY concerned) we slept soundly without interruption. The beds were comfortable, rooms very clean, and everything is very modern. Basic amenities with no extras. Worth it for the low price!
I checked into this hotel with my family on 12/10/15. In the beginning of my stay, my experience was going good. The hotel was clean and the room was comfortable. The following day, I called to the front desk more items needed. I was told someone would be up shortly to deliver the items. After 20 minutes of no one coming to my room with the items, I called back to the front desk to request the items again. It came time to leave and the items were never delivered. As I was checking out, the front desk clerk asked if I had received the items I requested. I let her know they had not and that was pretty much it. No apology or anything was offered for the inconvenience. After we left, a clerk contacted me about a missing iron from our room. I let them know that not only had we not taken an iron but none of the requested items had been delivered to my room. I was then told that they had video of the items being delivered to our room and that my credit card would be charged for the missing iron. I let the clerk know that absolutely did not happen and no one ever delivered anything to my room. I even let them know I was coming back to the hotel to see this video they had of someone delivering the items. I went back to the hotel and it was a different story. The front desk clerk let me know the iron had been found but I had to go back to the hotel to find that out. Again, there was no apology or anything offered for the false accusations and stress of the situation. I have never had an experience like this at any hotels I have ever stayed. Im still in shock about the whole ordeal. I would stay clear away from this particular Best Western establishment.
The hotel is close to transit and it is fairly noisy, but that is not the worst part. Breakfast is a complete disaster and you never know what they will be out of regardless of what time it is. For 2 days they were out of peanut butter and cream cheese and the fruit is almost never refilled, but if you like fake eggs and barely cooked floppy bacon maybe this a spot for you
Awful experience on Feb 20 2018. Checked into a room that clearly had not had the bed sheets changed, hair all over the sheets and pillows. When we complained they moved us to a 1st floor room that smelled like horrible smoke. I complained another time and finally given a room with 2 beds that was certainly clean, but at this point after moving twice we were unnerved. The subway next to the building is loud and you can hear it run every 5 min, it’s annoying as hell, but the sound can be drowned out with the earplugs they provide.Needless to say we had a bad experience,l at this hotel and won’t be back to this property.
I really enjoyed staying at this nice and comfortable hotel. The decor was lovely and everything was just exceptional. The only thing I would have liked better is if the surrounding buildings looked just as nice. All in all this hotel was a favorite. Best Western is always one of my top options to stay at.
Nice hotel, clean and staff is polite and knowledgeable about area. Not very far from LaGuardia airport and they have a shuttle from 5am til about midnight. Con: Subway elevated train runs right in front of hotel, every 15 minutes, so there is always that noise, but not really loud unless you are standing outside. There are only like 10 spots to park in back of hotel and street parking is impossible. Subway platform is about a block away and the 7 runs into Manhatten will get you there in about 30 minutes ( trust me, its quicker than driving). Close by Mets stadium and BJK national tennis center home of the US Open.
I could see how for those who are not from NYC the neighborhood can be a little off putting. But if you could get past that then you would see that this is like staying at luxury hotel in the city for half the cost. The hotel is super clean, safe, modern, and has everything that one needs to come back to after a long day of the hustle and bustle of the city. Also, The staff was amazing and very helpful.
Lowest price...You get what you pay for. Elevated subway train in the front, loud neighbors behind small parking lot in back (the double paned glass insulation only does so much) guest voices from eating area carry throughout hotel and easily into your room (No amount of glass can stop that). Dont plan on sleeping much, especially past 6:30am.Additional $50 charge added at check-in. Held for a week before being refunded. Staff claims is common for most hotels. B.S. Ive stayed in most mid to high-end hotels around JFK and LGA and the Best Western family of hotels is the only one to charge this additional hold. Staff was curt and defensive when I argued the $50 charge, but once youre in their lobby they know your options are limited.Hotel shuttle only runs once per hour. Most airport hotels run twice per hour, minimum.Neighborhood is very rough and dirty.Do yourself a favor...avoid the headache of Best Western...spend a few extra bucks and stay somewhere else.
We stayed at this hotel and it was really a great experience.. The staff was very helpful with directions around the city, and willing to print out directions if you needed it. Very clean hotel, this was my 11 year old sons first time to New York and it was great. Anytime we visit New York this is where we will stay, thank you to all the staff at Best Western Plus.
