Bethpage State Park in other cities:
I do not know where to begin. This is ordinary mens dream golf course. As you seen on TV, this place is grandiose, and challenges every skill of golf; driving, long iron, accurate scoring iron, bunker shot, and how to deal with uneven lie.Black course is worth every penny. It will be challenging, but you will end your round as a happy man.
Nice park! I went for a nice bike ride and then a nice hike.It is great if you like Ponderosa Pine Trees, they are all throughout the park, along with lots of other trees. Its a nice wildlife oasis in the middle of congested Nassau County which barely has any nature.Majority of this park is golf courses though.
The attractive, spacious, well-maintained recreational area is publicly accessible. But it is primarily primed for the pleasures of golfing. You need a registory pass, if I am correct, to play golf on the fields. My realization there is another section of the park more suited for picnic, none-golfing recreation. That is driving not walking distance apart, I did not go there yet. It may be helpful to have signage near the entrance conveying the distinctions between the park areas.
(Does not include Golf area)All trails West of the picnic area and the back of the picnic area are littered with broken glass everywhere. When entering the park they have No Dog signs, but Responsible Dog owners ARE allowed to walk their dogs on the trails.Everything else is good, you got the picnic area, basketball, softball, playground all close to the bathrooms.
My kids always love the playground. We have been there about 6 times the last few years. We biked in from different entrances a few times, played in the playground, played balls there etc. A few times we hiked different trails witt cub scouts. There are still a lot of trails we didnt explore yet.
A great place right in my backyard that I dont take advantage of. I wish that they would focus more attention on amenities besides golf. They should make more environmental focused changes, and get people exploring nature. Its always golf, golf, golf.. how about nature, trees, and conservation?!
So I visited while out cycling to hit the paved bike path today. People stink, selfish folks not keeping to one side or the other, riding or walking 2-3 wide causing dangerous scenarios for cyclists... the patch work on the pavement is awful (especially for road cycles- not too bad for cycle cross, gravel, hybrid or mountain bikes but road cycling isnt really enjoyable).
Beautiful venue but sadly critically understaffed or mismanaged resulting in entrees that were served. . . COLD. Γs in everyone seated at my table and surrounding tables - I asked. We were seated when the entrees were served. I had been to events here previously and it was great but terribly disappointed on this latest occasion. Servers were attentive and gracious. I told a server to alert the kitchen. No response from kitchen/management.
I have only done the bike way which is great! There are parts of the trails you can bike as well but pay attention because some are marked as hike only and some are OK for bikes but barely wide enough for a bike. There are lots of hills both on the paved bike way and the trails. My only complaint is a lack of restrooms or even water stations. Its a really long bike way so there should be more than one at each end. So if you plan to be out a while bring extra water and a napkin to go behind a tree if things get desperate.
The driving range employee is an absolute joke. The sign says no tees allowed but then hands over one to a kid. Then I went to ask for one and said they arenβt allowed. What a hypocrite. I called him/they out for his actions and he lied and said the kid brought it him self. As least if you going to lie donβt make it this obvious. You might get someone else but you ainβt getting me. Do not recommend as you probably can already tell.
Took a ride there to check out the driving range . Beautiful setting and deep range (200+ yd) to get in some practice . Currently closed on Mondays for maintenance and private lessons . Located off the Black course , its a nice way to spend some time , the club house is walking distance if you want some food or refreshments . Located near the village of Farmingdale , with a lot of variety in restaurants , local charm , the railroad , and SUNY Farmingdale ... its easy to get to .Other areas include the state park which have ball fields , picnic areas , theres a polo field , and many other amenities .
What a great place to bring the family together and have a wonderful picnic and then take a walk in the woods or just relax. Very clean and safe. It is connected to the green trail and also a great place to bring the bikes for a day if safe riding through the nature trail.
DEER SIGHTING on purple trail! Yes, be careful-I had 2 deer sightings recently-one on 9/5 and one on 9/13, both on the purple trail but definitely 2 different deer because the second one was much smaller. I will avoid the entire area near those sightings until winter. Anyway, the park is great. Large trail system and good trail maintenance with pretty nice scenery.
