Great company. Frank was right on time with wonderful communications. We moved to pianos the same day with great precision. I was totally surprised by the price I was quoted. Totally competitive. Plus Frank and his workers were extremely polite. I can recommend Frank and big piano movers with complete confidence. I will definitely use him again! - Jeffrey Reid Baker
Reasonable and Efficient!Frank was very easy to deal with; he immediately gave me a price that was a very good deal. The movers arrived at the pick-up on-time, and completed both the pick-up and the delivery with speed and efficiency. All things considered, you would be hard- pressed to find better piano movers.
Save your time and your money: it was the best FLAT RATE I got, after calling 12 other piano moving companies! On top of that, they were very polite and asked no tips (as I was told some of them do). I talked with Frank twice on the phone and he was very polite and professional. He works with 2 very strong guys. They were very carefull wrapping and carrying my 1962 YAMAHA GRAND piano yesterday from The News Building (midtown) to Forest Hills! And yes, there were some stairs on the way but it was not an issue for those very strong, professional, careful and polite guys. I do recommend them.
Frank and his assistant moved a console piano from midtown manhattan to my house two hours upstate, and moved my old piano to another house a few miles down the road. They were friendly, professional, and relatively punctual. I say relatively only because they werent so great when it came to calling and giving a heads-up as to when they would be arriving. However, if that isnt such an issue for you, then I can wholeheartedly recommend them--their prices are very reasonable.
I hired Frank, the owner of Big Piano Movers, to move a grand piano. Should have been an easy job. He said they would arrive between noon-2pm. I asked for 30 minutes heads up. They arrived early with no notice. They wouldnt even wait 10 minutes. They left without moving the piano, and I had ALREADY PAID THEM! Now I have to see about cancelling a check. DO NOT USE BIG PIANO MOVERS. They are thieves.
I am writing on behalf of a pianist friend, who was hassled by this company. She had them move her piano to their storage for a month. When she wanted her piano back, they keep delaying the delivery and later charged additional storage fee. They had also attempted to deliver out of scheduled time, always a day before what they had agreed. One delivery was on Labor day and the building didnt have anyone to facilitate the move. The third time, also one day too early, my friend happened to be home. The workers demanded cash payment including an overcharge of over $250 before unloading the piano. Same as last reviewer, they threatened to leave without the cash. My friend was so tired of dealing with them and paid what they asked. The contact person has been very discreet (hidden phone number) and rude on the phone, and would cut off randomly. As a piano technician myself, this is very unprofessional and disrespectful to clients. Piano should to be assembled before payment is made. Please avoid hiring this company.
These guys were good, very good. Ive used them on at least 3 moves, if not more. However, my opinion of them has significantly declined after today. After a highly successful move of a grand piano, one fly in the pudding was they decided to inform me that they now were cash only. Alright, no problem, right? Well, there are no ATMs in the area that function. So, I decide to bring to the drivers attention that I, on foot, have no means to quickly obtain $350 in cash, and additionally, was never informed by the owner of the company or him that it was cash only. Well, the driver gets the brilliant idea, the numbskull that he is, to constructively deal with this situation by threatening to take the piano back, because its not his problem that no one ever told me it was cash only. Eventually, the venue paid the driver, BY CHECK, and both the owner of the company and the driver denied ever once receiving payment by check for past jobs (despite doing so less than 3 weeks ago on a past job). And, while Im here writing this, I may as well mention the move was rescheduled from the day before because when I called the owner about the progress of the job I had called in 3 days previous, he said he had no record of it....I gave him my name, a contact number, point A and B, and an agreed upon rate. Had no record of any of it. 0 stars. Would not recommend.
There are two members of this team, John and Frank. I spoke to John on the price, and John told me $295.00 to move my upright piano. Thought it was a great price. Then the drama comes, Frank delivers my piano with 2 of his assistants. The 2 guys were great, while Frank bullies them to move faster! (what a jerk) anyway, the job gets done, and now its time to settle the bill....well to my dismay, Frank charges me $325.00 plus tolls??? What tolls are there between Bayside, Queens and Bay Shore, Long Island?? I told him, nope! The price is $295.00 and thats what I gave them! Frank got so mad, he sped off my property and didnt wait to close the truck, and a piano bench flew out of the truck. Oh, did I mention, they lost my bench! So I have someone elses bench! Stay away from Frank, maybe John might be better!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They moved and stored my piano for me. When my piano was delivered after being stored for two months, they forgot to bring the bench that went with the piano. I paid them the amount due and they said the bench would be delivered the next week. I have struggled to get in touch with them for a month to get my bench delivered, they are now claiming I owe them additional money, when I try to discuss it with Frank he hangs up the phone on me. I tried to call again today and he screamed and cursed at me and hung up.THESE PEOPLE ARE TERRIBLE AND SCARY. JUST WANT YOUR MONEY. DO NOT USE.
These movers are the worst. The owner is terribly rude and yells over the phone. Often there is no response. They are also sloppy and left huge knocks in the doorframe which I have to replace, scratched the floor which has to be resanded and left scratches and dirt in the paint in the walls. If you do not want to add major stress, expense and time for repairs to your life, avoid this company . They should not be in business and do not care about client relationships or damage to personal property. I wish I had never allowed them in my home . Do yourself a huge favor and look further or pay extra for better service. I am sorry this is not the first review

