1. The service could be better. My appetiser and main course came together and my food got cold bec of that.2. Didn’t get the menu even after sitting for more than 15 min and the staff stays at the back most of the time so you have to wait for them to come out if u need anything. I had to get up to go to another table to scan the menu.3. Lunch menu finished even when i had reservation for the afternoon.4. Taste wise the place is good. The taste is adjusted acc to american palate but still its decent.5. Had to call the staff to give me napkins or cutlery when they are supposed to give u that with your food.6. Rating them 4/5 only bec of the taste.
Indian cuisine spicy but not too hot. Their family style lunch is genius for work lunch groups. You can choose Vegetarian, Chicken, Seafood or Lamb for a two course meal. Food is flavorful and served with white rice and naan bread. Beverages are extra and they do not have many wine or beer options. Service is quick and prices reasonable. Good to find this place a couple of blocks from work.
Great food and great atmosphere! We sat outside as we wanted to take advantage of the pleasant evening September weather. It was a full house so highly recommended to reserve. We ordered potatoes/cauliflower dish, biryani chicken, prawn dish with rich tomato gravy, white rice, naan and roti. Although they didn’t serve the usual free papadum with three different dipping sauces and rice/bread wasn’t included with an entree, everything tasted very very good! Fragrant, authentic and the portion was quite generous. One of the best Indian restaurants in the neighborhood! Service was fast and efficient (read: a bit cold; didn’t ask if the food was ok and had to ask for more water).
They told me I need to sit inside to order takeout food then it seems it started to get busy so one of the waiters told me can you go out and sit there?. I ordered the food but havent tried it yet but it doesnt seem like they have the best customer service. I dont blame them. Waiters dont seem familiar with the country and the customer service ethics. It seems like a good spot for some Indians though.
On our trip to NYC, we got chance to dine in at Bhatti Indian Grill. Food was very delicious, excellent presentation / quality and top notch service. I highly recommend trying this. As a Bhatti myself, I am not associated in any way with this restaurant however just sharing my honest experience :-).
We got paneer tikka masala and lamb rogan josh, which were delicious. What stands out the most about Bhatti is their kind staff. It was pouring outside and we had a baby puppy with us. Every other Indian restaurant in the surrounding did lot let us come in, even though there was a storm and our dog was in a bag, but Bhatti let us in and gave us a lot of comforting food! Highly recommend. Their chai was not the best.
I ordered the lamb biryani and garlic naan. It was wonderful. Very fresh and full of flavor. It is served with a creamy yogurt sauce which helps to cut some of the heat down. Wasnt asked about a heat level when ordering which was fine. Had it been any hotter- I dont think I wouldve enjoyed it.The service and the bathroom left something to be desired but otherwise a great chic spot. Good value and portion size as well.
Been here twice. The food and vibe are awesome, one of the best Indian restaurants in the city. Unfortunately the service is TERRIBLE, they would literally ruin your date or mood in general. Do not go if you are trying to have a good time. They told us an advance we could only be there for an hour, and didn’t want to take our order for appetizer cause the kitchen was very busy. Ended up taking it and everything came out at the same time
Coming from the UK maybe we had higher expectations of Indian curry but this wasnt great. We ordered what we thought was grilled lamb but came out like lamb paste. And to be charged nearly $4 for mango chutney is ridiculous. Wouldnt recommend and definitely wouldnt go back.
Im pretty relaxed about the level of service expected, but this place just blew my mind. The servers was so rude, by not even asking us what we want, making decision for us how many naans we want etc, not giving us some time to choose what we want to order. Also the restaurant managed to mangle the order, bring something we didnt order, which we complained about. Despite that they included it in the final bill (so we had to complain to exclude it). Finally when the bill came, they just dumped the payment terminal on the table and left waiting for us to pay.It is simply an outrageous place. (the food was all right and if it had staff that had some manners, itd be fine).
I’m originally from Lucknow and their Galouti Kebabs were the best I’ve had in NYC so far...but their service is not good because servers ignore you. It’s sad because their food was amazing so I think I’ll only do pickup or delivery from now on, but kudos to the chef for the melt-in-your mouth kebabs and the amazing lachha parantha! Must try food.
I believe good hospitality makes the food taste better. And Bhatti is one of those places, the staff are very nice hosts. The food is traditional yet with a unique chefs signature, with beautiful presentation. The launch specials come at excellent price and in a district with many indian restaurants, Bhatti stands out.
We went on a Sunday afternoon and our experience was amazing. We ordered Paneer Tikka Masala, Dal Bhatti, Garlic naan, Chilli Naan and Laccha paratha. Everything was very delicious. The customer service was also great. We asked for extra spicy and the food was on point. I highly recommend Bhatti if you want some authentic Indian food.
