This recumbent store is The place to shop for a bent bike. I had done my research before my first visit so I had some idea of what I wanted. As I had no experience with these bikes I found that the staff were just great in orientating me to them. Ben was the one who worked with me and in following his cues I was very comfortable with learning how to ride the bike. He had me try out about 3 bikes with each bike serving the purpose of building up my level of confidence with the bike I was interested in. With the Bike Mans shop there is no pressure to buy a bike. They give you as much time to spend time with various bikes which you can test out in the road in back of the shop. After I purchased a bike I had to call them regarding questions about the bike and extra parts that I wanted. At each call they were very helpfull to my needs.I live some 300 miles from this Shop and while the distance is a deterrent their level of service more than overcomes any inconvenience.
I decided to get into mountain biking recently, and even though these guys specialize in laid back bikes, they offer excellent service for mountain bikes too. From making sure I got the appropriate size ordered for my short height and inseam, to the amazing assembly job, this shop made sure that I was good to get started. Now I see why my parents would bring their bikes here for maintenance and service of the several road and hybrid bikes weve had in the family through the years.
Took my road bike to these guys after reading all of the reviews and was honestly amazed at the friendliness and attention to detail put towards their services. They even got the dust off it. Even after something messed up after I picked it up from its tune up they quickly repaired it the next day, tested it to be sure and had it back to me within two hours. They may specialize in recumbents but they definitely know their stuff about plenty more. 10/10.
We were investigating recumbent trikes and after a thorough review of the extremely helpful web site of BicycleMan, e-mail back and forth with Peter and a phone call, we decided that it was worth driving 316 miles and 6 hours each way to visit and ride some trikes. It turned out to be an excellent visit. Peter answered questions very patiently. We were encouraged to ride a lot and to get back to them if we wanted to buy. No hard sell at all. We left and back at home considered what we had seen, ridden and the high level of service. We placed an order for 2 trikes and a hitch mounted rack and drove up again to take delivery when everything was ready. We are extremely pleased. BicycleMan is the closest shop to us with a full line of trikes. The knowledge and service is excellent, including the service at delivery. Would we buy from Peter and his team again? The answer is a resounding YES! Since there is a saying in the trike world that the correct number of trikes to own is N+1 where N is the number that you currently own, that day is likely to come sooner than later. All in all, a wonderful experience that we can highly recommend.
Peter gave me a lot of excellent free advice when I was looking at a local Craigslist sale of a Linear recumbent. I didnt get that bike because it was the wrong size for me, but he found me another one at a price I couldnt refuse, and Ive been riding that bike every possible day since. I recently had a small spill with some damage and he was there with the parts, communication, and expertise needed. I look forward to the day I can go into the shop and take home a brand new Linear, knowing full well the product and follow-up service will be first rate.
I cant say enough positive about Bicycle Man (the shop) or the Bicycle Man (Peter Stull) in Alfred Station, NY. I first visited the shop to check out a linear recumbent 2-wheel bike and spent most of the day trying a variety of recumbent bikes and tadpole trikes. Peter and his staff we very patient with a recumbent newbie and went out of their way to make my experience a positive one.Prices are great and the customer service cant be beat. You cant go wrong with the Bicycle Man!
The Bicycle Man changed my life ... for the better. I had been an avid bicycle rider since college. In recent years I had to give up riding due to hand numbness and neck pain from riding. Peter sold me my first recumbent, and my ability to ride pain free was restored. Im back to riding 3000ish miles per year again. I now commute to work by bicycle.Be forewarned...that first recumbent got me hooked. I traded that Rans V2 in for a Linear Limo 3.0 manufactured by and sold by the Bicycle Man. What a fabulous bike that is. After riding the Linear for a year I was down visiting the Bicycle Man for a free tune up of the Linear. He said it would take an hour or more and invited me to try riding other bikes he had in stock....I tried a tricycle. Big mistake! Now I have the Linear plus an ICE trike. My wallet is a little lighter. But so is my whole body. Riding again enabled me to lose more than 25 pounds of extra weight that had accumulated during the decade of not riding regularly. Thanks, Peter for changing my life for the better.
Over the years, I have purchased three recumbent machines from Peter: two bicycles and one tricycle. In each case, the machines I chose were different from the ones I picked out before testing.Recently, I brought two friends to Peter. They were accomplished cyclists who had not been able to ride in three years because of physical problems. He was able to fit their special needs and they are back on the road.Simply put, I cannot imagine going anywhere else even though it takes me 5 hours to drive there and entails an overnight stay.Im 82. My wife is 70. We plan to ride a century this fall.
I cannot praise these people enough. Peter and the gang were excellent. Their motto is try before you buy, and they have a stretch of side-road available for you to flounder around on. A wide selection of recumbents and trikes, and the staff will compare Linear (the in-house brand) and their competitors fairly. I couldnt be happier with their sales, selection and service.
Bicycle Man is my go-to source for hard to find Burley parts. Being one of those goofy bicycle collectors, I find myself needing weird parts for my aging fleet of bent bicycles, and I always know that Bicycle Man has my back. While they are in New York and I am in Oregon, I always know that the fastest way for me to get what I want at a reasonable price (and without awkward pauses and confusion from the sales staff when I explain the crazy thing I need) is to call the good people over there. These guys understand me and why I really do need 16 bicycles.
If you are interested in purchasing a recumbent, make the trip to Bicycle Man in Alfred Station. Its worth it! I traveled all the way from Manitoba Canada to try out the bents before I bought. I was glad I did. Fantastic people there and a beautiful area of the country.
Called them, described the situation and the part I needed. They had both the option I asked for (custom seat clips for a recumbent that is no longer sold) as well as a second option of a fully customized Burly seat (that they immediately emailed me pictures of)I went for the simple clips but wow what stellar service!

