Great atmosphere and nice people working there. However service was very slow tonight. Might not be the norm and thankfully it was a beautiful evening weather wise so we didnt mind sitting outside and waiting for our food. Plus we werent in a hurry. They need to expand their wine menu and include more variety by the glass.
AMAZING FOOD and wonderful staff. Ive been three times and I cant stop getting the avacado toast but today I tried a bite of my friends Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (pictured) and they were also heavenly. The prices are very reasonable and portions are large! So so good, I highly recommend thie place!!
Had dinner here. The back patio is lovely on a nice day, although the trains passing by on the nearby tracks can sometimes make it tough to hear your conversation. Once the grapevines bring trained on the racks above the patio grow some more, the west-facing seats wont get quite so much sun. They have the Beyond Burger as a vegetarian substitute for their burgers, so thought Id give it a shot. Never was into meat substitutes, but their Hack Job works beautifully with the vegetarian alternative (bearing in mind I kept the actual bacon on, which I guess tells you how much I care about the whole vegetarianism thing). Kind of spooky, actually. Had it with the fries, which are clearly shipped in frozen but cooked better in an indefinable way than the same would be in a diner or casual-dining franchise location. Dont ask me what I mean by that.Service was fine, although they didnt seem to have worked themselves too hard making sure each table was well supplied with silverware. Not the end of the world, but Id be prepared to flag someone down once or twice. I think it was a slow evening, so theres that.Overall, Id be up for a return visit. Nice patio, good food, nothing really objectionable about the service.
The food was really good! It does take a while to get your food, but our server (Joelle) did a great job letting us know that it would take some time, and the wait wasnt anything approaching egregious. At a peak time on a Sunday for brunch, I felt that the time was very reasonable. Joelle was very attentive, and I think the complaints about service are somewhat overblown. And, as I said before, the food was great. Will definitely go back.
Great breakfast joint. Plenty of parking and great location. Server was very attentive. I had eggs Benedict which was delicious. My friend had egg Florentine, which was a vegetarian option, and I think Ill try that next time. Nice variety on the menu, and mimosas too. We went on a Sunday morning at 9:30 and got seated right away. A few people were waiting for seats when we left at 10:30. Good prices too.
What a SUPER surprise. All the elements that make eating -out. FUN! ! GOOD FOOD. The menu offers a variety of. ...DELICIOUS. The focus is Greek / Middle Eastern, ,,but, ,not limited to. Service was great. All staff were friendly, and helpful. Choice of either inside or outside seating. All equal a Wonderful experience. Try Blades. You just may find a new favorite! !!
Our first experience was completely unpleasant. We went for brunch on Saturday. Our waitress was rude and passive aggressive. She never told us her name but she was short/petite with fair skin and strawberry blond hair. Our food took very long. When my friend wanted to exchange her fruit because it tasted like onion she proceeded to say that it wasn’t possible. As an open kitchen we could see her complaining about our request to the chef and then the chef began to throw things about and slam the door. What was extra annoying was that our waitress seemed perfectly pleasant to the table next to us- not really sure what she had against us since we were kind to her. This experience made us all uncomfortable. We will not return. With the actions of their staff, needless to say I don’t believe this restaurant will be open much longer.
The food was awesome. The portion size was just right. There was a wide selection of menu items to choose from. The fried calamari was absolutely perfect. The waitress was a little lack luster and she had a poor personality. But it was not so bad that it over shadowed the meal.
The cocktails were pretty good, and the food was ok. We had the Blades burger which was fine, and the French dip sandwich, which was pretty good. However, do not order dessert at this place. We got the carrot cake and the red velvet cake and they were both disappointing. The red velvet was horribly dry.
Absolutely horrible. Went forBrunch and they were clearly overwhelmed and understaffed. Took 15 minutes to seat us even though there were empty tables everywhere. We had no napkins, silverware, etc. after about 20 minutes, our drink orders were taken. Did not see the waitressOr receive drinks for about 45 minutes. They were horrible and the Bloody Mary was undrinkable. Food was mediocre at best and took over an hour to receive our orders. Waitress did not check in to see how te drinks were or if we wanted more. One of the people in my party asked for a coffee three times and never received one. Multiple customers around us were complaining about the service and food. A handfulOf customers waited so long to be greeted by a waitress that they just got up and left before ordering their food. Horrible experience.
Seated promptly with a reservation. Server was attentive and helpful. Meals were good portions and all cooked properly. Tasted good as well. We didnt realize what our bill was going too be until we got it. A bit shocked! Was more than we expected. Well go back but pay more attention to the prices.