We were four of us yesterday for dinner. We had a really great time in Bhatti. As always, I enjoyed their food and also my family did. The food that we ordered were all delicious. Special thanks to my server who took a good care of us. Thank you Mayank ji.Overall, food was great, service was outstanding, and the outside dining experience was good too. I’ve come to Bhatti couple of times before for indoor dining. But, dining outside was my first time here and I love the decor.
Not so great experience.Average taste.High cost relative to taste.Never seen a Naan which is of Roti size. They charge 18-19$ for Entree but dont serve rice with it which is weird ..you get rice complementary everywhere ..also quantity of food was bare minimum..only suffices for 2 people..I would recommend go to Sarvanna Bhavan which is 2 mins walk from there.2/5 for meConsideringQuantityCostComplementaryTasteRasoi in JOURNAL SQUARE is way far better than this as well.
All the dishes we ordered (goat biryani, grilled lamb chops, malai kebab, galouti kebab) were awesome. The goat biryani was perfectly fragrant (kewra water?) and moist and the spices were perfect. The galouti kebab just melted in my mouth. The lamb chops were very hot, probably because they used red chilli powder for the bright red color instead of the often toxic food color that most other indian restaurants use.
We travel from Colorado twice a year to NYC and always come here. However, we have been disappointed with the flavor and spices of the food the last 2 times. We loved the authentic spices and “bite” to the food. That’s been missing. The food was “bland” and spiced down for the American taste buds. So disappointed. The Saag paneer is bland ! No flavor or bite to the food as they used to have . Maybe they have a new chef? With so many Indian restaurants in NYC, you have to remain authentic and competitive, have your unique flavors. That said, the service is amazing, the care and attention to detail is phenomenal.
Buffet style Indian food for an unbelievable price during lunch hours, only $14, but they bring the food to your table. Gets really crowded during noon.Usually they serve 3 appetizers, 5 course of veg and non-veg items, and a dessert item at the end. They take reservations only for weekends. Service is not at it’s best but the delicious dishes and the affordable price overcomes the shortfalls.
Had a quick lunch with my aunt and we both left fat and happy!! Out of dozens and dozens of Indian restaurants in manhattan, BHATTI GRILL IS A TRUE GEM!Their service was awesome, all of the food was fresh and very tasty but surprisingly their Daal Makhani became my favorite, and I’m usually not a daal fan! Can’t wait to go back for dinner.
Nothing special more like hype, if you come without reservation they make you wait and then give seats after 20-30mins even seats are available all the time, remember they add 40% tip already ,make sure cancel that .Better skip and go somewhere else.Naan suppose to be more crispy as I told them but seems regular one, spice level mild they even dont bother to ask.
Just do it! My friend and I have been bouncing around the Indian restaurants in the area and this place is by far our most favorite. The ambiance is quiet and somewhat romantic. Sophisticated. We usually take pictures of the food we eat but once we tried what was brought to our table we forgot all about it and the food disappeared in moments. Everything was well flavored and so fresh. We had no complaints about anything. Will definitely be returning often.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This restaurant was recommended by our Uber driver after a show. It was a Saturday night, and I had no reservations. Albla was super sweet and made our night! She got us a table, ... the best table actually! Now the food,.. I must say, this is the BEST Indian restaurant I have ever eaten at. I’m such a snobby eater and a huge foodie. I ate till it hurt! You must try!!🥰❤️
Bhatti Indian Grill was an amazing culinary experience. Chef Anand has thought of something so eclectic in the heart of New York City. Throughout the years the consistency has remained the same. Their creativity has continued to surpass year from year! Highly recommend dining here!!
Amazed at the consistency of taste, quality and speed that Bhatti continues to maintain over the years. I just went to Bhatti after 3 years (COVID times) and found the same delicious dishes served. The Panner Bhurji and Chhole (chickpeas) was so amazing that I didn’t even take a bite of Dum Gosht Biryani I ordered (ate it the next day — equally delicious and well cooked). The “Indian” beer - The 1947 - was a cherry on top!!
Bhatti Indian Grill is a solid Indian restaurant in the heart of Manhattan. The service was excellent and the food was even better. The gravy of the curries were well-balanced. The garlic roti perfectly holds the flavors of the sauces. And the biryani was perfectly spiced.I’d come here again!
Tops the list of tasty lunch. Expect a warm staff, and traditional north Indian food. Serving size is sufficient for a person and half. Garlic Naan bread was super soft and amazing in taste. Same applies for the paneer dishes. We requested a spicy-hot dal tadka and it tasted great too. Kids loved the Mango lassi. Weekends is made-to-order dishes while weekdays are buffet. Bhatti has a decent seating space.