Dont let the location detour you from staying here, this little gem is all upgraded with beautiful rooms, close to the train for quick easy access to many of NYs attractions, it has double layer sound proof glass that keeps out all road and train noise. Our bed was plush, one of the best weve slept on while traveling and the continental breakfast was great. The staff was super sweet, professional and we would recommend this place to anyone looking for an inexpensive alternative to NYCs Manhattan options. Although parking it limited, it was well worth it!!
Great hotel, clean, comfortable and modern rooms. Parking is a big plus... 7 train 111th street station is about a block away, and 7 train runs 24 hours, you do not hear the train first few hours but once you get used to you start hearing 7 train running every 5 to 20 minutes depending on the hour and the day however you get used to it and it is ok not a big deal. Overall everything is perfect about this hotel in its class and its price point.....
Stayed at the Best Western Plus for Labor Day weekend as we were going to the US Open! The location is amazing, the hotel lobby very nice, the room was quite big, clean and tastefully decorated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is my hotel to stay when going to the US Open!
Hotel is located minutes away from 7 train stop, 30 min from manhattan. Airport shuttle was included with great service. Front desk service was as expected. Room was situated on 5th floor. The space was a little cramped but well decorated. Room recieved very minimal noise from adjacent train tracks. Continental breakfast was included.I would stay again.
The hotel is newer inside and appears really nice. There is little parking available and it is first come, first serve. The 7 train is right outside which is convenient but noisy. My window was also dripping water. I know that all sounds bad but everything else was fantastic. Very close to the airport.
This hotel is located in a shady neighborhood will not advice guest to walk by themself in this área. That being said, is close to the city by Subway (metro) at about 20 minutes subway ride. The service in this hotel is not the best. Parking is small and the entrance is always blocked by the Hotel van Make sure that your room is clean every day, otherwise they will not do it, that you get enough towels and that the shower is in working conditions.Found bed bugs, and the receptionist refused to give me a refund. I had to call my credit card company to get it. Left the place in a New York Minute.
I think one of the most important aspects of staying comfortably in a hotel, is friendly and helpful staff. In this hotel, staff is neither helpful, nor friendly. Theres no parking, only on the street...if you can find it that is. Rooms are tiny and the experience leaves a lot to be desired.
Great location if your visiting citi field. Subway stop is just a block away to get to anywhere! Easy 40 min ride to time square! Great neighbourhood with lots of home cooked mexican food places. Modern design, clean rooms and a comfortable bed. A few issues with room cleaning service and getting enough towels etc but not a huge problem. We would stay here again.
Best western located in Queens NY neighbourhood. It was convenient short walk to metro which was great plus. Corner stores and small grocery was in close proximity. Our room was decent size with 2 queen beds. Metro rail runs right next to the rooms. There will be light noise coming through the window everytime a train goes by. It was not a major problem. Breakfast was mediocre. Eggs tasted like plastic and wierd texture. Nothing much to eat than toast and pastries. If travelling by metro is your choice of transpirtation, this hotel is a good choice.
My second time in New York and second time in the hotel because it was close to the train station and the clean rooms but I soon stepped in in the lobby I noticed something odd, some lady behind a desk and the sign Core and a security guard in the corner of the hotel I requested a room in the back and I was hoping get something in the third or fourth floor instead I get a room in the very first floor, everything was normal but in the night we couldnt sleep good do to a noise of people talking in the front of the building and then the next day when we were leaving the hotel to get the train we perceived a strong marijuana odor between the lobby door and the outside door, I thought to myself that was something going on and then when we were checking out i saw homeless people getting in the hotel and been checking theirs bags by the security guard thats when I approached the desk of the lady and I realized the hotel was a shelter and I didnt paid almost three hundred dollars to stay in a shelter I was so dissapointed and I felt ours own security was put in jeopardy over there. I docked four star for that and also the lady of the breakfast need to be trained better, the coffee pot was empty, the hot stuff empty and the garbage can was full and also not very polite when you ask for something
We stayed here just for one night before our connecting flight the next day. The staff was incredibly helpful and everything was great! My only complaint is that the water pressure in our shower was pretty low but if thats the only complaint I have, its a pretty solid place, right?
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! Horrible - Horrible - Horrible experience. They do not tell you that the hotel is located directly under the subway tracks and that you will NOT be able to sleep all night!!! This should be on the front page of their website and they should tell everyone before accepting reservations. I have tried to reach the manager and she does not return my calls!! I paid almost $400 to be woken up every few minutes byt he subway that feels like it is going right through your room. i gave them 1 star because the system will not allow me to give them no stars. i have been calling them and they do not even take my calls.