This place is awful. My original review, which is appended at the bottom here, praised the food and lamented the bad service. I notice a lot of other reviewers were unhappy with the service. But I was willing to give it another shot.Tonight I went back, as part of a large group that rented the entire space for a birthday banquet,,where there were several lighthearted speeches given. The acoustics are terrible, but we could probably have lived with that, if not for the fact that throughout the speechmaking, the entire staff was clattering around, making LOTS of noise doing cleanup tasks that should have been done after closing,,and merrily talking to each other (often, in fact, hollering to each other) loudly enough to drown out the speeches we had all come to hear. I cant tell whether they were completely oblivious to the fact that they were stomping on a lot of peoples enjoyment or whether they were actively trying to sabotage the event, but the effect was the same either way.Its now clear that the staff has absolutely no concern for the comfort of the customers, which explains the bad service I had before and the other bad reviews. Id entertained the possibility that the service might be uneven, good at some times and bad at others, but in this case, the entire staff was so completely uncaring about the comfort of several dozen paying customers, that I think its clear theyll never get their act together. Im sorry to say I wont be back. Here is my original review:Good food, lovely atmosphere, appalling service. Sat for nearly half an hour after I finished my meal without being offered coffee, a check or anything else, and failing repeatedly to flag down the waiter. All this at a non-busy time.
Went this past Sunday for brunch and I wont be back. My moms bacon was half cooked. My son asked for bacon and got sausage. I ordered rare steak and eggs over easy. The steak was not only well, but dry. The eggs were cooked through. For the price, I expected better. There are so many options for brunch. Ill be going where you get what you asked for.
I went to Blades for dinner and ordered the Limone. It was tasty, but honestly at $19 + an extra $6 to add chicken I was disappointed. A house salad is not included (although I could have added for $$) and a small slice of bread came on the plate. I drank water. They include the gratuity on the bill so if you werent happy with your server....... I guess you can ask for a re-bill? Our server was fantastic! Just saying. With tip my bill came to $31.54 and that was strictly for an entree and a small slice of bread. The chicken looked exactly like the frozen grilled chicken strips I buy at the grocery store and there wasnt much added to my entree considering I was charged $6. I can pay the same amount for an equivalent meal that includes a house salad and a basket of bread brought to the table. Nice atmosphere, if youre in the neighborhood and want to check it out. I personally wont go out of my way to go back. Maybe Ill check out their lunch menu sometime and give them another shot. Rochester is full of great restaurants though.
I wanted to like this place. Great location. Decent food. We were seated immediately, however, it took 20 minutes before we ordered, and another 36 before the food arrived, and, my wifes order was wrong. Hoping they figure it out, friendly staff, and lots of potential.
Eight of us decided to meet at Pomodoro. It was a Monday night, around 7:30pm. Four of us wanted food and/or dessert, four were only interested in drinks. The waitress gave us a single menu, took some drink orders, came back with the drinks, and that was pretty much all we saw of her until the final bill. We were never asked over the course of 2.5 hours if we wanted food or dessert. As we were more excited to see each other, the lack of attention was at first odd, then funny, then a lets see if she ever asks us contest. When it got to about 10pm and we ended, those of us who wanted food left Pomodoro with none.Ive been to Pomodoro before and enjoyed it. This time, not so much. Could we have reiterated to the waitress that the reason we had a (single) menu and had passed it around several times was that we wanted food and/or dessert? Sure. Or we could have gone somewhere else where eight people over the course of 2.5 hours might have been asked you guys want something to eat? Yes, it was probably a fluke and wont happen again. But its unlikely any of us would give them another chance.
I was here for a private party, so I cant speak to dining service. The food was good, and the atmosphere was fun. The only criticism is that the bar was set up right by an open air patio where the sun was setting, so the wine was pretty warm when served. Otherwise, a fun place to have an event. Staff was friendly and did a great job!
Food had an ok flavor, but nothing spectacular. Service was not great, our server ignored our table for much of the visit. Potatoes were bland and flavorless and extra on top of the price of the meal. Avocado toast on thin rather than thick toast as advertised. Got a shell in my eggs as well. I had high hopes for BLADES, but it failed to live up to expectations.
The over all breakfast experience was just OK. From time of ordering to when the food arrived was 30 minutes. We sat near the kitchen and we could see constant confusion. The waitresses were always standing at the kitchen counter waiting for food, with the same question from the cook, What are you missing. The kitchen cook workflow is poor and needs to be improved. The kitchen appears to be the bottleneck for the size of the restaurant, this needs to improve. I did notice there was none there to oversee the entire operation. After our 30 minute wait for the food, the quality was just OK.
Ordered takeout over the phone. Whoa!!! Prices on the menu and prices on the receipt were way different. They had said their menu had changed, because we wanted the panko fish fry.... ok. They neglected to mention that they jacked up their prices!! My meal was average. Way too average for the price. The $20.00 fish fry was average, too (too bad they got rid of the panko). Doubtful we’ll return any time soon, if ever. I will miss the ambience, though...
Ill lead by saying that this place has a lot of potential if a few things are improved, but unfortunately my experience here was nothing special. The layout is pretty cool. Its a large open space with a view of the entire kitchen. We went at 9AM on a Sunday so it wasnt very loud, but I could see it becoming bad if it were busier with a rowdier crowd.Everything on the menu sounded great. I ordered a frittata and the person I was with got the lemon ricotta pancakes. We got coffee while waiting. It was up there with some of the worst coffee I have ever had in a restaurant. It had no flavor. The food took a while to come out. The frittata was good and the ciabatta toast was phenomenal. The lemon ricotta pancakes were bland and soggy. Our waitress seemed either out of it or overwhelmed. We asked for a box before she brought the check but instead of bringing the box proceeded to clear the plate that we were going to box up.The price was excessive for what you got. I wouldnt plan on returning unless the service and execution improve.
