I had a lot of questions and logistical hurdles to complete my move in Manhattan during the pandemic. Big Johns was always available to take my call and address my concerns in a patient, professional, and comprehensive way. If you call their office number, ask for Sophie because she especially helpful -- I talked to her about everything including getting an estimate, form of payment, and finalizing a refund amount because Big Johns completed the move quicker than initially anticipated. I was also given a 10% discount because my family had used Big Johns for a prior move. One thing to note: Id recommend looking over the receipts provided to you and reviewing the different charges because it was initially unclear to me where some of the charges came from. Nothing nefarious on their end, but I felt a lot better after talking through the charges with Sophie rather than just blindly accepting the various amounts on the receipts. Overall, very happy with the promptness, professionalism, and overall quality of the move and would recommend Big Johns to others moving in Manhattan.
Big John’s Moving moved my office from one location to another today. The four man team were professional, courteous, prepared, efficient and on time. The team was exceptional! They would not leave either location until I was completely satisfied that all was complete.I am in the position to recommend Big John’s Moving to other clients. I will recommend them highly. I highly recommend Big Johns Movers. Ive used them twice in five years. As soon as I phoned, they sent an personal estimator to my home, who gave me a full assessment of costs. I had to change details and moving dates, several times, yet staff was courteous, professional, cooperative and helpful.Both moves went well and I even received a refund check , when they decided estimate was less. I had used Big Johns many years ago and had been very pleased with all aspects of the move. So when I needed to move my mother from Philadelphia to RI I gave them a call. The crew that they sent were, once again, professional and a delight to work with. They were punctual, fast and exceedingly careful. And on top of that their price was excellent, in fact they came in slightly under their estimate! I cant recommend them enough!
Big Johns makes moving super easy. As soon as you book them, theyre already on it sending each building COIs and making sure all are aware of them coming. The guys moving are pro and really nice. I have an exceptionally large couch, which didnt fit in the elevator, so they carried it up 5 flights of stairs without complaints. And when that failed to fit, they carried it two more flights up to use a higher ceiling and carry it across to the other set of stairs! Again they were all super nice and positive throughout it all.Cost was in the range of what I expected and cheaper than a few other companies I looked at.
Had a great moving experience from NYC to Pennsylvania with Big Johns. They were incredibly fast, efficient, friendly and professional. Even moving furniture up a winding staircase they didnt scratch the paint, nor hit furniture against walls or banisters. Would definitely highly recommend them!

My husband and I just relocated from NYC to Florida. Big Johns was highly recommended and we were pleased that we used them. The movers were professional, courteous and very accommodating. They worked as a team, each with their designated role. i.e. the estimator, Michael with his plethora of knowledge about efficient moving who visited us at home, to the mover coordinator Luis who meticulously numbered each parcel, carefully wrapped items with a smile and physically moved our belongings with his caring team - Paul, Freddie and Alex - he checked off our items from the truck before unloading them. Our family has recently used Big John’s for the third time in 10 years. The first two moves were from Manhattan to Brooklyn and then Brooklyn to New Jersey. Most recently Big John’s have moved our belongings from New Jersey to Oakland CA. I cannot say enough good things about them! From accurate and faithful estimates of moving costs to professional and courteous service from every single person I dealt with - Big John’s is a phenomenal company in my opinion. I’m in the process of unpacking our boxes and not one thing has been damaged. This is quite remarkable given the distance etc our things have traveled - more than one person has told us to expect some damage as a matter of course with a move of this kind. So again, thank you to Big John’s for making the stressful circumstances of moving as pleasant as possible. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them for any move big or small.
We have moved every 1.5/2 years for the last decade, Big Johns moved us last week and they are hands down the best moving company we have ever used. They were quick, careful (nothing broke) and professional. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to move.
Very professional and transparent in pricing/billing. The movers arrived on time, friendly and accommodating. When items arrived nothing was damaged or missing. My family has been using Big John’s for all moves, for the past 20 Years, and we will continue to do so.
As someone who almost never posts a review, I am eager to write one endorsing Big Johns Moving. Heres why...When Covid-19 shut down NYC, we never imagined that my daughter would not be back in the City until 2021. So, when her lease was running out in May, and she decided not to renew, we began to search for a reputable mover. Another Floridian recommended Big Johns who helped her daughter move out just as things were shutting down in NYC. Honestly, I had little faith in movers before this move and figured a move-out that was completely in the hands of total strangers was likely to be a disaster (we did not go to NYC to oversee the move). I was completely wrong and my perceptions of movers has been turned around!I couldnt have nicer things to say about BJM. From Sophie who answer the phone with a smile and is extremely well-informed...to the movers who packed my Ds items and moved the contents of the 1B apartment into storage... to the driver who delivered to our home in south Florida her boxes filled with sheets, towels, clothes and coats...everyone was professional, helpful, and exceeded expectations. The boxes arrived in Florida well-ahead of schedule, pictures were sent of her items in the storage unit in Brooklyn along with pictures of the truck being loaded as it left the apartment (before heading to storage). Nobody missed a beat. Nothing was missing or damaged. No hidden fees appeared out of nowhere.Call Sophie at BJM. I hope she exceeds your expectations too.
A family member recommended them and used them twice. My second time using them and I would probably use them in the future. Although, I dont plan to move any time soon. They showed up on time. The first time I used them for a very short move. The second time I used them for a longer move.The staff was professional. Fernandez one of the movers was very nice and a hardworker. The price was higher than the quote.
Third time using Big Johns Moving. Always a positive experience from the front office to the moving crew. The front office is always on top of things and the moving crew is the definition of professional. They arrive on time and packed my belongings with care.
AWESOME JOB! The best movers I have ever dealt with. They cranked out a 3 bedroom in record time. Professional team and so careful with everything. They worked their tails off for 8 straight hours. I cannot recommend highly enough.