Ok so I arrived kind of late with a skateboard and the security guard was throwing major bad vibes at me. The check in dude seemed really rushed like he had somewhere better to be. In the morning they were our of coffee and eggs when I went to go get breakfast. Not only that but the breakfast area is pure chaos. No flow of traffic just a bunch of people fighting there way to get whatever they want to get. I stayed a second night for price and convenience and the shower was barely even hot and it was real loud trying to sleep. So much disappointment.
The rooms are not bad but no convenient places to eat nearby and the train rolling by every few minutes is a little obnoxious. Great shuttle service and a less than 10 minute walk to watch the Mets play. Get a room in the back as the train runs 10 ft in front of the building on a raised platform.
Great hotel for the price. Has recently been renovated and the rooms are quite nice; breakfast was good as well. Only downfall it is right next to a subway track, so sometimes it was a little noisy but the train didn’t run too late so you were still about to get good rest. Would definitely stay here again.
Arriving at LGA at 10:30pm I expected to have shuttle service. They hung up on me after I told them I was waiting. Finally hired a car for $30 at midnight. The trains roar through irregularly but endlessly and in our below ground room at C-01 it was impossible to sleep ALL NIGHT LONG. The toilet was not seated properly and it rocked in a noisy fashion also. The breakfast was ok, the bill was correct but I will really not be going back.
Very average best western hotel, if youve ever been. Parking is very limited, and very tight. Its a very convienient location, because it is right by the subway station, but also inconvenient because of the noise from the subway. Also next to an airport, but you cant really hear the noise from planes. Its in a pretty bad area, but there is security, I think, for the hotel.
Please dont give these people your business, particularly if you are military. We booked a room early in the summer, but had to make adjustments due to a change in my husbands military leave. They were extremely uncooperative and rude. I truly believe that the owners of this establishment were happy to benefit from our misfortune. We will never stay at a Best Western again.
Best Western Plus LaGuardia Airport Hotel QueensJun 7 - Jun 8We stayed here last night. Our room was too hot. I complained and they attempted, but failed, to fix it. I asked about switching rooms. It was midnight already by now. The room i checked was right by the train. We suffered through our hot room instead. We werent happy. The breakfast was good.
We LOVED our stay at this hotel. We planned for this family vacation for a very long time and after days spent on the internet researching for options with good value, location, and overall cleanliness I decided to book this hotel about 3 months in advance.I was scared at first bc it was a decision made solely based on what I found on the internet and it seemed “too good to be true” ,but it was exactly everything we needed it to be.I needed somewhere out off Manhattan so I wouldn’t break the bank in a room just to sleep and recharge for the next day,but needed it near a train station for easy commuting to the places we were planning to visit. So I went back in time (about 14 years from last visit) remembering the areas I was familiar with,I took a subway map and using my Google maps to estimate times and organize our itinerary. This hotel is hands down the best decision I made for our family. The location is great! It’s like 15 min drive from LGA but the best thing is that it includes transportation to/from this airport and the hotel! The drivers were very prompt and polite, van is super spacious and comfortable.Even though the hotel is far from Manhattan, the nearest subway stop is just a 5 min walk away.(111th St of train 7) connecting you with anywhere else you need to go.The tracks were literally outside my windows and was worried about the noise level but I was happily surprised to know that all windows are sound proof and none of us in the room were ever awakened by the train. The neighborhood is typical Queens, rich in diversity of cultures which will offer different types of food and stores. There is no laundry facilities at the hotel but that’s not a problem bc I counted 3 laundrymats in one block radius.Check in was a breeze! Christian was at the front desk when we arrived and he was super nice and polite. He even told me that there was a room ready if we wanted to take our stuff up early since we arrived around 11:30-am and check in wasn’t until 3pm!So yay for that and thanks to Christian! The room was super clean.Beds were very clean and comfortable.Great working microwave and refrigerator.Housekeepers were always nice and courteous.Breakfast is fantastic!! Sooo many choices! Josefine was always great making sure everything was full and area was clean. Even though it can get a little tight I think they did great with the space given. The decor and overall look is very nice and well kept. LOVED the refreshing lemon and cucumber water by the elevator, my daughters and I looked forward to it at the end of an exhausting day out on the city. If I ever have the chance to visit nyc again I will definitely stay there again. Highly recommend.Visited June17-22/2018Family of 5 from Tampa, Florida
LGAH is not the greatest location to get into the city, but it close to the 7 train which made my travels easier as I only had to walk half a block. The neighborhood is great during the day, however at night it feels uneasy; My stay was brief and also please the staff is great, clean rooms, the front desk is was helpful with a great.