We were a party of three who just got back from lunch at Bhatti. We had the lunch special that was served with bhel puri, sambar vada and chicken kabab as appetizers. Next came the main course with rajma masala, paneer butter masala, aloo gobi, butter chicken, saag gravy, lamb curry, naan and veg biriyani. Everything is unlimited (this is just a buffet that is served at the table).Every item tasted amazing and we werent able to finish it all. We were three, but the food served seemed like for six people. We asked if we could take the left over food to go as there was just too much food to be wasted. We were told that they dont box them to go. We were a little skeptical about what theyd do with and asked them if it was to be thrown away, and were told that it is given to a charity. We had a feeling that it is just being reused and served again.
This place has to offer one of the best Indian food in Lexington Avenue however I personally think it’s little overly priced. They are specialized in grilled dishes, unfortunately I tried something simple as it was my first time here and I was hungry and didn’t want to take the risk. Their food was dangerously delicious, full of aroma especially the chicken tikamasala and chicken briyani is uniquely delicious, flavored with varieties of herbs and spices. Very nice and cozy place. Not recommended for wheelchairs particularly for the restroom. They have OpenTable if you want to reserve a table. Do not be alarmed by their giant male server, they are very sweet and nice. I’ll definitely come back to try more food, GRILLED food!
THEY CHARGE YOU SOMETHING CALLED ‘COVID TAX’. I expected my final check to have a 20% gratuity since we were a party of 6, but the sneakily added ‘covid tax’ of $7 which literally makes zero sense was a surprise.Leaving aside absurd taxing practices, the food is average, but waiting times are extremely high even when it’s not crowded. Portion sizes are minimal too. Lexington Ave has multiple Indian/South Asian restaurants. I recommend looking around.
My favourite favourite indian restaurant in NYC - I haven’t had a better dal makhani in my life (and I grew up/ live in India). I went there or ordered in almost every week for the many years I lived in New York. I took all my international friends there and they absolutely loved the food too. Of all the restaurants in NYC I even decided to end my birthday celebrations at Bhatti (lol!) - it’s great food to soak up all the alcohol after a day of drinking / when you’re hungover / craving comfort food. My standard order was dal makhani, paneer tikka, butter naan and raita. Not to mention the free papad at the start of the meal. Drooling just thinking about it 🤤
Honestly, Ive been eating better Indian food, even in Poland ;) What I need to admit, that the staff is heplful and friendly, and the lunch set is big enough (too big even!) for 2 people (2xappetizer, main courses and sides, 2xdessert). See the picture attached (lunch set + 2xmango lassi = $39).
We ordered Bhatti via Ubereats. The food got delivered to us 2.5 hours after we ordered. We contacted Ubereats and they said their delivery guy was waiting for Bhatti to finish cooking. We ordered 7 items and only 5 were delivered. They cancelled 2 items and did not let us know. We called the restaurant to ask them why the food is being delayed and they sarcastically told us we were delaying the food delivery because we asked for a status check on the food we ordered. We had run a race earlier in the day and we were all starving and craving Indian food. Since it took 2.5 hours to be delivered, we ordered from another Indian restaurant in the meanwhile to curb our hunger.
We went expecting spectacular service and food based on the reviews. While the service was decent, the food left much to be desired for. Our appetizers were ok but served with this weird rose flavored yogurt decoration and no chutneys which are a must for any Indian appetizer. Additionally, the quantity was laughably small! Who charges $15 for three kebabs? Our entrées were again just ok but the butter naans barely had any butter on them. We weren’t in the mood to be disappointed by dessert so paid and left. I wonder if this is a recent deterioration or if the other reviewers hadn’t been to good Indian restaurants. Not recommended at all!
The service at the restaurant was very poor. The waiter asked us if we were ready to order right after he seated us, which of course we weren’t. Little did we know we would have to wait for 25 minutes before he came to take our order again! We repeated asked for an extra glass of water (we were 4, there were only 3 glasses) and were brought one well into our first course. The food was also mediocre, and quite a disappointment as I’d heard good things about the place pre-pandemic. The chicken curry was too salty and the butter naan had no butter! When we asked to replace the naan the chef came out and insisted that the butter naan is supposed to be ‘dry’ - absolutely absurd!Overall I wouldn’t go again and would definitely not recommend the restaurant to anyone else.
Has the management/kitchen changed?? Not too long ago, we thought the food was decent. However, had an extremely poor experience when ordering last night. The whole experience failed miserably on all counts. First, the quantity was almost half of what it used to be. When calling the restaurant to talk about it, had to deal with a really obnoxious employee by the name of Sachin. He started of the conversation itself in a rude, arrogant and demeaning manner from the get go, which really riled us up. Cannot believe they employ such people to talk to their customers! Second, the food was really bad. The paneer was hard and chewy. Saag paneer curry had no flavor. Malai kofta had way too much salt. Very disappointed. We would have probably given it another shot given we have liked the food here in the past and giving the benefit of doubt that yesterday was an off day; but the treatment we faced by the said employee has left a really bad taste (pun intended!). We are DONE with Bhatti and NEVER AGAIN!
