BJs Wholesale Club in other cities:
Staff at the self checkout should be better trained. They and not very courteous. The scanners at the self checkout counters are filthy. Why are NYC Police in uniform patrolling inside of BJs on a daily basis at the checkout watching for shoplifters? This is definitely a case of police resources being misappropriated. Dont BJs have their own security? Personally I dont think my tax $$ should pay for the NYC Police to be standing at the BJs entrance and checkout for shoplifters. They should be patrolling around the neighborhood and the subway system.
This store is officially open!! (1/31/20)Amazing amazing staff that are super helpful. They actually care about you and I received exceptional assistance from all workers there from the time I enter until I check out the process was seamless. They have so much variety here!!***They carry Lysol wipes!! Limit is 2 per member! Grab them before they’re gone.... ****Every worker that I asked for help walked me to the aisle or the product shelf and continued to help me as I was in the store. Really kind workers. At the self checkout I had some issues, but workers were readily available and some even scanned my cart items for me knowing I was having a hard time.Parking is readily available! They have a whole lot of space! The freezers and produce sections are huge!
I only signed up a month ago for my new membership. Since then, I have spent at least $500 in groceries and other items. Why does BJs staff follow my son and I all over the store every time we come in? I dont appreciate being followed and watched. I dont steal. Over the years, I have probably spent $30k (at least) over the years at Costco where Im also a member. Lately, Ive started dividing my shopping between the two stores. But I really dont like the way I feel like Im being stared at and followed constantly.
I rated it 4stars. This is my 2nd time at this bjs. Its super clean compare to other bjs I have visited. Had a mixup today with my account. The lady at customer service was a doll Lizdy thank you for your time. Also the Manager Shan was so understanding and patient, I think I spelled his name correctly lol thank you both for going above & beyond.
I really wanted this to be my new BJs location however the cashiers here are quite rude and under trained to handle the volume of customers and efficient ways to speed up checkout. There are no scanners at self checkout to easily scan all items without removing from your cart. Also the cashiers make you take everything out of your carts to place on the belt which takes up a lot of time. I’ve seen several lifelong BJs members like me know the system of all barcodes facing up for a speedy checkout. This location hasn’t caught on and wastes valuable time when lines build up. I’ve seen several employees on their phones while people around need assistance. Packing out items and tearing down boxes often blocks isles which I’ve also never seen at other locations I shop. Guess I’ll keep driving the extra 15 mins. Too bad. But would avoid this location.
I’ve been trying to contact someone through phone for over an hour. Finally some girl picked up and said “what” I explained to her I live 2 hours away and left my keys there. And she said “what” I’m the most rude way possible again and just straight up hung up on me. Extremely frustrated. I kept calling back and the phone doesn’t ring, puts me straight to waiting elevator music. This location needs to look into who they’re hiring and do better and to not mention, fire her.
The store has lots of great buys and better prices compared to supermarkets and even Costco. I do believe they can train their staff better because I was carrying lots of heavy stuff, trying to fit in my bag at self checkout as fast as possible and one of the young girls that work there rushed me. I understand why she did but I do think she could be more understanding and kind about it because she rather had an awful attitude. I worked in retail and I was taught the customer is always right and never argue or condemn them
I alway hear BJz BJ’s finally here . I signed up for one year promotion $25. It’s was a mistake .Think of BJs as big Bodega + family dollar + your local key food . It’s full of garbage foods . No brand names just regular cheap brands . Also staff not well versed in customer service. Clothes section all made in China ( bad quality). They don’t have bananas or organic egg when I visited. I can go on and on.In my opinion Bj’s shouldn’t be located in LIC. It’s simply doesn’t care about your health .
I was there January 31st at around 8:00PM. I was standing in front of the Lotto machine, and this lady starts asking to ask if she can sit in one of the wheelchairs. The employee says yes and she starts explaining that shes in pain. I tell her compassionately: Its okay, you dont have to explain yourself. Next thing I know she starts cussing me out. I was shocked, even more shocked that the employee didnt get involved. Train your staff better.
Do not shop online as refunds take forever and even after you call after 10 days. I did joined earlier this month and was hoping to save on the membership $25 deal which I did. On opening day the staff was very nice and helpful. The whole place is super clean and safe. I love the location because its so close to me.
Its a BJs. Just be aware that its too crowded for a PANDEMIC. There dont seem to be enough restrictions in terms of number of people in the store. Most shoppers were oblivioius of the six feet apart rule, often standing only two feet apart, and there was no line outside. Costco does a much better job of restricting the number of people in their store. I hope BJs improves their crowd control. Not sure Ill go back at this point.
More than a review, its just a clarification, however, I will give 5 stars as expectations are high. When you call the person will state that they are under construction and it will be an open location in January 2021. I am very excited to have a location close by highway access. Its just a matter of being patient. Good things will come. 😊
Today 4/9/2021 I went into BJs to buy groceries and was mistreated by the fat man who check the receipt when u are leaving. He took my receipt as usual and began searching my bags with his dirty gloves. Why is this a rule where he had to touch my food period. Its Covid time and I need to protect my children at all times so I will not return. $55 membership just went down the drain bcz I am not returning back. This never happened to me before in the years I have been a memeber. Thanks to Ms. Balinda this situation was fixed. Thank you
The meat department is terrible there was old chopped meat on display it was brown it was disgusting The deli department needs to be improved they dont cut the meat the way you ask I wanted sliced thin they tell me the machine doesnt go that then twice in a row I got old roast beef it was the ends Im going back to flushing the Astoria BJs is terrible
I went today February 7,21 to obtain a membership for a business and they made me a lot of trouble, they did not accept the documentation that I had of the business and still a woman I do not know who she was but she began to tell the worker not to accept the documents very haughty they should teach him edu6y respect for the customer and to make his mouth drop I told him you are not doing me any favors on the contrary I am helping the economy of the store without customers you are nothing you would not exist you should close your mouth and serve the customer with kindness and I respect otherwise go home if you dont want to work and he did the same to several people, and I wonder why they hire incompetent people. THE REST OF THE STORE IS VERY GOOD THAT EMPLOYEE NOOO 👎👎👎👎