This hotel is about a ten minute walk to citi field. We got there around 4pm. There are only about ten parking spaces, but a few were still available. And free parking these days isnt always easy to find! The hotel was clean. The beds were comfortable. We tried to take showers around 5pm but the water was cold. When we got back after the game around 11pm it was hot again. It is next to a train so that was noisy but to be expected. We slept fine anyway. Went down to breakfast at 8:30. They were out of scrambled eggs. I waited around to see if they were bringing more eggs out but it didnt seem like they were. I just had yogurt. Not a terrible place to stay if you are just passing through or if you need a place to stay to go to a game but dont expect anything too fancy.
The hotel is in the slum of New York but The hotel room was very nice! We had 4 people in the room. I Went to take a shower and there was 3 towels and no wash clothes. NO HOT WATER AT ALL! Complained to the front desk about it and they said there was nothing they could do about it.. not very satisfied.
The experience at the hotel was wonderful and they really treat you like family however, I rated 2 stars because every single night theres people smoking weed either in the front entrance or at the back in the parking lot. Im not against weed or anything but if I wanna stay at a hotel for a vacation and to relax and just have fun, I dont really wanna get hot box from all that odor of weed.
Free Parking hahaha what a joke. They have about 10 spots, always blocked in by the shuttle bus- good luck finding street parking! Took me an hour to find parking.Room was nice and clean though. King room is a little tight but not bad. Lots of restaurants nearby (city/street food). We walked down the street and were fine. Walked to Citi Field and back. Close to subway 7 train.
Where do I even begin with my experience with this hotel. I booked through travelocity, I booked a four night stay at this hotel two months in advance. I called out of curtesy one week before and the receptionist made a note that I would be checking in after midnight so they could be informed. We show up that night with two small children just to be told that they had no room available, the manager didn’t take the time no inform me directly or Travelocity about the issues (of course not they had already got paid). I was informed by the receptionist that they had plumbing issue on that floor for two weeks, mind you that I called the week before and nothing was said. So I am told the manager made reservations at a another hotel, I thought ok, cool what other western plus? People they reserved across the street with a hotel that was not even close to what western plus appears/standards (take the time and google map the location, the hotel across the street you can’t even find online family owned maybe) we actually considered it due to being midnight and the kids were tired but my husband walked in and walked out immediately that’s how bad it was in the lobby he was not even bothering with the rooms. Long story short, we booked with another hotel (paid out of pocket) and for 6 loooong days every day myself and Travelocity called and left voicemails for the manager, why we didn’t get a call back GUILT maybe, finally I spoke with him yes he apologized, but he refunded 3 nights ONLY tell me why one night fee was a penalty if WE DIDNT CaNCEL THEY HAd nooooo roomS !!! This is not a recommended hotel unreliable, unprofessional, and inconsiderate of folks with good intentions for a relaxing vacation, this literally ruined the first few days due to booking another hotel and paying out of pocket because of the late response. Please reconsider this place! Oh and google map this location the hotel is new but it’s its not in the safest area, because online it’s just the building which looks nice and new but driving in was concerning.
We had a reservation here but when we arrived we were told the hotel was closed due to a plumbing issue and guests were being transferred to their sister property across the street at the Carona Hotel which was equivalent... let’s just say the Carona hotel is not equivalent, rather extremely disgusting, with used condoms out front and by the hour guests inside the hotel. We wound up booking a different hotel after our complaints to both the hotel itself and Best Western Corporate went no where. We were denied a refund by this hotel and later learnt that this hotel was being used as an Emergency Shelter. I have always stayed at Best Westerns, because of this I never will ever again. This is also a very sketchy area with very sketchy people, the photos online don’t show the real thing, don’t waste your money and don’t stay here.
No cable for the 5 nights I stayed...I reported it every single day. The night before I left they said they would reimburse me because of the problem...they didnt. They cleaned my room two of the five nights.I got locked out of my room for about an hour...the front desk couldnt figure out the problem...some guy that worked there essentially broke into my room for me.Barely any of the staff spoke English. The neighborhood i found out later from an Uber driver is called Little Columbia.Zero chance that I would ever stay in this hotel again.I only stayed there because it was close to Citi Field.Never again....
