We arrived about a half an hour before closing time and had a very short wait. The clerk was very pleasant, helpful and efficient. The transaction took perhaps 15 minutes tops. I told the clerk to tell her supervisor their office has a 5 star rating especially compared to my local office two hours away. Its worth the trip to come here over other DMVs that I have been to!
The staff at this DMV is not very helpful. I ended up needing more forms than what it had shown online, and when I asked about what parts I needed to fill out, I was told to follow the instructions online. When I had mentioned that the instructions online did not mention this new form at all, she told me that the particular form she gave me wouldnt show up online. So I asked again for some information since it wont be online, she told me that I just need to follow the instructions on the website. It was obvious that she didnt care, and just wanted to push me along, since I had 2 appointments booked for that transaction. It took a total of 4 minutes of the 30 minutes I had booked, and I wasnt allowed to complete the form right then. Instead I had to book another two appointments, and the closest available appointment was 3 weeks away.TL:DR: Try to use the Endicott branch, the staff there is much more helpful, and it is worth the extra drive just to get things done.
Dissatisfied customer. After waiting three weeks for my scheduled appointment, once arrived had to wait 10 to 15 minutes outside on the sidewalk to fill out a form. Once called in the process took close to two hours, glitches with the system, and not able to get the enhanced drivers license that I originally came for for some reason after tons of documentation presented it’s possible that the representative did not have extensive knowledge of the process. dissatisfied and disappointed. After all it’s not a free service was $64+ dollars
You have to wait in the entrance with a bunch of people before you are called in after making an appointment. Not covid safe at all. Meanwhile inside the DMV there is plenty of space inside the empty office that people can wait in. Would not recommend Binghamton DMV at all!
I advise you to come fully prepared with all documents ready to go. Staff at this location are not as knowledgeable as they should.It is difficult to tell who works here and who is here for the bus terminal as all the county staff dress unprofessional and taking the casual attire to another level.
Staff members are arrogant, been down there twice in the last week for one simple transaction and theyve turned me away both times. Without telling me why. Its just “yeah we cant do that without more paperwork” but they wont tell me what paperwork i need, just tell me to go online and look. They arent there to help you, theyre just there bc its their job.
After waiting 2 weeks for my appointment their equipment couldnt read a part of my paperwork.. was told i had to have it to them within 10mins, I need to be prompt with my time but it takes 2 weeks to receive an appointment, get some perspective!!! After waiting over my ten mins was told to make a new appointment! The staff is not friendly or helpful. Will never return to this location.
Me giving this horrendous dmv a 1 star is me bing awfully generous. I passed my permit test, and they stated that it should arrive in 2 weeks. over a month later no permit card. So I make my way to the dmv to find out where my permit is. Only for them to give me paper work and tell me to schedule an appointment. An appointment for what, whats to stop me from waltzing in there and demanding my permit. Paperwork
Moved to Binghamton from out of state. Be aware that when you change your drivers license you have 30days to change your auto registration and you have to carry NY auto insurance or they will turn you away. My 1st experience here was pleasant when I had to change my drivers license over to NY. The lady named(Terry). Very informative and helpful. Word of advice ask for her! When I returned to change my auto registration ; I arrived on a Tuesday before 9 am, sat for over an hour so I had to listen while the employees chatted it up with people they were helping and didn’t care about the other 25 -30 people waiting. Several people walked out while I waited. Only to be humiliated when my number was called. (Deb) Waited on me she was rude and did not want to help me.” The employee” she did everything she could to make me feel stupid. I understand these are state employees, maybe the state should have more customer service training sessions. Good thing I’m a registered Binghamton NY voter.
I could not get the person’s name who was “helping” me. However she was far from warm. I wanted to ask for a supervisor to state how she was very cold and almost rude to me. Minimally helpful, just enough to get through. I would hope there would be some level of nice customer service attitude.I’m a nurse who moved to New York from Pennsylvania. Whoever has moved would know the stressors that come with it. The process could use nicer people at this DMV to help you through.
On September 19th around 3:30pm i went Into the dmv to transfer my new insurance over to my name. I had waited patiently for about 40 minutes until my number was called. I had approached the lady at the end window where the pictures were being taken and she was being obnoxiously rude to me. I was explaining to her that i needed my insurance transfer over to my name and she had told me to hush, and told me that i had to have a dollar to exchange the plates and i had told her that i didnt have any cash on me, and her exact words to me were , “ you don’t have a dollar?” I then tried to ask her if i could run out to my car to see if i had any change in there that i could give her until she rudely spoke over me. I then had a very generous lady being helped next to me offer me $20 so i could exchange my license plate, but i could not take it from her. The lady behind the window then tells me to go out to my car and look and aggressively told me to “ hurry up”. This was the worst experience i have ever had with customer service. I’ve worked at a restaurant for almost six years now and i have never witnessed something like this before or have i ever been spoken to that way.
The lady that waited on me was extremely rude from the time I walked up to station. Acted as though I was a nuisance and as though she hated her job. Gave me short answers instead of explaining to me why and how the process was conducted. Not the service I would want anyone to receive if was the employer!
I never waste my time to write a bad review, but what a miserable bunch of people! They should let everyone go and do a rehire. If you dont have good customer service skills you shouldnt work dealing with people. Not a smile, dismissive, unhelpful, and they act as if youre wasting their time.
You in need an appointment at DMV office when she answers the phone or whoever it may be explained to her what you need done and she will tell you when there is an appointment available to schedule you for what you need done she will tell you what is open what day it is then youll get to choose the right time for you to make sure youre not late please arrive at least 30 minutes early to make sure you fill out the paperwork that is given to you, good luck.
Bought a car off my brother in law and went to put the car on the road and teller told me because he had the plates to long that I couldnt register the car and was in line from 5 a.m. and was there for almost 2 hours because the lady didnt want to do her job correctly