Great atmosphere and plenty of room, no waiting time for a Friday night. Live band. Kids options for eating is a bit limited but they were willing to put together some simple pasta dishes and such for our 3 year old. Prices were very reasonable. New renovations are awesome.
We had a Holiday catered event. They make too much money. $900 for 16 people with tip and no alcohol. Charge approx $150 for plate of cookies and half a cake. Really disappointed by the value. Another review called it a Hotel Restaurant and that is a good analogy. Overall staff were pleasant, and food wasa B,but an extremely bad value and will never be back again.
Food was delicious, but there is not much of a structure when it comes to their wait staff. They host, bartend & run the food. It is a busy restaurant and staffing should be appropriate. You can see the staff getting overwhelmed and forgetting about their tables due to the list of things that they have to get done for the multiple tables they are waiting on. No table should have to wait 15 minutes to pay their bill. For the owner: Talk to your staff and listen to what they have to say because it is very visible that they are in need of a host or maybe a food runner who busses the tables as well.
Our food was great. We each had a cup of their New England Clam Chowder, which was thick with clams and potatoes served with a piece of cheesy garlic bread, which was also delicious. We both ordered the Baked Rigatoni Bolognese. It was a large portion, in a rich sauce thick with meat, as a Bolognese should be and the pasta was not overcooked. We would have liked a little more ricotta but we both really enjoyed it! For dessert we shared a piece of chocolate cream pie which was drizzled with chocolate sauce, not exceptional but good.
Food is decent. Service is very slow. Half hour to get water, another 20 minutes for our order to be taken by a waitress who never gave the option for drinks. Waited for food, waited again for the check and waited longer for the check to be taken. In all 1:40 minutes for a burger and water.
Service was good, outdoor seating was nice, especially if you like watching trains go by during your meal. My meal was a filling amount of food. The salmon was cooked as ordered, but it wasnt my favorite variety of salmon. Others enjoyed their meals, with the steaks being popular.
Food is bland and boring. Was really hoping this would be a good brunch spot, but youre better off staying home. I had the huevos rancheros, and it had no spice or flavor for a meal that is supposed to be latin inspired. Friend had the eggs and steak, and he said it was the most boring food hes ever had. If you have no taste buds or enjoy bland food, the service and ambiance is nice I guess. If you are looking for delicious breakfast food, you should try someplace else.
Been eating here for years before the remodel. Went last Saturday first time since remodel and waited more than a hour for a easy deep fried appetizer, then another half hour for our meals which were pizzas. Wasnt impressed w the restaurant, but the bar is a great improvement. Was disappointed w food, service.
Lets start with the entrance walk was not shoveled and we do live in NY. Wine list is insufficient and over priced. Although my steak was cooked to the correct temperature, I didnt receive the correct sides until I was done with my steak. They lack presentation, service, and the entires where very madame. The server need to ensure the orders are correct before delivering too the customers. For the cost of the meal it was not worth it. The dessert was the best thing we had during our visit.
The food was delicious and our server was attentive. But, our 20 min wait turned into 40 min to be seated. There were at least 6 empty tables. After being seated and ordering, the wait for food was another 20 - 30 min. We ordered breakfast. We went on a Sunday afternoon.
We came in tonight for dinner. It was not busy and the weather was perfect for the outdoor patio. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer. It took 30 minutes to come out and it looked great but was severely overcooked. Our main dinners were a pizza and Cesar Salad. After 45 minutes, they never showed up and we never saw our waitress. We finally flagged down our waitress, let her know our displeasure and left hungry. We will not return.
Have always had a good meal and entertainment. We didnt have reseevations on a Saturday night and were able to sit around a table at the bar, because there was an hour wait for a table on the floor. The bartender said the kitchen was a little short sraffed and backed up, so our food might take awhile. We didnt have anyplace to be. So the manager was nice enough to give us our dessert because of the wait. There were large parties and 2 of us. Very accommodating.
Service wasnt good at all and the food was generic! Wont go back! It seemed like they didnt know what they were doing. It took 30 minutes before we were asked if we wanted a drink and it took over an hour to get our margarita pizza which was the size of a personal pan pizza for 18.00 and a 13.00 salad that was the size of a side salad. We had to keep asking for things because our waitress didnt bring napkins silverware parm cheese ect. She never asked if we wanted another drink. Too. Our food was brought to our table finally by some guy an hour later and our waitress just diappeared. The Resterant was basically empty and that should of been our first clue for a Saturday at 6pm.we will never go back! Besides being over charged for drinks it was a horrible experience!