2022-03-29I bought my Cat Trike Expedition here 10 years ago. The only thing Ive done to it is ride it (over 3100 miles) and fix the flats. I called Peter one day, took it in the next! Lee made that ten year old machine ride like new. Its faster! Thank you! Tour de Teddi 22 here I come.

2022-04-01Stop! Dont even bother looking anywhere else but BicycleMan! Thier knowledge, patience, customer service and just general kindness is absolutly first rate!I am a retired guy who likes to fool with bicycles and recently bought a used Sun EZ-3 AX recumbent trike that sat outside for a while. After wasting my time with local shops and online sites trying to figure out pull ratios, compatibility of components, etc. one phone call to BicycleMan answered all my questions and got me all the right parts at a reasonable price too! Thank You especially to Stuart and Peter, you guys are a definite asset to your organization!

2021-06-06Decided to add my first trike to my collection of bikes. I have been riding recumbent 2 wheelers for years so didnt know much about trikes.First, the staff was awesome! I called and probably spent at least an hour on the phone asking questions before taking the 6 hr drive up. They answered ALL of my questions and some I never would have even thought of so I made the drive. They have a large number of brands and types of bikes and trikes and are knowledgeable about them all. After 3 hours, I left with my shiny new Azub!If you are looking for a bent, you cant go wrong with the team at Bicycleman! VERY worth the drive!

2021-05-26A top notch recumbent bicycle shop offering information, advice, and a selection of bikes and trikes on display. Their customer service is outstanding. Have purchased two recumbent bikes from the Bicycleman, one SWB, P38 5 years ago and a Rans Stratus XP last September. Two excellent bikes I use on alternate days. If your new to recumbent bikes check out their website filled with info on the subject.

2020-08-13Best bicycle shop I’ve ever used. I found just the perfect bike for my particular needs. I’ve purchased 2 recumbent road bikes from there. I have gotten amazing customer service, even on returns. It is 5 hours from my home. I would go nowhere else unless referred by Pete. Thank you 😊.

2020-02-26Excellent location to view, try, chat, and acquire a recumbent bike/trike. I drove down from Ontario, Canada, as I could not find a business up here where I could get my hands on the kind of recumbent bike that I wanted - I did not want a trike. Both Lee and Ben were of top notch assistance by making me feel welcomed and catering to all of my queries with a very apparent depth of knowledge and extensive experience. Each product I wanted to test ride was prepared and properly adjusted for me and at no time did I feel any pressure to buy. I ended up coming back home with a HP Velotechnik Street Machine loaded with accessories to boot! Very professional guys, thank you.Andre

2014-03-01I used The Bicycle Mans web site extensively while researching recumbent bikes & trikes. I was laid up for 18 months after being hit by a car so I had lots of time to surf the web. Peters web site provided excellent reviews on different manufacturers bikes and trikes. After healing up enough to ride my wife and I took a trip to the store and tried some bikes. It was a wonderful experience with lots of help and questions answered. The model I thought I wanted turned out to not be so good for me and after a couple of more visits I chose a different brand. After moving, my wife bought a trike in Florida from a shop that is mainly an upright bike store. It was assembled incorrectly. We took it to The Bicycle Man for service when we were back in NY and they repaired both hers and mine.Pluses: Great service, very knowledgeable, large selection of bike/trikes to try, friendly, unhurriedMinuses: They are located 5 miles past the end of no where. Plan a long trip no matter where you are located.

2014-03-01Pete and his team are the best. I was looking for a new Longbike Slipstream and they had one in stock. Everyone was very knowledgeable about all the recumbent bicycles they sell. They had a stock of the recumbent I was looking for along with all accessories I needed to outfit my new bike including a bicycle rack that fit a long wheel based recumbent. Pete and his staff are excellent to work with, they quickly respond to emails and follow up with any questions you may have. The bicycle man is a long drive from Tennessee however I am planning on purchasing my next bicycle from Pete. Thank you. Dr. G.
