The manager was so unbelievably rude. Accused me of having called before. I dont know how they have good ratings. I recommend you go anywhere else. Did not want to help or even talk to customers. Should fire the guy who claimed to be in charge. Go to literally any other place instead.
WONDERFUL experience here of first time shopping for a scooter. Jose went above and beyond -- he was so patient and helpful, answered all of my fiances questions and let her try driving the scooters around the store. She is thrilled with the scooter she picked and was able to bring it home the same day. We were both pleasantly surprised by how easy this was! I cannot imagine a better experience.
Crazy accident: broke a bone in my foot. Raging pain. These kind fellows delivered a knee scooter right to my apartment and adjusted it on the spot to the perfect height… and this on a hot Saturday summer afternoon! Their product and service could not be better. I so appreciate. Thank you Big Apple Mobility.
I had Big Apple Mobility Customer Service Rep. , Jose assist me with providing services for my Mothers electric wheelchair. I was absolutely Happy with the services provided , both by the repair technicians and Especially the Wonderful, Polite , Profesional and Friendly customer service provided by Jose. I would ABSOLUTELY HIGHLY REECCOMEND Big Apple Mobility to anyone who needs the services they provide. I give Jose and Big apple Mobility a 5 + STAR RATING!!!!!
I bought a Go -Go Sport scooter 9/11/19. I was so nervous about purchasing the right scooter for my needs, but Jose helped put me at ease right away with his A+ superior level of customer service. I was so very impressed by Joses level of expertise and knowledge and patience. He answered all of my questions to my satisfaction and with a smile, my delivery was on time and seamless ! Store manager Alex, Jose is a gem!
This place is possibly good to purchase an item and never have to deal with them, but DO NOT rent anything from them. I called them up and told them my mom was recently injured and that I needed a wheelchair. Eric quickly took my information and card number and said they would deliver it the morning before. I was never told there was a cancellation or to take my confirmation number, and use some sort of login portal where I can find a terms and conditions page. When I called to cancel, they said that I would be charged 50% of the rental because I was cancelling 3 days out. That was news to be as it was never stated on the phone. Eric was also exaggerating my need for the wheelchair as though they were doing me a favor. Thats not how you treat a paying customer. I should have used Chelsea Mobility as recommended by the hotel. Next time! In the meantime, going to have to dispute the charge.Save yourself time and stress. Do not rent from this place.
In my search for a place to rent an electric scooter I happened upon Big Apple Mobility. Its location won me over right away. I was actually blown away by how friendly the service was as well as the tutorial on how to operate the scooter. I was in and out of the store in less than 25 minutes. Not only was Johnathan helpful to my Dad and I, he really made for a less than stressful experience. As this was my Fathers first experience using this device. Being that this was over the Fathers day weekend. The staff helped make for memorable fathers day. I am grateful to them all. Theres no doubt that I will be dealing with them in the near future. With a special thanks going to the owner, Alex. Who is just as amicable as his staff. Thanks again you guys. See you again soon.
Jose and the store manager were so helpful, informative and responsive as my scooter’s batteries died my first day of five days in NYC. 🙃 I’m so grateful for their great customer service and fast installation of my new batteries. I highly recommend this company and was impressed by their excellent service and large showroom of scooters and chairs for purchase. 👍🏽😊😃🙏
Fantastic experience! The staff was very knowledgeable and helped me pick out the perfect scooter. José was exceptionally attentive and made the whole experience a joy. He also showed me how to dismantle the model I purchased, demonstrating how quickly someone can take it apart to put in a car trunk- it took him about 6 seconds flat. The staff made the purchase process a breeze--- by FAR the only scooter store I would ever recommend to someone looking for variety, service and price.
Broke my ankle one month before my NY trip and I could not cancel my flight. While arriving the New York City the first day in Time Square I found I could only use my crutch to walk for not more than 20 mins. The police on the street recommended this place and it saved my life!! I was riding on the wheelchair I rented from them for the rest of my 7 days trip ,everywhere in NY! It is so affordable and totally worth it. I even went on the Brooklyn Bridge in it and completed my WALK OF THE BRIDGE. Love it! Great service as well. Hopefully I will not need to use them AGAIN :D but if you have the similar situation with me they are the best choice.