The manager was good, focused and very attentive. But the other staff was least interested in attending guests. We kept on waiting for everything little thing. I would highly recommend not to go on a busy day and timing, as the service level will be very low. Food is good but the experience matters too!
Chicken biryani was spoiled --Chicken was not fresh and had that unmistakable gone-bad stench. I left a message with someone at the restaurant BEFORE leaving this review, but its been two days and they have have not even bothered to return my call. I dont think I will ever order again. I may not eat chicken for a while after this🤮
The food is great and the rose garden is gorgeous but the service, not so much. It took a good 30-40 minutes for food to be served and We ordered 2 chaats as an appetizer but it was served with the dinner which made no sense and it came one by one. The portions are small which is another downside. It was a good first time experience but I won’t be returning.
Not a good experience. Only four outdoor seating tables. Restaurant has decorated outdoor seating but deferred the expense of putting up decent heaters. Very uncomfortable and extremely chilly trying to eat outside in the cold. Food is subpar as compared to other Indian restaurants on the same street and is overpriced. Would skip dining here again this winter.
My friend and I decided to give this place a try, but we were greeted by extremely rude service. The server put the spoon directly on the table. How do they expect us to use silverware to eat which is directly lying on the table? This was totally unacceptable. We still requested for another spoon. Then started the long wait for food. When we almost waited for an hour and asked for our food.. we were told that there is no order placed. I found the server with whom I placed the order and he told us that because we switched tables, the dish went back. Apparantly it is very complicated because there are so many tables and we switched tables. Shamelessly no apologies by the staff. In fact we were handed our checks and were told that if we want the dish, we will have to wait again. Extremely rude staff. We had to leave hungry after paying for our drinks and find someplace else for dinner.
Have had better experience with Bhatti before. This time, the Methi chicken was super salty. Also the Chili naan took so much time that we had to wrap up and take it home as we were getting super late. The other naans came with the Entree but the Chili naan was missing. Had to tell them multiple times and there wasnt a single apology or acknowledgement of the screw-up.
Wow good restaurant but just this morning I saw them on the news with a really bad stance which seemed anti customer. Its as if their ready for unwanted customers. We get it we need to show a piece of cardboard that says we got a shot which this entire process is illegal! Food is good but the interview put me off.
We had dinner at Bhatti Indian Grill …. And …. it was AWESOME!!! Their outdoor dining space was warm and very beautifully decorated. We ordered a veg and non-veg platter with a delicious variety of vegetables, paneer, aloo, and stuffed mushroom, all fired in the tandoor. The chicken and lamb chops each with a unique marinade were savory. We also had the Dal Batti, Chicken Kadai Masala, and several other dishes with a mixed variety bread basket, rice, and raita.I was searching for a sense of normalcy, I certainly found it here. I highly recommend making a reservation to dine there, or certainly pick up food to takeout. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you to the staff and management for a good time. Now I’m going to eat my leftovers and I will be back very soon
Their lunch buffet is so satisfying. Its filled with a lot of North Indian dishes and thick gravy items. The buffet is brought to your table and you dont have to go to the buffet area. The servers are very quick. They bring stuff based on your preferences but if you have no preference they will bring everything. The food quality is good. They also have an office box which is a take out box with a good portion for lunch. You may want to reach there before 12 because it gets very crowded and you may have to wait outside the restaurant.Edit:The quality is not what it used to be.Also they have so many people waiting that they pressure you to leave quickly.
I had reservation for party of 4 tonight. As we entered the restaurant there was no host/hostess to seat us.There was a random guy who just came and sat us on a dirty table. We asked the server to clean the table and told us to get up.I mean why did the person seat us when the table was not clean .We immediately left restaurant. Wanted to try this restaurant but customer service was really poor god knows how the food is.I’m really disappointed.
Really good paneer! I went there with a friend and it tasted delicious! However a bit pricey because I would not pay that much for daal when I could make it at home and it would taste just as good. But I have a feeling the prices are for the outdoor heating and the atmosphere. Very good nonetheless.
We have been going to the Bhatti Grill for years. Always superb food. However, this January we decided to treat my mother to an authentic Indian meal. Starters were very tasty and did not disappoint. The main courses fell woefully short of our prior experiences and expectations. My husband can not eat salty food and we had asked for the chef not to put any additional salt. The irony of it was that his dish was so salty it was inedible by anyone in our party much less him. That goes for the rest of the main courses as well. We will not be coming to this establishment anymore. Utter disappointment.