2022-02-18I wish I could give zero stars. BINGHAMTON DMV is horrible. I spent 45 minutes listening to a woman yell and belittle me as well as my place of employment. She threated I would lose my CDL and she couldnt help me. All because she WAS WRONG about DOT physicals.Turns out, I, and my place of employment were correct and she was not. I left with zero help from her and my anxiety through the roof. Thank goodness for the help of one of bosses as well as Endicott DMV for clearing it all up.

2021-12-21I will avoid this office at all costs in the future. The staff member at the door is unpleasant, and unnecessarily aggressive. This is not a prison and I am not a criminal. His putting his hand out to stop you from moving is really, really too much. A pleasant good morning, how can I help you, is all that is needed.

2020-12-21Went to the DMV with my girlfriend for her license, she was turned away for not having a form filled out that took two minutes to complete. We were given a website link and told to look for cancellations so we could get in sooner, however the URL didnt connect us to a working website. We had to schedule another appointment, 3.5 weeks later we are back and the parking machine ate $1.25 (its 50¢/30 min). I didnt have a problem with it last time I was here nor is it breaking the bank, but I dont want to keep throwing money at it for no reason. I was directed to an empty security desk to talk to someone about the issue, no one was present.

2021-04-21All in all, doing the things you need to get accomplished at the DMV can be had at this location. So long as you come fully-prepared with all the necessary documents, this location will not disappoint. However, there is an elderly staff member whose job it is to prescreen applicants at the entrance. He is a little quirky and unconventional. Otherwise, it will all work out for you.

2021-12-14I love our Dmv the people we have in our Dmv !!! They deal w alot of headaches and they still keep a smile on while the people in line struggle through that process full of red tape and headaches.

2021-04-22DMV usually has a bad rep. Needed to get plates today. Went online took the only slot they had open at 1145. I was out by 1205. Clerk at window 1 was so nice and she was quick. The guy at the door had a great sense of humor. Everything went so smooth!!

2021-05-12Made an appointment a week and a half ago and showed up today for my scheduled appointment. They couldn’t manage the people both walking in and those with appointments. I was harassed by a man who didn’t have an appointment and he was accusing the dmv personnel of treating him differently because of his skin color. I waited well past my appointment time before I finally was able to bring my completed paperwork to the clerk. She was rude and refused to process my paperwork. There are other DMVs in other counties, give them your money. The Binghamton DMV couldn’t care less about you or anyone else seeking their services. I will never go back.

2021-07-08If I could rate this world a sub-five star rating, I gladly would. Horrible place to go, avoid it at all cost. The people working (dictating) behind the rest are on a very serious power trip. Ive never, ever been treated so shabbily in my entire life! Truly horrible people more than willing to ruin your efforts to do any type of transaction.Endicott is marginally better, I recommend going there rather than giving Binghamton the satisfaction.In Broome County, the Deposit DMV is unquestionably the best.Conklin is very good as well.Just avoid Binghamton, youll thank me for the advice.

2021-04-09Frustrating as usual. Make sure to set up an appointment or you will be sent home. Dont expect to be seen at your appointment time. Expect that there will be forms you have to fill out that you were unaware of and may have to get back in line to wait again. Expect to be there for at least an hour. Put on your happy face.