This is my first review on Google, and I am not usually a reviewer but my visit to Blades today left me at a complete loss. Our server all but ignored our table the entire time. I am in the food service industry and pretty understanding of bad days, busy shifts, being understaffed, etc. however our server did not even come to take drink orders for over a half an hour, and never gave water to our table unless specifically asked. After a bit longer, she came over and asked us Are you just hanging out? when we said No and communicated that we were ready, she gave us a be right back nod, but did not return for another half hour! Then, she came back to ask if we were waiting for one more guest.. we were not and told her we were ready to order again. Even the ordering process was messy as she took two separate sides of the table at different times (this is fine) but then one side of the tables food came out a full 20 minutes before the other side! Over all, the food was OK, but due to the terrible service, and no one in the restaurant seeming to give a second thought to us, I will never return and urge you to not test the waters.
Food is pretty good but they really need to get their act together service-wise. They are always under staffed and service is very very slow. They dont seem to know to staff properly. Ive been there three times, always same problem, they dont seem to learn from their mistakes. People leave because of the slow service. Its too bad because they have a good menu and great location.
Ignore the 1-stars reviews that blast this place for the service -- especially any griping about a ruined banquet. (Why are you holding a banquet at a new establishment? What made you think Blades, in which the kitchen is completely visible, is set-up to cater to many speeches that require total silence?) I simply dont see how that was ever true. And if it was, theyve turned it around. In my experience, I was seated immediately; I never saw the bottom third of my coffee mug; and my food arrived sooner than expected. This could have been because I arrived around 9AM. The place had filled up quite a bit by the time I was done. I feel like reasonable people understand that the busier a place is (usually 10AM on at a place that serves breakfast/brunch) the longer the wait times become and the more difficult it is for servers to treat you like their only customer. The food was exceptional. I had the Big Easy; my girlfriend had the Farmers Ruckhouse Veggie. Both were incredible. Im not going to waste my time describing flavors for you. Just go get some.My girlfriend and I have been to MANY breakfast joints in the city and the suburbs, separately and together, and Blades, for both of us is among the top 3 places to eat breakfast...so far.(If youre getting worked up about top 3, relax. Its a personal list. I say it only to emphasize its a quality place thats worth a try.)
Over priced and service was horrible. Waitress never came back but only ,1time to refill drinks. They must have been under staffed . Food was ok .I ordered a fish fry and my daughter the white clam sauce. It was ok a bit sogy and the sauce on clams really was not flavorful. But the worst part which maybe is or isnt their fault was the 2 rats climbing out of the outside dumpster.in parking lot. They were overflowing and lids were open. They need to get their garbage picked up more often. The dumpsters are less than 100 feet from the backside entrance. Wont be going back anytime soon.
I was there for a birthday/holiday party in the banquet room. The room is beautiful! And spacious. Lots of free parking. Appetizers, snacky food, was very good. Drinks were a flat $9/drink no matter what it was.Great dance floor for kareoke and dancing. I would love to add a pic, but had such a good time, I didnt take any. 😁
Love the food but the service was horrible. Went during lunch time and it took over 45 minutes to get our meal which were basic pasta dishes on the menu. It took over 15 minutes to get a glass of water and another 15 to get wine and ice tea. Outside seating is wonderful but with all the other Italian restaurants in town, this would not be my first choice for lunch.
Had a great experience at the bar, so I decided to take a guest for dinner. Ordered the Paella, the server warned that it wasnt a classic version. After I picked out the unopened mussels I ended up sick as a dog. Really disappointed with the restaurants response when I notified them the next day! Dine at your own risk!
Service was horrible. Bartender ignored us and took forever when she did help us. Then we ordered apps. Took over 30mins and we were missing said it would be few minutes. 15min later I went back to some guy and said we ordered fried calamari 45min ago is it coming out? Couple more minutes he said. Since when doea it take that long for apps? Was expensive considering the horrible service. Definitely will not be going back.
Went to the Pittsford village location for a late breakfast today and everything was great! Service was prompt and friendly and food was hot, well-prepared and offered some inventive options. I also have Celiacs and was happy to find they offer gluten free bread, and I had no issue with preparation. Im sure well be back!
Blades is essentially a hotel restaurant: it is big, overly ambitious, not well executed and intent on taking as much money from you as it can.Thats not to say the food is bad; its not. Its just that the portion or quality of food is not as good as the price would imply. My tab for two lunches was $40, close to what my dinner tab would be at another restaurant. When a kitchen charges $4 to add an egg to a lunch menu item, either that egg had better be from a peacock (technically a peahen, if its laying eggs) or have the talent to do something so astounding with that egg as to warrant charging four dollars for it. Sadly, neither was the case at Blades. They just cooked an everyday chicken egg on a lunch item and took their four dollars because they could.Pro Tip: Overpay at a more deserving restaurant.
It was okay but my food wasnt the best. Also service was slow, but Im pretty sure it was because our booth was completely out of eyeshot of anyone, and so they didnt even notice we were there. I went to another restaurant later and ordered the same dish and it was much better than what I got at pomodoro. Overall, I dont currently recommend it but I suppose that I ought to try again and see how things are.
New best kept breakfast secret! Love their outdoor patio, its perfectly shaded for a lovely summer breakfast. Dynamite omlettes and power bowls. The avocados and bananas are always perfectly ripe. They open at 7am which makes it an ideal spot for breakfast before work or an early morning meeting.