Great courses, well kept, friendly staffs.. you canβt beat 5 different courses in one place. The Black is beautiful year round.Only have 3 issues:1. Overcrowded, especially on the weekend.2. People not fixing their ball marks.3. Slow play at times. But overall excellent experience... it is my home course.
Great park. This wasnt my first time here, however it was the first time coming to mountain bike. There are plenty of trails to hike and bike. If golf is your thing, they have a world renowned black course. There are playgrounds for kids and tons of space for other athletic activities.
This is a public course and is also host of the Masters every four years. The black course does not allow golf carts. It is also one of the most challenging courses I have ever played! I highly recommend it only for very experienced and talented golfers. The park boasts several other courses which are excellently laid out and maintained and do not require the skill of the black course
Is very nice place for bicycles and barbecue. The only problem I notice it a lot of times when they organize a big parties behaving very loud speakers and theyre talking very aggressively in the different languages that becomes very annoyed . we dont understand these languages and we just hearing people screaming. I wish the people that they are in charge to keep this place running stop them from bringing such a big speakers like that. Is that like to speak in their language no problem its a free country but not with a so big speakers.Definitely this Historic Site deserves to be treated with different way, and more respect for the environment.
Clean bathrooms and picnic area. Fun park for the kids. We took the bike trail from Merrick Rd. The path was beat up from Merrick to sunrise then it smooths out. But the bushes along the trail are getting over grown. Over awesome shaded trail for over 20 miles round trip.
A great place. Went to see a band on Wednesday nite they really SUCK. I mean bad they took breaks that last forever. I forgot their name in a Way thats good. The DJ was better then thank horrid rock in roll band. The crowd was cool an older gathering. People just having a good time on a nice summer evening.
Love the golf courses, they are in good shape. Unfortunately, you have to deal with some of the rudest staff Ive ever seen. People who are spending their hard-earned money at your facility should not have to feel like they are an inconvenience to the staff when they are checking in. You choose this job, dont get mad when you have to actually perform your required duties.
Great place for the money. All five courses are great. If you are looking for a enjoyable round, try the yellow or the green. The Blue and the Red are more challenging and the Black is for the most experienced as the sign says. I have found the staff to be very helpful and pleasant. The cashiers and supervisory staff are there and will give you all the answers that you need. The maintenance staff on the golf course have also been very helpful. Give it a try!!!
Black is one of the best courses on the planet! Bring your A game, if you dont it will eat you up. I shot 82 once and thats a feat Ill never forget. The warning on the first tee explains it all. Warning- The black course is an extremely difficult course which we only recommend for highly skilled golfers
Beautiful place for walking, jogging or biking the path even with the smallest children any time of the year. The sight, smells, sounds of nature are incredibly therapeutic to the soul. Just a walk and a talk with a friend, or having a solo photography session is worth ditching your phone for an hour.
Great time at the PGA! Parking was at Jones Beach and the shuttle only took about 20 minutes. Their were plenty of food and drink vendors and the course was absolutely lovely. A great public relic stashed away in the center of Long Island. It includes 5 courses including the infamous and extremely difficult bethpage black course. Course to be used in major tournaments again in the near future!
Awesome park as a whole. Loads of activities for just about anyone. Polo games in the summer. 5 golf courses including Bethpage Black which hosted the US Open 2 times. Hiking Trails, Mountain Biking trails. Playgrounds, Picnic Grounds and much, much more. Visit and enjoy
Beautiful state park with a lot to do. Plenty of biking trails (paved and dirt ones alike), playground, open fields, hiking trails, and picnic tables. A lot of people seem to park outside the park entrance on the residential side streets and biking from there as opposed to paying for entry.
GREAT golf courses. Improved driving range and teaching area.4 stars because of long rounds and no short game area. Practice putting greens do not allow chipping nor do they have holes cut. So you put a tee in the ground and putt to that. Not a deal breaker but not ideal either.