I bought a Go-Go Sports at this store in 2014. It is the most durable mobility scooter I ever bought. It is still working like new. I do not forget also the quality of service provided in their facility. A place I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a good quality product and service.
My Dad needed a power wheelchair urgently. His needed repair and they were taking too long to fix it. Being that my dad is a double amputee, i was desperate, searched on Google and found Big Apple Mobility. The representative that resolved my dilemma, (Jose) was beyond helpful and patient. I called him about 4 times( back to back) for different reasons. Jose, (professional as he is) just continued to answer my questions as if it were our first call. I am extremely satisfied with the service, lets just be honest. I knew nothing of this and was confused, in unknown territory and Jose just took it in stride, helped me through the process and even went above and beyond and spoke to his delivery driver (who was kind enough to fit us in on his way home)deliver the chair for my dad that same day. ( They had too many deliveries that day).If youre looking for a rental and need quality, professional and courteous help, call Big Apple Mobility and ask for Jose.Thank you Jose.SincerelyCarmen Natal
This was my second time doing business with Big Apple mobility. The first time I brought a power cord for my mother’s scooter although I felt the power cord was a bit pricey it has being doing its job for two half years. Recently I needed to rent a scooter for a cruise vacation out of NYC. I placed an order the day before online because I had contacted them by phone the week before. When I got there to pick up the scooter it was there waiting for a swift transfer into my mini van. The staff was beyond helpful. I see myself doing business with them again. I also will be referring all my clients. I didn’t let them know I was a travel agent because I wanted to see how they truly treat their customers.
On Saturday July 19, 2014. we rented a mobility scooter for the day, from Big Apple Mobility. We could not have been more pleased with the product and the service. The reservation process online prior to rental was super easy. When we arrived at the business everything went absolutely smoothly! Eric was very pleasant and helpful.During the day we had a quick question and called the business number and they answered immediately and gave us the information we needed.I highly recommend this company!
This was my first time visiting NY. I injured my knee on the first night. The hotel we were staying at (The New Yorker) recommended Big Apple Mobility. I called at 9am and the Go-Go Scooter was in the hotel lobby by 11am and saved my trip. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Thank you!P.S. I have already recommended Big Apple Mobility to friends planning on visiting NY.
Thanks to Big Apple Mobility, I was able to enjoy NYC like everyone else. It took me everywhere we wanted to go. It was charged and waiting for me at my hotel when we checked in. Very reasonable price for 7 days. Easy maneuverability and could stop on a dime, which is very important when navigating the streets, sidewalks and various venues in NYC. I have absolutely no complaints and will rent a scooter from them again without reservation!
Big fan especially of Jose. My scooter broke down whilst I was visiting in 2014. After a long chat we decided I replace it. Today, five years later in 2019, I visited again to buy a new one, even though the old one is still going. Jose is friendly, fair, talks with you and tries to give you a good price. I live in London UK but like shopping with Big Apple Mobility. Great location, can try lots of scooters out and know they’re there. Thank you!
This is my 2nd time going to Big Apple Mobility. The first time was in 2013 when I purchased my first Pride Victory 10 mobility scooter. I went back on 11/18/2018 when my poor scooter was on its last wheels. The management was different and the location moved down the block. I met Jonathan and he was extremely helpful. He helped figure out what was the likely cause of my chairs issues ad gave me options. He even told me what chair would be best even if it meant not making a bigger profit. I ultimately bought a new Pride Victory 10 and Jonathan was great. He even said he would discard my old scooter. I would definitely shop there again as long as Jonathan still works there.
The wheelchair was disgusting. My hands were black and sticky as soon as I used it. It was a cheap wheelchair worth less than $200.00. It was missing a brake pad and pulled to the right. We ordered it online but because of the drop down menu, we had to call to give the correct address (two hotels, same company). When we arrived in the evening, the chair wasn’t there and we had tickets for 8:00 pm so I had to walk. We called and left messages twice. The next morning had tickets for 8:30 am so again, I had to get assistance to a bus, but could no longer get around and we called again. He argued it was at the other hotel and would not bring it to our hotel then had the gall to ask what kind of disability I had and how I was getting around without it. I said taxi and bus but he didn’t care.He also said he was charging for the days we didn’t use it and if I wanted it, I had to go to the other hotel. Even though we could prove with phone calling history that we had called from a Canada and NYC after we arrived and no one called back.It would have been cheaper to purchase the same chair and brought it with us for the 6 days. It was in such bad shape even after I cleaned it that it was almost impossible to wheel it by myself with the break always sticking.