BAD EXPERIENCE. Had reservations for 7pm. Finally got seated at 8pm even though the place was half empty. We asked the waitress for bread which she finally brought 15 minutes later.....only to find out there was a $10 charge on our bill for 2 baskets of bread. Food was mediocre at best. Will never go back.
My first time dining at blades I was highly impressed nice comfortable atmosphere reasonable prices great food and service. since they have raised prices twice and the quality of both the food and service have declined considerably. Serving 101 you dont ring in 1 persons food then wait until food hits the table to take the second order especially if its a couple that comes in often and tips over 25% consistently. Garnish your food presentation, presentation, presentation! Today was diner amateur hour at blades. Very dissapointed. If your going to raise the price of mimosas twice fill the glass and dont bring grapefruit when someone orders a sunrise sunrise is orange juice and cranberry.
They have a beautiful restaurant and great location. Why did they go with a diner menu? They charge $10 - $16 for breakfast. Ala carte. Thats right, you pay extra for potatoes. The service is incredibly slow. It felt like they were ignoring me. The food is ok...exactly the same as you get from any cheap diner. Only itll cost you 2-3 times more at Dull Blades.
The food was an easy 5 star but the service made the whole experience only 3 stars. Our party of 6 at 10am on Sunday spent about 35 minutes waiting to be seated while we watched 6 couples sit before us (that came in after us). All they had to do was push two small tables together and we would be good to go but for some reason that didnt click. After 35 minutes passed, someone in our group asked about the wait to which we were told it would be another 20 minutes (it wasnt even that packed and there was nobody ahead of us when we all got there at 10am). A member of our group basically told that waitress that wasnt going to fly since we had waited patiently for so long and we were seated shortly after that. They did end up mixing up half of our meals but everything was so delicious we all looked past that. Very affordable for the quality as well.
Im not one who is averse to change, but Im not impressed with the new layout and style of the place. The food is over priced and not well made. I had a the salsiccia pizza and the sausage was more like kielbasa, not Italian. The pizza was actually oveloaded with too many toppings and had more onions and mushrooms than sausage. Atmosphere was loud, band was good but really not what I expected for dinner. Seems like they are pushing for more of a hipster hangout than an Italian restaurant. I get the feeling this is in response to The Revelry opening up in front of them.
I was here for an event in the ballroom, so it was not table service, but rather buffet style. Food was underwhelming. Sliders were so under cooked they had to be remade. Pizza wasnt anything special. If I had put it side-by-side with a frozen pizza, you would not be able to tell which one was which. Stuffed mushrooms were tiny, and the sausage stuffing had an off-putting taste; I had to spit it out.
The food is lovely but with an open kitchen so you can see, you can see when chefs are on their cell phones while cooking. While being on the cell isnt a big deal, wearing gloves while being on the cell and not changing them when making food is a bit unsanitary. We all know cell phones arent regularly disinfected. If you use the phone its cool but not changing gloves before handling the food put me a bit off. And it wasnt a once off.
Very disappointed. Arrived on a Sunday evening about 6pm. Place about 1/4 full. After seating took 10 minutes before anyone asked if we wanted something to drink. Later after placing food order we timed how long it took for food to arrive: 45 minutes. While waiting for food we finished our drink, no one came by to ask if we wanted another. I decided to try the bar..no bar tender around. Waited 5 minutes..no one came. Went back to table empty handed. When the food arrived, was average. The staff on site seemed dis organised. We will not be back.
I had a very bad experience this afternoon at lunch. I ordered a Nitro coffee, and was given an iced coffee, we waited over 25 mins for French toast and a waffle. During that wait time our waitress checked on us once and did a drive by another time. The food was sub par. Our waitress never picked up our plates when we were finished, our dirty plates were still on the table when we left. The service was horrible and the food was eh.
First time there this pass Sunday afternoon, the service was okay, the place was almost empty yet it took a while to be served. The food was not good at all! It had no flavor, greasy and over cooked. The Mahi-Mahi fillet was over cooked it was rubbery, sea food paella was greasy and flavorless, the linguini genovese was watery and pasta over cooked . My husband got quite ill within an hour of our meal, due a food poisoning. The food for what it was way overpriced. Not coming back for sure!
Our waiter, I believe his name is josh, was hilarious. Best part of the pomodoro experience. We had a large party and he did a great job of being attentive to everyone. The Caesar salad was pretty good. It had bow tie pasta in it so that was a little odd, but not terrible. The penne vodka was too sweet for my taste. Overall, it had a good atmosphere but the food was only okay. I probably wont be rushing back.
