No stars would be best. With 2 people ahead of me . I t took them 1 hour to serve 2 clients and finally sell me basic stuff. Prices on website look appealing, but when you get in - everything is expensive. They were trying to sell me old , breaking apart tire as a new one. With bicycles being unsecured, they are falling on the other bicycles and the floor. Seriously inspect your bikes when taken away from this store. Makeup artists are running this place. Not recommended if you like your bicycle just a little bit. They focus more on you wearing mask than business. They don’t even have proper bicycle’s chains. Waste of time . If you like cheap talk. “The mechanic isn’t here today. He might be here tomorrow...” and tomorrow belongs to Better run stores .
Terrible Bike shop, customer service very poor, stay away from this shop guys!!!! I bought a brand new bike for my son and went to this place for adjustment of brakes, of course they’re not able to fix it and blamed the bike saying it was cheap. It’s $160, if it was cheap for them, at least tell us from the beginning that it cannot be fixed since it is cheap but they present themselves as very experienced guys. I wish there is a negative 10 stars for this dodo heads.
DONT LEAVE YOUR BIKE!!! I leave my bike knowing the price before I leave it. Came back for picking it up, turns now it cost almost THE DOUBLE OF WHAT WE ARRANGED!!!! I say why and he answer me that it most have been other bike, other owner, other person! This guys was the one who gave me a FIX PRICE!Looks like It totally depends of the likes of the BIKE SHOP WHO GETS THE BEST PRICE!I work with this bike I don’t have that much money it’s wrong to charge whatever comes out of your mouth and pretend that it’s ok.DONT GO, DOTN PAY IN ADVANCE!PS. Correction, not even the job is well done! Already having PROBLEMS WITH THE BREAKS!
Extremely poor service at front. The store lies and has excuses for failure to fix simple problems or order common parts. Had to take bike to a shop in Brooklyn where it was fixed in a day. This store had me waiting for weeks with excuses. They lack basic tools to fake measurements or get proper fit for parts. Front man is always lying and making up stories blaming manufacturers while parts available on eBay or wholesalers online. Ok for basics not good for anything beyond flat repair and tire change.
Ive been there like four time and I had enough, never come back again, customer service is awful specially from carlos rolling is eyes if you ask something about the bikes, sarcastic comments instead of helpful responses and I want to be sure he, the hispanic guy carlos read this, I called him out yesterday why are you mad if I asks about the brand new chain that you changed moments ago? He said O no it wasnt you, I have a lot going on bla bla bla obviously when no one was around but seriously he could improve a lot his customer service and stop the eyes rolling and sarcastic comments.
Very disappointed. I took my bike there on Friday. The breaks and the front tile needed to fix, also I needed the chain change. We gave our phone number in case something else needed to be fixed. I went to pick up my bike on Sunday, and only the chain was fixed. The guy putted some air in my back tile and the front was still flat. They did not do anything on my bike in two days. And the gut was screamed with us when we asked what hapoened. I could wait more but they said it will be done by Sunday. I liked this shop before.,but now am very disappointed. I will look other company to fix my bike.
I dropped off my bike for brake repairs, and they went out of their way to fix both brakes, and fix the problem with the wheels which caused the brake problem in the first place. It took longer than they had originally thought; they did it for free for me. Amazing bike shop. The service is great, and they are always willing to help. I would definately recommend this shop to anyone, just as it was recommended to me.
I came in not knowing anything about bikesThey gave me the right information and made choices for me that were better for me instead of just selling me the most expensive bike they had.The bike I got was a tribe bike and I got it ordered and it was sent to the store. It’s beautiful and they it set up and added a few things like a back brake and fenders. It’s great. I love it and I will be coming back to service my bike here thanks guys! Thanks Carlos.
This place is THE BEST!!! knowledgeable, friendly and extremely professional. Theyll go above and beyond to make sure your bike is serviced as if it were their very own. Because of them my Black Betty can keep on cycling. Highly recommend this shop to the others in the Astoria area. And most important their pricing is flat out the most reasonable. BIKE STOP is #1
Waited almost 10 min before someone would talk to me. And it wasnt even busy that day. These guys are there just jerking around. Basically ignoring customers. At least thats my experience the two times Ive been there.I had a tune-up done. And while I did ask for a break pad replacement, I didnt ask for new cables. They didnt even bother calling me asking or anything. They just did it and put it on the bill.I wouldnt recommend any place with poor customer service.
Amazing service, very kind and professional staff. After a very bad experience at Tony’s Bikeshop just a few minutes away I was just frustrated and found this store nearby since I just moved to this neighborhood. The store is nice, and you can tell that they’re very popular.
Super friendly staff. Were incredibly helpful and gave us some great advice and we were not even purchasing a bike. As far as the negative reviews that I have read my response would be to actually ask for help... Why would you just stand around like a bozo? If you know you need assistance just ask. These guys went out of their way to help me out and I really appreciated it.
Ive been to the bike stop three times since I moved to Astoria. The first time, they adjusted my bike frame for free, the employee citing that he worked for smiles when I offered some cash. The second they installed a new tire for me free of charge outside the materials, and the third to use their free air pump twenty minutes before they even opened. Ill be coming here for all my bike needs from here on out