2021-04-26In return or customer service, employees are chatting with each other while with a customer & takes long for a return. Only 1 cashier is open while the others chat & complain about customers. Spacious aisle and police officer is by the exit or entrance, which should be in every store. Dont like the checkout, hows there no space away from the next cashier. You touch the other customers back to back. Self checkout is better and spacious.

2021-12-28I welcome BJs in our neighborhood and love them for what they have to offer so far. Clean interior and friendly staff must be thanked a lot. I just want to bring some concerns for your further success, but its not a complaint at all. (1) BJs could keep its surroundings cleaner and tidier since we want them to succeed and flourish. Trolleys are not organized and its dirty outside within its vicinity. Kindly give your attention, it will surely get far better. (2) Thanks for sending Coupon Books regularly, thats informational but not really helpful. All of us customers are paid members of the club, hence, wouldnt it be more user friendly if these coupons are automatically discounted at the counters? I am sure you can link those coupons to your esteemed club members membership cards, that automatically discounted while at check-out counters rather than making members cut every single coupon and present at the counters, that will avoid hassles to your reputed members and can surely benefit from these discount coupons?! Im sure you can do it in this electronic age and mature from paper-based age. It will also cut down your printing and shipping costs and reduce paper waste to save trees and make our environment better?! Worth it.I see a lot of improvements around the BJs complex already, thats a brilliant and socially responsible act. Bravo!

2021-04-26Employees are chatting and doing nothing but being noisy. Im a man that doesnt bite his tongue and I tell them how it is. I come here for 10 items I use alot in more quantities here. Also, the Lysol laundry detergent is 150 oz here. For curbside pickup, theres items listed but not on the floor for customers to come in and buy. I had to go to Food bazaar afterwards, because BJS doesnt have livers, feets, kidney.

2022-03-21Racially Profiled as soon as I walked in. The location in long island city, Predominantly hispanic workers and customers. Two workers followed me to the restroom, and once I finished shopping. They even set off an alarm when I got near the door to go to customer service. If they only knew I had planned on tipping a large amount of money if I had a better experience. Terrible racial issue in that particular BJs

2021-12-01Today i purchased two books of stamps. I paid for them, went to the customer service to receive them, and waited for the one cashier to be available. I was then asked to wait again for the manager to come and get me my merchandise. Well she handed me one book of stamps. When i questioned her explaining i had paid for two books of stamps and paid $23.60 she told me the book had two sides and that the 20 stamps were equal to two books. I tried to explain to three employees that each stamp is not $1.00 so i need another book. After 30 minutes I gave up and asked for my money back . Employees are not helpful or knowledgeable and obviously can not count or add.

2021-12-05Pretty good place -definitely more convenient that Costco. Needs better bike parking though, like relatively close to the entrance... for the times when Im stopping by just for a jug of almondmilk for example.