I’m definitely not one to post negative reviews. In fact, I’m more of a “let’s give it another shot” type of person but unfortunately my experience was so awful, that I felt obligated to share in hopes that it provokes the restaurant to make some changes. I called 2 days prior to today to make a reservation for brunch. I was told then they do not make reservations. I asked (because we had a party of 5) if I could call ahead day of and was told I could. We went ahead and called them a hour ( or less) before our arrival when we were told by the hostess that we were misinformed about calling ahead. We arrived at 12:15pm when the hostess told us it was going to be a half hour wait. Not a big deal honestly. We waited about 40 minutes then we were seated. We ordered pretty quickly. 2 ordered the Eggs Benedict, one got scrambled eggs with peppers and onions with a side of French toast. I ordered an omelet. About 35 minutes later we were informed that they were out of Holandaise sauce for the eggs Benedict, that they were making more and it would be a half hour. So one person changed their order completely while the other person decided she would go without the holandaise sauce. Another 30 minutes go by. Our food comes out finally. Both guests received the eggs Benedict with holandaise sauce - it’s clear that the kitchen decided to hold our order in order to make the sauce. In doing that, my food was cold. The order of eggs with onions and peppers, came without the additions. And the French toast came with berries on it which is not stated on the menu- this was an issue because this guest has an allergy to berries. Because our food took an hour, she ate 2 pieces of the french toast that weren’t touched by the berries and left the other 2 pieces as she couldn’t eat those. The side of bacon that was ordered extra crispy- came out raw. Along with one of the eggs on the Benedict. The berries that came on top of another order were starting to spoil. A side of potatoes were ordered that never came out with our food. When asked, we were told that were out of potatoes. Then about 20 mins later- a side of potatoes showed up at our table. At this point they had brought a bowl of “fresh fruit” out instead. The fruit was obviously not fresh as the fruit was all starting to take on the same color. I felt bad for our waitress as she continuously apologized because the kitchen couldn’t get it together. We waited so long for our food that I wasn’t hungry by the time it came. I really wanted to love it here and honestly couldn’t be more disappointed. Not only because of the food but because this was my birthday brunch and I wish I could have enjoyed it. We were seated at 1:19pm and finally left at 3:10pm. We waited so long that I had to cancel plans following brunch. ☹️
Wow! Never been so surprised by a clear bait and switch in my life! Went for Mothers day brunch. Advertised price, $22.95 includes cold seafood bar and grilled halibut Omelet station. Sounded too good to be true.....it was. Food was good, not great for what they had. They couldnt keep it stocked but when they did it was good, at least the things that I eat. I dont eat pork, which looked undercooked. There was no cold seafood bar, no halibut, no omelet station, but they did do omelets made to order, table service. Heres the kicker.....$35.00. When confronted they simply replied, sorry, it was a mistake. I was in no mood to put on my karen outfit and didnt want to spoil an otherwise great mothers day. So I decided this review would do more than talking to the manager anyway. Here ya go. My advice, stay away. Just a bad business practice.
Server came to the table with a scowl. No introduction, just a “ready to order?”. Waited for 25 minutes for 2 eggs benedict. We were seated looking directly at the pass so you can imagine our frustration when we watched the food die in the window and sit there for about 15 minutes before she brought our dead food to us. The hollandaise was breaking and everything was cold. A runner had an attitude when I told her I didn’t want this as it had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. We paid for the coffee and left. After leaving, we went to the south wedge diner, had an excellent server and our food came out in less than ten minutes, and left her a 25%+ tip. Will not be going back to blades.
Pricy delight. If youre looking for an inexpensive place to grab some grub, then this is not the place. If you want to enjoy well prepared food that is a delight, then youll like Blades. Im a first timer after hearing friends reports that they liked the food here. I came on a Monday morning, Blades had a light crowd, service was efficient. I ordered the Frittata which had a meld of amazing ingredients and came with brioche bread and garnished with fresh fruit. My wife had the eggs Benedict cooked to perfection. $28 plus tip.
Will never go back. 45 minutes for an omelet and a bagel sandwich. Girl comes to the table and says sorry we had a few parties come in before you. Then 20 minutes later says sorry it was the modification in the omelette. Really! All they did was change the cheese. And the potatoes for my husband were forgot, mine were cold and the omelet was cold. 4 cooks and 4 waitresses on and they are definitely not getting my money again.
Good food. A little pricey and not the best service. The place can be crowded and noisey. The parking lot and the entrance are easily wheelchair accessible and the restaurant has table with enough room for wheelchairs. There are separate mens and womens rooms that are single occupancy and large enough for wheelchairs to turn around. The buiding is an old saw blade factory (from which it gets its name) that has been turned into a shopping plaza with ample parking.
Mothers Day Brunch 2018-- BIG mistake!!!!Waited over an hour for meals to arrive. Place wasnt even that busy. 3 of us ordered linguine Del Mar , tasteless and soaked in wine. Awful, rest of party was much of the same. No bread or rolls served with our pasta. HUGE disappointment for Mothers Day !! Even sadder that our hard earned money was wasted. 1st visit = last visit
Second attempt at dining here (first time was at Pittsford location, but similar enough experience...)Calamari appetizer was okay, but overbreaded and fried in my opinion. I like to be able to taste the calamari itself a little more, but if you like the very crunchy/ salty like chips feel, its not bad. The sauces that came with it were very good.I couldve given three stars if the entrees were even a little more palatable. I ordered penne alla vodka, which is usually a safe bet, but the sauce was thin and tasteless. The massive pile of parmesan is also personally something Im not a fan of, but even for one who enjoys that, it did not seem very fresh. My husband ordered the limone pasta dish, and had similar sentiments about a lack of flavor (or quantity) of sauce. The only strong taste to come out of his dish was the sun dried tomatoes, which were very good, but overpowering in the face of the bland dish in general.Perhaps the pizza is the way to go here, but the pasta continues to remind me of the assembly line style pasta bar you find in a college dining hall... tgrown together, good enough to eat but wishing you had gotten something else.Waitress was pleasant enough and the live music they had was excellent enough to keep me ok with our decision to dine there. Wish I knew the name of the duo but I forgot to grab their card.
