This place is great! Nice size, insanely attentive and wonderful bartenders. I walked in with a group of about 30 people and it did not phase this place at all. They took such great care of us and were so kind. Thanks Blackdoor!!
Always good for happy hour, and the bartenders are friendly. Its rarely overcrowded, but theres often an after-work crowd there. Good deals on wine and beer.
Was told this was a dive bar, but the decor was actually fairly nice. The clientele on the other hand though, were hipster seedy-chic, and the bartendress was positively wasted, necessitating the need for me to repeat my drink order at least five times.
It was my go to bar when I lived in Chelsea. Fond memories, great low-key place before 11pm. After 11pm on Saturdays and Fridays it has the tendency to transform into a bustling club!
Best late night spot around. Great staff. Chill bar but very upbeat. If your in the neighborhood after 2am, this is the shot.

Did my birthday party at the private room 10 years ago. It was great then and is till great.
I lost my wallet and when i tried to come back the next day they said that they didnt find it. Either someone took it or they took it. Its a pitty that it happened but for me i will skip this bar next time.

2019-09-14The bar was bustling during Friday happy hour but not so overly crowded that you were constantly being bumped at every turn. Though the ambience is quite cozy (warm wood and dim lights), it was very loud and definitely not an intimate setting.

2019-04-07Really nice place to sit and relax with friends. Everyone appeared to be having a great time. Music playing in the background was nice. There was no food menu, but we had pretzels, which we shared at the table.

2017-12-24The atmosphere was amazing from the minute you entered. I was greeted by one of the friendliest bouncers i have greet me in a very long while. Upon sitting at the bar i was warmly greeted by the bartender Alyssa who began to inform me about their whiskey menu. She was polite engaging and informative which is exactly what you want in a bartender but is so hard to find in the city anymore. When I go to a bar the bartender either makes or breaks the experience I have and she made it an amazing night. I would definetly return.

2019-02-26I really liked the bar. cute and chill place. no tv or distractions so you get to really enjoy the company of others. what i loved though was that there was live entertainment. they had a singer who alternated btwn and piano and guitar and she was awesome! great crowd interaction. she played fab songs and it was a great night. the bartender Tara was on it with the drinks and very personable. my first but definitely not my last time. only downfall. no food. with all the booze I was guzzling w friends last night. definitelt needed something to soak up the liquor. bread, pretzels, chips...anything!

2016-10-02Cute neighborhood spot to grab a drink or three.I was going to be in town for a couple of evenings and wanted to plan a night to grab drinks with all my local friends. A girlfriend recommended this spot and told me they were great for groups, so I invited all my friends... and promptly forgot to reach out to Black Door about reserving space. It didnt even occur to me until about three hours before the event. Luckily, with just a phone call, I was able to secure space for that evening, and we even got our first round free upon arrival!For a Friday evening, the place felt appropriately active... busy, but never packed. Glad I got the recommendation!

2019-04-13Pretty cool bar, seemed low key when I went (Friday night happy hour!) not that packed. Great interior though and there are some reasonable prices for drinks. I didn’t like how dark it was in there. It was putting me to sleep.

2017-02-05Dimly lit Chelsea bar with a Brooklyn feel. Staff is usually nice and attentive. Happy hour specials are good and tend to bring a sizable after work crowd the close it is to the weekend. There are some tables available and most include jacket hooks.

2014-03-30Pretty cool spot with a decent Scotch selection, which I like. No frills, kind of dark, and sort of a mixed crowd. But its a pretty typical spot to have a pint with friends, whether its 6pm or 10pm. Does tend to empty out when it gets late, though, presumably when people leave for the Ainsworth across the street.

2017-01-11I am a creature of habit. I have immutable routines. If I go to Sid Golds and still havent had enough, or if I just miss my bus, I hit Black Door.The problem is that bartenders like me and give me free shots. The last time that happened, I woke up at 10am in Harlem with balloons.By the time I get here (after Sids closes @ 1am), the vibe is strictly Hip Hop. Not normally my scene, but theres such a mix of people it doesnt matter: Lonely Businessmen tying to get the hottest chick back to the Hotel Motel Holiday Inn. Some guys to give the Urban soundtrack some authenticity, and just one old dude playing way out of his league. But hes harmless and if you work it, hell just buy you drinks all night. No harm, no foul.The ambiance is dark wood and dimly lit. Flattering to all. There are hooks along the bar for your belongings. Ive stressed before how that should be a frickin given at any bar but sadly isnt.At this time of night the service is prompt and attentive. Almost every time I get home I have no recollection if I paid my tab or tipped correctly. But I guess I do because the bartenders still treat me right. Cheers!

2018-10-26Elisa and Friends are so welcoming. Helping me learn Japanese while telling me about the community. I never expected to be so welcomed after a night of being treated as a tourist ( which I am). They made me feel at home, this is a new home. Thanks! I recommend all and i will return!