Good place to stay if you in town for couple days. Close to jfk(30min) and lga(10min) . They also have free shuttle from lga. Centre of manhattan is about 30 min on single train. Breakfast was very good. Houskipping polite and fast. They do they job good. Only one thing is not so great... on the ground subway running right next to your room. A bit noise, but if you tired of visiting city you will be just fine
Someone needs to reprimand or write the man with the long black beard and hair that works at the front desk in the evening. His personality and enthusiasm for his line of work does not belong where he is. I asked him for change because I needed to pay a cab. his response was I would need to go to the gas station down the street to make change. Now, understand that I am not from the area. I live in Louisiana. The wonderful ladies that cleaned our room helped us with any questions or concerns that we had.
I like the room . It is really good.I would recommend this hotel for one night if you just have a flight. The nieghborhood is very darty also this hotel is located very close to trainIn description of this hotel is free parking the have for just 5 cars .. and you will not find any public parking.I will never ever come again here.
Stay at your own risk...So the first room we checked into was still dirty. We went back to the desk and he gave a key to another room in which was occupied and we walked on another guest. Awkward for both of us. We went back to the desk again and went to another room that was not in great shape (mold in shower, etc.) but was at least suitable to spend the night in. Not the best first impression. Will not stay there again.
Conveniently located one block from 7 line into Manhattan. Although right next to tracks, barely any noise. Latino neighborhood with good food, market, laundry, and pharmacy all within one block. Great base for savvy, budget minded travelers (you save about $100/day for riding the subway an extra 20 minutes each way!)
Was a little taken a back at the neighborhood, however once I settled in and actually walked to dinner it was very nice. Take the advice of the hotel staff on restaurant suggestions as on the night I was there they did not stear me wrong. It turned out to be a great experience once I got over the initial trepidation.
Very lousy service : stayed with my wife Evgenia Lyakhova night June 1, 2016. Asked Christian at desk for extra blanket and never got. No receipts - our printer failed , promised to send it by email and still didnt got it. And what is especially nasty - the Hotel still keeps our security deposit $ 50. Called the desk from Independence and the answer was in 5 working days. Today is June 17. I guess we need to take more serious actions
I stayed there in the month of January & I checked in with a young lady named Stephanie. She was very helpful as well as the overnight lady named linda who really did her best at assisting me. Unfortanetely the room I stayed in had BED BUGS & then they decided to switch my room to a room with NO HEAT. What was disappointing was at checkout when I explained to another lady at the front desk named Natalia (I think that was her name, she had blonde hair), who then told me she couldnt help me & that I can speak to the manager but there was no manager on duty. I asked for some type of compensation being that I had to pay 200$ for a horrible stay, but once again she said she couldnt help me & that it was up to the manager. What frustrated me was the fact that she didnt even apologize for the unpleasant stay. So no I do not recommend anyone to stay there nor will I come back.
The lady in the breakfast area is VERY, VERY RUDE and NASTY! She pretends she doesnt understand English but, she clearly does when the manager was speaking to her. She uses it as a crutch, .......how convenient. She ALWAYS closes up EARLY. Numerous guests were complaining. Other than that, very nice place!
Got blocked in for 15 minutes by some idiot, at their parking lot! You must arrive super early, and pray you get any spots, since the lot is super small, or fend for yourself on street parking. The hotel rooms are nice but super tight to get around in. The train shakes the room and the bathroom when sitting down, and is noisy if staying on lower levels!
When we arrived, the security guard told us the hotel is no longer in operation. The front desk staff wouldn’t tell us what was going on, only that they aren’t allowed to say what the building is now, other than that the building is no longer a hotel. After some googling, we figured out that it’s now a homeless shelter. I don’t know why they are still listing it as an open hotel. Almost ended up stranded with no place to stay at 1 AM as a result.
Line 7 train passes just in front of the hotel...No hot water in showerNot even a complimentary water bottleReceptionist was alot unprofessional and lazySHUTTLE BUS TO AND FROM LGA RUNS ONLY ON THE HOURI had to wait 50 minutes at the airport for the shuttle to arrive
I would give this hotel a zero star if there is one. I would not recommend staying at this hotel or any of its sister hotels. The management staff is horrible right up to the district regional manager Barbara M. I have never encoutered a hotel not willing to accomodate their guest. I will never give my hard earned money to a BEST WESTERN HOTEL AGAIN.