I had never been to Bhatti Indian Grill, before, but my first time was a great time. The prices are reasonable, and for those of you who love wine, I think you shall findcplenty to keep you happy. Also, the place seems vegetarian-friendly, and the service was quite good. If you go on a Saturday, do your best to arrive before 5PM, otherwise you might have a bit if a wait. I look forward to returning, as soon as I can.
My experience wasnt good at all, although the waitress and the Chef and even the Manager, Alba was very pleasant. I ordered a Kebab dish for Apperizer. When the dish came, I tried the chutney that was along on the Appetizer plate, and to my utter surprise there were about 5 STAPLES in the chutney!!! THANK GOD I DIDNT EAT THOSE! I WOULD NOT GO BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT EVER. This is a clear lack of care for what they serve to their customers.
The worst service worst possible service it took them one hour to just get the appetizers I am surprised how this restaurent is in businessHorrible service I will never come here nor recommend anyone as the service is horrible take your business somewhere else as the service sucks and no one cares at this restaurent.I guess the owner of this business Dosent care how horrible the service is at this Lexington and 28th street.
Very good food, the veg biryani was amazing and the dal makhni which is the dal bhatti was superb! Only catch is outdoor dining, which gets very cold during the winters. Now we cannot really help given the times we are in but it would be great if the space heaters hung on the roof of an otherwise open structure are brought down to the floor.
Very nicely decorated Indian restaurant with good service, even during the busy lunch hour. Like most Indian restaurants in the neighborhood, they have very reasonably priced lunch specials, but even if you order off the regular menu, you are not going to go broke eating here. The food was very good and the portions were adequate for the price. The spice in the lamb garam masala did not taste like I am used to, but not in a bad way (it’s nice to see a different interpretation now and then). I was only disappointed because they didn’t have samosas on the menu—an Indian meal isn’t complete if I don’t get to eat a samosa.
Bhatti rhymes with Tatti. So is their food and service.I am sorry to say this but, the service was so bad that we were sitting without food for 45+ minutes. Also, when the food came, it had hair strand in it and small hard stone like things. And above all the utensils and glass in which they serve water were also stinking.
Went for the lunch special, amazing amount of appetizers and mains for the price. Know that its a set menu, however, but I urge you to trust the establishment. My only complaint is that the dishes seem to be adjusted for American tastes and dont have all the spices I would normally expect. Dont get me wrong though, excellent place for lunch.
This place was a surprise, the food was not your run off the mill Indian food. The dishes are the same, but you can tell it was made fresh to order. Try your typical north Indian food here and you will be surprised how it tastes fresh compared to your other generic Indian joints.
Lovely food, cant fault that. However, the most surreal dining experience of my life. About 5 mins after I ordered, the owner walks in to a table of friends; apparently its his birthday. He starts shouting, telling the staff to close the restaurant and ordering them to put the music up to a deafening level. If I hadnt had earphones to put in to drown out the noise, I would have walked out. Intermittently he was yelling at staff to tell everyone to get the f... out (Im about 2 metres away at this point), and would tell any unfortunate hopeful diners that they were closed (this was 1.5 hours before advertised closing). Restaurant staff were evidently embarrassed and incapable of doing anything since the owner is clearly a drunk tyrant. I would in no way recommend you giving your custom to an owner so arrogant and disdainful of his customers - if you want to have a party in your own restaurant, close it to customers. But yeah, the food was nice, compliments to the chef.
Lunch special very good on 09/16Went a week later with my wife on 09/25. Lady behind counter was very rude. She took away the plates while eating even with out asking and we had to tell her we are still eating. Happened twice. Its not like we asked for second serving. The first serving arrived late and roti arrived at table after rice and my wife eats slowly. At least she could have asked. May be a one time thing but food was good. Give it a try!
Bhatti has, hands down, some of the best Indian food in Murray Hill. Lunch special during the week is all-you-eat table service, so dont be shy to ask for more of something that you enjoyed (as long as you plan to eat all of it). They also have a vegetarian option. Small dessert is included at end. Dinner/post-lunch menu is significantly more expensive ($$$$ for dinner vs $$ for lunch). Customer service is excellent. Note that space is limited (no strollers or large items allowed inside), and during the lunch rush there can be a wait if you get there 15 mins past opening.
They have very very nice lunch specials. It has wide variety of starters and main course served personally. So you dont have the buffet feeling. The quantity of food is a lot and the taste is very original Indian. The price of lunch specials is also not bad at all considering the quality and quantity.