This is 4th move with a Big Johns since 2016 and I can unequivocally say I have never had any follow-up issues. Every move was executed in a timely manner, quote was completely transparent and return customers are given discounted quotes.
They are the ONLY people I trust in regards to both moving and storage. Accommodating, personal, and genuinely good, honest people. Anytime that I have had to use other companys, it has been most unpleasant at the very least. Moving is rough enough. Big Johns shines.
People, stay away of this company. They hide facts that boss and employee COVID19 Positive. Me, my friends get sick right after visiting this company. One employee said that boss get covid and did not tell anyone.

2022-08-08When I was looking for movers to relocate me from Yonkers, NY to Florida I was shocked by all the horrow stories associated with moving companies. I chose Big Johns moving based on the price and the excellent reviews by scores of customers.I am pleased to announce that I am another pleased customer. The movers arrived on time and were a pleasure to work with. They were courteous and extremely helpful.They arrived in Florida at the projected time and again were courteous and helpful. The put the furniture together (beds, tables,etc) and even helped me put coasters on the legs of the furniture to avoid scraping the wooden floors.I strongly advise anyone planning a move to contact Big Johns Moving. You will have a hard time finding a better company,

2022-03-28This is the 3rd time we have used Big Johs Moving, INC and we highly recommend them, especially for out-of-state moves. They never disappoint with how prompt and professional and caring they are when handling and moving your personal belongings. If you plan to move, use BIG JOHNS and you will not regret it. There were a number of people involved from the staff answering the phones and scheduling the appointments, to the sales people visiting for estimates and finally to the movers and drivers themselves who packed and moved all the heavy furniture and boxes. 2021-09-13We just worked with Big Johns to move my 84 year old mother from New York to North Carolina a very stressful move for her. We got quotes from several movers, but Big Johns stood out amongst the competition. Starting with Nick, the Irish sales rep, who was amazing with my mom. He treated her politely and respectfully and did not rush her. He also provided a very reasonable quote, explaining everything clearly to my mother and again later to me. I was so impressed, we signed with them right away. The weeks before the move, Sophie and team at the main office were always responsive and professional, keeping us informed along the way. On the day of the move, Porfirio and his team arrived punctually and were outstanding - professional, polite, friendly - even the building staff in NY was happy with how carefully they managed the move. And despite the Ida storm which had just hit the NY area, they delivered 6 days later in NC, on a Sunday, day of our choosing. Again, they arrived right on time, Porfirio and his guys unloaded with great care and set everything up. Everything arrived in great shape. Nothing broken or damaged. The final quote was exactly what was bid up front. There were no surprises and they did everything they said they would do. This is truly an outstanding company made up of a wonderful team of people!

2022-06-23Did not use them for moving, but went to buy moving supplies. Biggest ripoff in the entire world. They charge triple the amount of Home Depot and Lowes. Buy your moving supplies somewhere else.

2021-10-18This is the 4th time Ive used Big Johns Moving. They have moved my household 3 times. I also had items in storage for 23 months . I have never had any problems withthe moving crews or the quality of the work. After 23 months in storage my furniture, etc, was in perfect condition.I highly recommend Big Johns for both moving & storage.

2021-03-20Wonderful stress free experience. The best movers Ive ever had and Ive had many. They packed my furniture carefully along with some other items. Both crews were friendly, courteous and caring. Management kept in touch and stuck to the price quoted me...no hidden charges or surprises. Big Johns is the only mover I would ever use in the future. I will higjly recommend them to anyone I know.

2021-05-11I’ve moved twice with Big John’s. Both times they were prompt and professional. The movers are good with last-minute packing challenges. They’re fast. Nothing was ever lost or got broken in either move. Both times the end price was less than the quoted price so they promptly refunded me the difference. Highly recommend Big John’s!

2021-05-27I always turn to Big Johns for any-size move and Ive never been disappointed. This move was a big one; it took us at least 6 weeks to pack and, on the day of the move, the Big Johns crew packed our valuables and installed everything in our new apartment without a chip, a break, a misplaced item. Bravo to this hard-working, professional, coordinated, friendly team!
