Blick Art Materials in other cities:
Horrible customer experience with Christopher! He was absolutely sassy and rude from Hello ! I came to pick up an order that was already paid for and placed. As soon As I got in the store Christopher looked at me and asked how could he help? (No problem there) I told him I was there for a pick up under my name . I told him what my name was. He then asked me if I could name what was in the bag? I said why do I have to name what’s in the bag if you have my name and I have ID? He said With an attitude I’m just trying to help you out. I said well you can help me out by seeing if it’s under my name, which it was. He said OK, you can lose the attitude. I looked at Chris because for one I was shocked that he is speaking to a customer this way. I said are you talking to me a customer like this, and to be clear you were the one with the attitude. He found the bag with my name on it and on the side of the bag it said already paid. Chris said he was looking to see if it had been paid for which it had been marked by their staff that it had and it was clear because it said it on the side of the bag that it was paid. I said Chris it’s already been paid for and it says it on the bag. He the. pushed the bag towards me and told me to just go.
Havent been inside this place in a little while.I went in when it just opened so it wasnt too crowded and i didnt feel like i was unsafe shopping in there.Staff was all friendly.I bought pastel pencils that were priced a little less than ones i see online which is so rare when you purchase something in-store nowadays!I was very excited to see they sell DMC embroidery floss - i had no idea! Will be coming back soon.
Classic art supply store. I have a few items I use on a daily basis that I can only get here, so I visit about every 6 weeks and I always end up leaving with a lot more than I planned on. The one department that they’re lacking in is calligraphy supplies.. so I usually have to buy these items online, which isn’t the most ideal since it’s best to see ink colors first hand. Same goes for nibs.Overall, I love this shop! Always so much fun to go.
I love Blick. They are a very awesome store that has a ton of cool art supplies. Best of all, most of their employees are artists themselves. So theyre the go-to people to ask certain art questions, that other retail art stores probably cant answer very well. Although the store is relatively small, theres so many materials, and other drawing/painting/sculpting tools. You can pretty much find any/everything you need related to art. I love love love this store, and I always come back to the store for more. I am satisfied every single time I go into Blick!!!
I like this place. Good size, helpful service, and the lines arent too bad. Convenient location so you can get in an out fast. The place isnt very kid friendly, as all sorts of things are reachable by little hands, but thats not a major problem. The size is very good given the location. Also told I prefer the Bond Street store more, as its more focused on office stuff and not serious art stuff, but I could see a lot of people (especially old Pearl Art fans) coming here.
I was kindly greeted by the staff as soon as I walked in. I was getting some micron pens for my Brother, who likes to do art. The gentleman who worked the floor gladly walked me to the item. I was in and out in no time. Its a great place for anyone who needs art supplies.
If youre familiar with other Blick locations, this store is typical of those. A huge collection of art supplies with enough variety and a wide price range are available.Needing to make a rather large purchase for one single item, the staff were unsure if the item was even in stock. I was asked to wait for them to locate the item in the back of the store, and, after a considerable amount of time passed until they did find the item, I then experienced problems checking out with a credit card. Having done some shopping previously in the day and then also immediately upon leaving Blick with a similar fairly high total, Im unsure of why their card reader would not accept my card.As such, I was unable to leave with a successful purchase and forced to do business elsewhere.
Lovely and helpful staff and the store has everything your artistic heart can desire! If by some chance they dont have it in store you can ask them to order it and ship to the store. They match their price with their online price and give discounts to students/teachers which is a big plus too!
Cute store with a great range of art supplies. The staff there is knowledgable and were able to help me out with my first foray into art supplies and materials. The pricing was decent and if you sign up for the list you can collect points for $$ off your next purchase.
I love art stores. Good staff. It is more directed towards students, fine artists. If you are a profesional decorator or running a medium sized art business, this won’t substitute Art Central. They open at 9am and professionals would appreciate it opened earlier before job sites open.
Fantastic art supply store with a large variety and range of products. Might be a bit more expensive than other art supply stores but, quality products are generally a bit pricier.Customer service is on point with one of the employees generally asking if we need assistance within minutes of entering.
This is my neighborhood store, so I come here if and only if I haven’t got time to get things elsewhere. Every time I visit I feel followed around and harassed with employees constantly asking me if I “need help” or just pacing aimlessly behind me. After the fifth time I have to stop responding because i’m just trying to think through the project that I am working on and get back to work. As a minority I feel targeted and as a store you should adjust your staff-attentiveness/loss-prevention policies/tactics so that customers don’t feel harassed.