Modern Rooms and Dining Area interior Design, yummy All you can eat Breakfeast, located near the bridge and in the center of the industrial area of Queens, Area is not suitable for jogging or walks but rooms Walls are insulated so that you cannot hear noise and can not see sunlight thru thick curtains

2018-12-02The hotel was great. Complimentary breakfast in the morning. The room was nice and clean big enough for 2 people. I liked that its close to the train so you dont have to walk far especially if you are sightseeing in other areas. You could hear the train a little bit, but not so much that its a bother. They also had a lot of security Im assuming because of the surrounding area. All in all I was very pleased.

2018-07-28Very nice hotel overall. Fairly modern and furnishings are nice. Very very very close to the Subway though. If you want extra quiet this is not the place for you. The rooms are not loud by any means but you can hear the train and it does vibrate if you are close to the front side of the hotel. Parking is horrible. There are only about 10 spots and off street parking is hit-or-miss, mostly miss. I left a not for extra towels and they didnt leave any. Not sure why. 4 stars out of 5.

2018-05-24The hotel is very nice, clean and spacious, but the surrounding areas are horrible. Feels very unsafe. Its very close to the city field stadium, and the loud speaker there sounded until midnight and we couldnt fell sleep, and we needed some sleep since were catching an earlier morning flight home. The shuttle bus to the airport is free and is very good, leaves every hour on the hour. So once you past the neighborhood, and inside the hotel, and stays there, you will feel good. I wouldnt walk a bit outside at night.

2017-05-20Hotel is close to subway station which is convenient to travel around. The tracks are literally right next to hotel but its not really loud. Rooms are nice and clean. Noticed that some hand towels were missing and so I called the front desk. The towels were quickly sent to our room. Very pleased with our stay.

2018-07-23I was very impressed with my stay here. I arrived with a lot of camera gear because I was in town working on a project. Management asked if they could help me out by offering their shuttle. They did not have to even take interest in why I had the gear. They went a step further and asked if they could help. This was a great first impression. The hotel is clean, friendly, and the rooms are perfect for the price range in which you pay. The 7 train is a block away and although its about a 35-45 min commute into the city its not that big of a deal. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit NYC.

2017-09-25Staff is very friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Location was rough and literally right next to the subway line - our 3rd floor room was level with the elevated trains; but it was not as loud inside - we slept fine. Great walking distance to the NY Hall of Science. Parking at the hotel is a challenge, they only have 10 spots and when full the drive around the building is tricky. Breakfast isnt much. But for the price and service, it was a good stay.

2018-06-01I had a great time at the Best Western, but there were some pros and some ponds. The pro the room was beautiful small but very nice the bed was incredibly comfortable and the pillows were fantastic I actually want to buy some of those, the bathroom was a little cramped but it was still a really nice bathroom. The breakfast was really good but there were some negatives which brings me to the cons. First, I have to say it took a while for the coffee to get refilled but when they did it was delicious. The eggs were very runny, and the sausage was obviously microwaved because it was overcooked on the edges, and the bacon was rather greasy but its bacon its supposed to be greasy so I guess I cant criticize there. The area in which you needed to move around to get the breakfast items was extremely cramped, but I did hear someone say that they were going to be renovating and making it larger. The bagels and the pastries were fantastic! And I liked that they had fruit and yogurt cereal and oatmeal available and of course the Best Western waffles which is pretty much located in every single Best Western. I appreciate what they were going with with the eggs but they didnt really execute it very well. I would definitely stay here again though. One word of warning... There are only 12 parking spaces in the back of the hotel and theyre rather small parking spaces if you get stuck along the wall, get there early write a check in so that you can get a parking space because if you dont you have to try to find a spot on the street and thats not fun.

2017-10-15The hotel itself was very nice. The lobby and eating area were clean and inviting looking. Our room was nice also, although a little on the small side. The bathroom was clean and a good size; LOVED the large shower! Water pressure was on the low side. I chose this hotel because it said it was close to the airport and subway, and it was a good price. I didnt realize the subway was almost directly above us, but you couldnt hear it inside the hotel and rooms. I was a little nervous about the neighborhood this hotel was in. It seemed somewhat rundown, or maybe rough. It was almost like the hotel had been dropped down in it! Hopefully the neighborhood is going to improve around the hotel. Being that this was my first visit to NYC, I was nervous about this neighborhood.

2017-05-09Very nice and cozy hotel situated less than a block from the 7 subway stop. The lobby was pretty and smelled great. The room was clean, modern and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was included and was more than adequate. There are a couple of very good, authentic Mexican restaurants within walking distance. It was a very good value for the amenities and location. Id be happy to stay again or recommend to others.