Love this place. Learned to mountain bike here and still ride there to this day. They have created structure to the web of trails there by making a few colored loops. Get out and ride it. Parking fee there and locals are bitchy about parking on the street and everywhere in town charges or is timed. I used to park in the shopping center parking lot next to the library before a shop owned started giving me jazz. My advice is either, park there and take the jazz or park north of the park and take the Greenbelt trail in. You can find where to park right on youre google maps. Find Bethpage park and follow the dark green north till it crosses a street. There are I believe 3 street crossings before you hit the lie. Happy riding.
Very convenient layout, the parking lot, playground, bathroom and picnic/bbq areas were located right next to each other, other parks require you to struggle and lug around all of your food and equipment all over the place, arent we here to relax? Also the playground was clean, there was no garbage and there were no leaves lying around for the children to slip on, i wish the parks in brooklyn were like that, good job guys! keep up the good work! As a side note it was confusing trying to here from the highway they need to improve the signs and give clearer directions from their website, multiple people in my car group ended up at the golf course instead, i actually had a police officer who was kind enuff to notice I was lost and let me follow him to the picnic grounds, visiters being lost trying to find the park seems to be a regular thing, i think there is some confusion with the directions and using GPS which needs to be addressed, someone should check it out. Other than that very nice park, if you can find it
Only play black if you are SKILLED, and if you arent, but must...play the most forward tees and experience Bethpage black !!! Toughest course Ive ever played at 6,780 yards !!!! And Ive played 607 worldwide !!!! AND I ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF THE EXPERIENCE. THE COURSE CONDITIONS COULDVE HELD A MAJOR THAT DAY. THATS HOW NICE THE COURSE PLAYED. DONT OVERLOOK THE RED COURSE, GREAT CONDITION, AND PROVIDES GREATER PLAYABILITY FOR THE AVERAGE GOLFER.
Bethpage State Park is home to a wonderful collection of five championship golf courses, all of them radiating out from the same large clubhouse. The Black course is widely recognised as a golf course that ranks alongside the worlds best. This is one of the United States most admired tree-lined and open parkland layouts, with an outstanding array of excellently crafted and challenging holes. Golf courses dont get any better than this.
I have played around and this is the best golf course that I know. A true test for the real golfer and probably a nightmare for a beginner. The thing I liked about this course is that everything is right in your face, no need for blind shots because this monster donΒ΄t need to hide from you. The first par 5 is probably the most beautiful hole in the game without the help of an ocean view...
Golfing is one of Americas favourite pastimes and no better place to play golf on Long Island than Bethpage State Park! The golf courses are manicured perfectly. The obstacles make you really indoctrinate how to swing your club, the angles and hote to gauge a perfect game of golf. Many of the taxi drivers at Farmingdale Taxi and Airport Service play golf here on our days off so we have high regards for Bethpage State Park!

2021-10-10Absolutely the best public course in NYS. The Black is a a challenge to walk and will leave you loving golf and questioning your game before coming right back to do it again! The online tee system is only problem I have with the Bethpage State Park golf system. Hit fairways and have some fun!

2022-06-10Went to a π ng at the Heritage Club. Beautiful place - perfect for a wedding . Food was great. I felt they might have been understaffed. How often do you see the father of the groom working his way through the waiting crowd to bring champagne back to the bridal suite.very nice place though and worth a look for a venue for a party.

2022-06-02Every exit known to man was blocked off for your airshow. We saw the program, but missed the part that said to get there early. You explained everything that happened, but we just missed that part and I looked at the entire program before coming. Twice or three times. It was so frustrating to commute there and spend all the money and not see the airshow. See your construction trucks but nobody working. We understand it was full but was upset because we didnβt catch that one important part. Could yβall please highlight that part for future goers? We were sure bummed. Atleast we saw the blue angels fly over once in formation and land at the local airport. That was the highlight of our commute there and day. Thanks. #BethpageAirshow2022

2019-05-20Its a shame I can only leave 5 stars! I should have the option to add a Platinum designation or a title like they give The Augusta Golf Club, they it the holy grail, well then Bethpage Black, one of 5 courses here should be the, The Grand Pooba. It is one of the most challenging 18 holes in golf. Aside from golf, there is a vast amount of land here for the whole family to enjoy. From picnics, Polo, hiking trails, bike trails, nature trails, etc. Its endless. A great public space for all to enjoy.