I worked with Alex to secure a number of wheelchairs for a big annual event. I had never rented wheelchairs before, and Alex was so helpful and knowledgable throughout the whole process. He always took my frantic calls (sorry, Alex!) and was excellent about communication. On the day of the event, his staff was prompt, professional, and easy to work with. I cannot recommend Big Apple Mobility enough.
I rented a scooter for NYC and it was wonderful! I was able to get around and see the sights. I rode it all day and the charge never moved off of full charge. I have used several when traveling and I have never had one that performed as well as this one! Jonathon was very nice and accommodating. Thanks Jonathon! Thanks Big Apple Mobility!
They were extremely easy to pick up a wheel chair from! I needed to pick up a wheelchair day of and needed to adjust my drop off time. Both things were a breeze. They were flexible and generous! Very conveniently located near all of the major transportation hubs- great for a broken-foot visitor like me. The wheel chair was also in great shape and fit in all of my Ubers.
Loved the attention and support and EASE that Big Apple Mobility helped with - we had an emergency on tour - and needed a wheelchair asap on a Sunday evening. Big Apple stayed open until 6pm to help me out! Incredible - I spoke with John & Eric and they made everything easy - they helped me pick up a chair that I was comfortable with - no deposit, no long exhaustive forms to fill out - it was just that easy. Put your credit card down, and away you go. THEY EVEN DO DELIVERY & PICK UP - I just left the chair at the hotel and they picked it up after we left for the day :) I was happy to know that the hotel we used (3* near times square) knew Big Apple well and guaranteed that I would not have to worry about a thing. If youre a tour operator, THIS is a number I would keep in my back pocket ALWAYS. Thanks again Big Apple Mobility - you were fantastic.
One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. My 95 year-old father desperately needed his wheelchair repaired and we were not only stood up for numerous appointments, promised repairs and service and ultimately we were completely ignored by José. I had to fix the wheelchair on my own. I really thought this was despicable. To leave a 95 year old man without this vital equipment is completely inexcusable. Avoid this horrible company.
I was very disappointed with the overall standard of service from big apple mobility during my holiday in New York. The electric wheelchair I rented wouldn’t charge after using it for one day it ruined our holiday as it limited where we could go. The wheelchair was supposed to be delivered at 9 and didn’t arrive on time we had to cancel plans which we had booked. The company never got back in touch with us after we left a few messages with them how rude. The wheelchair should have been collected on the 27th May and it still hasn’t been picked up in the afternoon when I left to return home from my holiday on the 29th of May. We spoke with the manager eventually and he was very rude and argumentative he lacked the simplest of customer service when the customer should come first. They also said they don’t get messages and the answer machine doesn’t work on bank holidays apparently very convenient. I would not use this company as they will more than likely let you down gigantically.
I had a great experience renting a manual wheelchair for a visiting guest not able to walk far distances. It was easy and quick to rent and retrieve the wheelchair from the store, which was clean, calm and well lit. I feel the price was fair and I happily paid an extra $10 for them to pick it up from my guests hotel the day she checked out (no need to be there, leave with bell captain). I was able to fold and put the wheelchair inside both NYC taxis and Uber cars.Tip: my experience was you can fit the standard wheelchair at least (for persons less than 175lb) inside a Toyota Camry trunk (which are common for those services) if you take off the footrests - they are easy to remove, just slip off their posts.
Very happy - The concierge of our hotel organised for an electric scooter from Big Apple Mobility to arrive before we did.It was there waiting for us and was just what we needed. When we called to extend for a few days it was no problem at all.Phone calls answered promptly and Eric is very friendly and accomodating. The price was very competitive. We wouldnt hesitate to recommend Big Apple Mobility.
Ive been going to Big Apple Mobility for many years, since I started using mobility scooters. Alex is especially helpful and theyve given me great advice on scooter selection. Service is also great, quick and helpful. For anyone who needs a scooter, Big Apple is a great place to go for assistance.