Great staff and clean store. This location is great and not as crammed and crowded as the union square spot(although that location is also great)Staff seems more attentive and friendly at this location too and theres more selection bc of the larger real estate. Overall a great place to get your arts and crafts supplies! I can spend hours and hundreds of dollars here!
This Art Supply Store Is perhaps the Next best thing to Complete Sculptor, A few variations but theyre not far from each other as. Far as Key Materials, I Appreciate the Large selection of Paints, brushes, Adhesives as well as other Great products. And its on the Canal strip, so its not hard to locate. And the prices arent bad either. I usually stop here after My regular stops at Canal Rubber.
Good store with reasonable and cheap prices. Very organized. Lighting is a little dim, not a very bright place. Staff are super friendly, will help you anything if you just ask. Convenient place. Usually my go to spot for purchasing art materials. Large selection of practically everything and if youre on a budget, they have their own brand of products ranging from blick graphite pencils to their own dual top markers similar to copics. The copics are enclosed in their own case near the line register. The case is transparent but closed. If you buy 6 or more copic markers, they discount the price from 7.99 to around 5.39 per marker.
They need to work harder to be a real complete store. The have limited variety, staff is not as knowledgeable than I would like, specially when it comes to more specialized art like airbrushing and prices are way too expensive. Makes one mourn the death of old-school art shops.
I visited this place for buying watercolor supplies. They have quite a range of brushes which supports all type of pocket groups. The available brands from my recollection are Princeton, W&N, Ultrecht and few in-house model brands. Besides this they a have wide variety of art supplies supporting other mediums.
I visit Blick Art Materials quite often.... The last time I was there, I purchased this cute little easel....The Artwork was painted with Blick products, art materials also purchased at Blick Art Materials.Unexpensive, Fun, Easy, Practical.College student discounts!!!FRIENDLY CUSTOMER SERVICE. Attentive and very knowledgeable.Strongly recommend it!!!Copy of the Artwork can be viewed at @simplyxart_ on Instagram.
I made an online purchase of paints and canvas worth $180 and at all time of the purchase it said it was free shipping. When I looked at my bank account, I got scared! Blick had debited $300, almost double the value of my purchase. I complained and I was told that $100 was for a handling fee that I was never informed of. Beware of the bad faith tactics they use when shopping online.
This place stays open a little later than the other ones. The inventory isnt the greatest but its definitely satisfactory enough for many basic materials as should any. The stuff is attentive when around and theyre nice people worth small talking with. I like my doods bag philosophy.
It aint the old 4 story pearl paint that used to be an artist haven on canal for years, but this blick location is fairly large, has friendly, geeky, fun staff and has prices comparable to other art stores throughout the sity, so youre not getting ripped off by any means. My gf and i are def coming back here to buy stuff and sketch more memes on the strips of test paper by the pencils and pens.
If you dont want to use the Internet, this is the place. If they dont have it they can get it. And its always better to see art supplies in person than just on a screen. The staff are artists (usually) and if you have any questions, boom, answers! I go there as much as I can. I think I have a problem, and I dont care. I might go there when I finish this review.
Horrible experience. Bad customer service. Terrible communication. I came all the way from school on the upper east side trying to find a gouache I needed for my art class. I called the store ahead of time to ask if they had the right gouache before I made the trip to go out there seeing as how I live very far from the city. I called and the associate said there was 3 in stock. Are you sure?” I asked. He said yes. I make my way over in train, 45 minutes later to find that there was none left in stock. Waited about 10-15 while the associate called Bond street to see if they had any. He confirmed that they did. I walked fifteen minutes over to Bond street just to find there was none and the associate had given the wrong sku number to the other location. By this time I was tired and frustrated. I could’ve avoided all of this and went home instead of wasting my time and not even getting what I needed in the first place. Terrible service, never again.

2022-05-31Great store and very knowledgeable staff. not sure if they have ac or not but its insanely hot in this place during the summer, so much so that the staff is walking around with fans to cool themselves, so be prepared if you go on a hot day. 5 stars nonetheless

2022-02-15Awesome store, but pretty pricey… but, if you like painting, this is your go to! Keep in mind that if you have a particular paint you use, they may not carry it at all Blick locations… why is beyond me… but my favorite Blick is on Lafayette just above Canal. Get inspired! 😇

2022-06-06They are moving in August 2022, so they are not restocking even basic supplies. I was very disappointed they were out of 8.5x11 black paper last week and they told me they wont restock it. Right on the day I needed it most.

2021-01-19I used to go to Pearl when it was around. 5 floors of art supplies was an adventure and pleasure each time. When Pearl closed I started coming to Blick. Its an OK place. I also order supplies on Amazon now too. I painted a portrait of the facade of Pearl for my series of Disappearing New York, which you can see on my website, KovalFineArt dot com.