I came w/ my friend for lunch who had been here before. Things have changed, the lunch special now is more like a buffet served at your table. They give you the specials of the day, vegetarian or not and no other choices are given. Overall the taste of all the dishes that weve tried were good. And when we were done we asked if we could take the leftovers but were told sorry sir, absolutely not.. so when the table was being cleared, the empty dishes were stacked on top of each other and the dishes that had food left were handled separately. Leading me to believe that either the food is being wasted and thrown out or its being recycled. Either option is unacceptable.Either its a buffet or its just a lunch special.Neither of us will be doing that again and only returning to order from the full menu.
This was an interestting experience for me! The decor is beautiful and the staff were very friendly but here were some of my concerns on their lunch buffet:The typical lunch format is: 2 appetizers, 3 curries, daal, biryani and 1 dessert. Youd have to let them know if you want vegetarian or both. Rather than a traditional buffet, they bring small sizes of all these things to your table instead. This does more harm than good in a few ways.Unlike a buffet, You dont get to pick what you want. Everything comes to your table and if you like anything in particular, you can ask for a refill. But if you dont like something, it goes back and also after youre done, it still goes back. In Either way, it scares me to think what theyd do when they take it back(figure it out lol) and this is concerning. Heres what I got:*Sambar vada and bhel Puri were the appetizers which tasted decent.**The curries however, had no flavor or taste in them. The biryani wasnt even close to what it shouldve been. All I saw was colored rice with onion and one other thing. And The lentil was terrible with no taste.***My first naan was one the worst Ive ever had. When I showed them how it was thick and not fully done, they took it back and brought a crispy and thin naan this time that was way better. They are nice people but not the best food. Especially for the price of $14/pp+tax, Id expect better food! All in all: If you care for real authentic or flavorful Indian food, then I wouldnt recommend this but if you dont mind bland food or new to Indian food, then youll be fine.
Went here with my friends for lunch, there was a birthday girl in the group.JD was our waiter. We had a fantastic dining experience, from the food to the superior service.Food kept coming. One dish more delicious than the next, we felt special the entire time we were there, which by the way was close to two hours!Even though we have been eating Indian food for years, we enjoyed several new dishes and flavors.By the way they also accommodated a Vegan diner with grace! Thanks again JD.
First let me say that the place was small & there is no waiting room. With that being said, going in 30 degree weather meant that people crowded the door waiting for a table or stood out in the cold. However, I was impressed at how quickly they turned tables and sat people. We waited for a about 20 minutes with a reservation but when we sat down, WOW! The servers were awesome and very attentive, it didnt take long for food to come and the food was mind-blowing. I will say that this was the best Indian food Ive ever had. Ill come back when the weather is a little warmer.
A bit of a random place with gold decor halfway posh but also very simplistic, house music playing in the background... I don’t know what they want you to believe their style is. The vegetarian eggplant dish was delicious, the meat was very mediocre. The rice was ok if you don’t mind it butter tossed. There’s better Indian food for a smaller price tag around in this neighborhood.
Fantastic food. Really fantastic food! The garlic naan is amazing.Wine from menu was average but not a concern as I know you can now BYOB.Wait staff were very very helpful apart from hostess who I can only imagine wanted us out, sharpish. She literally threw the check on the table without saying anything!
This reminded of my hometown food in India - this shows how authentic the food is at this restaurant. Their Bhatti Daal (lentil) is a must try. In addition to great food, their service is excellent also. Plenty of options for vegetarians. Definitely one of my favorite Indian restaurant in Manhattan. Only critique is that their sofa/seating was clearly broken.
Have been here 4 times, and always had a good experience. The food is delicious, the starters are my favorite. I am a vegetarian. The place is toddler friendly. The service is good. The only downside is it can be busy as there is a limited seating capacity. Call and reserve to avoid disappointment.
Absolutely terrible service. From the attitude to it taking 35 minutes to get drinks which happened well after the food to the relentless push to try to get us to order more, this was the most pathetic service we have experienced in a while. Fortunately the last server to touch the table was very nice and tried to right the wrongs of first server. That stated the food was really good. Overpriced but quite good.
An amazing place for Indian food, cooked closest to being as good as having it back in India. The rotis, the biryani and chicken curry was tasty and serving size was also pretty big. Until now whenever I have visited an Indian restaurant abroad, never loved the flavours as it felt it was frozen and reheated and made from ready to eat packets. But this restaurant is a must visit when one is in New York.I deducted one star coz of the staffs attitude. We entered at 4.50pm and the restaurant was to open at 5pm. But he didnt allow us to sit and wait until they opened although there was a table of two sitting who were finishing their food. Being an Indian restaurant the staff should have known the Indian culture and at least welcomed us and allowed to be seated.A must visit place for finger licking Indian food.