Excellent service. I highly recommendIf you need mobility equipmentVery good valueVery helpful staff who explained processNeeded to rent a wheelchair for visiting ffamily member. Large selection to choose fromYou can call up or order onlineI called as my first time doing a rentalStaff very helpful, and clear. They delivered wheelchair as orderedGood wheelchair to use on the streetWould definitely use again if I needThey also sell equipment
Visited wheelchair shop for the first time. Made my first wheelchair purchase without the assurance of medicaid. I like my new chair .Very smooth on sidewalks and across the streets If you want to buy your own transportation, pay for it yourself because going through the process from your medical insurance plan takes too long and they only pay for cheap parts.
We rented a wheelchair to take my visiting 90 year old grandmother for a walk through Central Park and to a broadway Show. Big Apple Mobility was the only place open on a Sunday and the service I received was quick and friendly. Pick up and drop off was effortless. I definitely recommend and would use them again!
I rented a power wheelchair for three days during a recent trip to NYC. The reservation over the phone was friendly and efficient, the chair was at the hotal when I arrived, the chair performed flawlessly and the return involved only giving the chair to the bellman. The pricing was competitive. Nicely done!
We flew in for vacation and my daughter’s wheelchair was damaged. It’s a speciality chair and she is 100% reliant on this assistive technology. They got us in same day, and returned the chair repaired by a professional the next morning. They even offered a rental if needed. Incredible! Thank you Jose.
Im grateful this service exists but Alex is certainly not a nice person to deal with. When I called him to extend my 5 days initial rental for two more days, he said he would charge me $20 dollars per day. Their website says $10 for Each Additional Day. Apparently that doesnt apply to extensions. When I said that I wish it was stated more clearly, he replied in a very nasty tone: I dont have to. I can terminate you contract tomorrow and charge you another $175 if you want to keep it. By the way, I was never presented with any contract. Although he immediately charged my card for $40 dollars, either he forgot or cannot count. The next day he sent his people to pick the scooter up and left me three very angry messages because nobody was home. He even charged my card with an additional $30 dollars than Im still waiting to get back. After I made him count the days, he realized he had made a mistake and offered to reverse the charge but I never heard an apology. On the other hand, Jose, the delivery guy, couldnt be nicer. Alex should learn from his staff.
This place is an absolute nightmare. If you’re thinking of going here -- take the time to read my review. is is an absolute train wreck of a business -- a huge bait-and-switch waste of timeThe starter switch on my 2-year-old mobility scooter actually came off in my hand. But I could see there were two wires that just needed to be soldered back onto the switch. I called around for half a day trying to find someone who does scooter repairs - and who wasn’t going to try to sell me a $149 diagnostic package to tell me what I already knew. But then - I got Eric from Big Apple Mobility on the phone. I explained my situation -- and he said it sounded like something they could fix if I brought it in -- and yes, it was possible to do the same day. But that I would need to call back and talk to José the technician to be sure.I called three times that afternoon trying to talk to Jose-- who always seemed to be “out for 10 minutes”. That should’ve been my first clue that this was a bad idea. Finally, on the third try, José came to come to the phone. I explained my situation, told him I could even email him pictures if he wanted - but I really needed to be able to bring the scooter in and have it fixed the same day. José told me he didn’t sound like it was going to take much at all to fix, and if I could bring it in after 11 AM any weekday he would be able to get to it within a couple hours. I then asked him how much it would cost. He answered somewhere between $50 and $100 -- in cash -- depending on how long it took him to fix it.So the next day, before we got ready to drive into Manhattan, I decided just to be safe to call back and make sure that José was in. Unbelievably he actually answered the phone, and said “I remember you - no problem, you can bring it in today”. Two hours later, we got to the store, and my wife first carried in the base with the steering column -- and was met at the counter by Eric. She told him it was the broken key switch job her husband had talked to José about having it repaired. He said, okay, if you don’t need a full diagnostic test I guess you don’t need to bring in all five pieces. But José had just stepped out, and he probably wouldn’t be back for at least a half an hour. So just leave it and come back in a couple of hours. So, my wife got back in the car, and we drove around in one-way rectangles from street to street for two hours. Until I finally called to make sure that the repair was done. And then the nightmare really started. José told me that he needed to do a diagnostic test. And since we didn’t authorize the test -- which would be an upfront cost -- he couldn’t even look at the switch. I reminded him we had talked last night and he told me to bring it in and he could just fix the switch. José replied no, I can’t do that, the boss won’t let me do anything like that, everything has to have a total inspection first. Plus he probably didn’t even have the right part. I reminded him that I had all of the parts -- all they needed was to be put back together again. He said we don’t fix parts. We have to order them -- and then fix the scooter. But we can rent you a loaner scooter while you’re waiting for yours to be repaired.I stopped talking to José because I couldn’t stand it anymore. Talking to Eric again would’ve been a waste of time as well -- because he would’ve told me he’s just the front desk guy. You need to talk to José. This place is an absolute train wreck of a business -- a huge bait-and-switch waste of time -- that anybody in their right mind should totally avoid at all costs. If I could give them “0” stars – I would have. Because there is absolutely nothing that they did that could possibly score them even “1”star.