2022-08-10The salesman, Brian, promised $35,000 liability insurance and gave the cell number for contact and said that there will be 4 movers and that he will be here to supervise the move too. However, after I hang up the phone, he did not answer my call nor text. We have no idea whether the movers will be here or not. We thought the movers are not going to come. They did come in the said time range. The team starts disassemble the grand piano without showing us the promised contract. After I asked for the contract. The contract only has $5000 liability insurance. And, we only got 3 movers, not 4. And, that makes the 2 workers work extra hard to get the piano moved. They pulled our stairs handrails so hard that the railings are on the edge of being yanked out of the stairs. Thank Goodness, nothing broke. Will I hire them again? probably not.

2022-05-23I just had the best experience with Frank, Luis and Mr.El Tigre. I had their help going up a narrow staircase with a tight turn about 8 years back. 8 years later, I was ready to move again and this time I went with a large moving company who promised me they had professionals who could move my 54” upright Yamaha along with my other belongings. Because this was such a big move, I figured it made the most sense to go to a one stop shop. Moving day came and went and they moved everything but the piano. They just said they couldn’t do it and left it at that. I was running the risk of having to pay another month’s rent if I didn’t find a way to get the piano out on time. I should’ve just called Frank. Well, I ended up calling Frank and he came to the rescue. They protected the piano, maneuvered the narrow stairs and tight turn with ease, got it on the truck and moved everything to the new location, unscathed in about 1 hour. I would highly recommend Frank and his friendly crew for any piano moving job. They were flexible, worked with me and were extremely efficient. They turned a nightmare move into a dream.--edit - heres a small detail that I wanted to add. The previous movers had the piano all wrapped. I told Frank that he could just move it as is. Being the perfectionist he is, he felt around the plastic and noticed Weak points where the piano wasnt fully covered in the blanket underneath. Without a question he had the piano unwrapped and re-wrapped to his specifications. Highly, highly recommend.

2022-01-01I’m the owner of Prosper Pianos, a small piano store in Bedstuy, Brooklyn. For the last 5 years, Big Piano Movers have been my preferred movers. They are by far the most reasonably priced and most experienced piano movers in the area.Due to the nature of difficulty with piano moving, unforeseen circumstances can arise-rest assured that his crew is knowledgeable, experienced and kind. They will safely deliver your instrument. They are also insured (for buildings that require such certification). Some of the more disparaging reviewer‘s here fail to acknowledge that there are not a lot of other companies that do piano moving and typically charge almost double the rate-this company provides a vital service to musicians and institutions in New York City and I highly recommend considering them for a piano move.

2021-07-10If you want to pay to dealt with badly, then look no further. The first time I used them was WONDERFUL. They took great care of moving my piano to a temporary space in the midst of cold February 2021 weather. I tipped them beyond 20% and knew that I would return to them once I closed on the purchase of my house. Fast forward to the last week of June: we committed to move the piano to my new home on a specific date, specific time, and I was given a specific rate. I called on the morning of the piano move and was rudely told that it wasnt going to happen. Suffice to say, I was shocked. I told Frank I had taken off work and made other time arrangements. Instead of working with a repeat client to make this right, his customer service response was to hang up, not return my phone call or text messages. Im giving 3 stars because the first experience was very good, but the 2nd experience was deplorable.

2018-09-11Do hire Frank, bought a piano on craigslist that needed to be moved ASAP, within two hours they were picking it up. Brought immediately to my location. Packaged very well, it was a difficult move, had to walk down 2 flights of stairs. Came in perfect condition, very professional and kind movers. I think it is always a good idea to ask before a service how payment is required. Cash payment, went to ATM, no problems. Only after unpacking and positioning the piano payment was asked for.