Nonchalant attitude when you call in about a late delivery. Ordered at 7:29PM, delivery came at 10:03PM. Delivery guy told my doorman he was busy and wouldnt being the food up to my apartment. I called Seamless to remove his tip. The food is either great or average at Bhati. It becomes average when they are running low on a curry and add water to dilute it. My order arrived cold, like it was in an ice box. These people are totally mad. Update: A second delivery just arrived for my same order. They had lost track of the first one, so sent another delivery guy with another order. This one was at least warm. I want to like this place, but their disorganization drives me nuts!
Be prepared to pay about 30% more than their menus outside and online say. When we mentioned the price difference to the manager who was serving us, he was dismissive, swatted his hands at us and walked away. Terrible service afterwards. Had to stand up and go ask for the check ourselves at the end of the meal. If you like awful service and average Indian food at exorbitant prices, this is the restaurant for you.
We got the buffet. It had butter chicken, paneer makni, saag paneer and other veg and non veg dishes. Everything generally tasted good. I especially enjoyed the butter chicken, the paneer makni and this other Chicken dish that I dont know the name of. Most of the dishes tasted very good 👌. Will come back for buffet. The price is very fair as well. Worth it!
Quaint restaurant located in the heart of little India. This location is small, but very welcoming and the wait staff is very attentive. Its BYOB and the food is absolutely on point. Great location for a group of friends, or an intimate dinner for two.I highly recommend going to Bhatti!
We ordered mixed kebab platter. It tasted nice and the meat was marinaded nicely and tender. However the portion was too less considering 22 usd price point. Literally it had 6 pieces only. Additionally we had naan and rogan josh. Rogan josh well cooked but unusually sweet in taste. 🤣🤣🤣. They should allow BYOB. Choice for drinks is very limited.
Delightful experience tonight for dinner. This is a top notch michelin rated restaurant and lives up to the rating. Have been here a few times. This time it was mothers day and we did not have a reservation. they took our name and number and was told to come back in a half hour which we did. The food is terrific. I had the grilled marinated lamb chops. Their mango lassi is nice and thick and sized large compared to other places. There are plenty of indian restaurants right there on lexington avenue but this continues to be a favorite. service was good considering it was full
Food is good.Restaurant is very small and congested.Staff is kinda rude and I felt like they dont care if you ask them to bring another spoon or plate. For their hospitality, -2 stars. For their food I could have given 4 as food is good :) but overall 3star restaurant.
I thought this was a good restaurant. But nothing special about the food here. The people working here are so rude, and act like they are doing us a favor. There are numerous Indian places near by which serve better food both in quality and quantity.I will not recommend this place.
Bhatti is a cute spot, very cozy. Staff is polite. We went on a Saturday night at 8pm, had to wait about 20min which is fine, however there is no room to wait except right at the door and even then tables are right there so guests are constantly shuffling around as the staff moves around serving. It was a particularly chilly night and the restaurant was pretty cold too, many guests kept their jacket on. The food was good, nothing spectacular but not bad at all. Lassi wasnt really lassi, how you mess up lassi is beyond me; the chaat was small and not very good at all - Im happy to say that was the worst part. The naan was great, you could taste the freshness! My friends loved the lamb chops, they were very nicely cooked. The Rogan Josh was okay, a little bland but not bad. The Gobi/Aloo dish was extremely good, authentic taste. The portions werent as big as typical Indian restaurants, but theyre sensible. We were in and out pretty quickly. Overall its a decent experience, however simply due to the space being so overcrowded and not temperature controlled I dont think I would dine there again.
The Best Indian Food I have had in NYC. Much better than the Michelin Star Junoon also.Getting a table here is difficult but absolutely worth the wait.Highly Recommended are1. Ghar Wali Fish Curry2. Chicken Makhanwala3. Onion KulchaStaff too is very friendly, especially Mr. Nelson. The Service is Excellent.
I opted For LUNCH SPECIAL and was fooled by the reviews and ratings. They dont disclose the menu for such deal but all it had was pathetic quality of food. The menu for us was anyway limited as we were vegetarians- started with1 TIKKI and handful BHEL.Main course included-Veg Rice Biryani, plain Naan,Butter paneer (very stiff paneer and sweet gravy),Gobhi aloo (raw cauliflower),Palak paneer (1 piece of paneer for 4 guys 🤣)Yellow DalFollowed by dessert item (kheer)
In an area heavily influenced by South-East Asian cuisine, this restaurant is a MUST. Ive been going here for years for their amazingly affordable lunch deal. In this setting, you simply sit down and endless food is brought to your table from the kitchen. Beware, if you dont get there by 11:50am you will be stuck in a queue.
The food and service seemed great. The entire evening and morning spent dealing with horrific food poisoning was not. In two and a half years of living in NYC, eating here marks the first time Ive had to deal with such intense food - related illness. Save your stomachs and go elsewhere.