These people are the best. I found them as the were in the next block from my hote ... so I gave them a shot..... the staff was more than helpful...... they were more than willing to answer all my questions about available products even though I was a vacationing rental customer. .....You can bet I will be using Big Apple Mobility on my next NYC trip.....
Delivery went well, and he showed me how to get the scooter apart for taxi transportation. However, the seat turns out to weigh 20 lbs and the two of us couldnt pick it up. I called & complained and they did provide a number for transportation that you didnt need to take scooter apart, but that was so inconvenient not practical. Big waste of money, and when asked for pick up gave us a 5 hour window so theres another day wasted. Big disappointment.
Right off Times Square, theyre there when you need them! My mother-in-law couldnt walk far enough to keep up with my NYC touristing style, but thanks to BAM, we covered the city, just as though she could walk with us! Super friendly staff, and reasonably priced same-day rentals!
When I was looking to do the order on line, it still showed modify, so I thought I didt actually made it. After I went to Amazon and it was cheaper to buy it than rent it. They showed an hour after I made the reservation, one day BEFORE the reservation, and they did not allowed me to cancel it, because they already delivery, even when they did it was ahead the schedule time.I said I would pay the delivery, that I no longer need it, but they said that it was no possible.I did not like the service.I guess if you need it is ok, ot is fast., but they should allow to cancel the reservations.
I called this location and the guy asked what i was looking for and i stated i was looking to purchase a wheelchair. He gave me wrong directions. When i finally arrived he seemed eager to sell anything. I asked questions about a particular wheelchair but he stood in silence as if he was deaf then got upset when i left. I informed him that he didnt explain anything. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHWRE.
Very worn equipment. I had a battery problem where the battery gauge was malfunctioning and shutting off periodically, which made me nervous crossing busy streets. They did deliver a new wheelchair ( that was very rickety) the next afternoon, but they would not reimburse any of the fee despite me having a whole day without the use of a wheelchair and having to stay in the apartment.
Scooter fineDrop off not as arrangedCollection not as arrangedDeposit taken from card without authority and not returned as yet - since they know were international clients cant see that being returned.......no way of contacting them on website other than by phone......
We spent 4 amazing days in NY in big part thanks to BIG APPLE MOBILITY. My father (83) had both hips replaced and to walk long distances is not so easy for him. Erick and Jose were super nice and helpful for us to accommodate even without reservation. The scooter we rented changed the trip as we were able to get everywhere....Equipment in good conditions, clean, and the battery life was more than enough for our daily walks.I recommend who need mobility devices as us, to choose buses over metro stations to walk around. Unfortunately for NY, most of the Metro stations elevators are out of service.*****************We spent 4 incredible days in NY largely thanks to the service provided by BIG APPLE MOBILITY. My dad (83) had a hip replacement and walking long distances is not easy for him. Erick and José were super nice and helpful with us even though we didnt have a reservation. The equipment we rented completely changed our trip, as we were able to go everywhere, all together. Equipment in very good condition, clean and the battery was more than enough for our daily walks.I recommend that people who need wheelchairs and scooters to get around choose to travel by bus instead of the subway. Unfortunately for NYC, in many of the stations that claim to be handicapped accessible, the elevators dont work.