Meals were overpriced, overdone (seafood and steak alike) and the herb crusted chicken entree looked like something you might see on an Early Bird Special menu at a diner. Although the chicken was moist enough, the overall dish was very bland looking and bland tasting. There were very few vegetables which was supposed to be the main side, and the rice looked like something from a box mix. I was not impressed. Sorry, Pomodoros. Not likely to eat here again, nor are the 5 friends I had dinner with.
The service was great but the food was greatly underseasoned. The menu advertised paella but was just rice with a tomato based sauce and some seafood. It didnt have that crunchy layer of rice that paella should. The artichoke app was delicious. The linguini limone I got with sundried tomatoes, artichokes and asparagus was really bland. No taste of lemon and it didnt seem like the pasta water was salted enough. Again, great service but underwhelming food.
This is a great hidden gem. It is located in the back of a busy university ave area. To be honest from the front parking lot it is advertised as a diner with breakfast and lunch and always has looked closed to me when out with friends. We finally found out it was open for lunch/dinner when we had to use the extra parking in the back lot one evening and we also didnt realize the back building/patio was part of that front blades restaurant. I think it would be helpful to do some more advertising and marketing for such a beautiful venue and patio area, I know many people dont know that it exists and that it is open for lunch/dinner/bar hours.
Wednesday evening, 25% capacity, took over an hour for food for a table of six, too pricey for quality and quanity. The crab cakes were mostly breading. The outdoor seating was very nice and the live entertainment was enjoyable. The resaurant was clean and the servers were friendly.
We were at pomodoro for an hour in which we ordered our food - and got a glass of wine and iced tea- we didnt get our food for an hour- the wine had a bug at he bottom of the wine glass. The service was poor. I felt sick to my stomach when I saw the bug. For a non busy night this was an extremely poor customer service and level of hygiene. At the end of the hour the server still said we are not yet ready with your order.
I only have this 1 star cause we did not have an option if no stars. Arrived at 11:00 and 12:30 still no food waited at least 45 min and no drinks offered. Got no spoons with coffee and did not get refills while waiting. Food finally came and it was cold waitress never came back for refills or asked how the food was. My first experience there I will not return horrible service we complained and seemed like no person cared
My family needed to host an event for 50 people in fairly short order. The restaurant provided an event coordinator (Lilly) who was easy to work with and extremely helpful. The day of our event we were greeted by our hostess (Holly) who was there throughout the event and helped to make our dinner move smoothly. Everything was delicious and we had a great evening! Thanks so much, Mark and Mary Kosinski
Ordered the steak no pink came out oozing with blood. Drinks were weak. Kitchen staff were smoking out the back door letting the foul cigarette smoke into the dining area. Any restaurant Ive went to (even Applebees) when a customer sends food back, the Manager comes and apologizes and tries to make the experience a little better. NO ACKNOWLEDGMENT WHATSOEVER. THE COOKS THERE LOOK LIKE DRUG ADDICTS! I WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS!
Oh boy where to start... I went there for my birthday dinner with 6 friends. We had a reservation for 6pm, and somewhere to be at 8pm. We werent seated until 6:30. It took the waiter a good 15 minutes to come over and acknowledge us. At that time we placed our drink and appetizer order, which we didnt receive for another 20-30 minutes. After we placed our orders, the waiter came back 30 minutes later to say that they were backed up in the kitchen but they are just finishing the meals up now. 15 minutes later he came back and said the exact same thing. 15 minutes after that the manager took it upon himself to come over to our table and said that there is only one cook tonight and they had a large party. I told the manager that our waiter has now told us twice that the meals were on their way, he told me yeah well he doesnt know what hes talking about. We explained that we had somewhere to be, and honestly by this time we all have eaten so much bread just sitting here, that we arent even that hungry. His response was If you have to leave, you have to leave. At this point I had to keep moving my other plans back. I ended up doing that 4 times that evening. Our meals FINALLY came out and they forgot to make one of the meals, but they would do that. After dinner the manager apologized and said they would pay for our drinks (most didnt order them because we didnt know they would be free), and our dessert. I was really unhappy by this point, and didnt want dessert, buy my friends talked me into it. I ordered their peanut butter pie, and was told they ran out of that, to which we all started laughing. This was the worst dining experience Ive ever had. The food is pretty good, but If you want to eat the same day you order, you may want to try KFC around the corner.