We went for dinner on 12/24. These people are a bunch of liars & thieves. They added 50$ extra to our bill out of the blue for the things which we did not even order and when confronted they did not have an explanation and were not ready to remove the charge. After much convincing, they finally removed the charge. Not worth it, there are many far better restaurants out there in NYC.
The hostess was very rude at first. When we told our waiter that we didnt want any alcohol to drink, he seemed very angry and frustrated. I had trouble with my order and the waiter got impatient and decided my order for me. The food was nothing special, we received no attention from the staff while eating, our requests were ignored and we were charged extra for things that we did not ask for. The waiter says I will bring out one order of rice and naan for you to share he brings them to us with our food and then charges us $4 for the rice and $4 for the naan, which is ridiculous. This restaurant doesnt deserve your business.
Customer service sucks, I ordered chicken biryani told them very clearly i want very mild. its so spicy i cant eat, I dont think so they understand customer requirement or else they dont care about customer very time we have problem with this restaurant, Sometimes they forget to send utilities with delivery. BY the way the delivery was taken by women.I dont like to give one star as well but i cant post the review
We went to Bhatti specifically for northern Indian cuisine. We had paneer and chicken tikka masala, both flavorful and creamy. I could just eat the Tikka malasa sauce with naan and rice, so good. We also had an okra dish, but I found it to be a little slimy (which they are known to be if not cooked properly). We also had rice and naan, nothing to write home about. Food came out pretty quick, service was pretty minimal, not bad just not too attentive. Will probably visit again, unless we find another better northern Indian restaurant.
Ive been here multiple times. Decided to do a walk in with my wife one night and never regretted it to this day. Great food, reasonably priced. Warm customer service. Usually nice and quiet with a mature crowd. Portions could be larger but whatre ya gonna do? Will continue to frequent this restaurant. My fave is the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan and rice. There are some Indian style buffalo wings, which are so good but I cant recall the name. Theyre on the app portion of the menu. They also stay open late and weve never felt rushed...but we go when there isnt much traffic. Pretty small inside but not uncomfortable...actually very romantic. Love this place. Legit Indian cuisine...

2022-05-30Great tasting food that was served fresh and hot. The Rampuri Kebab was my favorite dish. The Dahi Palak Kebab was a bit undercooked and lacked the flavor I was expecting. Still, everything else was good. No white rice with the vegetable dishes so keep in mind it will cost you more.

2022-02-18It was our Valentines dinner so we wanted to try something different. The restaurant looks cool and mordenize. We order Garlic Naan, Lemon Rice, CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA and CHICKEN CHETTINAD. And I recommend if this is your first time to try Indian food. Those dishes above are safe choices for you. I love all of them, no complaints. And the portion and the price are good too. Definitely come back to try more new dishes from here

2022-03-08This has great north Indian food! The one thing you should not miss is the butter chicken - its the proper Delhi’s butter chicken. The galaouti kebbab is good too. Surprisingly, their vegetarian version of the galaouti kebab is amazing! Its red bean kebab, made to perfection.I would definitely recommend it :)

2022-04-09One of the best Indian restaurants in Manhattan that I’ve tried. I’ve been here a few times and haven’t been disappointed. Butter chicken, tikka masala, malai kofta, rogan josh, vindaloo…. All solid! I don’t like that they charge for rice however. Most restaurants will include it with every entree.

2022-02-194.5 we really enjoyed the food here!! The appetizers were our favorite with the chili gobi (perfectly crisp and flavored) and kebabs. We ordered Bullet Chili Kebab and the Tandoori Murgh Kebab which were both really nice and soft and had nice chutneys/masala complementing the kebab, highly recommend! For our entrees we ordered butter chicken which was pretty good and dhal makhani which was delicious. Glad we came here!!

2021-12-30We came here and ordered the lunch specials and they were amazing. We got an appetizer, a dal makhani, and a paneer special with the butter naans and basmati rice. They even substituted the paneer for aloo Gobi for one of the platters. Excellent service and great food. Definitely do give it a chance if you are in the area looking for some Indian food.

2022-05-30I think its a bit pricey for the quality of the food you get. Itll run you $20-$30 a person depending on if you want appetizers or not. The food was solid but not exceptional.More of a 3.5 stars place but Ill give 4 since we were a bigger group (8) and seated relatively quickly on a Saturday night.Get the chicken tikka or paneer tikka with garlic naan if you go.

2021-12-26It was a very heard name from my friends so decided to give this a try. Galouti kebab (added pic) was good but quantity is not worth the money. We also had Dilli Butter Chicken in entree which was awesome because it wasn’t sweet like most of the other Indian restaurants. All in all it was good for one time visit but overall the food is not worth the money.