Excellent service, they are the best vibes, friendly and willing to help Jose deserves a Oaxaca cheese haha for being so helpful and so accessible, without a doubt the best option to enjoy the ride if something like that is occupied either due to reduced mobility or inability
Wonderful experience!!! I could not go for a recent operation and renting a scooter in big apple mobility has been a very good solution. With the scooter I have been able to visit EVERYTHING in New York, but I have not been able to enter an exhibition submarine !! Highly recommended for those who may have mobility problems.

2021-10-01My Pride mobility scooter stopped on me, and thats how I get around and live my life so I really needed one, I called up this business and within hours I was at their shop test driving and choose a new one. The guys working there Alex and Jose are the absolute best. Very helpful and dont ever rush you on your choices. They have all types of scooters to choose from and they make sure youre happy with your choice. Initially I went to rent a scooter but instead I bought a new one. This Mobility Scooter business Rocks! I got a Pride Victory 10.5 it has 4 wheels and is a power house, I love my new scooter!

2022-06-28Big Apple Mobility is wonderful - their staff is very kind and accommodating, and they are easy to communicate and work with. We place a large rental order with them every year for Pride weekend, and they always accommodate us and go the extra mile to help with drop off and pick up - even with all the crowds and traffic. Highly recommend renting from them!

2022-08-10I have used Big Apple Mobility 3x now for my elderly father when he comes to visit me in NYC. They have always been super reliable, customer service is A+, and the electric scooters are good quality. We had an issue with our last scooter, and they arranged pickup/dropoff of the swap with the new scooter at no additional cost, which I appreciated VERY much. You can either pay $30 for delivery/pickup or pickup at their 37th street storefront for free. Highly recommend Big Apple Mobility to help you scoot around the NYC concrete jungle!

2022-08-08This is the worst place ever I call to request a wheel chair and I ask them before purchasing would they able to pick up the wheel chair after the 48 hours at the hotel where I was staying they said yes and never mentioned about a charge for picking it up until the last day of return they said they’ll be able to pick it up for a extra 25 dollar charge from my location which in driving distance is 10 mins!! DON’T COME HERE

2018-06-23This was a wonderful experience from the start to the finish. I chose them at the recommendation of the bellman and am very glad I did. Everything was handled by phone and the Pride Victor (which the staff helped me pick out and was perfect size for me) was waiting at the Crown Plaza Times Square when I checked in. We left it at the front desk when we left five days later (we left before they opened) and they picked it up as promised. The scooter was well worn, but it looked and operated flawlessly. I rode it from the hotel to Carnegue Hall and it never came off full charge, neither did it after a full day of exploring the 9/11 museum area and a day of sightseeing (which was handicap accessible). Incidentally, the seat was more comfortable than Carnegue Halls seats and they had a spot just the right size for it). It had a short learning curve because it had a speed adjustment dial as well as the lever on the handle. It was nice that the key was easily removable which made me feel more secure in restaurants etc. The Grey Line on and off touring buses accommodated it easily and had a special spot to park it on the first floor of the bus. Just go to the head of the line where the bus stops and they load one wheelchair per bus (so you may have to wait if there is more than one which was rare). Everyone I talked with were extremely friendly and helpful. We highly recommend them, with my mobility problems sightseeing in NY would have been impossible.

2021-09-10I have rented a wheelchair from Big Apple Mobility twice now to help get my elderly neighbor to doctors appointment and the experience has been fantastic! Just fill out the form on their website with your order and presto! they deliver the wheelchair right to the apartment building. They are always on time and the pick up is perfect, too. Today they even called me to verify that it was still ok to do the pick up and gave me a 1 hour time window when theyd arrive - they came and got it right on time. Everyone Ive spoken to on the phone or met as delivery men have been so friendly and helpful. Big thumbs up and strongly recommend them!!!

2021-06-16Excellent service!!! We flew to New York and when we got off the plane our scooter didn’t work. We took it to the store and even though they didn’t do repairs, they helped us to try to figure out what was wrong with the battery. We got it working, but only long enough to get it back to the hotel. The next day we went back to rent a scooter and it worked perfectly and we were able to enjoy our trip. Would definitely recommend!