I kept going back to this place every month after repairs, and it’s basically because they kept doing an awful job. Had a several hundred dollar repair job on my hub worked on, and the hub was still broken. Turns out they charged me and never switched it. Avoid this place
I was ordering my husbands 6 year anniversary gift he asked for FUJI Reveal and I ordered it from them online on July 1st and I received an order confirmation from them. I did not hear from them so on the 13th of July I called them and they could not find my order and I forwarded them the confirmation I received from them they told me they would look into it and call me back. I called them on the 16th and they just coldly replied we been busy couldnt call you we dont have your bike you ordered. I asked to talk to the manager Carlos and he simply restated twice the fact that my order went into their SPAM mail (even though I received a confirmation), he was busy with customers and he doesnt have the bike. I would not recommend them for an online order.
Was helped by Francisco today and was super helpful. He was overall very knowledgeable and absolutely laid-back in his approach; which made it easy to deal. I knew what I wanted since I was looking at their company website. They didnt have both bikes that I wanted but Francisco suggested this Trek bike that I adore, so far. He also let me checkout footwear, and pedals which was really nice of him to do for me. There is also a complimentary three year tune-up on the bike, too, which is great for me, since I am a barginista. I would definitely recommend this place, and make sure you ask for Francisco.
I went to a bike shop called Bicycle Repairman around 35th ave and spoke to a woman about fixing my breaks and she had no idea what she was talking about.....and couldnt give me a set price. She ended up telling me that it would take a week to get my bike fixed. So I ended up going here and these guys knew exactly what to do with my bike and gave me a set low price! and the guy said it would only take one hour. One hour! They were really friendly and fast!
Love, love, love, love! A friend gave me a bike. I took it to Bike Stop to get a tune-up. Then I went back multiple times to buy accessories. They gave honest opinions about the products, even selling me less expensive items b/c they knew I didnt need the high end stuff. Yes, some of the accessories I could buy online for slightly cheaper, but the Bike Stop guys install them and explain how they work. They are all friendly and laid-back, which should not be mistaken for uncaring. When theyre not busy, they are always willing to give advice on bike safety and any other general biking questions I have, since Ive only been biking for a year. I will definitely continue to shop here!
I just buy a new bike to my son. We love t! Carlos is the name of the person who helped us to pick the right bike. He take time to splain everything before we decide. He let us to ride the bike around the block. Good prices, friendly staff and have service for the bikes. 👍👍really recommend..
I wanted my breaks and shifter checked bc it didnt work properly. Theyve told me to pay ($50 or so) for a tuneup bc that worth it more and it will include everything I need plus the air in the tires too. When I picked up my bike they didnt tell me anything about what they did to the bike or if there were any issues, ( they were too busy with a friend and their conversation) and when I rode my bike home (1.5 miles) the breaks and shifter felt the same and my tires were actually flat. Seems like the only thing they did was wrapping the handlebar with the new tape I bought there. Something I could have done myself. Not taking my bike back there for sure.
Friendly, helpful owner and staff. Although small, they are well-stocked with a wide variety of parts and tools (it was amazing what the owner was able to pull out from hidden drawers!) Bike Stop has a limited selection of bicycles, but enough variety to satisfy every type of cyclist. Reasonable collection of helmets and locks, but dont look for shoes or other apparel here. My sense is that their forté is repair. Owner installed everything that I bought that went on my bicycle, without me needing to ask and without additional charge. I rate this store as one of the better neighborhood bicycle shops in the NYC area.
I had a good experience at Bike Stop. We bought a Trek bicycle for my wife, we walked in on a Saturday morning and were helped immediately. The store was empty so I cannot comment on what it is like to be helped when they are busy. The prices were good, normally bike stores around NYC charge full MSRP for bikes and wont bargain, Bike Stop had the bike prices for $30 less, they also gave us 10% off on accessories. Overall very happy.
Had a long ride this morning. Had a flat. The closest shop next to me stated they were going to open at 10. 10 mins past, and they are still closed. Went to bike stop instead even though it was out of the way. Carlos took cate of my flat. Great customer service. And they are open when they day theyre going to be open! Good job guys!
Sadly, I have to agree with all the poor reviews. I needed a stem riser, a chain and some handlebar tape. No big deal. After being ignored for 10 minutes in the shop as one employee texted and listened to dirty jokes from another customer, I finally got acknowledged by a the other sales person. 5 minutes later, that employee went to help another person who just came in the door. Put my items on the counter and left. Cant speak to the quality of their work, but if it is similar to their customer service, its the pits.Save your time, go elsewhere there are plenty of good shops in the city.
Im very disappointed as I am waiting outside in the rain making the very wrong assumption of thinking that this place would open at its assumed 10AM. I just worked overnight (as I am a nurse) and expected these people to open their store at the time they said publicly wrote, not only on yelp, but also on their store door that they open at 10AM. Its been 20 min and I am getting more irritated by the minute. By being tardy, Im making the safe assumption that these people are not the most responsible kind.
Today I went to get my brakes Adjusted at bike stop , when arrived told the repair person I need to tune up my brakes an check my gears the owner of bike stop told me to pickup my bike one hour An 45mins ... when I returned my bike was still up on the poll an they didnt repair my bike Im sure Im not coming back to this place they could go a head cancel my warranty