The food was good went for brunch and the general atmosphere was great severs seemed to know the regulars and it was cute and clean. The only issue was my waiter Zac. He was waiting my table (me and my bf) and 2 other tables I could see and yes it was busy which i totally understand. He did not say Hello or hi or welcome in fact he never got us water or sliver wear. He did not bring our food to us which i know happens but in this case I have never not left a tip but this time I did not. He brought the check out with not even saying one word he really did just theow the check on the table. When he had placed our order he said you guys ready? Not even a smile. He smiled and said hello to the other tables not even 4 ft away RIGHT after looking at us and gave them water asked if they needed anything etc. I was honestly amazed. Im not sure if he didnt like a interracial couple or just assumed two 27 year olds would not tip well. I do regret not brining it up to management but did feel insulted. I hope to return get a different waiter and try this place again.
What a fun place! Very interesting decor, original menu with cute puns (be on the lookout, I wont sloil them!), prompt and courteous service, and of clurco good food! We spoke to the manager after and she was very kind and friendly as well as open to suggestions. Try the fresh squeezed OJ!
I went to dinner with my family. We sat down at 7:30 PM to eat after waiting 45 minutes to dine and we were served dinner at 9:30 PM, 2 HOURS AFTER WE SAT DOWN. We sat down initially for 35 minutes without anyone greeting us or taking our drink and/or dinner selection. The hostest after 35 minutes of waiting for someone to greet us at the table with a drink order asked us how we were doing. After we told him we hadnt been seen by anyone for over a half an hour he said I really wished you would have spoken to me earlier, like we were responsible for the complete lack of service and respect for the customer. We watched the 3 stooges (owner, manager and hostest doing nothing but blow smoke up the occasional leaving customer at the front of the restaurant. There were only two waiters serving the entire inside tables while the 3 stooges chatted it up. The bartender served us. Because of the wait (2 hours...) We were told the next round of drinks would be on the house. No joke, the complimentary round because of the incompetence was served 25 minutes later. The appetizer we had ordered came at an hour in of waiting there. When the entrees finally came...the asparagus was brown, the chicken was so dry it was like jerky, and the salmon was killed three times over it was so dry. Three meals were left half way uneaten after all that because it was awful. This was BY FAR THE WORST EXPERIENCE I AND MY FAMILY HAVE EVER HAD TOGETHER AT A PLACE OF ESTABLISHMENT FOR DINING! BE WARNED!
Sorry to say, but the Monroe Ave location shouldnt be called Pomodoros! Anything but for that matter. The food was very sub par & the wait staff was even worse. Go to the University Ave location, as Ive been to that location 10+ times over the past few years. The food has always been great, and backed up by great service.
We went to Blades for a glass of wine and a couple of appetizers after attending another event earlier. Sat at the bar and found the service to be very attentive. After sipping our wine for a bit we ordered food and it came out very quickly. There was a fresh and tasty beet salad and fried calamari which was tender and delicious.
Our waitress was delightful and the atmosphere is comfortable, with a gas fireplace and large, open dining area. The food was surprisingly dissapointing, though. The fish fry was burnt, the fries tasted like frozen store-bought, and the coleslaw was soggy, room temp, and slightly spoiled. So unfortunate.

2019-01-26Any other day, I would give them 5. Today, I was a bit disappointed. The place is great. Food is great! Loved the fire outside as an entertainment and to keep that side of the wall warm. However, service was very “rushed”. It was not bad or wrong, just “rushed”. In the beginning, i though it’s because they were too busy, which is great. At the end, when many tables were empty, they still rushed thru the service part. It’s like we were more of a bother vs clients.

2019-02-09There are two locations ! The pittsford one does not have an alcohol license just a heads up. The big easy Benedict is amazing along with the lemon ricotta pancakes ! Also note no lunch menu on the weekend! And the culver location can get pretty busy as well.

2019-06-20Busslin diner with a great environment. Food was different than your average greasy diner food that everyone loves. Had pancakes with lemon curd drizzle and berry compote. Yes! 😻 Definitely want to go back again and try all the other dishes that looked so good !

2019-10-05Blades was pretty good. The portions are good and the seating is nice. The drinks were well made and tasty. When we visited, the waitress said that there were some bees inside and we should sit inside. We took her advice and were happy that we did because the other more daring customers soon left outside to hide inside. They should try and take care of the bee problem but we appreciated the open and communicative staff. The place was good but not great. If its nearby then go there but not a place that I would actively seek out.

2019-08-10Blades really disappointed with their inability to put out food. We waited 20 minutes to be seated even though there were many open tables inside and a few outside. There were several other parties of 2-4 ahead of us that were waiting even longer! Eventually the hostess told us that she could seat us, but it would be 30 minutes or more before anything we ordered would be out of the kitchen. We left along with most of the other parties that were waiting.

2017-09-22Wine Bar indeed. There was a tasting when I walked in. The bartender allowed my husband and I to sample several wines before we chose. She gave us very decent pours for tastings—we tipped her well! Drink prices were reasonable. We had just come back from a trip to Italy and were happy to find this yummy wine from a place we had been. Live music. Beautiful large outdoor space. Hip, industrial-chic party room, too.