2022-01-10This is the best bike shop in Astoria/Western Queens. I purchased a bike from here seven years ago that I am still riding, in part because they gave me such good anti-theft setup, but also because this is the only place Ive been taking it for maintenance since. Besides giving me free tune-ups way longer than any other shop would, the guys have always been nothing but chill and helpful. I also really appreciate that they are all super straight-up in their advice and recommendations; Ive never ever felt like Im being hustled. Prices are super reasonable too.

2022-06-04Rude and poor customer service. Telling a customer they are lying and that what they are claiming happened is impossible, would be the definition of poor customer service.I bought a bike on craigslist that had no lip on the tire tread, so the inner tube would expand while I was riding, push the tire off of the frame, and the tube would explode. This had nothing to do with the bike shop.I bought the bike into this shop for tube replacements twice. The second time I explained what happened to the representative. He told me what I said happened was impossible and that I was lying to him. After about 3 minutes of telling him Im not questioning his work but not willing to debate what happened, he finally took a look at the tube and figured out the problem. I purchased a new tire and fixed the issue. Im still not sure why I actually purchased the tube there, I guess I was being lazy. But Ill never return.

2022-06-04I dont ever write bad reviews but this place deserves it.Dropped off a roadbike to get the wheel hubs cleaned and lubed along with the gearset. When I dropped it off and asked for this service, the person behind the counter had no idea what I was requesting and said someone would call me in 4 days to have it done.I agreed and never heard back, called to check in and they had no idea who I was or what bike I left... very concerning. Came back 5 days later and they never even touched it or called me.Went to a shop down the road and it was done in 2 hours..Dont waste your time with these people

2022-05-08They were literally useless!!! They couldn’t adjust a pedal. They were very pessimist about. I went to another spot 2 blocks away and they fix it in 2min and checked it out completely. To make sure I was safe. I couldn’t believe it!!! I don’t recommend this place !!!

2021-07-31Excellent, convenient location in Astoria, right by Steinway Street. Ive been here for a tube/tire replacement/install. They replaced/installed the grips/seat on my kids bike. Im happy with the products and service. All done while I waited. I havent bought a bike there, but their selection seemed good. New Treks, Cannondale, etc. Nice supply of good accessories. Its a small, crowded showroom, but its fine. Theyre struggling to supply certain bike parts now, but so is everyone else.

2022-01-03Prices are super reasonable for a tune-up. They’re super helpful and when my back brake got busted, they fixed it for me free of charge.

2020-08-31So I visited this bike shop right before closing because I had a stripped screw and it wasnt allowing me to properly adjust my ride height. I wasnt expecting them to solve my situation but without hesitation they improvised and came up with a cool solution while I waited. Excellent customer service is so rare these days and its refreshing when people are willing to help. The bike mechanic didnt want to charge me on top of it all. Im definitely going back to them in the near future.

2020-08-28Going to Bike Stop was a great experience. They had the inner tube I needed -- and fixed up a wobbly front brake when I walked in, no extra charge required. When I asked questions about diving into my own bike maintenance, they shared knowledge and information freely. I highly recommend a visit.
